If you AREN'T in a hurry this is a great place to go. On 2 separate occasions, 2 years apart, this place has been very, very slow on service. Super slow. You order your food and it takes at least 20 min. to receive your first round, our order was salads, come on, how long does it take to make a salad? I feel sorry for the customers next to us a little, they had arrived before us and they didn't get their food till 10 minutes after us. Waitress was polite, however only came to the table when she had too, there was no clearing of the plates or anything until the very end. I felt like she must have got stuck in bar area chatting with someone and forgot about us. Food was great. The chocolate cake is out of this world. Really good. Prices seem right in there. Service is a big thing to me - so they get 2 stars.

I Loveeed the Village bar & Grill. I was just here last week and they had the best french fries I have ever had. I am vegetarian and I love that they had a veggie patty substitute for their burgers. The service was extremely quick and the waitress was very nice. I also stayed in Sunriver through "Sunset Lodging" rentals and got 10% off for staying with them. Woot woot! Their prices were very reasonable. When I visit Sunriver again, I will definitely go back.

We enjoyed our lunch. It was lovely to sit on the patio. The menu didn't have a kids section, but the waitress said they did indeed have one and it "had the basics" on it. My 11 year old ordered the kids hamburger and enjoyed it. The fries were fresh and hot. I took the suggestion of the waitress and ordered the thai lettuce wraps. They were spicy! Luckily, I am a fan of spicy. I very much enjoyed them. The portion was so large that I brought a bit back to the condo. The price is a tad on the higger side, but justifiable from what I ate. It is Sunriver, so I think they can charge a few dollars more than bend. 3.00 for a strawberry lemonade that does not come with refills, but it was yummy. 14.00 for my lettuce wrap. In Seattle it would have been 11 dollars, but in Seattle you would have 100 restaurants on 1 block to choose from. Plus, like I said it was great.

Worst service ever in the Bar tonight! We have always had great service. Hope it returns to the great place it use to be! Cold food and only bad excuses.

Im updating my review based on a MUCH better meal and top notch service from a different server on Friday 8/1/14. My family insisted that we return to The Village Bar and Grill for another try at dinner. This time it was the restaurant that I remembered on Mothers Day. Everything met my expectations! Although there were some hiccups, it was Friday night so im going from 2 to 4 stars due to our great server and the BEST quesadilla I have ever had!

This place was pretty decent. The service was not real great but the food made up for it. Our server was pretty hard to track down and we had to ask for refills, and he never cleared our plates off the table. But the food? Delicious. The burgers and salads are delicious and you get a ton of fries as well. They are not skimpy with portions. Prices were a bit steep imo for the food but it is a resort area so we figured as much. We would probably go back. Make reservation ahead of time and ask for the outdoor patio - fun to sit out and watch all the people and listen to live music.

We went to the restaurant on a Sunday at 5pm. It was pretty empty inside (everyone was on the patio) which was nice as we had a baby with us. The chicken lettuce wrap appetizer had great peanut and dragon sauce but the chicken itself was overcooked, the lettuce had dead fruit flies on it and the carrots were pre-sliced and kinda dry. I had the Basket O'Shrimp. They were piping hot and larger than expected. Tasted great, and the cocktail sauce had a nice kick to it. My wife had the Chicken Pesto Sandwich. Very tasty, but could've used more pesto. As other reviewers have said, great french fries, and ranch sauce. Prompt friendly service. We will definitely return.

This is the second time this restaurant has let us down so time to say something about it. We love Sunriver and enjoy exploring all of the wonderful shops and fun things to do. This restaurant has great potential but really blows it on the customer service experience. The good is seasoned French fries and drinks. The food is so so good but nothing to write home about. The staff are marginal at best. Took them over 30 minutes to take our order on a slow Monday night and another 30 minutes to get us our food. They messed up our order substituted tofu for chicken and didn't put the blue cheese on the side. We had to ask for our food and kept getting excuse after excuse. Finally it arrives and the great fries are cold Wow. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to not leave a tip but my wife felt sorry for the waitress. My advice is pass on this place and eat in Bend there is no reason to pay top dollar for average food and bad service. Shame on you since people are kinda stuck with a handful of restaurants here and few tourists would think to drive into Bend. Hopefully another better national chain restaurant will move in soon that values customer service.

You can bring your dog if you sit on the patio. Great spinach salad and pesto chicken sandwich. Excellent service.

