Beautiful old buildings that were once a poor Farm and now a lodge, restaurants with gift shops, movie theater, brewery, pool hall, amphitheater, spa, tea house, etc. Classical music, wood interior, white cloth napkins, excellent service with James as our server, good choice of specialty items for breakfast, good robust coffee, etc. A nice surprise that we happened upon while on a bike ride around the lake.

Great food and ambiance for the whole family. Several options and friendly staff. Eat outside if you can - the grounds are beautiful. Expect a crowd.

I've been eating at McMenamins for as long as I can remember but generally ate at the Power Station when visiting Edgefield. This was my first trip to The Black Rabbit. My girlfriends and I manage a child-free and husband-free brunch 1x per month. This particular month was also in celebration of my birthday. We all love Edgefield, so I figured this would be an excellent treat. I made reservations and the group was seated promptly upon arrival. It was busy that day, but not over crowded. We had an overall great experience. The food was spectacular. I had the 3-egg omelet which was delicious! I can't remember what the rest of my group ordered, but there was about 7 of us and everyone was VERY happy with their food. The only downside to the visit, and again it wasn't slammed, is that overall brunch took 3hr because the service was terribly slow. Perhaps they were short staffed that day... I am glad I was with great company :) Atmosphere is great. Edgefield alone is fantastic! Food was great. Prices are great. Overall, definitely great :)

We've spent valentines, anniversaries and birthdays here and been impressed each time! We especially love the hotel package with a voucher for the restaurant included. Great food and drinks!

My wife and I visited a few weeks ago for the first time - great experience overall and we'll be back on our next Edgefield visit. Service: we sat at the bar to avoid the wait. The bartender/server was attentive to everyone (they were busy) and both fun and engaging. She recommended some drink orders that included house distilled gins which were excellent. Get the G&T with rhubarb or orange bitters...really good. Food: my wife and I shared an iceberg wedge which came with chorizo. I was skeptical but DANG that pairing makes sense. That salad is worth the visit itself. She ordered the NW crab sandwich and I know she's just waiting to get back and order it again. I had the smoked turkey sandwich which was also great. All ingredients were high quality and well assembled. There are a number of choices at Edgefield but we'll have a hard time not eating here again on our next trip.

Wow! Service was on point. The potato leek soup was a tad bit rich for the amount poured into a bowl. I think half of the amount served would be better.

Absolutely loved this place. It is within the borders of the McMenamins compound. We went for breakfast and they made one of the best Bloody Marys I've ever had. They make it with veggies from their own garden, which they pickle. It did not taste like tomato juice, but like fresh veggies. De LISH. Then I had the Eggs Benedict - - and I licked the plate. I usually don't finish meals but this one was not going to get wasted this time. Staff, as with every single place we went to within the McMenamins walls, were absolutely top notch friendly and helpful and seemed genuinely happy to take care of you. :)

Probably the worst dinner experience We have had in awhile. My husband and I have recently moved to portland and a few people told us to try Mcmenamins. Ugh we were sadly disappointed! To say the least! We have had better service at Applebees. First we are greeted by two intoxicated, what seemed like employees exiting the black rabbit bar where we would have enjoyed a nice bottle of champagne or martini before dinner. We quickly decided against this and went to the out of place podium at the corner of the room where a guy on the phone said hang on! So we stood there while he talked on the phone and typed on the computer for a couple minutes. After his phone conversation, we were taken to our small wood uncomfortable booth with dirty linen and mismatched flatware and stemware that looks like it was purchased in a used restaurant equipment supply house. Ahh yes! It gets better!!! We then were greeted by our waiter Scott with stale bread and half frozen butter. Yay! Scott then started in on his abrupt sales pitch of the evenings offerings! All we wanted was to ask a few questions about the very confusing disorganized wine list. Again we were disappointed. My husband asked Scott about a french burgundy as well as a local Pinot noir neither which he had any knowledge about. So we settled for a couple draft beers. You would think if you're going to make an attempt at a wine list you might edjucate your staff on the product! Scott returned to the table with our beers and for fear of being bombarded with his obnoxious descriptions of the menu and being called friends and folks, we again settled for a hamachi crudo that was fair to mediocre we then shared a Caesar salad and a steak that was also mediocre. Needless to say we absolutely will NOT be back! We are foodies and love every thing from food trucks to Michelin star restaurants but WARNING Portland dont wait your money! Whoever is in charge of the food and beverage at this place should be disappointed!!!!!!!

