First time trying Rovente on National Pizza Day when I sadly found out Babydoll was closed on Mondays. Delivery was fast, ~30-45 mins, and pizza came pipping hot. Their pie is like a NY/Philly hybrid. It's not thin enough to be NY style and it's pretty cheesy, but delicious. It leans on the slightly greasier side. Was glad to have another delivery option in the area for when I'm feeling some cheesy pizza rather than the classier NY style of Babydoll.

Hands down best pizza for the best price. I have eaten here tons of times over the past two years and have never been disappointed. No matter the various parts of town I've lived in, i will always happily drive to get pizza from this joint.

Take a Hawthorne trip, rock it through the Pizzeria Around the waist an extra notch in the belt Rovente Contadino, Rovente Carnivore Pesto Extravaganza, without meat without cheese Rovente Contadino, Rovente Carnivore Cheese if you please, without anything but Formaggio B-52's if you want to

I just got some of this pizza delivered it was very very good the Rovente vegetarian is fantastic load it with spinach, artichoke hearts red onion& Roma tomatoes. it was really really good and the delivery was timely.the sauce on the pizza is very tasty also, it really brings out the flavor of the fresh vegetables. I enjoyed it very much.since this is my first time Trying this establishment I can't give it four or five stars I must go in there and sit down and try my luck on the inside also but the way it's shaping up it seems that this rating will definitely climb. I'll be back very soon

We have been living in Southeast for the past two years, and we never ordered a Rovente's pizza until only a few weeks ago. I must say, we were pleasantly surprised. In fact we have ordered pizza from there two times since. The overall quality of the pizza isn't anything to write home about but it isn't bad either. There are three reasons why we keep going back and why I think Rovente's is a solid 4-star joint. First, they get their pizzas out fast, 10-15 minutes top. Second, the outside seating is nicely shaded and right on Hawthorne Blvd. Lastly, the prices are reasonable. $12.99 for an XL cheese and toppings are only $1 apiece (plenty to choose from). In summary, Rovente's has good value for the cost which makes it the ideal pizza choice if you don't have time or money to go to a fancier pizza joint but don't want to settle for gross pizza like PJ's or Domino's.

My husband wanted to go on a pizza binge. He wanted to have pizza EVERY DAY for a WEEK. So, we did. This is our 2nd to last day of the week. BEST pizza place we've been to and we've been to 6 other places. The perfect amount of sauce, great crust, cheap as all hell. Will forever be coming here!

We came in here after searching for a pizza place that would make a pizza with green olives. I know this seems goofy, but we tried a few places and it was a no go. We were also walking about after an afternoon of day drinks on the patio so were a little silly. These guys made us an amazing pizza (I'd say it was like a NY or Philly pie but I am not gonna navel gaze the basics here - it is Pizza!) and alerted us to the special (we got free wings). We were so excited that my GF gave these guys a $20 tip on a $20 order! That was all her. You guys rock. Thanks.

Best deal for a cheese pie in Portland. They have a decent taste, and for 12.99, you can't go wrong. You will not find a better value anywhere. The normal pies are good too, but not insanely good. I am from NY, and they are in my short list of places in Portland that do well enough for me to order from there. Great specials as well. Check the website for the current deals. I saved a bunch of money this way. Haven't tried any sides.

It's good pizza! I call it Buffalo style because it's not too thin like NY pizza and it's not too thick like Chicago pizza; it's half way between. Really good pepperoni, too.

Ordered take out here. The pizza was hot, fresh and delicious! Will definitely come back again.

This is my first yelp review, and I created an account because my experience with Roventes was so pointlessly bad. I ordered a pizza at 9:30 on Sunday night, and was told it would be there in less then 45 minutes. I called back around 1040 and asked what was going on, and they said it wasn't even out of the oven yet. When it was finally delivered at 11:10, more than an hour and a half after I ordered it, the crust was under cooked, the pizza was bland, and the toppings were sparse. There's simply no reason to order from this place when Portland has much better pizza options. Do yourself a favor and order from Sizzle Pie, Hot Lips, Pizzacato, anywhere other then here.