5pm. Bar almost empty, 1 table of 8, I think all locals, getting all attention, and 4 servers laughing among themselves. Wife and I sat ourselves, watched and waited for 15 min. Finally I asked if this was serve yourself, they did not think this was funny, he said we have to serve the others first. We did order drinks, but no dinner. Would not recommend this to anyone who is not known to whomever is working at the time.

Nice happy hour that lasts all night on Thursdays. Both food and drinks are available off the menu.

Food was pretty good. Our server was NOT friendly at all. Maybe he was having a bad day. A large group of people who were quite a bit younger than us sat near us...very loud. We could've asked to be moved, we chose instead to say we're old and we used to be like them. Pretty nice time.

Went there for lunch. Overpriced standard food. Nice outdoor seating. Indoor atmosphere is nice but there are TVs on which I don't care for. Service was good.

  • Vivian H.

Poor/non-existent service. Fish & chips good, but lettuce wraps had tough chicken - not sure how that is even possible :/ We are local, and I don't think we will be back, this was our second bad experience out of 3 visits.

The Sunriver village bar and grill has really gone downhill. With the success of the Brewhouse, the bar and grill cannot seem to step up their game to the high level of the Brewhouse. The food is mediocre, with not much seeming to be house made. I would recommend making more things in house such as the chili and other soups. I could hardly eat the pulled pork sandwich as the bbq sauce was much to sweet and nothing tasted fresh at all. Quite a disappointment.

  • Christopher B.

Average food. My village chicken had good flavor but there was too much alcohol in the toppings with which it was served. I've also had the Ruben. No complaints with that. Fries are good. Liked the NFL games, specifically the Seahawks game playing on the tvs.

  • Todd S.

Boneless wings - not processed meat, cut up chicken breast, cooked almost like a French fry. Awesome! Also best fries in the area, served with Chipotle Ranch dip.

Service is absolutely nonexistent here! We ate here last summer on our visit and the service was so slow it took us 2 hours to eat lunch. This visit, we had put our name in with another local restaurant, told it was a 45-60 minute wait, so we walked down to this restaurant. We were seated fairly quickly but waited 10 minutes for menus, without anyone coming by to acknowledge us, someone from our table went up to ask for menus. An additional 10 minutes later we hadn't even been recognized or had water. We walked out and were quickly seated at the other restaurant and had fabulous service. Village food isn't fabulous either - last year when we ate here it was mediocre and the Mac & cheese was out of a box, a far comparison from the homemade stuff nearby. Don't recommend!!!

This place is very predictable, which I like. Great food and great service. We had Quasadillas and Steamer Clams and all raved about it. Place was clean as were the rest rooms. Just like last time and probably the next time we go there (I hope they keep up the good work!).

  • Brad B.

How has this place survived so long? The menu is weird. The food is just bad. We had boneless wings. It was like chewing cold erasers with Franks Red Hot on them. Beer selection is good enough. Wine selection was so so. Nice ambiance. Found it odd that they call last call at 9:00 when there was a bunch of patrons in the bar at the beginning of the busy Thanksgiving weekend. Go to Sunriver Brewing instead.

  • Megan C.

Went into the bar for a few beers on Saturday afternoon. Good selection of beer. But terrible service! We sat at the bar and the staff was saying how much they didn't want to be there. Very unprofessional! They are lucky this town has great beer!

Nice place! Village Bar and Grill has a nice location, staff, and menu. The live music in the evening is pretty cool. I like a lively bar and this one doesn't disappoint. The drink menu is pretty creative and the prices are pretty reasonable. That's a pretty big deal considering many restaurant owners would prefer to raise prices whenever they can. The food menu is diverse enough to please just about anyone. It has evolved significantly since I had been there last. The building itself is kind of rustic, it's cool. The biggest plus for me is that I feel comfortable here. I'll be back.

Food is what you expect, ok to good. Service was ok as well. Wait time for food was a little slow, so keep up the conversation.

Good food, friendly staff, but the greatest thing about this spot is the evening concert series in the summer! I can't think of a better way to top off a summer day in sunriver than to sit on the deck enjoying good food, good drink, and good music!

  • Nick M.

Nice atmosphere, good service and average food, nothing to write home about. If we visit the area again I'd rather go to the Brewhouse as the food is better. The salad was boring and the quality just wasn't there for the rest of this completely forgettable meal. Final score: service, 4 and food, 2.

