Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Blood Pressure at Pizza Hut

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

i did not know what a caprese salad was before my girlfriend ordered one, and to this day i still haven't actually SEEN one. apparently, the assembly and presentation are of great importance to this type of salad, so unlike the garden salads i would normally order, it is not appropriate to just throw the ingredients of a caprese salad into a box by the handful and call it good. i got to hear all about it though, i assure you - the layering, the freshness... anyway, once again, the pizza was wonderful. beware ordering while hungry on a busy weekend evening - the online thingy said 45-90 minutes, and it was right around 90 when things arrived.

I dig this place for a few reasons: 1. They are one of the few places that will deliver to my house, for whatever reason 2. Their basic pizzas are pretty dang good. I try to always give some of the more artisan pizzas a try on their menu, but it's usually hit or miss for me personally, but what gets them the higher rating is their ability to make a basic cheese, pepperoni, or sausage/olive pizza really, really well. I'm definitely not knocking their other pizzas, I just prefer their take on the classics :) I'd definitely recommend Pizza Nostra for a tasty pie.

This review is for the pizza I ordered. and its subsequent delivery. They were both lacking - no joke. I get it that if you call on Friday at 645 it's going to take 90 minutes but this took even longer. One kid and my husband had both passed out by the time it showed up. ( hell yeah we live large on Friday nights!) I contacted them after 15 minutes past the delivery on the EAT24 app and it took another 10 minutes for that person to locate the pizza which she said was 15 minutes ( or so) away. I get that businesses get slammed, and all the shit that happens on a busy Friday but hey how about a phone call? Or maybe an apology when the barely just barely cooked through pizza arrived? Nope. Not a word. The pizza itself was under sauced and the crust was indeed the opposite of crusty, more in the realm of mushy. I just don't want to waste my pizza nights on this lackluster place so from now on I won't. Guys - get yer shit together or drop the delivery, and a little Customer service couldn't hurt which is why ya'll are getting TWO freaking stars. Bollocks...

I ordered delivery first and then read reviews second. I was pretty scared after I read about food poisoning, dirty kitchens, and incompetent staff. But the food arrived on time, was made as ordered, and most importantly was good. *wipes sweat from forehead* phew! Glad I survived that one.

I love Pizza and I love this place! We stopped by while visiting a friend in the area, so glad we came across it! I ordered the gluten free garlic chicken pizza and a regular cheese pizza. We had to order more, my boys loved the cheese pizza so much it was gone within minutes. The garlic chicken was awesome, I was really surprised about how great the crust was (new to the whole gluten-free thing and haven't had a lot of great experiences). The pizza had a thin crust-New York style, the sauce was perfectly seasoned and tasted really fresh, and the price point can't be beat. Not much of a dining area, but the weather was nice and the boys enjoyed sitting outside. Too bad they don't deliver to my neighborhood, but we will definitely make a trip back.

Had pizza delivered from here on a Sunday night around 8pm. They arrived in less time than estimated (around 40 minutes) and ordering was a breeze using the Yelp/Eat24 mashup. The DIY pizza (starts at $13.99) was made just the way I like it (obviously, because I designed it!) with pepperoni and olives. The key to this perfect pie was the spicy sauce. Usually when a pizza place offers a spicy version of their marinara, I roll my eyes because it won't have any flavor and ends up just tasting like marinara. This one, however, had a nice kick to it! The crust was doughy and sweet on the outside while being crisp enough to hold the toppings just right in the middle without being a flop fest. The cinnamon bites were ordered to meet the $15 delivery minimum. I would have preferred them a bit ooey gooey-er, but I think the delivery time messed with that a bit. However, they were a nice sweet treat to kick off the meal! And, I think they have the potential to make some really great French toast bites! I highly recommend the pizza for a night of couching it up!

Visiting from northern CA with my wife, 2 kids and another family of 5 and decided to order in. Looked at some tell reviews and gave this place a try for delivery. I ordered 4 large pies and sidelined a salad and was quite disappointed when the delivery driver showed up one hour and forty five minutes later when our kids were ready for bed. I paid $105 plus tip for an average of $26 per pie. My combo was good but had soggy crust, the veggie was good, but had soggy crust, the pepperoni was the best and the cheese was so burnt that my kids wouldn't even eat it. Not happy

My fiance and I just moved into the neighborhood and found our pizza place. First time we ordered they showed up when they said if not earlier, and the pizza was amazing. I just ordered again tonight and once again here right when they said and great pizza. Thanks pizza nostra! You guys are great!

Yes. Yes. If you're a fan of Gladstone Street Pizza, you will like Pizza Nostra (probably more). The margherita is solid. A lot of pizza places in the Portland metro use basil chiffonade on their pizzas (like Gladstone), and it's usually because they want to use less basil. Pizza Nostra uses whole basil leaves, optimizing the basil factor on your pizza. Bonus points. Also, their crust is superb. Not too chewy, a bit fluffy, perfectly pliable. Their pizza is affordable, and their options are nearly endless. Win.

