I can't believe anyone would think the food here was good ! I just had a meatloaf dinner with NO flavor. Canned green beans, canned gravy, instant potatoes, and a big slab of flavorless 'meatloaf '. And to top it off the service was off. Better off going to Shari's on 122 nd

Tried out Uncle Vinny's tonight with the roomie because The Wooden Chicken next door was packed for a football game. I'm so glad we did! I got the "mini" calzone..it was huge! You can get as many toppings as you want inside the calzone. Only $11. Came home with leftovers enough for another large meal that I'm really looking forward to eating! Beer options were somewhat limited compared to most places in the Pacific Northwest. No long list of microbrews, but a few solid choices. No complaints about the service. The waitress wasn't overly warm, but she did her job well. Got the food pretty quickly given that the place was full--I guess that's not saying much since it's a small joint? Would definitely eat there again and recommend it to friends.

Extensive menu but they don't have everything they list. Both my wife's and my final selection were tasty but a little over priced for what we got. My problem was the waitress had a problem making change. She shorted me and then disappeared. I had to get up and find her and after some discussion got the correct amount. I don't like a hassle at dinner so I won't go back.

One of the best Turkey sandwiches in town! Beautiful Focaccia bread.

Let's see: Drive thru service: Check. Stromboli: Check. Mountainous deluxe: Check! Health food, it is not. Yo, this is Uncle Vinny's, remembuh? One large combo deluxe will leave at least 6 adults STUFFED. Very good value! Amid all the greasy little pepperoni slices, a free referral to a local cardiologist for every group order over $50! ;p Only gripe: I phoned ahead more than once to pick up an order, and they obviously hadn't even started on it when I got there, even though I got there no sooner than they told me to on the phone. The calzone is good too, but only for paisanos who don't realize there's stromboli on the menu! Holy mackarel, that is a friggin' meal and a half!

It's places like this that make Portland such a fun place to visit. I was looking for a quick bite to eat near my hotel but did not want to eat some franchise garbage. I was driving by and saw a sign proclaiming this establishment. Uncle Vinnies. Inside was surprisingly simple, small and clean. About a dozen tables, a tiny bar, a few TV sets and apparently there is space set aside for Keno up front. Walls have all sorts of kitschky signs, kind of what franchises like Applebee's or Cracker Barrel tries to do but fall short in the the originality category. Signs were definitely a source of amusement. Service was very prompt. Waitress was old enough be my grandmother but very nice and friendly. I heard that people in Portland take their breakfast pretty seriously and the menu showed it. Two pages dedicated to breakfasts and sides. They also have sandwiches, dinners, fried fish and pizza. I went with the pizza option as that is what I felt like that night. Ordered a 13 inch Vinnies Special which had Pepperoni, Sausage, Cheese, Olives, Onions and Green Peppers. The pizza was average, reminded me of Papa John's except more cheese and the sauce isn't as sweet. They had the right amount of toppings, nothing was overwhelming. The place was just very low key and relaxing, I could see making a regular stop here. Before I leave town, I will definitely have to try the breakfast, Stay tuned for an update.

This restaurant is close to the office so I go here from time to time. About a year ago I arrived with two friends, took a seat and waited about ten minutes just to see the waitress walk past us and take orders for two other tables (who arrived after we did). Reflagged her down finally and asked to order. She came back after another ten minutes, set water down then left again. We waited a few minutes more being ignored the while time. Finally we got up and left. Flash forward to last week. I thought I would give it another try. Same waitress, same lack of service. I was amazed that she still has a job. There was only one other table with people eating this time but the waitress was too busy watching TV.... Yes, watching TV to help us. So disrespectful, so annoying. It really is a shame. Their food is very good and the prices are reasonable but because of the service they have lost all the business from our office. It was very convenient for us so everyone used to go here a lot. Not anymore. Wish they'd get it together but apparently they don't care.

Probably the best turkey sandwich I've had. Kind of a grungy old place but great lunch

Vinny's is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. Vinny's has good maybe not great food, but I usually have lunch here once a month. I love the friendly atmosphere and staff. My favorite dish is the pork sliders. The meat is tender and moist. The sauce is delicious. Vinny's is usually packed at lunch so get there early.

Uncle Vinny's is awesome! I love a classic pepperoni pizza, but I rarely find anyone that can make one right. I think uncle Vinny's came to the rescue! They have such a classic taste that makes you think, "this is how a pizza should taste". A comfortable, clean, and fun atmosphere with good pie? Sounds like a win to me.