This is a great place to eat if you are in Sunriver. Good food, good atmosphere and has some really nice character.

Great food and service but God forbid you try to eat healthy on vacation. I found it difficult everywhere but equally hard here. Chris had a seared tuna sandwich that he really liked and his fries looked awesome (note that I said LOOKED). I had the Cobb salad and ordered it without dressing and something else fattening but forgot to leave off the cheese so I just ate around it. Salad was HUGE but delicious. Iced tea refills plentiful. A nice find in the "village" that looks like it might be struggling a little. I hope it comes back full force because it's a great asset to Sunriver.

We ate on the 4th of July and the service was wonderful. We had a very nice and attentive waitress who was prompt with our drinks and main courses. The smoked Gouda quesadilla was absolutely fantastic as a main course (it's listed as an appetizer), however one side was slightly overcooked. The Philly cheese steak was tender and had vibrant roasted peppers and onions. If it were to be ordered again, I would definitely recommend requesting to substitute Gouda cheese for the mozzarella. I think with that change it would be unstoppable. The french fries were absolutely perfect! We think they were double fried. Oh goodness, they were amazing. Our dessert was slow to come out but definitely worth the wait. We had the big cheese brûlée cake. A fantastic twist on cheese cake and Crème brûlée. The top could have been a little more caramelized but overall a great dish.

Good place for family dining. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that kids' meals are free on Tuesdays! The Buffalo Chicken Salad and the French Dip Sandwich were both good. The kids enjoyed their chicken strips and hamburgers as well. Good service, wide variety of options on the menu.

Ok, have to add another half star. Back at Sunriver for our annual summer week with the fam and stopped in for dinner on our first night in. My husband loved his steak salad. The wine list seems a little bit more extensive. Very nice evening and the prices weren't bad. Good vacation!

  • Amy B.

I enjoyed an absolutely fantastic lunch at the Village Bar & Grill. We sat outside in the warm June sunshine and had an absolutely wonderful meal. Our waiter was attentive and speedy. The restaurant is priced right - with a wide variety of meal options. Ranging from interesting salads (Praline Chicken Apple and Steak Fajitas Salad were both great), Sandwiches/Wraps (Ahi Tuna Sandwich, Crispy Chicken, etc...) and a wide variety of burgers. We found everything to be well prepared and scrumptious.

Village Bar & Grill isn't exactly fine dining, but it is good for what it is (which is, one of very few dinner choices in the village). My husband and I had dinner there in August on a night when they had music in the courtyard. Outdoor tables were packed, but we were promptly seated inside. Prices are moderate, service was fine.

  • Alex B.

Went back for dinner. Had the Quesadilla appetizer which was just as the other reviews said...AMAAAAAAAZING! Smokey flavor and savory. Pot roast was tender and tasty, potatoes were not bad. Dinner salad was also great, but get the dressing on the side cuz there's a lot going on with the salad itself. Overall, this continues to not disappoint! PS They pour good mixed drinks in the bar!

Saturday night. 45 min wait at Sunriver Brewing. We are on the list but not wanting to wait THAT long when I saw the review on Yelp for The Village Bar & Grill. "Come here for half the wait at Sunriver Brewing." Sunriver Brewing was not a make or break with us. We just wanted to grab a bite to eat and head home. Perusing the menu, I quickly deduced that The Village Bar & Grill actually had more suitable options for everyone in our party. I went over to check and was pleased to walk right in and have immediate seating. Before I could finish texting the rest of our group to head this direction, I'd ordered a 10 Barrel Sinister and had an appetizer of onion rings in the works. When everyone else arrived, I was already sipping the high life. It's not like The Village Bar & Grill was dead and we were the only ones in there. Actually, it was pretty full. A couple open tables. I glanced at what people were eating---lots of salads. Burgers. Lettuce wraps. Most were being fully consumed, meaning they probably tasted good. I went for the western burger with fries. Others in our party had the chicken sandwich with honey mustard. Our server was attentive and engaging. Even though he was handling several tables, he never faltered on any request we pitched at him. Unlike the experience of other reviewers who had poor / slow service, not so with us. Onion rings arrived and they were better than average. Nothing special though. Side of ranch. Beer battered rings. Hot. Meals arrived and they LOOKED better than they were. You know how you just feel like it should be better than it really is? Yeah...that's how it was for both my burger & the chicken sandwich eaters. In fact, pulling apart the chicken sandwich, both said in unison, "Where's the honey mustard?" Our server quickly brought two sides but it wasn't enough to resurrect the subpar sandwich. On the flip side, the fries were really good. Definitely above average. Crispy with a yummy seasoning. When all is said and done the bill was about what we expected for a touristy resort location. I don't think it was worth it, but then again we don't really frequent Sunriver much. I'd come here again in a pinch. I'd probably come here rather than wait in line at Sunriver Brewing. But I also wouldn't make special trip to come here.

