Love Bob's Red Mill flours, and especially love the location- right across the street from Dave's Killer Bread! The Whole Grain Store is pretty fun with its cooking tools, flours, and bulk bins that have a great price for vanilla beans! This is definitely a place I come back to.

Wow what a place. Being from Columbus, OH I have seen the products in stores for years and have bought many for the markup that the east coast puts on these great products. It was so different being there. I was in heaven. I had breakfast with a friend who lives in the area. He shops there all the time with his cabinet full of BRM products. I had to buy a few things to take back. For breakfast I had the breakfast sandwich with grits and coffee. very tasty and filling. My friend had Oatmeal w/ biscuits and orange juice. We sort of shared eating from each others meals. It was so delicious. I would say if you are ever in the area there, please do not hesitate to stop by and enjoy the food and the products.

Huge selection of bulk grains and natural food stuff, and their breakfasts are great. Be sure to try the vegetarian biscuits and gravy, they are worth the 20 minute drive for us. My only gripe is their restaurant hours, what breakfast place isn't open on Sunday morning? Bonus: right across the street from Dave's Killer Bread! Open up later in the day and on Sunday, and Bob's becomes a 5 for me.

Highly anticipate checking out. Totally annoyed with my experience. The service was so slow we wondered if they were open for business. Limited menu and disappointing faire. The waitress spilled my coffee twice. Just preoccupied and not paying attention--it wasn't busy. I will never go back.

I had really no idea what to expect prior to visiting Bob's Red Mill. I assumed it would be a small store with a few aisles of product, and boy was I wrong!! You walk inside this giant 2-story building and are greeted by soft classical music over the loudspeaker as well as an overwhelming selection of- not only grain products, but- kitchen utensils, baking supplies, books, organic drinks, vegan cheese, snack foods, pasta, and even a small cafe. You have the option of buying flour/ grains in a small bag (found at most grocery stores), from bulk bins (saves money), or in 25+ lb bags (if you need A LOT of cookies all at once). I didn't notice a whole lot of vegan options on the cafe white board, but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough(?). What I did find was a to-go container of vegan whole wheat macaroni salad for a mere $2.50, and his girl loves her vegan macaroni salad. I also picked up a box of Road's End Organics Shells & Chreese, (saving .35 cents from Whole Foods' price), organic whole wheat flour for $1.25/lb, and Daiya vegan cheese. The sign by the Daiya reads "$10.35/lb" but what they fail to mention is that each bag weighs around 2 lbs. So to my surprise the total came out to $19.56, instead of my projected $10! ugh. Overall it was a pretty neat place, and if I'm ever in the neighborhood again I'll probably stop by. =]

It was nice to visit the place that makes the foods I've been eating for years. I really like the steel cut oats, the cracked rye, and the muesli. The oats and rye can be eaten like grits with butter, salt, and pepper instead of milk and sugar. I haven't eaten at the restaurant, only browsed the many grain items and "farm-like" stuff. Very interesting, and very healthful low GI carbs. My GPS got creative when sending me there, but once I saw where it was, I thought "Oh, right near Macaroni Grill and Claim Jumper on Sunnyside, just down a side road."

Awesome, awesome, awesome! The Bob's Red Mill products are of very high quality, but they're so incredibly expensive at grocery stores in those crappy little 24-28 oz bags. I found out that they were centered near Portland, so I came to visit the store. The stuff in the bulk bins is past reasonably price and actually leaning towards pretty cheap. They also have 25 lb bags of their major items. I come in to get 25 lb bags of spelt, which is at the best price I can find anywhere. The crappy 24-28 oz bags are still ridiculously expensive though. The restaurant has nothing I'm interested in, however. The turkey bacon, sausage made from (I'm guessing) soy, and non-fermented breads don't appeal to my definition of health food. This is a small detail though. The rest of the store is more than worth the bus ride out from Hillsboro.

Lured by the promise of vegetarian food (and a separate vegetarian menu) I took a long detour to Bob's Red Mill restaurant early on a Monday morning. Although there were a decent amount of vegan options, the tofu scramble (#1) was the only savory item, so I got it and a cup of (non-local) coffee. Although I try to avoid soy, I had to see how this version fared. The tofu was plentiful and peppery, with a few diced veggies (a very few) and what thankfully seemed like fresh broccoli. It was smothered in a vegan cheese. I opted out of the buttermilk biscuit for a plain slice of toast (average, which is not what I'd expected from the grain mill itself! You order at the counter and uniformed dishwashers with hair nets & gloves bring the food to you, dining-hall style. You can sit above the store and watch people shopping the aisles. Although I will continue to buy Bob's Red Mill pancake mix for my own kitchen, I don't think I'll be coming back to this place any time soon. It's a glorified diner that would be an oasis in the desert if it were on the schwag East Coast, but here in Portland we are spoiled with other eateries that are conscious and local. To end on a positive note; the counter service is positive and friendly.....and there's a gorgeous large water mill out front. You can shop for your grains on your way out. And your east-coast parents may just love it.

Bobs Red Mill is located just off I-205 in a quiet neighborhood with enough convenient parking for all patrons. If you're looking for a good place to pick up wholesome ingredients for your own home cooking, this is the place. Especially for you bakers. The multitude of ingredients they have are overwhelming, they cater to everyone. Including vegans! Yes this market has so many things to offer vegans and the market employees are VERY savvy on their products. Stop one and ask them to show you around. The cafe/diner portion of the building is just as good. They have classics like 3 egg omelets, bacon, sausage, but they also have vegetarian dishes and a few vegan dishes. The best vegan dish there is the vegan french toast. It's one of the best, and if I didn't know before hand, I wouldn't have known it was vegan. (I myself am not vegan but do enjoy doing the vegan research) They have a wide selection of coffee brewing in the morning, which is one thing that strikes me about this place. I love being able to choose a mild roast. They usually have about 6 different blends to chose from down stairs and about 4 to 6 up stairs. Also, if you show up around 7 AM or so, you have about an 80% chance of running into Bob himself. He's not a fictional character. He's a real person, and so is his darling wife. This is a family run business. So when you patron a place like this, you're supporting your community. Bob will say hello to you, pat you on the shoulder, stop at your table and talk with you. Ask you what you do for a living, make sure your food is good. He's a gentleman and a professional, finding that in an eatery is not easy to come by. While I recommend this place for breakfast/brunch. I wouldn't advise it for lunch/dinner. The menu isn't very large and that's not really what they cater for. But PLEASE, stop into this WONDERFUL establishment and take a look around. Grab some coffee, enjoy this type of atmosphere. Because in this day and age, these types of places are becoming harder and harder to find. Bobs Red Mill is a true Oregon gem, and I hope it lasts.

Let's get real. As a server, I found this place to be overwhelming. I did love the idea of a grocery store/restaurant (like cracker barrel down south) but the atmosphere while ordering was crazy. The menu was unnecessarily large - keep it simple if the customer has to order at a counter rather than have the time to sit and think about it. They had at least 30 things to choose from! When I got my buttermilk pancakes and scrambled eggs, there was nothing to be excited about for $7. I only ate one pancake and some of the eggs because it honestly wasn't worth the calories! I do appreciate that they have vegan/vegetarian options, but there's no need to make two menus out of these options! List Pancakes - buttermilk, whole wheat, vegan. Done. The ordering process was crazy! I felt like I was in the way while ordering and that the people ordering were just as stressed as I was. Also, there was nowhere on the credit card receipt for me to tip! Their employees were crazy busy and deserve at least the implication that a customer should tip. I had a good time because I was with friends, but besides that, Bob's Red Mill was underwhelming and I probably won't drive all the way out there to eat a breakfast again when I can stay in town and eat for less, with a more unique and memorable experience.

What can I say that hasn't been said already? I haven't had breakfast in the cafe, but we had a great time shopping for various flours and ingredients, and checking out the mill stone and the like. I have had nothing but great results in my baking experiments using BRM flours.

Well I'll say this: the biscuits were first-rate. But I had a more spectacular carb-o-rrific menu in mind. I mean, when the premiere local baking-goods store in the area boasts a cafe, you kind of figure it'll be the proving grounds for all the home-cooked goodness they'd like you to purchase and prepare for yourself. But the menu is pretty thin, considering. Still, the grainy items available are high-quality. It's a good place for a waffle. But I'd like to see a more splendid table set before me, you know?

  • Laura I.

Oh my goodness, this place is fantastic! My boyfriend and I split the 3 egg veggie omlette with hashbrowns and it was the perfect amount. Despite it being crowded on a late Saturday morning, the food came out pretty quickly. Great selection of dried goods for a great price. I'll definitely be coming back.

I love Bob's! They have a huge selection of gluten free options - flours, grains, mixes - and even have these options in bulk, which is uncommon (tip: much cheaper to buy in bulk!!!). When you buy in bulk, you can go over to a nearby filing cabinet and pick out the label-sticker that's normally on the package (for example, cornbread mix) so you know the ingredients, how to make it, and --- most importantly --- remember what you're actually looking at when you have 5-6 different bags of bulk flours/mixes. And the super-best part about Bob's? Actually seeing the real Bob. I've spotted him twice now, and I'm not a regular! I've probably been there 5 times over the last year or two. But it was for sure Bob... He looks just like he does on the label. So much fun! One downside: Crowded aisles. But worth the confinement.

Bob's Red Mill is great. I actually met Bob while standing in line to order some food. I asked him if he wouldn't mind signing my menu. Yeah...I realize it's a cheesy thing to ask, but I really like Bob's products. I wanted to ask Bob some questions, but Bob was in a hurry and moved on to talk with his friends. At least he was kind enough to sign my menu. Bob's wife however, came up and started talking to me. I was able to ask her some questions about their business. She was so kind and patient. In my opinion, Bob's wife was actually a bit more friendlier than Bob was. It's the Woman behind the man that makes the man who he is. So anyway, Bob's Red mill has alot of eye candy for any organic connoisseur. The nose gets completely satisfied with the smells of freshly made breads and pastries. Taste buds turn happy when they taste the soup and sandwich of the day. Don't forget to pick up some bulk products to take home later. You won't be disappointed with Bob's Red Mill.

I can't say enough good things about Bob's Red Mill. It's a truly incredible company that does amazing things in the local community. The whole grain store cafe offers tasty, wholesome food at incredibly reasonable prices. They always have gluten free options (though they advertise the selections just as wheat-free, I assume because they can't guarantee that things are free of cross-contamination in the restaurant environment). But the real highlight of a visit to the store is the bulk bins. From the bulk bins one can get almost any Bob's Red Mill product (including mixes!) at a fraction of the usual cost. After my first visit to the store I had to stop and buy about 10 new canisters on my way home to store the selection of flours and mixes I had acquired! Customer service is fantastic, too. It has always been apparent that the employees were treated exceptionally well and now that Bob has given the company to the employees it's even more apparent that these are workers who take pride in the work they do.

Would have been 5 stars if the cafe' didn't make us some yucky gluten free pancakes :( The omelet was good, and we bought about 80 dollars worth of gluten free goodness. Included were some fruit bars by betty lous, some ice cream sandwiches by glutenfreeda, and some lasagna noodles. These have all been excellent! I would skip the cafe' if you eat gluten free.

I live in NYC and love ordering from Bob's. They have amazing prices and you can buy in a variety of sizes (singles to bulk). The variety of oatmeal products is simply amazing.....if you can't find your favorite here, it probably doesn't exist! They provide all the nutritional facts you need to decide what is best for your dietary needs. I love this place. If I ever make it to Milwaukie, OR I will surely have a visit to Bob's on my list.

Despite being thoroughly swamped on the Saturday of a holiday weekend, service was fast, friendly and efficient. More importantly, i'm delighted to see they've expanded their grab & go bakery case to include a variety of vegan and/or gluten-free items. I'd seen the lemon-raspberry cake on my last trip (thumbs up on that cake, by the way,) but this time they had vegan brownies. I ask you - how on earth do i pass that up? I'm glad i didn't - it was delicious and moist and uberchocolately. The sweet potato cornmeal muffins are also vegan and wheat-free - and yummy! Get thee hence to the big red barn and consume massive quantities of vegetarian biscuits and gravy and vegan sweet-tooth satisfiers.

This is a cool looking place, but the food is pretty low-grade diner faire. For gluten-free eaters, the choice is pretty limitted. They have some vegetarian options, but Vegan isn't really happenin' here. The store part is big and there is a whole gluten-free grain aisle, but the snack choices are nothing compared with Whole Foods or New Seasons. Go for the look and feel and maybe even the mill tour, but I would recommend eating somewhere else.

Good lunch spot...had the Reuben sandwich....not bad at all...and kids had a variety of other meals that all folks liked....also a great selection of raw foods and ingredients that made for a one stop shopping experience...top it off with a latte at the outdoors coffee shop...and we were good to go

My son has a gluten allergy and Bob's has great pizza dough for those that can not have "regular" pizza. Some of the products are expensive, but Bob's has a large selection of other wholesome good for you grains, other than the dastardly wheat grain. I love the selection of product and ability to buy in bulk and I love that my son does not get depressed when we go through and shop.....Have you ever tried to shop at Safeway and Fred Meyer with a gluten allergy!

The bulk bins here are awesome. Best stop ever for all your baking needs. Also, if you are in the mood for a tasty breakfast, every meal we've eaten here is fantastic. I'm not sure how much he is around anymore, but we even met the actual Bob once. He gave my kids free cookies. :)

I love BRM! I've always been a fan of their products and that they stone-ground grains. Not only is is tasty but it's healthy too! However, I didn't know they served breakfast at the store! My friend suggested it for breakfast and I was so excited to finally go there. I ordered the breakfast sandwich special which was good. It consisted of egg, whole wheat bread, cheddar and turkey ham. The best part of breakfast was the Cheesy Corn Grits. So good! To think I can make them at home for breakfast because I can get what I need right there in the store. My friend let me have a bite of her biscuit and wow, amazing. So soft but so tasty, fluffy but moist. I can't wait to go there again. And the idea that I can get any of what BRM at bulk is even more enticement to go there.

I love having breakfast or lunch at Bob's! It is a very casual environment, the food is delicious, and very healthy. They have a great vegetarian menu that our vegan friend loved. None of the food (including ketchup) has any HFCS. Portions are large. Breakfast, along with expresso coffee for 2 people is under $20. The products at the store are awesome, and we always stock up on bread here! It tastes great, has no perservatives in it, and is only $2 per loaf/bag!!! If you come with more than 4 people, it may be tough to get a spot since you seat yourself after you order and large tables are limited. If you are willing to deal with that, it is worth coming here! I LOVE BOB'S!!!

Very hard to get good grits west of the Mississippi, but Bob's has them. Cheesy grits with an egg on top..mmmmmm doesn't get much better. I feel healthy just walking in the door. Once in a while I drop by to grab a to go lunch, but the sandwiches taste a little dry. I alwaysbring visiting friends here because they have seen the products, but didn't know they came from Portland. Recently I was looking for a gift for my bread-baking son-in-law and Bob's was the right place. I told the clerk what I needed and boy was he impressed with everything I found. I have been going to Bob's since they were over on Roethe Rd in the orginal mill and they have just gotten better. I also appreciate the philanthropic dedication Bob and his wife have for the community and their decision to leave their legacy by making the company employee owned. Oh, and they have a great kitchen for cooking classes too!

I was off today, so armed with my latest read and a 1/2 off coupon from the Chinook book, I set off for Bob's Red Mill to see what all the biscuit-and-cheesy-grits fuss was about. I liked the open, airy space a lot, and opted to sit upstairs to peruse the products and people from above. I didn't realize it would be cafeteria-style but that was fine. The food (eggs, grits, 2 huge biscuits and steamed spinach) was fine. Definitely fresh. The coffee, not so fresh. But whatevs. It's not Bob's Coffee Store, after all. I can't say that I would go back just for the food, unless maybe the folks were visiting. It's a good parent place, especially if your parent(s) happen to be from the south. But their store is amazing! I've often baked with Bob's products but had no idea so many existed. And the other products are reasonably priced (Annie's Goddess dressing for $3.50? that's how much it is on sale at most stores!) and plentiful as well. Thanks, Bob.

