I'd been to OMalleys many times, but always just to grab a beer and sit outside. This time, we came here aiming to watch the Timbers game, but still have a place that is kid friendly. It worked out perfect! Probably 80% of the bar is 21 and up with pool tables, a long bar and plenty of seating. The other 20% is a sliver in the front that has arcade games, a projector and space for kids to play. It worked out very well. We could watch the Timbers on a large projector screen while our niece played games. The staff was very friendly. Food is average, not bad, not amazing. Overall, great local dive, friendly staff, kid friendly area, lots of games, decent food.....will def be our spot for Timbers games now. And they have a virtual putt putt golf game that is surprisingly really fun!

Hidden Gem...first time here and I have to say I think I might just become a regular. Consistent service , great drinks and amazing food. The cheese and bacon fondue was orgasmic! I like the vibe on a weeknight and can't wait to see what the live music brings on a weekend. The owner was great as well.

This "LOSER" Glen E. Wallace is the owner at this place and had the nerve to treat me a good customer like an asshole. The audacity for you to call a neighborhood customer a loser. That is terrible customer service. I'm still mad about my drink with no liquor for 9.25 but for you to go on YELP and call me a "loser" completely unacceptable as a business owner. I will be sure tell everyone I know how he is treated at this establishment.

Rude bartenders! Slow service. Go somewhere else...anywhere else except here. We made the mistake of stopping by this bar thinking it could be a nice dive bar. We waited 20 minutes for a drink and when my husband asked if they could serve us, the bartender suggested we go somewhere else....so we did. BuBye!

I really dig this place. Great space cool layout. Good draft beer selection and they also carry gluten free beer now (Widmer Omission in Bottles) Walking into any typical dive bar that offers pizza you'd expect a piece of cardboard with ketchup as pizza sauce and melted white plastic for cheese, and scarf it down thinking nothing of it. Not here, The pizza is decent. If you put it up against all of the dive bars that serve pizza in Portland its top notch Bar pizza. If you put it against every pizza shop in portland its just average. But better than any pizza chain crap. (dominos, pizza hut) I suppose after a few too many drinks ones concept of quality slides and pizza goes from "decent" to "the best I've ever had!!!!" It happens. The Pizza Oven appears to be a Natural Gas Stone Hearth oven.... not wood fired. Service is friendly if you are. Prices are good. Jackalope is in full effect! 3 pool tables with ample space Pool is not free, its $6 an hour. Looking at the menu, I'm still wondering why its called a "grill", as maybe one of the items appear to be prepared using one. Curious....

Friggin' perfect! Strong drinks, damn tasty pizza and really nice folks. A girlfriend and I did an informal taste test between O'Malley's and Gemini across the street and O'Malley's wins hands down. So much so that after we had tarnished our nice buzz and yummy goodness by trying out the digs across the street we felt compelled to confess back at the bar at O'Malley's. Forgive us bartender, for we have sinned. We promise to never venture to the other side of Foster again. Amen!

I've been here twice and both times were really great. You expect to get the "eye" at places like this when you're the new people walking in, but neither patrons nor staff stared us down. The bar staff was nice and helpful with the pizza menu. Pretty good selection of food and beer. The pizza was really good too. It tastes really fresh and a 10inch pizza is perfect for my girlfriend and I to share. The second time we went there the pizza chef confessed to us that when he was retrieving the pizza from the oven he had caused the pie to slide violently and all the toppings shifted to one side. He fixed it and even offered to give us a free pie. We didn't except the free pie since this one looked just fine, but it was nice that he has that much pride in his pizza and is that honest. Still tasted good. Free pool on the end table, and cool music on the jukebox. We plan to go here every Friday night.

