Food was very good. Service was good. Ocean views very nice. There was six of us in the party. We all commented on how well we liked our meals. I had the fisherman's stew. The seafood was very fresh and tasty. Next time I am in Newport I would eat here again.

Good food, ridiculously good service, and fabulous view. We like a few different places in Newport for breakfast but this has the best view by far. We've eaten here quite a few times over the last 20 years and it's better than ever. Don't come expecting tons of fresh or vegetarian options for breakfast, but everyone can find something.

Pricey...but worth it. Great views, lovely seafood, decent service. Not a great option if you have kids in your party though.

Best clam chowder ever! Also have to try the diablo pasta! Kind sweet and spicy, really great!

We stayed at the neighboring resort to this restaurant for more than a week, so we ate here..... a lot, both dine-in and room service. After over a week of dining here several times, here are some of the dishes that we had, and our thoughts of the food.... The Diablo Seafood Pasta... too sweet. It was more like pad-Thai, only with Italian pasta. Pad-Thai rice noodles go well with spicy sweet... Italian pasta... not so much. The halibut fish and chips were phenomenal! One morning we ordered a breakfast sandwich into the room... english muffin with egg, ham and cheese, served with hash browns and gravy. Excellent! They even split the order onto two separate plates, as we only wanted one sandwich. This was very nice and accommodating. Their clam chowder was excellent, with the exception of one visit that we ordered it and it was very sweet... much like the Diablo sauce, which was odd, since we figured their chowder would always be the same. All other times however, it was excellent.... I especially liked the bread bowl chowder. The rib eye steak was perfect... perfectly flavored and perfectly cooked. The coconut shrimp was outstanding. The deep fried zucchini was excellent. The sautéed seafood sampler was great, especially since they allowed us to add pasta to it. The Cobb salad was great. And the white chocolate cheese cake was yummm! We experienced many levels of service during our stay... from sit down meals, to room service, to bar service to calling for reservations. We ate at the restaurant twice... one server really didn't care if you were happy or not... never smiled, wasn't friendly, never checked back with us after she delivered the food. The hostesses and gals that answered the phone to take reservations were snotty and not friendly at all. This was not an isolated incident... it was very consistent. On the OTHER hand, Rebecca, our server during one of our sit-down dinners, was OUTSTANDING! Her friendliness and service was above and beyond. Also, each and every time (several) we had room service, the person delivering the food was very friendly and helpful! The only night we had an issue was on Sunday a night. We called ahead to see what time they were closing. We were told they would take our room service order until 10:00p. We called back at 9:40p to place our order, and they informed us that they had closed at 9:00p. When I told them we had called earlier to inquire about their hours, they said it was a mistake.... they forgot that it was Sunday and they close early. To their credit, they told us we could have soup or salads, but we declined. This restaurant is a great "go-to" place. They have great food, and if you call ahead from your room, they will put you on a list and call you when your table is ready. Their window-side seating is fabulous for sunset views... the best in Newport! We will most definitely be staying at the Hallmark again, and we will for sure return to Georgie's.

Loved this place and the view was outstanding! They were great to our four little ones and provided coloring sheets and a great menu. The food was great and we really enjoyed our meal! We would love to return if we were in town again!

I thought this place was going to be pricey, but was actually a bit reasonable, and OMG the VIEW!! Made me wish my hubby was there to have a romantic meal.. Anyhow.. I had the appetizer (not too hungry) of Fried zucchini with dipping sauce. It ended up being a while zucc sliced in long quarters breaded in panko crumbs, not soggy or overcooked. it was soo good I ate the WHOLE thing!! I'd also tried the CLAM CHOWDER OHH MYY!!! Seasoned well, thick and chunky! .. Has a bite of some spicy seafood pasta too!! It was Yummo! There is also a great KIDS menu; mac n cheese, personal pizza, ec.t My daughter ate every last bite of her mac and had a bowl of fruit (with the meal) i went with a group and everyone's meals looked so good i wanted to try it all!! Can't wait to come here again and try more on the menu!

Great place all around. Little pricey, especially for the family, but pretty standard for the area. Bread is wonderful, and service was prompt, pleasent, and attentive. Food was all great. Best Halibut and chips I had the whole trip. Chowder was also best of the trip here (pretty much a daily thing this close to fresh seafood). Kids get a treasure after the meal. Very clean and a great view too. Definitely coming back.

The best view ....wow. And the chili is amazing. It is a meal. Hubby said the chowder is the best on the coast. Great service as well!!!!!

Everyone enjoyed our lunch; the chicken wrap very good as was the Salad Special with raspberries and strawberries. Cobb salad also tasty. The server very nice but a bit slower than we would have liked. All and all, well worth finding this restaurant to eat

Staying at the Hallmark for a girls weekend of scrapbooking. Had dinner and breakfast here and was not disappointed. First thing we did was order drinks while we waited for dinner. That bartender is fast which was amazing for how busy they were. And, the drinks were great. Everyone at my table loved their dinner. I had the halibut fish and chips. Yummy breading and nice fat fries. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. The place was hopping! Breakfast was equally as yummy. I had a egg and cheese scramble and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of cheese :) A couple of people at my table got the croissant french toast and that looked amazing. Creative. The highlight of the breakfast was watching the self cleaning windows come on. What a great idea so that the view was always clear!

Great view! Great service! Great food! We've been here three times and everyone in our group has been happy with their orders. I absolutely love the view and our kids love going through their treasure chest! The Greek omelette for breakfast was awesome, and so was the chicken Parmesan for dinner.

The best place to eat at in Newport. Had lunch & dinner from here on our vacation. Got a chicken Cobb salad, bbq raspberry salmon salad, clam chowder, Cole slaw, side of veggies, and a grass-fed burger for lunch. For dinner we got fish tacos, Alfredo w/ chicken, side of veggies, and shrimp scampi. They also gave us sourdough bread, which was amazing. The forgot my blue cheese salad dressing for our to-go lunch, so they happily gave us some with our to-go dinner order. We loved everything! This place is a must. Wish we'd done breakfast here too.

Really nice restaurant with good food. I don't agree with a previous poster who said they were "trying " to be a fancy restaurant, I thought the decor was major steps above what you'd expect to find in a coastal town restaurant that everybody can walk into in whatever they happen to be wearing, barring swimsuits. Kids get a ticket to pick something out of the treasure chest upon leaving. I would definitely come back. Husband had the club sandwich and I had 2 pc Halibut &chips. Fish was very good.

  • Dan F.

Left not feeling this place. Overpriced for what you get and wasn't very appetizing. Waitress was extremely nice and service was good. Clam chowder was good. Fish n chips were below average and my wife didn't even eat the second crab cake. We won't be back.

Another place we went to when visiting in town from Portland. We started with the calamari-good but nothing great (we eat a lot of calamari) Diablo seafood platter- good but definitely could have used some citrus flavoring to it, it was heavy but full of seafood like it should be!! And the halibut fish tacos is A MUST!!!!! We also ordered key lime pie and marionberry cobbler to go and both were delicious. Our waitress.. Not so much. She would walk away when talking to her and was not friendly!! I told my boyfriend I think we got the waitress that the bad reviews were about on here. I get annoyed when I have to ask for a water refill, she didn't ask and then when I did ask the busser had already been over to fill it for me. The what I think was restaurant manager came over and asked of everything was good which was nice. Next time we come to Newport, we will definitely be back

I was a little skeptical at first only because it was attached to a hotel but that didn't last long... Once we came inside the staff was warm and friendly, they lead us to a table but it was a little loud only because there was a larger group of people next to us that seemed like they were just catching up and having a great time, so we asked to move our table and they were very kind and moved us to the bar area where we sat next to the window and had an amazing view of the ocean! We had the halibut tacos which were delicious on 11/12/14!

I will never eat here again. It was super over priced. It was food I can make at home. i.e., baked potato, rice, or mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables with your entrees. Not impressed! We got on their wait list as expressed in previous reviews, but we still waited forever. They seated us and didn't give part of our water, silverware, or bread plates. But gave us bread. The waitress was nice, but everything took forever. The restaurant was super noisy. The seafood diablo was sweet and didn't taste like a seafood fettuccine dish. I had the scallops and they were overcooked. My mom had the seafood medley and basically it was a variety of steamed seafood in a boat plate with zero flavor. My 16 year old daughter got the lobster and and steak tips and she couldn't eat it because it was super spicy. Her meal had no potato or vegetable side. We had the clam chowder and it was good, but I've had better. Two clam chowders, 4 meals, and one glass of wine equaled $134. And we didn't like it! I am a very easy going person and I never leave reviews. This is my first time leaving a review on yelp. I was so disappointed after reading the reviews on yelp and hoping for a good meal with my family. The view was great. That's the only good thing I can say.

Shawn, out server, was awesome! All 6 of us enjoyed our meals, expertly prepared. Clam chowder, halibut tacos, grilled salmon, chicken caesar, halibut fish and chips and marion berry glazed salmon salad. All awesome. Crowded but not too noisy. Dessert was great; flour-less chocolate tort, key lime pie and Mmarion berry crisp . A nice meal with friends, excellent service. All our requests were met quickly. Thank you!

Great chowder . No need for additional seasonings. Prompt and curtious service is a plus .Great flavors and have portioning down pat. Would highly recommend to anyone in town going to the aquarium.

Ambiance/Ocean views=5 stars! We saw the most amazing sunset here 2 nights ago, and that alone is worth the price of admission. Food quality=3.5 stars. The bread, oh the bread! I'm not usually the biggest fan of sourdough bread, but whoever makes their bread should get an award for how good their dinner bread was. The calamari had a little spice in the breading and it was surprisingly good. It also tasted reallllly fresh, and not that fresh from the freezer kind of fresh. One issue we did have, was that the vegetables were undercooked when we got our meals. However, they were definitely fresh. All of the fish we ordered were fresh tasting. Probably won't get the parmesan halibut again though...it just wasn't all that great for the price. Oh and order the mango sorbet, it's amazing!!! And pretty huge too Service=5 stars...from the manager greeting us when we walked in, to his response to our table needs, we were very impressed by his professionalism and great attitude. Our server was also on point, and was very helpful throughout the meal. Price=3 stars...I feel like there was an extra 10-15% markup for the location and views of the ocean here. That being said, it's still absolutely worth visiting here for a semi-formal meal in Newport. Overall we had a great experience here, and we'll definitely return here again, on our next trip to the beach!

Great location. Good chowder with chunks of clams. Special salmon tacos were great. The best fish taco on this side of Hawaii. Dungeness crab great. Sides not so great. Tired broccoli and bland potato salad. Service very good. All and all, worth the stop.

  • Nikki R.

I've heard this restaurant is over priced and not that great, and I would agree. The bar didn't know how to make the very common drink I ordered. The chowder was mediocre, and the seafood fettuccine had microscopic chunks of seafood, so small it couldn't be identified. For $26 for the single dish, I expected more.

I'm a Portland native, and I've been coming to the coast all my life. My wife and I discovered this place a few years ago and it's become one of our go to places every time we head to the coast. The menu isn't radical or pushing the envelope, just good food.

We ate at Georgie's a couple of weeks ago while vacationing from NC. What a great experience. We were seated at the window overlooking the water. My seafood and pasta in a cheese cream sauce was excellent, as was my wife's salmon salad. The best was the Marionberry crisp for dessert. It topped of a great meal.

  • Nateale K.

Their clam chowder is so rich and creamy. And the halibut fish and chips melts in your mouth! So yummy and an excellent view of the ocean! We were able to watch a gray whale surface and spray all throughout dinner. A wonderful experience all around!

I was staying at the Hallmark and was recommended to this restaurant, upon reading the reviews I decided to go. My Wife and I had an amazing view of the ocean and our server had great customer service and was friendly. I ordered the crab cakes ( I highly recommend) they were amazing and tasted fresh. I ordered the cakes as an appetizer well worth the price! I was really impressed until I got my main dish...the blackened salmon...dry, over seasoned with pepper and not fresh at all. My Wife got the blackberry salmon salad which was caked in barbecue sauce thus no taste of the salmon. Over all my experience was disappointing. 1 because after the amazing crab cakes I expected the salmon to exceed or at least meet my expectations. 2 the price, 80 dollars after seemed overpriced for the food I had gotten when I could have bought frozen salmon for a 1/4 of the price and seasoned/sautéed it better! My recommendation would be to go to the pier, lots of great seafood restaurants there seems that Georgie's just has a good marketing scheme going and they have forgotten about quality rather the fact that an ocean front view will keep locals and newbies spilling in...I won't be back.

I feel like this place is pretty hit or miss. We spent a long weekend in Newport, staying at the Hallmark, and we took advantage of the room service option, which is from Georgie's. The first morning, we did breakfast, and it was pretty blah. I had an omelet, but there was something painfully missing - flavor. The hashbrowns left much to be desired, and more or less the only good thing on my plate was the toast. My companion had a breakfast wrap, which was alright. We split a cinnamon roll, which seemed great at the time, compared to everything else, but in retrospect, it was probably something from Safeway with some icing squeezed on. That night, we really wanted to stay in the room, and we thought breakfast was maybe a fluke. So, we ordered dinner in the room. (Hey, our room had a better view than the restaurant!) Dinner was actually very good. We split a bowl of the prime rib chili for an appetizer, and it was flavorful and had a bit of a kick. My entree was grilled halibut with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. Everything tasted excellent. My companion had grilled salmon with a baked potato. Both came with mixed veggies, as well. There were no complaints about dinner. Breakfast the next morning was much improved from the first day. The bacon was excellent, and my French toast was great. Sadly, it wasn't all great, as my companion's hash browns were more or less inedible. All in all, it's not a terrible experience, but not the best ever. The view is great, and if you're in the hotel, you can't beat room service!

Loved it!!! Georgie's is the best seaside restaurant I have ever been to. It has the best clam chowder I have ever tasted and it is reasonably priced. Everything I ate was high quality and the view is amazing. I definitely recommend it.

