Pizza was decent, salad was very fresh. Price is average. I didn't like the fact that it is a cash only place. This is a tourist town and should take credit and debit cards. While they do have an ATM, there is a $2.50 charge. The night I went the ATM was broken!!! I did not have cash! The lady on the phone apparently didn't know this. This was incredibly inconvenient. I received my pizza trusting that I will return with the payment tomorrow. Of course I will, but it is even more inconvenient that I have to go elsewhere to get cash and go back again to pay. Beware if you don't carry cash!!

I love this place. I admit they're a little overpriced, but that's because it's a mom and pop type place, not a chain restaurant. The owners are great people. Their food is delicious. I make it a point to get their pizza every time I go to the coast.

Extremely over priced, for flavorless pizza. Not to mention it's only open 4pm-8pm -_- you'd be better off driving 15 to Fred Meyer and getting a froze pizza.

haven't had pizza this good outside of NYC where i grew up. the owner lady is so sweet and they have great gluten free and vegan options. was so sad tonight when i realized theyre closed mondays :( great thing to do after spending the evening using my metal detector with my girlfriend!

The pesto garlic hearth bread is the main goal here. The pizza is nice too. The sauce tastes homemade, just the right amount of herbs and tomato chunks. Their pepperoni is perfectly spicy. The crust is rather dense and bland though. I love the mom and pop places and everyone is so friendly. They have a nice clean eat in area and some old school game. Bring cash!

Great little pizza place on Rockaway Beach! Their pizza is homemade and made fresh! The staff was very friendly as well. You could tell they love what they do. My reasons for not giving a 5 star rating are few. For one, their decor is something to be desired. A wall of plates here, a taxidermy there....it looks a little scattered. I also wasn't a fan of their chairs. They reminded me of uncomfortable plastic patio chairs better suited for a backyard BBQ than in an Italian restaurant. Remember to bring cash. This establishment does not accept cards or checks but they are accommodating and have an ATM available if needed. Overall, great food and friendly staff. We will definitely be back!

I live in Rockaway Beach, and I'd like to report that the pricing is fair, the food is superb, and the service is terrific ...... but none of that is true. I paid $25 for a medium pizza, waited an hour, paid $2.50 to their atm, and found the pizza to be average, at best. I guess they can survive on overcharging tourists, this is one local guy who won't be back.

After a day exploring up and down the coast, pizza sounded like just the thing, so we stopped in here. It's a little divey, but the staff was nice, and it wasn't busy. We ordered a couple of pizzas and a salad, paid cash (a little surprising in this day and age, but they have an ATM), and took a seat. Our salad was out immediately, but the pizzas took over an hour - a fact which we were not warned about at all. In the end, the pizza was good enough that we'd probably go here again, but we'd definitely order in advance to avoid the wait.

Excellent pizza and great customer service. The Greek pizza is awesome, as is the carnivore.

Amazing pizza any time we come to the beach we have to come here. Husband and wife ran she come in everyday to tear apart salad in stead of buying the already chopped salad . Very fresh and yummy. Great pizza too

Very good, quality handmade pizza. Super sweet service. Dinner salad was fresh and very large, easily fed three of us. Completely reasonable prices (we're from Seattle, where everything is overpriced!) Convenient to my hotel and a yummy eat after a long day on the beach. I called in my order, they gave me a time estimate of 30 minutes and it was hot and ready when I arrived. They told me their cash policy in advance so I came prepared. Ultimately I was sad to see that they are selling the place after 23 years of obviously very loving service to their community.

We loved the pizza here. Ordered take out because of the previous reviews and pizza was ready in 25 mins. Could have eaten in - seating was not overcrowded. Best part according to the group of teens was that the pizza was even better the next day cold out of the fridge. "Best cold pizza I've ever had!" According to teens. Loved the staff - especially the owner. She was incredibly sweet. Will go back next time in town.

This place is way overpriced for the pizza you get...My girlfriend and I tried this place because nothing else was open and we really didn't care how much it was at the time but looking back on it, we are baffled on how anyone could justify the $$$. The dough was so heavy and dense...the toppings were nothing special but I guess it was something rather than nothing.

Delicious pizza served by really genuinely nice staff. I'm back in Portland now and craving their pizza if that's any indication of how good it is.