This place is fun, lots to check out and the food is really good. Now I'm not sure why but I was compelled to order the grilled cheese (dairy allergy and all) let me tell you it was worth the itching! Super yummy - gooey creamy cheese & soft crusty bread. The cookies should be against the law! No joke, I am very glad I live so far away from this place cuz their cookies are better than crack ... I mean like crack yeah their like crack. We dined on the patio and the only negative was the highway noise, great otherwise. This is a no frills kinda place polite & helpful people don't expect to be waited on or hounded. Also the staff was very knowledgeable about GF baking options and some allergy issues can't beat that.

I've only been here once, for breakfast, but I definitely plan on returning! This is a place that I could bring my small town farmer father to and know he'd love, and ALSO a place that I can order super yummy vegan food! (the french toast and veggie sausage were wonderful!) Their store is abundant with great, healthy ingredients to take home and try our your own recipes. Check out the cookbook section if you are interested in vegetarian, vegan, diabetic, or gluten-free cooking.

fun place, tasty food. We were sitting there eating lunch and I saw this dude who looked like Bob from the packaging. Told my wife: "look! its Bob!" She said: "no way, that's not Bob, I bet Bob is like some fictional character who they just put on the packaging" After about 10-15 people stopped to say hi to Bob she finally agreed that it was Bob. He really does look just like the guy on the package :-) That aside, the sandwiches were great and they have an awesome selection of baking mixes, baking supplies and other grain related products.

Dear Bob, I love you. Every time I visit your store, it seems there's a new, healthy, whole grained adventure waiting just around the corner! The rows of local, healthy products, filled with gluten-free delights quicken my heart and take my breath away! I must confess to you that my dreams are nighty filled with visions of you and I, walking through fields of organic grain. You always smile, hand me a chocolate-chip oatmeal cookie, and say, "here. I had them make this just for you. fresh. today." I know I will see you soon, for you seem to keep up your daily visits to the store-making sure things are as they should be. As I bag my bulk white bean flour (for that added fiber I adore), I will catch a glimpse of you, and blush. sigh. love, amy

If you're going on a health-food kick (or if you just want something tasty and awesome), you HAVE TO check out Bob's Red Mill...this place has everything. You might recognize the name from the natural foods section of any grocery store you shop at. The little bags of whole grains and germ and flours and cereals with the face of a guy that could be Santa Claus. Well, even though the grocery store you normally go to has a shelf of their stuff, the actual store has, well, a huge store full of so many different varieties of granola, muesli, flour, oats, and bulk items that it's almost certain you won't be leaving empty handed. But if you're not looking for a shopping trip involving organic grains, you have to at least eat at their cafe. You know what I've found? It's always more fun to go out for breakfast. And while Bob's Red Mill might not provide entertainment (apart from being able to watch the old water-run grain grinder grind on the inside), they do know how to cook up a mean breakfast...and all of it fresh! Amazing omelettes, half a dozen choices of homemade toasts, biscuits, home-grown hot cereals, and a buttery and delectable stack of pancakes (your choice of grain) are just a few of the items on their very affordable list of meals. While healthier meats--like turkey sausage and turkey ham--find their way onto the menu, so do lots of vegan-friendly items (the grains from which can also be purchased in the store area). And, surprisingly, this place also brews up a satisfying cup of coffee or espresso. Did I mention they have BAKED doughnuts? How's that, Laura N.? If you decide to take a walk up the stairs, take a little time to skim the multitude of framed newspaper articles about Bob and his endeavor to bring healthy eating to the world! My one complaint? Sometimes the servers have a hard time finding tables, as it's an order and then sit kind of place. However, Bob's Red Mill is well worth the drive to Milwaukie.

This is a great place to take visitors, enjoy a casual (and delicious) meal, or stock up on high quality baking items. My favorite is the bulk area, less expensive than packaged and great for filling containers in your kitchen for flour, sugar, etc. I especially love their wide variety of oat meal, especially the Scottish Oatmeal. Pro tip! You can get a buy one get one for 1/2 off coupon here: bobsredmill.com/get-a-co…

I've been going to Bob's Red Mill since I was little. After moving away from Clackamas and Oregon, I was so excited to find Bob's Red Mill products on the other side of the country. I'm so proud of this place! This location is a customer-facing market and restaurant. It's a bit out of the way, on Highway 224 between Milwaukie and Clackamas. It maybe could be worked into a drive between Portland and Mt Hood or Clackamas. As expected, they have a ton of Bob's Red Mill products. It's high quality, natural, whole grain awesomeness. There's a standard-sized selection of other bulk nuts/fruits/etc. It's not as huge as I remember it was back when I was a kid -- I think they move more of their products into the pre-packaged section. Or maybe it just looked bigger when I was little! They have a restaurant that serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Don't expect those wacky, creative foods you get at the trendy restaurants closer to downtown. Bob's Red Mill restaurant has healthy and wholesome versions of American diner food: healthy pancakes (a little too heavy for me), omelets, sandwiches, chili. I love their black bean chips that come with the sandwiches. They also have a vegetarian menu. Their baked goods section is especially tasty. My favorite is their vegan oatmeal craisin cookies. They also (at least used to?) have a cheesy/vegetable/bread loaf, which is a tasty savory snack. It's a really nice space. There is seating on the first floor, outside near a fountain (and the highway), and my favorite, on the second floor overlooking the market. Often, you'll see Bob himself here! Super cool!

I love this place!!!! Food is so clean, fresh, yummy and such sweet, home style choices. It's like the way Denny's or Shari's SHOULD taste but doesn't come close! Bob's food is wholesome, comfort food made with REAL actual food ingredients! So impressed!! Their cookies are out of this world good! And they offer this great alternative to soda pop sweetened with agave syrup, how cool is that?! Then the icing on the cake for me was their exceptional customer service. They were all so nice to my 2 small children, and so helpful answering all our questions about ingredients since we all have food allergies. So accommodating, professional and genuinely kind. This has become our families favorite place to eat, can't wait to go again soon!!

A great place to eat! Healthy yet tasty menu options. The steak and eggs are always delish and many other items. You can't really go wrong here. The prices are reasonable and the food is fresh, not greasy or over seasoned. The dinners are also very good. I had the salmon and.the asparagus was cooked to perfection. Excellent friendly service. They have a nice selection of baked goods and I would only say it would be a good idea to liable them better as some times have nuts in them. A cozy environment to eat in and a fun place to shop for numerous items!

1st time here . A friend told me about here so we were compelled to try.. I had a steak and eggs for 12$ and it was as amazing!!! The biscuits are really great and Brittany brought our food really really fast. They have seating down stairs and upstairs but the upstairs is much cozier. Also I bought some stuff from their store and got 5$ off.. Woohoo.. I will be going back for sure

I like a lot of Bob's products and this location with the restaurant and store is very nice. It gets very busy here on the weekends but the service is quick. It is a order and take a number establishment but there is ample seating. The food portions are very large which is nice. The food itself is good, but not great. Good family environment. We go here sometimes but as far as breakfast spots in the area I go elsewhere when showing Portland's food off.

Yes! Yes! and Yes! Bob's is awesome. They have packaged foods and bulk options. That literally makes me giddy. Came here only needed a couple of things (mostly I wanted to check out the store) and left with a basket full. Their breads are awesome too. I think we got rosemary rolls? Oh ya. Didn't actually eat here, not sure I could as a vegan. I should pay more attention, sorry. But with all the goodies I was easily distracted. They have some great storage options there as well, I just wish it wasn't all plastic. Boo. I think Bob's will likely become a staple stop on our bi-monthly visits to Milwaukie.

We went for supper last night, and the special was JUST AMAZING! It was chicken cooked perfectly. Fresh chicken, high quality perfectly cooked chicken with a clean taste. It came with roasted fresh tomatoes, a fantastic oat pillaff with mushrooms, and roasted asparagus. We chose the pillaff, and I am glad we did, but there were other delicious choices: potatoes, polenta, and another. We will try those next time, though the pilaff was so delicious that I would make a meal just of that! It came with fresh corn bread. The service was wonderful, the environment just so fun to be in! My mother and I SHARED just one dinner and ended up very satisfied. They did not charge us extra for the use of one of their plates, which some other restaurants have done in the past! Then we went to purchase grains for our breakfasts. Wow! All kinds for lower prices than anywhere else. Very good help from the helpful clerks, We went to the bulk bins and found all sorts of cereals, pancake mixes, seeds, nuts, nuts spices. I even found a pre-mixed gluten free brownie in the bulk section great for quickly preparing for a party. There are also recipe books, utensils, and many packaged items, and refrigerated items. There are breads handmade in the store. We bought some vegetable filled buns that are just so delicious and huge and fun! We love to go there, and bring people from out of town all the time.

Cheap price for quality grains, the best vegan marionberry scone I've ever had (one of the best vegan scones, ever), and the most friendly service. For a better price on grains, I recommend going to the bulk section. I need to try their breakfast menu (ends at 3pm). Also, stop by Dave's Killer Bread across the street--you won't regret it!

As you can see from the number of check-ins here, we REALLY like Bob's Red Mill. I'd love to be able to give 4 1/2 stars, but Yelp doesn't permit this. Bob's is a fantastic store, bakery, and restaurant. The store ranks 5 stars. You can get ALL of Bob's Red Mill products there, all of which are top-notch. I found Bob's Red Mill artisan bread flour there, and it is unbeatable. I make pizzas from scratch at least twice per month, and it is unbelievable how big a difference this makes over both the Con Agra Mills flour I used to get from Costco. I actually like it even better than the Caputo Tipo 00 flour imported from Italy that I used to get from Amazon. Bob's bakery earns four stars as well. All their baked items are wholesome, country fare that is done extremely well. They have lots of vegan and gluten-free options as well. In fact, they seem to put just as much if not more attention on vegan and gluten-free as they do with wheat-based products in their individual item cases. Breads are all plastic-bagged, which suits the types of breads just fine. Most are very soft, non-artisan types. Bob's restaurant is VERY good, and earns four stars. They are excellent for breakfast and lunch, and they tend to focus on healthy fare. You won't find any deep-fried items on the menu or sodas containing high-fructose corn syrup. Dinners are relatively new to Bob's, and they do a REALLY good job. Consistently, everything on Bob's dinner menu is just like really well-done home-cooked comfort food. There is a daily dinner special, of which I've tried two: the pan-fried chicken (Mondays) and the prime rib (Saturdays). They have a very generous menu of items available every day, too. What is great and very surprising is that many of these items, including the pan-fried chicken, are wheat-free. They use the same cooking equipment for both the wheat-containing and the wheat-free items, so those with Celiac disease should still exercise caution. I'd recommend a visit, or many visits, to Bob's Red Mill. I've seen Bob there more than I haven't, and he's a VERY kind and caring gentleman. His caring nature carries through to all of his ex-employees (he gave the company to his employees when he retired), and you can't go wrong with a place with this strong a foundation.

To be completely honest, I was a little disappointed with my meal. We were there around breakfast time so the choices were limited. I ordered the vegetarian omelet and added ham, along with a biscuit, and grits. The egg to vegetable ratio was ridiculous, the super thin layer of egg was also watered down and didn't have much spice or even salt. The grits were also on the tasteless side. The biscuit was pretty good, and the portions were a lot bigger than we originally thought. Overall, the service was speedy but the food could have been better. I rather wait longer and have a great meal.

Great store and selection of products. Also if you are hungry, their breakfasts are large and very delicious.

Time, she takes a toll on us all, don't she? Well Bob, the luster has dulled, along with your great breakfast. It's still a great market though! They have all of the fantastically healthy grains and such plus baking hardware galore. Perhaps what has faded most is my taste for mediocre food and eating in Portland can ruin a person to the extent that my taste buds will no longer be dazzled by anything less than fantastic. For example I have had both the buckwheat and the buttermilk pancakes here back to back weekends and both were just dense and lacking in flavor. In fact the buckwheat kind of tasted like fake chocolate. It's still a cool place to visit and even have a meal though! It's not you Bob, it's I that have changed and I'm moving on. Cheers!

Quality products and a HUGE selection at great prices. I've had breakfast and lunch here a few times, and it's pretty good but a leans little too much on the "healthy" side for me. That being said, it's not easy to find good grits (or someone who knows what grits are) around here, so at least there is some unhealthy comfort food to be had. The bulk foods though, puts any other store to shame! I browsed for over an hour and still didn't get to see everything because my carpool was getting fed up with waiting. They have recipes for all their bulk items, conveniently on stickers so you can attach them to the bag instead of losing them before you get home. As other reviewers have mentioned, the parking truly does suck. They should probably put a sign out when the lot is full. We managed to snag the only available space in the lot, much to the chagrin of about a dozen other would-be customers.

First off, I want to thank yelp for leading me to this amazing place. Had I known about it, it would have been my dream to come here. I feel like I've won the lottery! Gluten free options galore. Friendly staff. You can tell that every single employee here CARES. You can also taste it. Breakfast was amazing. They also have lunch, a retail store and you can even take a tour of the mill!!! So cool. Come check it out! It is worth ANY amount of driving. SERIOUSLY!

    1. I got the french toast which was delish! It was made with their special Challah bread. 2. Good people watching if you sit upstairs. (You can be a creep like me and look down at all the people shopping.) 3. Fun place to walk around and look at all the Bob's Red Mill products that you had no idea existed!

While on our road trip we took a little detour to eat at Bobs Red Mill. It was so reasonably priced and the food was very good. I ordered the daily special which was the bbq beef sandwich. I really liked it. My wife who is gluten intolerant had the veggie sandwich on wheat free bread and also liked it very much. Afterwards we shopped at their store and bought many gluten free products. Great place.

Had a great lunch here! Affordable and tasty! This place is a must see for anyone visiting the area. There are tons of gift ideas to bring back to your loved ones or lots and lots of bulk bins to choose from. It's an employee owned company and a gray feel good story- Keep it local!

Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Store is one of my favorite places in Portland. Maybe it's because it's got this cozy and spacious feeling all at once. There are so many products you can buy, but somehow, it doesn't feel overwhelming. It feels like a million possibilities all at once! Or, maybe it's because I heard the story that when Bob was getting ready to retire, he decided that the best gift he could give his staff was to give them the store, and make them all co-owners. His (and his wife and family's) generosity warms my heart! Going there, I'm reminded that people can truly be kind and giving and love each other. Or, maybe it's because the food is so homey, delicious, healthy, and nourishing. I love the salmon with a honey sauce, a salad, a roll (delicious!), and potato, which is around $14. It's big enough for two! I also love their polenta with veggies (vegetarian). They have daily specials for dinner, and their breakfast is awesome! Though I haven't tried them, they also have daily dessert specials, and a whole shelf of gluten-free and vegan treats! Or, maybe it's because they have a beautiful area to eat outside and a fun and historic area to eat upstairs, and the whole place feels special and casual at once. You order at the counter -- which feels very old-school cafeteria, and they bring you your food. The service is so friendly! Also, they've stayed current with the times and have a huge section of gluten-free options, including a wall of gluten-free cookbooks! They also have distinct sections: Ready-made, fresh food, frozen health food (such as vegan and gluten-free options), bulk food like 4 types of Quinoa!, healthy products (like vitamins), freshly baked bread and rolls and cookies galore, and then the mixes that you can also get at New Seasons or Whole Foods. Everything seems to run seamlessly at Bob's (who, by the way, is still alive. We saw him walking through the store the other day, and it was like seeing a celebrity!). And, these qualities of ease and flow, joy and abundance are qualities I want to nourish in my life. That's why I go to Bob's Red Mill Restaurant and Store because you can feel the joy!

I came here to buy high gluten bread flour. Everyone is no doubt familiar with packages of flours, grains and beans in the distinctive packaging you see on the shelves of supermarkets and health food stores. The Bob's Red Mill company store is a treasure trove for cooks. They have every grain, flour and bean you could imagine. One part of the store has self serve bins, if you want to bag your own. But they also have bags in several weights, some bags are fifty pound bags of items like rice. I came looking for a 25lb bag of Artisan Bread Flour. I couldn't find it on the shelves. I asked one of the many staff of the floor and the assistant went in the back and carried it out to me. Yes, the service here is efficient, polite and old school. It is a big store, but a friendly store. Besides grains and beans, they have 25lb bags of sea salt, lots of kitchen gadgets and should you want to rest and eat, a cafe. If you have never seen a millstone, there are several on display. These are the millstones of the term "A millstone round my neck".

