As far as fast food corporate chain sandwiches go, Jimmy Johns is only rivaled by a fellow Illinois sandwich chain Potbelly's. As an Illinois native myself, I am thrilled to the teeth to see Jimmy Johns and Potbelly's spring up around Portland. Not that Portland is lacking in the sandwich department. Not even close. But I'm not about to put Jimmy Johns up against Lardo or Bunk. It's an entirely different restaurant concept that's probably marketed to an entirely different type of customer. But seriously, Jimmy Johns makes really REALLY good sandwiches. And the metal signs they make and hang on the wall inside their restaurants are great, many of which are hilarious. I'm sure 100 years from now people will be collecting them and auctioning them off at antique markets. All of their sandwiches are fresh and wonderful but my favorite is without a doubt the Tuna. And don't forget, they deliver! There are very very very very VERY few things that make me proud about being a native Illinoisan (so few that I typically desire to lie and tell people I'm a born-n-bred Oregonian) but sandwiches is one of them, and Jimmy Johns and Potbelly's are sooooooo legit. If you've never tried either, you really should. Subway, to hell with you. Same goes for you, Quizno's. You Quizblows! (I'm just being silly, but for on a serious note, JJ's and Potbelly are way better than Subway and Quizno's...)

At first I didn't want to like this joint. At second, I did and its the bread! They still don't serve milk with their samiches (I get the #14) but I keep on asking until they do. It's always cold in here tho especially by the front door.

Pickles, Snooki Style! This place is way better than Subways, they are super nice here and they have THE BEST PICKLES! JUMBO DILL PICKLES! Seriously though... the sandwich tastes so fresh and so clean~ aka healthy, simple and fresh.

I hate mayo...pretty sure anyone who orders "no mayo" has either an extreme dislike or allergy to the slimy nasty gelatinous goop. I ordered no mayo and they gave extra mayo. Had this delivered to my work for my short lunch break, clocked out when it got there, then wasted half my mealtime and half a roll of paper towels removing it as best I could. I called the sandwich shop, and since I didn't have time to receive another one the manager was nice enough to give me a $10 credit. I called the next day to place an order and added some extra things for coworkers to use the full credit. I use the menu they had given me the day prior to add up the cost. The total they gave me was 2 dollars over what it should have been. When I questioned this the associate told me that there was a $0.25 charge for each item to be delivered. Having only ordered three things I questioned why there was two dollars in additional fees. The employee on the phone couldn't answer my question. When I got my receipt the itemized totals for each item didn't match up with the prices on the menu and also didn't match up if the price was to be an additional 25 cents. As I inspected the receipt I realized they had also charge me a randomly priced delivery fee for the avocado spread that they put on the sandwich. I realize that none of these complaints are very significant. It's not like I can't go on living or afford to be overcharged...but after Jimmy Johns irritating the crap out of me two days in a row...that was surely my last order. In fact two days later when I didn't have lunch at work, I satisfied my appetite with slimfast, pretzels, and fruit snacks (on a 12 hour day).

What can I say. I heart JJ's. Not only are the sammiches delicious but they have sooper fast delivery service. As in.. you better be wearing pants when you place your order because they'll be that quick. Prices are a bit on the high side but when you factor in the cost of gas (and going out in public) it's a no brainer. I highly recommend the beach club on multi grain bread.

Even your mama wants you to eat jimmy johns! This place is on point. Quick fresh and cheap. Brought me back to my nostalgic undergrad days. A must try for value freshness and convenience.

They advertise a fast delivery service. When I called for delivery, they told me they could not deliver to me because they only deliver with a 2 mild radius. When pointed out that we were 1.9 miles from their store, she then told me sometimes it is within a 1.5 mi radius...oddly enough this has happened on numerous occasions from numerous different locations...

I actually like this location more than the one by 185th. The food is actually quite good and consistent, but this one feels more like a restaurant and less like a manufacturing line. I am much more comfortable chilling and eating slowly at this one whereas I always feel like I am taking up limited table space there. As to the food. It's all good. Don't forget to order spicy peppers and wheat bread if you prefer.

Ordering delivery online is the best thing ever! They have always gotten my order right and are usually pretty quick.

Watching Malia (Meliah?) keep all her coworkers straight was impressive. She managed the inshop and pickup orders masterfully while helping the newbies learn what they're doin. Take care of her!! Didn't care for the restroom needing a key but I can let that slide.