Hey listen, The pizza was GREAT! Even my two 8 years old loved the meat pizza which has never happened before at other pizza shops, they usually only want cheese pizza. On top of that (no pun intended) ,Simon, one of their delivery guys brought pizza and also lent a hand to us as we were moving out of our home!!! He really went above and beyond and reminded me of why I love the folks in Portland so much..they are nice people:) Thanks Roventes, you do a great job and we will be back for your yummy pizza and exceptional service!

Really?? 3$ per extra topping?? That's pretty freaking silly. Decent pizza tho. Still, I changed my mind on getting a pizza tonight specifically for the 3$ per topping. Papa Murphy's anyone?

Great value pizza for late night debauchery- better pizza for regular hours. Pricing and delivery adequate - close to 4 stars

This place brings it right back home to what feels like a classic greaseball NYC pizzeria. It's not flashy, gimmicky, or try-hard. Just tasty, greasy pizza with lots of cheese, delicious crust and tasty sauce. Get a punch card because your 11th slice tastes that much better when it's free-fiddy-free.

  • Pete H.

Rovente had some of the best "buy by the slice" I've had in Portland in awhile. A few weeks ago, I stopped in relatively late at night and they had just run out of pepperoni. But they tossed some pepperoni on a couple cheese pizza slices for me and slid them under the broiler for a few minutes and voila! Instant pepperoni slices. Hot, fresh and the crust was bangin'. It's pizza magic! It is a tiny space here. Only a few chairs available. But who cares? This is really a takeout or delivery kind of place. *Side note-you can also get Mexican cokes here. Nice.

    (4)
  • Pete E.

The first time I came here the pizza was awful. I decided to give it another shot, and I've gotta say, the pizza was infinitely better this time around. My slices were perfectly crispy on the bottom, and the flavors were so much better. I don't know what happened last time. I'd be willing to give this place 4 stars, but consistency is important to me. If the pizza is just as good next time, I'll definitely be upping my rating.

  • Alyssa C.

Only 1.5 stars on average - Yikes! And no photos which leads me to believe no one has been inspired to Instagram a photo of their mediocre pizza! Uh oh! I agree with other reviews here that the customer service is great and pizza can be ready quick. The problem here is that there are so many places to get AWESOME pizza in PDX and the fact is this is really no better than Dominos or some other generic chain, and it's way more expensive. Hopefully someone at Rovente will read these reviews and adjust their business plan - either lower your prices and offer the same mediocre pizza or step up to compete with the big boys that have delicious pizza at your same prices. Food for thought. Pizza for thought? Maybe.

Good pizza, not a fan of a 2 dollar delivery charge, though.

Had two slices, one pepperoni one cheese, while the crust was crispy, the pizza lacked flavor and no better than Pizza Hut. Prices ok, portion size good . Thought the sauce could have been better

The pizza was awesome. I was nice and stuffed. I will be stopping by whenever I am in the area. The service was great, staff is friendly, pizza was made fast and well. Great little pizzeria.

Awesome pizza, amazing prices and super friendly staff. One slice is the size of 2 from a chain pizza place. Thin crust, just enough grease, and perfect plump crust!

Why so much negativity?? We've been ordering from this place for years and we're never disappointed. Never. The Mexican fiesta is good but the pizza margarita is soooo good.... Tomato, basil and mozzarella... No better combo than that for my taste buds. They're always really fast too! They say "45 minutes" but usually it's closer to 20-30 minutes. Nice employees too. Stop being so negative portland.

Absolute ZERO! I live three blocks from Rovente and would frequent this place if it weren't for the hot-and-cold reviews. But tonight it was the most convenient answer to the family's cry for pizza, so I hiked to get a pie. I ordered a simple pepperoni pizza with no cheese on half and went outside to have a soda and wait. Ten or so minutes later I went back in to get my pie hot out of the oven and hustle it home to the kids. After a few minutes of small talk with the guys behind the counter, one asked me if I wanted extra cheese on the side with no sauce. This triggering my realization that he was just then making up my pie, and botching the order at that. "We've been *really* busy," he said in response to my asking, "Wait -- you're just *now* making my pie?!" I guess so...too busy for my business. I can't comment on how good their pizza is; I walked out in frustration, empty-handed. But I'll tell you, the pie from down the street at Oasis Cafe was made quickly, to order, in a much more pleasant environment, and made the family quite happy. Skip these guys at Rovente...there's plenty of great pizza on Hawthorne, Belmont and Division, but with service and ambiance that puts these clowns to shame.