If you've been in your local grocery store, you've probably seen Bob's Red Mill products before. I've purchased the semolina flour when I've found it, but I never knew their origins were here in the Portland area. A few months ago friends told me about the place and I knew I wanted to go. I finally had the chance and my roommate was ready to go. We had a bbq in the area and on the way back we hit up Red Mill. It was as cool as what I expected plus more. All the types of flour, gluten and non. Mixes, spies, breakfast items and even fresh challah which became french toast the next morning. Very helpful staff that told us that buying bulk saves money. The two young employees that evening were great and even got part of mine and my roommates comical actions and verbal sparring. Warning, if you smell the hickory powder over by the spices.... do it quick or your nose will not like you. It's a doozy. It's a very cool place, and I didn't realize they have a restaurant as well. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. From what I'm told it's spendy, but huge portions and the food is good. Ca't wait to go back. Enjoy.

Cheesy grits! That's pretty much all I thought about for the rest of the day after my breakfast. I wish I lived in Portland, I would probably go here every day and try something new. They served my favorite field roast sausage, and some of the best grits I've ever had. So many great healthy and vegetarian options. Coffee was money too.

Had received a very pleasant response back from a Bob's Red Mill service representative not long after my original review posted. Seems there had been a recent full kitchen remodel and staff was still getting used to the new equipment. Mr. Moore enjoys having wait staff so that process will not be going away. I would like to give the restarant another try when I'm in the area as as I do enjoy many of their packaged gluten free products and will revise star rating accordingly. Oh, I never got back to green pea flour in the original review. During the tour, our guide mentioned that it not only makes a quick gluten free pea soup but can be an addition to increase fiber and protien in cooking. That bag I bought still needs to be tried come fall and cooler days. I've included their link below for more information. bobsredmill.com/green_pe…

NO PORK PRODUCTS! Way to fail, Bob. The cafe is cafeteria style ordering with table delivery. Pretty interesting and efficient. Sadly my scrambled eggs were overcooked and my pancakes were too dense and tasted funny before they died in the window under a heat lamp. And, y'know, no fucking bacon. The store is okay if you need garbanzo bean flour or spelt berries. If you're experimental or exceptionally picky, worth a look. Otherwise, not sure it's worth a trip to the back end of Milwaukie.

I wanted to love this place. I liked the quotes about eating healthy all around and I thought it looked pretty cool, I didn't have time for the tour which might have been fun. But my issue was the food. I didn't like it. Maybe it was because we got it to go We were in a rush and had to eat in the car on our way to Vista House. We decided to bag it and eat in the car. I got the vegan chili with cheese and the baked potato. What I got was a potato, then a box of cold shredded cheese. Then a box of chili, and then another side of cold shredded cheese. Was this really neccessary? The cheese was so weird, it was inedible. The chili was gross and made me instantly sick and I was glad Vista house wasn't an all day event because I couldn't' wait to get to a bathroom!

What a find! I've been a fan of Bob's Red Mill for several years now. I just moved here from Cali 6 months ago. I have a friend in Newport, and she mentioned she'd be in my neighborhood. I set out to find us a fun place for breakfast. So, the store is pretty easy to find. It's a bit of a hike from Beaverton, 30-40 minutes. I like the private lot, had no problem finding parking. The inside is amazing! Every grain you can think of, they have it. i need to return when I have some serious $$$ burning a hole in my pocket. i had the vegetarian biscuits and gravy. i judge a breakfast place on their biscuits, so I was a little nervous. They're delicious! A little heavy on the gravy though, but with the fresh fruit on the side I got halfway through and took the rest home for my husband. Service is very quick and friendly, and i really love that almost everything on the menu is under $10. I will definitely return!

Amazing. Milwaukie is lucky to be home of three of some of the best places in the country: 1) Dark Horse Comics: 2) Steak Shack; 3) Bob's Red Mill. The food is always good (today I the vegetarian biscuits and gravy which came with fresh fruit)-- and the staff is always friendly. This is my spot for late breakfast (aka lunch) and for all my grain/flour needs. They also have a section with long-term storage containers... Score!

I absolutely love Bob's. I make a pilgrimage from Portland about once a month to stock up on beans, grains, spices and all the other wonderful things in their amazing, inexpensive bulk bins. Many stores in Portland carry Bob's Red Mill brand and some offer a large selection but when you're at Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Store, it's like going from a candy store to visiting Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Every single great Bob's product is sold there and a majority of them are available in the bulk section. There is a lot to be said for not paying for packaging, the value passed on to the consumer is well worth writing out sku numbers on a tag. I keep all my beans and grains in my house in glass containers and all my spices are in labeled magnetic jars so buying without packaging is coveted and ideal and it definitely suits my budget. Bob's also offers a simple breakfast and lunch menu in their cafe and they have a separate vegetarian menu where all the vegan items are clearly marked. I absolutely love their french toast and the $5.59 price tag is the least expensive for vegan french toast in Portland. The cafe is open until 3pm daily though the store and cafe are both closed on Sundays. It's a bit of a trek to get to Milkwaukie but it's really not that bad plus Dave's Killer Bread is right across the street, making it easy to light two candles with one match. If you like high quality products for an affordable price, you owe yourself a trip to Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Store.

I love Bob! Bob's red mill that is! In the past year I have recently learned about gluten free cooking and baking. Bob's red mill is where I go to stock up on all my gluten free staples, everything from flours to noodles. My local grocery store does not carry a lot of the flours that I use, so I gladly make the trek across town to the Red Mill. It's always busy when I've been in, but you can still make your way thru the store and check out fairly quickly. My go to is the bulk bins. Love the bins and how cheap it is! The prices here versus some at chain grocery stores are much cheaper and realistic. You're getting the same product but the bigger stores mark it up so much, that's crazy! I find it hard to swallow paying over $5 for gf flour for only a few pounds. At The Mill you can get this for less than half the cost! This is a bakers dream store. They have non gluten free items, spices, cook books... and a little cafe that I have not tried yet. They also sell the 5 gallon food buckets to store your flours in if you are into stocking up on that much product at one time!

I love Bob's!! If I could give Bob a 6th star I would. How can you not love a place with such a wide range of baking mixes, rice, oatmeal, gluten free items, cereals etc. Plus who can't appreciate the built in restaurant that serves breakfast & lunch! I've never been for lunch but the breakfast is amazing and the prices are really affordable! My Favs: Steele Cut Oatmeal Muesli Coconut Granola Indian Food Spice Mixes Chocolate Pumpkin Cookies Raisin Bran Muffin Mix I still stock up on all my favorites every time I'm in town! While Bob's is becoming more common outside PDX, you can't beat the selection or prices at the home store.

I am lucky enough to work just across the street from Bob's Red Mill. Lunches are a little expensive for an every day habit (although their Tuna Melt's to die for), but there are daily $1.75 coffee specials at the cart outside that threaten to foster a serious dependency. And let's not forget the Mill. When my mom decided she could no longer eat wheat, yeast or sugar, Bob's was the first place I went. They have everything you could want in terms of alternative grains, pastas, bread mixes, sweeteners and the like. To top it off, there's also the fact that Bob himself walks through several times a day in a Disney Land, larger than life, kind of way, turning heads and leaving excited murmurs in his wake.

Good place for Breakfast. I try to go around 8AM to beat the rush of people trying to get food. I'd love to comment on lunch and now they serve dinner but I've never tried it but I'm sure it's tasty. You should try it.

This a one of a kind store! This review is about the store and the quality products they sell. I like the fact that they offer a wide variety or grains and other healthy options. Besides, it feels good to support an employee-owned company. Highly recommended.

I have been telling myself for a long time that I needed to try Bob's Red Mill for dinner...and I was right. I had heard a while ago that Bob's was doing dinner now, not just breakfast and lunch, but kept forgetting about it when choosing somewhere to go for dinner. Finally tried it and I'm so glad I did. I got the shepards pie, my wife got a burger, and my son got a special of the day, which was chicken marsala with mushroom risotto. All of the dishes were excellent. Everything had great flavor, was fresh, and well prepared. The Saturday night that we were there they also had live music. They did music right. The music was loud enough to hear but not so loud you couldn't have a conversation over dinner. Thank you Bob's, for knowing that live music can be an addition to an experience. It doesn't have to take over the whole experience. Really a great place. The only thing that keeps me from giving it five stars is the lunch counter style ordering and the one self service soda machine which is downstairs and meaning you have to get up in the middle of your meal and go downstairs to refill if you run out. The counter ordering and single soda machine are probably cost measures which help them keep prices affordable. I have now had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Stop in, you won't be disappointed.

Very cool place to checkout, especially if you have people in your family that are gluten free. The food served at the cafe is also very good, and if you like baking and cooking you'll find a lot of good ingredients. They also have a good espresso stand out front if you're looking for an afternoon adventure.

Ok, folks, I still stand by my prior review!! 5 Jan 2015 I went back for dinner (with a Chinook Book coupon 2 for 1 OH YEA) and my pops and I both ordered the steak. I got it Whole 30 style with only steamed asparagus and a dry side salad, rare. Pops opted for medium with whipped potatoes, corn and 1000 Island side salad and, a special treat, the homemade steak sauce. Salads came very quickly, but it was a bit of a wait for entrees, we were just starting to despair, but were rewarded by two tender, juicy steaks - both cooked exactly to our liking. The server waited table side for our first cut to make sure they were cooked correctly and the dining room host checked in again to make sure everything was hunky dory. Also, my asparagus was superb. It was fresh, just the right amount of al dente and very flavorful. Wow. Thumbs up by pops for the steak sauce as well. This is a man who says "it's fine" for most everything and this meal elicited quite a few "good"s so it was a definite crowd pleaser. A great place for all but the fancy dining crowd who need candles and tablecloths, this is a great locale with a great story and an amazing store full of all their products.

This place is a MUST visit for anyone who is serious about cooking. If it grows out of the ground and can be milled, they have it. Simply the best selection of grains, flours, beans, spices... Whatever you were looking for they have it! Even for the gluten-free crowd, all sorts of gluten free and nut flours. Pro tip- when you walk into the store, turn left! The bargains at the bulk bins are not to be missed. The pre-packaged goods are anywhere from 20 to 50% more expensive compared to when you scoop your own. I gladly drive clear across portland for this treasure- be sure to check it out. Also as a bonus, right across the street is Dave's Killer Bread. Pick up a loaf or two, or just enjoy the smell!

We've been to Bob's a handful of times now (always for breakfast) and that's the true test. The food is always cooked to perfection of delicious. Well this review is long overdue. I used to work so close that it was dangerous. Now I don't work nearby but don't live that far either so it makes for a good breakfast spot. This place is two parts...one part restaurant and one part store. Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and now dinner. I have been for breakfast and lunch, the dinner menu was added recently and I haven't made it there yet. Breakfast they have staples like biscuits and gravy and French toast. Then they also have spinach and cheese grits or you can have turkey bacon and other healthier options. Biscuits and gravy is pretty good. The biscuit is better than the gravy but it's a good meal. They have all kinds of options for your coffee w breakfast like soy and almond milk for your chai. Lunch is a treat. The soups are excellent- try the corn chowder! The turkey melt is also an honorable mention. Just pick up a menu at the back counter and step up and place your order. Then take your number to your table and a server will be out shortly. Second part is the store. The store has plenty of variety for everyone. Gluten free bread mix- check. Bulk spices-check. Flour, baking essentials, pancake mix- check, check, check. They even have grab and go sandwiches for when you have to run in our your lunch break. Stop and take a look around, have a coffee and a scone!!

I've been here many times for breakfast. The service is always friendly and sometimes a little slow. I'm a pancake fan, but pancakes here are not my favorites. I find them somewhat dry, heavy, and not as tasty as I thought they would be. Otherwise the food is great! Be sure to get the biscuits. The have yummy freezer jam and bring warm real maple syrup if you get the pancakes. Next time I'm going to try the waffles. The best part is shopping, after the meal, at the excellent store. They carry Kobo's loose tea for a great price. Plenty of bulk bins if you need grains, flour, or spices.

A veggie haven in Milwaukie!!!! It just doesn't get better than Bob's! Been many times for breakfast and lunch and it just fires on all cylinders each time. Hard to believe as busy as it gets. Their menu is diverse and offers an array of sandwiches, soups, and hot breakfast and lunch items. Food is standard American fare, but done in a healthy way with more than enough portions to satisfy veggies like me and carnivorous friends. It's nice having grown up in Milwaukie to have a local place like this grow and become so well known. I do a lot of shopping here for stock items in my kitchen. While it's not the cheapest, especially for spices and things like jam and honey, for the most part it's a great value all around. I will keep coming back for the cafe for years to come. Highly consistent, clean, and the employees are all very friendly, helpful, and actually seem glad you are there. You get the feeling they are happy where they work, and not just there for tips, which aren't allowed anyway. Only time I've been a little disappointed was for dinner which is a new one for them. The menu could be a little more diverse, and the food was sort of ho hum for me. Then again, every place trying out a dinner menu at first needs to get over a few bumps, so I'll try it again sometime. I'm still giving this place 5 stars, it deserves it and they work hard to earn a solid reputation. Try Bob's, it's the best!!!!

I always looked forward to eating at the restaurant here because everything has always been good....until now. I ordered a bowl of their "Thursday" soup, Cannellini Bean and Spinach. If what they call these little tiny green flakes, spinach, then I am sorely missing my vege for lunch. And to make sure the beans stood out, they stuck together like glue. What a gloppy mess. I'm not ranking out the entire menu, just this particular recipe.

Not bad - not great - just average. Counter order - they serve you at the table - you clean up after yourself. The biscuits and gravy were hardy in portion - the biscuits were a little dry. The kids plates are great. I will try again.

Man You can't get a better deal for your meal then at Bob's. We eat here often not just because it is conveniently located close to our house, but because it is great made from scratch food from their own ingredients. They just recently started serving dinner and another WOW! you cant even grocery shop and make your dinner for less. So All I have to say is if you have not been to Bob's yet and your looking for a great sit down meal for a great price this is your stop! if your from out of town and happen to be close you will want to move to Oregon! Thank you Bob's Red Mill for being so good!

Ok I'll start by saying I love Bobs products but the restaurant is Disgusting!!! It's reminiscent of a hospital cafeteria all are entrées were overcooked over seasoned and were extremely sloppy. I've had breakfast and dinner here the breakfast is slightly better but they would be better off not using Bobs products because they don't showcase them well.. The dinner was just disgusting its something out of the 70s, sundried tomatoes with over really overcooked chicken gross They need somebody to straighten out the kitchen before Ill go back its a real mess!!

I've been going to Bob's Red Mill for quite a while now. I love that we can buy all their products locally. The bulk bins are great! Lots of info and resources on gluten-free cooking. The cafe is good for breakfast. I've never had lunch or dinner here. Their homemade biscuits are to die for! My personal fave is the eggs with steamed spinach and cheesy grits. Who knew I would like grits!! This time of year it is beautiful to sit outside on the patio with the brook and the weeping willows. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is that I feel that the breakfast prices are a little high...but it has not stopped me from going there!

I can't say enough nice things about Bob Red Mill flours. I've been getting into gluten free baking, therefore, my primary brand for flours and somewhat reasonable prices (if you shop across the border) is this. They have a whole library of flours including corn, black bean and millet flours which are hard to find in reasonable quantities. They also have some gluten free cake mixes as well. Everything that was made from my personally published recipe books in 2012 - 2014 were made using Bob Red Mills gluten free flours. It doesn't surprise me at all that these guys would be located in OR where most alternative food lifestyles on the West Coast is encouraged. Of course they sell regular flours and baking mixes as well. I've been to eateries both here and Portland that serve Bob Red Mills brand.

I love going to BOBs . I have been for breakfast and lunch. I have had the buckwheat pancakes and they are delicious. Everything on the lunch menu is very good too. hey have various gluten free items as well if that what your diet dictates. I can never leave without getting some of their giant cookies for the road. Enjoy!

