Took my wife out for dinner last night at Silver Grille. We wanted a really good meal, since there isn't anything in the Stayton area we went to Silverton. This is the 4th or 5th time at Silver Grille and we have never been disappointed, last night was nothing different. The food was AMAZING!! Easily the best food I've had, including Salem and Portland areas. We both highly recommend a visit (or several) here for dinner. It is great to have a restaurant that actually strives to use local seasonal ingredients and not just claim to. We will most definatly be making return trips! If you love wine, they have a great selection of high quality local wines. O, and for those that don't drink wine, they also had a full service bar, last night they made margaritas out of fresh strawberry passion fruit lemonade!

We were so happily surprised by this place! We started with the peach salad. It was simple and the peaches were perfectly ripe. We also had the beet salad. It had a few too many components that were great on their own but together muddled the tastes. The "dirt" was so exciting and well balanced. We kept returning to it and wish that it had been dispersed over the salad more thoroughly. The cold corn soup was a revelation that signaled we were at a truly wonderful place. The soup was delicate and decadent at the same time. The olive oil on top was a good touch and the smoothness was a nice departure from the typical chunky corn soup. It was almost like a desert so we were suggest sharing this. We then had the angry chicken and ravioli, and the ravioli. The tomato sauce was exceedingly fresh and the ravioli was perfectly cooked. The ravioli was fabulous and the chicken (appropriately sparse) and sauce we well nuanced. This was some of the best pasta we've ever had. We then finished with the lavender tart and the orange desert. The lavender crust was a bit tough overall quite good. The orange desert was also good. Overall, this was a very positive dining and eating experience. We also loved that there was a table available that was slightly set apart from the rest of the restaurant.

Our special place..... Outstanding chef, menu, service, atmosphere. It is pricey for the area. Silverton is also a great place to visit....stroll through. Park your car at the nickel parking meters. There's an old-fashioned movie theater and the Oregon Garden is near. This is the restaurant to visit if you are in the area -- and if you are not. It's genuine farm to table, made with care. No tv or loud noise. Very romantic. Please don't bring children unless they are extremely well-behaved and quiet. This is a class place.

We were driving through town at dinner time and I decided to find some good local food. This is a small place but has a quaint atmosphere and outstanding service. The bread they serve is also outstanding with a great taste. We both loved the Naughty librarian salad and my dinner was outstanding. Unfortunately my wife had the Halibut and it was undercooked. As typical - she didn't complain and so I was unaware of it until I noticed she did not eat most of it. When our waitress also spotted the partially eaten dinner - she asked about it (WOW - how often do you find a waitress that actually notices those things). That was the good part - the waitress then proceeded to say she had noticed that when she brought it out - hum wouldn't that have been the time to ask? She did provide us with free dessert and eliminated the dinner cost - so I would give them 5 stars but my wife went with 3 average 4. I would definitely come back and try again.

The recipes are short of pretentious but over thought. Good quality ingredients are interpreted into less appealing dishes. This will be a one time visit. For this price range we do not recommend this place.

