I really like the potato pancakes. I had them for the first time yesterday morning. And, I'm thinking about them this morning. Enough said :) Try them with your breakfast instead of the hash browns. I had it as part of the $5.99 two egg breakfast. Great deal. Oh, if you don't like bacon and chives, these potato pancakes aren't for you. The service this time was great even though they were fairly busy.

I have only had their breakfast. The best pancakes around! This place was recommended to me and I was not dissapointed. The pancakes were huge, the bacon crispy and the coffee hot and good. I went back for seconds on the next day before I flew back home.

I love to go to Annette's for breakfast. I'm not so sure I'm such of fan of their lunch/dinner stuff because I reserve my visits for the breakfast crowd. And there usually is a crowd; I have often waited up to ten minutes for a table standing in the small entry way. Staff is average, not speedy/slow. Could be more attentive, but like I said, it's usually pretty packed. Once you are seated, it doesn't feel so crowded and it's not too too loud. Very generous portions and excellent food all-around. I usually get breakfast platter variations. The french toast is coated in some sort of cornflake mixture and is incredibly delicious. Sausage and bacon are also both excellent. Coffee is good, but sometimes a little burnt. Average cafe menu. Decor is nice enough. I definitely see this as being a local hangout for the older crowd, but I'm in my 20's and it didn't bother me a bit. Nice local place to make a regular breakfast nook. Someday I'll have to try their lunch/dinner menus.

Saturday dinner. Seafood fettuccine with a small dill accompaniment and shrimp fettuccine. Both were spot on. I just wish they still had the small carousel horse in the lobby and one less table in the dining room - it's packed in tight. It's difficult to make a round trip to the salad bar without getting in someone's way. Too loud and cramped to be more than mildly intimate and romantic - that's what we had been hoping for. We were seated quickly and friendly. And served in the same manner. And leftovers were just as tasty and memorable!

Had breakfast(and lunch as I ate the other half of my meal a few hours later) at Annettes. Wow big portions of your standard breakfast fair done well. I had the haystack with a huge pile of above average hash browns tons of sausage, onions and peppers covered in cheese. Only criticism is that I think they may have forgot the baking power in the homemade biscuit, It was the size of a softball and weighed about 2 pounds. Pancakes and omelette's also caught my eye as the waitress whisked them by our table to other patrons

I give this place four stars for breakfast and two stars for dinner. We end up going here for dinner by default a few times a year if we don't feel like Mexican food and we want to stay in West Salem. The last time I went there for dinner I ordered the French dip because I figured it was hard to screw up French dip--but I was wrong. It was dry and icky. Breakfast on the other hand is always great. So that averages out to OK. Three stars.

Great all-around restaurant in West Salem. Service and price gives it four stars instead of five. However, there are so many great tasting menu choices that there is something for everyone to enjoy. (They will also often adjust some menu items for vegetarians!) Great family place.

The music was great, the service was out of this world and the food was unbeatable.

Oh my! This was our second time here. The first time it was good food, but really unremarkable. This time it was very tasty....and what they say about the service is accurate. Friendly staff. We had three meals, but should have ordered two and just shared around. My 20 year old son wanted the chicken fried steak. He debated between the 4 oz one and the 8 oz portion as he LOVES cfs. He decided on 8 oz....needless to say the 4 oz would have been fine with plenty of left overs. I had biscuit and gravy, nothing spectacular, but it was good. My husband had cinnamon french toast with two pieces of bacon and two sausage links. This was an amazing meal. The meat was so tasty, and the French toast was very well done. As it was Sunday we ordered a Bloody Mary and a bloody Maria. So darn good with just enough spice. We saw them making a drink we did not recognize and asked them about it....it was a Spanish coffee. As we had never had one we knew we wanted to share one. I think I am converted. Just a very cool presentation of the drink. We were able to eat in the bar to avoid the wait for a table....highly recommend them.

The hash browns I got were enormous and very tasty! My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy with bacon. She said that the biscuits could have been more moist and the bacon could have been crisper. But overall it was pretty good.

This is a great little bustling breakfast joint, fast-paced and a little bit loud and packed for good reason because the portions are not only large but the food is great for the price and the location is kind of nice little bit off of the beaten path and if you're in that area of the Edgewater West Salem section of town it really is the best little spot for breakfast or lunch probably as well. You have to be careful though because they are so fast at filling your coffee That you will walk out of there wired to the gills!

  • Ainsley E.

Super tasty and HUGE portions. Be prepared to take some leftovers! This place has a large variety of things to order. I always end up getting their all you can eat salad bar. It's always very fresh, and there is so much to choose from (pickled asparagus, even seaweed salad!) It's super yummy! It's a cute place, staff is super friendly and sweet. It does get a bit busy and crowded, but it's a true gem! Lovely home style cooking, huge portions plates.