Bob's Red Mill used to be just a regular store for grains, baked goods, and such in good old Milwaukie, Oregon. Then, when they went into their expanded store with the look of a big red barn, it became an institution, complete with a restaurant. I had only come in here to buy bread, polenta, and some bulk items. I wanted to try out their breakfast, or even some other meal, for which the banner is displayed and visible from either International Way (vapid "Business Park Central") or from the Milwaukie Expressway. I then had their breakfast. There are a lot of items to choose, from healthier fare to more traditional fare, making it either a Main Street USA breakfast joint from a small town in Montana or an in-the-know (read: healthy and cool) sort of metro Portland breakfast place. I couldn't believe how many people were there on a Saturday morning. I think they come from all over the metro area in addition to probably being a regular stomping ground for more local people. Note that they also serve lunch and dinner. The breakfast was very good. There was a mix up on my order, for which both the woman who brought out food and the cashier came to my table and apologized. It was no big deal, really, but they were very concerned about their level of service and gave me a voucher to come back another time, in addition to correcting the gaffe on the breakfast order. Mind you, their employees I've dealt with when purchasing things in the regular part of the store have always been very helpful and courteous, but this really showed their true colors of being a 5 star outfit, especially since they were crowded. For the quality of their goods, their level of service, and their unique niche and motif, Bob's Red Mill Store (and restaurant) gets 5 stars.

June 2015, first visit to Bob's Red Mill in Milwaukie Oregon. Impressed. Had an excellent breakfast of a veggie omelet & tasty bacon ( no longer carry turkey bacon tho). Semi-crowded bit got outdoor table on a warm blue-sky day. Nice! Wide variety of grain items to shop over after the meal. Plus the Marion berry scone was EXCELLENT!! Gonna definitely go back.......

I love this place for brunch. The food is great, ample of space , quick service. They have lot of vegetarian / vegan options. Also like the fact that they have healthy options, ketchup without HFCS , agave soda. The food:- pancakes , omelettes and sandwiches ; simply yummy. They are generous with the vegetables in a veggie omelette. A special shout out to the lady at the counter for helping us with our options.

This is a good inexpensive go-to for basic american favorites. I've been for both breakfast and dinner. You order at the counter and sit either in or outside. Very pleasant staff as well as outside dining area! Look for coupons as well in the coupon books that come in the mail. Very high quality food for the price! Loved it as did our friends that were with us!

Last week I ate here and realized: This is the best place in Milwaukie Best value Service Atmosphere It's a fun experience It's rare to find a gluten free burger meal, so this is a real treat for those of us off wheat!

Great store. But I hate to say that I can't do the restaurant any more. First. If you want a straight forward healthy breakfast, ok. Eggs, turkey bacon, biscuits, grits, pancakes. Don't go looking for foodie attractions. That's not a bad thing. My struggle was with the grits. They're just not of a consistency that I'm used to. It was closer to a loaf of grits than something smooth and pour-able. But I understand Bob's Red Mill is know for their cheese grits. So, take my review more as a warning to grits snobs. The store, however, is great. Before moving to the Portland area I used a lot of Bob's products. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that I moved so close to the headquarters. Maybe I'll buy some grits there and make them at home. :)

I have wanted to visit Bob's red mill restaurant forever and I finally got a chance in the middle of the week. First, I got to meet Bob, himself! super nice guy and he posed for a picture w me; that's good PR, at 7am! Second, I got the veg omelette and it was very very disappointing. the eggs didn't have any favorite and the vegetables looked old. the hash brown and biscuit were very taste as was the coffee. not terrible but not great. (if you like biscuits and gravy, the guys at the next table were crazy about them!) Overall they have a good size breakfast and lunch menu, so i'm going to give them another shot. I so love Bob's Red Mill product. Plus, Bob...it's so awesome!

Very tasty and satisfying. So nice to find a place to go for good food that is healthful and reasonably priced. Good selection for folks with differing dietary practices - vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc, all the way to steak and eggs dishes. They had live music on our recent visit for dinner which was a very nice touch. A bit out of the way for us on this trip, but worth the time to cross the river for a good dinner that was good for us.

I go to Bob's Red Mill whenever I go clear across town to see my dentist. I have their gluten free french toast and bacon and it is wonderful. The cashiers are always friendly and helpful and I can usually find a gluten free treat while I am there.

This is a review on DINNER: We have enjoyed breakfast here many times and decided to check out dinner which has only been going on a few months. We are so glad we did! The dinner menu covers many options from sandwiches and salads you would see at lunch to many new dinner entrees plus a featured dinner and desserts. Prices looked very reasonable. I ordered the Chicken and Biscuits and loved it which came with a (small) salad and was full of good white meat chicken and made with a delicious cream sauce with cheddar biscuits. Loved it!! My husband had the Top Sirloin and it was a good cut of meat cooked well and topped with an herb butter and came with tasty mashed potatoes (other side options available) and vegetables. I have to say we went to a fancy steak house last night and the mashed potatoes were better here (and not and extra $8 to add!). We will definitely be back for dinner on top of breakfasts. *If you haven't been here it has a great outside patio, general store and great for vegetarians and gluten free.

If you're looking for a crowded vegetarian style restaurant with the same ambience you would find while eating at Target this just might be your spot. The options for breakfast are meager. The meat choices are limited to turkey bacon or vegan sausage. They even managed to mix up my order. On the bright side, the credit card receipt does not include a line for a tip which must have been fortuitous.

The people here are super friendly. The quality of the food both in the restaurant and the retail side is phenomenal. I wish Bob's would open up in the Bay Area in California!

I love Bob's Red Mill products & the store is no different. Even though the store is a out of my its worth the extra drive for their wonderful products. Their products are great for cooking and their store makes me feel like I walked into a candy store. There are so many options of things to choose from and I always leave with more than I planned on. This is definitely a place to check out if you are into cooking with amazing ingredients.

The place is cramped! Seems there's more room for the cafeteria than for the shop but I still come out here every few months for the bulk items. The landscaping around the place is pleasant and there is outdoor seating should you choose to eat here. I have only eaten once and it wasn't remarkable but there's always a line to the food so I might try again. I had a pretty good scone my last visit. I should've purchased two.

It was my first time coming here and they earned the 5 stars, my husband and I walked around and looked around and shopped. We got some yummy pastry flower, carob flower, I found the cookbooks!!!:-) I couldn't buy every one I wanted but I got two Bobs Red Mill Cook Book and Bobs Red Mill Baking Book after we loaded our cart with delicious goodies we were hungry so we went to their deli area and got some breakfast. My husband got a veggie omlet with the county potatoes, 2 biscuits, and a small thing of cheese grits. I got the Turkey Ham and cheese omlet with country potatoes, 2 biscuits, and a small thing of cheese grits. I have to say I am totally impressed the omlet hd such wonderful flavor, and it didn't need seasoning it got that from the ham and turkey, the country potatoes had a nice seasoning and the BISCUITS!! Those were O.M.G!!! They were so tasty!:-) the cheese grits well.....I have to admit I don't like grits period lol, but my husband loved them and wanted more lol:-) All in all it was an awesome experience and I am already planning my next trip there lol, they have a lot of stuff that I want to cook and play with:-)

This review will focus on the "restaurant." Note: I wouldn't classify this as a "true" restaurant, given that you're not waited on for every step of the meal... If you're looking to be waited on, this is not the venue for you. As many of you probably know, you order at the counter, and they bring your food out to you. Beverages are self-serve. For a self-serve restaurant, this place is great! The dinners and breakfasts are of excellent quality and quantity. It is rare to see someone not leaving the restaurant with a box of leftovers. This is absolute homestyle cooking. I've tried so far the steak and meatloaf for the two dinners I've been here. Entrees come with a potato (you choose how it's cooked), roll, vegetables, and soup or salad. You won't leave hungry. Breakfasts are equally as filling and remind you of your grandparents cooking. The prices are very reasonable here, especially for the quantity! Breakfasts typically are around $8, and for dinner, the average price would be maybe $11 or $12. My meatloaf cost $11. Prices are kept low probably due to the self-serve nature of the restaurant (don't need to worry about tipping too much...). It can take a while before you get your food, since this place is packed on weekend evenings and mornings. But they seem to work as quickly as possible. I can't complain when a place is good enough to pack a full house! It's very surprising that their seating has not run out. Of all the times I've been here (maybe 8 and during popular hours...), I've never had to wait for a table, even though the upstairs always seemed to be packed...I don't know how they do it! I will definitely be back to try the other dinner entrees (not much of a breakfast person)!

We passed by Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Store purely by chance as we were driving back to our hotel on our last night in Portland. Back home in Texas, we buy Bob's Red Mill brand oat bran and steel cut oatmeal...so we figured why not stop by here and check things out (the $5 Yelp check-in deal was a factor too). The prices turned out to be a bit cheaper than what we'd pay in Texas, but because our suitcase space was limited, we only brought back a few packages of oat bran and oat meal along with one package each of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies and chocolate chip peanut butter cookies. The cookies were massive and were loaded with fresh ingredients and loaded with fat and calories too! They give tours of the Mill daily M-F at 10 AM. The store is open on Saturdays, but no tours on Saturday. And it's completely closed on Sundays.

The food was good, huge portions, and the ingrediants are fresh. The menu is short but are family of five found plenty of choices from basic buttermilk pancakes with bacon to a tufo scramble. The atmosphere is excellent for a casual eating establishment. Wait in a quick line to order and wait staff brings out your food. The dining area overlooking the high ceiling store gives the area a spacious feeling. The store itself is five star for their wide arrange of grains, cereals, etc.

And now dinner too... The local ad mailer provided a coupon of buy one get one free dinner at Bob's Red Mill. We happen to be in the mood for Americana and expected fried chicken, potroast, baked potatoes. Bob's redmill is a grain store and bakery but also serves prepared breakfast lunch and dinners where you order at the counter and take a number back to any open table. They find you later with your food. Pretty informal, so I was wondering how it would stack up for dinner. We ordered the Saturday special, Prime Rib, at 16.95 a plate it seemed kinda high for this sort of place but the coupon of course made it 8.50 a person, served with soup or salad, a bread roll choice such as cheesey roll or cornbread, plus a starchy side and veggies. The salad and roll came out first and it was okay, the bleu cheese dressing was chunky and lettuce spring mix was "peppery" says the wife. The primerib was bigger than we expected, probably 12 oz and perfectly cooked and tender. My mashed potatoes were fine and it the veggies were a beautiful pile of asparagus. We were both pleased with our dinners especially at the low price due to the coupon, though admittedly this is not a dinning experience suitable for a date despite the tasty food. Good times.

We immediate fell in love with Bobs Red Mill. As a very busy and gluten free family we enjoy their variety/options. We can shop, have a meal and even take another meal to go all in the same trip. There are a lot of coupon option and the service is always friendly. if your plan on eating dinner please make sure you get in early they tend to run low on options later in the evening (weekends mostly )

Bob's Red Mill has come a LONG way in the vegan food department. I had a tofu scramble there years ago back when they first started their dining experience and it was awful enough to deter me for years until this past spring. Holy moley. This place is awesome now. So many gluten-free vegan items and they are so accommodating! I'm a huge fan of their tofu scramble now as well as their cottage potatoes (I love to add Daiya cheese to them for extra heartiness). And they have a vegan sandwich there that tastes like pizza -- I mean like reallly reallly good pizza in sandwich form! I only wish it were bigger, haha... that thing is usually wolfed down pretty fast by me or my boyfriend. Oh, and their vegan pastries are to die for. We got some cinnamon rolls... whoaaaa... take those home and throw them in the microwave and you got some of the best buns out there. I'm accustomed to amazing vegan pastries, but I know any skeptical could never tell they were vegan pastries, I swear. And the shopping is great too -- they have these powdery spice shakers by the windows that mimic the taste of chicken and beef (called "Chick'n" and "Beaf" I believe) that are amazing to cook with. They add such wonderful flavor to potatoes, tofu, anything (I swear that's not all I eat). The soy curl prices here are great too. I always end up being seduced by the food if I go here to shop. I highly recommend it here. Oh, and if you're sitting downstairs and lucky, Bob himself will sit down with you for a friendly little chat.

I have been hearing from our friends about the food at Bob's. Last night my wife and I strolled in to give it a try. You have to order your food from a counter then go sit and someone brings it out to you. As I'm not a fan of confusing restaurants this is clearly the way they do things around here and it makes things easy I suppose. We both ordered the special of the day which was "Grilled Flank Steak with caramelize onion sauce served with cup of soup or salad and your choice of one side, daily vegetable and bread. $11.95" They have coupons all the time in our local newspaper and mailbox. Of course I forgot to bring it. We had not long chosen a seat and a friendly waitress brought us our drinks and salads. WOW, fast! Last night they had live piano playing. It was nice and It looked as though the older crowd of folks frequented the place. Within a few songs they were all signing along and having a great time. We sat a ways away as we could have our privacy and the music wasn't overpowering (although I don't think if we were closer it would have been bad). Dinner arrived next. That was a ton of food for $11.95 and it tasted even better than it looked. Very very good. Although my wife and I both agreed it would be just as good without the gravy on top it was fantastic. We ordered ours with couscous and green beans. My only complaint is the parking. Its really not good. Service was great! The food was better! Value is unbelievable! We will be back! I can't wait to try the Prime Rib on Saturday.

We were looking forward to having breakfast in their cafe but alas it wasn't meant to be. They are in the midst of a major kitchen and store remodeling so all they were serving was hot drinks, granola, oatmeal and a few other items. Their store is chock full of every possible grain, pancake mix, bread mixes, hot cereals, flours, an entire line of gluten free items, many organic items, and way more than my teeny brain can remember. What I love the most are their bag clips which come in two sizes . They are perfect for closing anything that comes in a bag from chips to frozen veggies to flours to actually anything tat you want to close like those ornery cereal inside wrappers. I bought many--staleness is one of my biggest food enemies. There are also cookbooks, recipes, and bulk items. If I lived in the area I would totally stock up on flours and grains and have fun cruising up and doe the aisles for an hour or two. They have a mail order catalog. I'm also happy to see that several markets in the greater Bay Area feature their products.

92% Awesome. Good breakfasts. Phenomenal PRIME RIB! Great salads with superb dressing. Unpalatable sirloin! -took one bite, yuk both taste and texture. Great mashed potatoes and other sides. They came around and asked if I wanted a box for the steak that I did not eat. The whole steak was on the plate, minus one chewed and expelled bite on the side of the plate. I thought it was hilarious, I told him no thank you, you can keep it. That was that..

Not much to tell you in a review here. Simply put, if you think Bob's Red Mill products are awesome, you will LOVE this place. Every BRM product available at better prices than you will find anywhere else, PLUS an entire bulk section for even more money saving whole grain goodness. And they have a deli.

This is a review by a vegetarian As a lacto-ovo-carbivore hobbiest baker you'd think this would be my nirvana. I thought it'd be my nirvana. Instead it was my Courtney Love Store: It's great for selection. They have every single Bob's Red Mill SKU out in a pretty well organized way. But the prices are not discounted in any way. If you're Amazon Prime or live near a Fred Meyers you can get most of this for the same money Restaurant: They seem to have a misplaced my order. Then an observant runner asked if I was still waiting for food. Then my French Toast arrived a few minutes later. It was terrible. French Toast is supposed to be dried or desiccated bread soaked in a egg-based custard and then fried in a pan (sometime finished in an oven). It is NOT butter-toasted bread put into a pan with a fried egg. None of the inside of this bread had been permeated by the custard. It was just dry bread inside with eggy-ness on the outside. Finished 1 of 3 pieces then left. Unlike other 2-stars I may give this place another chance since there are so many options but only in the rare of event of having it on my route.

Had a great lunch here. They have gluten free bread and make great sandwiches. I had the special which was turkey spinach sun dried tomatoes and cheese grilled together. We even met bob who was checking in on things and gave us 4 free cookies for the kids. I bought tons of bulk stuff and saved some money on it too.

Vast store stocked with the full complement of Bob's Red Mill products. I have never seen so many in one place before! We weren't in time for the tour but I will absolutely be taking it next time. Random side note - this place is sort of the old folks hangout in town which cracked me up.

FANTASTIC store! I didn't realize how many products that Bob's packages. Holy Moly! If you need Gluten Free flours... this is the place to come. And they have all sorts of grains and beans and soup mixes and bread mixes and pastas and ... and... and.... AND... there's a restaurant. You place your order at the counter and find a place to sit. We sat upstairs and they found us! So many yummy things on the menu. We really enjoyed the White Bean Chicken Soup. So hearty and good. Their sandwiches are big and filling too. They also have some yummy looking pastries too. I didn't get to enjoy those but they look pretty darn tasty. We did pick up some cookies to-go. They were big and lived up to expectations of being the perfect goodie while running around sight seeing. When I'm back in the area, I will definitely be back. Thankfully, all their packaged goods are available for order on-line so I don't have to lug it home in my suitcase.

