Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Delicious pizza and clean establishment. Pretty neat decors too. Kudos to the cashier for an awesome service! 4 combos to choose from with an array selections of pizza (Original, Veggies, Meat and Chicken).

I've been wanting to try Pizza Schmizza since there's one close to my house, so I stopped in for a slice at lunchtime. I'm an Alfredo junkie, so I opted for the "No Kiss Tonight" - garlic chicken, red onions, feta and Alfredo sauce. It narrowly won out over the "Popeye & Olive Oil" - essentially a vegetarian version with spinach & tomatoes instead of chicken. I give them kudos for friendly service and for heating each slice in the oven before serving it. Most places just slide it right off the buffet and onto your plate. The taste itself was decent - I enjoyed the feta particularly - but nothing life-changing. The crust was thick, chewy and a bit bland, and overall my slice wasn't quite up to its $3.99 value. It's a review based on one slice, so don't be scared away. But I'll try something different if I return - and probably won't go out of my way to do so.

We've stayed at the hotel across the street several times, but we never made it in until our last trip. We were pressed for time before a movie and needed something quick. I ordered the Chicken Thai Pizza and my guy went with the pepperoni. We both ordered a Widmer on draft, because PORTLAND. Why order anything else? Pizza was good for a nice cheap slice. Not the best in the land, but A-OK in my book. I'd hit that again. ;)

The pizza here is simply OK. I had a slice of the margherita pizza heated up. It came as part of a special that included a drink for $5. I ducked in to escape the pouring-down rain and blustery wind and I just wanted to regroup before heading back out again. What really made this Pizza Schmizza visit stand out was the excellent and friendly customer service of the two gentlemen working at the time. They work well as a team and obviously get along well, but not at my expense. They brought me into their conversation and totally attended to my order immediately. Once I was seated, they cleaned up tables and continued chatting with me. Every customer was treated the same way as well. I enjoyed seeing they could have fun while working and still maintain great work AND customer service ethic. If you need a port in a storm, this is a fine place to rest and rejuvenate.

It's ok, but $7 and change for two slices is a bit crazy. I work at a nearby office, so sometimes it's a good fast option. But until you tip, you're basically $9 in, and there are many places to get a better lunch for $9. I question why i come here, and i think the answer is, fast, easy, good.

This location is right across from the Hilton Executive Tower, which made it a perfect option for a cheap meal. Head down and grab two slices and a drink for less than $10. Nice sauce to cheese ratio, and every time I've gone the pizza has been fresh and hot, not always the case when you buy by the slice. Have not spent time in the dining area, as I always get it to go. It is a pretty open seating are with no wait staff, so order at the counter and find a spot. Pepsi is on tap, but you can get bottled beers from the cooler it you want a better drink. Definitely worth what you pay for, I will and have gone back.

I have tried really hard on this Portland trip to eat at new places and focus more on fine dining or local colour. Yet sometimes, my schedule and my love of walking around Portland have collided and forced a culinary compromise. One recent example was Lunch on Sunday, with my arrival at class with only 30 minutes to spare and no time to check another fine restaurant off my Portland Bucket List. I also wasn't that hungry and a pizza slice and a drink sounded about right. So Pizza Schmizza it was and as Mr. Spock would say, it was "Satisfactory".

A full star is generous - Please don't eat here - flys covered the pizza this visit and was told they won't sell the 'fresh' pizza until the 'old' pizza is gone. The rude staff and cashier who rolled her eyes when we asked a question about the menu assured me that I won't be eating here again and won't EVER recommend this business to others. This isn't my first visit to this location but it will be my last.

I got myself a Don Ho (Ham & Pineapple) on their gluten free crust and I was pleasantly surprised! I've tried a lot of gluten free pizza crusts, most of which taste like cardboard, but Pizza Schmizza really managed to pull it off! I also enjoyed that they put the pineapple on the pizza after taking it out of the oven.

we walked by this place and we both said "that's pizza smells really good!" so that is how we decided to have lunch here. service was below average. we walked in placed our orders and for whatever reason our pizzas were not being warmed up. we had to voice to the staff that our orders were being skipped. the pizza was okay. nothing special. better than pizza hut and caesar's? yes.