Our favorite store! Great Service and fast delivery! The Oatmeal Cookie is Divine! Exquisite flavor! My husband and I love the #9- Italian Night Club. He orders with no tomatoes and extra peppers. And I order mine with extra mayo, extra vinaigrette and peppers. Hot hot peppers, yum! Mom gets the #14-Bootlegger Club with delicious Roast Beef, turkey breast, lettuce, tomatoe, and mayo. She loves the mayo, so she gets extra! The Chocolate chip cookie is soft and delicious. Hubby and mom's favorite! We enjoyed our sandwiches while watching the U of O Football game!!

Mmmm mmmm good! Definitely a step above Subway with way better quality meats/condiments and their bread is yummy. The peeps that work here have lightning fast sandwich making skills. By the time you are done ordering and paying at the register your sandwich is done at the other end. Wow! They deliver too! We have ordered Jimmy John's at work and for work meetings many times. It isn't slow paced delivery either. I was beginning to think they had sandwich making stations in their cars because when we order it shows up like five minutes later. Crazy Fast! The sandwiches have catchy names such as Italian Night Club, which is my favorite. Mayo, Italian dressing, onions, tomato, Genoa salami, Italian capitols, smoked ham and provolone on a sub roll. Oh yeah! Super fattening but worth it once in awhile. 2015-67

Sandwiches were great and made fast! Grabbed some of their day old bread for $.50 a price. Yum!!

The actual sandwich is good but an incident that happened to me made me decide to never go there again. The chips they sell have monosodium glutamate, AKA MSG. Nowhere on the goddamned fucking menus does it say that. To my surprise I'm sitting there eating the fucking things and they tasted like MSG. I read the fucking ingredients and what do I see? M fucking S fucking G! I notified the manager, he apologized and gave me a refund. 6 months later I must have forgot about that incident but it happened again, this time I was mad at the manager and he tried to give me my $1.50 back and I just walked out of there ready to puke. I was spitting and the front sidewalk trying to get that fucked up MSG taste out of my mouth. I wish I would have gotten sick so I could sue the hell out you fuckers. FUCK YOU.

For a company who is known for their speed, I don't think 30 minutes for a delivery is up to par. Probably a 2 and a half star but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because their subs are still good.

  • K D.

FREAKY FAST DELIVERY When we walked there I was in shock that nobody was there! When I finally pulled myself together to order. I chose the Club Lulu which is smoky bacon, ham, lettuce, mayo, and tomato. It was pretty good! I devoured it in no time, other than that the jimmy chips were good. I am willing to come back.

  • Lisa W.

The sandwich are awful!!! The bread was stale and there was hardly any meat. Just a lot of lettuce. I was looking forward to a decent sandwich but I'll never order from them again!!!

I love me some Jimmy Johns. They really have incredible tasting sandwiches. Here's the annoying thing. I can't have cheese. I am lactose intolerant. So I usually get no cheese. One day I just wanted some avocado. I politely asked the employee if it was possible to trade avocado for cheese since they aren't going to be using it anyway. She plainly and kind of rudely said, "no". Didn't offer an alternative, didn't even say it would cost extra. Just, "no". So I look up at the board and notice that extra cheese is $.85 and extra avocado is, yes, you guessed it, $.85. So I'm standing there thinking, "I'm not getting cheese, which would be $.85 if I wanted to add it on, and avocado add-on is the same price....something isn't adding up." I was confused, still am, and most likely will be. They are great sandwiches but a stingy company.

Any other day I would have raved up and down about how much I love Jimmy John's, however, this weekend I cannot. This Saturday I had a sandwich for dinner and within hours I was vomiting all the way into Sunday morning. It's Monday now and I'm still nauseous. Not sure if they have a health/sanitation issue going on or what.. but be warned.

I found myself stuck at work longer than expected with no lunch or snacks. Jimmy John's to the rescue! The delivery speed is unbelievably fast. You can call or order online. It's delivery excellence. I don't think I could have made a sandwich in the break room faster than they delivered it to my office. The sandwiches are, well, sandwiches. They're good. Compared to other sub sandwich chains, the bread is better, ingredients are fresh and of better quality. The delivery speed and the very friendly employees are really the highlights.

Honestly I have never stepped foot into a Jimmy John's until today. We were starving and needed something ASAP, we stopped by and proceeded to order. It is quite a bit like Subway, however the quality of the product seems better. Got the sammies home and realized they had put my turkey and bacon into the fold where the bread remained connected and not much was spread out on the rest of the sandwich. I opened the sandwich and re-arranged my meat and cheese, which by the way was pretty skimpy. The bacon was super salty and floppy, looked like the pre-cooked stuff they sell at the grocery store. The good: The bread was perfect and the amount of mayonnaise The bad: The gross Bacon, skimpy portion on the turkey and provolone, they had NO CHEDDAR, no other options than Provolone, WTH? Overall not sure it was worth $14.00 bucks for two sandwiches and one cookie, so I doubt I shall be back.

