I may have a semi bis view, because i'm a neighbor to this extraordinary business. I came in with my Roomate opening day and was greeted by Tony (aka: the hardest working man I know). His Family run business and is an example to us all. I frequent this establishment with my friends coworkers and often times by myself. **** Hands down the best Pho in town! ***** Looking forward to seeing this business flourish for years to come.

Clean restaurant. Quiet and peaceful too. The soups are fantastic and so are the noodle plates! My favorite, Udon. Great costumer service and great background music.

I have to update the review - bc. While the flagship dish Pho is a good value, there are other dubious menu items that require customer warning - which... I can't give 5 stars overall in good conscience. The Beef Teriyaki was no bueno - they used the same slices of beef that go on the pho, this doesn't grill well and wasn't marinated at all. Unappealing, and not tasteful. The Vermiceli bowl noodles were hot- the waiter couldn't comprehend that noodles should be chilled as this is a salad. Where is the miscommunication? I've been to other Vietnamese shops that by default serve it chilled. the fish sauce dressing is not cold enough to effect the noodles. Again, sloppy and too bad cause the egg rolls were piping hot and so good. Oh Milwaukie, isn't there any place here worthy of 5 stars?

Thank you for the water. It was delicious. And the ice cubes too. And the toothpick. To be fair, I wasn't in a really good mood that day. I was across the street at the used record/CD/discount VHS tape store, and they didn't have a copy of Airplane on LaserDisc. I don't have a LaserDisc player, but it's the principal of the thing. So I wander over to good 'ol Pho Gia and describe a soup to the waiter that would make me feel a little better, like a soup that has some meat, and some soup, and maybe one of those spoons that I'm still not really sure how to use that comes with it. You know the one, with a triangle type handle that could be used as a soup-ramp if you tilt the spoon? So the soup comes. And I get to eating it, and about five or so minutes into the task, I start smelling something. Like a hobo is sitting behind me. So I glance around, quick-like, ready with a "sorry man, all I have is Canadian money", and no hobo awaits. It's the soup. It smells like dirty hair. And I gasp. And I run.

We have now made this our go to for Pho. They made me truly appreciate the dish. Every time I leave this place I just feel better, the spices are romantic. I crave this Pho throughout the week. Come a bit later in the day and the broth will be nice and piping hot. I would like to try another dish off of the menu but cannot seem to break away from the amazing beef Pho. We tried the seafood Pho, but I did not care for it as much as the traditional one. I took my mother for the first time to try Pho and just like me, she became addicted. This is the place to go in the area. I am not a Pho expert, but I know what tastes good. I will keep coming back.

It was OK but I would say just OK! Salad rolls were pretty good but egg rolls were really greasy! Pho came out and had a annoying smell not like any pho I have ever had! I wasn't feeling good and there is nothing like pho when feeling icky but being it was Sunday my favorite was closed so we tried pho gia! Waiter did good til we got our food then never saw him again til we went to register to get our own bill in which we had to tell them again what we ordered! We won't be back!

I feel 2 stars is being merciful.. Me and my friend went before and I forgot to review. However I've been here many times and Im never left feeling like it was a good place. This particular visit they were out of a certain beef kind and when my friend saw it was absent in her Phó, it took awhile for the waiter to understand and he simply stated they had none. She felt as if they could notify the customers before they receive their order. No adjustment was made in price or service, in fact he quoted me for a medium and so i ordered it and they brought and charged me for a large. Lack of communication all over, and the quality was lower and prices higher than many Phó places I've visited in Portland

I was visiting Portland over one weekend early this month. After a long day in town, I was feeling beat so I took the bus back to the Econo Lodge in Milwaukie which I was staying at while in the area. The eating choices within walking distance of the Econo Lodge are limited. A lot of fast food outlets abound in the area. It was late on a Sunday evening so my options were lessening by the hour. I took a walk in the area and unexpected came across a Vietnamese restaurant, Pho Gia. The restaurant is on the stretch of McLoughlin Boulevard, but has a different street address because it sits on a side street adjacent to the main road. After walking past it and not seeing anything better, I headed in as the restaurant was shortly closing at 9 pm. There is a sizable parking lot in front and the dining room is roomy too. Decided to order takeout so the waiter handed me a takeout menu at the bar. The menu was full of your usual Vietnamese offerings. But the prices here are cheap as they are a dollar or two less than most Vietnamese restaurants in the Seattle area I have been to. Feeling overheated from walking around all day in the sun, I decided to order the grilled pork with rice noodles aka bún thit nuong ($6.95). While I waited, the waiter poured me a glass of water to pass the time. A nice gesture I wasn't expecting. My takeout order was ready in less than 10 minutes. Though the restaurant was quite empty by then since it was about to close. The rice noodle salad included some fish sauce to the side which I doused over the dish. The noodles were a little warmer than I was expecting but it was alright. I still enjoyed the noodles. The grilled pork was very flavorful and well marinated. Portion was generous and the price is great. If you are in Milwaukie and looking for Vietnamese food, I would recommend checking out Pho Gia. Prices and the service is good. Pleasantly surprised given the underwhelming eatery options I had to choose from on a late Sunday evening.