Though it's OK we expected more based on the reviews and suggest unless you're there for the bar or early and late hours consider going elsewhere. The positives are long hours, outdoor seating, and dining and bar areas. The so-so part is the food. The steak, fried clams and fried shrimp were passable but nothing to write home about. The service was slow like we were invisible at times.

  • Missy R.

Yummmmmmmmmm. Bacon bloody Marys.....big juicy price of bacon, a pickled green bean and a perpercini with a horseradish bloody Mary mix......need I say more? Well I will. Portions are huge. I have never ordered anything I haven't liked here and I have never left hungry or without leftovers. This place has adorable ambience and awesome outdoor seating as well as bar outdoor seating. I miss living in Salem only because I loved breakfast here so much.

Food was excellent no doubt about it. The service was not very good. I was by myself sat in the bar by the door. Every time the door would open I got a big whiff of smoke from the person sitting outsides cigarette. I thought there was a 10ft rule by the doors?? The waitresses were busy and not very accommodating. I think the service is good if your a regular but as a new person I don't feel like I had an experience to bring me back.

This is a really unique and fantastic place to eat. The service was good, the food was great, and the portions were very large. My dad got the Pulled Pork Cheeseburger, and it was the best entree ordered in our group. The sweet potato fries are the best I've had anywhere.

The service here is really great and there were so many options on the menu to choose from. They all sounded so delicious. Also, not too long of a wait even on a weekend morning!

I live in Silverton and this WILL be one of my regular destinations. The portions are crazy generous and if you're really starving you can pay a couple dollars extra and get yourself a 6 egg omelette, WHAAAAAT???? The staff makes you feel like family, and I mean the good kind of family! We had a wonderful conversation with Annette, the owner, and found out her staff has been with her for 12-18 years. That says a LOT to me about Annette and it shows in the quality and generosity of portions. I seriously encourage everyone to stop in, you'll be SOOOOO glad you did! LOVE this place!

Visiting my cousin for the first time in Salem and he insisted on eating at the "best breakfast spot".. What he didn't warn us about were the portions! We could share an order between a few people. If you don't have anyone to help you conquer the massive portions, see if they could do a half order. Highly recommend the salad bar and the chicken fried steak.

don't miss this little diner! we found it randomly a few years ago and now make a point of stopping whenever we're in or near Salem. the prime rib french dip today was the best I've ever had!

Probably the best restaurant in Salem that I have experienced. Good food, great service and a relaxing atmosphere. I think they really try to go above and beyond. I really enjoy Annette's.

  • Abbie H.

The food portions here are HUGE! The drinks are also STRONG! And prices are right. I had a chicken and shrimp breakfast skillet that lasted about three meals, and it was fabulous. We also had mimosas and bloody mary's that were very good. The wait was a bit long but if you're prepared for it, it's worth it - and also the sign of a good place to eat! I will definitely go back to Annette's when I am back in Salem.

Love Annette's! We're new to Salem and love it so much, we found ourselves there for various meals six times in our first two weeks! Okay, I don't like to cook, but why should I when both my husband and I think the people who cook at Annette's are better at it than I am, anyway? The staff are great, service is quick even when they are jam packed, the food tastes home made, and the menu is varied enough that we will have to go many, many more times before we have the chance to try everything. Aww, DARN. Thanks, Annette's!

It's hard to believe this place doesn't have more reviews considering the amount of people who come here! The food is great! The service is great! The salad bar is great! The deserts are great! The portions are generous and the price is right! Omg, eat here if you get the chance! I've been here 5 times and every time the experience has been a good one. They make my eggs right every time and that's a huge deal for me. I never leave disappointed. They really are consistent in every aspect