I didn't expect it to be cafe style which in and of itself wasn't that bad. The food was nothing special but the prices were pretty cheap. I had the Biscuits and Gravy and while the portions were large the gravy itself was pretty bland. It did have huge chunks of meat in it which was nice, though.

Every time I come here, I wonder why I don't come more often. Great combination market and restaurant. You can even see the Mill! An Oregon company offering amazing organic and healthy options, so it gets a major thumbs up in my book. Some of their products are available at other stores, like Freddie's, but the selection here is fantastic. If you have any gluten or other food sensitivities, this place can't be missed. Who knew there were so many varieties of grains? Love their website and they offer lots of interesting recipes. I like to go for breakfast, place my order, then do some shopping. The pancakes are good, but I don't understand why they are closed on Sunday (hence the four star rating). **Update May 1, 2008. Just went to the Grand Opening of their new manufacturing facility and I was so impressed. Bob was there and incredibly gracious. He posed for a photo with my son and even played the piano. What a renaissance man. I love to see the founder stand behind his product. Upgraded to five stars!

Before moving to Beaverton, I actually consumed Bob's Red Mill products so imagine my enthusiasm when I learned they were local. I grabbed my coupons from the Chinook Book (there are two of them: BOGO free breakfast and BOGO free product) and headed for a tour of the factory and the general store. Got to the general store and realized that my buy one get one free breakfast was only valid Mon-Thu (looks like i'll be returning). I had a pretty decent veggie omelet with hash browns and fresh baked biscuit. The biscuit was amazing! Throw on some butter and honey and it's pure heaven (oh, and they give you two of them!!). The omelet was tasty as were the hash browns. When it comes to shopping the aisles for Bob's Red Mill products I have a suggestion: ask for help. If you are hunting for something in particular, you won't find it. It's really difficult to pick out a package when they all look the same....just sayin'. We didn't get to do the factory tour this go 'round so we will definitely be back but keep in mind that the factory tour is at a different address a couple of miles away. Oh AND, the Healthy Bread Store is directly across the street where you can get fresh from the factory Dave's Killer Bread (there's another BOGO coupon in Chinook for this as well).

I love Bob's Red Mill! And I love the big red barn! They have an amazing bulk grains/flour/legumes etc section, and a ton of hearty whole grain offerings, my favorite being their hot cereal options. They also have a good selection of baking related books and kitchen tools, a good place to visit for gifts for the baker in your life. Also, if you come early, eat breakfast here, as they have good prices (often coupons in local papers also) and really delicious "farm fresh" but not greasy traditional breakfasts. I don't think they serve pork or red meat though, only veggie or turkey bacon, sausage, or ham. But it is great and it's a cute farm cafe type atmosphere. Also, if you want to make the most amazing carrot cake ever, go to the website or buy the cookbook for the carrot cake and cream cheese frosting recipes... they are to die for! Oh, and as of this year, Bob handed over the mill to his employees and it is employee owned! Just one more reason to love this place :)

I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. Healthy breakfast and lunch. Gluten free mixes. Grains, nuts, spices...You can get a lot of awesome stuff here! I recently came in to pick up some gluten free shortbread cookie mix so I can make some GF treats for my GF family members. And if you aren't GF, hop across the street when you're done to pick up some Dave's Killer Bread!

I think this is as good as it gets anywhere near Portland. Prices are affordable. Anything in bulk from Bob's mill. Not much dried fruit or nuts but meets all my baking needs + there is a nice selection of milks and butters to choice from, Raw coconut oil, rice, beans. This place also has a great menu for breakfast and lunch. Definitely worth a visit.

One of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots in Portland! The food is delicious and fresh. My favorite breakfast item is the vegetarian biscuits and gravy. Great spot if you are looking for a classic style breakfast spot. The food options are good, classic breakfast options but not covered in grease like some other places.

My review is an average of 3 stars for the cafe and 5 stars for the store. Bob's Red Mill is employee owned and a lovely little place to shop. You can find every BRM product made here. They sell every grain imaginable, hot cereals, soup mixes, pancake mixes, baking mixes and beans/legumes. They sell items in pre-packaged and bulk forms. The cafe has a number of vegetarian and a few vegan options. Items are clearly marked. On this visit, I had the chili and a 10 grain roll (vegan), which was average enough but nothing I would crave ordering. It was pretty bland. I used my buy one BRM item get one free Chinook Book coupon in the store and also bought some locally made boysenberry jam. I definitely need to remember to come back here more often to stock up on my basic grains and beans/legumes.

Hands down one of my favorite places to go while visiting Portland. A ton of unique products and a great cafe. The products are generally baking items, but not just cake and brownie mixs. They also sell breakfast cereals and other grains. All of their products are organic. The cafe has a breakfast and lunch menu, although I have only had their breakfast. Typical cafe options, but no pork products. The bacon is turkey and sausage is veggie (I believe). Prices are reasonable for both products and cafe.

A little hectic and busy for my taste, but breakfast was phenomenal. Highly suggest getting the cornmeal grits with cheddar. The biscuits, pancakes, and eggs were all perfection. Plus, Bob sat down behind us and we got to meet him and his wife!

The thing I love the most about this place is the bulk bins. Sometimes I want to try something but I'm not excited about shelling out a ton of money, just to realize I don't like the product. The bulk bins eliminate this problem! I usually end up buying a package after trying some of the bulk product but it's nice to know it's an option. It also helps cut down on waste, especially if I'm only using the product once or twice. The food is pretty good, though I haven't eaten there since becoming gluten-free. Last time I was there for breakfast I actually saw Bob himself eating breakfast at the next table. That was kinda neat since usually the owners of places hide out in the back or aren't even there. I highly recommend the tour also. It was informative and pretty fun.

This place is PURE Portland in terms of how over the top, down home and old fashioned the whole darn production is. I love the seven grain, the omlets and the french toast...it is like getting to picnic inside your grandparent's house while sitting in the middle of the coolest "hippy food store". If you have ever eaten one of their supermarket products and are in town, just roll the di and do this one!

I am gluten intolerant and vegan and I feel SO incredibly fortunate to have this fantastic resource just minutes away from where I work. I can drive here on a Saturday morning, eat a delicious, vegan, and gluten-free breakfast, and still make it to work on time. The restaurant has delicious food, and a great selection of dishes. There is even an entirely veg menu, which is great for people like me, and gluten-free options abound for almost every single dish. Prices are really reasonable, and you can often score a coupon from the newspaper or a Chinook Book if you are really counting pennies. The store itself is magnificent. The bulk aisles are clearly marked as to gluten-free ingredients and not, and there is also a great cookbook section, featuring alternative diets and allergy-free baking. I have yet to take a cooking class, but the choices look great, too, and I hope someday I will have the time to take the opportunity. This is a fantastic gem in an otherwise unremarkable part of the city, and definitely worth the drive.

Like having breakfast at the Grandparent's house... The bread products and breakfast is excellent as you would expect from this product line. You stand a good chance of seeing "Bob" and his having breakfast there on most Saturdays (hey, never pass up a free meal, right Bob?). The food is consistent and pretty good overall.

LOVE the store... but this is review is for the restaurant ONLY. I took my kids out for lunch mid-week after taking a tour of their factory down the road. I was disappointed by the limited kids menu, so they each had a plate of flap jacks ($4.99 each) and I tried their french dip ($8). We waited nearly 20 minutes and the food was mediocre at best. After spending almost $25 on lunch for three kids and myself, I had high hopes... The pancakes were OK (not great) and the sandwich was terrible. We'll go back to shop in the store, but won't be eating here again anytime soon! PS... I'm guessing their breakfast is better, given how good their steel cut oats are!

This is a great place for a tasty and healthy breakfast. I am a naturopathic physician and I send my patients here for not only the gluten free baking items, but also for the restaurant that serves a healthy and tasty breakfast (and lunch). You can choose from the traditional egg omlettes and pancakes, vegetarian options, and, most importantly for me and my patients, gluten free options. (Its not completely 100% gluten free because they make their breakfast items in a kitchen that is also preparing gluten-containing meals.) There are not a lot of places in the Portland Metro area to get a gluten-free meal, and its even harder to find a gluten-free breakfast, but Bob's Red Mill is a great option. Regardless of what dietary option you choose, the food is very tasty, in a reasonable quantity, and healthy. One of my favorites is a breakfast that comes with two eggs, a bowl of steamed spinach, cheese and grits, and gluten free toast. Now that's a yummy, and healthy breakfast that lasts long into the afternoon! The only drawback to this place is how busy it can get on the weekends. I have had to wait a good 30 minutes after I've ordered to get my food. One way around the wait is to get there early. The restaurant does open at 6:30am if you want to beat the crowds.

I'm on the fence about this place. I love that they are super healthy and have a place you can shop while you wait for your food. I like that they have a vegetarian and vegan menu. I like that they have healthy choices. I like their food well-enough ... it's just kinda "run of the mill" (pun intended). But I'm not crazy about the cafeteria feel. Waiting in line to place your order, then sitting at your table til they bring your food. I feel like I'm at a truck stop while driving across the country. Hubby really likes it and so we keep going back. I like it enough to keep going back ... cuz I like a happy hubby.

As a market, this place is the bomb. Any grain you want, you will probably find here. I buy a few types of oatmeal here and have them pretty much every morning at home (never use to like oatmeal.) The sandwiches are good as well. But the breakfast was pretty disappointing. Maybe they are trying to be too healthy, but If I wanted a breakfast that tasted that bad, I'd make it myself :) I'm still giving it a 4-star because overall, it's a great place, and worth visiting. Too bad they are not open on sundays.

I can spend hours in this place. I got some incredible spices, as well as some yummy baking mixes here. The staff was friendly and their was no lack of variety. Next time, I will have to try their cafe.

I have been to Bob's red Mill twice and have to say......*I love Bob's Red Mill*. There customer service is top notch....both times I saw Bob himself walking around greeting people.....the employees are super friendly and aim to please. The retail store is fun to browse....who knew there were so many BRM products?! Their bakery chocolate chip cookies are like crack.....they are huge, delicious and addictive. Breakfast is fantastic (can't wait to go back again), fresh & wholesome....generous portions too!

This lovely little slice o' whole grain heaven was definitely the highlight of our Oregon trip this year (for mama anyway). I've always loved Bob's Red Mill products -- I frequently refer to Bob as "my boyfriend," is that wrong? -- and this was like Bobtopia! I was able to score all sorts of products you can't find in grocery stores back in Cali. The bake mixes? Divine. The spicy hot cereal? Delish. And the homemade strawberry shortcake served on a freshly-baked flax biscuit I had for lunch? Oh my Lord, it was too good. I can't even speak of it. Man, oh, man. This place is pure tasty health food NIRVANA.

Very good breakfast. We went with two kiddos and they devoured their pancakes in record time. I would absolutely recommend the grits and the homemade biscuits. Extremely reasonably priced meal. And then when you're done with breakfast, you can buy nearly any kind of baking supplies you need at a great price. We wish we lived in Portland so we could take advantage of it more often.

This place is cool. I've been a fan of their grocery stuffs for a long time and stumbled upon the store... and what a find. There's a gigantic water wheel out front, a store, a cafe, all in a big, inviting space with two levels and an outside seating area. Not only can you find Bob's flour, grains and other products but also unique, European kitchen tools & appliances, cookbooks and a HUGE bulk section. Oh, and the bakery... (try the Spelt Cookies). The staff are down-to-earth, the cafe has some mean sandwiches and the whole experience is unique, fun and different. If you get a chance to check it out, do it! Its not far from Clackamas Mall and there's a ton of parking. You can bike from inner SE using 52nd, Flavel/Harmony Rd. Bring your appetite!

I've been a customer of Bob's for longer than I can remember. In second grade, my Girl Scout troop went there on a field trip, back when it really was a red mill. I took a couple cooking classes at their previous location. And the whole family took a tour of the new warehouse a couple months ago. My very picky daughter loves to go to Bob's and eat pancakes, watch the water wheel, and nibble the peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. I love to shop the bulk bins, and every suggestion I've ever left has been followed up with a phone call. The only negative comment I have about BRM is that it's a bit pricey. But if that's the cost of supporting a local, customer-focused business that strives to meet the needs of diners nation wide, I'll pay it. And I pay it regularly.

Oh how i love this place! We stopped by here on our road trip, going out of our way because "I had to go". I was so happy to be in this delightful place. Our breakfast was amazing, the store was great. I did not have a chance to shop boohoo. We all left with full belly's and a happy feeling about BRM:)

This place is the BEST! I love going to Bob's Red Mill for breakfast. The food is so very tasty! I also cook a lot and you cannot beat the quality of BRM products. They sell so many things. You can save a ton of money buying in bulk and as I said the quality of everything is exceptional! I buy flour(s), dried beans, nuts, dried fruit, cornmeal, the list goes on and on. The organic whole wheat pastry flour is the best, I use it for practically everything I bake. You can't miss going here, there is something for everyone. Also, the people who work at BRM are super friendly and helpful. I have also seen Bob himself having breakfast a few times.

Love Bob's! I've only had lunch here, the sandwiches are first rate though. I also love the multigrain chips that come with all the sandwiches, so delicious! Try sitting out on the patio when the weather is nice, it's a beautiful setting with healthy and tasty food.

Great place to go with kids - ample parking, wide aisles for strollers, doors open automatically, plenty of high chairs and booster seats, ambient noise is loud enough to keep people from being easily annoyed by minor kid noise, you don't have to wait for a table, no time pressure to leave. This is where I go for breakfast if it's just me and my toddler. Plus they serve breakfast until 3PM on Saturday. I love the biscuits and also the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. You order from a window (stroller accessible), pick up a number and find your own seat. Some things you can get immediately, like yogurt, scones & juice (i.e., enough to hold a toddler over until the full order gets to the table).

i expected the prices here to reflect that i was buying from the source, but the reality is they are just as high as the retailers'. the one difference though is that i can buy things in 25 lb bags, which in the long run is less expensive. the day i was here the 25 lb gluten-free baking mix was $10 off, so i got it for about $1 / lb. super price! i also had breakfast at the cafe, which was ok. very basic options but they do offer gluten-free toast which was a nice treat. they also have a vegan tofu scramble.

Bob's Red Mill has everything!! Although not to be confused with Red Mill in Seattle. (some of the best burgers!!) Anyway, BRM has all of the whole grains, baking supplies, bulk foods for every single thing you can think of, organic or not. The also serve breakfast and lunch. The open at 6am on weekdays and 7 on saturdays. Closed on Sun. Their website and phone do not have a message that states this. Not sure what time they stop serving. But, went there for breakfast for the first time. It was really good, although a little expensive for breakfast. I had the breakfast sandwich which had 2 eggs, turkey ham, cheese on whole wheat toast. It came with cheese grits. I love grits! My husband had the belgian waffle with eggs. We both enjoyed it. The seating is abundant with some outside seating as well. They can also do fried grits if you like that. Here's to Joe!!!

Bob's Red Mill is a great place to get nice stone ground goodness, unlike a lot of other mills apparently, that use machines instead of the old-timey stone mills. The best part about this place is probably the abundance of whole grain products to specialty baking needs, ranging from special bread and pastry flours to heaping jugs of sorghum. They sell their own baked goods, which I haven't tried, but they also sell pretty much any ingredient you need to make almost any baked good you need, although they lack golden syrup for anzac biscuits. The breakfast/lunch stand is cafeteria style, which isn't bad since they have most of two floors for ample seating. Since they grind their own grains, the pancake/waffles/bread for sandwiches is probably the best you'll find anywhere. I had the belgian waffle and it was perhaps the best I've ever had, and after a 10yr hiatus of eating that crap doused in maple syrup before sipping the syrup straight, I'm ecstatic to say that I can do it again without feeling fattie guilt since they're made of whole grains, purportedly great for you. Everything in moderation of course. Their turkey bacon is pretty tasty while their breakfast sausage is also nicely spiced. The biscuits were also well done as you could expect, although it would have been nice to have fresher jam than the jam in those little plastic tubs, but I suppose this is a mill and not a preserve factory. All in all, if you bake anything from bread to pastries, this is definitely the place to start. Breakfast, shopping, lunch, and you can get to it.