Halfway into my second full bite of opah tartare, just as I reach for another sip of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, it suddenly hits me: I'm definitely not in Pendleton anymore. Like the intrepid Oregon trailers of days gone by, I've left the Umatilla and Columbia River gorge behind and ended up at my final destination in the green-loving heart of the Willamette valley, at a silver grille in a silver town, and I'm definitely feeling (not to mention tasting, smelling, and savoring) the foodie boomtown love. And that's even before the sunchoke veloute soup and main of stuffed lamb saddle dijonnaise accompanied by a generous pour of Ribbon Ridge Pinot. I doubt that those sturdy pioneers would have been able to enjoy that. Things have indeed changed in these parts, and at least some of them - like this slightly hidden and marvelously multifaceted gem of a place - are decidedly for the better. In one day's journey, to have gone from freezing fog and falling waters (Multnomah, Wahkeena, Latourell), to have crossed winding rivers (Sandy, Clackamas, Molalla), to end up at a roadside rest stop like this: you get why Oregon is a great state and why so many people risked their very lives to get here. I'd like to think that places like the Silver Grille are continuing in that pioneering, push-the-boundaries spirit, by blending local sourcing with globally-inspired culinary creationism. It's exquisitely-crafted comfort food done with a French-trained twist. Chances are that if Jeff, Naomi, and crew can think it up, it's probably eventually going to happen. Small things matter in the world of high-end foodism (like veganism, but more fun). It can't be pretentious, but it must be good. Good in the spur-of-the-moment sort of way: an inspired recipe idea gleaned from a new cookbook or web blog; a Pacific fish like opah served in ravioli half-moons made of sliced salted kohlrabi and beautifully set off by an Asian citrus sauce of ginger juice and makrut lime; a new way of serving lamb with seasonally suited winter root vegetables (parsnip, sunchoke, potato, romanesco broccoli), an inspired fruit desert paired with a late-harvest Pinot Gris. Over time, these things add up. The end result is not just eating out, but eating beyond. And the setting ideally should be intimate, uncluttered, and small, where the chef and servers can walk from kitchen to table in about 20 steps (or less), serving, talking, sharing tips, and recommending wine by the glass pairings to craft mini-tasting menus to suit all different types of tastes and budgets. In my case: a 4 course tasting menu (opah starter, sunchoke soup, lamb main, strawberry pastry desert) with three wines (one New Zealand, two Willamette), for under $70. Road trip food done right, really REALLY right. If that prospect sounds appealing to you, get yourself to Silverton on a rainy mid-December Sunday and see what Jeff's got cooking, curing, fermenting, pouring, and wood smoking. You'll be singing the renewed praises of the beloved Beaver State in no time flat. And waiting for another visit to see what comes next. Review Update #100

Great dinner As good a place to have a fine meal as I have experienced in quite awhile.... Real good atmosphere, great service, fantastic food!! Really liked the personal touch concerning the source of the product served.. Had a great time... From the San Francisco Bay Area....Wish the Silver Grille was closer!

This restaurant is by far the best place I have ever visited. Each time we eat here we leave baffled by how wonderful the food, drinks and especially the service is. I would almost say if you visit this town without eating here you are surely missing out on one of the best food experiences of your life. Everything on the menu is delicious and we never hesitate to order the specials. The owner and his wife are two of the kindest people and welcome you even if you're wearing hiking clothes after a visit to the falls. This place goes above and beyond five stars.

I have enjoyed this restaurant twice in the last several weeks, both times entertaining family from out of state. It is extremely rare to have the owner and chef not only provide you with an excellent meal, but also exceptional service. Seriously!! He was our informative and personable server as well. They also offer fresh baked gluten free bread! Small quaint establishment with only a few tables, recommend calling in advance for reservations. Closed on Monday and Tuesday. Well worth a drive from out of town if you are not fortunate enough to live in the area!

Someone call the police because this establishment was robbed of half a star! The wine list is FANTASTIC as well as the desert wine options. The wait staff was awesome and very helpful pairing our wines to the dinner selections...in fact, my wife and I were offered sample tastes other than our selected wines to be sure we had the right option. Our entrees as well as appetizers were amazing (lamb and sashimi). The chef even stopped by our table to ensure our meals were served to our liking. Thank you for providing the perfect romantic meal on a busy weekend night.

Took hubs here for his birthday dinner and it was AMAZING. He had the filet and I had the lamb bolognese. Yum. Both dishes were excellent. The service was also nice. Dessert was delicious. Some of the best creme brulee ever. I love that we got to bring our own bottle of wine for a corkage fee. Everything about this visit was exactly what I wanted it to be: personal, fun, yummy, quaint, intimate - hubs loved it. We really enjoyed dinner here. Have already been back.