Besides being a little overpriced on some of the more basic subs, Jimmy Johns is normally my go to spot for subs. The service is good and extremely fast.

So ordered the number 12. Forgot the name and don't care...the place is amazing and delicious! Excellent decor, fits a well run, clean, friendly staff who handled our orders with a smile and efficiency. Sandwiches were heaven. Thought I was back in San Diego. I will recommend the place to everyone, like them on Facebook, share and enjoy!! Read their signs..Lol humor is fitting for this place.. Any who, enjoy and eat up!!

I got a free sub from here once. That's about the best thing I can say about JJs. Momma always said, "If you can't say anything nice..."

Super quick to make the sandwiches, but the worst customer service I have had in a long while. 3 employees just stared when I walked in, no greeting, no asking what I wanted..... Just silence while at the register..... I won't be returning.

I got delivery for the first time from this place. My sandwich was delicious and the delivery was as they say "subs so fast you'll freak."

Shortly after Jimmy Johns opened, I went in to check them out. New to the menu, I took a minute to decide. When I finally placed my order, my sandwich was in my hand before I even found my wallet to pay for it. It really is freaky fast. Delivery is freaky fast too. I've placed several online orders and my sandwich is delivered in less than ten minutes. The meat seems fresher than other places. The bread is firm and crispy on the outside, not thick or too doughy, but thin and flavorful on the inside. Sure, more options would be great for some people, but I'm easy to please so they have plenty of choices for me.

My sandwich was quite large, but also tasteless, bland, and completely something I could have made myself at home. There's nothing special here.

  • Craig M.

Good sandwiches, but sadly not willing to help make my kids happy with their order. They only have 8" sandwiches. I have small kids who are picky eaters and will not eat an 8" sandwich. They were not willing to put half salami and cheese on one side and half ham and cheese on the other. I was told, "We don't do that here." They lost what was going to be a 5 sandwich order. Not good from a family perspective. Otherwise, the sandwiches are good.

Hmmm, I like a good deli sandwich and with a name like Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches I was pretty excited to try this establishment. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!... HUGE...First, it was NOT A GOURMET SANDWICH! The bread is all the same type - just different sizes - same flavor. They don't offer very many toppings - no pickles, no pepperocinis (banana peppers), no mustard, onions if you ask, mayo if you ask. As I was eating my Vito (Italian Grinder) I was reading the take-out menu and on the top of the menu it has a statement about not being a real gourmet sandwich shop!! WEIRD. Now I will say that my #5 Vito was not bad...but it WASN'T GREAT either. Yes, they made my sandwich fast - they should their was nothing really on it - nothing to customize/personalize my sandwich. The 8" sub was $4.75 and was the skinniest sandwich I have ever seen - there was no "girth" to this sandwich at all - my brother ordered the tuna sub and ended up ordering a second sandwich because he was still hungry. I won't be back.

Fresh, fast, and delicious. No reason to ever go to Subway again!

It's really OK. For some reason, I can't stand the smell inside most Subways. While JJs has some limited choices, the ingredients seem much fresher than most sub shops. Pretty good value, as well.

I have been a Subway/ Quiznos' boy for a long time. Their advertising arm twisting has helped me keep the lbs. off. God bless their Mad Men ways. Then there are those Jimmy John vehicles everywhere in my hood. Delivering one sandwich at a time. It's a good sandwich, a really good sandwich. The quality of the meat tops any fast food out there. Their bag of chips is large (compare). Try the Gargantuan w/peppers and chips. One of the best under $10 meals on a Monday you can get. Well,, If you include Monday Night Football.

My coworkers and I eat here ALL the time! We work close to this location and we typically go down there to order and pick our lunch up, but it is definitely faster to have it delivered! They have had our sandwiches at our office on the sixth floor within 8 minutes of placing the online order. It truly is amazing how fast they are. Their bread is way better than subway or big town hero, and it actually smells good in there, unlike Quiznos.

I've only done there delivery as a friend from work recommended it to me. They literally only took 10 minutes to get to me once i got off the phone! The food was pretty good I had the porker! I do wish they had the option of being toasted but still in my opinion better than subway.

I must say that I was pretty excited to see this place pop up on my map at a new client of mine. I have had Jimmy John's many times up in the greater Seattle area, but haven't found many close by for me in Portland. It was everything I remembered. Super quick service with the sandwich made by the time I finished paying. Everything from the bread to the meat where delicious. Can't say anything bad about this place, except they need to open a store near my house!