Very difficult to rate this on only one thing. what's weird is I settled on 3 stars simply because the service would've been a definite FIVE stars - no kidding - but the food left me wanting. Seriously... for the fees, we should've been dazzled. We weren't. However, let me state for the record that some of our mid-western family members were QUITE dazzled since they don't have much in the way of seafood options. Delighted by the extraordinary service we received, especially for a holiday weekend when they weren't taking reservations. I was stunned to actually see a restaurant on ANY weeknight on the coast so packed they had a 45 minute minimum wait. But... since we called the gentleman put us immediately on the wait list and by the time we arrived we were seated and served. The service was undeniably a full five stars. Our server was prompt, pleasant, and unbelievably efficient under such pressure. There was never an empty spot in the entire place. The bread gave me huge hope that I'd be overly impressed with the meal. My husband and I agreed to "share-plate" so we could try more selections, and most of it ended up in the dog dish. While the blackened chicken was okay, and the 3 cheese sauce on the pasta was good for the first few bites, it wasn't something I'll crave and wish to go back for any time soon. And my husband ordered ribs. His reaction to them wasn't even inviting enough to make me want to try them in light of the heavy sauce and the appearance. Onion rings were good, though I didn't much care for the choice of sauces. Fried Zuchini not so good. Long, thick slices of zuchini, breaded and deep fried. Kinda like eating a side rather than an appetizer. Jus' sayin... I'm sure desert would've been good, based on the bread. I dunno... lot of places seem to serve good desert if the bread is something special. It was far and away MY favorite part of the meal (the bread). If you're after service, great wait staff, and friendly people... and you don't care TOO much about the food, this is for you. Now, in all fairness, I'm not a real fan of seafood, and it was obviously their specialty. I'm sure if I liked seafood, I'd have enjoyed the meal a whole lot more, especially in light of the over-the-top service. Maybe my rating is a bit too harsh? You decide. It's worth one try.

Pretty great breakfast choices. The crab tasted fresh and yummy. The view is fantastic, of course. They offer a few "stuffers" on the menu...which is basically a scramble served inside a sourdough BREAD BOWL and then topped with hollandaise sauce. This was genius and so friggin delicious. Prices are comparable for mid-scale hotel restaurants, but I found the food to be a bit better than I'd expected. Service was VERY friendly, and she left a carafe of coffee on the table, so we could refill our cups at our leisure, which was really nice. Portion sizes are pretty big.

Service was great, view unbelievale, and food delicious. My husband had halibut tacos and said they were the best ever! My son had veggie penne and thought it was great too. Daughter had tuna melt, also delicious. My cod and chips was good. Marionberry dessert was to die for..yum! I would definitely come here again :)

Friendly staff! Great ocean views! Good food! Dishes worth trying are: the Clam Chowder (AWESOME!!), Diablo Seafood Pasta (amazing), Lunch Special of BBQ Chicken Salad (wonderful), Grilled Tuna Melt (yummy), French Fries from scratch (good) and the Sourdough Loaf (wow). Our large group of six had an incredibly enjoyable time from the moment we entered Georgie's until we left! My family and I were visiting my in-laws. This was my first time there since we live out of state. We will be visiting Oregon during the holidays this year and look forward to returning. If you are looking for a restaurant with friendly staff, great food and amazing views then Georgie's Beachside Grill is a definite must!!

We loved this place. The food was delicious, the drinks were awesome (sunset margarita was so good), the view was great, the service was right on and we loved the ambiance too. We will definitely return when we come to Newport again. I highly recommend you try this retaurant. Your taste buds and tummy will thank you :)

The staff were friendly and professional. The view of the ocean was stunning. The food was very good as far as the adult meals. I had the diablo seafood pasta. It was very tasty but looked smaller than I was expecting, that said i left feeling full but not over stuffed. My wife had a pesto club sandwich that was delicious. The large cut fries are a hit if you love potato. The kids pizza was not impressive but my kid is no connoisseur. The kids meal also came with a ticket good for a prize from a toy filed treasure chest. Very cool. Glad we stopped.

There is often a wait to get into Georgie's Beachside Grill in Newport, Oregon. There is a reason for that. It's because Georgie's is consistently good. However, don't let the wait deter you. Both the host staff and the wait staff at Georgie's are very efficient. They do an excellent job of getting diners in and out of the restaurant. Georgie's Beachside Grill is beautifully decorated in pastel colors. The layout of the restaurant is such that there is not a bad seat in the house. All diners are given a good view of the ocean. Georgie's clam chowder is among the world's best. Their chowder is New England style and it's so thick that your spoon will almost stand up in it. The clam chowder here has a wonderful milk and butter flavor. The kitchen staff at Georgie's Beachside Grill is adept at everything from hamburgers to blackberry barbecued salmon salad. Their oysters and razor clams are superb. Georgie's also offers delicious desserts. Many people have told me that Georgie's Beachside Grill is one of the best restaurants in Newport. I'd go even farther than that. Georgie's Beachside Grill is one of the best restaurants on the entire Oregon Coast!

  • P B.

Horrible food with unbeatable ocean views. It's all about priorities. Salmon and shrimp had been previously frozen. Seriously. Frozen seafood on the ocean. No thanks.

    (1)
  • Kelsey M.

Georgie's deserves 5 stars for one dish alone: Diablo Seafood Pasta. It is to die for, and not nearly as spicy as the name implies. It's a bit pricey, but so worth it. The pasta is loaded with smoked salmon, scallops, and shrimp in a very rich tangy cream sauce. It is my "usual" and never disappoints. Other people in my family rave about their usuals as well, those being razor clams and the fish tacos. The other dishes are mediocre, so I would recommend getting one of those three. Pro tip: If you sit in the bar, you can often skip the dinner rush wait and avoid all the tourist families with obnoxious small children. Added bonuses: sweeping ocean view, good service, killer sourdough bread, stiff cocktails in the bar.

Love this place. I usually had dinners only here which were great but then I found out about their breakfast. The corned beef hash is absolutely amazing. All fresh and homemade, nothing from a can. Its awesome!

This is a great restaurant if you are looking for a nice quiet relaxing meal with family. It does have an older crowd and kind of a stuffy appeal to it, but the delicious food, full bar with incredible concoctions that will have you tipsy from the first sip, and fabulous view of the ocean all make up for that. I highly recommended their seafood and pasta dishes.

Awesome. Best restaurant in town. Bar none.

    (5)
  • Megan B.

The best clam chowder in Newport...hands down. The only complaint - it's an hour wait on weekend nights, which after a long day of traveling (or fishing) isn't worth it.

    (4)
  • Heather J.

Great food, friendly service, family friendly environment. Went on a Wednesday night around 6 and there was a 25 min wait, so call ahead and get on their list. Saved us a lot of time.

  • Ryan A.

My wife and I took a tour of the Oregon Coast, and Georgie's was our favorite meal of the entire trip. The place was packed when we arrived (usually a good sign) and they quoted us a 40 min wait time but it ended up being only 20 min, which I appreciated. The restaurant has a beautiful setting overlooking the beach, but the real reason to come here is the food. I had the Halibut fish tacos, which were amazing. They came with a mango salsa and a chipotle ranch sauce, so they were both sweet and spicy. The portions of fish were large and tasted very fresh. My wife had the blue cheese flat iron steak and absolutely loved it. She said the meat was very tender and the blue cheese with the mushroom sauce gave it great flavor. Both of us were so full from our wonderful meals that we didn't have room for dessert.

  • Lisa H.

Walked down the street from the Shilo Inn for dinner. It was a 30 minute wait, but well worth it! We ordered the seafood diablo pasta and blackened chicken alfredo- large portions and very good. Helpful staff and surprisingly quick service for how busy they were.

  • Monica B.

The view from this restaurant is outstanding. I happened to be there on New Year's Eve as well so was able to enjoy $3 Champagne which was great. The food was good but not exceptional. I had the Salmon Blackened with a baked potato, vegetables and clam chowder. They must have cooked the salmon in butter because it was greasy but the seasoning was great. I had a marionberry crisp for dessert and it wasn't quite cooked long enough so the crisp topping was a bit gummy. I may eat here again if I'm in the area but it's not a place I would go out of my way to dine at.

  • Dave E.

Great view, great food. The clam chowder is off the charts and the halibut tacos are amazing! The bad reviews on the ribs and chicken? Can't really speak for that, when I go to the coast, I want seafood, and Georgies does that really well! Couldn't ask for more for under $20 a plate.

Had breakfast with my daughter here last Sunday. We were both very pleased with both service and food. She had a Belgian Waffle and I had the Croissant French Toast - delicious!!! Our waitress was friendly & helpful; the view was perfect. If you're in Newport, be sure to eat here!

Great service even when things go wrong. I had to hold back on this one because earlier this year we were on the coast and the SeaFood Sourdough bowl had mold. This was off season and they more than likely do not go through their food stocks as fast as summer. To there credit, Georgie's server immediately pick up the bill for breakfast for our table. Removed the offending dishes and replaced them with our choice of menu items. We left a huge tip for her. We went there again in March sense we were staying in the hotel. We always enjoy sitting near the window and watching the ocean encroach onto beach while eating breakfast. This time I had the Seafood Sourdough again. They put Hollandaise sauce over the top of mix of shrimp, scollops, crab, etc. I did find this dish a nice serving of seafood, but it lacked flavor. Regular breakfast fair is good and you can't go wrong when ordering bacon and eggs, if that is what you eat while visiting the coast. I still need to find the quintessential seafood breakfast place. We will contenue to come back here for breakfast.

One of two places that the front desk at the Holiday Inn recommended for seafood. Good food and a great view. We went after the lunch crowd so we got a window table right away. Wife had the seafood fettucini that was loaded with seafood and I had the fisherman's stew --I think it was called. Mine had a lot of crab legs, clams, and salmon (picture posted) for $18. If I got this dish in southern CA, I'd probably have to pay double.

After five days of sea food I needed a steak made to perfection. There were no reviews on yelp for the strip we were on in Newport for steak, so we started asking locals, and regular vacationers. This was the spot for steaks! If you like seafood, three people from our party was on cloud nine eating the razor clams. The caesar salad was not the best (no taste), but the chicken on top was not to be missed!

Great place, great staff, great food. The place was very busy and yet we were able to get in and eat in a very reasonable time. Oh yeah, also, great view of the coast from just about any seat in the house.

Maybe we visited this resteraunt at the wrong time with the wrong cook but the food wasnt that great and the portion sizes were extremely small for the price. We have been here before and it was also just "ok" then as well, The reason we came back is because they have a fantastic view from their bar/dining room overlooking the ocean. We came for breakfast both times and all of the reviews talk about their lunches and dinner so maybe we will give it one more shot and come another time other then breakfast. I paid $10 for sausage eggs and potatoes. I didnt even get toast with it. I never am able to finish my breakfast at most places with normal portion sizes and not only did I clean my plate here I helped my husband eat his chicken fried steak. (which was pretty good). Overall, we would come again but I will order something different next time thats more filling for the money. Like the Chicken Fried Steak. :)

Came here after giving up on the rest of Newport. I have to confess that I was in a rough mood when I arrived. On a vacation through Oregon, I was marketed into thinking Newport would be a great end point for a day of touring the coast. Sadly, the dockside cafes in Newport all turned out to be pretty weak. Moseyed up here and saw a few others who seemed to arrive at the same conclusion and despaired here rather than go home hungry. With that noted, this restaurant was actually pretty good. I would definitely not go out of my way to eat here, but if you are in Newport and need to dine, this was pretty much it and a good choice. Would probably be much more positive if I had stumbled upon Georgie's before being disappointed in the choices down by the docks.

Dinner: Ordered steamer clam & mussel combo from appetizer menu. Wonderful, nice broth with a great "mirepoix" & wine broth with crispy garlic cheese bread - Excellent. Clam chowder was buttery and creamy with a solid amount of clams. Caesar salad was a real bust. Flavorless dressing, lightly coated romaine that was very finely chopped. Sent it back (and the server kindly removed from the bill). Server was poor at best, not paying attention to our table & only asking from afar if things were going well.

I had the sauté seafood sampler, and it was really out of this world. It had prawns, scallops, halibut, clams, shrimp, salmon, and mussels. Wow! Did I mention how good it was? My baked potato was microwaved, but it wasn't that watery mess some microwaved potatoes are in restaurants. I had it loaded--butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon, and something else that I;m forgetting. The wine was an Oregon wine. I can't remember what it was, but it was not sweet nor dry, just between them.

Georgies Beach Side Grill TJ says: Charlie and I love food, and we're not tremendously picky. OF course some places really stand out as being fantastic or, well, not so much. Finding a great breakfast nook in Newport was surprisingly more challenging than one would think. Ultimately we ended up at Georgie's Beachside Grill. It's a restaurant that serves a hotel, right on the pacific ocean in Newport. The ocean view was lovely. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on an English muffin. The menu indicated that the muffin would be lightly toasted - I've never known that to mean saturated in oil - which is how it came. It literally dripped oil. Maybe some people like oil dipped English muffins, maybe it's a thing - but I couldn't eat more than a few bites and certainly don't feel the need to go back to Georgie's. I don't remember what Charlie had - I think his plate was a bit better than mine. Charlie says: I had two eggs over easy with toast and homefries. I know it seems like a hard thing to mess up, but the eggs were undercooked (the egg whites were runny) and the homefries were just downright lousy. It was a very dissatisfying experience. I would recommend taking the time to find a proper breakfast place instead of coming here. I think we ended up eating lunch within a couple of hours of leaving.

I had the clam chowder, and the halibut fish and chips. The clam chowder had lots of flavor. You could taste the clams, bacon, and potatos. The halibut was dipped in an ale batter and deep fried to perfection. I wish I had got three pieces instead of two. The chips were... disappointing. I don't understand how anyone could fry the fish to perfection and mess the fries up so badly. I could wring grease out of them. My wife had the sea scallops provencale. She says it was very good. Even though the place was packed, and there was a waiting list; the service was very good.

This restaurant was recommended to us by our B&B hosts because of its vegetarian options and it clearly did not disappoint. Everything we ordered I would highly recommend. For drinks we kept it non-alcoholic with some raspberry lemonade. Seriously...order it. It was perfect. Not too sweet, not too syrupy tasting. Perfect. We started with fried zucchini sticks. Up until last night I've only had super small, stubby sticks, but Georgie's were long and thick (ha) and tasted incredibly fresh. The breading was delicious. Next up was the french onion soup. Pretty excellent. It didn't have the baked cheese over the top like I'm used to on the East Coast, but instead had the cheese on the bottom. This was a pleasantly delicious surprise. For our main course we both ordered Vegetarian Diablo (we normally don't do that but the description was the most appealing). SO GOOD! Really fresh vegetables (and I know for a fact they were fresh and not frozen because of the texture), including broccoli, zucchini, squash and onions, tossed with fettuccine in a fab cream sauce. I normally don't do cream sauces because of how heavy it is, but this was perfect. Clearly, we had zero room for dessert in our ever-expanding stomachs, but the options looked ridiculously good. How I wish I could comment on the desserts! People seem to have issues with the service. The place must have really cleaned their act up since, because our server, Tami, was really attentive and friendly and the service in general was fast. So incredibly satisfied with the entire experience. From the service, to the food, to the amazing view of the Pacific, this place is it. The price is right, too. Considering the quality of the food and the large portions, it was more than reasonably priced.