So I've gotten to visit many establishments in my adopted Beaumont Wilshire neighborhood. This was one I hadn't been to and being that I am a pizza snob, I was hesitant. I was out walking my neighbors dog. A large nine year old puppy of a Golden Retriever. He needed snacks, I need food. He got his fill at Green Dog and I chose to stop here, basically because it had some covered outdoor seating and it was raining. Shocker. They had a combo of a slice, salad and drink so i went for a pepperoni slice and Greek dressing. The salad was standard iceberg with a few extra veggies, nothing impressive. The pizza is exactly what you'd expect. Nothing memorable with pepperoni on it. It was what it was. There is more pizza to try in this town, and that is what I will do.

Awesome NY style pizza! Generous toppings, chewy crust, delivered still hot. The garlic cheese sticks are delicious. This will be out go to delivery spot for sure. It's also well priced and I absolutely feel you get your money's worth. Check it out if you like NY pizza!

I wish I could stop ordering from here. Alas, the cheese breadsticks are too damn good. Then I get to the pizza... My standby is pepperoni, bacon, and fresh mozzarella. The bacon is real, the pepperoni is crisp, and the sauce is simply outstanding. The garlic aftertaste is awkward, but the food isn't overpoweringly garlicky. On top of it, delivery is always reasonably fast, and perpetually friendly. I'm sure there are better pizza places in town, but none of them let me order through Eat24 and then show up at my house like magic 45 minutes later. ... Be right back, I have a pizza to order.

This pizza was mediocre at best. The crust had decent crumb but was chewy and tough, rather like a bagel, rather than crisp. The sauce was average and the cheese was nothing special. The real issue is that I ordered a pie with "crispy bacon" (exact wording on the menu) and it came to my house covered with large slices of rubbery turkey bacon. Nowhere on the menu does it mention they don't use pork, so I was justifiably disappointed. When I called to complain, I was told, "Oh yes, we're Kosher, so none of our meat products are pork." Kosher, huh? (Meat and dairy together is not Kosher; pizza is about as far from Kosher as food gets.) Rolling my eyes, I asked misinformed employee #1 to let me speak with a manager. My subsequent conversation with a supposed manager was a frustrating exercise during which I was condescended to and told "Ma'am if you were that concerned about the bacon you could have asked about it when you ordered." (Oh come on, who would even think there was a chance that bacon would be anything other than bacon??) I was also told that "no one has ever called to complain about our bacon not being pork before," which I do not believe for one millisecond. Especially considering that our moving helpers several months ago ordered from this place and one of them called to make the *exact same complaint* while the rest of us suffered through our mediocre, chewy pork-free slices. If only I'd remembered the name of the place, I would never have ordered from them again! I now recall it was the worst takeout of our entire week-long moving experience. Mental note: "NO" is part of the name! pizza NOstra. I will not forget again. In the end, I was reluctantly offered a free pizza, which I don't particularly want. I can afford to feed myself enjoyable food instead. My recommendation to management: even in a city rife with gluten-free, vegan, free-range, GMO-hating anti-vaxxers, most of us are serious about our bacon. Additionally, with the number of restaurants and pizzerias in this city, you can't afford to be so rude and condescending to customers who call with a legitimate gripe. Bacon is, by definition, pork; and your menu should read "turkey bacon" rather than "crispy bacon". That minor change would prevent further disappointment for future first-time customers.

I order pizzas here for work events and I've had pretty much all the pizzas here. The Chicken Garlic pizza is the way to go with a side of marinara sauce on the side for dipping. Everyone at work loves this pizza so much that's all we order now.

I order pizza from here at least once a month. When it is good it is really good: fresh veg, spicy sauce, even and abundant toppings. When it is bad: under cooked dough, burnt toppings, uneven amount of toppings. It is 50-50, but when it is good it is so good it is worth risking it being bad. Delivery usually takes 70-90 minutes. Despite this wait, I tip well 20% or more because I realize this job is not fun and I don't need change that badly. Also delivery people are usually really nice and often apologetic about the wait right off the bat. Today, I waited almost 2 hours, then my order disappeared from eat 24 all together. I could not get through to the restaurant via eat 24 to cAncel my order. The delivery man finally arrived at 4:30 (order placed at 2:49). My ice cream was melted. My pizza is burnt and has very little cheese. The delivery man said nothing about being late. I gave him money and for the next 5 minutes he muttered to himself pretending to do the math on my change, basically trying to force me to tip him. I planned to tip him from the change which was $8 (normally that would have been the tip on my $27 bill, well above 20% but not today). He literally refused to give me my change, even when I asked "do you have my change?" after realizing the number muttering was never going to stop. (He literally put my money in his pocket and stood there, not holding change money in his hand pretending to count it). I finally just shut the door? This is the worst service I have ever had from this shop and their delivery person stole my money. I can't imagine ordering delivery from a place who hires people willing to steal from their customers. Won't be ordering here again.

