I LOVE Pietro's Pizza, they have probably one of the best Pizza's in town. In fact many competitors try to imitate them. Their pizzas are always loaded with toppings and I love their super thin crispy crust. It's excellent cold the next day too! They have a nice arcade and a mini-golf course indoors and a nice little laser tag arena.

I have been here several times and have taken my kids here and have even had one of my own birthdays here, this place is pretty cool but to be honest with you when I first heard about it I kind of cringed because I am Maggette and a Chucky cheese experience, One of those loud places for kids where you spend 100 bucks on the tokens and eat crappy pizza but to my amazement when I first saw the pizza I had to take a double take. I was in shock and it was delicious and I never thought I would say it but sometimes I will go by this place just for the pizza, and let me tell you I am 41 years old and I hesitate not to Play some laser tag or miniature golf! Yeah baby! Last time I lost to a six-year-old! Booooo!

Cardboard crust, cold pizza, no sauce, terrible service, dirty diningroom, staff eating their own food while making yours.. at the same time.. ick

Pietro's was a childhood favorite I didn't get to visit very often so was excited to try it again so many years later while passing through town. Ordered a custom pizza & was really happy with the outcome. The staff was super friendly & allowed us to modify one of their specialty pizzas which I think ended up being less expensive than a build-your-own. If you're a fan of spicy, try our fave: pepperoni, crispy bacon, pineapple, jalapeños & garlic on red (extra) sauce. Absolutely delicious! Don't forget a side of ranch if you're feeling extra indulgent! Can recommend this location; thanks for the memories Pietro's!!

Pirates, lazer tag, and pizza. What do these things have in common? In the voice of Samuel Jackson "not a damn thing!" But for reals, it's good combination. The pizza is good, but I think the taco pizza could use improvement. Lazer tag is awesome, not good for people with asthma though. Plenty of quarter sucking games for the kids, good atmosphere. The salad bar is real bit or miss. I half expect a pube in there someday. Bonus point for having Pepsi products and good beer.

Stopped by for lunch today and thought the pizza was pretty good. It took a little while, but not quite long enough for me to go up and ask about it. The salad bar was ok, not great, but served the purpose. I thought the veggies were too big - carrots, "baby" corn, radishes and broccoli were all a big large. I like the veggies small for salad. We ordered a small combo pizza and added onion and green pepper and we were very happy with that. The crust was crispy and it was topped nicely. It looks like a fun place for kids. We didn't play any of the games, but thought it was funny that there was a also Wunderland arcade next door. That brought back some memories from high school! Would definitely stop in again if ever traveling through Salem.

They deliver and have gluten free crust. The pizza had tons of ingredients and was fresh as hell! It was by far one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. They were cheaper then papa johns. Highly recommend!

The pizza is pretty dang good and the kids can run off some steam. Just bring quarters

Came here the other day and had some really good sushi. Outside looks bad but the inside was ok. Did all you can eat. Have some good rolls that I have never tried before.

I travel to Salem regularly for business. Tonight I was on Hawthorne on my way back to my room from a hard days work. So I stopped at Pietro's and picked up some lasagna, breadsticks and salad, for take-out. The salad was ok. Not real fresh, but not wilted. The lasagna was horrible. The doppia riccia (noodles) were mushy, the cheese had a weird consistency that reminded me of Velveeta!!! The meat sauce had an awful taste. I have had better frozen TV dinners! To add insult to injury... the bread sticks were like oversized croutons, hard, and cold.

Really good food here. Service if you can call it that is a lil interesting.... its cafeteria style but they still solicited tips on the debit/credit receipt. Not sure why they do that if everything is self service. Out of all the food that could be salvaged in the salad bar was good but it was extremely filthy. Lots of brown lettuce, low balance of food items, cross over and food every where, including the floor. The saving grace? The food that we ordered was awesome. We had lasagna, little Italy pizza, breadsticks, and they were the best breadsticks I had ever had in my entire life. Also on the plus side is that they have Squirt on tap! What I had of the lasagna was great but be aware that it is 70% marinara. I took a picture of it to show you how much was noodle and how much was marinara. The lasagna portion was less than the size of your palm. We'll be back but we'll be careful of what we order and skip the salad bar if it looks horrible again.