The prices were on the high side, and what with the suggested wine pairings (fancy-schmancy!), I expected the food to be good. We'd been on the road and were starving, so we ate the food, but we won't be returning. This restaurant needs to be redecorated, but the food is the thing, we told ourselves. My husband and I ordered the crab cakes and the shrimp piccata. The crab cakes were nicely fried and covered with a zesty salsa, but the cakes themselves were mushy and wet without any discernible crab. Imagine making a tuna at home with a lot of mayo and then forming it into cakes and frying. Someone obviously doesn't know the difference between BINDER and FILLER. The garlic mashed potatoes were yummy and fresh veg was cooked perfectly. The shrimp piccata was a bit measly portion-wise, and it arrived warm, not hot. The sauce was nice, the shrimp overcooked. The service was good, and fast, but again, at these prices, I don't think so, Georgie's.

Seems like an okay place. They can make vegan linguine, which helped us out in a pinch while my wife and I were traveling the coast.

Some friends and I stopped by here for lunch when we were visiting the coast. The view of the ocean from our table was great, and just what we had been looking for. Between us, we ended up ordering halibut and chips, shrimp and chips, clam chowder, and a crab burger (mine). I was quite happy with my burger, it tasted delightful; the only problem was that the whole thing lost its structural integrity after a few bites and I had to pick at it with a fork. Oh well. I think that is a problem with crab patties generally. Everyone else liked what they got, too. The decor was uninspired, to say the least. I guess when you have a great ocean view, you don't feel the need to have a nice-looking interior. So that was disappointing. Our service was mediocre (no drink refills until we were just about to leave...I hate that, it feels like I'm wasting soda.) All in all, I would go here again. Despite a few blips, it was still a fun lunch.

  • Dave B.

Loved every bit of our dinner...was a great place to go on the last night of our Newport vacation. First of all the interior is not as drab as some reviewers have said. We went on a Monday night about an hour before sunset and were told it would be a 25 minute wait, which would have been fine...but our wait ended up being only 10 minutes. Sat in a booth and both of us had great views of the waves. Shared a bottle of an Oregon pinot gris...wine prices are reasonable. After an afternoon building sandcastles at South Beach we were very hungry and ordered several items. I started off with the coconut shrimp. Five decent sized shrimp with a tasty coconut batter topped with a fruity salsa and shredded coconut. Delicious. Wife started with steamed mussels in a simple broth - the mussels were huge! And she loved them. None of the restaurants we went to prior to Georgie's had mussels on the menu and my wife was craving them (actually it's one of the things that drew us to Georgie's for our final dinner). Next I had a cup of chowder. Very thick and flavorful, full of good-sized clams, definitely one of the better clam chowders I've had. Entrees: I had the halibut tacos which were loaded with finely-battered fish and I think it might have been the same mango salsa that was on the coconut shrimp. Comes with a side of chipotle sauce. Wife had the seafood pasta which was loaded with seafood. Some places might just give you a few pieces of shrimp but Georgie's packs in a lot of shrimp, crab, fish and scallops. She said it was fantastic. Prices are a little on the high side. They have their extensive menu posted online on their website so check it out. Both of us highly recommend Georgie's and will be returning next time we visit Newport.

I'm going to go with a flip flopped experience of Lorri E's. I would say yeah, 5 star views, 4 star food, and 1-2 star service. I came in here with two guys after a motorcycle ride to the coast. They weren't dressed to kill or anything, but we were just looking for some grub and the kick ass seafood joint in Waldport was shut down for good. So we ended up here, and I'm going to have to say it was a waste of money. Service was really shitty. The waitress was not a fan of us, judging my friends based on their attire, and me on my desire to make menu substitutions. I'm sorry, I don't eat meat and only eat certain seafood. And unless your shit is premade, I don't see why it should be that big of a deal. After asking for the ability to make menu adjustments, she ignored my request for a drink, just walking away without even looking back. On the food, meh for the clams. They were tiny and the broth hardly had any flavor. My portobello burger was surprisingly delicious, but my friend's food didn't look too appetizing. Had it not been for the snooty waitress, I would have gone with 3.5, maybe 4 stars, but the bitch attitude completely ruined it for me. Also, it did seem a little overpriced, but that should be expected for any waterfront dining.

Great views! We both ordered the rib special, not a great idea. My mom says you don't order spaghetti in a Chineses Resturant . The ribs were soggy and tasteless. We should have ordered fish. Their clam chowder was thick and very good. The service was very spotty. They needed to clean the ceiling fans. I kept watching the dust fling across the room.

Went here while on a family vacation based on previous Yelp reviews. I had the chicken fried steak and ohhhh man... it was MMM MMM Good! Huge portion too that took up two plates. The batter and steak were excellent, and the gravy was perfect. Also, my wife and I were both commenting on how delicious the coffee was. I would definitely go again.

The clam chowder is to die for, the view is spectacular. We also ordered the fried seafood sampler, I was hoping for halibet, and prawns, the went fast. Fried clams, oysters and scallops were great. Definitely a feast to share, Sharon was of great service and brought plenty of warm homemade sour dough.:)

Yelp advises me that a rating of two stars equals "Meh. I've experienced better." And in honesty, that pretty well sums it up. On the upside, they do have nice views of the ocean. And friendly service. 5 star views, 4 star service, 2 star food. I was torn and wanted to give 2.5 stars overall. I am sorry, Georgie's. I tried really hard to like you. I wanted to like you too, but in the bright light of day you are still coyote ugly when I am really honest with myself about it. The service was great--in fact, I give the servers 4 stars for trying to kick this place up a notch. The service was better than many finer restaurants I have eaten in. But that doesn't make up for the food and that is what people are going out to eat for. The food is just overpriced and bland, and when combined with high cost, drags this review down to 2.5 stars. I had two dinners and one breakfast here, for the sole reason that I was staying at the attached hotel (Hallmark) so this was very convenient. Another bonus is they offer room service to Hallmark. When you just want to veg out in front of the ocean without getting out of your jammies, room service is very nice. To put context around it (at least that is what I kept telling myself so I didn't cry over paying the bill), this is Newport, a small-ish Oregon coastal town...not a big city with big city fancy-pants chefs. Still, a little seasoning salt, perhaps a bit of butter, or herbs, and some sauce here and there would make this SO MUCH better. I ate the halibut filet which was fresh and perfectly cooked...but had no seasoning that I could discern. After a few bites, I was like...blah...this is just...so bland. That said, the baked potatoes are great...really baked and crispy on the outside. That was the highlight of my meal. Breakfast was pretty good, all things considered. Room service was quick and friendly. But the dinners were both very bland, and yes, there seem to be many fried choices as another reviewer wrote. All I mean is that if you want fried food, it typically costs way less than this. It would have been just fine for an average meal, had they been charging average meal prices. But they aren't--they are totally overpriced for the menu and general quality of the dishes. Here is a tip: Go outside and see the ocean view for free, and then probably go eat someplace else. In fact, if you go outside and make a bonfire right on the beach, you can still enjoy the view and eat dinner for about 1/10th of this price. And while it won't be a healthy meal (unless you count hot dogs and s'mores as healthy), it will probably have more flavor. Truth is, I probably can't really recommend it that highly, unless you are staying at the Hallmark and are feeling lazy and want room service and have loads of fat cash. Or, you know, if bland or low sodium diets are your thing. In that case, it is probably fine.

We have eaten here through the years and the Diablo Seafood Pasta has always been great. It still is. The price for some may seem expensive but if you consider that they just try to make money during the peak season, it won't seem as much.

After a horrible dining experience down the street at the Shilo Inns restaurant, coming to Georgie's was a marvelous evening meal experience. The staff seated our family of 5 (9,7 and 4) immediately, provided us with kids' menus and quickly-served cocktails. The waitress was very friendly, very accommodating, and very quick with food and drink delivery. We had the exact same meals (on the menu) as the Shilo Inns meals, but these were quite a bit better. The lettuce was fresh (unlike the Shilo Inns lettuce - which was moderately wilted), and the food well prepared. The kids got a prize from the treasure chest at the end of the meal, and the coloring pages were put in the backs of the kids menus for all to see. I would highly recommend this restaurant, especially for families.

Came here with the parents on a visit to Oregon. Never really know what to think about parents choices.. (Usually good= big portions of mediocre food) NOT The case a Georgies... A drink that tasted a little off was replaced and not charged for. a salad substitued for veggies was given in addtion to them at no charge.. And the food was Excellent in taste and portions were quite generous, I had the Halibut tacos, wow! great coating on the fish and amazing salsa. Prime rib Chili was the best chili I've ever tasted.. Clam chowder was better than what I serve at my own restaurant!! Tasted the basil garlic prawns... YUM Prime Rib was perfect too! Definately don't ,iss this place!

All the people who say this is e place for clam chowder must not have had good clam chowder in their life. No seasoning at all, so put a handful of pepper in to help. Soup aspect was made with straight flour. Large menu will help you pick something more desirable. Service was acceptable being busy.

Hangtown Fry & Coastal Stuffer were both amazing seafood choices off the brunch menu! The service, drinks and ocean view also made it a perfect Newport experience! An added bonus was catching a glimpse of the grey whales feeding in the kelp beds.

I like this place and go each visit to the coast, a local referred me here. The food's good, the service attentive and the price is reasonable. THE VIEW is the thing here (ocean front), the seafood sandwiches or dishes, and i dream of the creme brulee (nirvana). UPDATE: another visit in October 2007. mmmmm. I got the chowder and something else (err, sorry, chowdah was the star and can't remember what else i had). I may have to tie my "best" Oregon chowder to Georgie's (tied with Blackfish in Lincoln). This was great chowdah, with the most clams in a spoonful that I've ever seen.

Came in for dinner with my wife. We were quickly seated at a nice table right next to the window overlooking the beach. Great view, nice atmosphere without being stuffy, the staff was friendly and service was good. My wife had garlic shrimp and I had the prime rib chili. We had come for seafood, but I was a little worried when I noticed a couple of tables near me were finished with their meal and there was still a lot of fish on some of the plates. With the garlic shrimp, the garlic seems to be the main course, with the shrimp used to flavor it. We both like garlic, but it's a seasoning, not an entree! The prime rib chili was chocked full of meat, with cubes of beef nearly outnumbering the beans, but as for flavor, this chili won't win any cook-offs. Canned chili has better flavor. To the person who reviewed this as the best prime rib chili they ever had, I am truly sorry for you. Coming in, this place was looking great and had everything going for it, but if the food isn't good, all those other things don't matter.

We had a nice dinner at Georgie's. We were both happy with our dinner. My steak was more on the well side which seems to happen when I order med-well, probably my fault, I should start ordering medium. Other than that portion size seemed good for the price. Big pile of yummy garlic mashed potatoes. Husband had a seafood pasta and they didn't jip him on the seafood part! The only thing we weren't thrilled with was the white chocolate cheesecake. (Sorry, but Safeway has a better cheesecake). We were there at night so we didn't get to enjoy the ocean view but I'm sure it's lovely. Friendly staff, we went on a friday night around 7:30 and were seated immediately. One appetizer, steak entree, seafood pasta entree, two sodas and one dessert was $55.00 before tip.

A bit off the beaten path, this little seaside restaurant has very good food and a fantastic view of the Pacific and Yaquina Head Lighthouse a couple miles up the coast. Can be a little crowded with the guest from the attached resort dining there and the service can be a bit slow when they are busy. We have never had a bad meal here. Breakfast is just as good as dinner. Do try to get a window table, we have seen grey whales passing by not far offshore from there.

This place is busy on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. We waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive. The waitress was very sympathetic to the wait and brought us clam chowder. That helped ease the pain of waiting for food. The food was good when it arrived. A lot of our meal was comp for the long wait. Bravo!! For customer service. BTW the view is awesome from anywhere in the restaurant.

Decent regular run of the mill grill food. Great view from the dining area. Easy place to take family and kids for a meal. Think of a notch above a diner. Had a nice cheese burger. I don't make it a point of coming here. Service staff are great! Still trying to understand why this place is serving crab cakes made with blue crabs (east coast crab) instead of Dungeness crab. Newport is after all the "Dungeness Crab Capital of the World"!

We stayed at the Hallmark and had both dinner and breakfast at Georgie's. The food was good. The dinner service was terrible. Seemed like waiting on us was an inconvienence. We decided to try again for breakfast and the service was much better!

Got take out from here. Food was good service was great. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is due to the breading on the halibut, for the halibut and chips, was a little bland but the halibut was cooked perfectly. Do really recommend it though

***Blackened Crab sandwich $10.25, large crabcake served on a bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, slightly cajun-spiced, served w/ fries, delicious. ***"Award Winning" Clam Chowder (bowl) $4.95, award was not specified so we inquired. Waitress explained the chowder won first place in a local (Newport, OR) chowder competition, oyster crackers, fairly standard. ***Seafood Melt $9.45, mixed shreded seafood with melted cheese on a bun, pretty good ***Pepsi $1.75 *** 4-piece Fish & Chips $15.95, can also choose from 2 & 3 piece. ***White Chocolate Cheesecake $5.95, very good, loved the crispy/crunchy? oreo-like crust Fresh hot rolls w/ butter were served with the meal. Chocolate mints at the end. Friendly, professional staff. Wednesday, 3pm. 70% occupancy. Great view. 3 tiers of tables: window (best), loft, back wall. A little hard to find. Every year my mother and I attend a quilt retreat at the Shilo in Newport. For our Friday night dinner we walked to Georgies, at the Hallmark Resort just South of the Shilo. It was very crowded... families, groups of friends, and couples were gathered around tables enjoying food and drink. We got the last available table, a tiny one in the far corner of the restaurant. It was already dark outside so we missed out on an ocean view. My mom ordered pecan crusted tilapia and I ordered crab cakes. Both came with soup or salad and choice of starch. When my salad arrived it had NO tomatoes on it. HUH? My mom offered me some of hers. Mom's are just so cool like that! ;) The entrees were good. The tilapia was sweet and tasty. but they went a bit overboard with the nuts, in my opinion. The crab cakes were light and not greasy. The salsa was quite spicy and added a nice kick. We both had rice for the starch and it was very good - a wild rice mixture with lots of flavor and texture. Overall a good step above run of the mill seafood restaurants. Combined with the view this is one of the nicer places where I have eaten on the coast. It isn't really inventive, just good food in a nice setting!