Sadly, nothing special - which was disappointing because the reviews were so high (that's why we tried it). I have to wonder about people in Salem - do they truly know good food?! It's located in the old Nona Rozelli's building - anyone remember Nona's?! I still dream of their Chicken & Artichoke Calzone with Bechamel. Heaven. And their house salad with fresh peas and smoked salmon instead of the obligatory Bay Shrimp. And their breadsticks covered in garlic, butter, herbs & oil - divine! Ah, but I digress. Annette's is no Nona's. First, the tables are too close together. They need to take 2 or 3 tables out and reconfigure the dining room. People were literally bumping into us at every turn. Uncomfortable. The staff is very friendly, all smiles, which was nice. Unfortunately they were slammed (apparently breakfast is a big meal for them), and all running around with their heads cut off. We were there at 10:30am on a Saturday. We waited 10 minutes to be seated. The Hostess, while friendly, was so busy running from table to table taking people silverware & menus, and bussing tables, that she had no time to make you feel welcome, relaxed, and glad to be there; instead, her frenetic pace made you feel harried and stressed. When we were seated, it was another 10 or 15 minutes before we saw a server, although a smiling young man did bring us ice cold waters right away and then iced tea and lemonade. Tea, good; lemonade, yucky. Crystal Light? A nice gal finally came to take our order. Food took about 20 minutes. Plates were really thrown together - looked like they were in a hurry to get the food on the plate instead of using any care at all. Daughter ordered French Toast - absolutely nothing special about it at all. Son ordered Club Sandwich & onion rings. He said it was good enough, not amazing; it didn't look like anything special to me. Husband ordered the Monte Cristo Sandwich - unfortunately it was just ham and swiss slapped together with what looked like pre-made French Toast, instead of the traditional preparation where the sandwich is made, then completely dunked in batter and cooked. The French Toast that was used was made with cinnamon, so the sandwich tasted of cinnamon. Very off-putting. This is not what a Monte Cristo is supposed to be -- bone dry and tasting of cinnamon. Yuck. He had hashbrowns with his, as I did with mine, and we both found that while the exterior of the hashbrowns were perfectly cooked to that crunchy golden that you only get from a flat top grill, the inside was literally mush. Gross. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken (like Chicken Fried Steak, but with chicken instead), and was so disappointed. As the name implies and I was expecting, you're looking for that crunchy fried chicken coating. Instead they use panko, which is fine - but not at all like fried chicken and not what I wanted. The gravy was fine. The eggs were overcooked and ugly. And, weirdly, there was a sad little wilted sprig of parsley swimming in my gravy. It looked like it'd been left in a hot car for 9 hours and then thrown on top of my food. ?? The meal came with the hashbrowns and your choice of English Muffin, toast, or biscuit - which is what I opted for, expecting a biscuit ... you know - a biscuit?! Light, airy, flaky? This thing was massive and HEAVY; I'd bet money it weighed a pound, seriously. And more of that desiccated parsley on the plate. ?? Did someone pay for that parsley and they'll be damned if it's going to waste?!??! The "biscuit" was dense and undercooked in the middle. It went untouched. The gal who took our order never came back after dropping off the food. The young man with the drinks did come by to fill our teas once. $55.12 for 4 for breakfast is a little pricey, especially for what we got. Sorry, Annette's. Another one bites the dust.

We met for breakfast at 10:00 on a Sunday morning. Yes, there was a waiting line to get in. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated. After we got our food, we found out why. The menu had a very wide selection of choices on it. Most of the items were unique from other restaurants. We simply ordered eggs with bacon, toast and hash browns, an omelet with hash browns and toast, and potato cakes. The food was delicious! The eggs were very fresh and cooked exactly how we ordered them, the bacon was thick cut with good smokey flavor, and the hash browns were very good. The omelet was too large to eat all in one meal, but was very good also. The potato cakes were tasty, too. The prices were high, but the food was worth the price. No complaints there. The service was good. When we asked for things, they were immediately delivered to us. A note about mobility for wheelchairs and the like. There was one wheelchair parking space in the lot around on the side. It was easy access to the door around front and to the restrooms. There was additional parking in the same lot available even though they were busy. I would return to this restaurant for breakfast often if I lived in the area. I'm sorry that I don't!

The food here is delicious, generous portions, worth the price & the drive (we live north keizer). Customer service is amazing, always so courteous & with a smile on their face even when it's crazy busy.

This place was pretty disappointing. Some of the most over priced boring food I've ever had. The quality of the food was lacking as well. The staff was friendly but slow. Over all I would not recommend this place, so overpriced!

  • Tiffany J.

Party of 5 for dinner. They accommodated us quickly which was great! Mixed reviews on the meals though. 2 out of the 5 were good and we found the salad bar to be very good with a lot to choose from. Chicken fried steak was large but very tough and shepherds pie tasted old. Otherwise the Captains platter of seafood and the chicken club sandwich were good.

So yummy!!!! No matter what time of the day we go in, I enjoy an omelette. Mmmm! Very good bloody Mary's too. The staff is always very friendly and positive. Good atmosphere. We always take desert to go because usually we are so stuffed from the huge portion but their deserts are to yummy to pass up.

I am never disappointed when i eat here! Always great food. Huge portions, friendly staff. Great all around. Gone for breakfast and lunch and so so good. Definitely recommend the potato cakes as they are to die for! Can get pretty busy on weekends especially sunday mornings, but thats usual.

I'm a big fan of Westgate. I've never made it out here for lunch/dinner, but have the breakfast dozens of times over the years. Great portions, good prices, friendly staff and really good food. They have a pretty diverse menu, with some unique dishes along with the staples. As mentioned before, portion sizes are huge, so bring an appetite. The Titan is almost enough to feed 3, the full omelets are ginormous and even the country fried steak is a meal made for kings. I'd highly recommend their biscuits and gravy as well, all homemade and delicious!