SLICE SLICE, BABY! It was a rainy day in Portland so we decided to stay-in and get pizza delivered. GENIUS IDEA. We used Eat24 to place our order and it was simple enough. The pizza joint was only 3 blocks away. We could've easily picked up our dinner but we didn't want to go out in the rain. Unfortunately for us, the delivery took over an hour and we were starving. I just gotta say...IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT. We ordered a large BLOODY MARY PIZZA and it was delicious. It's basically a spicy margarita pizza with feta cheese and jalepenos. They tomato sauce was tangy and spicy, and the jalepenos added some extra heat. They were very generous with basil, feta, and tomatoes. The pizza was super thin and had a great crust. The entire pie was perfection. SOOOO GOOD.

Every couple months I stop in for the $20 Giant 26" Cheese pizza. Never a disappointment, the service friendly, the price is right, the pizza is good.

I ordered the Bloody Mary Pizza, and after an hour and a half of waiting my sad, thing, undercooked, undersauced pie arrived. It looked like the sauce had been applied with a toothpick, I had a tiny sprinkle of feta, and the toppings just rolled around on the lifeless crust. The first pizza I ordered from them was great. I'm not sure what happened this time, but I won't be ordering from them again.

We've been wanting to try this place for a while. We ordered 2 pizzas for delivery. Chicken club pizza & a pepperoni. The crust was something like boboli? Not thin, not thick, not good. Too chewy. The ingredients were good but they need to be chopped up and spread out over the pizza. The breadsticks & marinara was good. We may try again but it won't it be top of our list.

  • Kerri M.

I really liked the pizza here. It was a lot better than Pizza Hut & Papa Johns by far. One thing I didn't like was the Greek Salad. The olives in it were just black olive slices that come from a can that they use on their pizza and they put in way too many. The Cesar Salad was decent, though, but you can't really mess that one up. Another thing I didn't like, delivery was slow as heck. Eventually anytime I ordered from there I would just go pick it up myself. Online ordering is a plus, so that makes up for the slow delivery and everything else, in my opinion.

This was the BEST pizza ever! We'll never go back to Pizza Hut delivery - that may have added an extra boost to our excitement, but wow...so damn good! We ordered the Garlic Chicken and were stunned at how GREAT it was - thick pieces of tender chicken, and the garlic sauce was heaven! The crust was perfect...a true treat. I highly recommend Pizza Nostra, form now on, it's the choice for us when we need a pizza delivered - top knotch!

Way disappointed in this place. With all the great ratings and photos on Yelp, my boyfriend and I thought it would be a good place to try to get our pizza fix. We ordered a double pepperoni pizza. But when we opened the box, all we got was a sad looking pizza. The crust tasted like it had been frozen before, and there was hardly any pepperoni. Luckily they added enough delicious cheese that it was still worth eating.

Food alone is great. Customer service is meh. A bunch of college kids making your pizza and such bare handed. I don't see a sink anywhere near their kitchen (their kitchen is in plain view) This evening instead of reheating my slice, they went a bit "extra crispy" on it. Overall, not bad, but not great.

LOVE this place! I usually get the pesto chicken pizza and they are generous with the toppings, lots of chicken, artichoke hearts, and feta! The crust is the perfect thickness, thin but not so thin to be able to hold the toppings, it's very tasty and chewy. I've had the greek salad which was good and they do not skimp on those ingredients but my favorite is the caprese salad with big, thick slices of mozzarella. I think their prices are very reasonable especially compared to how expensive (and overprice a lot of times) pies are here in P-town.

Pizza Nostra is my go-to delivery spot in NE. Key word is *delivery* there are other great pizza places around the area but they do not deliver! I'm on a quest to find the best pizza in the neighborhood and Pizza Nostra is definitely high on my list for a good classic pie. I like to describe them as a much, much tastier Bellagios. In fact, I ordered last night for a bunch of my friends and no one could stop raving about how delicious it was. PBR may or may not have been a factor in their review last night. All in all: The pizza is GREAT, always hot, they are always on time or early and the price isn't bad either -they usually have deals on their website too...and they DELIVER!