Came here on Sunday (5/24) with the family. They showed up at a Pho place and ordered Japanese (yakisoba) and Thai (Pad Thai), and for that heresy I'm going to pretend they weren't even there. I ordered (properly) the #39--- steak and meatballs. Pho is all about the broth, and Pho Gia's is outstanding. I've had Pho at a lot of places, ranging from nasty (greasy, cold, and flavorless) to mediocre (canned broth with spices added) to really great (piping hot, slow-cooked and obviously made from scratch). This place does it right. The fixings were typical, though they added a few sprigs of cilantro to the plate which was nice. The medium soup portion was plenty and they don't skimp on noodles and protein. Very good value. Service was prompt and efficient--- everything you'd expect. They have a clean, modern, nicely decorated dining room and plenty of free parking. We will be back!

Pho Gia is our go to for Pho and Vietnamese food. Comes with lots of Thai basil and of course other greens, bean sprouts, lime and jalapeno. I love the broth! They are more generous with the meat here than another local place and their prices beat them all out at $6.50. Pho is their specialty and although the salad rolls are delicious, avoid the Pad Thai. Seriously. Instead of that sweet/sour flavor you crave the noodles have been mixed with lots of peanut sauce, It was all one big sticky lump on the plate. :-( They replaced the sad dish and brought me out a big bowl of beef pho right away, no charge, happy again! :-) The atmosphere here is very nice with lots of tables, pretty chandeliers and a big bar. Service is really friendly.

Really liked Pho Gia. Great ambiance. Beautiful Chandeliers. Great seating. Not all bunched up and cramped like most places. Waitstaff all dressed in uniforms... My only complaint was our server reaching in front of us passing food to people when he should have walked around. Having said that.... Our server was funny and friendly. Awesome service. The food.. Ta die for. I had the #29 Pho' with Beef and Tendon. The Veggie Plate had the usual encroachments plus cilantro. It was so good. I slurped up every last drop. Glad to find good Pho' close to my new digs.

I am glad I gave this place a second chance. On my first visit, just after the Grand Opening, the water at the table was horrible tasting. The broth in the pho was horrible tasting. (I am willing to relate the two) So I went back with a friend who had been more recently and said his experience was far different. On my revisit, it had indeed changed. The pho is a lot better than it was before. I enjoyed the flavors far more. Service is pretty good. My only complaint revolves around the salad rolls. Waaay too much lettuce. It is the only place that rolls them this way that I have seen in my 14 years of eating Pho around PDX. Give it a shot on a Sunday when the other places are closed.

$6.50 for pho ga. Service was prompt! I might go back but I'll probably try others before going back here. I love Pho Gia on Sandy, not sure if these are related but this seemed not as good. Just my first impression. Cards accepted. Big parking lot. Water was kept topped off. Yeah, it was a-okay.

The weather is cold & dreary again so I was looking to find a good place to satisfy my Pho craving in the Milwaukee area . After reading numerous reviews I chose this restaurant. I'm glad I did. I went there with my 2 rowdy boys and they had plenty of space to seat us far away from others. Waiter was prompt and took my order quickly and brought the food out fast. It was hot and delish. I'm not an expert at pho but I do make a good caldo de res that is the mexican version of Pho and the broth had the same consistency so it was up to par for my taste buds. If i lived close to this place I would go there at least once a week for this Pho because its good and inexpensive...and I wouldn't have to cook! Fyi for those who care bathrooms are very clean.