Hate me if you must, but it's hard to hate Pizza Schmizza. I know it's a chain, but there aren't places where you can go and grab a tasty slice or delicious salad for a good price, by where I'm at. This place makes it easy and fast to leave 30 minutes early from work, by providing me a 30 minute, leisurely lunch. I'm not rushing to scarf it down to get back in time, or eating while I walk. That gives me hiccups, and that can kill people! I get the #2 combo. Slice, Salad, Soda... $6.49..... OK! It's plenty of food, regular sized bowl stuffed with salad. The slices are thin style, but BIG. Even just a slice is fine for me most days, but the greek salad is so yummy I just can't refuse. The staff is cool, quick and friendly; and I always have plenty of time to savor the meal. The Genoa is a good pizza. Their crust is pretty good, kind of fluffy dough, and tastes even better swiped around my bowl to get some of the greek lemon lime dressing on it. A co- worker told me they have a rewards card... Is this heaven, did I hiccup too much? I keep forgetting to ask... About the card, not heaven. I'm sure they get enough crazies asking odd questions downtown.

Pizza Schmizza is good pizza for sure. Service on Taylor sucks. Arrogant Bastard server and cold pizza. Don't waste your time at this one.

Woman with long black hair was impatient as I looked at the menu and pizza selection at lunch yesterday. There wasn't even a line, and I told her it was my first time there. I handed her money to pay and she put my change on the counter... I observed how she treated the customer that followed me and she smiled at him and placed change in his hand after he paid... The restaurant wasn't too busy, so as I left I thought I would complement the meal (it was okay) and reiterate to her that that was my first visit. She just kept working and never looked up to acknowledge I was there. This week I just started working at a nearby company, and I likely won't return.

The pizza here is disappointing to say the least. In particular, i found the sauce to be more like a brown chunky marinara sauce than a bright red smooth tomato sauce. The chunkiness of the sauce didn't taste good and interfered with the rest of the pizza. The ingredients and flavor of the pizza were cheap and It actually tasted best cold when the cheese hardened. Try hot lips pizza - though i didn't try it bc they would have taken 90 min to deliver to our hotel, their menu looks a thousand times better.

  • Natalie G.

The pizza was ok, but really overpriced. Ordered the pizza with chicken on it and could not pick it up the crust was too limp. The staff was not very friendly and it was hard to get the key for the bathroom.

  • Emily B.

Their customer service is poor. Don't try placing an order in the morning... they will call you 20 minutes before your requested pick up time and tell you that it won't be ready for another 2 hours.

  • Mike R.

Like any other restaurant in this chain, the pizza is good. However, the sanitary conditions here are horrid! As I was sitting in here recently and enjoying my lunch, I sat in stunned silence as I watched a worker proceed to sneeze (into her hands), handle money, go out and pick up dirty dishes from tables and then from the dish thing on top of the trash...all followed up by her walking over to the counter and beginning to serve customers. Never once during this entire episode did she make any attempt to clean or wash her hands. I lost my appetite...it was sickening. I can only hope other stores of this chain , and their employees, have better hygiene habits.

Exactly what our hungry group needed after a long road trip. Super friendly helpful staff, laid back setting, and the pizza was good too. When I say friendly and helpful I mean it. The really cool people here took one look at our hungry group and suggested a whole pizza, that they could go half and half on the toppings. Also pointed out it would be more cost effective for us to buy a 2 liter instead of fountain drinks. Thank you, I LOVE PORTLAND

We have ordered pizza from this place a couple of times and there is not much outstanding about it. There nothig better than Casa Mia's pizza en Kennewick, WA. Its hard to find good pizza in Oregon.