I don't think Rovente is for everyone, it sure is for me though. I love love love giant greasy slices of za and this place has the biggest greasiest slices I have had on Hawthorne. For $3.25 I can get a slice that totally satisfies a pizza craving. I have never gone for a full pie. It looks like most of the negative reviews on here are regarding full pies so I can't speak to that. Single slices though are deluxe. The micro dining area is pretty rad, a little respite from the crowded pizza joints in the neighborhood. Plus they have Mexican coca cola. I strongly recommend giving Rovente a try if you dig flavorful and greasy pizza.

  • Krystal D.

To be fair I have never had their pizza but that is because their sandwiches are so darn good!! The customer service is always great. But for real their sandwiches are the best I ever had, I generally get the grilled chicken sandwich and I promise it will blow you mind. This place is a gem despite what some of the other reviews might say. Go there and try it once at least, if you are apprehensive about the pizza due to the other reviews, grab a sandwich. The only thing I would change is the issue of seating, but logically they just don't have the room and make due with what they have.

Finally gave this place a try after being severely disappointed with Pizza Oasis (never again, but that's another review). Alas, another disappointment here. I wish I had read the reviews before I blew $15 on Rovente. Pizza: Bread dough is not the same as pizza dough. Any pizza joint should know this. Bland flavors on both pizzas: Hawaiian and Veggie. How can Canadian bacon have no flavor? How can a veggie pizza taste only of a slight hint of garlic? If these popping burning questions keep you awake at night, order a pizza from Rovente and you will have all the answers. Delivery: Prompt and on schedule. The pizza was hot, which is always a plus. The driver was nice, but when I gave him a Twenty for a $14.99 pizza, he asked if I wanted change. No no NO. You do not do that. I'm not going to give anybody a 32% tip, and no one should ever ask if I want change; I'll tell my server if what I give them is all for them. I gave him a $2 tip, which I thought was fair. Why can't we get a GOOD pizza on Hawthorne, of all places? Atomic Pizza, please come on down! We need you.

I work in the neighborhood and i constantly pickup the large cheese pizza to have with a coworker. PHENOMENAL!!!! Brooklyn style thin crust pizza... People on here hating "my pizzas too greasy" probably also complain "my water is too wet"... visit this place. Make the correct decision.

Best pizza in Portland! Thinner crust and perfectly greasy. Yummm!

  • Heathen J.

Ordered over the phone and got great customer service. The pizza arrived within the time given. That is where the good ended and the mediocre started. The crust is okay, the sauce and toppings were very scant and we paid $29 for it. Too bad since it is so close and prompt!

Worst person answered the phone tonight with a snide remark when I asked for delivery. This would have been my 2nd visit to Rovente, the first of which was not so great but I decided to give it another try since the sign out front said it had new management. Nope never again.

  • Spike C.

I am a little reluctant to give even 3 stars. I have been a fan of Rovente for many years, but things have been going downhill lately. The delivery used to be quite prompt, but what was formerly 40 minutes is now well over an hour. The pizza that was hot with a crispy crust and a nice fresh character has become soggy and greasy. Sadly, I am now looking for another option for when I'm too tired/uncomfortable to cook.

Decided to go here because they had a Groupon that day and decided to give them a try. Too bad they didn't know how to use the Groupon mobile app. Really rude service overall. The woman goes from handling he phone, calculator, credit cards, etc to making your food with washing her hands or putting on gloves. Disgusting. The pizza itself had paper thin crust and not very generous with the toppings. I've had much better. It also says "dine in", but there were a couple seats at a very small bar area, so you'd never want to eat there, which was our plan. Horrible experience and would recommend going pretty much anywhere but here.

Grease bomb! Holy shmoley! Now, don't take this to mean I'm anti-grease. Heavens, no. But when dealing with baked goods it's easy to get too much of this love fluid and Rovente is a little on the other side of that line. The pizza itself isn't very impressive. The crust is floppy, the sauce and cheese are okay, nothing remarkable. The pricing is weird, the menu says (IIRC) $17 for an extra large pepperoni, but when Hoot asked they quoted her $12. Maybe they were trying to get rid of dough? I'm no pizza snob, but this was an underwhelming experience.

  • Anna B.