I came home last night and paced around my living room for quite some time, locked in indecision as to what to have for dinner. First world problems, for sure. Thinking perhaps that I'd summon Papa John for some pizza, I found the website and - to my dismay - was out of delivery range. Since 1.5mi is clearly too far to drive after having driven equally as far on my commute home, I fished for other options. Enter Pizza Nostra. I used Yelp's own embedded online ordering system for the first time ever, and it worked like a charm. Within minutes, I'd donated $13.99 for a 12" Margherita, added a 15% gratuity and a 2 liter of Diet Coke to bring the bill past the $15 delivery minimum, and submitted my card info for processing. Roughly 52 minutes later (website said 45-90min), my front door buzzed with excitement. I've uploaded a photo of my pizza - sans one slice due to starvation - for those of you who are on the fence about ordering from Nostra. In short, it was good; better than Papa John's even. The crust was textured and just barely firm with a slight doughiness. Was it bubbly and crispy like some of the more amazing pizzas I've eaten here in Portland? No. But it did the job. Since this was a Margherita pizza, olive oil, fresh mozzarella chunks, tomato slices, and basil strips were the toppings. The tomatoes were good - crisp and fresh - but the basil slices seemed a tad on the aged side. It could very well be that basil simply darkens and dries out quickly once it's chopped? Regardless, it was a good pizza and they only charge a $1 delivery fee.

Ordered a large pizza plus cheese breadsticks for carry-out. Both were delicious. I really enjoyed the red pizza sauce for dipping the breadsticks; my pizza had a pesto base which was pretty good too. They added a good amount of toppings as well. I typically prefer a crisper crust, but I actually liked their traditional softer crust. I will definitely be back.

We live a five minute drive away from this place. We ordered a pizza for delivery on Saturday night at 5:30. As other reviewers have mentioned they tell you delivery could take up to 90 minutes. We thought surely that was just exaggeration, but no! After TWO HOURS AND FORTY FIVE MINUTES we cancelled the order and drove five minutes in the other direction to Domino's. Granted we shouldn't have been so lazy as to order delivery from a place five minutes away, but come on! Just don't offer delivery if you can't do it. Their slow delivery not only cost me two hours of my precious lazy Saturday night, but also forced me to eat at Domino's. I'm scarred for life and will never patronize Pizza Nostra again. Hopefully I will also never eat at Domino's again.

Our family recently moved into the neighbourhood and was looking for a local pizza place to love. We found it in Pizza Nostra! Super yummy and delicious pizza! Everything is spot on, no complains what so ever. We liked Pizza Nostra so much we felt compelled to order again while eating the last slice of our last order.

Consistency is really important. They deliver in a timely manner and the pizza is always good. Was really happy with the gluten free dough too.

I am in love with pizza from here! I have to admit I'm not a pizza connoisseur, but this place rocks! I've gotten several pizzas off their menu and they're all good. My favorite is the Verduer, a vegetarian pizza. I originally tried this place out cuz it's close by my house and had online ordering and delivery. I've also tried their salads which also did not disappoint. I'd like to go into their actual restaurant sometime and order a bunch of single slices of pizza to try things out :) Note: I've only ordered delivery from them (I call my order in) and the longest they've taken is maybe 1/2 hour. I only live about 5 minutes away! One time they came 15 minutes after I called in my order! I'd say long delivery wait times are the exception and not the norm here.

Extremely disappointed with delivery. I would not recommend this establishment. We are huge pizza fans and would have loved to have been regulars. Our experience was so bad, they have sincerely lost our business. Huge bummer!

I'm not one to write negative reviews, especially about businesses in my neighborhood, but my experience at Pizza Nostra was so bad, I just had to let others know. Also, it says to review them on Yelp right on the pizza box. I called in an order for delivery and they said it'd be about an hour wait, but only a half hour if I wanted to pick it up. I showed up a half an hour later and paid $28 bucks and they said it'd be a couple of minutes because they were really busy..fine. Then I realized they hadn't started the pizza yet. I watched the guy make the pizza with his bare hands then put it in the Quiznos-esque conveyer belt style oven. I understand orders slip through the cracks, and had that been the only thing that happened, I wouldn't be writing this review. The dude that made the pizza then proceeds to start helping with the phones. As he's doing this, he's rubbing his hands through his hipster beard and mustache. I'm sure you know what happens next...When the pizza comes out of the "oven", the same guy makes up the box, touches the pizza numerous times and slices it up. I should have said something but I was so shocked/annoyed/hungry I just took my pizza and left. It's too bad this happenned, I've had their pizza delivered numerous times and think that it's decent. This was my first time seeing it made, and it wasn't an appetizing experience.