Back in the day, before I got all married up I used to hang out with a guy named Jason*. Jason was the type of friend that I called when I was bored, needed some action or just needed a fan. We would share pitchers of High Life together, snuggle on his air mattress, play shuffle board or eat pizza. Eventually we would get to the part where he would tell me I was marriage material, I would tell him I liked him but I didn't like him, like him, we would pass out from all the booze and I wouldn't see or hear from him until the next time I was lonely. We did this thing for years, Jason and I. I think that in his little heart he thought I would one day change my mind. Really there was nothing not to like about him. He was handsome, educated, a blast to hang out with. One time I went as far as introducing him to the fam, but there was something about him that I just couldn't love. I probably could have married him. We could have had mixed babies with blue eyes and drinking problems. But we didn't, and when I told him I was getting married and that my new husband would probably not appreciate us drinking ourselves silly and banging on his air mattress every 6 months, he looked up at the ceiling and two jumbo tears streamed down his face. Pizza Schmizza is like Jason in the sense that every time I go there I have a good time. I get full off of good pizza, I drink up their Kombucha, I listen to their lovely tunes and don't go back until the next time it's convenient. Like Jason, Pizza Schmizza has never done me wrong. They are always there when I need them for a conveniently priced salad or slice, but as much as I try to force it, the love is just not there! The last time I saw Jason was the day I made him cry. Wherever he is, I hope that he is happy, drinking pitchers of High Life and snuggling with a girl who loves him back, like he deserves. *names were changed to protect the innocent.

A coworker and I hit this location right at the beginning of the lunch rush (11:45am). It's the best time to go because the pizza hasn't been sitting long. I picked out a huge slice of Cochino Chicken and another of Extreme Veggie. They popped the slices back in the over to warm up. I had a 2 for 1 coupon so I got the two slices and a smallish Mt. Dew for about $6. Nice deal. Back at the office, I open my box of goodies and started munching. The Cochino Chicken had pesto sauce, red onions, smoky bacon and feta cheese. The bacon and pesto flavors mixed well. It would have been better if there was a bit more feta but it was still good. The Extreme Veggie has all sorts of stuff on it: Mushrooms, red and green peppers, spinach, onions, zucchini, black olives and garlic. They cook the pizza long so vegetables are still tender crisp not soggy. That's how I like it but my coworkers said he thought it was undercooked. Depends on your taste I guess. But if you like your veggies a bit softer, I check out the slice first and ask them to cook it longer if you like it that way. Service was friendly and quick. They even honored my coupon for my coworker's lunch as well. The bottom line: Service: ***.5 Quick, friendly. Food: ***.5 Tasty Price: **** With the coupon, I got a filling lunch for $6 Ambiance: Not rated, ordered to go. 3.6 up to 4.

Pizza is good and am glad that they sell pizza by the slice, but it's overpriced at ~$3.70/slice. I also found a hair in one of my slices.

I stayed in Portland for a day and found this place not far from my hotel. My slice of pineapple and ham was pretty big and tasted quite good. I think it could have been heated for just a little longer, but I still gobbled it up happily and quickly. The pineapple was just a big circular slice right in the middle of the pizza slice. Yum! There were some breadsticks waiting to be picked up when I ordered that I definitely wanted to purloin. They looked really good. The booth tables have glass tops with a bunch of old receipts for you to look at while you eat. That's pretty bizarre. A big slice of pizza and a small (refillable) drink for less than $5. I'd come back for that deal if I'm ever up in Portland again.

Pretty good and dependable pizza place with an energetic vibe. Great crust and several different options. My favorite pizza description was the pepperoni - haha meat discs. Has great ranch dressing if you get a salad or veggie platter.

In a city rightfully renowned for its culinary delights, replete with artesianal ingredients and inventive recipes, it can be easy to find something lacking in life. Opulence breeds more opulence and food starts to be spoken of in lofty, critical tones usually reserved for the 1%'s bickering over American or Blood diamonds. In times like these, reconnect with your roots and recognize: sometimes, what you really want is a big, no-frills slice of pizza. Pizza Schmizza is unapologetically unpretentious, and makes a damn fine slice of dough, sauce, cheese and toppings. Is it cooked in a wood-fired oven? No. Is it made with exclusively locally-sourced ingredients? No. Do I care? No. Throw in a pint of rolling rock with your cheese or pepperoni slice between 2 and 6pm for $5 and you have a perfect cure for all the overpriced bourgeoisie nonsense that, much like the ants in my house, infests the Portland food scene.