If you have a lot of time to kill, and enjoy sending your dish back to the kitchen almost untouched, I encourage you to check out Georgie's. We were seated immediately in front of the bank of windows looking out to the Pacific and the Yaquina Head lighthouse off to the north. It was late evening, so we were left with little view other than the Coast Guard helicopter running a training mission up and down the shoreline, and the occasional flash of the lighthouse. Service was friendly, but sloooooow. It took at least a half hour to get our first course, and another half hour (or longer -- I lost track of time) to get our entrees. I didn't know that we were signing up for an all-night affair heading into this. I enjoyed the red bean chili -- it was only mildly spicy, but very flavorful. The clam chowder was exceptional, with large chunks of clam, a strong clam flavor, and tempered with chunks of smoky bacon. The highlight of the evening. The loooong evening, in case that was not already apparent by now. Entrees consisted of fettuccine alfredo with chicken, the ribeye, and the fish tacos (with halibut). The fettuccine alfredo was embarrassing -- I have no idea what these poor noodle did to deserve this fate. The alfredo sauce was chunky (in a bad way) with lumps of partially-cooked garlic, and bits of chicken holding on for dear life. My teenage son was eating it, blissfully unaware of the culinary insult he was ingesting. My wife's ribeye steak was a $25 entree, so I expected a reasonable piece of meat. What we got was a thin slab of gritty beef that had absolutely no flavor whatsoever, served with a baked potato whose skin was leathery-hard and inedible. We sent the dish back, and refused to pay for it. The fish tacos were lovely, however -- fresh-grilled halibut with cheese, shredded lettuce, flavorful guacamole, fresh tomato cilantro salsa, and rich sour cream. The corn tortillas they were served in were warm and corny in a good way -- great combination. We didn't dare stay for dessert, because we had already been there for what seemed all night...and in fact WAS all night. So my son picked up a couple of the cookies a'la mode to go, which looked reasonable (huge portions). I tried some of the whipped cream and chocolate sauce that topped the cookies (purely in the spirit of this review, I assure you) and thought it was pretty good -- tasty, but not overly store-bought tasting. All things considered, I will not be returning to Georgie's. However, if YOU find yourself with absolutely no other options for dining in a 50 mile radius, have a few hours to commit to the endeavor, and have appropriate expectations (navigating the menu with care), check it out!

I had the Clam chowder, The Creme Brulee' and the Seared Ahi Tuna. The clam chowder was the absolute best I have ever had. And I LOVE clam chowder. The Creme Brulee' was amazing as was the Tuna. We went back 3 times in one weekend it was that good! I would recomend going. I am going back on my next trip!

Good restaurant for kids and adults. We were staying at the shilo inn and this was an affordable nice place close by. Clam chowder and bread was good. Lots of options on the menu with good choices between $10 and $20. Service was excellent even on a busy night. Food was pretty good and portions were large.

What a view! I read a review for Georgie's in a book and had little idea what to expect it to be like, and when I saw it connected to a hotel and looking like your typical restaurant-attached-to-a-hotel, my expectations dropped quite a bit. But take one step inside and through to the wall of windows out to the Pacific and it's jaw-dropping time. I grew up by the ocean in California so Im not easily impressed by seascapes but this one is perfect, complete with long beach and lighthouse in the distance. Nearly every table has a view, as well. But good views alone don't make a restaurant great. Luckily Georgie's had the goods to back it up. My fish, crab, and shrimp sandwich was among the best sandwiches Ive ever had (ask for avocado on it, sooo good). Our server was very friendly and our food came promptly even though it was a busy day. The only thing I didnt like was the fries, which were pretty sad. But that's a small quibble. My companions and I loved this place, we'd definitely come back.

My wife and I have eaten here several times and had dinner there last weekend. Some of the poor reviews surprised me, so I was a bit apprehensive. No worries, though, the food, service, and views were as good as always. We were seated quickly, staff was friendly and helpful, the food was very good, and the view was, as always, awesome.

The place was kind of slow. It took them a while to take our order and then it took a while for the food to get there. We had a salmon salad and halibut tacos. The kids had hamburger sliders and a hotdog. The food was good. The view was good. Waitress was not very friendly and didn't fill up drinks.

I'm giving it 4 stars (I was toying with 3.5 if there would have been such a thing as half stars) and mostly its for service which was stellar! Pearl was our waitress did not disappoint, very attentive and though her section was busy (I think this restaurant stays busy) our food came out fast. The host, was a little pompous, I didn't even bother to look at his name I wanted our interaction to be as short as possible. The food, which was good I wouldn't call it excellent and hence the issue of price, (like other complaints I read) is a bit too high for what you get. I think they are going for "fancy restaurant" angle but the decor has failed them. The only thing going for them is the beach view... All in all It wasn't a bad experience because service does make a huge difference...if they ever read reviews, they need to adjust their prices down or do something with the decor and have even better food to match the price.

This restaurant sits next to Hallmark Inn. We had a late breakfast there. Selections and quality were very good. Ocean view is the best. Others in our group had dinners there and all seemed to be pleased. We did visit their bar area and the beer choices seemed limited; but other places nearby for that. Overall, good choice for a meal.

Great food and customer service. Love the view. For Oregon, it has the best clam chowder.

Found this little Oregon gem driving down from Seattle to San Francisco. Gorgeous ocean views, clam chowder thicker than an Irish accent and giddy wait staff who can't boast enough about all the new beers on tap! Oh, and whale watching...all within 2 blocks of the 101 highway.

I ordered the cod with fries it was very good: as fresh as it could get. The service was great' thanks Pearl (our waitress). The cost was a bit on the high side, the view of the ocean was great I would recommend to anybody that wants fresh sea food.

The dinner was delightful! Baked salmon filled with crab. Fresh veggies , Very nice selection of fish. Hubby had a rib eye and was happy as well.

We found it was difficult to get a weekend reservation for 11. We had to come at 4 but it was better than 8 as we watched waves coming in and kites flying high over the ocean. When was the last time you made a reservation and the person came by your table yo introduce themselves? Free desserts for our 45th anniversary:)

We were not impressed by this place at all. The service was very good, but the food was awful. The calamari was so greasy there were pools of oil on the bottom of the plate. They also tasted bitter, so they must have been cooked in old oil along with bing slightly too brown. My salmon must have been done first and just sat under the heat lamp because it was super dry. The garlic mash was meh and the steamed broccoli definitely felt like an afterthought. The price didn't reflect the quality of the food at all. Overpriced and less than mediocre food.

Wonderful view, friendly service, mediocre, overpriced food. My wife had the oysters I had the salmon, both were thoroughly middle of the road. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came straight out of a box - gritty and bland. I would still recommend the place based solely on the ambience but the food is twice as expensive as it is good.

Went here tonight for a "fancy" dinner. Ordered a bowl of chowder to share as an appetizer and it was AMAZING. I ordered Diablo seafood pasta and was terribly disappointed. It just did. Not. Taste. Good. Thankfully the waitress was nice enough to take it back and let me order something else. I ordered the deep fried shrimp with a baked potato. It was good. Generic deep fried food. My husband ordered the stuffed salmon and said it was good but he wasn't too impressed. Overall, it's alright, but highly overrated.

I have vacationed in and around Newport multiple times over the years and this was the top place I've eaten. The service was friendly and attentive and fast. The views from just about every seat in the restaurant were amazing. And my food was very good. For just $13 the Diablo pasta had an abundant amount of sweet, fresh and yummy seafood. Everybody else in my party was happy with their food as well. I will definitely be coming back should I be in the Newport area again.

Great if you like seafood not a huge selection besides that. The view of the beach is phenominal at sunset and worth the price of the meal on its own. My burger was phenominal and my mothers chicken topped salad was great as well. Our waitress was great and the prices weren't as high as we expected. Definitely would recommend if you're staying for the night.

Got the crab/artichoke fondue...needed seasoning, and wss over-the-top rich...and the crab meat was cold, and had quite a few shells. Also had the seafood saute which was ok, the fish was dry, and had a clam that didn't open :/ all in all, a rather expensive, mediocre seafood experience...nothing to write home about

Best clam chowder my husband has ever had. Beautiful setting and reasonable prices. Walked in thinking it would be a high end restaurant due to its beautiful decor but pleasantly surprised at the reasonable prices. They also have a treasure chest with toys for the kids.

The waitress we had, I wish I could remember her name, she was wonderful. It was a super busy Saturday night, she was very attentive and didn't forget a single thing. The food was delicious. We had the crab and artichoke fondue for an appetizer which was great. I had the blackened chicken breast topped with shrimp, which I order it again and again. My aunt had the half of a Dungeness crab which she also enjoyed. The garlic mashed potatoes didn't taste every garlic but they were good none the less. The wait was long but we didn't mind as we had other things to do in the mean time, plus it was a full house so it was understandable.

This place was pretty good! The pasta that my girlfriend got was delicious and filling. My steak was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The mashed potatoes had a lot of flavor. The burger that the boy got was quite large and cooked well. He ate all of the French fries. The only thing keeping this from being a five star review is that the selections were a bit sparse in some departments (only a couple chicken and steak options, with a lot of seafood). I wouldn't normally knock it down a star for that but when a place is primarily seafood you would think they would call it something other than a grill. Maybe a seafood grill. Just not quite what the expectation was going in.

Wow. 5 star service, 5 star food, 5 star view. I had the clam chowder, which rivals "Mo's". My wife had the chicken breast with pasta and garlic bread. All good. Wow. What a meal!

This is by far the best meal I've had in Newport, we dined here two evenings in a row. Must have the crab cocktail. This was high quality and a decent sized portion. I had this with the prime rib chili which was both creative and flavorful - it has strong mole and red chile flavors in it. The service was impeccable. This visit gets 5+ stars. For the second visit I had the same meal again and it was just as delicious. The waiter though really made this a three star visit - there is a lot he could learn from his colleagues. He made us feel rushed - I don't visit a nice restaurant on the coast to feel rushed through my meal. When we ordered we told the waiter we wanted the crab cocktails first and then the chili. He brought out the chili less than five minutes after serving the crab. When I told him it was too soon he said there was nothing he could do about it and offered to put it under a heat lamp. An experienced waiter would have waited to put the order in for the chili instead of putting it all in at once. This was a three star visit due to the service.

Everyone seems to rave about this place. I think it's mediocre at best. I've eaten here three times this week, as it is attached to the lovely hotel where I've spent my honeymoon. Convenience, thy name is Georgie's. My first meal, seafood linguine, was under seasoned, and my shrimp were not properly cleaned. My second, a burger delivered via room service, was also lackluster in the taste department. They also charged me a whole dollar to add bbq sauce. Why? Tonight We were tired. We are here again. Another mediocre performance. I don't understand why everyone loves this place. It's overpriced for the less than stellar quality.

The chowder is without doubt THE BEST IN OREGON! I dine on two things each time; chowder and calamari. Both are absolutely delicious. The sauce for the calamari is also better than anything I've had elsewhere. Q: How do you know this is the best place in town? A: With all the options available in this high tourist traffic town, it's where the locals eat! For us it's about a 4 hour drive and have made it on two occasions for no other reason than to grab a meal here. If you're in town, or planning a trip to the coast, this is a 'can't miss' place to eat (GREAT ocean views too). Oh....and I NEVER go without getting some chowder to go. If that stuff was injectable I think I'd give it a try!

Went to Georgie's for dinner last night and Husband and I were very pleased with everything :) We opted to wait for a window table, which was well worth the extra few minutes as we caught the sunset! Our waiter was great! He saw that we had our 10mo old with us, who of course didn't nap all day due to our exciting beach venture, so with our menus came a package of oyster crackers! We ordered the crab and artichoke fondue to start. YUM! It's so cheesy and crabby! There was plenty left over. My husband ordered the seafood alfredo, I think it may have been called the Diablo seafood Alfredo. It was delicious! It had a mix of shrimp, scallops and fish in a creamy, sweet chili Alfredo sauce. Definitely recommend this! I ordered the sautéed seafood sampler. It was good, but not amazing. It came with an assortment of shrimps, scallops, clams, oysters, white fish and salmon. The sauce was very garlic rich, which I love! I chose the garlic mashed potatoes to go with and they had very good flavor but were a little dense/dry for me. Overall this is a great place! Most people were beach/local causal, as were we so it has the ability to be dressy but it's not necessary.

I was very hopeful when taking my boyfriend for his birthday dinner. This place came highly recommended and did not disappoint! We started off with the coconut shrimp which were amazing with the mango salsa over the top. I enjoyed the stuffed salmon which was also amazing. I have to admit that the garlic mashed potatoes weren't anything to write home about but that salmon more than made up for it. He had a New York steak with mushrooms and shrimp on top which was perfectly prepared and melted in your mouth. It was paired with a delicious herbed rice. Yumm! The experience was topped off with an amazing ocean view! They don't take reservations so plan to get there early if you'd like a window at sunset. Although it was a busy night and a 40 min wait in the dining room, we were able to get an equally beautiful view and great service in the bar area.

There's nothing particularly interesting or good about Georgie's other than the view. The menu is simple fare served in a slightly up-scale looking environment. The menu is tired, old, and "safe". By one look at the menu (and clientele) will you that easy digestion and simple, non-threatening dishes were the goal when this menu were created. Club sandwich, anyone? Our lunch was disappointing, but not a total failure. The fried cod and potato salad I had were very good. That's where it stopped, unfortunately. The honey-balsamic chicken wrap my friend ordered was so bad we sent it back and ordered something else. It wasn't made incorrectly--it just tasted awful. Chicken croissant club ordered in its place was better, but still uninteresting. As for the "best onion rings ever"? Terrible! They're straight up Sysco brand pre-battered frozen rings. I have bought the exact same ones from Cash and Carry. Thank God they were only $3.95. We also had a crab cake. This poor crab... dungeness though he was, he was smothered in some overly sweet tropical mango/pineapple sauce/salsa. He also had a handful or two of cabbage thrown on top of him. $11.95 for ONE destroyed crab cake. Overall, I'd rate Georgie's as a "safe" option in a tourist town full of terrible restaurants.