After having a horrible dining experience at Howard Hinsdale we wandered out looking for a place to have desert. We stumbled upon Silver Grille and are certainly glad we did. This restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside the atmosphere is intimate and romantic. The staff are friendly and the service is prompt. I ordered a cup of vegan soup since the only thing vegan at Howard Hinsdale was an underdressed salad. The bread came with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, but not the cheap variety; it was really, really nice quality. The dessert was absolutely mind-blowing. Perfectly executed, beautifully plated. The wine was great and even the coffee was exceptional. All of this while listening to an amazing soundtrack of romantic songs, some French, some Italian, some Sinatra. Unlike Howard Hisdale, this restaurant cares about your dining experience and it really shows in the little details and how the staff takes care of you. It made for a wonderful and memorable night.

This must be to date the best dinner experience we have had for 200USD for 4 persons. We all had 3 courses and some vine and beer. The meat, pasta and fish main courses was all about as good as it gets, and deserts were up there also among the best we EVER had also. Its not nessesary to elaborate this experience any more, this is probably as good as it gets unless you spend 3-4 times the money, and even then it probably would not be any better. This place do not have the over the top high end interior like the hi-end restaurants in West LA, but for 1/3 of the price i don't mind, we are here for the food. The week after we passed this area again (takes us 1 hr drive extra just to do this) and wanted to eat here again, but to our surprise they are only open between 5-9pm Wed-Sun, strange!

consistently great food. little pricey but worth it. a "portland" quality restaurant right here in Silverton. good for special occasions or date nights. sort of a quiet restaurant but they are still very welcoming of children although it's generally more of an adult spot.

This has been a classic, great restaurant for years and certainly one of my favorites. The owners are warm and wonderful, as are their employees. I have known all of their employees and consider them to be exceptional as well. There is a saying that cream rises to the top and what doesn't make it to the top is flushed away. The owners, staff and food will always keep Silver Grille at the top. This is the one MUST eat at in Silverton!

This was hands down one of the best dinners of my life. After a long day driving back from Crater Lake, with stops on the way at Silver Falls State Park we stopped here for dinner while driving through Silverton. The restaurant is not very big and while we were not dressed up to the T we were made to feel very welcome. The service was exceptional. This is something that is required for a great meal - exceptional service. The food was very very good. My wife got the Chinook Salmon which was cooked perfectly and had a lemon sauce which went very well with the salmon. We also got the gorgonzola bruschetta which was not quite up there with the Salmon. The desserts looked very tempting but we were both too full and I was especially vary of driving the remaining distance to Seattle on a really full stomach. Overall, top notch, one of the best dinners I've had, and this place will beat most fancy places in Seattle and Portland hands down.

Great dinner in a lovely environment. I had a grilled chicken breast served with cauliflower risotto, a great change from the typical starch. Great wine list, beautiful setting and an overall great experience!

What a wonderful place. My husband and I showed up with no reservations on a Friday night, even so the staff couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming, insisting it was no problem. My husband ordered the halibut which was cooked perfectly. My Tri Tip with smoky béarnaise sauce was excellent. If you are a fan of Lemon Drops, they make a great one. The wine list looked like they have a very good selection. They also had some interesting choices for dessert, including potato skin ice cream. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until our next visit to try that.

Great food and better service. We stopped there after a long day of house hunting. We were under dressed. This is a large and quiet place with great food and awesome specials. When I find the house in Silverton I will be a regular.

This is hands down my favorite restaurant. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often! The food is always prepared to perfection. The service is excellent, and several times the owner/chef himself has waited on us. The best part is the incredibly reasonable pricing. I have paid twice as much for food that was half as good in Portland. On our last trip, my husband and I shared three starters, two entrees, three cocktails, and dessert for $99 before tip. This is a must visit restaurant!

I just have to say I love this place! After 5-6 dinners here, the food is excellent, service consistently solid and what an amazing atmosphere. This is the place I take my friends who rarely visit me. If you are my friend, come visit and I will take you to a great place!