Our trips to Portland are never complete without a stop at our favorite place, McMenamin's Edgefield Hotel. Having said that, it is very difficult to remain objective in a review of the Black Rabbit so I had to make sure of my 5 star rating by having both dinner and breakfast there this weekend. The ambiance, service, food, and overall savor-faire of the Black Rabbit is remarkable. The dinner menu is a meat eaters delight with lots of choices across the carnivore spectrum. The "Vegan/Vegetarian Secret Dish" was a wonderful plate of roasted veggies from their garden that featured a scrumptious roasted fennel as its centerpiece. What a treat! Hot rolled oat cereal dressed with fresh fruit and almond milk for breakfast followed a wonderful cup of coffee. Did I mention the coffee? It was particularly good. I think that the flavor was definitely enhanced by the surroundings of one of the real gems of the Pacific NW. Love this place and all that it offers.

Amazing food. I had the wild boar with a pomegranate meat sauce, which was delicious and the carrots on the side were so sweet I wanted to take them on a date. Of course, I was with my wife already, so I just ate them. My wife had a delicious petrale stuffed with lobster that was so rich that she wanted to marry it. But really, our relationship is good, so she just ate it. We came back for dessert later on, so we had some wonderful hazelnut ice cream, which wasn't so creamy as it was nutty, but it was delicious. We had no romantic overtures with the ice cream. After we spent the night at the hotel, fat and happy, we woke up hungry again. That was a disappointment, because we had spent much more than we usually spend on a meal so we hoped it would keep us full for a bit longer. So we got dressed and trudged down the long hallway back to the restaurant and had breakfast. It's a good thing the food was just as good this morning, after all that effort. I had a black rabbit breakfast sandwich which had ham, buttery scrambled eggs and avocado. On the side were these red potatoes with herbs. My wife had toast and eggs and bacon. Our only disappointment was the very strong pepper on the bacon. Perhaps you've heard that the cake is a lie? Well, at Black Rabbit, it's the bacon. It's not bacon, it's pepper. The highlight of both our meals was the yukon gold hashbrowns which we loved so very, very much. Again, we are happily married, so we avoided any amorous entanglements. We had very happy eating and we will recommend this place to anyone who has the money. We don't really know anyone with thirty dollars a plate to spend, so I'm posting this review on Yelp.

The best ! I cannot say enough about how excellent the food and service is here amongst the great ambience of the historic hotel!

After an excellent hike in the gorge we were treated to a meal marked by a general lack of enthusiasm in service, taste, attention. I found it curious that we were asked how we would like our burgers cooked. This obviously was a customary gesture that meant very little in the kitchen as all three burgers at the table were cooked to well done status. The server asked at some point if everything was ok-that is exactly what it was - ok. 2 stars may be generous. I felt the experience was pure mediocrity.

It is one of my favorite spots in Portland area. I've been here once for lunch and twice for dinner Dinner portions are big. They have a 3 course special, which I've gotten; however I've often take the dessert to go Service may be slow for a one person seated off to the side. Next time I'll make sure I get seated centrally There's a gift shop whee they sell their wines and spirits plus other souvenirs. This is part of a hotel and winery

FUN PLACE and the food is pretty good, too. We went in for lunch with friends and had a pleasant meal. My wife liked her Potato Leek Soup and I had the Oregon Bay Shrimp Louis Salad which was average. But my dessert, the Affogato, was the best part of the meal. The restaurant is in an historic old building located on beautiful grounds. The setting is worth the trip alone. Food - 3 1/2 stars Service - 3 1/2 stars Ambiance/Decor - 5 stars Location - 5 stars

Came here after a friends graduation for lunch. We were seated outside after about a ten minute wait (and we had a party of 10), very cute place. It's a rustic, garden-feel. It was so hot outside but there was a nice breeze and nice shade for us :) We ordered drinks- champagne cocktail ($11) screwdriver ($6.25) Bloody Mary ($7.75) -and mimosas ($6.50). The drinks came fast and were very god and refreshing on that hot day! The only thing keeping me from giving this place a 5 star is the wait it took to receive our food. Yes I know we had 10 people, but it was literally over an hour of waiting. There was a table of 6 people next to us who came after us, and they all got their food and finished it before we even got ours. We ordered eggs benedict ($13) ceased salad ($10) house smoked turkey sandwich ($10) black rabbit burger ($13) grilled cheese sandwich ($11) and penne tonno ($14). The food was amazing! It tasted so good, I have literally never had a grilled cheese this delicious, I just wish the service wasn't so long! 1 hour is just unreasonable. Anyways, I will definitely love to return here and try more of their food, I think maybe next time we will come with a smaller party Service: 5/10 Food: 10/10 Overall: 7/10