Good drinks and fantastic pizza! Weekday happy hour (from 3-6pm) offers a pint of micro and a fresh oven-baked pizza for $10. What a deal! I frequent here often and think Scott is a great pizza maker. They offer unusual toppings (asparagus, grilled onions, etc) and the pizza is thin crust heaven! Right now they've got a raspberry micro that's fabulous too. Veggie and vegan friendly too. If you're chatting with the staff, ask them to tell you the story about how they got the pizza oven INTO the building. Also, don't look too closely at the carpet- it's RANK! But the owner opted for the new pizza oven over new carpeting- and I can't say I blame him cuz the pizza is awesome! I'm not a pool player but there are always empty tables and plenty of room to spread out for a group. Ladies, check out the "skinny" mirror in the bathroom- I keep coming back just for that!

Dang mane the best beer and pizza in town fasho. Like frfr . Also the hottest waitress in all of Portlandia. Hotter than all "suns out buns out" wannabe California prostitotz stripping near the square. Naymsayn? Like hotter than the alternadudes hot girlfriend who plays in that electro folk punk band that you wouldn't know the name of. I think I saw her at a house show on 9th and Alberta a few years ago. Idk. Pizza is almost as good as tributes but nothing beats that. Rip tributes. Man I wish music millennium was still around in nw Portland that was my jam. Go here if ur looking 4 a good time.

I wish that I could give zero stars for piss - poor service and attitude alone. The atmosphere was just ok. Unfortunately, that is all that I have to comment on. I never got as far as having anyone take my order after standing at the bar for 17 minutes. When one of the three people behind the counter decided that they could be bothered to help customers again after several minutes of watching two of them move glasses around and shuffle receipts, he decided to start with the couple that had just sat down 90 seconds before. Had I been the next customer in line, I might have continued to say nothing, but there was a lone, young woman to my left that had been waiting even longer than me. I tried to point out to the obese bartender that she had been waiting longer than all of us, he began to talk over me louder and tell me they are very busy. (It wasn't THAT busy) He seemed to think that is an excuse for horrendous customer service. I have worked many years in service industries and trained employees on customer service. I understand that chores must be kept up with. I am not unreasonable. Just communicate that, or as is sometimes said with children, "Use your words". What would make all the difference is, if the wait staff looses track of who is next, you simply just ask. He seemed very offended that the other customer and i disapproved and shouted that maybe I should go somewhere else if I want better service. I replied that I was thinking about it and after he raised his voice at me again, I told him the customer service there sucks. He then told me that I suck. Lol. We walked out. I swear on all that is holy that I will never return to this place. If I want abuse from a bartender, I will go to a bar I actually like and will get good service while they are being surly to me. That is the Portland way! Unless you are in a particularly masochistic mood, I suggest taking a pass on this one!

Decent place to get a drink and good food out of the brick oven. If like to understand how they randomly charge $5\hr for pool vs when it is free. The pool tables and equipment are in bad shape. The free pool used to bring me in, but I can play for 50 cents a game at Slingshot on MUCH better equipment.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You must try the bacon cheese dip!!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! The wood oven fired, artisanal bacon filed cheese dip, served with house made herb fucatia bread! Made in a wood fired oven. The same wood oven that their Napoli style pizza is made in!!!! If you are not currently throbbing with a food boner than there is something wrong with you..... Cold Beer....Full Bar......BEST PIZZA IN PORTLAND......Juke Box Full of Punk Rock!!!!...... and pinball

Friendly, quick bartender. We live in the neighborhood and figured we'd get a drink at a dive-y bar and what's better than an Irish named bar? The pizza here is AMAZING. You wouldn't think you'd get good pizza at some crappy bar, but it's incredibly good. Brick oven pizza & it's thin crust. Mac & cheese was delicious, too...and cheap @ 12 per pizza and 6 for mac n cheese. One star less because the music is effing horrible.

