Pizza is good, the crust is different most people just never had it before and I didn't think it was bad. I actually like the taco pizza, yeah it's messy but you went to eat pizza so don't expect cloth napkins. When you walk in you do walk straight to the counter to order which seems to be an issue for people, I've never sat down to order pizza...As for issues with the staff you must have come in on a bad day because they have always had a good attitude. Overall the experience was good!

I grew up in Pendleton with Big John always there welcoming and chatting with his patrons. When my uncle Alex was alive, we held ALL our family events there because Alex was a big part of the local high school football. This weekend, I came home for a couple huge events with friends and family. I wasn't able to book a dinner for ten at Joe's Fiesta so I decided to try Big John's because we've always loved it there!! They've always been stellar! Upon walking in, the couple ordering in front of me had a wonderful conversation, laughing and smiling with the tall dark haired girl (beautiful with long eyelashes) taking orders as they clearly knew each other. I assume because she seems so happy, I would get the same welcoming smile. Unfortunately, she completely changed and I was greeted with a beautiful girl with a crappy attitude. She wouldn't look me in the eyes, seemed irritated I had questions about the menu and I felt like she overall would have a much better day had I never volunteered my family to blow $60 eating at that establishment. It's really discouraging seeing young people lack outstanding customer service in not only a town where I learned my skills and a place where my own mother had her first job as well. If I could provide my feedback, the rest of the employees were kind, smiling and wonderful. This particular girl should consider an attitude adjustment, a crash course on customer service and definitely moved to the back of the house, not the frontline person who offers someone's first opinion. Aside from that, the pizza has changed slightly and not as good as we remembered it. After discussing this with other local friends, I was told Abbys is the better option. Ahh, a learning experience to say the least.

Looking for a dinner spot in Pendleton & happened across Big Johns. Excellent signage on each end of the block to catch passing traffic. So you walk i n& go straight to the order counter. Didn't know this. Instead we went to a table & sat down & waited awhile. Noticing no waitresses at all we went up to the counter & found out we were supposed to order there. Anyhoo, we ordered the Taco pizza because we had just been talking about Godfathers wonderful Taco pizza from back in the day. This was not wonderful. Huge mess is what it was. Don't think I would go out of my way to eat there again.

Checked into my hotel room, didn't feel like going to get dinner. Called this place to get a pizza delivered. The staff is very courteous and the delivery was very fast. Had a salad and pizza deliver. I would have gave it more stars if my pizza was cooked all the way. The crust wasn't quite done, otherwise it would have been a really good pizza.

Crappy pizza. Way overpriced. This was a staple in town back in the day, but horrible now. I would recommend finding a different pizza place like Abby's

Famished we stopped by the first place we came to in town. Each person had their own mini pizza and salad bar. The pizza was ok, the crust was a little strange, too crunchy yet it wasn't burnt. It wasn't bad though. Overall it was average and I wouldn't go back.

Better than any chain but nothing amazing. The pizza was good, but nothing stood out. The crust was thin and brittle but not in a bad way. It held the pizza until it entered my mouth and then it broke up into chunks quite easily. The sauce and topping just tasted like standard Sysco quality. There wasn't any topping cheese so all the toppings fell off the pizza once I took a bite. The menu lacked any creativity. Your pizza options are Pepperoni, Hawaiian, a combo with only olives and mushrooms for veggies and a taco pizza. Other than that, they feel you can create it your damn self... which I did :) Maybe the people of Pendleton are simple folk but i like to receive a little more from a restaurant than what i can buy frozen from Safeway.

What a poorly run and managed place. We do not live here and we gave it a try based on reviews. Here are the shortcomings: Walked in and not one employee sent a greeting our way. The floors are filthy and the tables in disarray. One of the wait staff walked past us at the door and yelled for us to order from the window. WTF! The pizza was just barely OK. Not great, not even good. The sauce was spread with huge pockets of sauce and lots of places with sparse sauce. The tea is watered down and the salad bar, well all I can say is walk past it. During dinner it was a stream of boys talking to the girls that were supposed to working and us getting to hear why they never call that certain boy. Not one person checked on our table. And when we left, well not even a simple "Thanks for coming" Avoid this place unless you attend the local high school and your friend works here.