This may be the best restaurant on the Oregon coast. Now I realize that's NOT the same as saying the best restaurant in Manhattan, and in fact may be roughly equivalent to saying, 'the best restaurant in Ashtabula, Ohio.' No, no! That's being damned by too faint praise! Georgie's has great ocean views, top notch service, and an excellent menu. It's not cheap, but the increase in price for flawlessly prepared seafood was worth it. If you're putting on the dog, this place works fine. If you haven't any better sense than to wear a hat indoors, you'll still feel right at home here too. I had it from good sources in Salzburg, Austria that this was the place to go when in Newport, Oregon. How can ya argue with a review from over 5000 miles away?!?

First off I've been here once before and we got a window seat to see the ocean, so came in today and requested a window seat and I said I'm willing to wait. We get seated moments later and not by the window. I was very irritated, and seems like no one knows how to smile here either. Very disappointed.

This place will always be busy because of the amazing view. The service is great too. The food is decent. Especially since Newport really lacks in that area. I wish this restaurant would serve a few more fresh items. Organic veggies, humanely raised meats, just fresher! The salad had bagged lettuce. If they would go one notch higher with the ingredients they serve the food would be so much better. Honestly, the recipes are great....but I bet they purchase their meat from CASH AND CARRY. Again, the service is wonderful. They will always be busy. The view is wonderful...in the daylight. If you go after dark....obviously you can't see the ocean. The food is decent. High priced though. It would be worth the price if they upgraded the ingredients they used, but why would they do that when we all go now and pay their prices? My dream would be to read the words GRASS FED on the menu. No way.... I like eating there, but I struggle with the quality of meat and veggies even though they are cooked well. Damn GMOs.

My husband and I went here for the first time yesterday and it was absolutely amazing!we had an ocean view & Our server was Jose,he was very friendly. We went here for lunch because it seemed like it had a nice view. The food turned out to be just as amazing as the view. I had the Halibut fish and chips and my wife had the clam chowder and the cod fish and chips. The Halibut was the best I've had since living in Alaska. We will absolutely be going back here again.

Excellent food. I ordered a blackberry margarita which was HUGE and only $6.00. Delicious! I had the southwestern chicken salad and it was great. A little too spicy but great. Finally I had the creme brûlée, couldn't finish it but it was fantastic. Service was very friendly and the view... You can't beat it. Thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant and will go again! Soon!

We wanted to take in the gorgeous views of Newport Beach, and came across this great spot. The ambience was great and the service was wonderful. We were able to get a seat right near the window, and the view was fantastic. Our server was very helpful and the food came out less than 10 minutes after we placed our order. We split the fish & chips and the halibut tacos. The portions were large, so the two dishes were more than enough for two people. The food was very good.

The Blackberry Salmon - best salmon ever. Grilled salmon with smokey flavor meets blackberry cobbler meets leaf salad with fruit. If you like salmon, order it. You won't be disappointed. Excellent sourdough bread too. Kudos to Chef Alfredo and the staff for preparing such a delicious meal. It was also a treat to be served by Jose.

We've come here many times and it's consistently good; the menu is broad but not all over the place and we always have great service. They have an amazing view of the ocean, probably one of the biggest reasons to give it high marks. Their menu has the standard coastal fare: seafood, chowder, burgers but it's all well-prepared, fresh and tasty. Their halibut tacos are really great and their sandwiches are all pretty swell. My friend enjoys their burgers and their chowder is really tasty too - a nice consistency, not too thick or thin. I also really love their Irish Cream Creme Brulee. This is a great place to stop for lunch on the coast!

My parents and I have eaten at this restaurant quite often. My mom always gets the Blackberry Barbecue Salmon Salad because she loves it so much. It features a 6 oz. pan-roasted salmon filet glazed with blackberry bbq sauce on a bed of fresh romaine lettuce with honey mustard dressing and fresh blackberries and strawberries. My dad got the stuffed salmon (filled with crab, shrimp, cream cheese) and herbs and then baked and finished with a lemon-lime butter sauce. It was served with mashed potatoes. I had shrimp scampi piccata which is shrimp sautéed in olive oil, capers, butter, lemon juice, lemon zest and herbs. It was served with mashed potatoes carrots and broccoli. The food and service were excellent. We highly recommend it.

Four stars says; Great! Rock solid old school seafood joint with rock star view, right there on the beach. Service staff is wonderful. Consistent - food always as expected, good, fish and chips, baked potato, little cup of sour cream, etc... Nice crusty sourdough bread, thick gooey old-fashioned white-based clam chowder. Georgie's could be in Fisherman's Wharf as it is so completely what it is. Have eaten here many times and will again. A fifth star would come with a fresher, slightly smarter wine list (there are a lot of us out here happy to spend seven bucks more to get something more original than what is distributed by Young's Market or Southern Wine and Spirits), and a tiny bit of forward/future restaurant thinking. These traditional places continuing in such traditional ways will go the way of Denny's eventually as those who think them five star move on and are replaced by new oldsters who appreciate dark salad greens and a lighter "broth" in the soup. (Love this place for the view and consistency and staff; my parents - in their nineties - have long loved it as a special occasion.)

Always a great dining experience when in Newport. Don't be afraid of a "Hotel" restaurant as this place has a little everything, including a great view. The Clam Chowder is very good with large pieces of clam and very creamy delicious chowder. They also have a great kids menu including a ticket to the treasure chest on their way out. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Newport you need to check these guys out.

This is a special treat. The views from this restaurant perched above the surf are amazing. When we were there, our oceanview table was overlooking a wedding happening down below - which seemed incredible, as we were there to celebrate our anniversary! They were BUSY, but our server was on top of it. Good bread for the table. The food gorgeously & artfully presented and delicious. He had the tuna, I had the salmon - both were scrumptious. Total bummer - the Creme Brulee wasn't good. It has some kind of Irish Cream or Kahlua in it - blech. BUT our waitress took it off our bill when she saw I didn't like it and hadn't eaten it - we didn't even have to ask her to do it. Definitely recommend and will go back!

I had the vegetarian linguine. The veggies were fresh and well-prepared aka not overcooked. And it was served in a tasty light sauce. It was a very enjoyable meal. Their bread is delicious. The kids menu had plenty of variety. My husband enjoyed his cod and chips. The wait staff was efficient and we had a lovely view of the sunset on the water. The only negative is that the cocktails were weak. I'll stick with wine next time.

The waiters were excellent, the view was excellent, and the atmosphere was very clean and well put together, however the food was very greasy! I had battered shrimp, yea I am aware that it is supposed to be greasy, but this was overly saturated with oil and I soaked my oversized napkin with just my fingers, could not finish it due to this. Not even Chinese food is that bad. Will not go back

Pros: Great view, but we lucked out and got a window seat right. Of course, that means that the poor souls across the aisle were a whole 8 feet further from that great view. Not only was the food as advertised, it was cooked just right! I don't know how they do it, because it couldn't have been more than fifteen minutes from the time we ordered to when we were served. Also, the restaurant didn't bat any eye to substituting something reasonable for a menu item (food allergy, don't you know). The service was fast, helpful, knowledgeable, and cheerful, even in the face of annoying food allergies. Cons: The only sort of minus in my review is that the service is a bit too fast. I think we were in and out in 45 minutes, which is just too fast for a nice seaside meal which we had to work not a few hours to afford. It's nice to linger over the seaside view and a few sips and bites. Note that we weren't rushed, it's just that everything came so fast that we sort of rushed through the meal, and in fact, we were not discouraged in doing so; there was a good line of people waiting for our seats.

This place has THE best Halibut fish & chips! Didnt try the cod but I was told it isnt as good as the Halibut. Also, someone sitting next to me at the bar was from Boston and told me the Clam Chowder there is his preference over home. Wish I had tried it. Perfect views as it is right on the ocean. Super friendly staff from my interactions. I would make a point to go again if I travel back.

Splurged on this restaurant and we were disappointed. The blackened tuna was just average with way too much bland white rice and big hunks of chopped carrots. It would have been OK at an Applebee's.... The 'local' place in the harbor had much more inspired food. The server was excellent. Didn't get to see the view due to darkness and weather.

My boyfriend and I were starving after driving for 3+ hours to newport to come look for housing. I quickly did a yelp search while he drove around the main stretch, Georgie's came up and I said let's give it a try. So glad we did! We were immediately greeted by a welcoming hostess. Sat right away with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Our server came over in a flash and I ordered a cup of clam chowder, AMAZING! And my boyfriend a salad. For our entrees he ordered the Georgie's cheese melt (their take on a Reuben) which was a special. he raved about it and ate more than he should have lol. I ordered the halibut fish and chips (they have a 2,3, or 4 piece which I thought is a great idea). 2 was enough for me after the soup. They were also phenomenal, one of the best I've ever had. Service was fast and efficient. The view is gorgeous. Food was great. Clean restaurant. I have nothing bad to say about Georgie's keep it up! We'll definitely be back.

Family decided to try this restaurant after a day at Oregon Coast Aquarium on this beautiful day. This place was great with its great view of beach, great service, and flavorful food. The Diablo seafood pasta was delicious. The sauce was a perfect blend of sweetness with a nice kick to it. The halibut fish tacos also had a nice kick to them. The hot sourdough bread was so good. All in all, a great time was had by all. If you're ever in Newport, I highly recommend Georgie's!

Ate here for breakfast. It was good. Was craving tuna melt so had lunch here too. Made with tillamook cheddar cheese and tasted great. Server Chelsea was awesome. Weather prevented ocean view but looks like it's a great one! Big comfy booths. Quite a few tables for larger groups.

Ate here for dinner TWO nights in a row with our party. We didn't have to wait at all since they take reservations for 8 or more people. We were blown away both times by the service and quality food. The clam chowder and diablo pasta are to die for. And if you want to stick with something simple like fish and chips, their halibut version is some of the best I've ever had.

Beautiful view, nice restaurant. Our group of 6 had a 30 minute wait on a Saturday evening, but we expected that. Not bad at all. The Diablo Seafood Alfredo is possibly the best seafood Alfredo I've had. Delicious!! My husband raved over his bowl of chili and fettuccini Alfredo. All people in our group left full, satisfied, and having greatly enjoyed their meal!

Busy Saturday night, but you won't know by the service. We were seated after a short 15 minutes wait at a table looking out on the water. The menu is mainly seafood, with some vegetarian, beef and chicken options. I chose the lite (size) Diablo Seafood pasta, which was a plenty of food and so yummy. Hubby had a steak entree which he also loved. Restaurant has a bar area and a pretty good drink list. I really liked the Absolute Raspberry Lemonade. They also have a large selection on the kids menu. What makes this place so great is the location, food and great service. Our water glasses were never empty, table cleared promptly, and even walking out the door they asked about our experience. My daughter left her sweater at the table and the waiter ran after us. (Thank You) Go and enjoy a delicious meal.

Darn! this place keeps getting better. and at this point, I consider it one of the best restaurants in ALL of Oregon. We went again last Saturday evening, and it wasn't too busy at 6pm. Ordered two apps (battered zucchini and fondue) -- both outstanding. Their started bread was to die for as well. For entree, I ordered some vegetarian "diablo" pasta, which was great. cheese sauce, pasta, and yummy veggies. Hubby ordered a bowl of chowder (he said was great) and cod fish and chips. Only negative is that I wish Salem had something similar. Oh well...at least there is a place in Newport that is consistent and great every time we visit.

Awesome food. The coconut shrimp tasted like shrimp donuts... delicious! Im from New England and grew up on clam chowder and theirs is on point. Must get! - Anyway good food.

The food was good but the service failed. We had simple meals, grilled salmon and a steak, which were just fine. The sunset view was really nice. The drink selection was adequate with a full bar, several wines by the glass and about eight taps. We waited about 45 minutes which is OK for a Saturday on a holiday weekend. We were seated in the bar. The two stars are the result of the service. The server was not attentive. Our waters were not refilled. We poured our own wine. Eventually we had to flag our server down to ask for the check. At which point she seemed surprised that we didn't order dessert 20 minutes after our meals were done and our table had been cleared. Once we got the check it took another 10 minutes for them to run it. She must have passed our table 30 times during dinner and only took our original order and dropped off the check after we waved her over. We understand that it was a busy night. The issue is that we perceived other patrons getting more attention. For a place so focused on sales as opposed to experience they missed a lot of opportunities with us.

I went here a few months ago. It was fantastic!! I got the sliders for an appetizer, they were awesome! Highly recommend them. I got the halibut tacos for dinner. They were great, the mango salsa was delicious! I will be going back when I am in town again.

Sometimes service can be pesky. Give us a little room to make up our minds. Yes I understand the context here, the dining room in tiers so everyone can see out to the ocean. Prices a little higher accordingly. You can be a seafood grill and still pay a little attention to the vegetables. I had the sauteed seafood combination and it was wonderful--generous, fresh, and tasty. The chicken tacos burdened a little by the panko, & the seafood fettucine a little light on seafood

Excellent food! Best ahi steak ever, plus veggies were perfectly steamed. Been here multiple times, loved every meal.

Great atmosphere and good prices. $60 for a ribeye and top sirloin. Kids pizza too. The wait staff were great and the view while eating can't be better! We'd go back the next time we come. Decent menu. Reminded us of a crossing between CROSSINGS and GREGS GRILL in Bend. Lots of families since it's next to the Hallmark Hotel so, if your going for an upscale and quite spot, look elsewhere.

Came here for our anniversary and Mike gave us around of drinks to celebrate. Really thoughtful and got us a seat by the window. Great service they took the extra step to make us feel special. Food was ok but overall experience was great!

Avoid if you have kids. Not family friendly. We were ignored for 7 minutes until we got the hostess to take our order.