I came back and ate some more things. It was wonderful. I just want to try to describe the transport of ecstasy I experienced eating that creme brulee again. I have heard it said that it is the best creme brulee in the world. I don't know, I have not had it all over the world and I have certainly not had it in France. But - it is the best dang desert I have ever eaten. If you chose to eat the creme brulee: be warned. You might find the urge overwhelming, to not just eat it but to rub it all over your face, to tear off your shirt as you run into the street laughing, and fall to your knees in the middle of the road with your head thrown back, laughing your insane joy into the heavens that are suddenly and inexplicably filled with ethereal music that you can see and taste as well as hear. You will wake up days later in the hospital, with your wife or mother or both holding your hand. They will tell you that you had to be subdued by the police, given a huge blast of Thorazine and put in a medically induced coma that you are just now waking from. You won't remember everything that you experienced, but you will never be the same again. Sometimes, at night when no one is watching, you will weep silently. But seriously try it; it's worth the risk.

Puree of Butternut Squash and Gorgonzola Bruschetta were wonderful; the Silver Grille Caesar Salad was mediocre. One entrée stood out; the other a bit bland (but solid); dessert was fabulous. Good value, and most of the dishes were delicious. Recommended and would go back.

A family birthday celebration out for 3 of us. This is hands down the best restaurant around (and that includes the Salem area). We started with a cocktail - a cosmo specialty, then shared the bruschetta which was marvelous and steaks which couldn't have been better prepared. The wine list is very good and we ended up with a reasonably priced bottle that was absolutely amazing. Service was professional and paced to our eating/talking and always appreciated. I love this place!

We had a fantastic dinner here on Saturday night. Very high quality food all the way around. I had a special which was a filet wrapped in very thin lardons, seared, and I think slow-cooked (I don't recall the exact process - sounded a bit like sous vide), but the end result was easily one of the most tender, flavorful, and simply perfect pieces of cow I've ever had. Then there was the chocolate & coconut mousse dome, which was equally amazing. The salad, halibut main course, and strawberry cheesecake were all outstanding as well.

Aside from my family, two of my life-loves are writing and food. To be awarded the "Feed-a-Foodie" dinner from the Silver Grille (Chef Jeff Nizlek) and Extreme Chocolates (Chef Carrie Wong) for writing an essay about food equates to pure exultation. When I found out I won I had to lay down on the floor and kick my feet in the air... then just count the days leading up to dinner. Chef Nizlek and Chef Wong welcome us into the Silver Grille where we are about to embark on truly the most amazing food journey I've ever experienced. The promise of the "Feed-a-Foodie" dinner was for a three course meal and dessert for two. Chef Nizlek and Chef Wong transform this into an 8 course extravaganza of flavors, discovery, and education. There is nothing more divine than to be fed by people who are passionate about food. Chef Nizlek and Chef Wong spoiled us to the point of feeling like movie stars or royalty. We surrendered, ready to experience the journey through the eyes of passionate and experienced chefs. There is the foodie and then the upper echelon of knowledge and passion. Jeff and Carrie shared their passion in the most giving and unassuming manner. I felt nearly riddled with guilt as we explored the most thoughtfully laid out journey of food beginning with light and air that culminated into the richest crescendo of culinary delight. We ate for two hours. Two hours of perfectly timed and well thought out creations made from the freshest ingredients possible. Deep appreciation and gratitude to Chef Nizlek, Chef Wong, The Silver Grille, and Extreme Chocolates for sharing your gift and providing an experience neither of us will ever forget. Nor will we have to because the Silver Grille provides this level of loveliness right here in Silverton at shockingly affordable prices. We'll be seeing you again soon... for the love of food. I can't believe the 5star reviews! There were 5 of us. 4 of had the gnocchi with the"marinated chicken breast". I couldn't believe that someone would put previously frozen and too long defrosted chicken cubes in a $16 entree. I mean, I REALLY couldn't believe it. I saw the "Chef" moving all over the restaurant trying to be helpful. He even opened the door to the men's room for me. He reminded me Emelio (sneaky, sneaky) in Mr. Deeds. He had on a sparkling white toque and wanted to appear eager to please. By the way, the gnocchi with the prefab chicken dinner was really slow. Maybe if the chef had stayed in the kitchen and actually cooked a chicken breast, it would have been quicker. This plate was totally unacceptable. I will say that my principle dining partner did have a salmon that she liked very much. Maybe instead of knock, knock jokes, we can have gnoc, gnoc jokes like this entree!