Pizza was good but not cut into slices correctly and then 1/2 the games were broken. Very disappointed kids kept having to wait for games since so many were out of order. Will not come back dave and busters is way better.

My review is based on delivery and not the place itself. I actually refuse to eat there because the place is so busy and swarming with kids running around. Love having Pietro's delivery over other joints like pizza hut, dominos, etc. Its worth the extra couple of dollars for much fresher ingredients. Although Pietro's is not my favorite pizza brand to eat, it is my favorite style of pizza crust (Oregon/NW Style), so it is a nice option for delivery. The staff is always friendly, my order is always delivered well before the quoted time on the phone and it is always hot and fresh tasting.

If I could rate a zero, I would. Absolutely the worst overall service, with the worst front counter service on top of it. After getting plenty of paying guests with a whole basketball team here to visit.... They forgot our expensive side order of tomatoes, ordered a 5 meat top pizza with literally 3 toppings and was terrible. Once I called, left on hold for so long I already pulled up to the restaurant to fix the problem... They did nothing. Gave me the tomatoes that were then warm. Didn't offer nor apology for anything regarding their overpriced gross pizza. Will never return to this location!

Pietro's Pizza is located off of Salem's busy Hawthorne Avenue. The building itself is sandwiched between two motels and a whole slew of strip mall businesses. Parking can be quite tight. You'll probably have better luck finding a place to park on the South end of the building. Some poor souls (like me) attempt to park along the Northern part of the strip mall and end up in an alley behind the building. The Salem Pietro's sports a large interior. Besides pizza they also offer a large game room, laser tag, and golf. This of course means lots of children. The kids here have to run everywhere they go and most of them are paying no attention to where they're going. Exercise caution when entering or exiting your table or you're likely to have a collision. This Salem restaurant is a "please wait to be seated" kind of an establishment. Unusual for a pizza parlor. You order your pizza at the counter and then a server brings your food. Pietro's gives you a "stop" placard and instructs you to leave it up while you're still eating and then lay it down when you want your table cleared. A strange setup indeed but I guess it works with so many children leaving their tables. The staff here is quite nice and accommodating. The Salem Pietro's serves up Pietro's signature crispy crust and delicious pizza sauce. Various pizza combinations are offered with large selections of toppings. Prices run from about $4.70 for an "individual" pizza to about $25.80 for a large. The wait time for a pizza is about ten to fifteen minutes which I thought was fair. This Salem property is kind of the odd cousin of the Pietro's family. However, it's still a place to have some fun and enjoy one of Oregon's legendary pizzas. The children bouncing off the walls can attest to that!

We ordered a pizza and were told that it would take approx 35 minutes. Pizza was delivered to our table almost an hour later. Pizza was okay but the tomatoes were barely red (mostly green) and not edible. The restaurant was not very crowded. The table across from us was left with dirty dishes for at least 45 minutes. Not very appetizing to look at. We left and the table was still dirty. We have visited Pietro's many times in the past 7 years. Pizza was always excellent and very good service. Not sure what happened to such a great place. Probably will never visit again.

I have a group of 6 and we are staying at the hotel next door. The natural choice was to come here and it was a pleasant surprise. It was pretty packed and we had to wait a minute for a table. The staff was very friendly. We placed our order and had it all within 15 minutes. Afterwards the kids and I hit the arcade and had a blast with the old fashion tokens and tickets. Very pleased with our choice to come here.

I haven't found a favorite pizza place in Salem, so this is it. I have had better pizza, but this is fresh and tasty. I have only had it delivered. Always good times and hot pizza. I have to ask to have then cook it a bit longer as its doughy in the middle if I forget. Love their garlic sauce and the crispy crusts.