I was treated very very poorly by the owner of this bar. I came in to grab a beer with a couple of my buddies a couple weeks back, initially when I walked in I really felt like the bar had a cool vibe, so far so good, then I grab a beer from the bartender/owner, he was very short with me and just overall put off a negative vibe, no worries, I'm not there to make friends with the owner and being super quiet and frowning constantly isn't enough to deter me. So I grab my beer, tip him a dollar, I say thanks (he says nothing to me) and proceed over to play a little video poker, I play for about 20 minutes then cash out and head over to the bar to redeem my lotto tickets, I have 5 lotto tickets, I hand them to him and ask him nicely if he can cash these out for me, he looks at me and says "5 of them at once?!" In a super rude tone, I'm a bit put off at this statement, but I thought he may be joking around, I responded cordially with "oh yeah haha sorry I just like to play different machines", he is turned around at this point adding my tickets together (mind you, this is very simple math, I assure you it isn't hard), then out of nowhere he raises his voice and says "I'm not your damn accountant!", again I thought he might be joking with me because I would not imagine that someone would treat a customer this way, so I laughed, because I literally thought he was trying to be funny, so then he turns his head over his shoulder and says "that wasn't a joke either". I was literally so blown away by how this guy acted toward me, I could not believe it, I got my cash from my tickets and left about 15 minutes later. It's sad because I would have definitely gone back to this bar because I truly like the way it was set up and the whole vibe was awesome, but the owner (Glen) just totally treated me horrible for absolutely no reason and I would just never go back to that bar again without being apologized to, I'm not sure if he was having a bad day but that was just unacceptable.

Been here three times now... Kind of a classic SEP bar, good beer prices, Hamms on tap, pizza is amazing, music is honestly not my taste but if you like hard rock music you wont mind it, music is a bit too loud for my taste. Pool tables and video poker.

This bar has the absolute worst bartender whom I guess is the owner, he and the gal behind the bar ignored me for 20 minutes, the only reason I stayed was because I had friends there I really wanted to be with. When the guy who gave 1 star on the 17th stood up for me the bartender was super rude, it wasn't that busy AT ALL I mean OMG he was just a super rude and yelled. I ordered 3 drinks so I wouldn't have to go back to the bar again, just hang with my friends and get out of there. Never going back ever. Don't waste your time unless you go at high noon when there are only three people in there - apparently they can handle that level of a crowd without going crazy on customers. I watched them wash the bar twice when it was completely clean, push around receipts, pour a beer for an entire 5 minutes. Never have I been less impressed and the bartender/owner is clearly unhappy and doesn't appreciate paying, patient customers.

Ordered a pepperoni pizza (it was on their special menu) and let's just say Little Caesar's is gourmet compared to what I got. The pizza was as thin as a sheet, which be fine if it was good, but if you're going to marinate your pizza in grease your crust should have a little more substance to it for it to hold up. It was so floppy that you couldn't even fold it in half length wise as you would a New York style pie. The grease flowed from each slice like tears of disappointment. I paid $16.50 for something likely to give my friends and me mudbutt - I feel ripped off and my wallet violated.

Great bar. Open at 3pm, cool staff and owner. I've only been here right at opening due to my job in beer sales. I was told they have amazing pizza. Great for groups. Good draft line up. Fun dive right on Foster. Beautiful TVs.

I love me a great Portland dive, but O'Malley's I think can do better. The heavy metal was so loud we were shouting at our table and couldn't hear each other. The bartender didn't speak to us the entire time, which is one thing, but the drinks weren't anything to write home over. Honestly, if you're wanting a good dive, I can think of many better. On a side note, a lot of my reviews are based on service. I feel when I'm paying money and tipping well, I expect to be treated at least decent.

Great pizza option in Foster Powell. Don't be fooled by the "it's a sports bar" exterior, they serve some seriously good pizza here. I tried the Tre Carne ($17 for a 14") which comes with high quality pepperoni, mild italian sausage and salami on thin crust. It was every bit as good as my other favorite Portland pizza, Gladstone St. Pizza, and was about $6 less. The bar itself is a divey sports bar with tvs and pool tables, so not really my scene if I'm not in the mood to catch a game, but definitely worth it to try the pizza.