It hurts me to give a one-star for pizza. I love pizza. A lot. And it's pretty rare to have any complaints, as I'll have pretty much any kind of pizza, even crappy pizza is good pizza. But the $7.99 XL cheese pizza we had from Rovente was terrible. Just terrible! We ended up with the XL solely based on price as that seemed like more bang for our bucks than ordering a couple of the slices from the window at $3-4 each. A whole pizza for the same price, basically. In the end, though, it was a waste because I couldn't even pawn those leftovers off on strangers. Oh, and did I mention the ridiculous wait for this crummy pie? I could have made a meal for ten people in the time it took for them to throw together a cheese pizza. Pass.

Good Points: I did like the pizza here, and I'm happy they deliver in my neighborhood (and in most of Portland from the looks of it). The menu has a lot a variety too which was nice. Their crust is kind of corn meal-y which I liked but isn't for everyone. Ingredients tasted fresh and the cheese/sauce were good. Not-So-Good Points: The guy on the phone had no idea what special I was talking about when I asked about the coupon posted on their website which was a little weird. We figured it out, but the delivery was supposed to be 45-60 minutes and actually took almost an hour and a half (we missed the movie we wanted to go to). When the pizza arrived it was still warm but it have been stacked without those little plastic things to keep the box up so the cardboard had smushed into the top of the pizza and pulled off the toppings when we opened it. I was pretty unimpressed with the salad too. There wasn't anything really wrong with it, it just wasn't great (lettuce, some veggies, ranch dressing, $6). Overall I was pretty appalled by the service but I'm inclined to give this place another try since the pizza was pretty tasty and maybe the delivery guy just had a tough day.

  • Dan H.

This is not my favorite slice in town, but $7.99 for an extra large cheese pizza is not a bad deal. I was expecting a greasy pie, but I was pleasantly surprised. If I want pizza and I want to go cheap, this is the place I will be heading to.

This is the answer to all hungry tummies after a stroll down Hawthorne browsing and possibly fighting with other vintage clothes shoppers. A tiny shack that anywhere else besides Portland might seem questionable, but here it just means good pizza. My then date now bf ordered himself 2 slices (I wasn't hungry). One pepperoni & one fancy veggie looking one. We sat on the damp picnic tables outside. I tried a bite & I couldn't stop. We looked at each other & he began eating his slice in hand faster than I had ever seen him eat because he was scared I'd snatch it right out of his hand (he already knew me too well). It was thin and crispy with chewy crust. Yum! For my bf's hunger's sake, I will never be stupid enough to think I'm not hungry ever again.

Pizza is one of my favorite foods of all time. I love trying out smaller pizza shops as opposed to Pizza Hut and Dominos. I also love making pizza, but no matter how good mine is, trust me it's pretty damn good, I still prefer ordering it. Rovente filled that void for me because it was quality pizza for a good price. I used to love their carry-out special: X-Large Cheese for 7.99. I would pick it up take it hope put some fresh basil from my garden and slice up some tomato and I had myself a feast. Recently though, they upped their price and I don't think I will be so gung ho in the future about going there. The rest of their menu is pretty expensive as far as pizza goes, so that is out of the question as well. Too bad.

I ordered Rovente delivery for the first time over the weekend. At first I thought the food was good but soon I realized I was very wrong. I got a chicken parm sub and although the bread was soggy it tasted good. The delivery time for 2 subs was almost an hour and when they arrived they were barely warm. The greek salad had unexpected but welcome veggies in it and I was pleased. Until I took a bite into my chicken parm sub and pulled out a long brown curly hair from my mouth. I have blonde hair. I almost puked. I called back to ask if anyone there had brown curly hair and the man on the phone said the guy making the subs did. I asked if his hair was tied back and apparently it was. Then they wanted to give me a $10 credit there for next time I ordered there. Like I would ever order from them again! HA! They agreed to credit my dinner back $10 but I think if they had better costumer service they would have credited the entire amount of $21. Be careful eating here. I am horrified and will never eat here again.

People like to beat the little blue shack up in the reviews. I will tell you....if you are in the store...you'll get better service than if you try and have it delivered. It's $8.99 for a 15" pepperoni...and it is FAR better than Dominos. It is really hard to complain about this joint. I enjoyed it...even went back for more!

  • Diane P.

Wow. What horrible pizza. It's got that crust that resembles rolls you get at the all-you-can-eat buffet. I really can't believe how bad it is. Customer service was good, and they delivered when they said they would.