Many years ago I used to go to Upper Crust but that all ended when my husband and I went vegan. Now they have vegan cheese, so we went last night. Pizza tasted even better than it did in the "old days". Someday I hope to see a marinated tempeh, Sorta Sausage, or some other protein on the menu. For now, I'm very happy to be able to enjoy pizza on our trips to Rockaway. Way to go Upper Crust.

Fair notice given at the order area, it will take a while to cook the Pizza! It isn't fast food, its great food! After waiting a long time to get our 2 pizzas, we were thrilled with the results. The pizzas were perfect, made how we asked, and piping hot when served. Prices are higher than chain delivery places but at the coast this was a great stop. The people here were so nice, and friendly!! Only 1 beer on tap, but had decent microbrews. Give it a shot!

his place that is more than likely still perpetually stuck in the 90's. 4 stars alone for the fact that I ate this mediocre pizza so many times while staying out in Rockaway Beach when I lived in Oregon. It's just one of those places that's close to my heart. Although I don't think you will find any actual pizza that's going to compare with the best you've had. Overall- it's a nice little jaunt and I look past its flaws.

Doesn't deserve a star, 2 out of 6 of us got sick. Super slow service and not friendly at all.

Pizza is okay, totally devoid of any salt, bring cash, add 30 minutes to any wait time they tell you or call before going into pickup. Be amazed at all the "No" and negative signs posted around the place. Want the Best pizza in Rockaway- Barview Jetty, they bake or you bake. Take it from a 12 year weekender.

This place is pretty cool. There is a nice big play structure, plenty of seating and a few other activities for the little ones to enjoy. There is Pizza and sodas available as well. Coll place for a birthday party or just to take the kids out for a fun time on the weekend.

Still dreaming about their Hearth Bread from when I lived in the area in 2004! I could eat an entire order of that in one sitting. Upper Crust is definitely trashy but they were the only pizza joint I could find in Oregon that actually knew how to make pizza like we do back east...

We had the worse experience ever last Saturday night trying to go to a family dinner for our daughters birthday. She wanted pizza so we went to Upper Crust. Having never been there we did not know what to expect. It cost us $80 for two pizzas and beverages for six,a bit spendy. Our order was placed at 7:25. Almost an hour later the server stopped by the table and asked my husband how we were doing. He told her that we still haven't gotten our pizza and her reply was that the order was turned in. After a while longer I went to the counter and said we have been there almost an hour and a half and we just want our money back. We had inquired about our pizzas several times and been checked on with still no food, only being assured our order was turned in. Nobody told us through this whole ordeal that there would be a considerable wait. I was told Mary would be right with me. It was several minutes before I went and sat back down because no one ever came out. Eventually the woman came out and rudely informed us she was not going to be out those pizzas, they were already cooking and she asked if we wanted them to go or for there. We told her we were not informed of any wait, been there for over an hour, wanted our money back and wanted to go. She again was very rude and suggested we call ahead next time. When we said there would not be a next time she stated that they were just fine with their regular business and that was fine. From the start the woman did not respect or appreciate our business, our time or us. She stated our pizzas would be out in eight minutes. The table that got there a while after us got their pizzas and then we got our pizzas after ten minutes. We finally go them at 8:59. No apology, no discount, nothing but a very rude disrespectful owner that obviously does not care about the customer. We left there disappointed about the wait, but the thing that really irritated us was the way that woman treated us.

Some of the best pizza I've ever had and very friendly. Was really glad to see gluten-free crust on the menu but wish it came in more sizes. The wait was decent for it being during summer in a tourist town but it was worth the wait. It was a little pricey for pizza though.

The price for what you get is outrageous! The pizza order was wrong, I ordered the Halibut plater is was three mid sized paces of fish that were baked from frozen not fried fresh and that was $15. The staff was rude and service was very very slow, it took 90 minutes to get one small pizza and two fish platers the one beer that we ordered took well over a half hour to make it to our table. This restaurant operates in cash only and the ATM that they have was A. broken and B. had an astronomical use fee. This place might be good for take-out if you order well ahead, but for your own sanity don't go in for a sit down meal.

The pizza took almost an hour and it was just like I remember - from high school. Save your money and your time from this tourist trap.

