My husband and I used to go to Lucky Fortune quite often for dinner. At first is was great but things were going down hill. October 31st of last year, we went there for dinner, and there was not one single customer there and it took over 20 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us. So we just sat ourselves down. We were in plain sight and they can see us but they were walking by us and didn't stop by our table. After 15 more minutes, we just got up and left. We used to get our food within the first ten minutes of walking in. We have gone back a couple more times after that and the serves still kind of sucks bad. We have noticed that the food has even gotten more salter. We haven't been there in about a couple of weeks and are now looking for a better Chinese place to eat.

Before going to the University of Oregon I would come here every week...usually to get the hot and sour soup..but I try everything here. The people that I know that own the restaurant is Tom and Toby, they're brothers. They have always given me outstanding service. I stopped coming here for a few years when I started going to school at UO, when I came back to visit..they always remembered my order, which to me, is great service. I wish I still had the photos I took of the dishes, they're HUGE! The location of the restaurant is not great, and it's not a fancy restaurant so you shouldn't expect anything fancy, but I love their food, they have great prices, a huge selection, and poor Toby....they usually close at 2am, but I came in around 3:30am and he still made me food and let me stay until I finished. I hate the area where it is located, but I absolutely adore the people that work here. I've never had a bad meal or service. ALSO, in their bar (sometimes you meet some interesting and weird people) they have two pool tables, a dance floor, karaoke on thursday nights I believe? And they have amazing drink specials....nowhere in Salem can you get these types of specials. If you want your drink STRONG..this is the place to go! They're almost like family to me, they've always given me the BEST service possible and I wish they opened another restaurant in Portland because the trip back to Salem is getting tiresome, but it's so worth it when I come here. I hope they read this review because they are outstanding business owners.

I went here today with the family. We ordered appetizer plate and lucky's lo mein noodles and fried rice. The food was great. Hot and fresh. The waiter was great too! We order from here all the time. We have never had bad service.

We have eaten dinner here many times this past year and have had the dinner special. The pricing is hard to beat in this area and the food is very good. The service has varied on our visits from, the feeling like the server did not want to be there to great service. Will be visiting again.

Just went there tonight, and although the food was good, the service was absolutely HORRIBLE! I had ordered a soda off of their menu, and figured that there were unlimited refills, since that's the case at 99% of the other restaurants I've been to. When I received the bill, they had charged me for two drinks, so I had kindly notified the cashier when I went to pay my ticket, and he had told me that the reason why there were two drinks was because I was in fact I was being charged for two sodas. Then I informed him that nowhere in the menu does it state that there are no refills on their beverages, and his answer to that was, rather rudely "don't assume, if it's something you care about you should ask". I've got to say that this guy was completely rude, and my wife and I will most certainly not be returning.

I have been visiting this restraunt for many years now and have never had a bad service. Out of all the Chinese places in Salem, this is by far the best one. The food is great. The waiters/waitresses are friendly and very helpful. I highly recomend eating here.

First time here. Excellent service, great tasting food, and large portions. Ordered one Senior 3 item combo plate, 2 entrees and 1 appetizer. Bill came to $27 and change. Definitely will return.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