Sorry Black Rabbit but need to give you three stars for this reason. We had 9:30 reservations. We ordered a round of drinks for a party of 7 and then ordered our meals which were all amazing BUT as we received our meals we weren't asked if we wanted more drinks or a glass a wine to compliment our fantastic meals, we were asked what kind of dessert we would want. We asked to order drinks and they said the bar closed at 10p. REALLY?!?? For such a fine dining restaurant they should never have the bar closed until the last patron leave. When we got our bill our waiter apologized only after we pointed out how ridiculous this was. Don't think we'll be back since a dining experience should not be rushed.

Went here last night with friends. We ate out in the courtyard as the weather was perfect in the early evening. The 3 people I was with got the ribeye and I got the lemon ricotta ravioli. My ravioli was delicious, but after having a bite of the steak, I was sad that I didn't order it. It came with this mushroom sauce over it, which was amazing! The steak was cooked perfectly and had so much flavor and the right amount of tenderness. Overall, the meal was pretty good. My husband got the mushroom soup as an appetizer and that was a bit generic and disappointing. The Terminator bread that they bring you in the beginning is awesome!

Service was good as well as the beer but, if I'm gonna pay Chicago prices I want a Chicago dinner. The food was overpriced for what you get as well as bland.

Late lunch on a Monday. One of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had (described as roasted butternut squash, guava compote, gruyère, truffle mayonnaise, with optional bacon). Great fries, too--served with homemade ketchup. Very good bread, too. Good service, great atmosphere. The only down-side was that we didn't have more time to explore the building, grounds, etc.

This review is hard for me because I felt completely different about our dinner than I did our breakfast. Our dinner was unbelievable. We started with the cheese plate that had breads, honey, fruit pate, nuts, and cheeses that never made a bad combo. Then our main courses came. I didn't expect what I got when I was ordering the beet and goat cheese salad. You can see in the picture that it was a layered cheese and beet steak with fresh greens and a citrus dressing. My mind was blown away by the presentation and how delicious it was!! It had some herbiness To it that went amazing with the citrus. Incredible! We also ordered the Wild Boar and I think we were in heaven. We have never had something so tender or juicy before. And the potatoes were almost an au gratin style, but there was some kind of paste that looked like mashed potatoes but it wasn't! It was incredible on the boar! Now for breakfast. I ordered the eggs Benedict, and he the eggs Norwegian. They insisted that their sauce was the best around, so I believed them! We didn't agree, however. It was a sour citrus hollandaise that we didn't expect. We could see how some people may love it since it was different than a normal hollandaise and they may prefer it. The menu was incredible and there were so many options!

We love coming to Edgefield. We come for the atmosphere, the concerts, and, of course, the food. Which is the reason for my review today. We just thoroughly enjoyed an excellent meal. The 3 of us had ribeye steak, wild boar, and roast chicken, respectively. All beautifully presented and delicious. Remarkable desserts, too. The highlight of the meal, however, was, surprisingly, the service. Jason was attentive, quick to accommodate, and incredibly personable. He made an already excellent meal into a great dining experience. Or thanks to the Black Rabbit and to Jason for an enjoyable, relaxing evening.

We spent the morning hiking the Wahkeena-Multnomah Falls trail and were looking for sustenance. Instead of going to the dense Multnomah Lodge for their pricy brunch, we took the Historic Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway about 15 minutes down the road to McMenamins Edgefield Winery where the Black Rabbit Pub is housed. Their breakfast was about half as much as the Lodge and was 10 times better. I had the breakfast sandwich, a croissant filled with scrambled eggs, ham, Gruyere and avocado. My vegetarian wife enjoyed the Edgefield breakfast with veggie sausage. Our waiter Matthew was friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend.

My friends and I stayed the weekend at the hotel. The Black Rabbit bar is where we ordered most of our meals over the few days, and several rounds of drinks. The bloody marys here are excellent. I always ask for mine to be extra spicy, and they were perfect each time. Some of the other pubs on the property don't offer bacon in their bloody Marys so order from the Black Rabbit if you enjoy bacon! I've never been disappointed with breakfast at the Black Rabbit. I usually stick to the biscuits and gravy (light, fluffy, but filling biscuits) or the continental with a cinnamon roll (best ever!) and a fruit cup. The fruit cup has a honey drizzle and just a hint of mint and is so delicious. The bartender was quick to create a refreshing non-alcoholic drink for the pregnant woman in our party, and it looked and tasted just as good as any drink the rest if us ordered! The cheesecake tart with passionfruit sauce was light, and full of fresh flavor. As always, the severs and bartenders were friendly, knowledgeable about the property, and had us laughing a few times.