We have eaten here a number of times over the years. Ive always thought the owner lady is super nice (almost too nice), its way slow, too bad they only take cash, it is a little expensive and the pizza is ok. Eating in in the past has gone better. Tonight we phoned in at 7:15 to be told it was at least a 40 minute wait, and that they would call us when they were putting our pizza in the oven. Hmm good thing we had a big lunch and werent that hungry. We orfered a medium barbecue chicken and a medium pesto veggie. Cost? About $42.Really? ouch. They called at 8:30 and hubby and BIL went to get them.An hour plus for pickup pizza is a long tIme. If they were right out of the oven I expected them to be bubbly and delicious. They really, sadly, werent. My daughter wouldnt touch hers and she loves pizza in most forms. I don't think we will go back, nice lady or not. Too bad.

Small restaurant, but family friendly. Good food and nice people. They don't take credit cards, which is a little inconvenient. But not a big deal. Overall a half place to go with family.

  • Michelle C.

Salad was huge and pizza great. We only had a half cheese and half pepperoni with our kids and I wished we had ordered something less plain for the adults because I am sure it would have been great. Service was genuine and great. Be prepared though as they only take cash.

My girlfriend and I stay in Rockaway every few weeks at the beach house. One night a few months back I had a hankering for pizza and decided to check this place out. My girlfriend's family have been coming here for years and seem pretty loyal to this place. When I came here it was during the Winter months, and their hours had been cut back pretty slim since tourism is down during this time, makes sense, but mildly inconvenient. I walked in and ordered a to-go pizza and they informed me it would be a few minutes. It was slow inside around 4pm, and I think they had just opened. It was immediately apparent this was a family business. The husband was tending the register, the wife and son were in the back making the pies. The guy that took my order was super duper nice and chatted with me about fishing while I waited for my pizza. Really great people and service! The pie came out fresh with loads of veggies and meat. It was a delicious pizza! They definitely don't skimp on the toppings here, but you end up paying for it. The pies here are quite pricey, almost to the degree that it hurts, but hey, it's Rockaway Beach and you wont find a better pie for miles. This place seems like it would have a good vibe during the busy months, maybe to catch a game, or relax after a summer day at the beach. I'll be back this summer to give it another shot, and another one of my paychecks;) If this place lightened up just a tad on the prices, and maybe brought in a crowd to open earlier during the winter by advertising football games, karaoke, etc., it'd definitely have 5 stars right off the bat!

Incredibly slow. Nearly an hour wait for one pizza & one hearth bread. That said, both were quite tasty. Only eat here if you have LOTS of time on your hands.

Visited Upper Crust on our recent trip to Rockaway Beach. After reading reviews about the wait, we ordered pizza to go and brought it back to our hotel. The pizza was ready in 25 minutes, right when they said it would be. The price was reasonable. Overall, I just thought the pizza was OK. The crust was a bit different, not bad, I just didn't care for it as much as other pizza that I have had. Overall though, if I were in Rockaway again, I would get their pizza again(to go) as a quick family meal without having to pay for a dinner out.

We've gotten Pizza here twice. The first time I thought it was spectacular, the second time I thought it was mediocre. It's a bit expensive for what it is, but it's not like you've got a lot of options in Rockaway.

I ordered some pizzas and hearth bread over the phone and was very impressed with the friendliness of the woman that took my order. I ordered three pizzas and a large hearth bread. They were ready to pick up in a very reasonable amount of time and they were all delicious. We had the pesto vegetarian, peperoni and a Hawaiian. Super good food and super service!

Really wanted to do 2.5 but we all know that Yelp doesn't allow half stars. This quaint pizza joint was the only of its kind within 20 miles or so and right near the condo we were staying in so on our last night we decided to eat some quick, easy, and oh so familiar pizza. Ordered a small pepperoni and pineapple pizza to go. Bill came to about 11 dollars which I thoguht was a tad expensive but didn't really mind. As I sat there waiting for 20 mins I noticed a sign that stated their pizza took longer because it was hand made and what basically amounted to them putiing in more effort therefore it too longer. The staff was nice and allowed me inspect my pizza upon departure. I was whole heartedly wished a good night and was on my way. As I sunk my teeth into the pizza I thoguht the sauce too sweet and would compare the dough to your average pizza hut or dominos. It tasted OK but not speclacular...not worth 11 dollars and the 20 min wait. I guess I expected more given the exceptional quality advertised by the restaurant staff. Next time I will just go to Larry's Market down the road and get a frozen one for cheaper.