We have eaten here 3 times. I don't remember the first time, the second time I ordered an omelette, when it came out was HUGE! The waitress said they make them with 6 eggs!! Who can eat a 6 egg omelette? Needless to say a lot of it went to waste, rewarmed eggs are not very good to me. The third time was this past Monday. There was no wait, we were seated immediately. My husband ordered the pork chops. I ordered the Calif chicken skillet. My husband's pork chops a were dry and came with a bowl of applesauce that was like really thick pie filling. He ordered his eggs over easy and they were overcooked, the yolks were hard. My meal came incorrectly so it went back. I had to wait about another 10 minutes and I was so disappointed. It was tons of potatoes, jalapeno peppers (canned, not fresh),chicken, topped with bay shrimp and avocado and served with sour cream. It really had no flavor. It needed seasonings and some kind of sauce. The serving was so huge, I barely made a dent in it. We won't go back, there are plenty of other places in salem that serve good food.

Service was quick, helpful and cheery. Food was good and as described. Large portion sizes! I got 2 things that were absolutely wonderful, Hot Chocolate and a Marion Berry Cobbler. If you want a warm friendly place to eat in West Salem come here.

This is one of our favorite places to eat because of the wonderful staff and the amazing food. I've never had any of their food that I don't love. They have excellent bloody Mary's too. The breakfast burrito is the size of your head and the chicken, bacon, avocado salad (I prefer with blue cheese) is so yummy and enough for two meals. Their salsa is so delicious, as well as the potato cakes (try them with gravy). We always take our friends and family here when they come visit.

I've been disappointed at Annette's during the last two visits. For a dinner a month ago our steaks were overcooked. Didn't make a big deal out of it; it was a busy night. However, I left a comment card which included my address, but never heard back from the manager. Then yesterday our waitress was below par; she forgot to give me a choice of potatoes and she forgot our toast side and my juice (for which she upsold me to a large - at 3.99 although the menu only mentions one price - 2.99.) Had to ask another server for both of them because our's was busy chatting with her friends at another table. I hope management can get a handle on this deterioration of service and cooking. As I said, I am disappointed.

Been searching for a good breakfast place and happened upon Annettes by accident. Perfect!! Best gravy and chicken fried steak I've had in a long time. Excellent service and ambiance. I'll be back!

Great breakfast for all!!! They have a huge breakfast menu. I've tried about 1/4 of the things on it and I haven't been disappointed once! I especially love the potato cakes!! The staff are all very friendly and energetic, even at 6am. Just be prepared to get a togo box. The portions are absolutely huge! It gets pretty busy on the weekends so if you have time, I suggest trying to go on the weekday morning. Also they do Togo orders all day. It's great because the bar stays open late and you can still get dinner Togo after the moan restaurant closes~~

Really enjoyed having brunch here today. We walked in with our morning Starbucks and were politely told by the waitress that we weren't allowed to have outsie food or drink. But, duh, not like you can hold it against them, they're just following their own rules. We both had bacon bloody Mary's that looked absolutely scrumptious, served with bacon (hence the name), a green olive and pepperoncini. After seeing the $7.50 price associated with it, I prepped myself to be disappointed, thinking it would be served in a tiny martini glass, but for the first time maybe ever, I thought the size and presentation of the cocktail was well worth the price. I had a meat lovers omelet with hashbrown and English muffin and it was cooked perfectly and served promptly. The atmosphere was really great too, definitely looks like this is the place to go for brunch! I wish I had caught our waitresses name because she definitely deserved a shout out. What a friendly personality, without being too overbearing and hovering over the table. I will definitely go here again!

We came in on a Saturday evening and it was fairly busy but we were quickly greeted and seated. To our surprise, we saw a 2 for 22 menu that includes an appetizer. The portions are huge, even the appetizer that we got which was the spinach artichoke dip with garlic bread. For the main courses, I got the spinach artichoke tortilleni and my fiance got the halibut burger. Our sons kids meal was even a big portion. It was excellent, food came out piping hot and we didnt have to wait long. Waitors/waitresses were very courteous, and we noticed on Tuesdays they were advertising 1.99 kids meals. We all had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. We definitely will be coming back.

We were in town for a few nights and ended up eating here twice. We really like this place. Breakfast is fabulous as is the salad bar. The staff is very attentive and super friendly. In the bar they have .75 happy hour tacos that were not too bad. We will always come back whenever we are in the area. The breakfast potato cake things are fabulous.

We had such a good time. My husband and I went out for dinner we always talk about going to Annette's but just haven't yet. Very clean, smelled good, quickly seated and drink order taken. My drunk never even made it to half empty before our waitress filled it up. I love not having to ask for refills our food was wonderful. We will definitely be back!!!!

This place does it right. Nothing is a forgotten detail. They do all the little things that make a restaurant stand apart. The service was top notch. We went for breakfast and it was great. Lots of fun choices. The salad bar looked like a winner. We'll have to come back and try it.

