Fresh sandwiches and soups for a decent price. I also found a lot of regulars here who were very friendly. The food is simple and tasty, and served with extra goodies that don't appear on the menu (I got apples and a homemade cookie with my 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup). I stopped here twice last winter, on my way to and from K Falls. I love bakeries and cafes, so when I saw this place around lunchtime, I didn't hesitate to pull in. I'll choose a locally owned and operated cafe over a fast food joint any day of the week. The place doubles as a sort of antique/nick-nack store, so there's plenty to keep you entertained as you wait patiently for your food. The lunch menu is limited to basic sandwiches and a couple of homemade soups. There is a large variety of drink options, if I remember correctly, but a smoothie is the only thing I tried. It was made with a variety of fresh berries, but they must have been out of season. No worries. The only real downsides I see are that the prices are a little bit on the high side, it takes a while to get in and out, and they only take cash. McGillicuddy's is a good place to enjoy a simple, fresh meal surrounded by locals and old-timey decor. I liked being able to get out of the car and relax in a place like this, where you feel like your eating at home. In this place, you can just get up and walk around whenever the hell you feel like it, and maybe just take a look at that wooden birdhouse for sale.

New brewery in Oakridge? That's worthy of a roadtrip. The brewer here has a serious jones for English style beers and pubs. He has gone out of his way to recreate that feel in this rural small town up the McKenzie highway. All of the beers he brews are presented Cask style which is an old-school way of serving the beer without CO2 but hand pumped and kept at about 50 degrees. I have to start out by saying I am not a fan of English beers. I do not put English style beers anywhere near the top of my favorites list and cannot say I enjoyed either of the two beers I tried. The Weird IPA was truly that and did not leave my pallette wanting more also the Rye Session beer was more sour on the front end than I enjoy. The place has been open less than 6 months so I'll give it another try down the road a bit. Maybe the brewer is still working out the kinks. I put these on par with homebrews I've tried that are trying for a different flavor profile and fall a little short. Burgers were good and clientele was unique so it was worth the trip out. Also there are six other tap handles pouring some great northwest beers so there are options. As a brewery it needs time to mature, as a pub it's just about right.
I have been traveling through Oakridge for years and a couple years ago stumbled upon this place. They have some fantastic Cask Beers that they brew plus a nice selection of guest taps if old English style beer isn't you flavor. The staff are very welcoming and laid back and make you feel like your home while you there, even if you are just passing through. They have some great food as well... I would go as far as saying its the best in town but if you are driven through Oakridge you would know your options are slim. I would recommend this place to all my friends and family as the place to go for beer and food in Oakridge.
Because Oakridge has become a Mountain Biking destination, and it just so happens that's why I was there, I am going to review the Brewer's Union Local 180 from the perspective I had when I arrived there: Just finishing a 20+ mile ride (Alpine-Tire Mountain-Winberry) and rolling into town absolutely drained. The Local 180 has everything you could want in a pub, spectacular tasty, refreshing, and creative beer along with simple food that fills you up. Fish & Chips? Of course! Spaghetti? Only if I can get extra noodles for my carbo load! The bottom line is you don't come here because you are looking for fine dining, you come here to fill your stomach with beer and food, mingle with other mountain bikers as well as locals, and stumble back to whatever campsite or hotel you came from only to repeat the whole thing the next day.

I don't normally enjoy fast food but we stopped here for a quick bite. The food was actually pretty okay for.fast food. The service was good, prices average & you can just tell that the management takes good.care of the property. It is obviously an old establishment but clean & well cared for.
After camping with my boys for a weekend of dirt bike fun a good ole root beer float sounded good! I ended up splitting a chicken strip basket which was not bad. I only had one because I wasn't hungry because we BBQ'D steak before leaving camp. I was pleased because the chicken was made with real chicken and reminded me of chicken strips that I make at home except taste different because I use a different batter. I have always been a fan of A&W. It's a dying breed. But I don't like fast food so I will stick with the floats and maybe the chicken now that I know it's the real stuff.
Hey... They even SERVE you here! No roller skates though :0( Good burgers, good fries and GREAT root beer!

Stopped here on the way to Crater Lake. Adorable tiny woman who could be my grandmother behind the counter. Felt like I stepped back in time! She didn't move very fast but made a fantastic pizza! Thin crust! Pizza was done in 10 minutes. Draft beer. Salad bar. It was delicious. Nice surprise!!
We walked in at 10:50am and the sign clearly stated breakfast til 11:00. We stood there for awhile and finally asked if we should seat ourselves. We were told that if we wanted breakfast that we had to order at the counter and pay right the. Since breakfast was almost over. So we ordered and paid. Then we waited and waited and waited. People who came in after us got there food and we waited. Finally we were told that since we paid in advance our ticket had been misplaced by the bartender. After 40 minutes we got our breakfast and it was all cold except for the biscuits and gravy which showed up 10 minutes later . When I told them it was cold I was told that it couldn't of been because she had microwaved it right before bringing it out... Horrible!!
Very disappointed in Big Mountain, especially given that it's pretty much the only family restaurant in the area. Every time we have gone there to order something other than pizza off of their menu, we are told they don't have it. They may have this great menu, but in reality, you can have pizza or salad from the salad bar, which is more often than not covered in flies. Also, some of the staff there is incredibly rude! We called one time and, without going into details, the call ended up being very confusing and we ended up being yelled at and yelled over by one the employees. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told that there wasn't one there. I don't know what that woman's problem was, but after yelling at my husband for a while, he asked me to try. She immediately started yelling over me. I ended up saying some choice words and hanging up on her. Needless to say, we will never go to Big Mountain again!