Pho Gia is amazing!! Whenever I attempted to try Pho at other restaurants, it was a disaster! At Pho Gia, you can always count on fast service, kind waitstaff who always remember you, very fresh vegetables, a very clean eating environment, cheap, kid friendly,...and all of this is just to name a few. If you read my review, please try there at least once, because you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain. Also, try the Gyoza, it is AMAZING!! Enjoy!

Would give more than 5 stars if I could. I never tasted pho like this before and I just love this place. Most pho tastes like someone boiled cheap meat in Marlon Brando's leftover bathwater. Not Pho Gia! First time I went here, I suspected it was going to redefine pho as I knew it. I walked in the door and took in the scene. The place looks the best it can with fancy chandeliers and a wood bar pushed up against the wall (and I now know the waiter names is "Tony") Check! The decor is fancy/hodgepodge lipstick on a pig kinda place. Check. Not a whitey customer like me in sight? Check. Ahhh yessss. I held up two fingers and we were quickly corralled to one of the feeding stations. Shortly thereafter, the server approached and said, "what you want?!?!" I thanked him for cutting to the chase and ordered some brisket pho, spring rolls with shrimp and some potstickers or whatever they call them. He wordlessly swooped up our menus and disappeared into the back. Our order came out in approximately 2.7 seconds. I really have NO IDEA how this is done. It's always crazy fast. I can only assume there's no cooks in the kitchen -- just a menagerie of witch doctors and practitioners of some long forgotten black magic. Words fail me when trying to describe this delicate and nuanced broth. It tastes like a rainbow giving you a slow kiss, if that helps at all. The food is SOOOOO good. Seriously, stop reading this and go here. Now.

I have been looking for a place to eat really good Pho ever since I moved to Portland and this place is #1 in my book! The broth here is amazing! I get #33 (Pho Chin Nam) it is outstanding and for a really good price and the staff is very nice and service has been quick everytime. They don't skimp on noodles and are generous with their protein.

  • Ken W.

This place was alright. Very mediocre. I came here on a cold day and the pho came out not very hot, just pretty warm which was pretty disappointing. They give you a lot of noodles which is great but they were all stuck together as if it was not cooked very long. With the combination options they have for meat, they didn't have any options with a lot or everything in there. Each one had variations of 1-3 different toppings. It was did not taste bad but just very mediocre pho, and with how many pho places there are I wouldn't bring a Vietnamese person here. In fact, looking around the place, I did not see a single Asian person eating here. Maybe that shows for something? On the flip side, for a plus, the prices were pretty cheap. I may be back to try other menu items, but I personally wouldn't get the pho again.

I've been in 3 times this week. Delicious pho! Today I ordered and my soup was in front of me less than a minute later! We tried take out earlier this week, and everything was just as good at home - they pack the broth separately from everything else, so when you're ready to eat, you just put what you want in your own bowl and you're good to go. I also love the ambiance in the restaurant. Quiet classical music and stained glass light fixtures, a rustic tile floor, wood everywhere - it's lovely and relaxing.

    (5)
  • Julia S.

Delicious pho tai broth!!! Strong flavor with lots of noodles and a regular amount of meat. Beautiful interior, very fancy with soft classical music playing in the background, waiters were also very professionally dressed adding to the nice atmosphere.

Super fast for take-out, holy cow. I can come in here, place an order for pho, and walk out in 5 minutes. Doesn't even matter how many bowls I'm ordering. Other things may take a bit longer. I don't even bother to call ahead anymore cause they're so freaking fast. They're also really pleasant while you wait. I like the broth here, it's very good. I find the pre-determined seleactions for meat options to be a little frustrating, but I've settled on one that's pretty good. It kept me from coming here regularly for a while though. All in all though, the meats are good, the veggies they supply for the pho are very good, lots more variety of things than other pho in the area. Spring rolls are pretty good. I ordered a steak dish once that was better than I expected. And they now have an avocado shake on the menu, which I was able to sample and was very happy with. We'll be ordering those in the future. I really like this place. The staff and owners are really pleasant, they're great fore tak-out, they're tasty, and they're reasonably priced.