I'm a fan of O'Malley's and not just because it has two apostrophes. I was Yelping for a new bar because the bars near my house are a little played out. O'Malley's came up because it was open til 2 (not a lot of places are on a Thursday, I learned). I also saw in their pictures, they had pizza which seemed less like bar food and more like something I might actually eat when the sun was out. I ordered two drinks, though I never knew how much they were because I never got an itemized receipt. I probably could've asked for one. I probably could've asked ahead of time. I didn't. And I didn't. But it was kind of annoying playing the "Guess the Tab" game while cashing out. And it was kiiiinda steep. Two menu items and four drinks (two cocktails, 2 beers, maybe three beers?) was $34 before tip. I know the cost of the food was around $10. I did order 2 call drinks (New Deal + Ginger) so I knew they wouldn't be free or anything but that did seem steep. That said, I was a happy little clam here. There were pool tables. Window seating (I love people watching, esp at a bar). Cool bartender (except for the Price is What game). There were some noisy drunks but a simple relocation made them feel blocks away. Pretty good music on the juke, as I recall. A few tvs. I'd go back but I have to drive and that's a bit of a bummer remix. But I like this area of Foster. And I think I'll make O'Malley's one of my little haunts.

You know those chicks that kind of look a little nasty on the outside but once you get their clothes off, they are pretty hot? O'Malleys is the dive bar equivilent of that 36 year old chick that looks seedy but can lay it down like a champ. The outside is in a shitty part of town, and has some bad graffiti art on the walls. Once you get inside it is a much different story. The place is very big for what it looks like. The tables, bar, and walls are made of really thick stained wood and it has a really rustic vibe to it. There is some pretty bizzare art on the wall. Some really cool, some amusingly bad. The music choices are great, and it doesnt overwhelm any conversation. There is a pretty big selection of beers, including some gluten free that I tried. They were all priced low. The food was typical bar food and some really good wood fired pizza. The service was decent. Could have been a bit faster but I have had way worse. The bartender and pizza guy were very friendly and helpful. Overall, this is a really cool place. I think the exterior really scares a lot of people off. Its a nice little find if you grow the balls to actually go in the joint. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes finding little hidden treasure type places.

went here because it has 4 stars. Ordered the margherita pizza. Literally the worst pizza i've had yet. Dry (no sauce), grocery store-type shredded cheese. It genuinely tastes like cardboard. no metaphor here. yuck. Oh, and the online menu says it's $15 but they charged me more...and I tipped! what a sucker...

A great local bar. It is impossible to complain about free foos ball for one. And, also their pizza oven, and their hand tossed dough produces some pretty tasty pizza and pesto bread sticks (during the late hours). I've tried the creme brulee stout on tap, and that was interesting. As well as their Geneve Creme Soda ale in short bottles for $1.75. And, Mikey the bar tender is pretty rad too. I definitely recommend this bar to anyone that finds themselves in the neighborhood of SE Foster.

New since my last visit: - Fresh and fantastic pizza with the wooden paddles and the big oven and everything. - Some kinda blood orange / marionberry ciders that reminded me (in a good way) of the mimosa I'd had earlier in the day. There before, but unforgivably unsung earlier: - A jackalope. I'm still loving the pleasant surprise of this place. And while you can't see it from the outside, for a lazy weekend afternoon pub, O'Malley's just went from 4 to 4.5 stars on my internal scoring chart.

This place is awesome! It's got that homey dive feel, and is true to the sign "we put the neighbor back in hood" Glenn and Mike are the staples behind the bar. Cranking out drinks, and some of the best pizza in Portland. They've got a brick pizza that bakes delicious cheesy morsels. The margarita my favorite and the pepperoni is perfect. And for the late night hours the grinders are perfect.