Ordered food to go from this seemingly fine establishment tonight after reading their good reviews from fellow yelpers. Had the calamari appy and diablo pasta (small size). When I walked in, I paid the hostess and before I'd sat down, she had my order ready. Wonderful! I came home and dug into the pasta. In opening the container, I thought it a little odd that there were two whole dried chilly peppers on top of the dish. Usually, these things are crushed an sprinkled on. I took care of it myself and took a mouthful. It was sweet...I mean not the chili peppers but the whole pasta had sugar in it! What the hell? $17 and the only taste in this food hitting my buds was one that usually belongs in desserts in Italian cooking. FAIL! Next, I had the calamari. I know, I know, appetizers are to be eaten as appetizers but I wanted to save the best for last (as I had heard good things about this calamari from a local). It was a big portion. Came with a lemon wedge and dipping sauce. Sauce was bland with the consistency and feel of margarine. Ewww! What is this? The 80s? Calamari itself was dripping with oil. You're supposed to pad dry them with a paper towel to get the extra oil off before you serve! Guess they were in a hurry. FAIL #2. So, 4 hours later, I have suffered a stomach ache, thrown up once, and have been sitting on the can for the last 15mins typing my reviewing and purging myself of tonight's big mistake. Maybe this was a one off for Georgie's but I'm not gonna risk it a second time. Right now, I think Fred Myers is better than this!!

The staff was excellent, however I was disappointed in the food after reading such good reviews. I had the salmon wrap which ended up tasteless ( except for the fish flavor) and mushy. The potato salad was good though.

Delicious chowder and a very good hamburger! Excellent service, and a great surf view (even on this very stormy day!). Only regret is that we didn't save room for the marionberry cobbler!

I can't believe this place has gotten such good reviews. Sure the view is great but the service is very slow and the food tasted like microwave dinner. My family all got different things and we were all very underwhelmed, including my un-picky six year old. Save your money and head to cafe mundo where everything we've had is delish!

My husband and I went here for an early dinner after visiting the Oregon Aquarium as a recommendation. It was a lot more spendy than we were expecting but it was well worth it. My husband ordered the New York steak and it was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I ordered the deep fried shrimp which was also really yummy! The view is gorgeous, the staff is friendly and very attentive. Amazing place.

A highlight of any trip to the coast is the tasty seafood dinner we are sure to enjoy. We've got our favorite spots, but this time wanted to try something new, and Georgie's was a short distance from our room at the Elizabeth Street Inn. Based on positive feedback (and the fact that we were too lazy to make the 1/2-hour drive to Pier 101 in Lincoln City), we decided to check it out. The best part about Georgie's was the ambience. A wall of windows overlooking the ocean provides a stunning view, and we were able to snag a window table in the lounge. Score! It was one of those gray and drizzly evenings you only experience about 325 days a year on the Oregon coast, so we were thankful for our cozy little spot, complete with a candle. We started with cocktails, neither of which were praiseworthy. My raspberry martini was distressingly pink (that's what I get for ordering a raspberry martini) and only about 2/3 full, naked with the absence of any type of garnish. My wife's Irish coffee was better, but on the strong side. We ordered an appetizer of calamari, and all our troubles disappeared. This generously-sized platter of fresh and succulent lightly breaded calamari rings was probably the tenderest we'd ever had anywhere, and served with a spicy aioli dipping sauce that gave it a zing. The highlight of the meal (and so plentiful we couldn't finish it all). The entrees were decent, but each had highs and lows. My razor clams were breaded in panko crumbs and fried, and again, the portion was big. The menu advertised two, but I received three. They were tender and delicate, slightly chewy in a few spots, but that's par for the course with clams. Unfortunately, the tartar sauce was just about the worst I've ever tasted. Normally it's thick and tangy, but this version was thin and cloyingly sweet. I found it borderline inedible, and had to rely on fresh squeezed lemon to bring out the flavor of the clams. The garlic mashed potatoes accompanying the dish were satisfying enough, but the fresh vegetables - a hastily-cobbled together pile of zucchini, yellow squash, and carrots - appeared to be an afterthought. I realize the focus of the dish is on the seafood, but some restaurants (hello again, Pier 101) really put effort into their veggies, and it shows. My wife ordered the Diablo Seafood Pasta, with shrimp, crab, salmon, and scallops served over fettuccine. As advertised, the dish was both sweet and slightly spicy, heavy on the salmon but skimpy with the other seafood. It was good, but the sweetness was a little odd, and the spiciness crept up on her after awhile. The quartet of seafood jacked the price up to $22.95, definitely on the high side for pasta. Once again, the serving size was generous. Our overall experience? Georgie's was hit-and-miss. Some things they did really well, but others were poorly executed. 3 stars seems just about right.

This place had great service and amazing clam chowder, we had to wait almost an hour to be seated but it was worth it for me. If I'm ever up this way again I will definitely stop.

They do not take reservations but with a call ahead wait list the wait was only 15 minutes. Over an hour for others. Delicious, great service and fantastic view. Halibuts were very good, chowder excellent and shrimp scampi outstanding. Busy room but not overly noisy.

It is very rare that a plate of sea food be so perfectly prepared I would eat it 3 nights in a row, no matter the cost. Last weekend while on my honeymoon in Newport Oregon, such a thing happened. At the hallmark resort, my new husband and I ordered room service, and instead of ordering the "beach side burger" with extra mushrooms like usual, we decided to order the halibut fish and chips. When the plate arrived there were 2 giant pieces of halibut, battered golden, next to a heaping tower of fries. I thought this is way too much food! Quite the contrary. That decadent platter left me smiling, full but not the heavy kind, where you feel like you've eaten a rock. No, no, this was the fabulous kind of full, where you feel absolutely satisfied and with that feeling we ordered that halibut 2 more nights, and never once regretted it. 5 stars Georgie's. Well done.

I love, love, LOVE this restaurant! The staff is very friendly and professional, my husband and I tipped our waiter $10 - worth every penny. The food was so delicious, was prepared quickly and beautifully. We came back every night during our 4-day vacation. I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

    (5)
  • Lauri G.

Food was "meh." I ordered the filet minion and it was a good cut but had no flavor. I had to ask for sauce to make it appealing. The Creme Brule was similarly bland. You pay top dollar but we've had much much better steak and desserts at much cheaper places. Bummer. Won't go back. Foodies go find other places.

We asked the locals where we could get a good steak and great view... So the last night in Newport we ended up her watching the sunset and having a GREAT steak dinner.. ( after 4 days of seafood, I need a steak )

I loved the clam chowder and the flat iron steak. The service was fantastic (Rebecca and Jose were flawless) and the view is incomparable. I would definitely recommend this place and would be back!

This restaurant is very very good. Our second eating day in Newport was so much better than the first day! The first experience was at Local Ocean Seafoods and it was terrible. We went to Georgie's for lunch and I had a fantastic cup of chilli with Prime Rib, dark chocolate, black beans, etc. It was awesome. Then I had a Halibut Fish taco that was excellent. I loved the chipotle ranch sauce that came with it. It blew away the ones I had to send back the night before. My girlfriend had the Caesar Salad with a huge piece of Salmon on it. I'm not a big Salmon guy, but it tasted good and it was a great value. You know how much we liked this place? We liked it so much we came back for dinner! This time I got a bowl of chili and they were nice enough to split it three ways. My girlfriends 10 year old daughter even liked this chili. My main dish was a piece of halibut with coconut in a curry sauce. The sauce was really good. It was served with rice and vegies. I would very much recommend this place if you are ever driving the beautiful Oregon coast line.

  • Kerbey H.

We had the seafood sauté. It was delicious. Light, tasty, and fresh. We also ordered a wild salmon salad to split. The salmon was cooked really well. My kids ordered the cheese pizza and chicken strips. They ate all of it which is rare for my kids. Kids had pictures to color and they got to choose a small treasure from a chest. The view is amazing. Service was great. My only gripe is that I wanted water quicker than they could refill it.

The food is great we had the clam chowder, halibut chips and teriyaki chicken bowl. Everything was above average. I am really writing this review for the customer service. We had Kathy as a server. She was simply amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable. She went far above and beyond what most servers would do for their customers. We will make this place a regular stop every time we come to Newport, we will also be asking for Kathy!

Had a late lunch with my husband yesterday. Delicious!! I had a six cheese macaroni with garlic bread. The macaroni was delicious and the bread was to die for!! My husband had salmon with olive oil and lemon. He said it was good but not like the best ever. Lemonade was a little sweet an the pop was a little flat but the service was great and good was well worth the money. Will definitely be returning next time we are in town.

Also, their breakfast is amazing! This place is probably my favorite restaurant on earth! I got the country scrambler and it was amazing, my sister got the croissant french toast which was also amazing! Love this place.

We had such a great dinner last night, we went back for a late breakfast this morning. A fantastic view, super seafood, and top service. Big crab cocktails (you pay - $17) but worth it. Outstanding chowder. I had seafood pasta arabiata, he had razor clams. I lived mine. The clams are big, flattened and fried. He would pick something different next time. The seafood scramble bowl with hollandaise was to die for and my hash and eggs was great with pico de gallo. Just do it!

How can I put this. If you are coming within an hour or for a true traveller, 4 hours from George's Beachside Grill, you must stop everything you are doing and eat here. I brought my parents here on their first trip to Oregon and we, a table of 4, were all blown away. The view, a huge open view of the beach! The food, if you love clam chowder, don't get it because NOTHING WILL EVER COMPARE AGAIN. lol. Loved the wine choices, loved the seating, but most of all the food, the food was unbelievable! The scallops were melt in your mouth perfection and the chicken alfredo, wow. Ok, stop reading this and run. I will bet you anything you have a great experience!

  • Melissa L.

The most redeeming quality about this place is the view. The food is decent, I had a honey-balsamic chicken wrap that did beat my expectations, but the menu didn't really impress me. I would like to come here for breakfast. The service was friendly once we were seated, but my party of three was hardly acknowledged. Granted, I was here with a local who directed us to go sit in the bar area, but even so - I would expect a friendly hello. The food was good, the table service was good, but I can't get beyond an "A-OK" rating because aside from the view, there was nothing that really jumped out at me about this place. If and when I'm in Newport again, I'd probably come back if not only for the view. Maybe for breakfast - I find most places can do a solid breakfast. I didn't have a bad experience, but again, nothing to make me rant/rave one way or the other.

The decor and prieces ( Entrees averaged $23) suggested better food than was served. To their credit there was a gluten-free menu, but it was little more than selections from the main menu sans the bread or pasta. Overall I enjoyed my dinner (I make a point of it), a "seafood saute sampler". But "swimming in butter sauce" and "breaded and fried" where the theme of the night, among the far-more-diverse-sounding entree names ordered my party. I'm into more imaginative recipes featuring more vegetables and less grease. I'll definitely try the rest of the restaurants in Newport before I come back here.

I always like to try the fresh local seafood when on the coast and I especially enjoy razor clams when they are available. Not only were they some of the best razors I have ever eaten but the portions were huge. I have never been served so much seafood before. The whole meal was great and I could barely manage to finish it. It is a good thing that I was really hungry and wanting some good clams. Also very good service and a great view of the ocean.

My boyfriend and I stopped here for our final romantic dinner on a recent trip. The menu is pretty comprehensive. I ordered a special scallop dish which was good, but the lime sauce was a little overpowering. He had parmesan encrusted halibut which was amazing! I may have swapped plates and eaten part of his dinner. Definitely recommend visiting at sunset. The windows overlook the beach and staff raised all the blinds so guests could enjoy the spectacular view.

You gotta have the Halibut Fish & Chips! Awesome! Sit by the windows and after, stroll down to the beachfront for some makin'out! The berry tart wasn't so bad either! Great hospitality and charm in this resort grill!

Stopped bye for a drink at the bar on a busy holiday weekend and glad we did. Bartender was very friendly and quick, mixed us some good drinks too. After glancing at the menu decided to stay and eat, bartender stepped up and helped reserve us a window seat. Had a couple steaks, that we're cooked to perfection and very tasty! Mashed potatoes and veggies were spot on too! Had a extremely delicious berry crisp to finish a great dinning experience.

Lovely spot with a great view. We stayed at the Hallmark and came here several times for breakfast. Each was fantastic. Once I had the Greek omelet and once the stuffed croissant. Very nice. Also not too greasy like some places. Just fresh and tasty. Others had the eggs and sausage, sausage was very tasty, and the pancakes and the waffles, all of which got great reviews. Decent portions. Very nice friendly and attentive service. Reasonable prices. Recommended.

Blah food, terrible service. We took our family that was visiting us to Georgie's as a celebratory-end-of-trip dinner. The food was EXTREMELY overpriced and not very good. The fish tacos were ok my father-in-law said. I had the halibut and that was very bland. The waitress hurried us the entire time and we were trying to have a relaxing meal. She stared at us from a corner and came and asked us "Are you ready to order?" over and over again while we were enjoying our drinks and chatting. She asked us "Are you ready for the check" multiple times when we were making it clear that we were obviously not finished (since my husband was still eating and CHEWING!) and all of us were still drinking our wine. My father-in-law made a joke about it as he said he wasn't going to touch the bill and make her ask a few more times. Ugh....she should have taken the hint! We were in and out of there in 1 hour because she rushed us so much and she literally made our evening unenjoyable. $150 (for 4 people) later, we didn't feel good about the meal. We will never go there again even for a good view. There are better views elsewhere such as Shilo Inn and Table of Contents.

My husband and I are driving up the California and Oregon coast for our 41st wedding anniversary. Since we were not familiar with the local flair we asked the hotel staff for a good restaurant. Georgio's was suggested as their favorite. It is now our favorite seafood restaurant. I had the Parmesan crusted halibut. It was so tender and flavorful! My husband had the stuffed halibut. Again, tender and flavorful. The staff was amazingly attentive. Prices are reasonable. We shared a bottle of wine, ate two fabulous dishes and it cost us $72.00. If you are in the area and pass up this chance for a great meal, shame on you!

Sit in the lounge with Jaimie...order double half n half bloody Mary watch the waves crash and relax...Then, order the chicken fried steak...Texans will feel like home; house made the right way...note: gravy needs work order on side and dunk. I had a breakfast wrap very good, no complaints, but the chicken fried steak...yum...I drooled watching my Texan husband eat and stole every bite I could...

My husband and I dine there once a week for dinner! I would most definitely suggest reservations as there was a line everytime we've been. Great oceanfront view from every window. We quite often go with a group of 10 people and the service is always very good. The Calamri is some of the best I've had. Perfectly cooked so it is very tender and not chewy. The seasoned coating is really good too!

Fantastic halibut tacos. 2 was all I needed to fill me up. Also tasted the fettuccine Alfredo and it was really good also. Short wait to get in even though they were packed. Friendly staff. Doesn't really get much better

This place is extremely consistent which is very refreshing in the small coastal town of Newport. ALWAYS great service, honor their hours (once again rare in Newport) and even when they are busy the food does not take too long. Can't say enough, this is the safe place to go.