GREAT for people on special diets. This pizza is the real deal. Not greasy, loaded with toppings & FRESH! There's also something about their sauce, which tastes pretty darn amazing. We think it is because they actually put the appropriate ratio together of crust to sauce to toppings. TIPS: -Daiya cheese available for those non-dairy or vegan types -Gluten-free pizza available in a LARGE size -You can order online through eat24.com -Beware: keeping with their specialty pizzas can save some money; making your own with added toppings will make the pizza price soar

I just moved to Portland and had absolutely no clue who to call for delivery. I could have gone for the old standbys of Round Table or Domino's.. but I wanted to find something uniquely local. I admit it was a risk (found them on the Eat24 app) but it was a risk that paid off. Huge. One of the best pizzas I've ever had. The Maui with bacon, BBQ chicken, onions, pineapple, etc... was amazing! I went for the Ceasar salad, as well... and it was fantastic! I am currently awaiting my second delivery from Pizza Nostra and have all the faith that my first experience will be repeated. Definitely try these folks...

After a horrible pizza experience last night, I still had a craving. Yeah, I sometimes eat pizza two nights in a row, don't judge! My husband said he frequently buys pies from this place for work, so I decided to give it a shot. Holy hell, I'm glad I did! He had told me the pizzas were so huge the employees had to help him with the front doors, as the box won't fit through one. It barely fit in our (not small) car, so make sure you come with an appropriate vehicle! He had also warned me that the place didn't look like much from the outside. Again true. Don't judge a book, blah blah blah. The 24" cheese pizza we got was gigantic and tasty, with great crust and no need for enhancement (parm, salt, whatever). Service was fast and friendly. It wasn't gourmet, but it was what I was after. For $16, it definitely deserves all stars available for taste, value, and service. As far as the reviews complaining about lack of restroom, I'm confused; this is obviously a takeout place. Why would they have one?

Amazing Stromboli! I made a really complex order, and at first they got the sauce wrong. I chatted with their nice online support lady and they had a fresh pizza out to me in 30 minutes! Pizza was great and lots of gluten free and veggie options. Easy eat24 online ordering and fast delivery with great customer service.

4.5 stars~ My family and I have been doing hot yoga in the same building complex and decided to try Pizza Nostra. And boy are we glad we did! I would have to say one of the best pizza places I've been to. Honestly, from the outside it doesn't look like much and is easy to look over but I assure you, the pizza is delicious. Flavors are on blast. We tried the Pesto Pollo (pesto sauce, mozzarella cheese, grilled chicken, feta, tomatoes, roasted garlic, artichoke hearts) and the Maui Chicken (BBQ sauce, mozzarella cheese, BBQ chicken, crispy bacon, pineapple, red onions). Both were on point! Flavorful with unique topping combinations. And the best part - THE DOUGH!!! Perfect, fluffy, airy dough with the chewy fresh quality. By far the best pizza dough I've had. I watched them hand toss the pizza dough which means its definitely gonna be good. The crispy bacon on the Maui Chicken was the perfect dosage of saltiness on the sweet BBQ flavor. You can build your own pizzas here too! Check out the toppings list, quite extensive and unique... like cashews and eggplant? Holy cow. They are locally owned and operated. The sad part is, we were there during the dinner hour and it didn't seem very busy... Unfortunate because more people should know about this place!! Please go support this business, you'll be glad. I promise :)

This review is based on their gluten-free, vegan pizza. The gluten-free crust far exceeded my expectations! It tasted very fresh and delicious. The pizza was a bit pricey for the size, but I ate the whole pie and it left me full and I did not feel gross afterwards!

Low selection of slices for Saturday afternoon (2 slices total). Killer cheese pizza. Loved eating it walking through the neighborhood.

"It looks good. I'm excited... but it might be a little too large" For the first time, I originated this thought instead of hearing it voiced by another. They're having a take-out deal here: 24" cheese pie for $16. It comes in a comically huge box that barely fit in my car. Still not sure what they do here that allows them to break my normal 3-star ceiling for a screen and electric conveyor oven. But it works.

The pizza is only OK. My fiance and I ordered their LA carnivore. The dough seemed slightly undercooked and the meat quality was not great. Maybe their other varieties are better but I don't think we'll be ordering again.

  • Davey D.

Gosh I love the pizza here. The service and delivery is quick and John (or is it Josh?) and Kenny are hilarious and friendly. One of the best pizza places in Portland hands down.

    (5)
  • Rachael T.

The crust is doughy and the toppings were of marginal quality. The basil was burned on the edges, the "roasted garlic" was just thinly sliced garlic put on top, and they skiimped on the cheese. The staff is friendly, delivery was easy, but considering the other options, we won't be calling this place again.

  • Jason G.

They are my friendly neighborhood pizza place, so they get an extra star for that. It's nothing special really, especially because I'm more partial to Chicago style pizza. I don't think I'll ever have that again it seems like. A Anyway, you can order online, which is nice, and if you're anywhere close to the Fremont the delivery is really quick. They have gluten-free mediums, and for some reason I just like gluten free more on pizza. Again, its nothing special at all, don't trek across town to try it out. If you're walking by and want a slice of pizza though, you could do worse.