Always pleased with the food at Black Rabbit. As being boasted as the 'nicer' restaurant on the Edgefield campus I can appreciate that it's not your typical McMenamins pub food. Their menu has changed often over the years...which is fine...but I do miss my crunchy french toast! Prices are fairly reasonable and the staff is professional. Overall good service. Brunch is a great time to go here, but no matter time of day...especially on the weekends, make sure to place a reservation. My last breakfast meal here was their plate of 3 eggs, meat of your choice (I chose pork-apple sausage), toast, and potatoes. Simple breakfast, but good. $10 seemed fair. Plus, add a mimosa or belini and you're set! Their dinner here is quite good as well. I highly recommend trying this place out while at Edgefield!

My sister and I took our mother for an early Mother's Day breakfast. I had the Brioche French Toast, which I have had before and have never been disappointed. It's delicious! The texture is good, the compote is tasty, and the underlying almond praline flavor is lovely. The service was exceptional, even though we opted to eat in the bar, where it was much quieter. We never, ever felt neglected or overlooked, even though we weren't in a more obvious spot. We all had coffee and shared one side of bacon, and the total bill (with tip) averaged $20 each. Definitely not a cheap breakfast! But part of what you pay for at McMenamin's is the quirky, interesting decor, atypical locations and unusual menu items. Edgefield is all of that and more, and it's well worth taking some extra time to look around the lodge and the grounds, which are extensive and home to many things, including a tea house, a distillery, a pub/movie theatre, a winery... and the list goes on!

I ordered the salmon here and it was delicious. It was the best tasting salmon I have ever had. I came with a few friends, and they had mentioned that they had had other types of fish here and they were all very good. They must know how to cook fish very well. It was a little expensive but worth it. The service here was amazing.

I've been here a couple of times. The food is delicious and the service has always been excellent. I was a bit surprised at the prices, but the quality of the food, atmosphere, and service bring it together for a decent value, as long as you know what to expect.

Although the history, setting, decor, and least not, food, make the Black Rabbit an appealing restaurant, management has committed musical malpractice with their tin ear inundation of rock tunes much better suited to bars than the more intimate culinary conversation offered by the Black Rabbit. After all, music helps to set the plate in a restaurant's dining experience, yet the Power Station Pub just next door plays the same set list. So save your money and appetite for an establishment which marries music and mood in harmonious relationship rather than in dysfunctional divorce offered by Black Rabbit. Or, if you must, get your food to go.

I usually stay clear of McMenamins due to the lack of service but this one calls to me at times. I love it's ambience, its roots. I dig it's community feel. You've got a hotel, a brewery, a winery for tasting, a couple of different restaurants, and even a spa. There's a mini golf course. And they do huge name concerts outside in the summer. Basically lots of nooks and crannies. Oh did I mention a cigar bar? Ya. Anyhow. I adore the menu at Black Rabbit. I prefer to sit in the bar then deal with the white tablecloths. I like cozy. We were not starving so we were ready to wait for the server to mosey on over. I had positioned us right next to the bar. It's where they have to exit. Well no need for such planning. We had what looked like a fresh face there just eager to wait on us, with a smile to boot! Fantastic beginning. Maybe less stress for us as we might not need to be flaggers tonight. Got our reading material. They've got like 4 different menus from super high priced numbers to happy hour. We decided to go cheap. Ordered their marinara and couple of salads. Their menu selections are wonderful out this way. You don't get this type of food around here. They've got some decent chefs. I expected my meal to be small as the price was. We got our food and the portion was surprisingly decent. The spaghetti was flavorful with basil leaves here and there to add to the taste. The salad was again, a decent size and the greens were fresh. The service was well represented. I think we will add this place back in as another choice when we are looking for dinner near home. I just hope that our server sets the bar up higher and does not become a sweet memory instead.

