Definitely the best of the Chang's locations I've been to. The others are not as clean as this one is. The one goof they did make was giving my significant other's food to another customer, by accident, so he had to go back and start all over again. Still, very good value for the money. The soups are always quite good too.

Bottom Line at the top: Its exactly what it says it is but this location has a fresh feel and well kept interior. It had been over a year since I had tried any location of Chang's and with the coupon from my Entertainment book it looked like a good time to try again. After finding out about this new(er) venue. This used to be a Carrows then a Main St Grill before its latest incarnation as the Mongolian buffet. Dinner offered salmon which I went for twice after finding out how well the chefs do with it on the grill. All the foods looked fresh without anything seeming to be wilted or exposed too long. Pineapple and tomato's had rich color which shows me they were recently provided and might not even come from a can. On the front desk there was a sign for a Happy Hour from 2 to 4 where you can go in for 5.95 but I don't know how long that will be offered as its not stated on the website.

A long time ago, I went to my first Chang's Mongolian Grill on NE 122nd, and it was such a disappointment. Fast forward to 2012, Jesse and I were hungry on Friday night, but we didn't want to venture out of our SW P Town area. We drove to Chang's because he told me it's pretty pretty good. The place was packed, but we got seated right away. The server came and asked if we would like Egg Flower Soup or Hot & Sour soup, a salad, and if we would like rice or crepes. We opted for Hot & Sour soup, no salad, and just steamed rice. Then we proceeded to the buffet line. They stocked everything pretty full. They have frozen beef, chicken, pork, Salmon, Cod, shrimps, imitation crabs, noodles, tofu, and veggies. I piled up two bowls, one for my meat and one for my noodles & veggies. I seasoned everything with hot sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, cooking sherry, lime juice, and salt. We brought our bowls to the cooking station and those cooks worked their butts off. They were fast and fun to watch. We ate our food and noodles filled me up quickly. We went for second round and I just got some meats and veggies without noodles. Surprisingly, second round was better than the first one. I was thinking maybe because I didn't get any noodles, so my meal wasn't to greasy, and too filling. One thing that was a let down was the hot & sour soup. It was too watery and there was no flavor at all. It's not hot nor sour. The good news is that we like our meals. We barely finished our plates, the server came, and asked if we were ready for ice creams. WOOT? We didn't know that our meals came with ice creams. We couldn't refused ice creams so we accepted them. They were yummy and perfect to end the meal. Our bills came up to $23.90, so it was $11.95 per person. I think that's a good deal. I think we will come back here again when we are in the mood for some mongolian bbq.

Never had a bad experience at this restaurant. Just revisited this changs after not going for about 1 year and the cook still remembers who i am and thanked me for coming in. Food is good as long as you make it that way. Knocked down a star because it can get pretty dirty around the buffet line. I think they should have someone cleaning it more often.

My family and I went to this place for lunch while on vacation in Portland. I'm giving it 4 stars because I think the good outweighs the bad. First, the good. The selection of food is good. They have beef, pork, chicken, lamb, fish, and I think turkey too. Veggies selection is good too, and they look fresh. (See pictures.) They have a lot of sauces and the flavor is good. The restaurant is nice, clean and spacious. The waitress came over 2 or 3 times to check on us. Lunch price was only $9, which is fantastic. These are all good. Now, what keeps this place from getting 5 stars from me is how they cook the food. Their chefs are not gentle with the food. They mix and stir so hard that your noodles are all under 2" by the time they're done. Plus, food stick on their inverted wok like crazy, maybe the wok is too hot, or too dry or what, but I've never seen food stick on the cooking surface like that before. After every 3 or 4 servings, the chef was scraping a thick layer of blackened food from the wok. CRAZY! But in the end, the food still tasted good and I enjoyed my meal, so I'm giving it 4 stars.

First time here with my fiance and his family, another great find right next to the Quality Inn they were staying at. We were skeptical at first but once we realized that it was an all-you-can-eat buffet we were excited to try it. It turned out wonderful! There was a wide arrange of selections for both meat and vegetables so there is the opportunity to make whatever kind of meal you like! The selection of sauces and oils was also very impressive. Pretty much you grab a bowl or two and fill it up with what you'd like and then hand it to the chefs who cook it up right in front of you in about 5 minutes. The chefs were charming especially the older one who did cute little tricks while cooking the meal. We were all pleasantly surprised with how delicious our selections turned out! I also have to say that the mango lemonade was sweet and delicious! To top the wonderful meal off with an even lovelier surprise was when we found out that the little scoop of vanilla soft serve ice cream (with chocolate, caramel or peanuts on top) was part of the meal!! Once again if your in the area or especially if you're staying at the Quality Inn we all recommend this restaurant.