I had driven by this place usually on my way to a car repair place on Mcloughlin Blvd and this my first time here. It is much nicer inside. Clean, comfortable and spacious as well as perfect for groups since they have round tables for seven. There is a nice bar and I was greeted immediately and shown to a great table for 1 by a sunny window. The lamps are beautiful and so is the comfortable furniture. I noticed the pleasant soft instrumental music. The staff was attentive and welcoming. I ordered the vegetarian pho (pho chay) with added broccoli. I was famished after a strenuous workout. The soup came in minutes, steaming hot, full of fresh veggies and perfectly cooked tofu with a nice plate of sprouts, basil, cilantro, lime, and sliced jalapeños. The soup was amazing! Great broth. It was all completed with a nice dose of Sriracha and housin sauce, which was already at the table. I was in a hurry but felt unhurried and peaceful. What a nice surprise. Excellent experience! Great fresh food, nice staff, fast, convenient, in a clean and comfortable locale all for only $6.50. I will be back!

The chicken pho here is pretty decent. Each person gets their own plate of herbs, sprouts, lime and jalapenos which is a real treat. Prices are ridiculously affordable, but if you are a big eater might need to buy an appetizer or ask for extra noodles.

I don't normally review a restaurant after only one visit I thought I would review Pho Gia as I probably won't be back. (Not because of anything especially bad but because its on the wrong side of town for me.) Stopped for lunch with a friend and was seated immediately. They quickly brought water and menus. I ordered the spring rolls with nouc mam and got peanut sauce. They were quick to correct the mistake once we were able to flag a waiter. Before we were able to take the second bite of our spring roll they brought our soup. I guess I should have been happy that they were quick with the soup as it was hard to flag a waiter for the rest of the meal. The spring rolls were good and at $4 the price was right. I'd definitely order them again though I did miss the little carrot shreds that normally accompany nouc mam. Let's talk about the soup. I expected better after reading the reviews for their Sandy location. I eat pho regularly, typically about once a week and the pho that I had here was very average. The broth was thin and not very flavorful. In good pho the broth is a major player here it was a bit part player at best. Typically when I get my bowl of pho it's steaming hot and I need to let it cool a bit before attacking the broth. Here it was warm but not as hot as I expected. They give you a lot of noodles but there wasn't much tendon or tripe and only a couple of pieces of flank. They charge less than most pho places but it shows in the size of the helpings. Personally I'd rather pay a dollar more and get more protein in my soup. On a personal gripe they don't have chile sauce on the table. I like sriracha as much as the next person but I prefer chile sauce in my pho. Overall if I was in the area I'd stop again but there are so many better pho restaurants in Beaverton and along 82nd that I probably won't go back.

My sister and I went there for lunch. She had the salmon and I had the #31. We also tried the ga satay for an appetizer. The ga satay was really good. I don't typically like pickled vegetables, but it tasted really good. I tried some of my sister's salmon as well. It was by far the best salmon I have ever partaken of. It was moist, flavorful, and tender. There was some sort of a rub on it as well that was amazing. My soup was delicious. I have never had pho before but I found some instructions online. I made it a tad to spicy, totally my fault, but either way, it was fabulous. It is not a soup that has a lot if meat. So if you are expecting a meat soup like we normally have in America, you are wrong. It is a noodle soup with some meat in it. The noodles are by far my favorite part of the soup. The meat is a nice addition to the soup and the herbs that you can add in are awesome. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is also very affordable.

I work right up the street from this location in at some of the bestPho that I have ever had! They take care of you it's adequately price and they move really quickly! Being in Oregon where it rains most of the time hot soup is just what the doctor ordered! Check this place out whether you're interested in the soup noodle dishes salads or salad rolls it's all good here!

Favorite place for Pho!!! Broth is amazing and seasoned perfectly. The Ga Satay appetizer is also highly recommended. Fast and friendly service on top of their great food make Pho Gia and must visit and me a frequent guest.