Not very good. On par with Denny's as far as quality, taste, and portion size but more expensive. Cheap, good coffee tho!

I ordered a salad with grilled chicken and the dressing on the side..... After a long wait I received a salad with the dressing on it. I asked the waitress for a new salad and I then received a salad with the dressing on the side but no chicken. Overall the food was okay... Nothing great. The service was also very slow....

First time at the Resturant and had the Fish and chips. Food was pretty good but the service needs improvement. Took about 10 minutes to even have someone take our drink order. They mad a mistake on the my son's order and took the time to make a new one and add it to the check but didn't remove the wrong item.

Nice location in the village. Extremely crowded because of the Pacific Crest event. Probably would rate higher during a normal day.

We were excited to have a nice dinner here and were pretty disappointed. We ordered water, 1 drink, an appetizer and 2 entrees. My husbands drink came out promptly but we had to remind the waitress 3 times for our water. It took 57 minutes (yes, I timed it after it took 20 minutes to get a glass of water) to get our appetizer and it was cold by the time it got to us. Our meals came out 5 minutes later. The only reason this place is getting 2 stars was because my steak was cooked perfectly. My husbands fish was REALLY overcooked and our asparagus was super mushy. The potatoes tasted like they were mixed with real potatoes and instant. We never had our waters refilled and we were never offered another drink. At the end of our meal we asked for the check and a to-go box. We then waited another 20 minutes to cash out and get our box. Honestly this place has potential to be awesome but the whole ordeal made us feel like we were a burden to the staff. Had they been really busy or something I could understand but their just wasn't a good excuse. We were more than polite and courteous the entire time but after sitting at our table for almost TWO HOURS I would NEVER come back. I would absolutely eat at the brewery restaurant just a short walk down the walkway (next to the IGA store) from this place. You will probably have to wait a while for a table but the service and food is 100% more enjoyable. If waiting isn't your thing I would suggest a frozen entree from the local supermarket. At least that way you know what you're getting and the service from your microwave is probably more pleasant.

I love love love Village Bar & Grill great food, fast service, of course your going to have a wait it's a resort town! Today we sat in the bar and it was pretty empty around 12 ish. We got our food super fast also there is gambling in the bar! Both Restaurant & Bar are amazing! Been coming to Sunriver for 10+ years always have the same great food!

  • Jenni K.

If Sunriver Brewing is super full, try this place! It's just as good and half the wait! Seriously, we came here and had a 45 minute wait. A few of us posted up in the bar, choosing from their great beer selection and eating wings. It seriously was perfect. Once our table was ready, the waitress was kind and attentive and the food was perfect. It's not too fancy, there's something for everyone, and it's moderately priced. Go!

Expensive. Unprofessional service. I got my head hit with a heavy service plate by the waitress. Mediocre poorly tasting not so fresh food. Basically no selection of drinks. Don't go there

  • Chris K.

Good food and polite staff but wow is the service slow! I don't know if it's just a mostly new crew but it took about 20 minutes after being seated before I had a beer I'm front of me. Then another 20 before we had food. That said, the food was good. I ordered the Smokehouse burger and other than being too light on the BBQ sauce it was delicious.

  • Becki H.

Great for lunch or dinner and located right in the village. The food seemed a bit pricey but was so delicious we didn't mind. One small problem~ too many flies landing on our table. Solve that hiccup and it's FIVE STARS!

    (4)
  • Andrea C.

for the price, this food was not great!! expensive & tasted like stovetop or rice or Roni. my son said my salmon was better & the ahi was over cooked & tough. the lettuce wraps were huge chunks of Chkn & nothing else, the chunks were so big they wouldn't really fit in the tiny butter leafs. the fries were excellent! & that is about the only good thing I can say about this place.

  • Jonah O.

Very nice service, but the food was disappointing. Sandwich bread was dry and stale, overall food quality needs improvement, but I'd eat here again if Sunriver Brewhouse is too crowded. It's fine if you're starving after a long day of being in the Central Oregon sun.