I try to wait until I've gone to a place twice before reviewing, but I both ate at the cafe and shopped at the store, so I say that's close enough. On my way back from an exhausting and generally obnoxious meeting in Oregon City, I stopped by here for lunch. I was impressed by cheap prices, a whole separate menu for veg-heads (!), and very quick service. I ordered a mexican mocha and bread bowl containing vegan white bean soup. Both came out quickly and were delicious. Bread bowls are a rare treat for me, but this was no ordinary bread bowl. Instead of being made of the standard doughy french bread (which is also good in it's own right), it was made of yummy hearty whole grain bread. The soup was really good, too. On to the store- oh the options! What variety! There was not a shelf but an entire aisle deticated to gluten free stuff, a whole side of an aisle for hot cereal, every type of sweetener you can imagine, an extensive nutrition and cookbook section, flours, spices, and pasta, oh my! The staff there were very friendly and helpful. There was a woman who just wandered around being helpful to people who looked confused, or in my case, slightly overwhelmed. Needless to say I momentarily lost control and left with more purchases than I intended, but I left a happy girl. I'm excited to return.

Just had breakfast here... Hubby had cheesy fried grits and eggs he said it was pretty darn good... I had buttermilk pancakes the healthy kind.. They were dense and firm.. I like the fluffy unhealthy kind better.. Sorry, but if I'm eating carbs ... I want fluffy.. The people were nice and the coffee hot.. The store is big and has so many choices for gluten free, whole grain, and vegan products... We bought some handy soup mixes to take home and some fresh ground peanut butter ... SCORE!!! ALSO YOU CAN TOUR THE FACTORY.. SO... BONUS IF YOU HAVE KIDS

The atmosphere is what keeps me coming back. It's relaxed and friendly and spacious. I LOVE the cheesy grits and have found nothing even close to their creamy perfection ANYWHERE in Portland. My second favorite item is the breakfast sandwich. It is big and tasty and very reasonably priced. Thanks, Bob, for the delicious breakfast, lunch, and NOW dinner!

Breakfast was good. They don't serve caffeinated drinks so if you need that morning boost you better BYOB! The grain store has really good deals on large bags of flour. You won't find a cheaper local place to get gluten-free products in bulk. The restaurant gets a 4 and the store gets a 5.

Cool place. Went here for lunch during the weekday. Took advantage of the sunny day and ate outside in their roomy patio. I had the Reuben which was great. It came with whole grain tortilla chips and carrots. Didn't have enough time to cruise around the store, but definitely want to come back to go through the bulk foods.

who knew?! Tucked away in an unassuming business park in a bucolic suburb off a nondescript state highway, there is a mecca of all things Bob's Red Mill. Sure, you've seen lots of it in some hippie grocery co-op or another, but the sheer volume of options available right here at the source are at once awesome and overwhelming. Luckily, if you become paralyzed with indecision for so long that hunger sets in, well they've got that covered as well. Bob's runs a breakfast and lunch cafe that will hook you up. You order at the aptly signed "Order Here" window, grab a number, and find yourself a table on the main floor, or upstairs. Your food will be delivered to you as soon as it is ready. The fried grits are not to be missed. There is also a daily selection of pastries that beckon. On my recent visit, I enjoyed a fresh turkey sandwich and cup of tomato basil soup. Everything was fresh and quick. Plus the whole place is decked out for Christmas (irrelevant if you're reading this in the Spring or Summer). Once refueled, you may again return to the grains store to stock up all things Bob's. You never know when you may immediately require a 7-bean soup mixture or some almond flour or even regular bread flour in a 50 lb sack.

Heaven on earth. Period. Literally the greatest selection of quality grains and pulses one could dream of. Of course, some non-native pulses are more expensive than what you'd get from a ethnic grocery store, but that didn't stop me! Happy times. Couldn't ask for more.. We also had dinner there and it was nice of Bob to stop by our table to check on us.

We *loved* the Bob's Red Mill tour down the road at the factory. The employees obviously love Bob and their jobs, which was refreshing. We also loved being overwhelmed by all the Bob's products in the company store. It pains me to admit that the food wasn't that great. I don't even remember what I got, but I think I may have ordered the wrong thing. It was quite bland. The baked potatoes and soups looked really tasty, as did breakfast items (I got a lunch item) if I went back I'd get those.

  • Katie S.

We stopped in for breakfast thinking they'd likely have Bob's steel cut oats and maybe some whole grain bread choices, but we were quite surprised to discover the menu included omelets, waffles, pancakes, steak and eggs and so on. The parking was awful, but the experience is fun. You go to a counter to order and then choose a seat either at floor level or up above. We sat up above giving us a nice view of the store while people shopped below us. It was a quaint place and we enjoyed ourselves and our morning. In fact, I'd have given this a five star rating except for one main thing - the food was just so/so. Supposedly my omelet had cheese inside, but it was tough to find more than a shred here and there, and the bottom of the eggs were brown and overcooked leaving me unable to eat the underside of the omelet. The hash browns were home made and they were great once I added a few shakes of salt and pepper. My husband ordered the steak and eggs and he fared a bit better than I. This left us with the impression that it is a bit hit and miss on the food items. We liked it enough to give it a try again though - maybe for lunch this time.

I had their turkey Reuben special and a cup of their white bean chicken soup. Everything was delicious and I'd definitely return again. It's a walk up counter order and then they deliver to your table. The option to sit outside was nice and the staff are friendly. I enjoyed having some healthy options with my sandwich-tortilla chips, carrot sticks, and a yummy pickle!

Great store!! The restaurant part is amazing too! Healthy and guilt free! I came here for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious. They have quite the selection, and the staff were very friendly. You can head upstairs to find yourself a table, and that's exactly what we did. Its obviously a store mainly, and they have/carry a lot of great products, and healthy substitutions for every day cooking.

If you were to ask me what my favorite restaurant is I'd say Bob's Red Mill!!! The food is FANTASTIC. The staff are wonderful. And it is very very clean. The price is not bad for the quality and healthy food you get. Bob is a great guy with a big heart. You guys must try this place out. It's also a store so you can shop before or after your meal. A must try. Happy eating

We buy Bob's stuff at the supermarkets where we shop so I was pretty well-disposed to this place before I ate there. Until then the worst cooking I had ever encountered was at my junior high school cafeteria at a British restaurant years ago and in a hospital, but Bob's was worse. Yes, worse than hospital food. I had the turkey dinner. Wretched, tasteless, cardboard turkey. I don't know what of it they prepare there or elsewhere, or in advance, or how they buy or prepare or store anything, but it seemed to have been boiled until tasteless and then frozen and microwaved. Some of the food was still cold. The mashed potatoes were like Dr. Frankenstein's first experiment with dried potato powder - ugh, the stuffing was the cereal equivalent of 'by-products', and the 'daily vegetable' was just pale green mush in solid form. If I weren't limited here to 1-5 stars I would rate Bob's at zero or less. Skip Bob's, drive on.

Ordered lunch for my office and while the sandwiches that they did get correct were good according to my colleagues. (Reuben, Philly, and French Dip) I had the soup and salad lunch. My salad was big but when I asked what came in the salad they neglected to tell me it had olives :-0. The main issue is when our lunches came none of them had the sides, or anything else but the main dish. When we contacted them regarding this they said that they could comp. one dish, but that left 5 other hungry unhappy people.......Not happy and would advise others to avoid or at least check your order before you leave because little to nothing will be done.

Horrible experience last night. We were lost trying to get out of portland and ended up here to eat. The menu didn't have a lot of variety for sides my friend asked for a Pepsi and was given a cup and paid before we were told it wasn't actual soda but weird healthy soda. I enjoyed mine but my friends wouldn't have bought a drink had they known. I wasn't given any side options with my order and received these weird horrible chips that ranch didn't even help the taste. My friend found a bone in her chicken and biscuits that she was sharing with her 18 month old baby! They were only slightly apologetic and replaced it with a cheaper item on the menu without reimbursing the extra money. The wait was super long and the place was empty

  • Bruce W.

We like shopping for the grains but will probably pass on breakfast in future; the quality control is not there. It may have a little to do with how busy they are. Couple months ago we had pancakes that were so-so, with eggs on the side that were overdone. This time (a week ago) we both had the veggie omelet, with hash browns (me) and diced taters (her) on the side. Both types of tater were VERY dry (I had to add ketsup!) and diced were over-done. But the omelet was especially sad with icy cold veggies inside a very bland omelet with no cheese on top. But the scones and pastries were very good. Next time we'll just take a scone to go.

On Friday, January 31st, 2014, I had my first experience with Bob's Red Mill Old Country Style Muesli. I purchased a package at Costco where I live, in Fountain Valley, California. I have never been to their store in Milwaukie, Oregon. Furthermore, I have no prior association or knowledge of this company, it's products, or it's owners. This is a totally objective and non-biased opinion of my findings about this product. When I saw the clear, simple, nearly 100% see-through packaging, I knew I had to try it. You can clearly see exactly what you're getting, which I really liked. Bob doesn't need to hide behind fancy packaging to present his product. I enjoyed a bowl of Muesli with 2% milk, for my first experience. It was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. Very fresh, with natural oats, raisins, and other nutritious grains. The best word I can use to describe this wonderful product is AUTHENTIC. It tastes great, too! If you want a real, healthy, natural cereal with fresth, top-notch ingredients, Bob's Red Mill is the way to go. I hope that the marketing reach of Costco allows the whole country to discover this amazing product!!!!!!

It's under construction right now. If you like Bob's Red Mill then this is the place for you. They have things that many local stores don't carry. So if your looking for that odd flour that they make but can't find, this is the place to get it.

Sue and I came out here to eat on Saturday morning. Sue had been here many times, but this was my first time. This place gets packed on the weekends. I'm sure you already know that. You aren't going to get a major gourmet breakfast here. It is an eggs and bacon kind of place, but most everything is very affordable. There were a lot of families with small children on the day we were here. It is a good place because the food is pretty good and the prices are pretty great. I had a pretty basic breakfast with 2 eggs (over easy for me), hash browns, cheese grits and 2 biscuits. The biscuits which are made here were killer. The food took about 20 or so minutes to get to our table, but that was just fine. They said it would take closer to 30 minutes. Aside from breakfast, you also come for the store. I took home 3 big bags of various things (whole wheat flower, rolled oats, etc.) as well as some vitamins. I had a coupon and ended up getting out the door for under $15. Prices here are much better than you find at Fred Meyer's. That is what will bring me back.

We got to meet Bob!!!! There, now that I've got that out I'll go on about our awesome experience. Take the tour, it's fun and you'll learn a few things. I particularly liked the newspaper articles hung along the walls. The food in the cafe is thoughtfully prepared and delish! The staff was very friendly and the kids LOVED running around outside by the water features. Outside seating is great on a sunny day.

What fun. I've been buying and ordering stuff from Bob's Red Mill for a couple of decades -- and it's always great product. And -- they were early to pick up on making a quality line of gluten free products that according to family -- are exceptional additions to the kitchen. But the mill itself was such fun! It is exactly as pictured on the boxes and bags -- it's a Big RED Mill! And inside are kitchen gadgets, soup beans, bread flour, fresh-made cookies, and a walk-up lunch counter that will roll your socks down. I had a baked sweet potato with butter and brown sugar and a cup of fresh fruit in mid-winter! Loaves of fresh bread are 2.50 each, and HUGE 25 and 50lb bags of their products are lined up on the shelves like feed sacks in a country store. The cafe has a spacious seating area -- so you don't feel crowded or rushed -- and the parking lot is full and over-flowing constantly*. What a great place to visit -- and what an exceptionally well run and well cared for company! The owner-employees and ol' Bob have done themselves proud! *Note to handicapped visitors -- as you drive up the road, it will look like the place is so packed with customers' and employee cars that you won't be able to get close enough -- but be sure to drive into the lot by the front door. I found plenty of H-parking, and everyone is very considerate.

Literally one of my favorite breakfast spots! I come here at least once a week. The people here are great, and their food is amazing. But out of their menu, their scratch biscuits are INCREDIBLE!!!! No matter what I order, I always order some scratch biscuits on the side and pair it with some strawberry jelly, simply perfection. Their food is well made, fresh, and delicious, and all at an extremely reasonable price. They also just remodeled their restaurant portion of the store. So they are also open for dinner now. Its such an amazing place to eat, I dont think I'll ever stop coming here. PS- their biscuits and gravy are also amazing. Some of the best around!

When we lived in Sellwood ( sniffle), we used to come eat breakfast here all the time on Saturdays. It was decent. ( not the coffee so much, but the grainy pancakes and eggs). Plus, we'd see Bob. He looks just like he does on the package. Sometimes, he'd have his dog and extended family members with him and he would shake our hands. Nice. Now we bop over for bags of polenta and baking supplies, and chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. They are the bomb. Some stores sell Bob's baking supplies for quite a markup ( hello Whole Paycheck). So we tend to price them at Bob's and then decide where we will regularly purchase our oats and almond flour, etc. I like BEING at Bob's, with the mill stones and the water wheel out front... it feels like I'm doing something good for my family buying our stuff there. Oh, and they have a nice cookbook section, and they sell spices.

It was really amazing to see the collection of goods they produce and sell. The food there was okay and it was also interesting to see how they make their oats, since that is mainly what i buy from them. Also, I was able to buy Harney & Sons tea from here! I love the hot cinnamon tea and it's sort of hard to find. I'd say skip this Whole Grain Store unless you're sort of into food and where it comes from. Otherwise, it's kind of just a store, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I am admittedly an odd customer for this store. I eat a very small amount of grains, and then only when I am not cooking my own food. That being said, I come here almost every time my dad is in town so he can buy amazing quality flour and other seeds to make his bread with. I personally buy their almond and coconut flours so that I can make my bread-like foods. Their quality is pretty much the best I can find. Their corporate policy seems very good for everyone and I really feel good giving them my business. I think that as the economy in the area gets worse and worse, spendign a little more money to keep business and money local is the only thing that we can do to help.

Their restaurant is delicious and the pickles they gave us as a side to our sandwiches were amazing (so were the sandwiches ha). I also bought a loaf of their potato rosemary bread which was literally the most delicious bread I have ever eaten. I made a grilled cheese with it and some sharp cheddar -- it was actual heaven. I need to go back and buy ten more loaves, not even kidding. Their snickerdoodle cookies were also excellent!

The short version of this review is that Bob's steel cut oatmeal is great. As for the long version.... I've been cooking steel cut oats for breakfast for the last few years. The cooking time is allegedly 30 minutes, but there are various ways to cut corners. My trick is to combine the oats with nearly boiling water at night before I go to bed. When I wake up, the oatmeal is about halfway cooked. The classic brand of steel cut oats is McCann's Old Irish Oatmeal, which is expensive and sold in a vacuum-sealed metal can. It's OK, but I found that I could do a lot better by buying oats in bulk from supermarket plexiglass containers. The oatmeal sold that way is way cheaper than McCann's, and it's often a lot fresher because it doesn't come from Ireland. Things got a lot better when I started buying Trader Joe's brand of steel cut oats. These oats won a taste-off in the San Francisco Chronicle. They're inexpensive, and they're delicious. Curiously, TJ's stocks them right next to the much more expensive McCann's. After tasting the TJ's oats, I swore off the plexiglass stuff and started buying my oatmeal exclusively from the Trader. [Whoops -- I've now found the review, sfgate.com/food/article/… . A whole foods brand came in first; TJ's came in second; Bob's came in *third*. But I still prefer Bob's to TJ's.] That's until I saw 5lb bags of steel cut oatmeal at Costco. I bought a bag and took it home. The oats were from Bob's Red Mill, and they were fantastic. I became a fan instantly. I finished those oats a lot faster than I could ever have imagined and went back to buy a second bag. Great once again. Then I went back for a third bag, only to discover that Costco had switched to the instant version of Bob's steel cut oats. Boo-hoo! I reverted to the TJ's product but also sent a note over to Bob's. They're working with Costco; I'm optimistic that the regular steel cut oats will soon be back at my local Costco here in California.

One of the good things about living in Milwaukie is Bobs Red Mill. Great prices on a ton of flours, grains and baking basics Stop in for breakfast. Try the biscuits and Gravy!

I have been purchasing and consuming Bob's red mill products since the 80s, so I feel as though I grew up with them. I eaten/prepared foods with their cereals, oats, flours, granola, seeds and beans. All are top-notch quality and I am overjoyed that my new local grocery store, Super Fresh, carries them. They also donate to Non-profit organizations and in general, are a company that helps to make the world a better place. Start off with the FAQ section on their official website, you'll be glad you did.