This is a bar with some food available, not a restaurant. I wanted to like this place, but when the local hotel pointed us here for a weekend breakfast, we were turned away at the door. No kids permitted anywhere on premises. The neighbors say the pizza's ok, but if Uncle Vinnie's can't be bothered to separate the bar from restaurant seating, it really doesn't matter. There's too much other good stuff in the area to bother. Maybe if your idea of a good breakfast is some bread sticks and a pitcher of Bud Lite at 9am, this is your place.

We've been in a handful of times. Good food, pizza is awesome. Don't expect gourmet, as its a more 'down home' atmosphere. Recently we've seen new staff, so hopefully the service issues others have mention are resolved? No minors inside, so leave the kids at home!

Best turkey sandwiches ever. This is our favorite place after shopping at Costco. So nice to sit and relax.

Extremely disappointed. This cozy place has the potential to be a quiet "go to" restaurant close to home. Instead each time I have visited Uncle Vinnie's, the waitress (I've only ever seen one lady working)has been as bland as the food they serve. Last visit, my boyfriend and I waited a half hour for our check, before we decided to go up front and deal with it ourselves. If you are bothered by inattentive food servers....i wouldn't bother spending your money here.

What this place lacks in service it makes up for in food. The taco salad is really good as is the build your own calzone. The calzone is huuuuuuge and could easily feed two hungry people and have room to take some home. I think they purport to have the best burger and fries. While I don't remember the Burger, the fries weren't bad. Though this place has the feel of a bar, they close at 9 and take those hours pretty seriously. I think we came for dinner one night at 8:30 and they were practically vacuuming under our feet. Though I have been here a bunch of times I don't rank as a regular yet. I think that is reserved for the seniors who can regularly be seen here who live in Argay Terrace also. What's 2 years on 30+?

Nice little local place. Very clean and neat. There are TVs and they sell lottery tickets if you are into that. I like their sandwiches - try the half turkey. It's big enough for one person. The Reuben is also tasty. We got them to go and enjoyed. Breakfast was average. Eggs over medium were perfectly cooked and the link sausage was extra good, but the wheat toast was kind of like white bread dyed brown and the hash browns tasteless and lackluster.

So sorry to have lost the wonderful little lady Bev that worked weekdays there - miss her SOO much!! Not the same without her.......and incidentally what happened to her cute little twin sister that used to work Saturdays?!?! Not worth going in there anymore!

We have eaten here on several occasions. It's either hit or miss. We had breakfast and both my wife and I asked for over easy eggs. They were cooked entirely through. Hash browns are always luke warm. The toast was over cooked. We've decided this has happened too many times and will not go back for breakfast ever again.

By far one of the best Calzones I have ever eaten. Everytime that I am in Portland I stop to have one and a beer. Delicious and highly recommend this place. Next time venture to East Side...and give it a shot.

My husband and I just moved to the neighborhood in September and read all the good things about Uncle Vinny's. While taking a break from shopping for a refrigerator, we decided to stop there for a late lunch. The place had just a couple of customers, a difference from the usually packed parking lot that I drive by on my way home in the evening. Once inside, I felt right away this was a place I could like: cozy dining area with a bar (with hooks attached under the counter to hang your purse or coat!), a couple of tvs for sports (or the Food Network!) and lots of memorabilia on the walls. There was one server on staff and she was wonderful, prompt, and personable. My hubby ordered a meaty 16" pizza (meant all for himself) and I ordered the Original Reuben Sandwich with fries and a pint of Alchemy Ale. She forgot about his RC Cola until the food arrived, but he didn't mind as he had some water to sip on. The pizza had a nice thick crust and lots of cheese - he could only get through a little over half consumed. I was amazed at how thick the Reuben was! Three slices of marbled rye and plenty of corned beef, gooey cheese, and sauerkraut. I especially liked how the Thousand Island sauce came in a cup on the side so I could taste the Reuben with and without it. That sandwich was delicious, piping hot, and very filling. I had half of it remaining and was happy to have it for dinner later. Uncle Vinny's is definitely going to be a regular eat out spot for us. It is so nice to have a good local pizza place nearby since on our moving day I called Round Table on 122nd (just 2 mins from Uncle Vinny's) and was told we were outside their delivery range! For the amount of pizza and the price, I would happily drive the 4-5 mins to pick up my order!

Been going here for the last couple years and it was always excellent. Lately though the food has been poorly prepared and the last time I went for breakfast the bacon on my plate was discolored and rancid tasting. I won't be going back in the foreseeable future

Uncle Vinny's is surprising - its actually a pretty decent neighborhood diner/pizza place. It is primarily a lotto lounge, so if you are looking for fine dining and meticulous service, its not for you. They do have good breakfast (strong coffee too), and the pizza is certainly better than your average sports bar's. Very clean inside and staff is friendly. Not a place to impress a first date, but good for us old boring married couples.