Not great, not bad, but decently good pizza. The New York style slices did the trick. I was hungry when I got there and not hungry when I left. Certainly nothing to write home about, but it works when you want a quick bite.

This place is disgusting and they should be ashamed to call themselves a restaurant. The pizza taste like slime and the employees are rude and entitled. In a city with so many options do not cheat yourself by eating at this piss poor restaurant. 100% awful experience, never going back.

    (1)
  • Peter N.

Slice of reheated New York style tossed pizza was excellent. Maybe some of the reviewers here have never had real New York pizza. Anyway, the two guys working, one tossing and the other on the register were very service oriented and got the job done. Make no mistake, though, this is a hole in the wall with good pizza. But don't let the exterior or interior put you off.

Wow! Their margherita pizza is crazy good. That said the rest of the place is just meh. I took the last slice from the display and though I'd be good to go but it turns out it sits there kind of cool and has to be warmed up in an oven. Not a fan of that. The service wasn't great either. Not terrible, just not helpful or friendly. There was a family of clueless tourists who kindly let me go in front of them while they decided but the guy working seemed exasperated with them anyhow. They weren't busy so it wasn't really a big deal but it didn't surprise me when they left and went elsewhere. The place was super dark too. The prices were fine about 3-4 for a big slice. I'd come back for the pizza in a hearbeat but I'd take it to go...

sunday afternoon brunch. met up with one of my old college friends there. hadn't seen him in a long, long time. i thought he just moved to Portland, but it's been over a couple of years. we're not good at keeping in touch... anyways, i treated and the slice of cheese i got was pretty good. i would say the first few bites were really good, but then for some reason it didn't finish very well. and the salad my wife got was again okay at the start, but then didn't finish very well. i think it would have been a lot better if it had the dressing on the side. it was nice in there b/c it was fairly empty. i think they probably get most of their business during the workweek, but i was glad to have a place like this open for me and my old friend to catch up. i gotta do better about keeping up with old friends as they journey through paths that i won't be able to take.

Yesterday, at about 11:45 a.m. I walked in to get a slice of pizza. I have never been to this location, so I wasn't familiar with their menu. I looked at their available pre-made pizzas for about 20 seconds, the server, was sure to make me feel uncomfortable asking me in a condescending tone if I was going to order anything, apparently she was in a rush, though I was the only person at the counter. I innocently asked if there was any pizza with shrimp or if it could be added to a slice, to which she snarled back that they do not have any seafood, so I asked for a slice of the Canadian bacon & pineapple. She proceeded to put my pizza slice in some heating contraption, then she washed her hands, and took it out of the heating element and boxed it up for me. I asked for her name and she told me it was "Del***a" (because it is such a unique first name I am omitting the full version it from this review), and I thanked her. Then she seemed to change her tune and comes to the counter where I was adding the peppers and Parmesan and asked me if there was anything she could help me with. I said "no", because it would be unlikely she'd help with much of anything considering how rude she was to start with. Bad customer service aside I was hopeful for a decent slice, but make the whole experience even worse after I went back to my office then bit into the pizza; it was refrigerator cold to the touch, dry, and didn't have any kind of pizza sauce on it - I had to throw it away in the garbage. Although it may seem to be a quick and convenient option it is certainly not worth it to stop in and you're better off just not eating anything than to go here.

I took my son with me downtown today, and we got hungry....So we searched all the food carts around (as he rejected every one of them) to no avail...Finally we came across a happy medium: hot n' relatively fresh pizza. Not bad, but I can't see how 2 pieces of pepperoni pizza and a small drink should equal $7.85. C'mon Schmizza....you can do better than that, can't you? Give a brotha some love.....