    (5)

Their clam chowder was incredible. The way it should be made. Had the Diablo fettuccine....What a great take on seafood fettuccine. A must visit place when in Newport. The view over the ocean was amazing.

We ate at Georgie's on a family road trip and it was divine. The fish and chips were the best I have ever had. The fish was light, flaky and the tartar sauce was incredible. My dad let me try his fish tacos and they were stellar! The fish tasted fresh and the salsa was heavenly. The restaurant also boasts a great view of the beach below!

My hubby wanted some good seafood while on our little Memorial Day weekend get away. Our hotel desk clerk recommended Georgies. Since i'm not able to eat seafood, I needed to find a great salad for me...many seafood places lack in the salad department. Not so here, there are many great choices. I had the spinach salad with a grilled chicken breast and it was very good! They even accommodated my need for some added lettuce greens. The hubby had crab cakes that he raved about, mentioned the sauce has a bit of a spicy bite. He had the Ahi and had nothing but great comments. Be prepared for a wait but so worth it! great views too! So two happy customers! I'd give a five star, but my coffee wasn't the best. I'll try to post photos.

  • David L.

Complete let down! This was a disappointment for three reasons...I was visiting from out of town. This place was recommended... First the wait was long; with little communication from the host staff... in addition they came across as bothered when I wanted to gauge our timing. The server was in no hurry to take our order, don't get me wrong he was pleasant, and just average service at best. He did not explain the meals very well, sort of unexcited, maybe tired and overworked. Finally the food was plain, bland and very similar to what I would get at "Red Lobster"... I was so thoroughly disappointed, as was my guest. The clam chowder was good, not spectacular... Just average meals... very long wait for the caliber of the meal, especially at the price we paid

The food was amazing! All the seafood was fresh and delicious. I got the Diablo seafood pasta and it was just the right dish size. We split the oreo cheesecake for dessert and also loved the dessert. Very satisfied with our dinner.

Aside from it being my hotel restaurant, this place had the best view of any restaurant we went to. We were starving when we arrived and checked in, and headed over to the restaurant. In all honesty, it was probably one of the best meals we had while in Newport. We both had veggie burgers and sweet potato fries. The service was a bit slow for the mid afternoon, but all of the window seats were full. We didn't visit again because the one downside is they closed quite early (but that's the case with most everything in town!).

Newport is my new favorite weekend getaway and we've been exploring different restaurants in the area so we can find one we really like when we come visit from Portland. We got seated right away at a window seat in the lounge with an amazing ocean view. The server was very friendly. He brought us our beer and a basket of bread very quickly. I hadn't looked at the menu before we got to Georgie's so I didn't realize it was so expensive until I opened the menu. And it didn't seem like a fancy place (we were in flip flops) so I figured the food must be really good! We ordered The Fisherman's Stew and Diablo Seafood Pasta to share. The food arrived quite quickly. Which usually either means they cooked the food too quickly and with not enough care or they really know what they are doing. I started with The Fisherman's Stew. It was OK. The broth was like watered down tomato soup with no flavor. The seafood was good, the best part, really. But then there were also these huge pieces of vegetables that seemed to be just kind of thrown in the stew. It came with Parmesan garlic bread which was good enough but for the price tag on this meal...definitely not worth it. Then the plate switch. The Diablo seafood pasta was really sweet and creamy. Too sweet and creamy. The flavor was just strange for a pasta seafood dish. Edible but, again, for the amount we paid for that dish I expect it to be delicious. I will most likely come back here for drinks and appetizers and the AMAZING ocean view and save my money and eat dinner somewhere else.

  • Jessica H.

The diablo pasta was good; however, I was expecting more spice with a name like Diablo -- it also had a sweet quality to it that I wasn't expecting. On the other hand the Irish cream creme brûlée was superb.

This place is AMAZING!!! Great service, awesome food and quiet atmosphere. We had the worst time finding a good restaurant in the area that served good food and had a nice feeling. We wanted to have a sit down dinner and found it here. For the summer, they are open until 10 p.m. which is great because everyone else is closed at 9 p.m. The clam chowder is the best in town! Try this place out!

  • Leilani C.

Unimpressed. I'm a bit of a fish and chips enthusiast so I tend to order it anytime we're at the coast. That being said - EVERY time I order it, I always ask for it "well-done" or "extra crispy". Nine times out of ten, the restaurants that boast their scrumptious "golden brown" fish and chips present pale yellow and undercooked fish and really, there's nothing more disgusting. I ordered a side salad that came with house-made ranch that contained mostly mayonnaise. Bleh. The server spilt iced tea on our table twice and didn't bother to clean it. She made friendly conversation with no eye-contact, while still having conversations with her co-workers and poking fun at the people who left the table across from us. Out came our entrees and set in front of me were two pieces of soggy pale yellow halibut filets. Pretty sure my eyes turned a flaming red as I tried to calmy tell our less than mediocre server that I'd like to send it back since it came out exactly the opposite of what I ordered. Of course by the time they brought out the same fish I sent back, refried to a golden burnt - the rest of the family had finished their meals and I took most of it to go. The fish was bland and the tartar sauce again contained too much mayonnaise. The view was beautiful but Georgie's seriously lacks in the vital components of a restaurant - food and service.

I come here for the salad - mainly the Southwest Chicken Salad. This has to be one of the best I've had (and I eat a lot of greens). The lettuce has always been fresh and crisp and the toppings are yum (sliced green and red peppers, black beans, corn, SW grilled chicken (duh), and a pile of fried tortilla strips). OK - the fried part may drop this salad off the healthy side but it's still good. It's served with a chipotle dressing that is da bomb (I get mine on the side). The ocean view is quite nice from just about anywhere in the restaurant. I didn't get the old folks home vibe like another reviewer did but it does feels like a hotel restaurant. One thing that stood out in my mind is that their chairs are extra-wide which kinda made me feel like a little kid in an adult chair. Hey, it makes my butt look smaller so it's not all bad. The service was friendly and efficient. Georgie's has officially become my go-to restaurant when in Newport.

Visited for first time last weekend. My conclusion is that it might be near the top of the list for the Newport dinner selections. Food tasted nice and prices are fair for seafood at the coast. Servers performed well on 2 visits. The warm bread is a very nice touch too because who doesn't love chowder and bread! Would visit again next time there.

My husband and I were excited to try a new coastal restaurant that we had never been to, and Georgie's Beachside Grill caught our attention. What a clean, crisp atmosphere......so relaxing and inviting. The friendly staff seated us near the window, and we loved the gorgeous ocean view! Not only was our waitress kind and funny, but the food was amazing! For an appetizer, my husband had the kobe beef sliders and I tried a bowl of clam chowder. The sliders were quite tasty and I had always thought the best chowder was at Mo's. After chowder at Georgie's, we will never order chowder at Mo's again....and that goes for any other place on the Oregon Coast, as well! Creamy, and so many levels of flavor! Packed with clams, the difference between Georgie's chowder and chowder at other places we've tried is like night and day. Georgie's doesn't over-potato their chowder as a filler like other places, and as long as I stick with Georgie's, I will never be cheated out of clams again! Georgie's has THE best chowder at the coast. But nothing could prepare us for their Diablo Seafood Pasta. My husband and I both ordered it. A perfect combination of sweet, spicy and creamy, we were in love with the sauce and spoke little the rest of the meal, as neither of us wanted words to get in the way of diving in for another bite! Not too spicy, either. Don't be deterred.....it's a must try! After our lunch, the waitress offered us a dessert menu, but we were craving something a little lighter. We were interested in a watermelon daiquiri, but when we found out they were out of watermelon, the waitress offered to create something new just for us! Honeydew daiquiri? Yes, please! We felt a little special since it wasn't even on the menu. What a clean, fresh and perfect way to end our lunch. We will be back again and again!

Amazing clam chowder! Fresh bread, and my boyfriend's and I got the stuffed salmon and garlic mashed potatoes, delicious. Server was friendly and observant and our view of the coast was lovely. Highly recommend.

The service here is fantastic, the view out on the Pacific is great (as long as its not overcast/foggy), and the food is amazing! Especially the Diablo Seafood Pasta, it is spicy three-cheese fettuccine with crabmeat, shrimp, & salmon. Best dish of food they serve. In fact I came all the way from Kansas to visit friends and family back home and visiting Georgie's for their Diablo Pasta was on top of my todo list. Also, their clam chowder is better than Moe's clam chowder for two reasons. First, there are tons of clams in the soup and it isn't as if a clam accidentally swam its way into the soup. Second, the soup is much thicker and creamier that the watered down soup of Moe's (that's mostly made of potatoes rather than clams).

A friend suggest we go to Georgie's and we were not disappointed. There was a short wait (Sunday of Labor Day weekend), but it was well worth it. We were seated by the window with a great view of the ocehad the "Blackberry BBQ sauce on a 6 oz salmon filet. This was the BEST. It was served over a fresh melon and romaine salad (see photo). My wife had crab cakes and let me taste one - they were excellent - lots of crab and very little filler. For dessert, we had their Marionberry crisp. It comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. All in all one of the best meals we have had on this grip.

My fiancé and I decided to have lunch at Georgie's while visiting Newport last weekend based on the fantastic reviews. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same experience as many others did. The restaurant is nice, clean, and the view is beautiful! I am a vegetarian and ordered the veggie penne with pesto sauce, and my fiancé ordered the fish and chips. My pasta tasted old and was luke warm, the vegetables were undercooked, and the "sauce" was just a bowl full of pesto flavored olive oil. Our waitress was FANTASTIC and when I voiced my concerns about the pasta being too oily she immediately took the plate and offered to bring me something else. I grill portobello mushrooms at home often and decided to try their grilled portobello mushroom burger with potato salad. The portobello mushroom was undercooked (you can tell by cutting the mushroom in half and the middle should be a a little lighter than the outside of the mushroom. This mushroom was still white on the inside) so it was a little rubbery and just wasn't flavored well. On top of it all I found a hair in my potato salad and just decided to give up from there. I wanted to have a nice lunch with a beautiful beach view on our first day at the beach, but I only got the beautiful beach view. My fiancé didn't have any complaints about his fish and chips though, and the waitress was a very sweet woman and made the experience tip worthy. If you're looking for a delicious lunch with some great drinks - try Rouge just over the bridge instead.

Wonderful large ocean view windows. Fantastic staff. Attentive even when they're busy. Filling entrees and delicious Marionberry dessert dish! Go at dinner time for a gorgeous view of the sunset!!

DIVINE! This place was wonderful! The atmosphere was fun yet relaxing! The view is stupendous! We got sat in the corner and we were a little skeptical of the view but it I actually very beautiful! Watching the waves crash and a pretty view of the lighthouse! When you are deciding what to order, do yourself a HUGE favor and get the Cajun chicken shrimp! The chicken was cooked to perfection and had a nice spicy seasoning on the chicken! The glaze that was on top of it with the shrimp tied it all together! A nice sweet sauce to balance the spiciness. I promise you, you will not regret ordering this entree! Very reasonable prices and very nice staff. We plan on coming back here just for the chicken! And the view and service of course!

We walked into this restaurant with high hopes on Day Three of our roadtrip and despite a cold reception by the host, our waitress and food made up for it. She was very friendly and warm as she put up with our fussiness and made us feel at home. The view at our table was spectacular and reason alone to visit this place. Once the food came it sealed the deal of what I thought of the restaurant. I had the blackened chicken fettuccine and the chicken was cooked perfectly. It was tender, seasoned, and "fresh." The sauce was divine and creamier than any I've had. If you're in Newport, come here!

Our Favorite Special Occasion Restaurant. Georgie's is a family favorite and one of Newport's pricier restaurants. We go a few times a year to celebrate special occasions and entertain out of town guests. You can tell that management cares. Always clean and nicely decorated, the restaurant is warm and inviting. You have to schedule dinner around sunset to really appreciate Georgie's. The ocean view is spectacular. The food has never disappointed me, but I've only had seafood dishes for entrees. Sometimes I crave the clam chowder. In a city full of places selling clam chowder, Georgie's version stands above the rest. My go to entree is the Fisherman's Stew with lots of clams, salmon, white fish, scallops, crab and shrimp.

Stayed next door at the Hallmark - loved the proximity to hotel! Was great to be able to enjoy wine with our gorgeous ocean view then just walk to Georgie's. Staff was super friendly and views were superb, you don't really need a window seat as all the views are great. Chowder was good - but sadly that's the only thing we might recommend and we tried eating here 3 times. The food was just ok, mostly. Fish and chips were very disappointing. The whole restaurant, from the decor to the menu, seemed buffet boring - uninspired. Not what we expect from coastal dining.

Perfect meal! Drinks never ran out and server was great! The fish and chips was very good as was fishermans stew. Amazing location on the beach. Big windows to watch a pacific sunset!

Outstanding! The serving was excellent the view was great (overlooking the Ocean just before Sunset. We stayed at Hallmark Inn on the grounds and although they don't take reservations they simply call back to your room when they have your table ready. The food was excellent. I had the tenderloin bites which I will make a point of coming back for! My wife had the Chicken Parmesan which was delicious and a very generous portion. Both the meal and drinks were very reasonable. We will come back soon!

Georgie's was recommended by our hotel desk and was it ever delightful! Our server, Chelsea, had just the right touch, making sure all was fine without hovering. But the food! I don't know how they could encrust a piece of halibut with crab and Parmesan and cook it perfectly, but they did! Yeah, yeah, the view was great . . . But with that meal and a lovely martini, who was looking? A rare perfect meal. Elizabeth and Ron, 19 March 2014

I dined here for lunch with some co-workers. I ordered the Blackberry Salmon Salad. It was cooked well and the salad was fresh. The view was beautiful however the ambiance lacked and I felt like I was eating in an oldfolks home dining room. Our server was nice, but not very professional and we felt very rushed as though they were trying to flip tables quickly.

When we first walked in, we weren't sure what to think since we weren't really greeted...but they were pretty busy (30min wait). But after being seated our waitress was awesome! The food there we did find it a bit on the expensive side, but worth every cent otherwise! I ordered the Diablo Seafood Pasta, my wife ordered the Grilled Chicken Fettuccine, and we split some Crab Cakes. No regrets whatsoever on what we ordered. When we left the wait time was 1:30-2hours of a wait time to be seated! Very busy place, and clean with fresh food!