Three of us and three bad meals. I had the razor clams and oysters. The oysters were just ok. The razor clams were greasy and with mushy breading. One sister has the Fisherman Fettuccine. The fettuccine was way way overcooked to almost mush. One sister had Shepard Pie. I didn't try it, but it didn't look appetizing and she didn't like it. The clam chowder was the only thing worth eating at all. Just huge portions, they are definitely about quantity not quality. Not recommended at all.

Meh. I went in with my daughter at 3:00 on a Tuesday. They were slow, which isn't surprising given the time. Our server was sitting down and rolling silverware at the table next to us. I really thought this was tacky. Joined by another server and the manager, this was clearly not an issue for them. Food was decent, decor was cute. Overall did NOT live up to its expectation.

Came here for lunch on Super Bowl Sunday. I decided to get the Western BBQ burger with fries. It was okay, but they burned the patty to a crisp. The edges were almost hockey puck like. It was still edible because I like burgers well done but it was almost too much for me. However the cheese, and onion ring and bun made up for it. But it seems to me breakfast is their speciality because my sister got the Scooby Doo and it was HUGE and she thought it was excellent. Next time I am getting breakfast.

I come here for breakfast every year while catching up with friends over the holidays. This year, we went on Christmas Eve morning, we were seated right away. My friend and I ordered the hot chocolate and split a waffle with fresh strawberries with breakfast potatoes and bacon/sausage. The hot chocolate is awesome. I am not sure if it's homemade or from box, but I don't care, it's delicious. The servers are fantastic and they are ALWAYS good about letting us know the best way to order what we want. They did the egg and bacon add-on to the waffle and substituted the eggs with potatoes. Our food was yummy and was the perfect amount of food. They wanted us all to sing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" but not everyone in the restaurant wanted to. Nice try though!

Cute little place in West Salem. I haven't had a meal that lived up to the hype as of yet. Went in on Saturday morning with a group of 7. 4 ordered the Eggs Benedict and 3 of us ordered the biscuts and gravy. Eggs Benedict seemed to get an over all "ok", but the biscuts and gravy recieved a super-duper, two thumbs down. The biscuts were probably the driest I've ever had and were covered in a mound of luke warm gravy. The dish came with eggs and sausage. All three orders of eggs were cold. No check back from the server. Walked to the counter to finally ask for our bill. Probably won't eat here for a while.

We went for lunch. Friendly wait staff. Great service. Breakfast offered all day. Lunch options so so. Dessert yummy and made on site. Good price/value for mousse cup. Snag a seat outside if you can it is surprisingly quieter than we thought.

Took 45 minutes to get my biscuits and gravy. When they came out they were cold in the middle and there was a film of gravy on top, like it had just been sitting out. The staff is chipper, that's the only good thing.

We had salads. Sweet and spicy chicken and chicken, bacon, avocado. Huge portion of meat, bacon, etc. gave 4 stars instead of 5 because we would have liked more leaf lettuce, less iceberg. Still, great salad, good value and cozy place. The staff is soooooo friendly and attentive. Didn't have dessert but they looked incredible! Full bar, too.

Annette's is a true gem. Wonderful staff and plenty of them. Generous portions of well cooked homemade entries from a broad menu. Deserts are fabulous and deserve a visit if their own.

I've been here a handful of times... the first few times, the food was awesome, but it seems with the last few visits, it's gotten progressively worse! The service is awesome, but the food... not so much. The portions may be big, but the quality of food is sub-par and way too over-priced... I mean, if I'm gonna pay $14 for a meal, it better be damn good! The only dish I actually like and would go back for is the Meat Lovers Skillet (ham, bacon, sausage, lil smokies, Oktoberfest sausage scrambled with eggs and country potatoes, covered with cheese... Yummm), but I recently had the Cinnamon Roll french toast... I was soooo excited, a magical experience to be had... Major FAIL! It literally was a DRIED OUT cinnamon roll dipped in egg batter, cooked and then a handful of powdered sugar thrown on top... and don't get me started on the Ortega omelet... that dish alone almost ruined any future visits, but I decided to give it one more try... and was let down again! So, moral of this review is, if you've eaten here before and liked what you ordered, stick to what you know because you may find yourself one unsatisfied customer!

Meh, just ok. Went here for breakfast after seeing good reviews and got a veggie hash. To much cheese and it tasted a bit greasy.. We will give it a second try sometime, and I may edit the review at that time. Think next time we should try lunch. The staff was friendly, and service was good.

I came here because this was the only place in town that touted a "Monte Cristo Sandwich" on their menu. I was so disappointed when it arrived to my table as I barely recognized it as I was sadly brought back to life that I was still in Salem. This was clearly NOT a Monte Cristo but a very cheap imitation, if not even that. Annette must have had a sad nightmare of such a sandwich because I never saw anything quite like it before. I think she needs to go to culinary school.