My husband grew up going to a Pietro's Pizza -- it was a first for me. Kind of like a Chuck E Cheese. The set up was foreign to me so that was a downer for me -- it took me a few minutes to understand that no one comes to you. You order at the table and they bring it to you. It also wasn't obvious to me where the straws and flatware could be found. However, on arrival of our meal -- the food was yummy. My son's meal was less than $3 and he ate all his grapes/carrots and a majority of his mac/cheese. My husband and I consumed our pizza stat. I do not like the edge crust of the pizza and always leave it over...not this one -- the food went all the way to the edge and I ate it all. The game section was very cool for kids. So if the food was good and the game section was fun -- why the 3 stars? No one tried to help me understand how the restaurant worked and when I asked the gal at the counter how it worked -- she seemed put off. Listen lady, I'm the customer and you're supposed to help. Would I go back? Yes. The difference is that I would know what to do the next time.

I am sorry if anyone reading my posts see a pattern here but I am trying to find local flavors that I am used to back in California......SO There are not many pizza parlors around that offer dine in services and fast and friendly service. Despite being aimed as a kid friendly/young adult location I find that the earlier lunch hours is the best time to come with the least amount of crowd. They have a large menu with a wide variety of options from pizza to pasta to salad bars and sandwiches. Great food for a great price and more than enough for leftovers the next day!

almost 5 stars. pizza was pretty good. cheese was plenty (got extra cheese) and the crust was perfect. hubby got some BBQ chicken, which he loved -- and it looked good! staff was excellent as always. will be back. thanks Pietros!

Pietro's Pizza is wonderful place for Pizza and fun. They have a fun atmosphere. They have arcade games and prizes like chucky cheese. The pizza is pretty good and they keep a well stocked salad bar. The menu is a large section too. They have added laser tag and mini golf. If you are looking for a slice or a place to host a party you found it.

What would I do for a really good slice of pizza? I'd suffer the unkempt hordes of children; listening to their screaming, crying, whining voices. I'd put up with the running, shoving, face-planting madness that usually accompanies any given Saturday where birthday parties of 200 or more of the hellspawn occur regularly. I have done this because I believe that Pietro's has the best pizza I've ever had. I will sit patiently, find my happy place, and wait for my order. Once my order arrives, I will inevitably burn the flesh from the roof of my mouth because I cannot wait to experience the ecstasy of scalding hot, fresh from the oven pizza. The restaurant itself is truly dedicated to groups of family and friends. Whole seating areas with long tables made to host parties of 20+ are everywhere. There is an indoor, blacklight filled, miniature gold course and lazertag arena. Both of these gaming areas cost extra, but are not horribly overpriced. I have been through the golf course once. It was fun, no doubt, but I am horrible at golf and my ego took a bruising. Of the many places you could go to find pizza, this is definitely one of the more costly options. You will most assuredly get what you pay for however. A must for when you think you may want something a little more promising than a cheese flavored cardboard brick that you get from the $5 places.

Yum yum I was kinda craving pizza before we jumped on the freeway to head back to Los Angeles and this place did not disappoint, in fact the pizza was even a bit better than the pizza over at the rock Wood fire pizza place! Yum cheesy toasty warm pizza yup with a name as interesting as the bartender pizza it was sure good very good! Not too cheesy and not to thin or too much sauce but just right. This is the way pizza should be, will defiantly be back during my next Salem visit.

I remember going to this place all the time before it was a giant wacky amusement park. But even though the place has morphed into a Chuck E. Cheese offshoot of sorts, the quality of the pizza still hasn't changed; it's still some of the best you'll get anywhere. I've always loved their crust and the entire texture and taste of their pizzas. Sausage and pepperoni combos are great here and it's a good idea to call ahead and just have the pizza ready to go for you when you get there. It's loud and noisy now with all the families and little kids running around, but the pizza is still well worth the racket.

Order online. Clicked delivery. They didn't get delivery requested, and processed it as my request as a pickup. Called, was transferred to a manger and and explained my problem, and she hung up on me. Won't being ordering from them again.