Wish they had the rice and soups on the buffet with everything else. Instead you have to ask the server to bring you some. Food is excellent; I must be a great chef.

Good food, but the food is wayyyy over priced and they don't let you have take home boxes. If you charge a lot, I at least except you to allow take home boxes. There are definitely better restaurants out there that serve the same type of food.

This place gets a five star review because I make a bitch'n sauce mixture leaving me with the most amazing plate of food ever. Wait... ever? OK maybe not ever but dannng this is good. Add to it the rice wraps and plum sauce.. OH BE STILL. Throw some moola to the grill guys, they are a happy lot and try to make you experience fun. Always good service, clean environment.

All you can eat for cheap. Mix and match your ingredients right to get the tight stir fry. How it all tastes is up to you. Very entertaining cook. Be sure to leave him some tip.

If you don't like Changs your doing it wrong. Go for lunch and don't eat breakfast. Wear lose fitting pants. Use two bowls, one for meat and noodles and the other for the vegetables. Repeat until busting at the seems. Go home and take a nap afterwards.

Time for another update, since we still eat here all the time. This time was not a good experience. They weren't very busy. There was no line. There were two servers and two cooks, but no one cleaning the buffet so it was a big mess. After our server took our drink order, she never came back until it was time to drop off the check, even though we tried to flag her down at least a half dozen times. The food was dry, gritty, and tasted a little bit "off," so we really would have liked to get drink refills and a bottle of spicy sauce so we could try and get it down. I really dislike wasting food, and I'm very careful not to get more than I can eat, but this time we couldn't come close to finishing. We'll be back; because hopefully this was a singular incident, but without adequate service or good food, it's not worth it at all.

This is my favorite location and such a great place to take friends for lunch. We are like regulars now and the staff always remembers us and is super nice. Our kids even love going to Chang's! So good one of my top lunch spots for sure :)

I've been to quite a few Mongolian BBQ restaurants in my day, and I always enjoyed going to Chang's. They didn't limit you to one bowl for your visit and even allowed multiple bowls per trip. Fresh, quality ingredients are always well stocked on their BBQ. In addition, rice, rice wraps, and ice cream are included with each visit. The lines get long sometimes (like Friday lunch), but in general it is pretty good.

One of my favorite standby restaurants. It's always fresh and made right in front of you & you get to load your meal the way you like it. Today it just hit the spot.

This was our first time at Chang's and it was....meh... ok. It was kind of confusing as we had never been to this type of restaurant before. We go in and are seated and we are told how it works. They offer partial table service. First off they offer us soup and salad and beverages that are not a serve yourself part of the buffet. They offered us wraps which we declined . I didn't really understand what they meant by wraps. Do they mean egg rolls? When they brought the soup out it was unlike any other hot and sour soup I have ever had. It was more like salt and pepper soup. Not good I would recommend skipping this. I would highly recommend that they change this recipe. The salad was just a bowl of lettuce with some ranch dressing on it. Mr. Chad was not impressed. So how it works is one goes up to the'buffet' and picks up a bowl that only holds 11/2-2cups choose your meat. chicken, seafood, lamb, etc. Much to my surprise there is no rice on the table, there is some undercooked, hard to chew lo main. Next choose your veggies, tofu, sprouts, cilantro, hot peppers. Then finish it off with the various sauces in which to choose such as soy, lime, chili oil, ginger , garlic, etc. Then you take your bowl up to the round counter, take out a couple of dollars for tip so they will sauté your dinner right in front of you on this large hot stone. If you tell them your are a vegetarian they will water down and scrape the stone so your food is not cooked where meat was touching. The patrons watch as the food is cooked down to about 75% of what you had in the bowl to start with. After that they plate it up and hand it back to you. One looks down and thinks hmmmm.... this is only 3/4 cup of food. One has to do the process 2-3 times to get filled up. Makes one feel like a piggy to go up again and again. Not a tremendous value here folks. Oh you can get rice. You have to ask for it and they bring it out. It is not on the "buffet." I have to say I tried to put copious amounts of sauces on it, 1/4 cup garlic on it and the flavors just were not there. I had to get some sriracha that flavored it to my liking. Soft serve ice cream comes with the meal but it is not an all you care to eat situation. They bring that out to you. A few suggested changes: -Put rice on the buffet. Not just plain white rice. There should be other choices of rice. Also an option for veggie fried rice would be nice. -Offer serve yourself beverages, ice cream, soup and salad for value factor. -They should announce when they are closing the grill down for the night. This would prevent patrons from filling up their plate and take it over only to find out that the grill is closed. (last call announcement) The service was excellent despite the fact that they are always hiring as per their sign out front. They have an area that one can hold a small birthday party in behind the sauté counter. Unless you eat huge bowls of meat every time, this experience was not a tremendous value. A supper price of $29.00 for two people at a partial all you can eat situation. On top of the tipping the sauté masters, and the partial waitstaff, it is a better value to go to the grocery just down the street and pick up some precut veggies and shaved meat of your choice and sauté it yourself at home. meh.....