I liked this bar. It had a cool layout and atmosphere. The beer selection was good and prices reasonable. My friend ordered pizza, which came topped with sliced sausage links and black olives. The crust was thin and crispy and sauce was smooth and not too tomato-pasty. I also thought the fresh grated Parmesan that came with the pie was a nice touch. My only beef was with the surly dude manning the bar. When me and my two friend arrived he was in the back and the pizza cook said he would be with us momentarily. No big deal. When he came out front, instead of greeting us with a hello, he simply grunted "Who was here first?". We were the only ones at the bar so I ordered my beer. He poured me a glass of the wrong beer and then when I told him what I really wanted he rolled his eyes before pouring me the correct pint. I would have given this place four stars if the barkeep wasn't being a dick.

This place is a well kept secret and I almost don't wanna share it. On the other hand, I do want to support my local neighborhood businesses so that they stay open. So, I will say that if you love pinball and Neil Diamond on the juke, this is the place! Also, a great beer selection, yummy pizza, and the owner, Mikey, is about as sweet as they come.

Love it! AWESOME oven roasted pizza. A man's jukebox and 3 pool tables. Pinball in a separate room. Loud rocking music on Saturday nights. I enjoy the gruff owner and his waitstaff, gonna have to get to know them. Best cheesy pesto bread ever. WOW the pizza is awesome. Always wonderful draft beer to choose from. it changes up. This place is always chilly but comfortable. Don't bring your gramma or softies.

I was lured to O'Malleys by the 'Fun On Foster' event a few weeks back. Part two of their live painting event (featuring 4 local artists painting murals to music) brought me there once more. The atmosphere is very nice - totally different that I expected. The beer selection was STELLAR. Being one of only a very few Portland bars that had both Lagunitas Brewing Company's Little Sumpin' Sumpin' beer on tap AND Ninkasi Brewing Company's Nugg E Fresh (Fresh Hop Ale in limited release) I was in beer heaven. The cocktail was stiff, but GOOD. The event was really cool and I am both surprised and excited that this establishment is on SE Foster. Can't wait to head back there!

i just got back from o'malley's and i will never go again. i asked for a shot of jameson, i paid 5.75 for that shot and it was something yucky, that was definitely not jemeson. so, reluctantly i approach the bartender. i say "i don't mean to offend you but i asked for a shot of jameson and i got something that wasn't." (and yes, there was still most of the shot in my glass....in case you were wondering to yourself.) he pulls out the bottle of jameson and starts getting really snotty with me. he's pouring me another shot but he says "LOOK, i'm pouring you the jameson right from the jameson bottle." i thanked him and politely asked if maybe they had poured another whiskey in the jameson bottle......which they obviously had for my first shot b/c i'd sat at the bar and watched him. then he gets even snottier and says "how dare you accuse me." i said "i wasn't accusing i was just asking a question." he didn't want to hear it. it was so rude. and the bar was pretty boring. AND my friend ordered a chicken sandwhich and it made her sick. it's so sad. i thought o'malley's was going to be fun. i expected good whiskey and raucous good fun. but it was all cranky and bad whiskey. and let me tell you something, i'm a good time on wheels. i could start a rager at bingo night at the old lady's home. so for me to say an irish put is boring, that's a big dea, especially when i'm out indulging in the beverage.

If you want killer pizza...this is the place to be! I love the Wallace pizza which has bacon, peppers, pepperoni, and fresh sauce and lots of cheese. Each pizza is hand tossed fresh and has fresh and tasty ingredients. There is a nice variety of tasty beers on tap and your choice of several different hipster tall boys. I love to play pool, pinball and Foosball! The jukebox is always rockin' and has the greatest tracks! I highly recommended this place and think it is the best pizza in town!

O'Malley's is an awesome local bar...They have a fantastic rotating selection of beers on tap...fancy beer and low-brow. What you wouldn't imagine from looking at it from the outside, is that they have freakin delicious pizza...not just "i'm drunk and pizza's good comfort food" style...really good. They have a wood fired oven and the crusts are thin and crispy. Toppings are high quality and delicious.