Great food and very fast! We had the Cajun chicken with shrimp and the halibut tacos. Very delicious and great oceanfront location too! We came here after being faced with a 1 hour + wait at the Rogue Brewery and were pleasantly surprised to have our food arrive even before our drinks were empty! Decor is a little outdated and it has a kind of diner feel to it, if the ambiance was improved a bit I'd give it 5 stars!

Fantastic wall of windows to enjoy the view. Very cheerful and attentive staff. My hamburger was great! If you enjoy a char burger this is it. The add on bacon was thick and crunchy. Completely enjoyed my burger and they home style fries that came with it. This is not a skimpy sandwich! Great price $11 Others enjoyed the pan fried oysters, lightly breaded and fresh. Generously portion of Halibut fish & chips $22 The only fault was with the crab cakes, $20 as a meal. Not much flavor or taste of crab and covered in some sort of sweet pineapple relish and drizzle of sauce. This was not a hit. This is great basic dining.

Going to Georgies for my very first time last Friday afternoon for lunch, we made the mistake of going into the lounge to eat and be served. Sat there for 25 minutes as the waitress continued to walk past us and paid no attention to us! finally angry enough to just leave, we walked up to the front counter and told them what was going on. the she did this in the restaurant and Truly took care of us! amazing service and the best halibut and clam chowder I have ever had in my life!!!! I'm so glad we gave them a second chance!!! it was so good we went back the next night for dinner and again it was amazing!!! so 5 stars as long as you avoid the lounge and the lady who works in there in the afternoons. because that was pathetic!! go to the restaurant and you will have a five-star meal!!!

Worst customer service we've ever experienced. We ordered salads. They never arrived. My daughter's meal came with a side, she substituted a salad, it never arrived. Our drinks were never refilled, the bread was never refilled, and we watched server after server pass by our table, without a single one ever asking if we needed anything. I called to complain when we returned home (we were visiting from out of town) and spoke to a male assistant manager. He apologized profusely and promised he'd send a gift card to my daughter who lived in town. It's been three weeks and she never received it. I wasn't going to leave a review if we got the gift card, but apparently they don't really care very much about whether or not their customers are satisfied. Definitely will eat elsewhere next time we're in town.

The manfriend and I decided to come here for my birthday dinner. I thought it looked cute from outside and read some nice reviews. Being from out of town I was hoping for the best. This was my birthday weekend away and probably one of the few trips we'll take before the baby comes! Parking was great! And the wait for the table at 6pm on a Saturday night was 30min...and became only 20min. PERFECT! We were seated and looked at the menus. I asked the waitress what she recommended between the garlic bread and cheese sticks....she had no opinion. So we went with the garlic bread....soon we noticed every table had a bread basket! Hmm...after we finished our bread we sat waiting for a bread basket...had we known we wouldn't have gotten more bread! We eventually asked for one when we ordered our meal. I asked her opinion between two shrimp dishes...once again she had NO OPINION. How lame! How can you be a waitress at a nice restaurant and be so boring?! My clam chowder was good. It wasn't amazing because of lack of flavor but was good enough. My shrimp scampi was GREAT! Steamed Veggies...and Shrimp with capers and in olive oil with lemon. The garlic mashed potatoes lacked a bit of flavor. And to top off my meal....I found a hair on the tomato I stole from my mans' sandwich. Ugh. Now to top off the two star.....there was this annoying child who who kept leaning over the seating area...started slapping his spit around and playing in it and being ANNOYING! She even saw him and heard me say I want to vomit. Eventually I asked Sharon (Our waitress) to please find the boys parents...as I was talking to her and explaining ..SHE WALKED AWAY. WALKED AWAY!!!!! I am voicing a complaint and you walk away when I am speaking. Overall the waitress and that brat ruined my birthday dinner! She was nice to all the other tables...she was sincere and offered her opinion. Us? Nothing. We decided to go for birthday ice cream and not leave a tip. Now I know you should always leave a tip blah blah but my theory is a TIP is earned. Some countries don't even tip....in America we do it because we are told to! I work hard for my money....I would hope everyone does and I am not going to spend it on someone with no service skills!

We are in Newport for Labor Day weekend. We wanted to out for a great dinner. We chose Georgie's Beachside Grill. I ordered the ribeye steak. It was grilled to perfection. The outside was charred and inside cooked medium rare. Delicious The baked potato that it was served with was again perfectly cooked and served with plenty of butter, sour cream, bacon, cheese and chives. My plate was clean by the end of the meal. I definitely would go back. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed

We came two nights in a row for dinner. Really good restaurant not to mention the beautiful view you get if you sit by or near the window. First night, calamari, top sirloin and parmsean chicken penne were ordered and all of these were delicious. Raspberry lemonade is the best I've ever had not too sweet or sour. Warm bread Is given to you when you sit down which is also good! Second night chowder was appetizers, parmsean chicken penne was ordered again and then Diablo seafood Pasta was ordered. Chowder was delicious and the chicken was again good that night. That pasta however is really weird. Sounds like something spicy but instead is really sweet and not right to sauce up pasta. However service is great and that was the only odd thing about this place. Would go again!

Best fish tacos! Great bar seating with views of the ocean! Our bartender was a new guy and he was very personable and took care of you. We stayed at the hallmark next door and dined at georgios a few times including room service! Great fish tacos and clam chowder! Definitely recommended! I don't normally dine at restaurant hotels but this one is exceptional and was close to our resort!

Sat in the bar for happy hour. Georgie's has a great happy hour! We over ordered and walked out like stuffed mushrooms. Started with two cups of clam chowder. I've raved about the clam chowder in a previous review. A frothy creamy whip filled with chewy bits of clam and veggies. Yum. It was so satisfying, I could have stopped there. Then shared sweet potato fries which were underwhelming. Thick, soft and not seasoned. A spinach salad, a good deal on the HH menu but it was drowning in balsamic dressing and overcompensated with pecans and bacon and cheese. If you need your veggies to be obliterated to eat them, this salad is for you! Finally, the off-the-menu favorite, crab quesadilla. Oh how I love this. It's cheesy and crabby and comes with a fantastically spicy avocado sauce. The best part was that we came on a Tuesday and in the off-season, Tuesdays are half-off bottle of wine day! So we got a great bottle of Zin for $11. Drink what you can, take the rest home.

My first 100% Oregonian grass fed, grass finished all beef burger -- with zero growth hormones and no-antibiotics. Expensive. Great smell. Okay taste, a little dry. Underwhelmed. My wife was happier with her Cob Salad with chicken.

Try the bar area if you want to get seated quicker. They also raise the blinds for sunset time, so it's a great ocean front view. We had the stuffed chicken (really good) and the prime rib (still good, but chicken was better). The warm bread at the table was delicious as well. The drinks were on point; try the Italian margarita. Everyone was super nice and quick. Will be back if ever in this area again!

Great view, great chowder, great service. They have a treasure chest and let the kids pick out a prize at the end. The friendly people at the booth next to us raved about the beef stew. It did look good. My salmon salad was delicious. I ordered a cocktail with ginger beer, lime and bourbon, and I liked it so much we've been trying to recreate it for days. Georgie's is a fantastic, relaxing place for a great lunch.

Really enjoyed dinner here last night. Had the steamed clams as my entree, which was just enough food for me. The Parmesan sourdough bread that came with was great dipped in the clam juice. My mom had the diablo pasta, which was very sweet but had a good amount of spice. My dad had the fried oysters. They were plump and pretty flavorful. The marionberry crisp though...favorite food I've had yet in oregon. We kind of bought it because we are from the DC area and thought marionberry was a hilarious name (same name as a former DC mayor) for a crisp. So delicious! And that Tillamook ice cream!!!

Never good, when 90 minutes later the food goes right through your system. Today's lunch special, Albacore Tuna, stormed out of my system within 90 minutes of the meal. Something was very wrong with the meal - could be the Tuna, the potato salad or the cole slaw. Y I K E S!

Late take out dinner tonight. Enjoyed a frock at the bar while waiting. Bartender does a great job and the staff as a whole seemed attentive and pleasant. Clam chowder was great. Best? Hard to say but if it isn't it's close. Halibut n chips. They tossed in an extra piece as they felt the other prices were smaller...good job! Unfortunately it was difficult to taste the wonderful fish with the thick batter it was fried in. This dish could have been awesome as the batter had a great flavor, just too much this the fish was lost. Reasonably priced and a great assortment. Well worth stopping in. If for nothing else then to get a drink and cup of chowder.

WORSE THAN A DINER You get a VIEW - everything else is secondary. Slow inattentive service, shabby worn décor, restaurant quite dirty toward end of evening. Burgers were ordered MEDIUM and came out RAW - fries were institutional tasting Sourdough bread was a 3 star Come for DRINKS - at least they cant screw that up

  • Audra B.

This place was good. Nothing exciting. If you are looking for an expensive, fancier atmosphere I think that this is what the restaurant is going for, although there were a lot of families with kids. The food was good. They started with hot, fresh bread and butter, which is always a nice bonus. For dinner I had a vegetarian pasta dish in a cheese sauce. The sauce was amazing! My husband had the Savory Seafood Sampler. He described it as a pile of various sea food in butter. Which is generally a good thing, but it was a bit bland. The portions are a decent size. The staff were friendly and fast. The booths are very big. The windows all face the ocean, which would probably be a better bonus when the sun is out. We went at about 6:30pm on a Saturday night and there were far more large family groups with children than expected... lots of children. All in all, not bad.

  • Ado M.

Wow. How delish! The Diablo seafood fettuccine was so good. Starts off kind of sweet & creamy then ends with a little spice. There was tons of seafood in it, not just full of pasta. Like nothing I've had before. Our waitress always had a smile & checked on us several times. Water filled our water frequently. The manager even checked on us after our meal came out. Oh & did I mention the beach front view? We will be back!

Georgies has it all..great view, servers and food. Seafood pasta is a nice mix of various fish in a creamy , light tomato sauce. Halibut is a local fav here and it was perfectly cooked too. Hot bread and a huge portion of calamari left no room for dessert. See you again!

I have been to this restaurant 3 times now and it never disappoints. The first time we came was when we were staying in the hotel next to it and we at first tried to get a table but they were too busy. So then we ended up ordering room service which is catered by them and it was delicious as well. We soon learned the trick to getting a table is to call ahead about an hour before you want to eat and add your name to the waiting list otherwise expect about a 45 minute wait if you just show up. Another little trick is to ask to be seated in the lounge. It's the same menu and quieter. Now anytime we go to the coast we make the point to drive here at least once for a visit. Everything we've ever ordered has been delicious and the pricing is fair. The clam chowder is hands down the best chowder I've had to date and what I base all clam chowders I try now.

Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? Beautiful location overlooking the water with many large windows, however the staff was not the most attentive. Half star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Decent portions for the price. One star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Really disappointing. The clam chowder and bread are great, however chili, fish & chips, vegetarian diablo pasta, and fish tacos were really underwhelming. Half star. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Pass. No stars.

My boyfriend and I were staying in Newport for the weekend using a gift certificate from my place of work. They also provided a gift certificate to this place as it was nearby. My boyfriend was not very hungry, so he just ordered a margarita and a side of french fries. I ordered an appetizer and the clam chowder. (I pretty much always order clam chowder when I go to the coast). As soon as he ordered the fries, our waitress pretty much ignored us the rest of the time we were there. She forgot that I ordered the soup, never came up to us to ask us how the food was tasting and rushed us to finish and leave. I regret giving her a 20% tip. The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is we came back for breakfast, and our breakfast waitress was really nice. (We only came back because I still had money on the gift card my work gave me). But two of the people who came in and ordered after us received their food first, so three stars is not deserved.

We visited Newport Labor Day weekend and ended up coming here two nights in a row. Just call ahead and ask about wait and get onto the waitlist to keep from waiting too long. The first night we got a window seat which was great as we were able to watch the sunset. I had the Diablo fettuccine and it was delicious. The next night I had the clam chowder in a bread bowl and it was just as good. Was very thrilled with this place and when I come back to Newport it'll be where I eat.

We will definitely be back. The menu is reasonably priced and the food was good. We especially enjoyed the extra creamy clam chowder with huge chunks of tender clams. We would also be hard pressed to find a better view of the ocean. We ate good food and were able to watch whales in the distance. Our server was also great. You could tell she was a pro.

We love seafood and seek it out when we are on the ocean. This was the best we have had in years. The crab cakes were perfection with lots of crab. My sauteed variety of seafood was done perfectly with fresh clams, salmon, scallops, bay shrimp, prawns, halibut, & probably some other seafood. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a real seafood dinner and not just fried fish and chips.

  • Peg P.

I've been to Georgie's twice now and each time has been very enjoyable. Our seating by the windows with a stunning view of the ocean is magnificent. My partner has had the fish (cod) and chips twice now and says the fish is always perfectly done. It arrived with a pretty basic presentation. Another friend had fish tacos and loved them. And another friend had the oyster dish and said they were done to perfection. I ordered a good ol' albacore tuna sandwich and clam chowder. The chowder was good and the tuna was OK. All in all a most enjoyable Newport dining experience.

This place is a treasure of food. I haven't had a bad meal is 6 visits. Gotta say the Diablo Seafood Pasta is the best I have ever ever ever had. I do wish the garlic bread was not the end piece always. Most of the servers are very kind one tried to judge us since we didn't match the suits and dresses so he was rude to us and never checked in and even forgot to give us our soup so at the end asked to remove it from bill. But this place is a must stop by if going thru town.

  • Laura N.

We had dinner our service was truly excellent we sat near the windows and the of the ocean was breathtaking. We had the tenderloin appetizer in Diablo sauce. This was cooked so perfectly and tender it melted in your mouth. For dinner we had the Cobb salad and salmon grilled with olive oil and dill. Everything tasted Devine it is well worth the price.

We had breakfast and dinner just recently at Georgie's. Its a great place, wonderful, attentive staff. The food is delicious, and the portions are the perfect size. The chicken fried steak for breakfast is huge, but so good! The eggs benny, croissant breakfast sandwich, and the croissant french toast were all very tasty. Dinner was busy, but they got us in pretty fast, the staff is great. All the food was wonderful, but I think I preferred our breakfasts. The side veggies were blah...they couldve been sauted in butter or something, but the bread is fresh and delicious. The lobster and steak tips was so good, the sauce on it was drool worthy. All was great, we will be coming back again for sure!