THE WORST DELIVERY/EATING EXPERIENCE IN RECENT YEARS i rarely use lots of capital letters in consecutive words in review. so when i do im all sorts of bat shit angry. i will never never never ever order from here again. I was starving when I ordered. This made the night's events even more painful. sequence of the night's events: 6:04: order special, including pizza, wings, garlic bread and pop. The woman who is also the manager and who also inspired zero confidence in me from the get go due to shoddy communication skills told me they do not have blue cheese dips for the wings. I was surprised. I asked how this could be. She explained that they never ever have had blue cheese sauce. I am quite sure I have received blue cheese dressing in the past, but let's just pretend for the sake of this review, she is right. She then says to me, shit you not, that hot wings come with ranch. HUH?? me thinks not. She then asks me if I want bbq wings or hot wings. I replied, hot. She tells me it will be 45 minutes. She does not say it is busy and does not say anything else. 7:08: as i was starving and already had no faith in the woman with whom i ordered, i called to make sure things were ok as it had already been over an hour. The kid who answered said, "he is on his way, it will be 5 to 10 minutes maximum." I double check that he knows that the delivery guy needs to call me. He says yes. I ask him what number was written down. He give me the wrong number. I say, that is the wrong number, he says, oh, yeah, my mistake. I ask if he suspects it is a mistake the delivery person also might make. He has a non-memorable response. 7:18: I go downstairs to wait in the lobby. I do this to save the two minutes of going down the stairs once the delivery guy calls I am hungry as fuck. It has been ten minutes since the kid's promise of ten minute max. So i call. The kid recognizes my voice and smartly transfers me to the original woman who is unfamiliar both with honesty and blue cheese. She PROMISES it is within five minutes away and that it is very busy (if only she had told me it was busy when i ordered the pizza i would have been more able to make proper pizza decisions). I will get $2 off as some kind of remedy. 7:27: I am highly unpleased and call back. I am again told the guy must be there any minute. 7:35: I call again. After gently explaining my displeasure, am told I will get 50% off. 7:42: we open the boxes of food. The wings have NO sauce on them. NONE. they have NO flavor. NONE. i called back and the kid, no shit, said, well i know they are the right ones as the bbq ones are sticky. I tell him, there is NO sauce on them. He says they must be the hot ones. I cannot believe how ridiculous the entire experience has been and hung up. I then began to drink wine at 1838 the speed. does this kid think that wings are cooked from raw already with sauce on them? His sense of logic is both startling and one that makes me scared for future generations. Because they are not sticky, they must have the other sauce on them, despite me telling him there is no sauce and no flavor. and the bottom of the crust is soggy. I would have smelled for urine as punishment for my quite reasonable expressed complaints but as the two i spoke with would likely qualify for oregon standards "developmentally delayed", not even a possibility. NEVER AGAIN

I'm of the school of thought that pizza is supposed to be junk food. Cheap, greasy and covered in meat and cheese... which makes Rovente my favorite pizza joint in the neighborhood. If you want a $25 pizza covered in fruit, nuts, and algae... more power to you... go to Hot Lips. But, if you're looking for an artery clogging wheel of deliciousness that will leave you with a big greasy smile on your face and some money in your wallet, you can't beat Rovente. Added bonus: They deliver!

one of the only real places left on Hawthorne. A family run, hole in the wall, hot, no frills pizza place. I like that it exists. Maybe too heavy on the garlic, I dunno. Not the best pizza going.

  • Jens J.

We had our introduction to Rovente last night. Went there to pick up a chicken-artichoke creamy garlic sauce thin crust pizza. Those poor workers! It must have been over 100 degrees in there even though it was not more than 65 outside. How do they endure it? But I digress. The chicken on pizza was great. Nice slices of real meat (as compared to the chicken on pizza at say, ahem, Round Table). Pizza baked to a nice delicate golden brown. Tasted great, but the creamy garlic sauce was too creamy making the pizza gloppy. While Rovente was generous with the chicken , we had to hunt around for the artichoke. Also, the slices are too large; they should be half the size they are. The only place to eat pizza on the premises are on some picnic tables outside on a scraggly lawn. Pushy crows hovering nearby for scraps.