This is my favorite restaurant, easily. I am ALWAYS in the mood for Changs. Don't waste your time with the Gladstone location, it doesn't hold a candle.

Overall very tasty and fresh. The service was nice, and checked in with us several times. They were happy to ask for tips at the grill and again on the check, so make sure you bring a few extra bucks for the grill masters :) It wasn't so busy when arrived. I would probably return for lunch next time to save a few pennies. Didn't give five stars for a few reasons. The "salad" that comes free with the meal was just dressing and lettuce. Also the beef was a bit tough. finally, the cost for dinner seemed a bit high for the selection offered.

Worth the $10 (+tip). ..The chefs are always friendly. And people complaining theres no salad; ...its Mongolian, if you want salad go someplace else. So (considering its Mongolian) this place is a really great place to eat out. I came in at a quiet time (12:45) so im not sure how it is during busier hours.

Love it!!! With 4 grand sons this place is a bargain. Once you have down the sauces the food is wonderful. It's fun to watch the cooks do their thing with twists and turns. Easy to get to, quick service and good eats, it's worth your time.

This place doesn't allow you to take home your leftovers!! What's up with that? I've been to a lot of other Mongolian restaurants... and as far as taste goes, this place was probably the worst.

It's a three star place but I'm giving it 4 stars because it's one of the few places I can eat low carb til I'm full without spending too much money. (and the short grillmaster is a hoot to watch so bonus points for him) The service ain't exactly fine dining but hey, it's an Asian place. (just remember that folks - Asians aren't exactly the cloyingly sweet and friendly type. Not cuz they're mean spirited but because of the language barrier. They're just more reserved) You come in, they seat you, ask if you want soup, rice/flour wraps (all included in the buffet price) and you go pile meats, veggies onto a plate to get stirfried. I skip the noodles altogether because I'm usually low-carbing when I'm eating here. (ditto on the rice and wraps as well as the sundae that comes out at the end of the meal) The grilling station can get backlogged at peak times (lunch, mainly) but the wait isn't too bad. I just wish they had more sauce options than the lone sickly sweet bottles of teriyaki (I bring my own bottle of sauce in my purse. Yeah,I'm hardcore. LOL) For under $10, I can eat a gut busting amount of stirfried meats and veggies so I'm a happy camper.

I love coming here, the food is great and very tasty! The restaurant is very clean and organized. The waiters/waitresses are not as friendly as the waiters/waitresses at the Beaverton location. The chefs cook everything pretty fast. The only thing that I don't like and noticed is that the buffet table is very wide and many people bend over the food and veggies from the other side of the table and so does their hair. And hair can and probably does get in the food. But I still love coming here but more than likely will be going to the Beaverton location instead.

A good Mongolian BBQ overall and I have been to quite a few. The rest of the food is so-so at best but I'm just there for the meat and vege heaven that is Mongolian BBQ! Now if someone could do this with Organic veg and pasture meats I'd pay far more and I'd be there every day.

Always have loved Chang's. Fantastic family atmosphere. I have always enjoyed the choose your own ingredients idea. You can make it as large as you want at no further cost. Fish options, plethora of sauce options (yum plum sauce), and great jasmine tea. And it's a plus to watch your meal be cooked on the grill top right in front of you.

  • Ramie M.