We love going here for a fun family outing. My husband and I can get the salad bar while the kids can have pizza. There salad bar is well stocked and the pizza is better then most and not very greasy which is nice. The also have great coupons where if you buy one large pizza you can get two people into laser tag or mini golf which is so fun for the kids. Just a great family environment.

This place used to be good. So good in fact, that if you looked at my check register, you would see: Pietros, Pietros, Fred Meyer, Pietros, PGE, car payment, Pietros, Pietros, Pietros, and on and on. Seriously, that good. I don't know what's happened, but it's really gross now. It may have something to do with them no focusing all of their attention on their new amusement park. I dunno. All I know is that last time I ate there, I didn't like it enough to even want to bring home leftovers. And, I felt pretty nauseous afterwards. If you try to go on a weekend, you better plan on take out. Even though they have a hundred long tables in the back, they're all reserved for birthday parties. I couldn't get a table to save my life! The gaming stuff is pretty fun though.

Amazing pizza, the crust is crunchy and a very nice texture. Also whatever topping you want, which is usually what we do when we go in, the toppings are fresh and they get your pizza out to you pretty quick. The servers have always been nice, and there's an optional salad bar and there are drinks for you to get. There's also laser tag and an arcade for the kids while you wait on your food which they bring out to your table for you. The pricing is a little spendy but you definitely get what you pay for. It's a great place to throw parties and very spacious even when it gets busy in there, overall some of the best pizza i've tasted has come from pietros. I would definitely recommend going.

I was traveling on business and was staying in Salem for the night. It had been 20yrs since I've eaten at a Pietro's but it was close to my hotel and I figured "Why not?" So I placed my order to go over the phone and they told me it would be about 20 minutes. So I waited 10 minutes and headed over to the restaurant. For a Tuesday night it was madhouse in there with a ton of kids running around like nuts. After waiting in line for almost 15 minutes I paid for my order and they said "about 5 more minutes". Well, it actually took another 15 minutes. Like previous reviewers have stated the service is pretty slow. But the pizza? Very good! Lots of toppings, crust was cooked perfectly. This is not the place for a quiet meal but as long as you're not in a hurry, a really good pizza. If it was this busy on a Tuesday I wouldn't want to experience a Friday or Saturday night.

Kind of dirty. Not to noisy even with the game section nearby.

  • Dayna P.

Pietro's is not outstanding. The pizza is thick and the ingredients are plentiful, but it seems to me like the flavor falls short. It's also a little more expensive than I'd choose to pay for the quality. I can agree with the previous reviewer that the phone service is pretty terrible, and add that the in person service leaves something to be desired. Nonetheless, it's been around for years, maybe for it's convenient location and fast delivery.

pizza was ok i suppose, still way better than say walery's or j.c's... the price was high i looked at the salad bar also brown wilted lettuce one thing i liked was the buzz was very fun atmosphere kids parties etc

Sneaky Sneaky. That's how I would describe Pietros. (Previously I rated higher) Today, I learned that an individual sized pizza is the SAME size as the kid's pizza. Ironically, a one topping/two topping individual sized pizza is $ 4.60 and the kid's pizza which can pepperoni, cheese or hawaiian is $3.50!!! Not only is the kid's pizza cheaper but it comes with a free soda. I am not cheap, I just like to be analytical. The individual sized pizza is good for kids, since it's a lot of food for them. However not for anyone over 14. 6 inch pizza, imagine having a pizza on one of those 'dessert' plates at a buffet. How this place works: GO in, there is a sign that says "please SEAT yourself" not wait to be seated. There are booths and chairs to choose from. Once you found a seat, you go up to the counter and order. Then you are given a number, and food is deliver to your table. To play the arcade, there is a self service token change machine. To make sure your food doesnt get thrown away, they offer customers signs that say " we are at the arcade, and will be returning" IN SHORT: It works like Chuck E Cheese

I have fond memories of Pietro's pizza parties for all my childhood birthdays. Back then there were many more locations and when we went as a family to our favorite location - I always made us sit under the portrait of Shirley Temple. I was really put out one time because someone was already seated under her and no other film star would do! I love the pizza. The crust is unique - crispy but not thin. The toppings are tasty and the pepperoni has the crispy edges I like. As a child I would only eat plain cheese. If I traveled back to Salem more often, I would have an opportunity to eat at Pietro's regularly. As it is, all I can do is recommend that anyone who travels to Salem give this joint a try - I frankly, love the food. Service? Meh. My experience the last time seemed to indicate this is a business that employs many high school kids. Service doesn't always come with a smile but you can have an extra serving of angst, sneer or dismissal if you'd like! :) The PIZZA is the reason to come - it is delicious.