Not only can you buy commercial size products and products you may not find at the local store, there is a HUGE vegan menu - they have expanded their kitchen and do breakfast, lunch and dinner. Take note they are closed on Sundays. Try the outdoor seating - it's great. Love the vegan waffles, and don't miss their pastry cases full of vegan yumminess - the bag of oversized wheat free vegan cookies never makes it home...

For all the foodie places around Portland, my favorite place for brunch is Bob's Red Mill. The prices are low, the portions are large and the quality, unparalleled. Service is good and I always like looking at bulk bin items and talking about what to make with all the packaged stuff I never buy. Whenever I feel a little under the weather which is about every two weeks I crave their cheesy corn grits.

This place is so good that when my parents were here for a six day vacation they chose to eat breakfast here not once, but TWICE (and yes, they were only here for six days). Then again, they ship 25 lb bags of Bob's cereal to their home back East at least once a year. My Dad ordered the flapjacks, and wanted to try one of each (buttermilk, buckwheat, and 12 grain?) and they accidentally made 3 buttermilk flapjacks. What did they do? Well, they brought him the 3 buttermilk flapjacks and promptly told him they had goofed up and the other two were on the way, but they gave him 3 buttermilks anyway. Now THAT is customer service. My Mom had the cheesey grits and really enjoyed them - but a little cup of them seems to come with most breakfast meals, so unless you want a big bowl of them, you'll probably get them anyways. I had the french toast, which was huge and quite tasty, but I preferred the buttermilk flapjacks. I think I prefer pancakes in general (instead of french toast) so please try out their french toast if you like french toast, it was pretty tasty. I got a side of scrambled eggs and even the scrambled eggs were good! And as someone else stated - every day THE Bob is in town, he eats breakfast here. Now if that's not an indicator of excellence...I don't know what is. My parents saw him while they were eating breakfast there (for the second time on their trip). The only reason for the four star review is that they do not have real bacon. My boyfriend was soooo upset to learn this fact, he's pretty set in his ways and not willing to test out turkey bacon (I think that was the only bacon option there). But as I said - that is the ONLY reason, stellar customer service and amazing food. YUM!!

This store sells the widest range of milled goods I've ever seen. They sell 'em prepackaged AND in bulk. And they have a killer cafe right there in the store, making some delicious sandwiches on homemade breads. My grilled turkey club sandwich was awesome. My mom and I took the tour at the factory down the street, got to meet and chat with Bob himself, and gained knowledge and an appreciation for what they do and how they make their products. What a great company! I came home with some pastry flour, some french green lentils, and a few other items to try.

Guaranteed, you will be blown away by the vast selection of flours, seeds and cereals (both hot and cold). You name it, they have it. Bob's also got a great selection of baking cookbooks and utensils. We came for breakfast late on a Saturday morning. Our dining experience was okay. If coming in for breakfast/lunch, you enter Bob's and pass through the grocery aisles to get to the order counters in the back. The order line moves quickly. It's like the Hot Cake House on Powell, you order and then get your table. They'll bring your food out. Somehow, I shouldn't have been surprised, but I had the best cornmeal muffin ever. Its texture, flavor, sweetness and temperature...then served with fresh sweet butter...was amazingly good. Seating is available both up and downstairs. Coffee and other beverages are self-serve. During busy hours on the weekend, it can be a little awkward navigating between the beverage bar and your table, through an aisle filled with shoppers and their carts. JP ordered the vegetarian chili and I ordered the regular version. Neither were particularly good, primarily because they had a massive overload of cumin. Neither of us could finish our chili. For a side, we asked for a side of fried grits. I was surprised that the order turned out to be three slabs of cheese grits, each shaped exactly like a McDonald's hash brown. The menu didn't say the grits had cheese so I was a little surprised when they did in fact come with cheese. These grits were heavy. I'd pass next time. But I've been assured all ingredients in the grits are fresh, nothing is prepackaged. Oh, the coffee - it's just so-so. Something stronger and richer would be nice.

Must write a review.... am waaaaay too faithful of a patron of BRM steel-cut oats sold at my local Costco... also, Yelpee friend told me about how Bob's makes this dried buttermilk (yes, at a ghastly $36).. so thought to review the time we came for breakfast at the early hour of 0630am in nearby Milwaukie (20 mins. from Portland?) Cool part of the place is a diner, serving up pancakes and the like... the other, bins and bins of grain delights, as well as large bags. You name it....fun to visit their products. Located in a more off-beat road, not too much there, and yes, there is def a large mill there as well as a restaurant. Very cool PS In case you were wondering, as I was, whether they discount their bulk grains.... uh... they do not. 'Twas sad to learn it, as I'm sure you are too at the moment.

I moved to Portland last month and *finally* got around to visiting Bob's Red Mill today. I'm a long-time fan of their oatmeal, but I wasn't sure what else they mill there. Turns out almost literally everything. They mill gluten-free flour options, if you're into white people adventure allergies, low-carb flour options, if you're into white people lazy diets, and of course a myriad of grains, if you're into food that you don't rely on as a conversation topic. Sure, I'm judgy, but you either know what I'm talking about here or you're on a gluten- and/or carb-free diet and you're super boring. The restaurant ordering area looks a little cafeteria-like, so I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of freshness, but my omelet was definitely cooked to order, the biscuits were indistinguishable from fresh-baked (though too fast to be so), and the hashbrowns were, well... hashbrowns. You leave them on a grill for a few hours and scoop them up to order. They were fine. My omelet was very light and fluffy, cooked perfectly so that the ample cheese melted fully, the eggs remained delicate, and there was no browning or greasiness. The biscuits were NOT biscuits as this Southern girl knows them, but rather some sort of giant, fluffy, moist, slightly sweet whole-grain cakes. They were delightful, but they are not biscuits. That said, I'd order another one and smother it in honey in a heartbeat. Portion sizes are extremely generous. The store itself is a baking wonderland. They have EVERYTHING for baking. It's insane. Ok, they don't have Callebaut chocolate blocks or a white porcelain bain-marie for you to try to replicate the pot de crème recipe you saw in your last Williams-Sonoma catalog, but if you really need those things, you can revisit the W-S catalog. They are a wonderland of baking essentials and non-essentials. If you like to bake - even if you're bad at it and you rely on mixes - then you should go to there. If you're super bad at it, they also have baked goods available, and those looked delightful.

I'm glad I visited this place. I had an excellent quinoa salad and a bowl of vegetarian chili, both gluten free. The cashier/waitress was helpful and knowledgeable, and happily showed me what the order of operations is here. Just so you're not also surprised, since surprise is often the bane of existence for gluten-free folks, you will go to the back and order at the counter. The menu is somewhat limited, so don't be surprised. You might have to ask at the counter what you can eat, but the waitstaff was knowledgeable and helpful. Before you get to the counter, look around and see if there's anything in the bakery or cooler that you want. I did see a section in the bakery with "wheat free" baked goods. I didn't ask further about it, and didn't feel like risking it not being completely gluten free, but if you're interested the baked goods looked delicious. At the very least, they'd be worth asking about to see if they're suitable for you. (Unless you're one of those gluten-eaters, in which case, enjoy! All the baked goods looked great, so I'm sure you'll find something you like.) As far as the store goes, they have the full complement of Bob's Red Mill products, including bulk items and everything that they sell packaged. They also have a fully-stocked freezer full of Udi's products, and a decent variety of other things that I forgot to take note of. If you need it, you can probably find it here.

I love BRM!! I've been doing a lot of vegan baking lately and BRM has any weird ingredient I might need, like egg replacer, and strange root starches, and specialty flours. The cafe is pretty good too, and they have vegan French toast! Actually, they have a separate vegetarian/vegan menu that is mostly vegan! Also a separate vegan pastry case too! I was impressed and love supporting this company. Someday, I plan on taking the mill tour... I think it would be fun.

As of February 12th, Bob's has added dinner to their menu! After an extensive kitchen remodel, they are back up and running (thank goodness - we can buy bread again!) Tonight we visited for our first dinner there. It just happened to be Bob's 85th birthday, and the man himself was there! With wife and I think his grand daughter. We waved and wished him happy birthday. He said yesterday had been his party, with over 1000 people coming and going. Lot's of folks love Bob. If you want to see why, just google the words: bob moore bob's red mill ...and you can read why. Not a lot of people know about the new dinner menu yet, which is why there weren't many people in attendance on a Saturday night at 7pm. Understandable since It's only been three days. But soon it should be filled to the rafters. Why? **Great food. Tonight's manager shared with us Bob's philosophy regarding their food sourcing: "We buy the best. We aren't in the restaurant business to make money. We are here to keep people healthy." My prime rib and my wife's salmon bore this out. Delicious! **Great atmosphere. There is enough light to actually see your companion. The open architecture allows for viewing the entire room at a glance, including the store itself laid out below, while experiencing the privacy of your own table. The music is tasteful and quiet enough to allow conversation without raised voices. There are two (2) grand pianos on the upper deck, sitting side by side. Perhaps live entertainment will soon be more than an occasional thing? **No tipping. That's right, you order at the register as you would for any other meal, and there is no place on the credit slip for a tip. Our cashier said "Bob's pays us employees well enough so we don't have to depend on tips to survive." We had a delightful meal for just over $30 total. **Great people. They obviously enjoy working there. My best one word summation of all things Bob would have to be...genuine.

I've been once before, but it was 4 years ago. I like their products, and have many in my kitchen but I purchase them at New Seasons, or where ever I am shopping. Today a few friends and I decided to take the tour over at the Manufacturing Plant located about a mile away, so of course we had to follow it up with a visit to the store and a meal from their cafe. I should have ordered breakfast, but somehow I found myself ordering from the lunch menu, big mistake. Pros: Great Oregon company, employee owned and operated Great product, lots and lots of Gluten free items that are milled, processed and packaged in a completely separate area of the plant. Lovely store, packed with over 400 of their companies products, plus more: Baking utensils, storage jars and bread making machines. Superior staff, super friendly and helpful Large Menu Selection Breakfast served all day Good Espresso drinks - My Mexican Mocha was most excellent. Cons: My Grilled Turkey Sandwich was BAD!!! From the greasy bread and too much of the stone ground mustard, plus the not so grilled onions, to the funny tasting and way over salted turkey, I couldn't eat it. I'm hoping that this was a fluke but I will never order it again so I won't be finding out. When I go back, if I decide to have a meal, I will be sticking to the Breakfast menu and hopefully raising my review to 4 or even 5 stars. My friends ordered and enjoyed the Biscuits and Gravy, the French Dip, and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

Had breakfast @ BRM x2 this week after work. I thought the whole experience was mediocre. kinda like food from a Denny's or a poorly managed Sherri's. The staff seemed miserable and depressed. Much different than it was when we went with our in-laws 2 years ago. Oh! and I purchased a couple of bags of hot cereal after breakfast and the lady at the checkout didn't even give us a bag. I wonder what is going on!?!?!? Even my husband noted that the staff seemed very depressed. Weird!! Pros: Great breakfast prices, vegan options,GF options, cute store. I will try again and hopefully I can change my review. I am kinda sad for them.

I arrived here at 8:30am on a Saturday and was surprised about how empty it was. By they time I left the parking lot was packed full of cars. If you want to avoid the crowds definitely think about getting in there early. This was my first time here and I was a little confused no what to do. They have some boards hanging above the registers that list some specials they are offering. There are menus at the far left with breakfast on one side and lunch on the other. There are allot of options to choose from and I decided to go with a cup of the Scottish oatmeal and a side of fried corn grits. The oatmeal comes with a side of brown sugar, raisins, and nuts. They ask what kind of milk you want for the oatmeal when you order and I decided on half and half. The oatmeal by itself was pretty good but I could not help myself and added the three additions they offered along with my half and half. The portion was pretty generous and I'm glad I decided to get only a bowl (which is under 3 bucks). The oatmeal was not gummy but had just the right amount of stickiness to it. The corn grits were pretty good as well and they come with a side of syrup to put on them. The coffee is self serve and if you like cream in your coffee they have the shelf stable containers available for use. You should really try this place don't let the healthy meal choices scare you away. I will definitely go back and check out the lunch menu sometime.

Great food at the lunch counter. I had a simple but delicious turkey salad. They have a lot of seating and a nice patio for sunny days. The portions are large- if you order a salad it's all you'll need! The staff was very friendly aside from my cashier who got sassy with me. Tons of gluten free and vegan baked good options.

This store is overwhelming, but has a lot of great stuff there. I did go there for breakfast with my mom. They give you a big breakfast for the money...with healthy eggs/options.....too much for me to eat though! The store is great in and of itself...so worth a visit if you are into gluten-free stuff or heathier kinds of grains, etc....

Read as 3.5 stars: 3 for the food 4 for the store Everyone in the area, make sure you go! The family of 8 piled into 2 vehicles to take the 25 minute trek to Milwaukie from Canby because my MIL had always wanted to check the place out. It was past 1 when we arrived and I was starving. The place was packed since it was a holiday week and the ordering was a bit chaotic. This is an order at the counter and they bring you the food type of place. Everyone had something different-I chose to have breakfast (pancakes/eggs) and everyone else had sandwiches/soup/salad, etc. It was hard for the SIL who is doing a low/no carb deal to find something except for a pre-packaged chef salad, but she it worked out. Most people had water, others had soda and I had iced tea. They do not have artificial sweetener only Stevia (which anyone with taste buds stays away from -or I should say, taste buds like mine) and luckily I carry a stash of Splenda in my purse for cases like these. I will say the potato soup the husband and MIL had was by far some of the best soup I have had. Thick, but not too thick, rich but not too rich and really delicious. My pancakes were very thick-and rubbery and I would not order them again. Ilana's black bean soup was good with added salt and well, the food is not the highlight. After we ate, we perused the store. They had everything I have ever seen with Bob's face on it-from buckwheat flour to granola, etc. along with a ton of things I have never seen or heard of. There are tons of bulk bins with nuts, spices, molecular gastronomy components(xanthum gum, guar gum, etc), dried fruits, various grains and tons of neat stuff. There were shelves lined with honey, teas and products that had nothing to do with Bob (or the employees that now run and own the company) and there were a few shelves with supplies for baking, measuring, storing and cookbooks. The women folk all ended up buying some things. I wasn't impressed with the customer service either at the food counter or at the store check out, but again, it was wicked busy so I chalked it up to the working folks being stressed by the non-working folks. I would be willing to check this place out again when I am next in the area but would probably would avoid it during holiday time.

Definitely stop by Bob's Red Mill for breakfast! It's definitely an experience! The dishes are pretty basic but they do a great job at it. Cheese grits are delicious, as is their BACON... YUM. I love this place, it's so fun and has great food. I bought a bag of strawberry granola too, all natural, healthy, and tasty! I love going to Bob's Red Mill forever and ever!

Love Bobs. The food is always good. The portions are huge and they're cheap! The staff is always really friendly as well which is the cherry on top. It can get pretty busy on Fridays and Saturdays so keep that in mind. Otherwise, its a great place to have breakfast. And sometimes Bobs comes In and plays the piano =)

Yummy breakfast! Had a great breakfast sandwich and my kids had yummy pastries. Loved that the shop was prepared for my dairy-allergic daughter and had strawberry soy yogurt to supplement the meal. Perhaps the yummiest chocolate banana scone EVER! Great selection in the "store" section. Picked up a bag of delish oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (they were HUGE, about six in the bag). Wish I lived closer, I'd be there ALL the time.

I've driven by many a time by the Bob's Red Mill and said in my head to the figurine of who I assume is Bob in the upstairs window, "Don't fret...I'll visit you soon." I finally made it there this weekend and was so excited I could hardly walk, instead of sprinting in to the store. Even from the outside, it is a surreal experience, like walking back into time. Inside, there are rows of any type of flour, grain, baking mixes, legumes, baking products you could ever wish for or dream of. Their bulk spices section is so extensive, I had a great time just sniffing and filling up small baggies of all types of spices I never knew existed. I came to stock up on flour and stock up I did. You can buy 5 lb bags individually, or save an extra 10% if you buy the case. My best find of the day however, had to be the Glenmore Farm jams that they also carry. I've never found better prices on them nor have I found anywhere that carried nearly so many varieties. I quickly snagged my favorite raspberry jam as well as some strawberry rhubarb and huckleberry that I am looking forward to trying. We also had brunch here and I have to say, I've never had better pancakes anywhere else. Fluffy, chewy perfect pillows of pancake batter that I smeared with the freezer jams and butter were delicious. They allowed us to substitute pastrami for corned beef on the reuben for no extra cost and it was also very good. The only thing I wouldn't order again would be the fried cheese grits. Delicious at first, but quickly filling and a bit heavy on the stomach. By the time I was done, I was too stuffed to come back to the baked pastry bins that I had lusted over prior to placing my brunch order. All in all, Bob's is a great place to visit and I could definitely spend hours here and not get bored. Inside, you feel as if you have been transported out of Milwaukie and into a touristy piece of history. Apparently a lot of people feel the same about Bob's as the place was constantly bustling with customers. "Don't fret Bob, I'll be back soon."