This place is not how it looks on the outside (e.g. dingy). At first, when this place was in the process of opening, I vowed never to set foot inside. The restaurant finally opened. I noticed how full the parking lot was on weekends. I thought, "This place may actually be good!" I checked Yelp, and 4 stars! I knew I had to visit, especially since the place is only minutes away from my residence. The inside looked nothing like the dinginess of the outside (see pics another user was kind enough to post). The dining room is rather fancy and extremely clean! Note: I have never tried the pho. If you are a pho fan, you should read other reviews. I'm not much of a soup fan, so I was pleased that they offer a variety of non-soup entrees. Entrees here aren't strictly Vietnamese. They have Japanese foods and pad Thai. I've had the chicken yaki soba and lemongrass chicken so far. The flavor did not seem to be lacking! There is also a variety of delicious appetizers, such as fresh spring rolls, crispy rolls, gyoza, and various salads. I like how healthy the food can be (though, as usual, depends on what you order). While some things are fried, such as the salt and pepper squid or shrimp and crispy rolls, many items are not. I hate how everything seems to be fried these days! Entrees come with plenty of cooked vegetables! Prices are excellent. It is easy to eat under $10 (including tip). Nowadays, I feel you have to spend at least $15 to have a decent dinner. A few dishes are $10 but they involve salmon or steak, so that's what you'd expect... The waiters are friendly, and they seem to have your order cooked/prepared really fast! (Don't know if I should be worried about this?) Last time I was here, they brought our spring rolls within five minutes of us ordering. My only critique is that sometimes they seemed to have skimped on the meat. Last time I was here, my yaki soba could have used more chicken. Also, they should make the outside of the place look more appealing, although not a necessity. I'm fine with people believing this place to be dingy. Less crowded for me :) For the taste and the price, I will definitely be back! I wish to try the salt and pepper shrimp, yaki udon, and pad Thai! Hopefully, they will not skimp out on the meat...

We were in town for our son's basketball tournament. A great find! Good food & great prices. Nice, clean, and big enough (and nice enough) for special occasions. It also has a full bar. Good service also! We loved our dinner so much we went back for lunch the next day. Definitely will go back next time we're in the area. Definitely one of the best Pho places we've been to (we had pho in WA, CA, MD, VA and OR). Pai Tai could use some improvement though.

Travel over the Pacific NW and have eaten at countless Pho | Vietnamese restaurants. Pho Gia rates right up there with the best. Fresh vegetables, tender beef and we all know what makes or breaks Pho...the broth. The broth at Pho Gia was rich and flavorful. Service was top notch as well. If you're anywhere near Milwaukie, OR and need a pho fix do NOT pass this place up.

This is a great family place. Prices are reasonable, service is great, the restaurant is clean, and most importantly the food is delicious! Portions are good. In particular, the Thai iced tea and the pho and wonderful!! I had the fried spring rolls and they tasted homemade!!!

This is a mostly unknown gem. The pho is great, but so is everything else that I have tryed. It's almost odd that the staff doesn't try and get their ticket amounts up by pushing drinks and apps. Very clean, and a good vibe going on.

  • Kim T.

My husband and I love this place! We have tried Pho at so many other establishments around Portland and have never left fully satisfied until we found this gem! The staff has always been nothing but amazing and the food is to die for! Our orders have always come out fresh, piping hot, and in record time. Even placing a to go order was a good experience the one time we could not dine in. The staff was yet again very friendly and helpful, they welcomed me up to the bar and offered me water while I waited, I was barely able to drink half of the glass before my order was placed in front of me perfectly packaged! We will never go anywhere else for Pho!

We LOVE Pho Gia - have it at least every other week. The quality is incredible considering how much money you are paying! We love the fresh rolls. Crazy big portions and really cheap! Also the pho. Any of the options. BUT THE MOST AMAZING THING has got to be the Luc Lac. It is cubed steak cooked in this very garlicky garlic mixture, served with lettuce and rice. It is easily some of the best food I have ever had in my life. So. Be nice to yourself and go eat some pho at Pho Gia. :)

  • Doug N.

Very disappointed in the dish. The spring rolls were ok, the peanut sauce was kind of tasteless but the number 12 was not so good. It was steamed veggies, rice and a combination of pork and shrimp. Both the pork and the shrimp looked like they had been cooked the day before and tasted the same. Both were very dry like they had been sitting out under heat lamps for 24 hours. The veggies were good but the rest that you are really paying for was sub standard.

We love this place! We regularly would travel out to Powell street for some decent pho so we were hopefully when we saw this place opening up. They did not disappoint. The prices are fantastic and the quality is great. The place is clean and pleasant. The servers are always super friendly and the food comes fast. The broth in their pho is a little different than I have ever had before, but not in a bad way. Just a different way. We have been back many times. These guys are great.

I've been in Oregon for a few days now and have been craving for traditional Vietnamese food. We discovered Pho Gia on a whim and I personally ordered and enjoyed the Pho Dac Biet (#30) and it really hit the spot. The interior decor is a nice red theme and is complimented by soothing instrumental music. Service is also wonderful and I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting delicious Vietnamese food.

