Went to see the band and was hopeful when I saw the menu. Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed. Both our appetizer and my meal were delivered to another table. I ordered a coffee drink and received a shot. When I asked for a cup of coffee, it came out cold. When my meal finally did arrive, after several requests, all nine of my table mates had finished eating and my burger was over cooked. The star is for the live music. Oh, they say they are a family restaurant; yet, there is no changing table in the restroom.

Really good local place. We were out-of-towners in Newport for one night and wanted dinner with live music. We took a chance on Cecil's with their Sunday night jam session. We had the Cuban sandwiches - delicious! The blues jam from 4-7 was lots of fun, good music, and a very friendly environment. Don't be fooled by the exterior, this is a warm and welcoming place!

Driving through Newport we decided to stop at Cecils for a beer. From the outside we had anticipated a dark-seedy bar, but the inside was full of bright colors and music. I felt as if I had walked into Narnia, as I did not expect it to be such a colorful and lively place. We enjoyed the food, drinks, and music so much we stayed all night! Cecils has become a staple for our Newport trips.

My husband, Skip and I are regular customers at Cecils. We love the food created by Chef, Ibin Polk - have not had a bad meal there. Our favorite is the Chocolate Bacon Cheese Burger - it is delicious. The atmosphere is very friendly and you feel right at home. The service is excellent too and you never have to ask twice for anything. We especially enjoy their Sunday Pentacoastal Blues Jam - live music every Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m - wonderful music supported by local artists. We highly recommend Cecil's, you won't be dissapointed!!!

Worst Fried Chicken and mashed potatoes ever. Seriously, creamed corn out of the can and the garlic mashed was a bitter awful. The crust on the chicken was like the crust of the earth, all rocky and flavorless, I would have been happier with Thriftway fried chicken, because I've had it and enjoyed it. If you're going to talk a big game at least try to back it up.

i've been curious about Cecil's for weeks. I finally went in to try it, and all I can say is- a lot of wasted potential. The music was good, the cuban sandwich was nothing but disappointing. For some reason, the only flavor I could taste was oregano. About a mile down the road, my mouth started to taste some garlic along with the still screaming oregano breath I was stuck with. My friend got the same sandwich and had the same impression, except he got a hint of garlic. The rest of the sandwich was bland except for the copious quantity of mustard on it. The mushy pulled pork was having to backstroke through the mustard. The beer selection is paltry, and our waiter didn't know anything about the beers except that they were local. Overall, a forgettable experience.

Worst fried chicken and the gumbo you could stand a spoon in. Yuk!

The food was very dissapointing! I had the fish and chips thinking that since i'm on the Oregon Coast it would be fresh fish. My bad for not asking first. It was obviously frozen fish and lacked any real flavor. My husband got the Cuban sandwich which was also just lacking some how. I did like the atmosphere though and the server was very friendly. While the food was not good, I do think we would return to just have a couple drinks.

My wife and I stopped in a year ago to try something new. I wanted to support the smaller local businesses and gave Cecil's a shot. It was not a good experience. Although advertised as a family restaurant, I would never bring my children here. There is a bar top that had a couple people completely hammered at 1pm that they were still serving. We were given a menu and were told that half of the items weren't available. Something about needing a new hood in the kitchen for the past 2 months and they still didn't have one so our options were limited. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw. While we waited, we could clearly see the drunk patrons at the bar yelling loudly, mostly to the people in the back where the video poker/gambling machine must be set up. They yelled back and forth for most of the 15-20 minutes we waited for our food -- despite being the only customer ordering food in the place (we were the only customers in the restaurant that were not at the bar drinking). We also got a good look at the place while waiting. TVs were off. Floor needs to be replaced and was kind of gross. There is a stage where they obviously have a band some nights but it is out of place and takes up a good portion of the restaurant. And there was a dog running around sniffing us as we walked in and hung around as we ate! When the food came the pulled pork sandwich was incredibly bland. No sauce or anything for it to give it any flavor. The coleslaw was practically sour. We tried to enjoy our meal while the bartender continued to serve the drunks at the bar. They must have been regulars because the bartenders were talking with them the entire time. And Cecil's think I should bring my kids here? We did leave a generous tip despite the slow food preparation, the confusing menu that didn't offer half of what was on it, the loud patrons at the bar that the bartender didn't tell to quiet down and kept serving, and the awful décor and overall condition of the restaurant. The waitress was pleasant and that was the only bright spot in this dismal establishment. I hope she was able to find another place to work because Cecil's is a dive.

This place has an amazing food menu. I have been here a bunch of times now. Easy to go by and miss. The BLT, and the pulled pork are awesome but the Cubano is legit. Also they have "specials" that change daily. Tonight I had the gator quesadilla that was so amazing. About a week ago it was a Jamaican jerk pork wrap. So good. Also the staff is soo friendly. Yes it's a total dive bar but a nice one. Everyone is super down to earth and the bartenders remember everyone. This is a goto hang out in newport.

We randomly stopped at Cecil's for an adult beverage and we fell in love! The personal attention was amazing...they fulfilled every one of my high maintenance girlfriends' requests! The drinks were good and we really enjoyed the fish and chips, actually! I preferred them to Mo's fish and chips. Not only that, a friend requested chowder (not on the menu) and they quickly whipped up a batch....and it was GOOD! She said she preferred their chowder to Mo's chowder as well. We will stop here every year going forward. Such great service! Thank you for showing how much you all care!