A good, solid neighborhood restaurant. The white bean chicken chile was excellent! The spaghetti with meat source was very good. Superb coffee! Service was excellent. General ambience was excellent with the staff trying to please even the most difficult customers. I have been in the restaurant business 40 years and I can tell you this is a jewel of a place.......gourmet ,no......great food, great prices and a genuine warm welcome yes! I look forward to coming back to Annette's !

Annette's includes a highly inventive and diverse salad bar - including one ingredient (Lotus root) that I had to ask about. Breakfast and entree portions were huge and delicious. I had the Kingwood Grill, which ought to be named "The Carnivore's Delight." The tater tots accompanying it were nicely crisp and they easily accommodated my request for 1000 Island on the side. My wife had the Taco omlette and, like me, took about half of it home for later. The ambiance is dark, but a little too crowed to be intimate. The staff was very attentive to our needs - and refills. Despite it being quite a ways from home, I expect we'll be back.

The new boyfriend was determined to find a restaurant in Salem that I would really love. He hit the bullseye with this one. Annette's is a charming little spot with a great menu, though the prices are on the high side. Why are Salem restaurants so expensive? It was well worth the money though. I'm trying to avoid dairy due to allergies and was thrilled to see non-dairy creamer on the table for my coffee. We tried a cup of the clam chowder(I know, I know, broke my dairy rule) and it was superb: rich, creamy, decadent and full of clams. The boy and I split Annette's salad, which is basically a Chinese chicken salad with some candied nuts and dried cranberries added. We asked them to leave off the bleu cheese. It was super delicious and they were very generous with the toppings. I couldn't finish even half of the salad, it was that huge. You get a choice of bread and we chose the biscuit. Wowza, it was one terrific biscuit. I only ate half and my boyfriend said, "Well, it's hard to mess up Bisquick." I said, "no, this is a homemade biscuit, it's really, really good." We asked our server and I was right. Speaking of which, our server was fantastic, she was hilarious, fun and quick! We couldn't have had a more fun or delicious experience. If you're going to Salem, eat here!

I have been here once in the bar for brunch and several times in the restaurant with a client who would give this place more stars. I am unimpressed. After my multiple visits, the 'bottomless fries' were often super salty, the clam chowder is bland, and the salad bar is undesireable. However, the fried chicken platter is highly excellent, as well as the dessert variety. I will be back, but because of the food, against my preference. The ambiance is warm and trendy. The space is neatly decorated, and he staff is mostly friendly and efficient.

This go around was much better than last. I'm talking about the service. We were seated and helped right away. The food was wonderful as usual and the portion size was extreme. I had people laughing at the size of the "platter" my breakfast came on. Will come back

This is one of our go to breakfast or lunch places when in Oregon, but I'm not sure if it's because of the food or the location. The food is solid. It's not going to win any awards, but I've never had a bad meal here, and it's very reasonable. The salad bar is very small, but a really good value. It's a small Mom and Pop place that gets really crowded and loud sometimes, but the Mom & Pop ambience is part of the charm. If your in West Salem and are looking for a casual and reasonable place for breakfast or lunch, this is as good as you'll find. Btw, their pies are awesome.

This place never disappoints. We always eat in the bar because I like the no kids thing. The food is always spectacular and the service is amazing. You can tell all the folks at the bar are regulars and you get the feeling you are invading their space. So WHAT! I am still eating in the bar cause the food deals are amazing and the drinks are great.

I decided to give it one more go, and I have decided never to return. This joint it good for breakfast--there's no doubting that. But I don't eat breakfast and if I do, I do it at home. So why should I return? Feeling like a cow, I ordered the super big prime rib. Salad, veggies, and mashed potatoes were included. Also ordered that is of relevance, the hand breaded chicken strips. When the prime rib arrived I was immediately disappointed. Instead of the beautful, red, juicy, freshly-sliced-off-the-roast look, I got a hunk of obviously flat-top cooked, dry, tough meat. I cut into this atrocity and found, lo and behold, a dark red center--indicitive of being thrown on the flat top raw and cooked like a traditional steak. A few bites in, and I beckoned for the waitress. During this debacle, my man and I discovered that the steamed vegetables smelled and tasted like fish, or a fish tank. She aplogized profusely and gave me the "it's our most popular" mantra. I sent it back (even though I hate doing it) and they sent out the next size down, stating that it may have been like that because it was so thick. Uh-huh. Her explanation for the bad veggies? Apparently they're cooked with chicken stock. So the vegetables aren't vegetarian and there's no disclaimer? Nice. All I could think while I was sitting and waiting for my new piece of meat was the tender, fresh, and tasy filet mignon I could have gotten at DaVinci's for $3 less. Garh! Because I was using another restaurant.com certificate, the discount they offered me was useless. The waitress instead offered free dessert for each in the party but the dry cake and over-jellied cobbler did little to entice me to return.