We have returned to this place many times and wanted to offer an update. There has been some inconsistency in the food quality and the service is lacking at times. The owner works very hard but they seem to lack the needed personnel for when it gets busy.

Had good reviews so we came in. Sadly disappointed. Pho was luke warm. Wouldn't even turn the meat from red to pink, and I had to pick tons of tripe out of my pho tai (#28) before I was too grossed out to continue. No one should have to scan every bite for ingredients they didn't ask for. Yuck! The dish we requested specifically to have "rice noodle not white rice, please" came with a huge mound of, yup you guessed it, white rice. Ugh. It wasn't even busy. We were the only people in there on a Monday afternoon. How do you mess up they only order in the house? The only thing that was good was surprisingly the teriyaki chicken that my kid ordered. To top things off, I went to their pretty clean restroom only to find they don't use seat covers. I like a little sanitary protection between my tush and where so many strangers put their buttocks. We won't be returning unless we are craving some teriyaki on a Sunday when no one else is open in the OC.

Finally tried Pho Gia today for lunch. Hubby is on vacay so we decided to do our usual pho Thursday here instead of driving up to Pho Hung on 82nd. We've known about Pho Gia since they began working to open the place but never stopped in. We moved to this end of Milwaukie in July so now Pho Gia is just a few blocks away. Overall the food was good. Hubby had the beef pho (#31) and I had he chicken pho which is my usual. He also tried the crispy rolls and I had the spring rolls with shrimp. I agree with one reviewer about the flavor of the broth. It's definitely more star "anisey" than I'm used too but that's not a bad thing. The servings are smaller than Pho Hung but a few cents cheaper. The individual plate of veggies was perfect as were the accompanying sauces. The only thing missing was the chili garlic sauce. The one thing I did not like was the peanut sauce they serve with the spring rolls. It was mostly peanut butter - very bland and no heat to it at all. Pho Hung's peanut sauce isn't spicy either so I always add a good amount of chile garlic sauce to it. However it has more flavor overall than what Pho Gia serves. I added some sriracha to it but it just wasn't a good sauce for the spring rolls. As I said earlier, overall we enjoyed it. The restaurant itself is nice - decor is lovely and the tables comfy. The service was a little slow but not horrible. Everyone was very friendly and I'm certain we will be back, especially since we live close by. I'm definitely thinking I want to try other items on the menu. Would be awesome if they delivered!

Just had dinner here tonight and we were pleasantly surprised. They have really good prices and the decor was nice. They have a lot of room for larger groups. We used to go to this place a few years ago when it was a Mexican restaurant and it was kind of ghetto, but they have really done a lot of work inside. I thought the food was decent. I'm not much of an expert on pho, not even sure how to say it correctly. We had some kind of crispy spring roll that seemed a little over done but once you cover it it sweet chili sauce or plum sauce it's all good. The service was pretty good, they passed my husband's soda refill test. Johnny on the spot with no slurping required :)

I came here to order a thai iced tea and yakisoba for take-out. There are so many places to get pho around here but this one obviously stood out because it's so huge! The yakisoba was one of the best I ever had! I ordered it with tofu, but my friend had it with the chicken and it was really good too! The interior is huge and pretty and doesn't make me feel claustrophobic. Everyone was nice, and they were really fast! I'll come back a lot!

First let me say that for Milwaukie, you probably can't beat this place. The outside of the building still looks a little weird from when it used to be a Mexican restaurant, but the inside is beautiful. Really nicely decorated. I am a big pho fan, and I was a little bit disappointed with their soup. It fell on the sweeter end of the spectrum than savory. Maybe a lot of star anise? Not sure, but it had a sweeter flavor than I like. I don't remember the Sandy Blvd location being like that, so maybe it was a fluke? If I want to have pho in a fancy environment in the future, I might come back, but if I am going on taste alone, I will keep getting my suburban pho in Oregon City.

I tried this restaurant for the first time today, even though it is in my neighborhood and has been at this location a couple years. I was very surprised at how nice and well decorated it is. Lots of room, attentive staff, and great food. I'll be back soon.

Pho is just about my favorite food on the planet, so while it seemed to take FOREVER for this place to finally open, I couldn't wait to try their food. I was surprised at how big the place was inside. For a meal that usually takes 20 minutes from ordering to finishing, they just don't need this much space. I ordered the Pho Tai. Which is my go-to at any pho joint and is my gold standard. On the plus side, they include a ton of noodles. But on the downside, the broth isn't terribly flavorful, which is the whole point of pho. I've been to other places that do chicken pho better than beef, so I might be willing to come back and give that a try, but other gran that, sadly, I won't be planning a return visit. There are plenty of 82nd Ave places that do this meal justice.