This very nice restaurant in Silverton is a great place for a romantic date. The restaurant is small but elegant, with "mood lighting" and candles on each table. We were served two little pork skewers right off the bat as a sort of pre-appetizer. Our real appetizer, the risotto suppli, was like a ball of cheesy risotto, breaded and fried and served with a yummy sauce. My entrée, the cappellini pomodoro, was fantastic, and my boyfriend's ravioli with mushrooms was also fantastic. We ordered a delicious bottle of Pinot Gris along with our dinner. Don't pass up dessert here. We had merlot-soaked pears with ice cream and a slice of chocolate cake (not your ordinary chocolate cake!) which was absolutely divine. The place wasn't busy and the service was great. A romantic setting and delicious food!

Being a California native who heads to Napa, Sonoma, and Livermore wine country establishments at least a few times a year, the Silver Grille was a truly unexpected find. A friend's parents had recently tried it and suggested that we have dinner here. After a perfect day of hiking at Silver Falls State Park, three of us dropped in at about 6:30 without a reservation and although there wasn't seating readily available in the main dining room, we were able to find a table next to the bar, which suited us perfectly. The entire dining experience was superb and closely monitored by who we discovered later is the chef/owner Jeff Nizlek. Wine selection was very nice and Chef Nizlek located a bottle of Zerba Wild Z, which really helped to round out our meal given that this is one of our favorite wines from the Pacific Northwest. Everything from presentation of the appetizer to the individually plated entrees was perfect. The goat cheese cavatelli with lamb ragout was the star this evening (though we all enjoyed our dishes) and we're very glad we didn't pass on the desserts. We never felt rushed and the ambience was intimate, warm, and friendly. The last time I had an experience like this where we were treated with such warm hospitality by the chef/owner was when I was visiting a friend and we dined in a very nice place in Toulouse, France. Can't wait to return here again (and I'm sure we'll be back whenever we're visiting the Salem/Silver Falls area). Cheers!

My wife and I had a wonderful, quiet dinner at Silver Grille on Saturday evening to celebrate our anniversary. We started with the Gorgonzola Bruschetta, which was a nice sized portion for two. They were very rich and flavorful -- just what we had hoped for. For our salad course, my wife ordered the Naughty Librarian, which she loved, while I went with the Caesar -- it came with nice fresh romaine and the dressing had some good tang to it. My only complaint is that my wife and I had hoped to stretch out the evening by ordering separate courses, but our starter came out at the same time as our salads. For entrees, my wife went with the Butternut Squash Ravioli with Local Mushroom Sauce, and said the flavors were rich yet complex -- she loved it. I went with the special of the evening -- Medallions of Beef Tenderloin (which had been slit and stuffed with cured pork fat) that came with a reduced red wine sauce, a delicious potato gratin, and cooked vegetables. I've eaten my share of filet mignon and beef tenderloin in my day, and this dish ranks up there with the very top. The beef was absolutely the most tender I have ever had, and both the sauce and the infused pork fat added great flavor. I could have eaten another helping for dessert... Speaking of dessert, my wife ordered some sort of blueberry tart, and I ordered a rich devil's food mousse cake (which I could not finish). It was very good as well, but not as memorable for me as my entree. We will be back for sure.

