This is a small gem in Salem. Be prepared to wait a little bit as there is only one waitress and 7 tables in the whole resturant. However, it is totally worth the wait. The biscuit gravy here is to die for! Food was hot. Waitress worked her tail off to make sure everyone was taken care of. Prices are very reasonable and portions were generous. This is a must try!

I love finding and eating at local restaurants while traveling. The Ritz is a gem just off I-5 in Salem, OR. Great service and absolutely delicious food. The homemade hash was heavenly! Don't miss this one!

5 stars for the food. It was fantastic. And everyone else's also looked amazing. My husband and I decided on a whim to go for breakfast. There is no waiting room inside the restaurant (it is very small, with about 6 booths and a bar for 7 or so) so we had to wait outside until a table left. The waitress was very kind and attentive, especially for being the only one serving. It is a very homey feel and the food is most wonderful.

Just a good breakfast. Nothing special. Bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. What else do you need. Later.

Driving through and yelped this place. It is really small, 3 booths, 4 tables and a counter with 6 stools, thats it! We ordered breakfast and an order of biscuits and gravy to share so we could try them. Absolutely heavenly, my son that doesn't really care for gravy loved them. the service was outstanding, wish they would come to California!

Limited menu, friendly service ( although she got out order wrong), great pancakes. The only thing I ordered was pancakes without butter. I got pancakes with 4 tablespoons of butter. I hate to send food back, so I ate around the fat. The tea was warm, but not hot. No fruit or poached eggs on menu. Sorry, but I have to say.., keep driving there's an Ihop down the street.

I was starving after leaving Portland sans breakfast at 6 AM so not long into the trip, I busted out my road trip app and found The Ritz Diner nearby. This tiny little diner was certainly not what I expected when I stepped out of my car but I'm not one to judge so in I went! A friendly waitress greeted us and her sincere cheerfulness eased my cranky, hungry, self. My husband ordered the gravy and biscuits & I got the chicken tenders. He has this thing where he has to compare any biscuit and gravy to that of his mother's; I was just in dire need of protein to survive me the trip to San Francisco. I was pleasantly surprised how delicious my chicken tenders were. They were nicely seasoned - not bland like at other diners - and neither the chicken nor the fries were greasy! How do they do that? Delicious and not greasy? The portions are also huge! I ended up taking half of my order to go, along with several dipping sauces that the waitress was very generous in giving. I actually ate my leftovers several hours later, which is rare for me when on the road. All in all, I think this is an excellent place to stop by when on a road trip because it is a delightful alternative to greasy fast food places you normally find on the interstate!

Nice food if not outstanding. For your basic U.S.A. breakfast this place will do as well as any and better than some. I got an omelet and there was quite a bit of meat in it.

Been to Ritz 2 or 3 times . First time asked for water with lemon, but they were out of lemons. Ok then asked for eggs with the 'German' sausage. Ok out of the German sausage too. Second time I did order the german sausage. Turns out the German sausage us really just a hot dog. Writing this review to balance out the others here. I recimmend Denny's which is near to Ritz as better choice.

Met some family from out of town at the Ritz this morning and everyone seemed happy, especially me! I ordered the #14, which is the 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy, one egg (over medium) and pork of your choice (sausage patty). There is no way in the world this should be called a "1/2 order" of biscuits and gravy. I would say that the #14 is a full order and the #15 (their idea of a full order) is actually a double or triple order. But it was ultra-yummy. Yes, the Ritz is a tiny place, but that is part of the charm. The rowdy dude (I very much enjoyed his humor) hasn't been there for my last couple of visits, but the food hasn't changed. Part of the fun was listening to the rowdy dude bicker with some of the regulars at the bar. Anyway, as always, I was not disappointed. I love this place for breakfast!

I've always wanted to try this little place. Finally I went for it. I had the normal pancakes, eggs and ham. My wife went with the Chicken fried steak breakfast. Mine was OK, but she loved hers. I wasn't impressed that much, the price was a little high but the service made up for it. Wish it was in a better location.

If you are a breakfast connoisseur of mom and pop restaurants you've arrived at the Ritz diner. It is a small hole in the wall but this place turned my son into a steak and egg man for breakfast, while not breaking my wallet. It is a small shack on the corner of Lansing and Lancaster. They serve your eggs to order, homemade gravy and the coffee is fresh and the refills keep coming.

salem's ORIGINAL greasy spoon. and a damn fine maker of all things breakfast. conveniently located at a very busy intersection, the ritz is a small house/large trailer, converted into a diner. there are about a half-dozen bar stools and a matching number of 2-4 person tables, so this is not the place to go with a group. the coffee leaves much to be desired (seriously, this place doesn't have anything a greasy spoon shouldn't have, and everything it should). the food is damn good, especially for the price - you're not going to find a full plate of biscuits and gravy for $6 anywhere else - and even if you do, it won't be as good. i bet i know what you're thinking. "if this place is so great, why are you only giving it three stars?" well, i'll tell you. the owner is a jerk. not necessarily to the patrons (smart guy), but he treats his staff like idiots. in a place too small for anyone to not be seen or heard, i've experienced him chewing staff out on a number of occasions, and talking down to them in general. for most, especially in a joint like this, his attitude is not a problem. for me, it just makes me far less inclined to give him my money seeing that his employees are treated so rudely. now that my days of skipping class in high school are over and i'm only in salem to spend time with family, i only stop at the ritz maybe once or twice a year. the food is worth trying, but only you can decide if you want to regularly support an old prat.

This place is really tiny but they turn over the tables super fast despite the fact that there was only one waitress. She was very friendly considering how busy she was, not easy to do. I had the steak and eggs and it was delicious. My boyfriend had the biscuits and gravy and he said it was the best biscuits and gravy he ever had. I agreed that it was very delicious. The only reason I give it a four star, Is because there is no restroom.

Everything's great can't beat it the waffles are awesome they make them right there with their secret recipe and biscuits and gravy are awesome . clam chowder is better than moes and I always leave the place full and service is great it cannot be beat . I don't know how those waitresses take care of all those customers so well being the only one on the floor but they do a great job taking care of their customers