Food was pretty good. It was eerily empty when we went on a Saturday afternoon. It's really nice inside, newly remodeled. The pho broth was a little bit less savory than I'm used to, but it was still good.

Finally a Pho restaurant that doesn't require a long trip into the heart of weirdsville, (Portland). There are a few Pho places I think are better, but I hate dealing with the pretentiousness of the Hawthorn strip, or The skeezy people on N Broadway. And coming from the far south end of town makes these trip times more than I usually want to invest. So I was skeptically excited to try this new place near to my stomping grounds. Food is great. The Pho is fresh and lots of flavor. I have also tried a few of their appetizers just to get a feel for the quality of their other dishes and was very pleased. I have really enjoyed the food both times I have been here now. Seems like they are still working out some kinks in the organization and waitstaff department but nothing serious. I would definitely recommend if you are on the south end and like good Pho, stop in.

You must try this place. Caveat, if you eat here it may raise your execrations and other places may no longer satisfy you. Yes, it is that good. Hoping it stays this way.

I really liked this place! I tried the spring rolls and they were great. I like the sauce for the spring rolls. I liked how fast the food was prepared (I was there when the place was empty, though) and I liked the service.

We stopped by here for a quick bite. My wife and I ordered Pho Dac Biet. The broth is good. The place is well decorated. The waiter is very friendly. Overall I'm very satisfied.

Had my first experience with them tonight. My husband and I ordered takeout: spring rolls, ga satay, pad Thai, and pho tai. First, let me say, too much food for two people! Second, everything was delicious. Fresh herbs, flavorful broth and sauces... Good, friendly service, too. We'll be ordering from here again.

Finally! After seeing the "opening soon" sign over Pho Gia's Milwaukie location for what seems like years, they're finally open. And I'm ecstatic. Yeah, I'm prejudiced. I've been a regular at their Sandy Bl. location since a week after they opened. And when I saw that they'd come into my 'hood, I thought it was great. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. And now they're open. Folks - this is the restaurant that I judge all other phos against. They are the most flavorful, most aromatic. There's a special-ness about the chicken pho - I think it's five-spice, but it might be more. Whatever it is, it's GOOD. Yeah, I'm ecstatic.

I've been to Pho Gia about 5 time in the last 2 months and it was great every time. The food is always better thanI expect . If you had gone to the Mexican restaurant that was in the building before, you are in for a surprise, the inside has been completly remodeled and it's beautiful inside they didn't take any short cuts here. and they don't with the food either . Going again tommorow night ! And the prices are very reasonable

Returned to give this establishment another try and to give the soup, their specialty a try. This time I was seated immediately and given a menu, Ordered one of the soups recommended by the server, The soup was very good but was served with a dish of herbs which I no idea of what they were or what to do with them except probably add to the soup, which I tried and then realized the soup was better without at least some of them. I would have asked but only saw one server who was then busy with other customers. I will eventually try this establishment again but I now know to ask what comes with the soup and how the herbs should be used.

Excellent salmon and pad Thai, spring rolls were excellent. Elegant, simple decor that's very easy on the eyes. Dinner for two under $20 was a real treat! Highly recommended.

Wow, very tasty very authentic and the service was spot on. Absolutely will be back again. Not sure if we were just there on a particularly good night, or the disappointed reviewers were there on a particularly off night but for us, it was terrific all the way round. Very pleasant dining room too, clean and comfortable.

We once tried the Portland location and were not wowed -- usually ended up at Pho Dang. Then we saw that Pho Gia was opening up here in Milwaukie, saw the sign, and waited, and waited... finally it opened up. Hesitantly, we went in... still remnants of the Italian place previously in the large space -- a far classier room than the other Pho places we've been. We ordered the salad rolls -- excellent. We ordered the Pho - and were wowed. Great, well spiced broth. Great quality, plentiful meat. They only serve the equivalent of a "small" size, which is fine with us... Well, we've been back over a dozen times and have never been disappointed. The staff is pleasant, if not very outgoing. Even the wine is good. Their broth has grown and grown on us. Pho Gia is now our go-to Pho place (sorry Pho Dang -- we love your staff but your food is uneven and we live out here in West Linn). One of these days we'll try something else on their limited menu, but we can't resist that Pho.