The owners are wonderful people. Very hands on. And the food is the freshest you can get. Always prepared in the most spectacular way. I love this place, and although I live in Los Angeles now, every time I go home to Silverton, I always try and grab dinner here. Wishing you guys continued success!!!

Wonderful little restaurant in Silverton. The chef is friendly and available to make recommendations and answer questions. All the ingredients are fresh and delicious. Great selection of local wine to pair with the well prepared food. Had the rack of lamb and the salmon. Both were as good and even better than some of the fancy restaurants in Portland.

I've described this place as "great food, kinda quirky." And every time I go, it proves me right. The first time I went, the server couldn't pronounce "kalamata," the type of olives in the dinner special. It came out sounding like "clamato"--isn't that clam juice or something? gave us the giggles all night. When I last ate there, we were seated at 6, yet after ordering the special (penne alfredo with pancetta and chicken), the server asked to substitute angel hair for the penne. It's only 6 and you're out of the main ingredient for your dinner special? yeah. Kinda quirky. But the food, overall, is delightful. Good mingling of flavors, like the tri-tip with Shiraz and shitake reduction, or the cajun etouffe with andouille sausage and alligator. The wine list is nice, lots of local wines, and the desserts are quite nice and taste homemade. We had the key lime pie which was creamy and tart. I like coming here since I live in Salem. On a nice early fall evening, the drive out through the farmland is beautiful. Silverton is a cute little town to explore, and having a tasty restaurant in town makes it all the better. The only real negative about the Silver Grille is how noisy it gets in the dining room. It's small with very high ceilings, so when there are large groups (both times I've been) the noise level drowns out the ability for most other conversations.

Executive Chef and owner Jeff Nizlek is great. With an ever changing menu featuring local, seasonal and organic food, you are always surprised and delighted. I worked here on an unpaid externship from Western Culinary Institute. I remember local mushroom pickers showing up to the back door with pounds of fresh chantrelles. The Gorgonzola Bruschetta is phenomenal. If available, the wild mushroom pottage with a white truffle foam and shaved black truffles is like sex in a bowl. The Foi Gras terrine with sauterne jelly was to die for. For dessert, his creme brulee is the best one I have tasted stateside. Served with house made shortbread cookies, it's my favorite. Jeff left the Grille to work at various other restaurants and the food went downhill. He's now back and in my opinion, it's worth the drive from Portland. Call and inquire about his winemakers dinners. They are delightful

the food is good and the wine list is decent. the problem that we experienced with our party of 7 was that the service was slow due to not having enough servers. in addition, one table of 4 were talking very loudly throughout the meal to the point we could not converse and hear each other well. many other diners also experienced the same problem if they were sitting close to these people. this problem was brought to the attention of the wait staff person and she agreed with our observation. i assumed she told mgt. but nothing was done about it and thus we left without dessert of after dinner drinks. i think if this establishment wants to be considered as one of the better dining facilities in the area they need to establish some rules reasonable rules to handle these kinds of situations.

Stopped here again after a SilverFalls hike. Started with two glasses ... a great Pinot & a French table blend, and field flowers in olive oil with bread. Shrimp and local asparagus over the best cheese and butter risotto. Pork tenderloin in a special stone ground mustard BBQ sauce and polenta. Deserts were amazing!!! Coffee seemed another treat. The chef is amazing and his lovely wife waits the table with personal care. It's made this Friday a special day.

such a gem in Silverton. Food was fantastic and the wine recommendation by the chef was spot on. Pricing was very reasonable as well. My husband and I had a very well rounded meal with wine, apps, entrees, dessert and after dinner drinks for about $120. Ridiculously great value and experience IMO. If you are in the area, you must go. Heck even if you're not in the area and just want a great meal, head over to Silver Grille.

We had a very good dinner for the 4 of us that was marred by an obnoxious table of 8 people who were drinking when we arrived and drinking when we left. They were loud and no one ever said anything to them. They were yelling and making such a fuss that we could barely hear one another, and we were sitting across the restaurant. Ridiculous! The owner/mgr obviously is more interested in $$$ from his 8-top than the enjoyment by the rest of his patrons. Shame on you.