It's a Chang's Mongolian Grill and you get just that. Pretty fast service except when it is busy, in which case things just become a cluster*. Could use some better upkeep of the food/meat area as it always seems to look like it just got hit with some sort of explosion, even when it isn't busy. The cooks are nice enough, and always cook the food well. The sriracha and teriyaki and other sauces are always filled. The tables are...clean enough. The waitresses are nice. You know what Chang's needs? An option to pay more and have your food made/served for you. I'd happily pay a little extra to *not* have to stand in the lines and at the cooks, etc.

    (4)
  • Eric S.

A buffet of awesome meats, vegetables, and noodles. A friendly staff that brings rice and wraps if you'd like. The only drawback I feel was the noodles were cooked on the grill without any additional water/teriyaki sauce (as I have seen other similar grills do). The result, the noodles tend to get a lil burnt. It is safe to say you can go here and eat an over abundance of food. Feel like indulging or overindulging in food to feel good about relaxing on the couch afterward? Perfect place! Enjoy.

Cheap if you can eat a lot. Good if you can spice food properly. Here, it's all on you baby! Took the fam here for dinner and got great service. They were very prompt to refill kids drinks etc. Kids love the creative process of making their own food here. At least up to the cooking point. It can be a bit of a wait in line to get your concoction grilled. After 8 at night, things get quicker. It's a place that I would go to monthly I would say. Tip. Skip the upsell on rice and wraps. They have noodles on the food bar for free.

Like the rating guide says Meh. I've experienced better. would of rather of spent 30 dollars at somewhere with a bigger variety of food that didn't have a creepy Asian cook checking out my girlfriend the whole time wish I could get a refund. Plus got sick the next day woooo :)

I've had quite a bit of Mongolian food before and this place is alright. It just seems very buffet like. The service was okay, not overly impressive. The staff wasn't bad, but they weren't necessarily super attentive either. I wasn't greeted by anyone that made me happy I came there. The food is alright also. Just lacking a lot of flavor. It seemed like the chef didn't really know how to cook the noodles either. Every time I got noodles he always burnt them. This isn't a place I'm likely to go to again.

  • Natalie M.

I'm usually a fair at giving ratings but I'm not going to lie, having dinner here gave me a gassy stomach ache and I kept it pretty clean...eating some meat and veggies no noodles and a tad of rice, it's the quality of the meat ... It's kinda disappointing because I like the taste and our waitress was nice, but I can't expect much from an all you can eat asain food establishment, hence the two stars! Different strokes for different folks!

Things I like about Changs: Lot's of variety in terms of protiens, veggies, and what not. For lunch - around $10 will get you PLENTY of food from the buffet line plus rice, wraps, and soup, AND ice cream. Don't forget the ice cream. The staff is friendly, the cooks are fun. It's a quick decent meal and yes, if you are THAT hungry you can help yourself to more. Things that don't bring me back to Changs often: The food overall is OK - I feel like it's a bit on the greasy side sometimes...and this is due to all the oils and crap that I typically try not to add to my meal but are needed to cook the food. Even using a ridiculous amount of the flavored oils - your food still won't taste like it. It will cook out. You are best to add the jalapenos and cilantro. It get's crowded. Be prepared to wait in line for a bit. Also be prepared to carry 2 bowls through the line. Between the frozen meats and noodles/veggies....it's hard to fit in the little bowl. All in all it's not a bad stop. For Dinner hours you'll have to shell out a few more bucks.

I really like mongolian BBQ, it can be pretty healthy food, and it's nice how customizable it is. Chang's though is definitely not my favorite place. The greeter and waiter were less than friendly or attentive. The food was so-so. Like others wave said, the cooks really don't do all that great of a job. You're standing there, and they are standing there while it's on the grill, and they aren't attentive enough to it and it singes. The hot and sour soup is gawd-awful also. Probably the worst I've ever had. Anyway, I don't hate Chang's, I might be back some day, but I certainly don't like it well enough to recommend, or visit frequently.

This place has something for everyone! you pick what you would like in your bowl, such as what meat, veggies and even your sauce and they cook it up for you. I have been to some of their other locations and this is the best by far. My kids even enjoy coming here because they can make their own and I love bringing them because I know they will eat.

  • Christiane B.

When the cooks were scraping the frying table the scrapes of burnt food from other people's dishes flung into my food. They let it literally burn onto the surface and scrapped the burnt bits onto my plate. When I got to my table the soups were had just been served were already cold. The egg flour soup was way sweet, the hot & sour soup was only sour. The salt in the shaker was solid & wouldn't come out. The only positive was how friendly or waiter was.

