We love going here!! Freshest Mexican food in town. Gilberto serves you personally and is so very friendly and thankful that you are in his establishment! Sometimes it may take a bit longer to get your food but it's well worth the wait!

Very poor food at high prices. Nobody was very happy with their meals. The beans look straight out of a can. Both beans and rice were plopped down on the plates with an ice cream scoop. Chile rolleno looked like a chicken patty. The cheese enchilada in tomatillo sauce at least was good, even if it wasn't green like I expected. The worst part was we were charged $4.95 for a side of rice (4 scoops)! Might be a good place to drink. A 22 oz mug of XX Dark was only $5, and imported bottles are only $3.25. The food came out quickly although it took a long time to get the check, and I had to pay inside because the waiter never came back. The staff was definitely friendly so that was the best part of the experience.

Rancid chips, inattentive service, salsa served way past its prime, and cheese laden faux Mexican platos de crap. What's not to love, save for everything? Worst thing ever.

Best nachos in town and great staff. Probably the best Mexican place in town. Cheaper than the Los Dos Amigos and has never gotten anybody sick.

I love this place. I don't get there often. It used to be called "Casa Baez". The restaurant and ownership has not changed. I recommend the Number one combination consisting of a taco, an enchilada, a chili relleno, chili verde and chili colorado, beans and rice. It costs about 16 bucks. It should be enough food for two days. It is served with homemade flour tortillas. I typically use the chili colorado and chili verde to make burritos for the road, since I cannot eat that much food any longer. Yeah, I am not 20 something anymore. They still carry Bohemia beer, which is nice.

The staff were polite. This place was very busy at lunch. The chips for the salsa were stale and greasy. The salsa was blan tasting as compared to similar places. The chicken tortilla soup was great and very flavorful. Overall I would not come back but for the money I could of done worse.

Terrible, terrible, terrible food. Mw wife and I went for late lunch/early dinner. The place was empty. Like other reviews, the chips were stale and greasy and the salsa was flavorless. Our food was worse than 99 cent frozen dinners from the market. No seasoning, no flavor, no care in preparation. The prices are outrageous even for good Mexican food. The service was slow and apathetic. Will never go back.

This has been our favorite of all the greater Roseburg Mexican restaurants for over 10 years. Having lived in Colorado & So Calf., traveling extensively in the southwestern states and Northern Mexico down to Mexico City, this is where we come back to month after month. Love the homemade tortillas and the Mexican gravy so much that we bring a container home each time. Go thru 3 bowls of salsa. Great service. Sorry that it is not to everyones taste.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent food! A bit pricy for the portion size, but they were yummy...

By far the worst Mexican meal we have ever had. Even my 10 year old thought so. The beef tamale had a weird beige gravy and the beef tasted like pot roast. The tamale itself had horrible flavor. I have never left so much food on my plate The refried beans were super dry, the chicken burrito was completely unremarkable and my kids beef quesadilla had a lot of shredded lettuce and tomato in it: not what normally comes in a kid's quesadilla. Yes, the salsa was fresh, but bland. 3 bright spots: the server was very nice, the beer came in a very large frosted mug and my son loved the Andes chocolate that came with the check. Ugh. Never again. If this is the best Douglas County has to offer, I hate to imagine what the worst is like.

Love this place! Everything I have ever ordered here has been delicious- from the Chile Rellenos, tostadas, enchiladas, tamales- even the Nachos are great! To top it off the homemade salsa is simple, fresh, and so tasty! You can always count on service with a smile- a family owned operation with people who care . I always look forward to eating at Gilberto's- an authentic touch of Mexico right in our own little town. Enjoy!

The best Mexican food in Douglas County, OR. hands down. They have a great selection and a majority of the food is fresh, natural, and home-made. The customer service is ALWAYS friendly and the prices are great! This is honestly one of my favorite restaurant of all time. Definitely recommended!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
