Had the Spaetzle and it was delish! Traditional German soup made with dumpling "spaetzle noodles" made from scratch, veggies, broth and smoked sausage. All delivered with a fresh baked bread roll w/butter & an authentic German hefeweisen!
Their sausage is amazing - it will spoil you for all other sausage. We make a special trip every other month for their sausage to cook at home ($16 - perfect for 4 hungry people ... we make Bangers & Mash with ours). They have a full restaurant, as well - we want to eat there! Great service. Love this place!!
Sausages. On fries. On buns. On plates. We were in sausage heaven. Also, the sauerkraut they serve is delicious- not too tart. Apple strudel was wonderful. What's not to like about being able to buy their sausage and strudel to take home?

Glockenspeil Restaurant and Pub fits very nicely into Germanic Mt Angel. With it's bright interior, cuckoo clock, and German music on the loudspeakers, The Glockenspiel will definitely get you into the mood for some bratwurst and sauerkraut. The servers here are warm, friendly, and very helpful. When the servers aren't' serving they are cleaning the restaurant. Glockenspiel Restaurant and Pub is so clean it sparkles! The food. Glockenspeil does some things very well. The dill soup, the spaztle, and the German chocolate cake are excellent. The spaztle are fried along with the wiernerschnitzel which gives them a great texture and flavor. The wienerschnitzel was on the salty side. The Reuben sandwich came with delicious sauerkraut but the sauce was totally lame. Guess I've been spoiled by Goose Hollow's Reuben. The fondue had a nice wine flavor but it was accompanied by small, tasteless pieces of bread. The prices. They're high! For a small town restaurant Glockenspiel restaurant's prices are definitely on the high side. I'm convinced that Portland restaurants like Gustav's, Rheinlander, and Berlin Inn can give you better quality German food for less. Have heard that Glockenspeil Restaurant and Pub is a tourist trap. Well, no more so than the rest of the town. Though I wouldn't drive to Mt Angel for German food I would definitely enjoy being German for the day at Glockenspeil Restaurant and Pub.
I love this place. Great food, great service and the waitresses are very nice. I had the Weiner Schnitzel and spatzel, very good. My grandson, 10, also had that for the first time and loved it. He is pretty picky too. The atmosphere is great, bright and clean. We come here quite often but not near enough.
I'm not sure why this restaurant receives so many high praises, all I can do is rate my own experience there. I went there on a Sunday afternoon with my daughter, the dining area was about 1/4 occupied and we were seated promptly. After about a 15-20 minute wait, a bus girl came to take our drink order, we received our drinks and my daughter found a hair stuck to the glass of her drink. Gross... It appears that this place is extremely under staffed, and while the poor waitress (I think there was only one) was running around, the bus girls were trying to help as much as possible. Another 10-15 min goes by and the waitress comes to take our food order. The food comes out about 20-25 minutes later, and as a vegan (sometimes vegetarian) I specifically asked for 'no meat' in the only vegetable dish on the menu which has a meat option for extra $, it came out with chicken in it. I took a bite into it without checking first - so, my bad. After I get the waitresses attention about the meat in the dish, she offers to have another one prepared and I asked her to have it put it in a to-go container because we really have already spent enough time there as it was. My daughter ordered the pork schnitzel, and she might be a bit biased having eaten this dish in Germany and Austria many times, she claimed it was less than impressive. She said it tasted very 'processed'. My to-go box was brought out to me quite quickly (surprisingly) and the waitress comp'd my coffee for the inconvenience. I was about 4-5 bites into it in the car, and there it is - another hair!!!

Based on the blackberry shake and two kids cones with chocolate/vanilla swirled soft serve, I'm going to rate this place as mediocre. The soft serve was pretty generic, something that's served at all family buffet restaurants kind of thing. The blackberry shake didn't have enough berry taste packed into it. For a quick sweet treat, I might go again, but I wouldn't crave it at any time and I'd survive if I never went again. Update: I tried their rootbeer float and again, just mediocre. Fries were VERY greasy.
The very first time I went here a few months ago I was very pleased. However since I moved to town I have gone here 2 more times and have been disappointed not times. I did not receive the correct order either time, it's spendy for what you get and the wait is long. Tonight I ordered a blueberry milkshake and only received a cup with vanilla icecream. The chicken strip basket was awful. The strips were concrete hard and it came with 2 starches, one of which was soggy buttered bread. The last time we ordered the mushrooms and they were very oily and we didn't get the correct burgers. Soooooooo disappointed. :(

full bar with lots of german beer choices... stand up comedy on occation and Nightlife karaoke every Friday Night The best of Mt Angel
Be warned that if offered the spicy BBQ sauce, its no Stubbs spicy, its like 4 star Thai spicy! It tasted good, but I left crying. In general I like this place. I hope they step it up a little during Oktoberfest though with their food. I can understand having mediocre offerings in a town of 3500 the rest of the year. There is one bartender that is just a straight up you know what. I went in one night during the week, not very busy and so rudely interrupted her chatting with regulars by ordering a drink. She said that will be $6.50 and took my money before even pouring it. Get rid of her and the place would be a just fine small town bar. The rest of the staff is really friendly!
The selection is always great. I have to say though it's easy to tell that the owner doesn't give a crap. They serve old beer and the food is marginal. They really have something here that could be a destination. It they lean to the locals and sell bud light in cans.