Unsettling...Crust was cardboard like but topics were plentiful. I still prefer Abby's or Papa Murphy's for flavor and quality. Went here once and never came back. Kids were running everywhere and it was LOUD. The food was better than the atmosphere at least. I left with indigestion and it wasn't from the food!

Apparently Big John's is *the* place to hang out in Pendleton. When I walked through the front doors at 5:50pm on a Friday night two tables were occupied and I was able to place my order without any wait. Fifteen minutes later every table was full and there was a line out the door.. it was ridiculous and for a minute I had to wonder if I was about to be regaled by a flashmob. But that's all besides the point. Here's your rundown, the salad bar is surprising good with fresh veggies and way more options than you would expect in a small town. The pizza wasn't amazing but it was pretty good and the signature thin crust (which is cracker thin and wonderfully crunchy) makes Big John's worth the stop.

Top pizza in Pendleton hands down! Thin crust pizza at it's best, and a hat for your kid's birthday c'mon man it doesn't get much better for family's in town. Thank you Andy for keeping the Big John's Pizza rolling!

Stopped for rest and chow in Pendleton and ventured across Big Johns, ordered a thin crust pepperoni and enjoyed eating it, they were not stingy with the sauce or toppings which is great. The crust was thin and crispy, nicely done. I ordered a single size and for the price could have gotten a bite more bang for my buck when it comes to quantity, but as far as quality no question it was delicious. If I ever come through town again I will stop by for sure.

I have been coming to this place for years and it is better than ever! If you'd been here in the past and were not impressed, you need to give it another chance. It must be the new ownership or something. I go to the Monday thru Friday buffet quite often, as well as order pizza to go. I'll start with the pizza. The hand-tossed crust is the way to go. It is seasoned with herbs and the crust is rubbed with oil. The sauce it not your ordinary pizza sauce. Was my Grandma back there making her "gravy"? It's a little sweet and very flavorful. The toppings are generous and above average. As much as I love the pizza, I love the salad bar as much or even more! It's alway's stocked with fresh delicious options. If you go for the lunch buffet, It has to be the best deal in town. You get all you-can-eat soup, salad bar and pizza for $5.99. There is usually 4 or 5 pizza's to choose from and if they need to make more, they'll ask you what you want them to make. I think that's awsome! Now on to the service. The staff is happy to be there. That says a lot. I've noticed at lunch, the same people have worked there for years. When I go, usually toward the end of lunch, they are slowing down. Everytime I've gone, someone is getting to take their well-deserved break and they sit down to the pizza. Now if that isn't a sign, then what is? After working there for years, they still enjoy the food! They now offer delivery. Not just delivery, but it comes to you in a cute, little Smart car. A friend sent me pictures of those cars in Europe many years ago. It's cute as a bugs ear, not to mention, very convenient. Be sure and get on their email, they send out offers frequently. I just love doing business with someone that is on top of their game. Did I mention, the place is clean as can be? Go there. You won't be disappointed! I guess I should mention, they have beer and wine, as well as video poker for those who play. It's a great place to go for a birthday party or after a sporting event. They also have a ton of t.v.'s everywhere to watch the games. Just so you don't think I'm somehow affiliated with Big John's, I better say something negative. Well, it's just a touch too bright in the dining room, and the silverware is uncomfortable. :-)

My wife and I stopped here for the lunch buffet. The pizza was horrid. The crust was akin to cardboard, only I think cardboard would have been tastier. It was thin as a fingernail and as hard. The sauce had Chef Boyardee written all over it. The silverware was dirty. If this is Pendleton's best pizza place then from now on we'll pop a Reser's frozen pizza in the oven at home and save my money and tooth fillings. The video games are has beens from the 90s. Loud and obnoxious while trying to eat.

What a fantastic place to relax with the family have a couple beers, enjoy some good pizza and watch the game. also a very hot spot for local sports to have their end of season parties, which has been done for so long it makes Big Johns the hometown feel that we all definitely need sometimes. the lunch buffet is excellent especially for the price. i recommend the thick crust but the rest of my family really prefer the thin.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
