Subway who? Oh yeah, I used to date her, we went out forever and I was loyal to her, sure she tried some new things to keep me interested but it was just stuff the others were already doing. I wasn't really looking for a new interest in my life but isn't that always the way, when you stop looking that's when you find the one. The Wife and I are into volunteering for public safety, I help the police, she helps the fire department, so when she found out about Firehouse Subs and the good they do in so many communities we decided to try it. We didn't expect much just hoped for an edible meal. What we found was an amazing sub sandwich place with innovative recipes and steamed to perfection. My favorites are the Steamer and the Smokehouse, but I haven't had a bad sandwich here yet. You get the typical assortment of chips and a drink, but the upside on the drinks is they the Freestyle Coke Machine which gives you exactly a bazillion and six flavor combinations which is good. Waiting for the people in front of you to choose is less good, the younger the person, the longer the wait. However, for these sandwiches and the customer service it is a small bump in a generally smooth road. One thing I ask of you, when the cashier is getting to the climatic end of taking your money they will ask if you want to round up to the nearest dollar to donate to their grant program. This allows Firehouse Subs to bestow equipment to departments in need as well as education. It is very important work, check the good they do on their web page. Good food, great people and a noble cause, it is a mighty powerful trifecta.

For a chain sandwich shop, they did a great job of incorporating little bits of Tualatin (look for the crawfish and the pumpkin regatta as well as Mt. Hood) in the mural on the wall. When Firehouse Subs opened in Nyberg Rivers earlier this year, my boys were eager to try it. One in particular loves meatball subs, which is one of their specialties. We typically frequent Subway, so I was curious how they would compare in his eyes. And he says it is a draw. At Firehouse, their subs come in two sizes (medium and foot-long) and like Goldilocks and The Three Bears, one size seems too big and the other too small for my teenager on any given day. We always feel like we order incorrectly. I'm usually happy with one of the 'Under 500' subs on a smaller bun. I love chicken salad in general, but when I order the Momma's Homemade Chicken Salad, I've been disappointed. It is a bit bland for my taste. I've been happier with the Hook & Ladder Light and the Turkey & Cranberry. My son loves the Freestyle Coke machine and so do I when we visit on a quiet day. Otherwise, I agree with the other reviewers who note it can cause a hold-up around the order line when people are stuck looking at all the choices. Also, our experience is that food takes longer to arrive and the prices are higher than Subway, which is my direct comparison. Two things I especially like about their system is they ask when you are ordering if you want a pickle on the side. If you have a kid (or an adult for that matter) who hates pickles, you'll know it is nice not to have that little surprise when your food arrives. Also, it is a great (and easy) donation to just round up your tab to donate to their foundation ( firehousesubs.com/fireho… ). The interior is cute as a button with the fireman theme and Dalmatian table tops. Staff has always been nice and usually do a group greeting when we enter. I am also amused by all their hot sauce options and their own brand of sauce for sale in a fire hydrant container. Their marketing department gets an A for effort.

My preamble first: In my heart, Quizno's will always be my favorite chain sub shop. Unfortunately for me, Quizno's are few and far between anymore. When Jersey Mike's came into Tualatin, I was pretty happy after trying it and remained loyal to them, so I was a little apprehensive about trying out a new place. Luckily for me, I found another good sub shop and with it, a different menu that doesn't really have too much cross over with Jersey Mikes. With all that said, I was pretty happy with Firehouse. Local owners which is always a bonus, solid customer service and I haven't had to deal with any crazy lines. I suspect that they use a lot of the same meats that Quizno's used which is a big bonus in my book. Prices are pretty reasonable, and the sandwiches come out quick. I'd recommend the Smokehouse Brisket or the New York Steamer. I've also had the Steak and Cheese, which wasn't as good as the other two.

It was okay - nothing super special, but not bad. It was just food. I will say, though, the layout of this place SUCKED. People standing in line waiting to place their orders were in the way of the people trying to get their sodas and were forced to stand between the tables of folks trying to eat. We picked a table far away so as not to have someone's butt in our faces during lunch. That might be okay for dinner, but certainly not before 2 on a Sunday afternoon. ;o)

Sandwich and decor seemed good until a pulled a three foot piece of hair covered in mayo out of my mouth.

Gave this new sub shop a try the other day. It's a small shop, and it was pretty crowded on the weekend lunchtime we visited. It's not entirely clear what the ordering process is - there were lots of people milling around inside the front door, but the order register is at the far end... I think they were waiting for take out or a table. Anyway, we ordered (wish they had some printed menus to look at, rather than the board above/behind the counter). I had the Turkey Bacon Ranch on wheat bread. It came served warm and was pretty tasty. Not a lot of bacon but the flavors were pretty good. The guys both had the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket. They ate it, liked it, but didn't love it. The pickles are dill but are that weird bright yellowish green that usually signifies canned sweet pickles. The drink machine is one of those Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. Lots of choices, but because there are so many choices it takes f'in forever for people to make up their minds and get their drinks. They would do well to have a separate fountain for water. The drink line was pretty crazy. I thought there was a drive-thru for this place since it's right next to the front door of Firehouse Subs, but it's actually for the Wendy's that shares the building. Not sure we'll be going here all the time, since there are already a bunch of sub shops within a 1/4 mile. Plus, parking at this center is insane.

I am very impressed a bad situation was turned great with wonderful customer service. Another lady with the same name as mine took my sandwich because she was into much of a hurry when I told the staff with what she had done they not only made my sandwich right away but gave me a gift certificate for next time and free chips. I received several apologies plus the owner came out to apologize herself. The sandwiches are delicious and I will definitely be back.

Just okay. If you order the "light" sandwiches, be warned that the light mayo they use is kinda gross. It has too much sugar in it. The parking lot is a quagmire. If you've only got an hour for lunch, consider the amount of time it will take you to get back onto Nyberg Rd.

Went here for the first time yesterday. I ordered the Firehouse Chopped Salad with grilled chicken and loved it! The employees are so friendly! Definitely recommend!

The service was great!! I haven't been to a Firehouse Subs in awhile and was extremely impressed with this location. The owner Brandon was nice and genuine. He made a funny comment on my wallet, breaking the ice of awkward small talk. The Turkey Bacon Ranch was a great sandwich. The amount of vegetable to meat to sauce ratio was on point. I later when on to get some dessert. I could not help to notice the cookies and brownies so I asked Alissia which I should get. She made note of that the brownie was really good and also the cookies. So I decided on both. The lemon and white chocolate chip was amazing. Thank you Alissia for the helpful decision making both the cookie and brownie were great.

Love the subs! Love the service even more. Seriously the best subs I've had. The smokehouse brisket just melts in your mouth. My family and I will be life time customers. Thank you Brandon and Stephanie we really enjoy visiting your establishment.

I thought to give this place a try. Little did I know this is not a good place. I ordered a ham sandwich with all the veggies, and mushrooms (costs extra). I was excited to try this place, because I had heard good things about it. I ordered two sandwiches to go, and took it home. My house is about ten minutes away from this place and I came home to a soggy sandwich. The sandwiches were labeled so I could differentiate the two sandwiches in the bag. I opened up my sandwich and realized this was the other sandwich I had ordered. I thought no big deal, since there were two sandwiches, didn't cause that much trouble. When I opened my sandwich, I found that one there were no mushrooms, and two the meat was wrong. After being frustrated with the sandwich, I ate it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best thing I've ever tasted. Don't go to this place, and just drive to Jimmy Johns by Bridgeport, it tastes better and its cheaper. I will not be coming back again.