One of my favorite places. I love Mongolian Grills in general, but this is a really good one, and the best of the Chang's chain I've been to. I'm not sure how anyone can not like it. You get to choose from an assortment of meats and vegetables (if you eat those thing...I don't...I'm a carnivore), top it off with sauces, have it cooked right in front of you, and then repeat as often as you like.

  • Kath A.

My family loves to eat here. My mom loves to watch the grill chefs especially to one who does a little spin. It's amazing that they don't get burned especially when the flames go shooting up off the grill. Everyone gets what they want. Love it, yum!

This is one of my favorites among the various Mongolian places in the area. I find there are more tasty selections here and I'm a huge fan of the spinach noodles. The friendly (but very busy hence slow) waitstaff bring out rice, soup/salad, and rice wraps with your meal and a small bowl of ice cream at the end. The chefs are fast and don't overcook the food. Everyone is just so much more friendly here and they accommodate large groups well. Another nice bonus is that they provide hand sanitizer at the beginning and end of the food line, which is especially helpful with all the do-it-yourselfers clumsily spilling sauces and making the floor and serving areas all sticky. Unfortunately, they don't take Discover. Value: 5 Ambiance: 3 Food: 5 Service: 4 TL;DR: One of the better Mongolian buffets and pretty damn good

As of now, my reviews will forever change. 2 months ago my kidneys failed, and now I am dialysis. Dialysis requires a strict monitoring of sodium, potassium, and phosphorus. This trio exist is many things. From now on my reviews will include how well a place fits within a dialysis based diet. So Chang has been a lifelong place for me. Started going there when I was 5. Started eating then when I was 7 (we had happy meals ebfore then) and I even adopted a mongolian grill by UW in Seattle. I have seen some bad mongolian grills (sadly, other Chang's) and some good ones. This one is definitely good. The service isn't too good, but the food quality and cleanliness are great. It also goes very well with my diet. Because it is just whatever I put on it, I can control which suaces and ingredients I use. It doesn't taste as great now that I have to go easy on the soy sauce, but not that great for Chang's is still much better than most places' good.

i have been going to the changs in beaverton since i was young, over the years it has gone downhill, yes the food is still delicious but the atmosphere and decor needs some SERIOUS updating... I was so delighted to find that this changs had the same great food but was cleaner, more open and newer looking.. very impressed with this changs.. i will no longer go to the other changs in beaverton. Way better at this tigard location!! The choice is syrup on your ice cream was a definite added bonus!

Your typical Chang's Mongolian. You get choice of soups hot and sour or egg flower or salad. I had hot and sour which was ok but certainly not the best I've eaten. The buffet line; meats include beef, chicken, pork, salmon, shrimp, crab, white fish, and calamari. Regular noodles or spinach flavored. Vegetables include carrots, celery, onions , sprouts, green peppers, mushrooms , green onions, miniature corn , water chestnuts, and tomatoes. Sauces including soy , garlic, ginger, sesame, lime, hot and oyster. How good it turns out is really up to you. The friendly guys on the grill are fun to watch and they put on a show tossing empty bowls onto the stack, chopping and dicing the food, then serving it up on a plate and flying it to you. Drinks are reasonably priced. Had a fat tire amber for $3.50 but miller or bud are $3 a glass. Pretty good considering I'd normally pay $5-6. My waitress Joanna was great. Very attentive and friendly. I ate about 6pm and wasn't too busy but picked up by 7 pm. Still people didn't have to wait long to get their food cooked. Overall a good experience.

I really enjoy having lunch at Chang's. So much, that my co-workers and I have gone a few times now. For starters, there is plenty of parking. The restaurant is also extremely clean, at least at lunch time. I love being able to customize my meal by choosing exactly what and how much of it that I want in my yakisoba Chang's offers a large selection of vegetables, as well as meats and fish in their buffet. There are also many different options for sauce. The only trick is knowing what sauces (ie sesame oil, oyster sauce, garlic sauce, sugar water etc) to add to your bowl. Too much of any one thing can ruin your meal. Luckily, if you screw up, you can go back to the buffet and recreate another dish. After loading up on ingredients, you take your bowl/bowls to the chef's who stir-fry them up on a giant grill. It's fun to watch because they often showboat with your food, flipping and chopping away - like they think they're Tom Cruise in Cocktail. My one suggestion would be a recipe board to instruct you on which combination of sauces work well together. There is something on the wall, but it pretty much just lists your sauce options and doesn't clearly instruct which ones and how much of each will make popular stir-fry flavors. Lastly, although beverages are an additional cost, the price of your meal includes an ice-cream sundae. I've never left this restaurant not completely stuffed. Although I don't like how overboard I go, I've gotten good at making a plate I thoroughly enjoy and can't help myself.