  • Earl Z.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing, to me it has a mountian lodge feel, warm and cozy. The young man at front desk was a bit unpolished, but friendly. The service form Laken, our waitress was timely and very friendly, there were no complaints from the group I was with. For dinner we ordered the Pulled Pork sandwhich and Village Cobb Salad, both of which were satisfactory in both quality and portion. Our sodas were kept full as was the water. The next time we are in the area, this will be our first choice for lunch or dinner.

Food was good, your typical pub selection. Waitress mixed up our order and was painfully slow and only checked on us st the end of the meal to bring our check. Has a great outdoor patio though!

Just back from a week vacation at Sunriver and ate here three or four times (that says SOMETHING right there, right?). Servers really made you feel welcome - sometimes resort-ey type places treat tourists like the "b-crowd", but felt very welcome and comfortable here. The sesame crusted ahi was really good, as was the insane seven-layer chocolate cake (which took 5 of us to eat and we still couldn't finish!). Great photography throughout the space, courtesy of one of the bartender, adds a great touch of local style and beauty. Maybe not the place for a quiet romantic dinner for two, but a fun, chill place to hang with friends, family.

We stopped in here to get something that was well after lunch. Although very slow, the food was very good. I had the wings, and this was well worth the money spent. The wings were actually real sized, meaning that there was some meat on the bones. I had the medium flavored ones and they actually had great flavor. My friend ordered the shrimp which was really good as well. The portion sizes were very good for the price that was paid. You looking for a good meal, stop in here.

Hideous. Week old fish disguised in 3 tiny chunks of burnt batter & overpriced. One taste & I sent it back, electing to eat nothing instead. Yech!

The menu is broad but the service is hit and miss - Our server Marissa was fabulous but the host, Dawn, who I guess has been there a while is terrible - she greats you with a frown is not welcoming and really sets a bad vibe for the place. When we told the manager Aaron - he didn't really seem to care. Lots of kids so if you have you'll be at home if you want quiet then this is probably not the place for you. Bar service was only OK.

The overall atmosphere and quality of the restaurant and bar were amazing. Looking for a great place that embodies the local environment, this is the type of grill we were seeking. First, the service was timely and very friendly, there were no complaints. For lunch we ordered the Bleu Cheese Chipotle Burger and Village Cobb Salad, both of which were satisfactory in both quality and portion. The drinks were also above par, providing the perfect amount of alcohol. In sum, the next time we are in the area, this will be our first choice for lunch or dinner with a relaxing local environment! Highly recommended!

We sat in the bar area which was fine, but the football games were a bit distracting..haha! A few of us had the sesame crusted ahi tuna for dinner, which was ordered medium rare, but was served to us well done. The seasoning was fine, but if you decide to order the ahi make sure to order it rare. It was still fine and i'm not one to send food back unless it's a serious problem. To be fair, our server did comp one of our meals for the mistake. In the end, there are not many great options in Sunriver and the food is average.

Great food! New building with an outside desk is a plus. Prices are a little high for burgers.

This is a review of the bar. The atmosphere was typical busy, ski-crowd, bar atmosphere, which is what we were looking for tonight. (No complaints with that.) We got a margarita, upgraded to 100% blue agave tequila, and a bloody mary. We had the steamer clams for a snack. The drinks had the requisite alcohol but were otherwise uninteresting. When I asked if the margaritas were made in house I was told that the sweet and sour mix came from "the hose". Ugh! My husband reported that the bloody mary was ok. His favorite is found at the main lodge bar at mt bachelor. He said there was no comparison. Flavor in this one was lacking and the peperoncini was like wood. Yuck. Our steamers were way too salty, and that is coming from someone who loves salt! We won't be back. We also took a peek at the restaurant menu while we were in the bar. Lots of fatty meat, cheese and fried food. Great, if you want to clog your arteries. On the plus side, the wait staff was helpful and around when we needed them.

Just popped into the Village Bar and Grill during a conference at the Sun River Resort and was pleasantly surprised. The server was friendly and attentive, they make a great Arnold Palmer, and the Fried Shrimp entree I had was delicious. Would definitely go again.

I have enjoyed many great meals at this friendly, fun restaurant! The food is fresh daily and surprisingly creative. This is not a burger and fries bar and grill. They do have wonderful burgers, but their menu is quite diverse and will satisfy everyone in your crew. I hear there is a new menu coming out and look forward to trying the new items!