The crust and pizza sauce are good, but the cheese is just weird tasting. Salad bar is fair, not a huge, fresh selection, but edible.

  • Jando S.

The pizza here is nothing to crow home about, but its remained one of the most popular pizza joints in all of Salem over the last couple of decades. The pizza sizes are large, toppings are plentiful (see meatlover's pizza--wow!), the prices are decent, and the drinks are unlimited. I've never had to deal with terrible service here just yet however I've dealt with poor phone manners on more than one occasion. The actual restaurant is located near the highway, making it not the most ideal location to celebrate a pizza party. Regardless, the place is well kept, and ideal for family dining and kiddie celebrations.

We hit this place on the way through town on a road trip last month and loved it so much that we planned a trip back to Salem with our 8 year old so he could experience it. This is so much better than Chuck E Cheese's. The pizza is pretty great with a nice topping selection and the games are fun. We really wanted to do the golf and laser tag but just ran out of time. Some of the games needed maintenance or out of order signs and the salad bar hadn't been tended to recently on this visit but we're still fans.

This is coming late, since our visit was in July... but I'm working my way through our summer's trip to Oregon. I first visited Pietro's when my wife and I were in Salem, OR for my now brother-in-law's wedding, about four years ago as of this writing. I had incredibly fond memories of this pizza: the chewy crust with the cornmeal on the bottom, the fresh taste of the toppings... my mouth watered at the very thought of this pizza, even during the four years away from this pizzeria. The first time we went, we got it to go. There was no one in the place as we ordered and waited, but I remember the lively atmosphere. There were plenty of video games and decorations that seemed to say, "Family fun zone is right here." I couldn't remember what the decorations were, but now that I had a chance to come back, I was reminded. Pirates. The place was full of pirate stuff. And this time, it was crowded with kids aplenty. I was not to be deterred: I was going to get my pizza and love it. It had been four years, and no screaming child was going to get in my way. We ordered two different pizzas: a pepperoni, to satisfy those that didn't want to deal with certain toppings like mushrooms and olives (those people are sacrilegious), and, if I remember correctly, a Pietro's Combo: pepperoni, salami, beef (sausage), olives, and mushrooms. The crust was very good: crispy yet chewy, with a nice texture and mouth feel. The combo came with lots of toppings, so describing it as decadent, regardless if that word is overused, is accurate. It was a very good pizza, and they used good ingredients, but the abundance of toppings made it a rich, filling pie. If you want a simple pizza, this was not it; it was quite overloaded. The pepperoni pizza was very much like a Round Table pizza except for the crust. The cheese was dominant, causing the crust to take a back seat. I'm not sure if it was the amount of cheese or just the brand/kind they used - it has been some time since the summer so I can't recall. It was good cheese, and tasty, but it certainly overshadowed the crust. If you're looking for pizza that will make you feel self-indulgent when eating the toppings, Pietro's is definitely a must. Beware, though, for their lovely crust takes a back seat to those toppings, which is a shame.

Ok pizza. These guys got same pizza as pattingtons and Walerys. The owners were connect some time ago that why there so close to being the same. But the price us to high. Go to Walerys in west salem.

Best pizza in Oregon. The decor is a little strange. It used to be a fire house and there is still a pole in the middle. But for some reason the theme is now pirates. Hmmmm. That aside the pizza is great. Love the corn meal on the bottom of the thin crust pizza. We stop there every time we drive through Oregon.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