LIsten, this place is way better than the "Mongolian BBQ" down the road for two main reasons. 1. You can get salad if you don't want soup and 2. They give you ice cream, with caramel and chocolate sauce. That's worth one star alone right there. Also, this place is about 100% clesner and more inviting. It's worth the few extra bucks you pay.

I have all these fond memories of the Mongolian Grill, and after a lunch trip with some coworkers, it's gratifying to find that the experience wasn't softened by time, so to speak. What I'm trying to say is that this was some delicious food - food that appeals to me as a programmer, I think, because you get together your components, and then compile (cook) it, see what it's like, and then go back again, fix some things, try it again, as often as you can fit in your stomach. You have no excuse if your food isn't good, because you're the one making it. As for my latest excursion: round one was pineapple pork with ginger and garlic, round two was spicy lamb with vinegar and lime juice, and round three was garlic and sesame chicken and noodles. The people cooking the food looked like they were having fun (I mean, wouldn't you?) Service was good, basically I have no complaints, and you're crazy if you think I'm not going to be paying a return visit pretty soon. also, protip - if you go near closing, you get to see what the staff make for themselves, which is interesting. also, don't be a jerk - tip the cooks.

I heart this place. What is more to ask than crafting your own meal? If you are vegetarian/vegan, there are plenty of veggies to choose from. If you like meat, grab as many bowl as you want (that you can carry of course) and pile them up sky high. Fun to watch them cook your food in front of you too. I always go here for lunch. Too often if you ask me :) but this is all you can eat and come with a cup of soup and a cup of ice cream (you can opt out of soup and ice cream). price is pretty cheap and service is good. I've been to the one in beaverton and this one trumps the other. Cleaner and plenty of sunlight. I feel like i was walking into a cave for the one in beaverton and it was messier than Tigard.

This is not quite the same as the original changs up at tanasbourne. The noodles seem larger and mushy. I used the same sauces to cook with but somehow it came out a bit tasteless. The good thing though was that our waiter was prompt and friendly, and they offered chocolate or caramel topping on our ice cream.

Delicious, can be very healthy if you make it that way. Friendly staff, it was clean inside, reasonably priced for lunch. I'll be back again.

One of my favorite places to go. Love the food always fresh. The place was a little messy but they were very busy and not enough help to keep clean. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Will come back.

I let them know I had never been there before. Everyone was super nice & explained everything to me as I went down the line. A little pricey and after the first plate I couldn't see going back for more. Even if it was all you could eat. Ice cream, choice of Carmel or chocolate topping was included. I used hot oil to flavor my items & other hot sauces they had for my broccoli beef. But that's just me. I like it hot. Overall experience was good & I will come back again.

OH yell yes! If you a rea man then this is the place for you. Endless meat of all kinds, stir fried with veggies noodles or whatever you fancy. dozens and dozens of offers creatives many thousands of possible variations on your meal. Then amazing plumb sauce that you can use to lift up the flavors to an even greater glory. This is my favorite cheap restaurant bar none. Highly reccomend!

We go here when ever in the neighborhood. Staff is friendly, the food is fresh, and the variety of sauces are the best I have seen. We have never been disappointed and it is always a different flavor depending on what I use to add. We like it allot!. Not enough help cleaning tables but they do their best I think . Prices not bad either especially during the lunch hour!

We love this place! The food and cooks are great! The only reason I gave a 3 star is because the service is poor. What's unfortunate is there isn't much servicing required but it still seems to be difficult. Which it to bad.....