Don't let the outside appearance fool you- this place is a friendly little oasis. Good prices and really yummy Pho- they have Chicken Pho as well for those who can't hang with Ox Tails. The service is friendly and fast- if you like Pho; check this place out!

Wow this place has to be my favorite Pho spot. It's worth the ride to Milwaukie. Besides the normal side plate fresh basil, lime, jalepeno, and sprouts, you also get lemongrass leaves and cilantro. They even have a shrimp and scallop pho. There is cocktails available. Also very reasonably priced. Yummy!

There's not much to speak of for Pho in the southern metro area (Pho Thi in Oregon City is fairly good, but places in Portland are better) and I was skeptical of this place just because of how scummy McLoughlin Blvd in Milwaukie can be. Man, was I wrong. I am a huge fan of Pho Dac Biet and get it wherever Pho is served, and I think I may have found my new favorite place. Whatever they're doing with the ratio of spices to fat is really perfect for my tastes. Portions are medium/large and everything is fresh. Price, service, and interior environment are all great too. Cannot speak to any other dishes (except the shrimp rolls as appetizer which is crisp and tasty), so my rating is solely based on my enjoyment of the Pho Dac Biet. Check 'em out...

I really like this place. The staff is so pleasant and often joke with me even when I am just picking up a to go order. I have found to stick with the Vietnamese options which are delicious - the Yakisoba and Pad Thai are not as good as their other dishes: crunchy spring rolls, chicken satay, a pork dish that I can't remember the name of and of course pho are all good. In Milwaukie good dining choices are non existent but this is one!

Overall great. We will go back again for sure. The menu has a good amount of variety, enough to go several times to try it all. My wife and I had some great pho--very aromatic and flavorful compared to others we've had. Nice side plate with the expected crisp sprouts, leaves of basil, cilantro, and one or two other aromatic herbs that had a similar smell but that I haven't seen elsewhere, and fresh jalapenos. Kids shared a fried tofu and tomato dish that was perfect for them. It is clean, with a nicely done but not frilly interior, casual. We were there on a Thursday and though there were plenty of cars in the parking lot there was no wait. We were seated quickly, brought water and other drinks quickly, and the food was quick too, and a very reasonable price. They offered and brought a high chair without us having to ask. Well done. Looks like a few others trying this place recently had issues with service but I would hope it gets more consistent as they work out kinks.

Like other reviewers, I'd been anxiously awaiting the opening for quite a long time. The remodel of the restaurant was done really well, everything was tastefully upgraded, it is clean, calm and very low key. Since this is a noodle shop, you have to try the pho to see,how it measures against the good ones on SE 82nd. For their opening weekend, not bad at all. The basil was fresh and crisp as were the sprouts. Unfortunately the broth was on the weak side and no jalapeño peppers to be found anywhere. I had to use sriracha sauce to spice up the broth, it did came to life with that little addition and there were no leftovers. My husband had pad Thai and probably won't have it here again as there is an excellent Thai restaurant just up the road. No one seems to be fluent in English because when I suggested they serve fresh peppers with the pho they gave me a puzzled look. The pot stickers were very crisp and tasty but they did not allow enough time between apps and entree so had to eat them too quickly. I wish them great success and hope they continue to get better.

Let's get this straight, there's no food in Milwaukie. None. So my family and I were ecstatic when Pho Gia finally opened, eager to try out someplace new. It did not disappoint. The food is fantastic. . .I can't speak for the pho (I'm not a fan) but every veggie dish I've had has been great; you can tell everything is fresh and considerably inexpensive. The space is large, which means diners aren't crowded in, and the decor is relaxing. The staff is personable, kind and helpful. There have only ever been two poelpe there when we've gone, but we've never ended waiting too terribly long. This is a great place; one of the best (or THE best) in Milwaukie.

Yep, 5 stars! There are not a lot of great Thai places in the Oregon Ciy, Gladstone, Milwaukie area, some are just OK. But this place cooks up some delicious Thai food at great prices. I am always impressed with the service and the food. They once recommended a tasty peppered shrimp dish when I couldn't make up my mind and I was not dissappointed. I have dine here 3 or 4 times since it opened and had a great experience each time.