This place is a great by the slice place. Their slices are very large compared to others. They also have a great deal. 1 slice pizza (pepperoni or cheese) and a can soda for 3.95 Sweet Deal!

  • Em H.

Cheapest cheese pie in Portland (only if you pick it up). Great hot right out of the oven so time your trip well. You can't beat the price and they're great people. If you're on a budget and you want a decent pie, call them. This ain't NY pizza but its not bad. PS. not a good cold pizza. if you're bad at time management, toss it in the oven at home and it comes back to life better than ever. It's bigger than a frozen pizza and just as cheap!

  • Ed H.

Really good pizza - although no one really agrees on what's good pizza. So it's good if you like: medium-thick medium-floppy crust (a slight crease down the middle is more than enough to hold a piece in one hand), robust sauce, large size pieces, regular amounts of grease, good quality toppings in fair amounts and an average amount of cheese. It could almost be held as the standard from which better and worse pizza is gauged. I've been going here for years and it is as consistent as I've found.... and as obnoxious as it sounds, they've actually delivered it to a very drunk me, six blocks down the way. I know. I know. You don't have to say anything. I know.

    (4)
  • Andrew S.

I was wary about the price--usually a medium pizza for under fourteen dollars doesn't yield much quality. But I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a medium takeout pizza with chicken, pesto and tomatoes, and it was absolutely fantastic. The fact that it was also only thirteen dollars made me even more satisfied with my pick. My advice would be not to hesitate to order.

Pizza by the slice is always a novelty. The thin crust. The 'this has been sitting out for a while now, letting the cheese congeal' texture. The sparce toppings. It reminds me of the zoo. You stare at these hopeless slices of pizza behind their glass enclosures and just feel sorry for them. I've been spoiled by Pizza Oasis' made-to-order slices, so nothing even compares. So when we wandered in I took one quick look at the slices and went straight for a freshly made pie. There was a sign outside stating a $7.99 extra large cheese. Surely a single topping couldn't be that much more? I inquired. $12.99. Whatever, I'll take it. I had mouths to feed and alcohol to soak up. It'd do. So we waited. And waited. And waited. It arrived and did nothing but disappoint the second we opened that box. It was flat, overly cheesed, overly greased, pepperoni pizza. I think you can call it pizza anyway. The thin crust was made the grease's bitch. It hung limply when you peeled it from the grease-soaked cardboard. It was bland, too. From now on, I think I'll pass on this greasy nonsense, even if it sounded good at the time. It filled the void, it sopped up alcohol, but the amount of grease was absolutely unnecessary. Give me Little Caesars. Give me Dominos. Hell, give me Totinos. I'd eat anything over this crap.

This is one of my favorite pizza places. My girlfriend and I usually order 15 minutes before and pick it up right before it is done cooking. They have an awesome large pizza deal that is cheap and their simple cheese pizza is amazing especially when it's hot. If you're looking for a quick cheap pizza that is just as good as almost any pizza in Portland then look no further.

Rovente's is the quintessential pizza that is neither all that good or all that bad. It is definitely over priced for specialty pizza but the take out prices are spot on. The XL cheese is great for $8.99. The pizza itself is generally a little greasy but it heats up well the next day. Overall, the pizza is okay but I wouldn't spend more than $10.

I'm sadden that we won't be visiting the Rovente Pizza on Hawthorne. For the longest time it's been a place to try but you always forget to. The one day you do and take part in their carry out special at $8.99 and it's not bad, hot, tasty and great if you have only $10.00 to your name. It's come to my attention that they have discontinued their carry out special which is a major bummer and therefore we have no reason to return. I let minor annoyances about this place slide when we've ordered in the past but now with news of the cancellation of their carry out special really sucks. Try a slice but their regular pies are not worth the price. Sorry to see you go Rovente.

For what we paid had a coupon. Was OK little too greasy, chef salad lacked any substance an coming on a paper plate with a tin foil cove well nuff said. Also had a hot Italian sub was OK had more veggies then meat. Like I said had a coupon an price didn't come into play but like others said place is over priced.