We didn't have their pizza but we had some wings. It was a game trying to find meat around so much fat. Pretty awful. Delicious breadsticks but stay away from the wings.

I come here strictly for the 26" carryout deal. $17.99! Fantastic price and the pizza is awesome. The cheese is cooked quite well and the crust tastes marvelous; both of those are essential to having a good pizza. I have yet to try anything else on the menu, and I think I'm okay with that. Thank you, Pizza Nostra.

    (5)
  • Maja R.

ABSOLUTELY A(FREAKING)MAZING. Its insanely delicious and the carry out cheese pizza is HUGE, and I am talking the biggest pizza you ever seen huge, I have never personally had NEW YORK style pizza from new york, but this is what I imagine it would be like, fold-able wonderful tasty pie slices. I also got The Freemont in a Medium and it was very very very good as well. I will be coming back again and again for this pizza. IT WAS THAT GOOD!!!!! And the prices are affordable for "artsy" pizza!!! A++++++++

My friend and I are here in Portland on vacation to attend a Harry Potter convention (YEP!), so we decided to order something to be delivered to our hotel through a website called eat24hours.com . First, she is vegetarian so we said we'd do a half and half thing. I was actually going to get extra cheese on my half so that no meat juices would contaminate her half by accident (I wanted pepperoni) but they didn't have extra cheese as a topping! So I said fine go with pepperoni on my half. After the pizza arrived, we opened it to find both halves covered in pepperoni...I don't know how they could get a typed order wrong that reads half cheese half pepperoni. Well, she picked off the pepperoni from one slice and ate it but it still tasted pretty bad. Oh, it gets worse...the pizza gave me food poisoning. Never again.

We don't get much pizza any more (salt intake), so when we do, we count it a treat! We tried Pizza Nostra as they were close to home and delivered (bonus!) and had good reviews. We ordered a 'Hawaiian' which stated it had the usual Canadian bacon and pineapple, but also BACON! We ordered and were given a deliver time of between 45 and 90 minutes. I think it came in less than the lower estimate. Upon opening the box, we were immediately disappointed. The 'bacon' on the pizza was turkey bacon. I did not recall seeing that as being the ingredient on the description. The 'Canadian bacon' on the pizza was suspect as being turkey bacon, as well. When you are expecting crispy bacon (as described other another review), this is NOT acceptable. Another disappointment was the pizza crust was doughy and not cooked completely. We had to put it in the oven for 10 minutes to get it to finish cooking. Overall, disappointing, to say the least.

BEST GLUTEN FREE PIZZA EVER!!! Sooo good. Their crust isn't cracker crunchy like Hotlips,Dominos, and Pizzacato. This is soft like a real pizza should be and their cheese is real chesse unlike dominos. For the gluten intolerant and vegan they have Daiya as well. worth the $16 for a medium

There are a lot of great Pizza places in the Portland area, and it's great to see another one pop up like Pizza Nostra. I stumbled upon this place while taking a walk in the Fremont district and decided to get a slice of Pepperoni and a Slice of Garlic Chicken. They sell Pizza by the slice during lunch hour. I thought I was going to be disappointed since they had to reheat the slices but after I took my first bite, I was sold. The Pepperoni was just right, with the perfect amount of salt, crispiness and texture, the sauce was just the right amount and the dough was perfect. I loved the amount of cheese I got and it tasted like 100% mozeralla. The garlic chicken had a white base sauce with just the right amount of garlic without killing the palate. Great pizza and a great friendly atmosphere. Gotta love having another great Pizza place in Portland.

As a pizza aficionado, I'm not adverse to sea salt, truffle oil, duck egg, and Italian meats on my pie. Yet, I also have the occasional hankering for "old school", when pineapple and Canadian were considered edgy and new age. Pizza Nostra offers just that: no frills and quality taste on a non wafer-thin crust. I recently had the worst slice at a food cart (see other review), so not all simple traditional pizza is alike. The owner seems cool and parking shouldn't be too much of a problem. I don't understand the concept of driving to the pizza place, then cooking it yourself when you get home. So order from Pizza Nostra or have it delivered, done.

This is the best pizza I have had in a very long time.... maybe ever. I called the restaurant halfway through eating it to tell them just how good it is! I got a garlic cream pizza with mushrooms, black olives, artichoke, and eggplant... it is amazing! Perfect just the way it is, and needs no sauce or anything. I got delivery and it was less than the time that EAT 24 said it would take. I highly recommend this establishment to all.

mediocre pizza. same ol same ol. Salty. There are way better options such as Fire On The Mountain down the street. Their delivery drivers are speeders as well. The speed limit is 20mph people. There are pedestrians, children, blind turns onto Fremont. Please respect the neighborhood. I live walking distance from Nostra and find myself craving pizza often. I would rather hop on my bike or jump in my car for better options. It is not horrible, don't get me wrong. There are just better options for flavor and price. I see huge pizzas being carried out of there all the time. I believe that shtick is what is keeping them open. Please slow down (yes I have talked to them about this personally). Also do us a favor and turn off your neon signs at night ( i have not talked to them about this). You are facing houses and it is quite annoying.