How much are you people eating? Yes it's all you can eat, and I'm usually stuffed after one time through the bar. IF you must you can go back twice but I think a third time would make my pancreas shoot out my pants. I must be used to the rythm and timing of Chang's because it only takes me a few minutes to zip through the line. The first time through at a lunch rush might take 15 minutes at the most. For the uninitiated, at Chang's you pick out items from a wok bar, like at New Season's and then make your own sauce choosing from various oils, vinager, sugar, salt, and peppers. There's a large selection of veggies and meat. Although sensitive veggitarians might not like the setup because food can mix on the community wok. Your food won't get confused for someone else's but your all veggie meal could end up with a slice of pork in it. There's two types of people in the world. Those who enjoy Chang's and those who don't. For the latter, I think one tip that makes or breaks the experience is the saucing up of the food prior to when it hits the grill. If you've never dined on the flat grill stir fry at Chang's you might make something tasteless. That's because you do NOT want to follow their sauce board. Unless of course you're one of those people who think spaghetti sauce is spicy. Then, by all means enjoy the recipe on the sauce board. Here's my typical blend for meat meals: All measurements are vaguely calculated using the ladles provided. And this assumes I have 2 bowls of food, one for veggies and one for meat. Anytime you see (2) it is one per bowl. Anytime you see (1) it's divided. 2-3 vinegar 2 Oyster Oil 1/2 Sesame Oil 1 Hot Oil (optional, depends on my grease intake) 4 Garlic 2 Ginger 3 Soy Sauce Extra dry peppers from the wok line. 1 Salt Water (if you like salty foods) or 1 Sugar Water (if you like sweeter terriyaki) IF you're on this side you might want to add pineapple and cooking sherry too. Back in the day Chang's used to only offer sweet plum sauce, so I would add hot oil every time to get the heat up. Now they have Siracha and a house made chili sauce at the end of the line. Once the food is cooked you can use these to spice your plate. Lately that has inspired me to use less hot oil or none at all because of the amount of grease that it imparts. One last tip is that I caution you on the ice cream served free at the end of your meal. It's just soft serve, and if you can resist it your stomach will thank you. Ice Cream and fried carbs and protiens do NOT mix. It'll cause your stomach to get confused and take much longer to digest the big meal you just ate. If I'm going back to work I never eat the ice cream because it kills my ethic. If I could make one suggestion to the owners of Chang's it would be to use some organic foods. Maybe they do, but the question always crosses my mind becasue there's no labeling or information to know where all these meats and veggies are coming from. Oh well, it's still good! :)

If you have ever been to Hoo Hut or Mango's Mongolian Grill in the Midwest, this is a complete disappointment. The meat appeared to be thawed which grossed us out, the sauce choices were very limited (vinegar, salt water, soy sauce, garlic and something) there were no teryaki or Kahn(sp?) sauces. When they are cooking your meal the continue spraying it with water, so our food had no flavor because it was completely watered down and I had filled the bowl with sauce. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

My husband and I went on Father's Day. It may have been extra-busy because of that, but judging from some regulars' comments, maybe not. In any case, they tell you to take not too much, "you can always come back". Um. Given that it can take 30+ minutes to get through the line to get your food cooked, I'd suggest you ignore that advice. We arrived a couple hours before the end of lunch and managed to get through the line just twice (counting the pause between for eating which, admittedly, takes longer with a toddler on your lap). I did get enough, because on the second time through I was less conservative, and because I wasn't very hungry - but I wasn't real impressed with the "all you can eat buffet" coupled with "line that takes forever to go through". If you have a kid who needs a high chair (not booster seat) along, and who might be interested in what's on the table, ask them if they have a table that is actually the same height. I don't know if they do. Knowing our son was going to eat (we said so!) and that he needed a high chair, they gave us a booth on a slightly raised floor where the table was a good foot higher than his body seated in the high chair. So he spent most of the meal on our laps, which works but isn't the most convenient. The food is pretty good, though. If you have the patience for that sort of line, or are willing to take more and risk having more than you can eat by taking more at once (which they don't want you to do, but then, they're the ones who set up that oh-so-charming bottleneck), you probably won't run into the timing issue, and the high chairs aren't an issue with older kids who can sit in the booth/on a seat.

I ate here on average of 5-10 times a month (Sunset Hwy/99 one) as I used to live in Beaverton (1996-1998) but traveled for a living so it was a nice, healthy alternative to coming home to a refrigerator full of nothing. The staff used to greet me by name and I NEVER had a complaint about this place- ever. This still is the only M-BBQ I've eaten at in the U.S. (there may be others) that has fresh meat, not frozen. Big difference in flavor. The sauces were good, the produce always fresh. This place deserves all of the accolades it gets. I miss it dearly.