The pizza is good for west coast pizza, so I go there occasionally. BUT...The place is pretty dirty. There is dirt and dust everywhere in the customer area. I can only imagine what the back areas look like. Also, i have a great story about the old Italian lady shaving her mustache over the food prep area. I walked in one day and she was standing over top the food prep area. She didn't see or hear me come in I guess. Anyway- she was looking at her mustache in a pink compact mirror. I was patient and figured she knew I was standing at the counter. Anyway- she breaks a razor out of her purse and starts shaving herself over the food cutting area. HAHAHa. No lie. Disgusting...but I was hungry so I still ordered my food.

Best non-gourmet pizza in Portland. Big, greasy, perfect! Reminds me of when pizza hut was good (like when I was 7 and you got pan pizzas with reading rainbow points). Can't beat the price either.

Still moving, and again wanting pizza, I opted to have Rovente deliver this time. Both the guy who answered the phone and the guy who brought my pizza were super friendly. It took just an under an hour for my pizza to get to my door, but on a chilly, drizzly Friday night (at just around the time when I suspect the first round of munchies was setting in around SE) I didn't think that was excessive. My pizza was hot when it got to me, my cans of soda were still cold, and I was happy regardless. The delivery dude apologized anyway. I thought it was nice that he was keeping track. Most importantly, the pizza was every bit as good as it was the first time. Rovente is quickly becoming one of the things I like best about my new neighborhood.

One-word impression: INCONSISTENT Rovente's is my go-to pizza slice place mainly because of the fact that it's only a couple of blocks from where I live and is fairly economical. I think that range of reviews thus far for Rovente's on Yelp is fair because the range of quality of their pizza is just as wide. I had a couple of slices yesterday that exemplified this range. I had this interesting white pizza slice with chicken, tomatoes, and other toppings that was super tasty with a crust that was crisp on the outside and doughy on the inside. But I also had a veggie pizza slice with artichoke and spinach that was wet and all over the place. Overall, it's not bad and is very serviceable in a pinch if you have low expectations, but consistency is certainly an issue here.

I've been ordering delivery pizza from this place since it opened. It's pretty good pizza - way better than the usual pizza delivery places. But what is up with their $2 delivery charge?!? Being that they never charged for delivery before, it mildly irritated me that at the end of the phone order they tacked on a $2 charge. LAME. However, for delivery pizza it's dang good. Minus 1-star for surprise delivery charge. Boo.

Pretty good for delivery. Order plenty of time ahead. More than just pizza. Salads, wings, etc. I've been watching my co-workers eat Rovente's in front of me for awhile now. The smell of pizza taunting me through the halls. So, I decided to hop on the bandwagon and I have to say I'm glad I did. The french bread Hawaiian and a spinach salad were both tasty.

My favorite tasting pepperoni pizza is made here, sure they bake their pizza's in a closet but it is not a dine in kind of place. See here, they make amazing pizza and it is only 9 or 10 bucks for a larger pepperoni! Thank you Rovente for making amazing pie at an amazing price!

Got a groupon $20 worth for $10..and I hv to say, much worth it for that price..ordered some wings, pretty tasty..sat outside the picknix table on a warm nite enjoying the pepperoni and sausage pizza was the best part..

I work in advertising, and have never seen a direct mailer work so well for a company. The key is targeting bachelor sports fans with a penchant for italian cuisine (read: pizza). My roommate and I got a menu in the mail from Rovente a couple months ago, and have since relinquished hundreds of dollars towards their delectable pizza. I highly recommend the #74, which is bbq chicken on two 8" pieces of french bread. The average cost is $6-$10 per person. The pizza is kinda spendy, but it is much better than dominoes or pizza hut. They deliver to ballers who spend $12 or more, so make sure you have a friend to eat it with (or a big piggy bank).

I will NEVER order their pizza again! They inspired me to join Yelp.I would rather have frozen pizza! Everything about the whole experience was wrong including the late delivery!

Well, someone told us they had good wings here...when we walked in and ordered the wings, and the girl grabbed a bag of precooked frozen wings out of a freezer, I immediately had my doubts. She said they would be ready in about 6 mintues. Well I pretty much figure she just threw them in the microwave for 6 minutes. I couldn't even call these wings. They were more like McDonald's Chicken McNuggets, with a bone! I have actually gotten better wings in the frozen section of a grocery store! I couldn't eat them, threw them in the trash. The place was dirty, and the pizza that was behind the glass for sale by the slice, well I think you'd be crazy to even spend 50 cents on a slice of this crap. Paper thin dried up looking garbage. I honestly think the people who like this pizza are so high they'd eat a piece of dog crap and think it was good. That isn't pizza. Rovente's is nothing but another trendy, dirty, over priced restaraunt along Hawthorne Blvd!