No bathroom for customers? Are you kidding me? At a restaurant that serves food that you eat with your hands, there is no sink that we are allowed to use? Pretty sure that's not legal, especially if you have seating (which this place most certainly does). Can't tell you how the pizza is, because I canceled my order and walked out when they refused to let me use the restroom. I went down the street to grab a burrito at Cha Cha Cha's instead.

Decent local neighborhood place that delivers. Got some sort of combo pizza and the toppings were pretty generous and decent quality. This is a basic place that serves basic pies, don't expect any exotic toppings or fancy named dough or whatever. The delivery time was acceptable as well, around 30 minutes I think (not like the 1.5 hours + that you get with hot lips). Not bad. Not good. Average utilitarian pizza.

NOW WITH ONLINE ORDERING!! I am a huge fan of anything I can order online and now Pizza Nostra has my undying love and devotion because they now have online ordering! My kids LOVE their pizza and the fact that they deliver is outstanding. I'm branching out by ordering salads and chicken wings this time...hopefully they are as good as the pizza is.

Have been 3 times. Would have given it 5 stars, but everytime, something has been a little burnt...once it was the garlic topping; another time, one 10th of the pizza (edge), and last time, the breadsticks (about 1/5). Otherwise, very good -- thin crust, fresh incredients. Good service.

This is some great pizza... I had the meat carnivore which was quite meaty as one might hope.. and let me say it didnt disappoint. I was not as happy with the size of the pizza.(8 slices for $15) but I guess you can choose either good pizza or a lot of it. This place I think blew MS pizza out of the water. Although they are good, but there's just not a whole lot to separate them from pizza schmizza. Which is unlike PNostra. The red sauce has to be the best sauce I've ever had a on a pizza. It tasted garlic-y and sweet and was just fantastic. The meat was good as well, crunchy bacon, good pepperoni, great sausage. the ham wasn't my favorite but it still was good... This definitely isn't a place like MS pizza if you want to sit down and eat and all that. Its more of a take out place... My wife got the garlic chicken one, and she was going nuts cause of the feta, so i can assume she would have given it a 4 - 5 stars as well... (I'm the only 5-5 in her world) I will say I was surprised as to how good it was. After looking at the reviews of the place in Cali I was a little nervous to try it but it definitely lived up to any hype there might be. The reason, aha. everyone wants to know the reason that its 4 stars.. "Jordan if your saying its this good but only four stars why bother?" well my friends its simple... This place is better the MS pizza, Pizzacato, on any other pizza place that you might grease your innards with. But I have heard rumors and mublings about apizza schools. and I just cant bare to give this a 5 till i try a few more pies. So if the 4 star thing is killing you just check back soon and see if they have been able to change my mind....

All right, I have to admit that I did not expect this pizza to be good. I thought it would be one of those "cheap and cheerful" joints, ala Little Caesars. Well, I am happy to tell you that I was completely wrong. Pizza Nostra makes a really nice pizza, the delivery is speedy, and the customer service is great. The two things we order again and again are: PIZZA PICANTE--a super spicy and meatily-delicious pizza featuring spicy red sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, jalapeño, tomatoes, red onions, bell pepper, and sausage. Oh, how I crave this spicy goodness! PIZZA AMORE--a delicious and satisfying vegetarian pizza with thick, delicious eggplant on top of red sauce, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, with roasted garlic, red onion, and fresh basil. We also like their garlic breadsticks, which are the only thing that reminds us of Little Caesar, circa 1988, when Little Caesar actually had GOOD breadsticks.

  • Cody W.

They've perfected thin crust. Somehow it's simultaneously crisp & flaky, yet foldable. Generous toppings, big servings, reasonable slice rates, friendly service. Biggest drawback for a lunch spot is the horribly claustrophobic seating. Otherwise, enthusiastic recommendation.