It is almost difficult to put into words the warm feelings my husband and I have for this restaurant! In the small town of Silverton, this restaurant is outstanding. The food is high quality, local, and prepared by a high end chef in a small town. We are crazy about the 'Naughty Librarian' salad, entrees always please and (as an Italian) I am thrilled when I find handmade pastas as part of an offered entree. The menu changes regularly, capitalizing on seasonal veggies and flavors. The ambiance is intimate and warm, service is friendly and accommodating. More than once have I asked about having them prepare something not traditionally on the menu and they have exceeded expectations! Additionally, the owner/chef Jeff is terrific. He is thoughtful with the menu, supplies high quality meals, and routinely serves his masterpieces and checks in with tables. He is open to friendly banter and has had me doubled over in laughter, almost on the floor, more than once with friendly harassment. The Silver Grille stands out in Silverton, and is as regular an indulgence as we can make it. Desserts are worth considering regardless of how much you've already managed to eat. You are likely to leave smiling and content. Most definitely worth a try!

My wife and I stumbled upon the Silver Grill on the way back to Beaverton from Silver Falls park. What a great chance meeting of two hungry people and good food. Just reading the menu told us several things: a limited menu meant that the chef could focus, there was an excellent variety and the prices were fair. My wife started with the mushroom soup and I had the Caesar salad - both were done very well. Although several entrees tempted us neither one of us could resist the home made fettuccine noodles with a lamb bolognese. Oh wow, this was the perfect mixture of flavors. We left the Silver Grille totally satisfied and happy. Will we be back - of course.

we walked in without a reservation on a friday night.... we chose to sit in the bar as there were no tables. great service, absolutely delicious food. unfortunately ( KINDA-SORTA?!?) i loved my entree ( shrimp scampi on a fantastic risotto) soooo much that i ate every last bit and all of the incredible gorgonzola bruschetta, so there was no room for dessert...ah, next time.... very friendly place. alot of the customers seemed to know eachother and even though we knew no one it still felt very friendly. very nice.

My wife and I celebrated our valentines day at the Silver Grille. The chef had a prix fixe menu that night available, but one could also order off the menu. The only difficult part of the evening was deciding on dinner. We chose the 3 course prix fixe, and our server recommended two wines that were off menu. In a word, this place is phenomenal. The laid back vibe, fantastic (and beautifully presented) courses and wine selection was unbeatable in the area. The whole staff was very friendly as well. Silver Grille is a must in our opinion! Thanks for a great evening. We'll be back.

This is the second time I've eaten at the Silver Grille. They get top marks in my book for the food, the service, and ambience. They easily accommodated six of us and were welcoming and attentive. The entire meal from appetizers through dessert was delicious!

What a wonderful fine. Spent the day at Silver Falls Park (gorgeous!) and then had an amazing dinner here. My wife had the tri-tip which she thought was the best she had ever had. I had the goat's chevre frittata with morels. i'm allergic to cow's milk but do OK with chevre and this was pretty spectacular. Dessert was a triple chocolate flourless cake, which was good, but oddly, the bottom was rubbery and cold. That was the only downside to the meal; otherwise 5 stars.

I've been a fan of the Silver Grille since I first moved to Silverton 10yrs ago (aside from when Jeff took a break from the restaurant). There have been sliglht changes to the format over time, but overall, Jeff has maintained his commitment to creative, exquisitely-prepared dishes with fresh, local ingredients. I've probably had a top 20 lifetime dining experience here (monkfish maybe 6-7yrs ago). The service is always friendly, the atmosphere nice without being pretentious, and the food is something you'd expect to find in Portland, not a small town in the Willamette Valley. It's a must-visit if you're in the area.

Good food. Good service. Good experience and we'll likely make the short trip from Eugene to eat here again. Hard to find anything to be critical of with our experience.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
