I don't agree with the last review I read about the ranch restaurant. Okay, I didn't sit in the restaurant in order a full meal. I sat in the Ponderosa room bar. Brad , my super pro bartender pored a really fair straight up shot of whiskey. He was also quick on the draw with a frosty bottle of Budweiser. I chose to order ala carte. I went with the onion rings, and a bowl of the beef barley soup. The onion rings came out hot, and delicious. If they were out of a frozen pack, at least the oil was fresh. my beef barley soup, what's hot and satisfying. The conversation at the bar was of, TRUCKING, logging, and winemaking. Just what I expected when I saw the big yellow" Lounge", sign from the highway.

Ordered a cheeseburger with fries and the fish and chips. French fries were too greasy and my fried cod was on par with one you can find in the frozen section at your grocer. The waitress was very nice and helpful but I would not recommend eating here.

Hubby and I came in for breakfast today same waitress but she was on top of it today hubby had the ham steak breakfast again and I got the chicken cheddar omelet with homefries and wheat toast for I think $7.85? It was a good price either way. Everything was cooked perfectly I loved the omelet it was so good and fliffy packed with chicken, cheese, onions, and mushrooms. The homefries were wonderful and a rarity for me my toast was PERFECT!!!!! It was perfectly cooked and buttered to all corners it was delicious and I was in heaven. Today they earned that 5th star I highly recommend coming in for breakfast, I have only been here for lunch once and it didn't turn out very good, but the breakfasts I highly recommend.

Worst customer service ever. We got a waitress who was an older lady with an attitude from hell. My friend told her that they needed more paper towel's in the restroom and her response was, " and what do you want me to do about it I'm working". You would think that an old beat up spot like this would at least have some friendly service but no way. At the time of check out we got another piece of her attitude. It seems she got upset cause we paid her with credit card. I feel sorry for the owner of this place and I'm wondering why he would hire such a person. This is a trucker stop but I will not stop here again.

Ended up here by chance while traveling, and I'm glad I did. The diner is clean, the service was fantastic, and the food was good. The prices are excellent, too. Next time I pass this way, I'll stop in again.

Pie - 5 Stars ***** Rest of the food - 2.5 Stars I love pie. I'm a wee bit of a pie snob but I'm willing to eat pie anytime or anywhere. The [fruit] pies here are OUTSTANDING - They are as good as my grandmother used to make, which is a long lost art. The crust is thin and yet flaky. It does not dominate the pie but works harmoniously with the fruit to create pie magic. The fruit pies had wonderful fresh fruit packed into the crust. Unlike a lot of pies these were not too starchy nor too sweet - the fillings had a great fresh flavor. They also serve their pie properly - not warmed up (I imagine if you want your pie destroyed they'd be glad to warm it for you but if you like pie you'll appreciate the au natural). Highly recommend raspberry or marionberry as table favorites. Seriously, if you are driving along I-5, totally worth a coffee break pull over to get the pie. If you are local, (or even if you aren't) and want to impress your friends - buy a whole pie and take it with you! Whole pie was only $9.99 at the time of this writing. WHAT A DEAL Heck get two. In terms of the other food - it is OK. We really only had the breakfasts. The best meat was the ham. The bacon was a little limpy and fatty. The omelets are thick and large; personally I like mine thin so more of the flavors than just the egg comes through. The potatoes are pretty great - nice blend of flavors (of course, anything with bacon on it can't be too bad) The breakfast burrito was fine but tastes more like it was made by a Swede than a Mexican [ you can get a pretty good burrito at a truck about 1/4 mile away - buy your pie and get a burrito there!). The biscuits and gravy should be avoided. The biscuits are more the kind you'd want to put honey on than gravy - kind of doughy. The gravy was virtually tasteless paste - needed either some ham or sausage flavoring. All portions are L A R G E and relatively cheap. The 1/2 order of biscuits could be enough for 2. Ditto for the omelet! The burrito will last you all day (well, at least until dinner). The atmosphere is genuinely local. In fact, one of the nicest parts of being here is you feel like you get a peek into Yoncola area. Got to see plenty of locals come in and overheard conversations about former belly dancers, hay prices and studs. This local "atmosphere" is totally fantastic. If you are old enough to remember Twin Peaks, this would be the Yoncola version of the restaurant in it. Well worth a visit & grab some pie.

I've been here a couple of times now. It's like a step back in time. I've tried the patty melt & fries - really good!! I have also tried the taco omelet & home fries. It was so big & the potatoes had lots of onions & slices of bacon sautéed in. YUM!! The portion was so big - I took half with me!! Everyone is nice & friendly. There are 2 parts to this restaurant - I've only been in the diner side. Very comfortable.

We stopped here (right off I-5, Rice Hill Exit 148) for dinner on our way home to Portland. It was me, my wife and two kids (toddler and infant). I had the bacon cheese burger, my wife the chicken strips and our 3-year-old a waffle (they serve breakfast all-day). All three meals where VERY good and the staff was really friendly and accommodating. The cook came out of the kitchen to see our baby, the waitress HAD to hold her. The special that day was all you can eat spaghetti for like $6 and it looked really good too. Everything was priced well too, it was $17 for those three meals with a milk, a coffee and a beer. Perfect place to stop traveling North or South on I-5.