O'Malley's was unquestionably a solid 4 or even 5 in my book not so very long ago. Stiff, cheap drinks; free pool; friendly bartenders; great patrons; good music - it had it all. It still has a lot of these things. But there seems to be a new kind of crowd coming in nowadays for various shows and such. I don't know if these shows were always happening and I just never noticed or if they're a newer thing - either way, made the mistake of showing up for a casual, low-key night of hanging out at one of my favorite bars on the same night as one of these shows. It's not that the band was bad - they were alright. But they pushed back the pool tables to make room for the band so no one could play anymore, they closed off one of the doors and had people walk around the side, thereby also making it near impossible to play foosball since it meant you would partially block that walkway, and the place got more crowded than I've ever seen it - great for business I'm sure, but not so great for a regular. We waited 20 minutes just to close our tab. It was horrible. So, my advice? Go there, it's great, you'll really enjoy it. But if you're like me, and you prefer a more casual atmosphere where you can actually talk to the people you're with and hear them talking to you, and if you want to be able to play pool - just don't go when there's a show. In fact, the weekends in general are a time to avoid. Except Sunday nights, which are awesomely low-key. Two last things. Mondays are Heavy Metal Mondays so you might want to avoid that if you're not into it. And it is really smokey. Smoke doesn't bother me - my boyfriend smokes - but BOTH of us think we smell pretty disgusting when we get home from O'Malley's. Take it as you will.

Yeap... I bet I will be the first one reviewing Omaley's not a lot of yelpers around foster in 2006. Yes this part of Portland is called "Fopo" now. It is getting gentrified. But I started to go to this bar, because one of my friends love this place. I can still see her walking from her house and calling me to make her company. Drinks are cheap, the bar used to be a little bit smoky. They have a couple of pool tables and it has a decent space. It is what it is ... go grab a PBR or a drink enjoy your drink and go home. Yes there are probably many cooler dive bars in Portland . But this was my Dive bar an I love it. I like omaley and I think it is a great dive bar.

Still love O'Malleys...but, Went to the MACRO BREWFEST there last summer and they had this kick ass blue grass band play on one of the nights. Wish they would do more of those shows. It was a great turnout and people could actually hold a conversation.

A few years ago Omalley's was our favorite place to go and unwind while shooting pool, having a drink and occasionally having dinner. We do love to support small business so we decided to go in today for a drink. Bartender was friendly enough I guess although I didn't catch her name. I ordered a couple of pints of Guinness for my friend and I. The fact that they have Guinness is the high point of this place. After the Guinness I decided on a drink. I ordered a Gin and Tonic. Watching her pour it I thought it would be really strong drink. As I took the first sip I wondered where the Gin was. Stirred it up and tried again, still nothing. Water in the liquor bottles is one of the things we did as teens when we would sneak into the liquor cabinet. Never thought I'd find it in a bar. I made the mistake of asking about food. The bartender asked a guy (owner, cook?). He mumbled something about pizza but didn't seem too happy about it so we left and will never go back...

I love O'Malley's, and a big reason is the foosball. Foosball is an underrepresented sport in modern America. Do your part: Go play some Foos' and have yummy pizza, all in a convenient location on Foster!

I love this place. We live in the neighborhood and stop by at least once a month (much more in winter, it seems) to share a pizza and have a couple beers. There's always a good selection of microbrews on tap, and during the annual "macrobrew fest" there are some unusual beers to try. It's a great, relaxing atmosphere. It is true one of the bartenders can be a bit surly--particularly if soccer comes up--but I view that as a lovable quirk.

Maximum rockocity. O'malley's has free pool, cheap, stiff drinks and a heavy metal DJ every Monday night starting at 9pm. If smoky and loud is not for you, I might stay away. Other than that, the only drawbacks are that the food is decent, but not exceptional. I recommend the chicken/pesto panini, but miss the tater tots once featured on the menu. The owner, Glenn, is behind the bar most nights and the service is therefore fast and friendly. If you live in Foster-Powell, I recommend stopping in.