I usually love this place and maybe this was a one off issue, but.......Mongolian Grill is a treat for my family. We go about once a month and always are excited. This time however, we felt like we were not important. Upon going through the bar to get items to be grilled, I noticed that they were out of tofu, I asked someone at the front desk if they could restock, he looked at me and said "I don't know" and walked away. I had to ask a second person and she took care of it. I guess my request got to the grill, and when I took my food up, the guy at the grill glared at me. He then preceded to burn all the flavor and edibility out of the food. The tofu was burned to a crisp. Maybe my family and I need a new place for our monthly treat

The Good: It's all-you-can-eat Mongolian food for less than $15, so it sounds like a pretty good deal. That includes rice, moo shu pancakes, and soup. There a lot of ingredients to choose from, which makes a limitless number of combinations. The Bad: When it's time to season the dish yourself, it gets tricky. I like the idea that the customer can really get specific about what they put in it, but the average person has no idea how to season. I can't keep track of the right proportion of meat to noodles to veggies to sauces. Yeah, I can try again because it's AYCE, but I do have to finish all my food before I grab a new plate, which means I probably have to eat food that is either bland or over seasoned. Another thing that bothered me...other Mongolian grill places the cooks will grill up to two plates at once, but here, they grill up to six. While this does increase efficiency, it also decrease quality; less time spent on a dish (I got some undercooked veggies) or more time because their attention is somewhere else (I got some crispy noodles). This also means that ingredients from other people's foods may and usually will mix in with yours. I've seen a couple people that night complaining about unwanted meats and veggies that got tossed into their food. Try: another place for Mongolian BBQ. My favorites are back in So Cal, so I can't really recommend anything. Don't Try: coming here for a date. When one of you decides to go back for seconds alone, you can expect a long time of separation from each other. Long lines, so beware.

My family loves to eat here. My mom loves to watch the grill chefs especially to one who does a little spin. It's amazing that they don't get burned especially when the flames go shooting up off the grill. Everyone gets what they want. Love it, yum!

If you don't like Changs your doing it wrong. Go for lunch and don't eat breakfast. Wear lose fitting pants. Use two bowls, one for meat and noodles and the other for the vegetables. Repeat until busting at the seems. Go home and take a nap afterwards.

On top of the tipping the sauté masters, and the partial waitstaff, it is a better value to go to the grocery just down the street and pick up some precut veggies and shaved meat of your choice and sauté it yourself at home. meh.....

Overall experience was good & I will come back again.

how can you not love this place? great food and you get to watch them cook it for you. i go there about 2 times a month and everytime i cheat to much. the guy that cooks your food is very friendly and they always bring you drinks and wraps. so if you wanna eat alot of good food for a cheap price and watch a guy cook your food on a big grill than this is the place for you.

This place gets a five star review because I make a bitch'n sauce mixture leaving me with the most amazing plate of food ever. Wait... ever? OK maybe not ever but dannng this is good.

On top of the tipping the sauté masters, and the partial waitstaff, it is a better value to go to the grocery just down the street and pick up some precut veggies and shaved meat of your choice and sauté it yourself at home. meh.....

This place has something for everyone! you pick what you would like in your bowl, such as what meat, veggies and even your sauce and they cook it up for you. I have been to some of their other locations and this is the best by far. My kids even enjoy coming here because they can make their own and I love bringing them because I know they will eat.

The people cooking the food looked like they were having fun (I mean, wouldn't you?) Service was good, basically I have no complaints, and you're crazy if you think I'm not going to be paying a return visit pretty soon. also, protip - if you go near closing, you get to see what the staff make for themselves, which is interesting. also, don't be a jerk - tip the cooks.

i have been going to the changs in beaverton since i was young, over the years it has gone downhill, yes the food is still delicious but the atmosphere and decor needs some SERIOUS updating...

If you don't like Changs your doing it wrong. Go for lunch and don't eat breakfast. Wear lose fitting pants. Use two bowls, one for meat and noodles and the other for the vegetables. Repeat until busting at the seems. Go home and take a nap afterwards.

My usual Chang's that I go to is in NE Portland, but I was out at this one recently. It's newer and cleaner, and has a much better atmosphere. Read my other review for what I think of Chang's. It's the same here, but cleaner.

This one is better than the other ones in Portland. Great food and the cooking in front of you just makes it better. Great place for vegetarians as there are a lot of options.