This place is great. Wonderful space with ample seating. Great for a romantic evening or meeting with friends. They serve good and drinks all day long. You can stop by to just eat here or fine in while staying at the Edgefield. I found that there were great options and the food matched the description well. Our food came out in order, although a bit of a wait. Everything tasted really fresh and was a perfect temp. I've been here numerous times, but felt I was treated best when actually staying overnight. We came here for Valentines Day as well and had a fantastic experience for dinner and brunch. We were able to just add our tab to our room, which was very convenient. Try to go when you have time to explore the grounds and take in all the beautiful scenery around. The Edgefield has so much to offer, and this is my favorite spot to eat on premises.

The wild boar is amazing! I liked the ravioli we ordered too, if your a vegetarian, other wise get the boar, if your thinking it's a good idea to get multiple things abd split them like we did, don't just get multiple orders of the boar, it's that good!

This was one of the restaurants on my list to dine at during my visit to Oregon from San Diego. It definitely lived up to the reviews. First of all, McMenamin's Edgefield was a bit of an adult playground. I wish I had gotten there during daylight hours so I could have a better look at the grounds, and check out some of the other spots. Black Rabbit for dinner was wonderful. The ambience was nice and warm, the art on the walls was a bit peculiar and didn't seem to fit the spot, but that seemed to be the norm for any place within 30 minutes of Portland. There were some old timey Christmas carolers in the dining room - for the 5th of December, it was a little early for Christmas for me, but it was a nice touch nonetheless. I had the braised lamb shank and it was one of my favorite meals from my week-long trip. The meat fell right off the bone and was very flavorful. The sides were my favorite thing about the dish though - I've never liked brussel sprouts, but I devoured the ones on my plate, they were perfect! The risotto cake was also a nice touch - great texture and so much flavor in one little cake. I pretty much left nothing but bone on my plate by the end. Delicious!

For the limited menu and sparse number of patrons, our lunch at the Black Rabbit was incredibly slow. Slow getting drinks, slow getting order, slow getting food to the table. The food was decent but unfortunately the speed, or lack thereof, overshadowed any gustatory enjoyment. Perhaps the vibe is more laid back than we were expecting for a midday lunch, however even by liberal standards for casual dining this was out of bounds. If you have a couple of hours to kill and don't mind a limited lunch menu, then this is your place. If however you expect that your cheese is aged before it arrives at your eating establishment then move along.

The Black Rabbit Restaurant promises so much - with a new chef, cool digs in the McMennamins Edgefield Hotel, and the fact that they are located in east-county Portland (an area with a true dearth of fine dining eateries) - yet, they deliver so little. We went for a group dinner. Our table of 5 ordered a wide assortment of items off the menu. We started with a couple of cocktails and a bottle of bubbly. As we waited for the salads and first course to arrive, the waiter came to our table to report "good and bad news." His good news - "your food is almost ready." His bad news - "I am not sure how this happened, but all of your dishes are coming out at once. That won't be a problem will it?" Yikes. We had a table filled with dishes - all getting cold at once. It was not a great meal by any stretch of the definition. Sure - the scallops were great; but, it was hard to get past the fact that I was competing with two other dishes to eat the scallops before everything was stone cold. After dinner I sought out the manager to express my concern that the restaurant, at only about 40% capacity during our dining experience, might want to be consider options that could be deployed to prevent a "all dishes on deck" experience for other patrons (as we had experienced). She was very kind and stated she would talk to the server to let him know of our concern. She did not, however, offer any kind of an apology or explanation. It was a bit hallow. The lesson - drive into Portland (heck, we live in the downtown area) and get great food and great service. The Black Rabbit has the potential to be a great place - but there are a few really critical issues that need to be addressed before they are ready for prime time.

Unlike my last review or the Cedar Hills McMenamins - quick service, Servers / Bartenders who smile... (What a concept; act happy & smile in the service industry). Quick drink refills, check ins by the server, and lack of "hipster" attitude! Had a good dining experience!

Yea! Love this place! They've got the best breakfast to choose from! I had beets hash and it was absolutely delicious! Since our stay there for breakfast we decided to stay there in a couple months for a weekend and I can't wait! I never had to request more water and my hubs had a constant refill for his coffee. I would recommend this place for anyone!

The Black Rabbit has definitely improved, in my opinion. We were there recently for a birthday and enjoyed dinner and breakfast the following morning. For dinner we shared a beet salad, pumpkin ravioli and wild boar, and each dish was delicious. The wild boar, in particular, was outstanding. It tasted like the best pot roast you ever had, and not very much like pork. A good thing for me. Breakfast was simple, eggs, hash browns, toast and coffee to recover from too much wine the previous night. But everything was delish, especially the yukon gold hash browns. Golden, crispy comfort food. I did find the dinner ambience too dark, hence 4 instead of 5 stars. I couldn't read the menu, even after borrowing an extra candle from another table. Otherwise, yum!