Always on a search for good use of green chiles, I ordered a veggie Rajun Cajun burger ($8.99): a veggie patty seasoned with secret cajun spices, melted provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions, and their house sauce (mayonnaise, mustard, and a sweet relish), on a lightly toasted bun. It came with a dill pickle spear and one side (I got their cole slaw). I asked the server if they got fresh green chiles and roasted them in some capacity. To my dismay, they get the Ortega green chiles out of the can and pretty much put those on the burger instead. The search for a good green chile cheeseburger continues. The burger and the slaw were OK, but aside from the lovely cajun spices on the veggie patty, Annette's failed to set themselves apart from the rest of the pack. I may still try their breakfast items at a future date.

We came here for lunch today and you know, the crowd was not that bad at all, and the wait time was only 10 minutes. We chose to go with a late breakfast and the food was really good. The service was a little on the slow side, but very friendly. I would recommend this Cafe to my family and friends. We will be back.

Tried breakfast here the other day. Good food. I like the option of being able to sit outside. The Eggs Benedict were good. Portion size was not so much that it had to be taken home in a box. Just enough. Server was friendly and attentive. It was his second day. Will be back to try lunch soon.

Great teri burger. I even went back again for another one. And if you ask for the sweet potato fries to be cooked extra crispy, they will do it and you'll enjoy them, too.

Definitely go ! I went with my friend yesterday for a quick breakfast. Its in kind of a tricky part of west Salem and if you aren't familiar with the area it may be difficult to find. It's very nice inside and out and many folks choose to sit outdoors. I think the décor inside is nice and the seating arrangements are pretty well thought out. There are a lot of other business that share local parking with this place so if you see a full parking lot don't get spooked that the place will be too packed. When we went we sat ourselves and were met by a very friendly waitress. She made small talk and asked the typical " anything to drink other then water " ? She was also pushing mimosa's but it wasn't too pushy and to be frank a mimosa sounded pretty dang good right about then. Our coffee got there quick and the waitress was able to make some good recommendations to my friend who is a vegetarian. She seemed to know quite a bit about the menu and when she made her recommendation we genuinely trusted it. I ordered the " Meat lover's skillet " and she ordered some sort of " Vegetarian Eggs benedict " . She really enjoyed her plate and mine was good too ! I didn't know what to do with all the food ! My only complaint is I thought my meal was a little on the greasy side. There were about 100 of those hilshire farms little smokies in there and after eating about 5 of those anybody's full. Secondly the place is rather expensive. It's the demographic Im sure. Overall I would highly recommend this place especially for breakfast. The service is what really did it for me and the quality of food was pretty good also. I will definitely visit this place again.

I simply love this place. I usually frequent the lounge, so I know little of the dining area. Hubs and I eat dinner here occasionally and we have yet to be disappointed. Drinks are always great. On a busy night, the waitstaff can be a bit slow with food orders, but they're dead-on with drinks. (We are, after all, in the lounge...) Have never had anything here I didn't like. Done the salad bar when I fee like it - good times. Other times, I'd rather have the deep fried fabulousness from the kitchen. Have breakfast here about once a month. Solid breakfast, solid bloody mary. No complaints.

I was little impressed with this place. I had the veal parmesan for dinner and I could tell right away this was the product of frozen patties and tasteless marinara out of a jar or can in bulk form. It seemed to me that the business model here is large quantities of mediocre, out of the can/box/bag food. I would give them a 2 star if it weren't for the waitress that took care of me, as she did a really good job of being attentive.

Lana and I tried Annette's for supper. Although we cannot speak to breakfasts at Annette's as Sarah P did, we agree with her review to this extent: first, Annette's attracts a crowd and, second, it's an older crowd. That's not surprising: except for the full bar, Annette's is a traditional diner; it has been a fixture in West Salem for years; and the music is a big band sound, played softly. We ordered the "Two for Twenty" special -- that is, two entrees plus one appetizer or dessert for twenty dollars. When we received the dessert, we understood why one was enough for two: it was huge. The food was highly variable. Lana ordered the hot turkey sandwich with gravy and dressing and declared it excellent. But then, she had selected the restaurant as we drove past it. She has an uncanny ability to determine whether a restaurant is good or bad just by looking at it and, once inside, a related ability to order the best thing on the menu. I do not share Lana's eerie but valuable abilities. Oftimes, I do not even have sense enough to order as she does. This was one of those time. I ordered the Tuscan chicken. It had been recommended by the waitress, whose tastebuds must have been shot off in the war. Tuscans will be glad to know that I could discover nothing Tuscan about the chicken, which was old, dry and gamey. We also ordered two Spanish coffees, our favorite drink on cold winter nights. Or days, for that matter. However, here again, the quality was poor. No off flavor; rather, a lack of flavor. Then, the dessert: Marionberry cobbler with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. I've written that it was huge. It was also very good. In sum, we will go back. The coffee and the bartender may both be mediocrities, but there's always beer, which is hard to mix badly; and I'm fairly confident that the poor quality of the Tuscan chicken was an abberation, because I seriously doubt that Annette's is attracting its substantial clientele with below average fare.