Second to eggnog, cookies are the most important part of my holiday traditions. This year, I had the daunting task of converting some of our family favorites into gluten-free versions so I could bake with the kids. There are plenty of websites to instruct you in concocting mixtures of things like sorghum and xanthan gum and ingredients better left to science class. I simply wanted a big bag of "not flour" to use as a substitute without compromising flavor. Enter Bob's Red Mill GF All-Purpose Baking Flour... for the first "not flour" I tried, I was pretty impressed. I didn't need to adjust other ingredients in the recipe or baking times, and it delivered a reasonable facsimile of my traditional cookies. The dough rose and browned as expected, and the taste and texture of the cookies were acceptable, if not dead-ringers for the regulars. It worked better for the oatmeal-based cookies than it did for the butter cookies, which came out a little on the dry/chalky side. A word of warning! If you love eating cookie dough, resist. The mix contains garbanzo and fava bean flours, and you'll detect a weird raw bean taste if you try it before it's baked. :(

I'm reviewing the store vice the restaurant as we we're looking for baking supplies vice a place to eat. For those of culinary bent, this is the ultimate in flour, baking mixes, etc. The bulk bins were dirt cheap ($1 a pound for brown rice flour) and had a wide selection of glluten free options. However, the most important reasoon for shopping here is...... keeping an employee owned business going as old Bob himself turned the business over to his employees in 2012. And perhaps, that should be the only reason you really need.

Truly, just a great regional treasure. I'm not a granola (ah ...yeah :) ), but the sheer variety of grains is astounding. Before you walk in, you think of wheat and oats only to see an amazing variety of grains, especially old world ones. I didn't try the cafe, but taking the journey into something so basic yet special was a ton of fun. Prices - head straight to the bulk bins. You can save like 70% vs. 'New Seasons' or 'Whole Foods' for the very same product. Wow. Everyone in the Portland region should go there at least once.

Believe it or not, this just might be the best vegan breakfast in the Portland area. They've got vegan french toast with veggie sausage! And lots of eggs and lot of gluten free dishes! Their pancakes come with real maple syrup for no extra charge! Their espresso cart has a drink of the day-today I got a mexican mocha for $1.75! I think this place's target audience are "heart-healthy seniors". Works for me. Awesome grocery store too with really affordable kitchen utensils as well as a killer bulk section. I got silicon spatulas for my Le Creuset for a couple bucks. Go and try it for yourself!

Cool place to try, but food so-so. Had the veggie omelet and mrs had pastrami sandwich and soup. Mine had few veggies though and she said hers wasn't one of best. Her chips were good though, and the biscuits were very nice. I'll try the oats next time. It's a cute place, kid friendly with outdoor seating - lots of seating. And a great selection in their store. Chinook Book had some good coupons that made it worth it.

Bob's Red Mill. The epitome of all things baking/cooking in the vein of healthy, natural, organic, and/or gluten-free. If Bob doesn't have your specialty flour or rice, it's really going to be surprising. They have all things grain in both packages and bulk. Being able to get specialty things in bulk is really helpful. I don't always want a full package of something. If your local store doesn't have what you're looking for, I'd say a trip to Bob's is in order. The restaurant part of the store was really underwhelming. The layout was a bit chaotic, even after the lunch rush. The food sounded better than it actually tasted. My corned beef sandwich (special that day) was mediocre at best--limp and boring. The coffee was a joke. In a town full of good stuff, you go with Kobos? Why? The star of the show were the flax corn chips. That should never be the case. I hear good things about the breakfast, but I don't see myself rushing to come back. Everything I need from Bob I can get a New Seasons, and I hardly find myself in Milwaukee.

The food was pretty darn good, much better than what you first expect when walking into a big red barn which is lined with grains. The portions were a bit on the large side. The price very decent. The whole grain biscuits were delicious. The eggs were decent but nothing spectacular. 3 stars. The biscuits and gravy were really good. 4 stars. The grits were fantastic!! 5 stars. The fried cheese grits were even better! 5 stars!! We even got a free oatmeal chocolate chip cookie for free because I checked in to foursquare. It was a really good cookie. 4.5 stars. The chile (vegetarian) was decent. Needed a little kick to it. 3 stars. Will definitely be back for the food and for the whole grains.

I have been here about 5 times and I really enjoy this place, each time I find something else to like about it. They have a HUGE selection of flours and a great Gluten Free selection. They also carry a nice collection of kitchen gadgets. I love eating there, the cheesy grits are THE BOMB! So yummy and the food is pretty darn good for Cafeteria type food. The family has been there for breakfast and lunch, all good in the hood! If it was not such a long commute for me, I would go more often!

Bob's Red Mill restaurant, located in the store, now serves dinner too. When my friend and I went to check out dinner, our GPS directed us to the wrong Bob's Red Mill (13521 SE Pheasant Ct instead of 5000 SE International Way, oops). Anyway, we got in around 7pm Friday night and it wasn't crowded at all, which was a relief. I got the shepherd's pie, which I liked quite a bit especially because the only extra is a roll of bread, which I bagged; the pie itself was a good portion size, not too big. My friend's dish was a bit late, unfortunately, but an employee walked past and noticed. The staff was very friendly, the area clean, and I love how the eating areas are spread out and also on the second floor looking down on the store. Will be back!

I am in whole grain nirvana! Hazelnut flour, coconut flour, almond flour.. Aisles of grains.....pinch me. And the aroma.. Freshly baked bread wafts through the air into the parking lot before you even get inside. Talk about a marketing strategy....there's a counter to order sandwiches and breakfast, and places inside and out to sit. The place was very clean , staff extremely helpful.. Why there were actually three registers and all three were staffed. Unbelievable! I am in awe of great customer service, since living on the coast, where customer service went away with Lewis& Clark. Fresh products, great service, great yeast breads....but my peanut butter cookies, while not jumbo size are much better... Yes i'm smirking. This was so worth the 180 mile round trip, in the sun with the top down... Not mine.. The car!

The first time my babe took me here, I was like... Bob who, Mill where, Whole Grainnnnn? Then I looked in side the BIG RED BARN and I fell in love! :) Been trying to get here for lunch but never have the chances yet, there are always something! Oh and I saw a nice looking banana cupcake with chocolate frosting, next time, it shall be mine! :)

Bob's Red Mill products are the best! I didn't realize the company was based just outside of downtown Portland, so we took a drive over to the visitors center. Decorated like a big red mill, the shop contains aisles and aisles of Bob's products in varying sizes and cases. Prices are excellent (and ever lower if you buy in bulk quantity). In the back there is a cafe serving breakfast/lunch, and baked goods. We had already eaten, so I focused on shopping. I didn't realize the full breadth of grain/legume/seed products that Bob carried. I was in heaven. Sadly, we did not see Bob, but apparently he's know to appear and pose for photos.

This place is great! They have everything from a single toasted bagel to a 50 lb bag of raw wheat! The store has a bakery and coffee shop in it, they do serve real food, as well as dozens of delicious baked products, but they also have all of the "Bob's Red Mill" products available for sale in the aisles, as well as 20 and 50 lb bags of raw grains and various mixes available in the bulk section toward the back. The wheat-free bread here is amazing, and we always keep some of it in our house. The espresso cart out front is great, the parking is surprisingly good (and they won't yell if you go across the street to Dave's), and the staff, while a bit standoffish, are knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely come by for a quick meal, do some staple and specialty shopping, and make sure to check out their bargain bins (it's a room by the bulk). The tour happens at the "new mill" location a mile down the road; we're going to try that out, next! :D

Dang... Do I get the steel cut oats or the 7-grain hot cereal for breakfast? This internal debate happens every time. Morning is not my thing, but having breakfast here sure is. I haven't had anything bad from the menu. I always leave with a few muffins or cookies, as the kiddos get all uppity with me if I don't. There's no hiding that I have stopped by Bob's, as some thing grainy always follows me home. The store has to have the largest selection of milled goods that I have ever seen. I can't resist trying to make some new, baked goodies when I get home. The blame is to be firmly placed on the delicious smell of fresh bread wafting about. The staff are very helpful and the store is highly organized. Have I mentioned they offer cooking classes too? I just came in for the essentials. But then there was this mix, and then I saw the selection of rice and then Granola, and then....

I love Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Store! They have gluten-free options on the menu for breakfast and I've never gotten cross-contaminated there, which is always a bonus. I like that I can buy in bulk here. So many options and no tax. Yeah! :-)

This store is really cool and unique. They have every kind of grain you can imagine and if you are gluten free it is your Mecca. We came over here for breakfast on a Saturday and it was booming. Expect to wait a while for your food but it is worth the wait. They use whole grain ingredients (you wouldn't expect anything else) and as a result, their pancakes and waffles are very thick and heavy so you should share. While we were here we even saw Bob! He was sitting at his reserved table with his wife. Very cool to see him still around.

Super sweet staff, great (and cheap) bulk items, and fabulous breakfast (my favorite is pancakes or biscuit/gravy). Let the kids roam around on the grass in the back and you have a win for all!

This experience could have turned out with a bad review but thanks to the Asst Kitchen Manager, it ended on a positive note. On a busy Saturday lunchtime at Bob's, we were told to expect a 20-30 minute wait for food. No problem. We found a seat upstairs overlooking the shop and serving area downstairs. After about 30 minutes we started watching the kitchen pass to see when our food might be coming out. My omelette ended up sitting on the pass for about 5-10 minutes because of a mess up with hubby's veggie burger. It was barely warm when it was finally served to me! I was so disappointed as I had been wanting to come to Bob's Red Mill for ages. However, the Asst. Kitchen Manager (I didn't ger her name) was a role model for customer service assuring me they'd take care of it. I suggested to her that they could just microwave it to heat it up as I was really hungry at this point, but they quickly made a new plate of food and brought it back to me with two complimentary coupons for lunch or breakfast. Food was good and coupled with their response to my complaint, it turned me around from being upset and disappointed to a happy and satisfied customer. Kudos to the Asst. Kitchen Manager! The bulk food sections in the store is wonderful and really good value. We stocked up on quite a few things. Then we saw Bob and his cute little car on the way out. Nice way to end our visit.

For nearly ten years I owned a home just on the other side of 224 from Bob's Big Red Barn. Between losing the convenience of having Bob's so nearby, and Dave's Killer Bread as Bob's cross-the-street neighbor, I sometimes question why I ever sold and moved. There are so many tremendous values and variety @ Bob's! I've saved a fortune just on the Steel cut oats alone! They have about 50 different kinds, and most of 'em are priced between .79 and $1.35 a pound. For those of you keeping track at home, if you buy the Irish style steel cut oats in the tin can @ any major grocer, it'll be in the $8-$10 range. Bob's also has the make-it-yourself peanut butter and almond butter machines, and charge about 1/2 what they do @ Fred Meyers. They offer 25-30# bags of just about every type of grain you could ever image, dirt cheap. Many are now gluten free, as well. Make sure when you go to leave time for the free tour around the plant. Well worth it! And the breakfast and lunch menus vary frequently, but I seem to always come back to their Tillamook cheddar, fried grits! Planning on doing a triathalon in the near future? This might be the perfect carb-loading fuel source. For 25 years Bob Moore has been gettin' the dang thing done and built an exemplary business. Let's hope that whoever is heir apparent to the throne when Bob inevitably hangs it up, is worthy of the calling...

While I've previously enjoyed the grains and baking mixes from Bob's Red Mill, we decided to try their restaurant for breakfast the other day. We ordered the pancakes and eggs with a side of biscuits which they are known for. Both the eggs and pancakes were dry beyond belief. The pancakes did have a good flavor but they were so dry they were almost inedible. The biscuit was good but it was served cold and would have been better served warm. We were very disappointed in the quality of food for breakfast. I wouldn't put in effort to go back there as I feel I can get a better breakfast at any other place in the area. Their store was still nice and you can buy the flour, grains and mixes you want but the restaurant is lacking.

Wait, is that Bob over there eating breakfast? Yes, it is! I think there's a good reason Bob eats here every day. Yes, it could be that this is whole grain EMPIRE and he wants to sit on the balcony overseeing all of the people doing his bidding. But I think it has more to do with the delicious affordable food. I come here once a week for breakfast, and it never disappoints. I think the most expensive item on the menu is an omelette for 8 dollars? Everything else is less than that, sometimes considerably less. You can get a gut-busting order of fresh baked biscuits with super creamy gravy for about 3 dollars, and you won't need to eat lunch! Every time I order a cup of oatmeal, I swear they've messed up and given me a bowl, because it's huge. And cheap. And so good (it comes with raisins, nuts, brown sugar and milk on the side). My favorites here are: Biscuits and gravy, Fried Corn Grits, Cheese Grits, Steel Cut Oatmeal, 10-Grain pancakes, and just the plan-old scratch biscuits. It's all good. As for the store itself: it's a tourist attraction in Milwaukie! You should bring your friends and family from out of town here. Any grain or bean or nut you could imagine in bulk, all sorts of awesome natural foods and unique cooking items, and great baked goods to take with you.

If you have ever seen Bob's Red Mill products at the store or tried any of them, you know how good they are and now you know that it's located in Milwaukie, OR. This is one of those treasures you find along the way and one you will cherish forever. Once you've made a run to Bob's, you will always find reasons to keep going back. We make it a Saturday morning about every 3 months where we stock up on Scottish Oats, buckwheat, stevia, and a host of other products. The coolest thing about Bob's is that when Bob retired, instead of selling out to a multinational conglomerate, he sold it to his employees. Now that is a man of integrity. Had he gone the other way it isn't likely I would have ever gone back. Saturday morning breakfast is served at 7am so you can get a really early start ahead of the weekend crowds. The food is decent. Not the greatest but beyond mediocrity. Vegetarian scrambles, waffles, wheat-free toast and Kobo's coffee. Now I ask you. Does it get any better than that? I don't think it does in my world. Go to Bob's for the overall experience and you will keep going back time and again.

Honestly, it's hard for me not to go to BRM every day. I work mere blocks away, and when the stomach starts growling at about 10:30 am, my first thought is "Bob's". What a fun place! Go on a weekend and cram yourself onto the porch with the busloads of old folks who come every Sat/Sun to chat it up with Bob. Bob really will come say hello to you. And you might feel compelled to bear hug him for creating such a wonderful place. The food rules. Super healthy, super fresh, lots of options for people with allergies or an assortment of dietary restrictions. I find the soy cheese grilled cheese actually better than real cheese! They make a few different varieties of Gardenburger-esque sandwiches, which I don't think are actually Gardenburger-brand- they are way better. Try it with grilled mushrooms and onions. The breakfast sandwich is a steal at $4.29- two eggs, Tillamook cheddar, on hearty bread with a BIG cup of grits. Last time I had this, I was full until dinner time! Also noteworthy are the Tuna Melt and the soups- different soup or two in addition to the chili available every day. I have never had a bad meal there, it's all super duper. What people may not realize is that you can actually do your grocery shopping at Bob's. They've got pretty much everything you need except produce. And don't be shy about checking out the clearance bin, either- every day, they mark down day-olds and other products for some real steals. Also, they bulk section is great, especially if you'd like to try a few new things but not commit to a whole pound package. Long live BRM.

Bob's Red Mill always has excellent quality product. Not to mention some really, i'll say rare, items which are always fun to try. Things to know: Bread is like $2 a loaf Get a cookie The kitchen attached closes at 3 Not open on Sunday

The bulk section at Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Store is like Winco's bulk section, but only fancier and a lot more hectic on weekends. The parking lot easily overflows into the street out front. At Bob's, I like the plethora of grains and herbs, though not as plentiful in the herb section as Limbo on SE 39th. I've never eaten at the store, but in case you choose to, their dining room is located on the first and second floors. If you need gluten-free pancake mix the size of animal feed bags, they have it!