Just so everyone knows, I joined Yelp just to be able to write this review! What HORRIBLE customer service. Called for delivery of a pizza and salad to my hotel room. The order process went well (save for the fact that they did not take AMEX even though the in-room menu said they did). I gave them all of my info including the hotel I was in, the hotel phone number and my room number. I gave them my credit card number but they never asked for my name. I thought it was a little strange at the time, but wrote it off to the way that they did business. I was told that the delivery would be in 60-90 minutes. At the 90 minute mark, I called the restaurant to ask for an update. I was told that the driver left 20-25 minutes prior, but that they were a long way away so it was taking some time and that he would be there soon. At 120 minutes, I again called. They said that they wrote down the wrong room number and that they had no way to contact me but that the guy was close to the hotel. I verified the correct room number and asked them about the possibility of the pizza being cold. I was assured that they had warming carriers and that it would not be a problem. Approximately 5 minutes later, the knock on the door signaled the arrival of the meal. As I was handing back the signed receipt, I asked about a knife and fork. I got a blank stare in reply. I told the delivery guy that those items would be needed to eat my salad. He replied that he wasn't told that those were needed and then stared at me again. I asked him to please get them so that I could eat my meal. He said that he would go get them for me right away. 5 minutes later, the front desk clerk of the hotel brought up plates, cutlery and napkins. When I opened the pizza and salad I was not surprised to find that both items were the same temperature: room! Luckily, the hotel room had a microwave so I could at least heat up the pizza but I had to endure the lukewarm salad. Needless to say, I would NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone that is expecting delivery or even minimal customer service. Not once during any of the phone calls or the actual delivery was any sort of an apology offered. I will also be stopping at the front desk tomorrow to let them know that they should remove the menus from the room. AVOID THIS RESTAURANT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!

My first time ordering here... for delivery. It's a Sunday evening and the order-taking person told us to expect it in about 45 minutes... this didn't happen because, for some strange reason, they have only one driver working. Isn't it football season or something? Holidays are coming up and people are taking their PTO or what-have-you.. so, waiting over an hour was a little frustrating when we were given an expectation after a few follow up phone calls. all that nonsense aside, this is an excellent pizza. it arrived nice and fresh, not too hot... but not like it had been to 3 other deliveries previously... so the frustration evaporated. Opened the box and revealed probably one of the most beautiful pies I've seen in Portland to date. I expect most places on Fremont to be pretty lush... so I wasn't surprised. The toppings are rich in color and full of actual flavor.. not super salty or cheap.. we ordered the Nostra Combination with a Pesto base sauce (which tastes as if it were made in-house)... we were also compensated for the lateness. This place is cool. You should eat the food that's made here.

Great pizza but even better service. The woman answering the phones was impeccable. The spinach salad was a refreshing change from the regular "garden salad" fare, and the ham pizza was delicious. Delivery was quick and courteous as well. We will definitely order from them again.

I used to go there when it was a Round Table so when Pizza Nostra came in, I didn't have high hopes. My wife and I ended up trying it when we saw a groupon or something like that and we were completely blown away at the quality. The crust was crispy yet chewy and the toppings were excellent. We've since eaten their pizza a few times and it has always been great. Once for pick up I waited about 10 minutes longer than expected, but lately they seem to be faster. Look, I like my pizza. Flying Pie, DaVivi, Ken's, and Scholls.... Honestly, Pizza Nostra is right up there. It's too bad they don't have a better building as eating in isn't much of an option. But the pizza is good and that's what counts.

I'd really like for this to be a three star place, because it's less than a block from my house but even as far as cheap corner pizza joints go, this place needs to learn some things. The first thing is that there is no crime in cooking a pizza a little bit, if everything is still all white and doughy and gooey, it might appeal to a little kid but an adult prefers to chew their food. The second thing is that pizza sauce shouldn't really be sweet. If it is, you're gonna need something to counter that, like I don't know, maybe a dozen different things come to mind. Finally, and most egregiously, If I order ham on a pizza, or anywhere else for that matter, I'm not gonna feel like I've been given an extra special bonus if I get something besides cured, sliced pork leg. I don't care if it's cheap, from Safeway, with 20% water and sodium erythorbate or whatever they put in it besides salt and nitrate, it should resemble pork leg. A thick- sliced forcemeat is not what I'm asking for when I order "ham." I'm fine with regular old American cheap pizza, but it needs to show a little love. Who would even think that buying some "ham product" is an okay alternative to regular ham?

Great pizza and great service. The guys at pizza nostra are great. The pizza is always well made and is delivered within the time they give. Their salads are really good too. Prices aren't bad. One of the best pizza delivery places near our house!

Pizza Nostra you the BOMB! I asked for a "well done" pizza with the world best combo of pepperoni, pineapple and jalapenos (Don't judge it until you've tried it. It's the BEST combo ever) and Pizza Nostra delivered on the money! Best pie I've had for my money in Portland. It did take an hour for delivery . . . but they are new so I give some slack in that area. Great Za. See you soon. Love your new repeat customer.

I went in to get a large 18'' cheese pizza for carry out and the guy behind the counter actually up-sold me to a 24'', for less money. When I got the pizza home I was elated with the taste and the quality, not to mention that I had lunch for the next couple of days. I will defiantly order from them again. I am bringing this to the next football game for sure!!!!!