Don't be distracted by those naysayers. Upper Crust is easily one of the top two pizzas in Oregon. The Pizza Factory in Lebanon might have slightly better crust but Upper Crust definitely has better ingredients. And better decor! The staff is warm and wonderful. But they don't take American Express. Or any other credit or debit card. Bring cash or use the handy in-house ATM. We stop the first night every time we go to the beach. I bring pie home for family members that couldn't make it that trip. I've eaten pizza all throughout this state and this country. I spent five years as a pizza chef in the best (at the time) pizza restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. So believe me when I say "Do not drive by without buying a pie." 80)

We ordered pizza during our weekend stay and their pepperoni pizza was pretty good...not the best but not too shabby. Can't really talk about the ambience since we ordered take-out.

I have been going to this place for years. Lots of choices to chose from. The crust is amazing. I am not a huge fan of their red sauce, but their white sauce is awesome. Creamy and garlicy, but not over the top. Try their chicken ranch pizza. bacon, chicken, garlic, onions.......need I say more? There is only one bathroom. They serve beer and wine, some on tap. They keep funky hours and are closed on different days of the week depending on seasons so make sure you call first. Make sure you have cash on hand. Last time we were there, they were a cash only business.

Boy oh boy. I never write reviews. Do not waste your time, drive down south to Tillamook or up north somwhere else. Wife and our two boys stopped in at 7:10pm on a Monday night. First we had to get cash out of their $2.50 charged ATM machine, no big deal really. I understand that merchant credit card compaines get it coming and going as business owners have to pay them 4% as well. Seems to be the thing in small towns, just bring cash. Using cash machine I hear someone answer the phone as you can tell someone was checking on their pizza take out order. They don't deliver and so I'm thinking it might be so slow that the locals know to wait make sure it's ready to be picked up. The person told them another 20 mins. Hmmm. The people sitting up front looked pissed off, I didn't know quite why yet. The place looks like a pizza parlor, no problem there. The best part were the old school coin op video games. You can pick any of the old Ms. Pac Man's, Donkey Kongs and for 1 quarter you get to play a 2 player game. We ordered our pizza up front, received our table number thingy to put on the table and I started playing games with my kids. I was having fun and didn't realize the time. I sat back down with my wife and we just realized it's been 45 mins we've been waiting to receive our order. We didn't even get our funky pesto bread appetizer yet. Looking around I can see two other tables and I know they were there in front of us and they haven't received there's either, they looked pissed off. At almost an hour since we ordered one of the ladies started pulling chairs from the unseated tables and started stacking them, basically started getting some of her closing chores done and they didn't close for another hour!! This really pissed off of. There were three tables, including ours, where we were waiting for an hour and instead of this lady going in the kitchen to help out an idiotic kitchen staff she's out there with us putting chairs by us. I get up and look in the kitchen, they had three dudes in the kitchen!! Come on! I and this other table started chattin and we both worked in pizza parlors. It takes 5 mins to prep a pizza and takes another 10 to cook it. Even if slammed you might double that to 30 mins. This lady out front heard us and she says "well it is the only pizza place in town and there are a lot of call-in orders"..what a biatch indeed. You move up the in-house orders a bit you twit!! They weren't that busy, their phone wasn't ringing off the hook. Anyways, our bread pesto thing finally came first, it was okay. Then our combination pizza finally came to our table. Sucked big time. The crust was 'wafer thing' on the bottom or seemed like cardboard but the inside of the crust was a bit doughy but really just had no flavor at all. The sauce was store bought it seemed. No seasoning on the meat on the pizza. Even if I didn't have to wait for 1 hour and 10 mins for a pizza I still would have been terribly dissapointed. I think to many of the folks in that place are on prozac, they just didn't get it at all.

I'm with the rest of the crowd in terms of wondering why it takes so long to make pizza that isn't tons better than the corporate owned pizza places. It was tasty but 1 hour to wait for pizza to be done is a little much. It isn't a big restaurant and I imagine the amount of business for this cozy beach town overwhelms the kitchen with orders. I do admit that they posted a sign at the counter warning tourists like myself 'if waiting isn't your thing than this isn't the place for you.' which I found at least courteous and upfront. It was convenient to our condo and I wasn't about to drive anywhere after arriving earlier in the day from several hours of driving from Washington. My wife and child liked the pizza so that's a plus as well. Try it but plan ahead for the wait time. They will call you when your pizza is going in the oven as they don't deliver. Cash only joint as well with an ATM on premise.