Our family went to this pizza parlor in June. Since there were so many of us, each family ordered a pizza to share - family style. We ordered three classic pizzas: Don Ho (Hawaiian pizza), Traditional and Ol' Hickory (smoked bacon, baby red potatoes, roma tomatoes, dollop of sour cream and with alfredo sauce instead of traditional red sauce). I never had a pizza with potatoes before and the Ol' Hickory with the bacon, potatoes and alfredo sauce was the best.

Good pizza, really awesome service. When Paul and I walked in we were greeted by two super cool, very friendly workers. Both of them had huge smiles on their faces and they seriously couldn't have been any nicer. The pizza was good, not as good as Pizzacato but we really enjoyed it. I got a slice of veggie extreme and a slice of cheese. Paul got a creole slice and some other meaty slice. The veggies on my veggie extreme were quite good, I loved how it didn't have a ton of mushrooms on it as I find with so many veggie slices. The cheese was good, I loved how it wasn't greasy at all. The crust was good, I would have preferred it to be slightly more crispy but kudos to rubbing parmesan on the top of the crust, that was a nice bonus. Paul liked his slices but where he really LOVED Pizzacato he kept comparing Pizza Schmizza to it. We would go back there though, especially considering how hilarious the two ladies working there were. Seriously cool, they were so flippin funny!

Went here tonight and was pleasantly surprised. The food was ok (not bad not fantastic either) but the place was clean, the price fair, and the staff were some of the most friendly people I ever met. I'll definitely be back.

Very tasty pizza at a good price, we stayed across the street at the hilton towers and saw a few locations while we were in town so that seemed very convenient.

I stopped in for lunch on a Monday at 12:30. My 'Veggie baby' slice was put into the oven for 90 seconds, emerging utterly tasteless and not hot. Half-cooked dough base covered by still somewhat frozen (unmelted, cold) cheeze shreds and one cardboard-tasting tomato. Slightly greasy. Worse than meh. Yech. Was hungry for lunch but could not finish it. Very nice counter staff however.

Pizza Schmizza is probably my least favorite pizza in Portland. I've had slices a few different times, and it just never hits me. Sure, it gets the job done, but nothing more. Pizza is like sex... Even when it's bad, it's still good. The slices aren't big, the quality is poor, the slices usually don't seem fresh, and it's overall just not that good.

This is a review by a vegetarian Meh slice, ridiculously expensive. Something like $3.70 for a 1/8 of a 16" plain cheese. I'm not going to visit any of the other locations.

The pizza here is far above anything you will get from a Pizza Hut or Little Caesars, but far behind the quality of most local Portland pizzerias. I have stopped by this location a couple times and selected a slice or two from about a half dozen pre-cooked pizzas sitting out on the counter. In the summer I've noticed keeping the flies off the pizza seems to be a bit of a challenge. They do reheat your piece in an oven (think Sabarros) but it's never as hot or fresh as a fresh out of the oven pie. I've ran into a few friendly staff, but I can generally count on an aloof, bordering on rude, staff member to take my order and ring me up. I was torn on giving this review a two. The slightly overpriced menu had me leaning heavily in that direction. Yet despite all my objections above, I do find myself going back to the place occasionally to grab a quick slice, so 3-star it is!

It's like the Portland version of dominos. That's all I have to say.

The prices at Pizza Schmizza are outrageous. $2.50 for a cheese slice?!?! And it's only that cheap because of some 2 slices for $5 special going on currently. However, I must admit, the cheese pizza at Pizza Schmizza is probably my favorite cheese slice I've had anywhere.

So sad... I like this org but my experience at this location was aweful. We walked into an empty spot. There was at least two fellas working. The one that helped us seemed upset a customer dared order. He messed up our order by not asking us to clarify we wanted a large salad. He neglected to give us any napkins or a single fork to eat with. Our pizza was barely warmed (we got slices) I swear the guy just wanted to rush us out. If anyone at P.S. reads this it's fine to hire edgy looking youths, just make sure they have people skills and are dedicated to providing a happy experience.