We are foodies and love to have the "wow" factor. There is no wow dish at this place and I would only recommend breakfast plates. Salem really needs an over the top dish of some sort.. This place has potential, but may be too busy to go from good to great.

We stopped here for lunch today, and were pleasantly surprised at finding a great little place close to home. I ordered the Cool Ranch Wrap and my husband had the Reuben. The kids had giant mickey mouse shaped pancakes as big as their head, which made them extremely happy! I wasn't super hungry so I thought the wrap would be a nice, light meal. HA! It was enormous and chock full of juicy chicken, bacon and veggies. We also ordered the clam chowder, which was delicious. My husband ordered the Reuben and said he really enjoyed it. Their dessert display looked incredible. My kids were literally drooling over it! I would like to try a dessert next time I stop in. Our waitress was incredible. I wish I remembered her name, but she said she was going to be a grandmother soon. She was very attentive, especially to my little ones. I will definitely be back!

If you want breakfest, lunch, dinner or something sweet they have it! I love getting the omlettes, they are so BIG . So I ask for the half size (3 eggs) then it comes with toast,.and ur style.of potatoes. I recently discovered you can ask for fresh fruit instead.of potatoes. The omelet I get is vegetarian but I add bacon hehe .. Annets building is pretty big, they also have a bar (live music)and a room downstairs you can rent for parties. I did use the room downstairs for my sister in laws baby shower and it was really nice, private and they provide all chairs, table, silver wear and you can order food for party. Okay one more thing I love is the pictures on the wall! Its all of Salem, Or" back in the day" : )

The staff and clientele make Annette's one of the most comfortable places to meet and greet. The food is yumminess. I especially enjoy the breakfasts (served all day) The salad bar has a wide variety of items, and always fresh. They have a salmon dinner that is exceptional as well. Their catering service is excellent as well, with a banquet room available or at the venue of your choice.

My first visit was for breakfast last Friday. The place was slammed but our service was excellent. The food was solid all around. My haystack (hashbrowns, bacon, green bell peppers, onions and cheddar cheese) was outstanding and HUGE. Over easy eggs were perfectly prepared and the hashbrowns were the best I have had. Best breakfast I have had in Salem.

I was told this was a great restaurant. This review is only based on what I ordered. I asked if the chicken in the Cesar Salad could be switched out for tri-tip. "Sure," said the waitress, but it might be a few dollars more. I noticed their prime rib sandwich was about $13.99 and other steak items were about the same price. I figured the Chicken Cesar Salad was $12.99 and the "few dollars more, might bring it up to $14.99 or $15.99. To my surprise, the waitress charged me $12.99 for the Cesar Salad and and ADDITIONAL $12.99. Now come on now! That is price gouging and frankly the waitress should have come back and checked to see if an ADDITIONAL $12.99 was okay. The Cesar Salad was drenched in salad dressing similar to the Cesar Salad dressing you buy from Costco! It is my fault for not checking with the waitress, but I was busy visiting with my son. Wish I had because I would have said "no, not interested in a medium well tri-tip instead of a medium rare tri-tip upon salad drenched in bottled dressing. Think the waitress should have double checked with me. Would I go back? Probably, but I can't rely on the trustworthiness of waitress's words of a "few dollars more". :) She would have been more accurate to say, "we're going to charge you a ridiculous price." Not a four star, but the food is eatable.

I have enjoyed dining at Annettes for a few months now, and I can say that, overall, I have enjoyed the experience. Every time I have gone, the restaurant has been packed with people, and the service had been decent. (I don't mind waiting if I have good company and I am expecting good food.) Menu items I have enjoyed and can highly recommend are: Tully's coffee! Their cornbread is slightly sweet, slightly moist, a large portion and comes with butter. I had a delicious hamburger which comes with a sort of tempura battered jo-jo potatoes. Waffles with bananas and nuts (the waitress offered syrup which I declined, because when i ordered the nanners/nuts, I thought it was a wet topping, rather than sliced bananas and halved walnuts. The addition of they syrup pulled the dish together. Fish and Chips are classicly delicious. Triple chocolate cheesecake is DE-VINE! My neighbor and I went and the chicken fried steak wasn't wonderful, it came with potato pancakes which were a generous portion, and delicious. This is the only bad menu item I've tasted.