The rating is for the breakfast. I was expecting IHOP style breakfast, and I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered an eggs Norwegian (think eggs Benedict, but with salmon) and a Brioche French toast (see pictures). The eggs Norwegian was delicious: the english muffin provided a crunch, the salmon had a smooth texture, and the poached egg oozed a yellow yoke when I cut into it. All this showed how much they actually cared about preparing the dish correctly. The French toast was also good. The berry compote used ingredients from their own farm, and the toast had a crunchy exterior that complemented its softer interior. Entrees were between the $10-$15 range. Not cheap, but not too expensive. The service was great. Our waiter was friendly and attentive.

The food and service was awesome. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really great too. I loved all the murals and restaurant set up. My boyfriend and I tried this place for the first time after the Panic at the Disco concert. They had a specialty menu because of that, so the options were slightly limiting, but it was still a good selection. I had the Blue lake green bean & mushroom salad which was fantastic. I definitely recommend it, especially if you like strong cheeses. The soup of the day was an eggplant curry, which was also very tasty. My boyfriend had a burger which was also very good and the fries were really fresh. The best part was the ice cream for dessert. GET THE CHOCOLATE. Seriously the best chocolate ice cream I've had in my life. Ever. I'm not exaggerating. I'll definitely be coming back to eat!

This place is delicious which we found by sheer luck. We had been drinking all day so of course we were starving, reservations were made for 6 and even though we arrived early we did not have to wait at all. I ordered the wild mushroom ravioli (amazing), bacon wrapped scallops (yum) and wild boar with veggies and a broccoli purée(omg delicious). The food, service and ambiance were all great and I cannot wait to visit again!

I always enjoy edgefield; great food, awesome beer and an all around good environment. Personally, I wasn't satisfied with the black rabbit. It was good but the price was too high for what you get. I'd recommend saving the extra money and just eating from the regular menu.

The black rabbit was amazing. Splurge, relax, eat something nice.I was highly impressed with both my dinner and my breakfast and so was my boyfriend. The Chef's set menu is bomb. Bomb=best. Let me tell you why! You get a bit of everything for one price. It's 45 each. The caesar salad was the best I have ever eaten its tender romaine leaves, garlic croutons, creamy parmesan dressing. Andrew got: blue lake green bean & mushroom salad with a truffle vinaigrette, cave aged gruyère, toasted pine nuts. I wanted to eat all of his! I have never went home and dreamed about tasting a salad as much as I dream about those. Next, Andrew had cold smoked, slow cooked wild boar which was so good, I was eating it off of his plate. I had the grilled wagyu beef sirloin steak which was also good but it came with this "bone marrrow potato galette" which to me looked and tasted like a crispy potato patty that was flattened and inserted with a weird juice. Not for me! But no fear, you also get dessert! Breakfast we both got the brioche french toast. Let me describe this to you. Imagine huge fluffy pieces of french toast, with a crispy crust of sweet amaretto taste and covered in fresh fruit compote from the garden! yum yum yum i want to go back right now yum.

Really enjoyed our cocktails and the food. It's a touch overpriced otherwise this little restaurant would get 5 stars. The location is really nifty too. Very much so worthy of a nice night out. Can't wait to return and share this spot with friends and family when they visit.

Ok...Black Rabbit has always been one of my favorite places, esp for brunch. That's why when my friend took me there for my birthday I jumped at the chance. The only reason I didn't give Rabbit five stars was because I was very disappointed at the very abbreviated menu. It was very different from what I remember, however the pork shank was terrific. There were six entree choices...come on. The beverage menu was extensive but when I requested a tawny port after dinner...not available. This tells me that mgmt is more interested in making money from the beverages. Service was excellent. I'll probably return but for brunch only.

2nd visit, 2nd success. Plenty of gluten-free options, endless coffee, and good food. We will return regularly. The menu on yelp has crazy (wrong) prices. Ignore it. Go to their website instead. We spent about $35 (including a $6 tip) each time for a very tasty, filling breakfast.

The Black Rabbit is an excellent "nicer" place in the McMennamins world of restaurants. Still friendly and accommodating, but they've really taken all the food and atmosphere up a notch. Uniquely seasoned and delicious - all food, drink and desserts have been wonderful. We would gladly come back even if we aren't staying here. Plus the adjoining venues on the property - it's a great experience.