Pizza tastes like something frozen and thawed. Waste of money.

Delivery here has been hit or miss for me. Also, I've only gotten pizza delivered, and like wings, pizza can suffer from sitting in a box for too long. The pizza here has been great, however, and every time I visit the restaurant I go away happy. The crust is thin and well cooked, though it falls short of Apizza Scholls god-like status. The toppings are fresh, and they certainly carry some interesting items. I have to give the topping crown to Hot Lips. Overall, the pizza can be greasy, but it's quite flavorful and who needs good health anyway? Prices here are lower than your "Gourmet Pizza" joints. Perhaps that's why I preferred them for so long. It's an odd thing to get used to: expensive pizza.

I've had the delivery from Rovente and it's not as good, for some reason, as when you pick up a pie yourself. I've had many quick and dirty slices from this place while on the run, too, and never have they been a bad decision. They often have more toppings on the slices they offer than Oasis, although I think the latter does a better slice. This place is simply efficient and decent. The pizza is the closest thing I've had to pizza in Buffalo, NY, some years ago, which is to say the crust is a little softer than I usually like. But I like it here (and man they can make some good pizza in Buffalo). While the location is a little hut-like (not Pizza Hut-like, thankfully) or cave-like (Pizza Cave?), this is a fine and affordable place to get the job of eating pizza done. Did I mention that the staff is friendly and swift in their duties? I dig it.

A delivery favorite of Southeast denizens, Rovente offers about thirty different pies, traditional and not-so. Always fast, moderately-priced, and super-yummy.

I LOVE BBQ CHICKEN PIZZA! Rovente has great BBQ sauce. So great in fact, that I find myself ordering regular pizza's from them with the BBQ subbed for red sauce. Have gotten pizza's from them maybe 5 times and have never been disappointed.

it was awful! I don't know, I got their flyer with a coupon on the door, and I was hungry and lazy, so I thought I'd try it. Unfortunately their flyer said very positive things about their food. (Duh, but I believed it enough to get excited that it was coming...) Anyways, it was thick, flavorless (with three toppings!), and greasy as hell. The good part was that they offered a nice salad on the side and QUICK and kind delivery (there's the second star). I would never order from there again or recommend anyone does unless they REALLY don't care what it tastes like. I was totally and startlingly disappointed.

The $7.99 carry out deal is fantastic. It's not mind blowing pizza, but it is more than solid. Cheesy, greasy, with pretty good crust (though you might not have room for the crust if you plan on polishing off the whole pizza). Even better when sprinkled with lots of Parmesan and red pepper. I'd be inclined to give five stars, except that I haven't had anything besides the carry out cheese pizza.

delivery system seems to have been developed by a drug dealer--painfully slow. '45 minutes' is the mantra, but give it an hour and an half. kinda cool: the anticipation builds, hunger mounts, and when the despair kicks in--the pie arrives. it's always a damn good pie. of course, east coast pizza snobs will dismiss it as inferior, as they dismiss anything east of philly as inferior. well, if it's so great back there...anywho, expensive and satisfying. and double-check your order before the pot-addled driver jumps back into his 'borrowed' yugo--they do tend to goof.

THERE WAS A RAT IN THE WINDOW WHEN WE WALKED BY TONIGHT. My husband and I went out for a late night walk with the dog. As we made our way up Hawthorne, we walked past Rovente (they were closed), and saw something moving in the window. Upon closer inspection, we saw it was a RAT. Not even a mouse, a big, gray RAT. Climbing up and down the stool next to the window, and on the window sill. Then we saw it climb onto the table where they had the clear plastic water cups, next to the other window. It continued to scurry around slowly, moving up and around the cups and eating god knows what that was left out. I am HORRIFIED. Especially because I almost ordered a pizza from there tonight (for the first time, after living on Hawthorne for over 10 years) after having tried their bread sticks and sauce on another late night walk. The place is super seedy looking, but I figured, hey, don't judge a book by it's cover. Ugh. It makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it. And of course I'm only giving it one star because there's nothing worse than that available!!!And of course, I'm giving it one star because there's nothing worse than that available!!!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
