Perfect stop if you're passing through Medford. The biscuits are to die for. I ordered one Zuke & Bell, had to have seconds.

This is the second time I have gone here. It is fantastic. Really good quality coffee, I also picked up some bacon cheddar scones. I love them, I will get some every time I come here. For breakfast we had biscuits and gravy. I wasn't terribly fond of the gravy, but the biscuit was perfect and my husband loved the gravy, so it might have just been me. The service is also great and the people are friendly. I love that they use fresh, local ingredients. Even the honey was fantastic.

Best breakfast sandwich ever. Delicious French press coffee. Was just driving through Medford when we chanced upon this place. Loved the food and the staff. Such a lovely place.

It is hard to get a seat sometimes and its a little pricey, but defiantely a good splurge every once in a while!

What a find! Excellent atmosphere with Ray Charles, and Ella Fitzgerald playing paired with a fantastic breakfast! I had the beef and blue which was very difficult to put down to have a sip of my equally delicious Lillie Mocha. Fun and sweet ladies running the show. Just what I needed this morning. I'll be back some weekend for the biscuits and gravy. :)

I give Buttercloud Bakery five stars for five reasons. 1) Great owners and employees. They know how to run a restaurant well with welcoming customer service. 2) Fantastic food with all sorts of tasty options to choose from. Whether you want a slice of cake, a biscuit sandwich, or a salad, you won't be disappointed with the taste of the food unless you eat something you shouldn't have eaten ;) 3) Buttercloud Bakery is #1 on Yelp for the Medford area and it has only been open for two years. 4) A lot of the food and drinks at Buttercloud Bakery are made up with local, quality, healthy, and even secret ingredients :) 5) There are few restaurants in Southern Oregon that offer the unique qualities that Buttercloud Bakery brings to the table. Overall, this place is a must for tourists to stop on in while traveling through Medford. A lot of locals love the food too! :)

One of the only good breakfast places around besides my house! My husband and I eat here at least once a month or so. On the weekends they serve biscuits and gravy that are to die for! The staff is all nice and friendly, and they are always experimenting with new ideas. I.e. a Neopolitan cake that we were the first to try. There hasn't been anything that I have not liked from Buttercloud yet! If you like homemade chai they have the best and it is nice and spicy, my favorite house chai.

The best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. I think it might be the best biscuit I've ever had too! Hubby and I both ordered the Farmhouse sandwich and a scone for later (me, strawberry; him, bacon cheddar). The sandwich is comprised of their dense and tasty biscuit, basil aioli, bacon, tomato, and a fried egg. We finished them in just under 5 minutes, if you can believe that. I think this joint just might become a regular weekend morning treat for us.

Super cute, amazingly dog friendly, and tasty. The biscuit (bacon, tomato, egg and basil aioli) I got was out of this world and my husband tried to steal it. He got the pulled pork biscuit which was ok, but no where near as great.

Like most restaurants, it is very hard to get a healthy meal here. Most entrées are protein and carbs. But the food tastes good. We both had egg sandwiches, mine with scrambled eggs and cheese and hers fried egg with bacon and tomato. I had to stretch my mouth to bit into the whole sandwich. The cheese was excellent--from Rogue Creamy, but not much of it. Her fried egg dribbled yolk so she ate it with a fork. Biscuit sandwiches are a bit unusual but these tasted very good. We sat outside on a warm October day; the traffic was noisy but the trees were wearing their best fall colors.

Fun fact: How Buttercloud got it's name... From what I understand, the wife was a school teacher who dreamed of starting a bakery and cafe. She had been refining her biscuit recipe and gave her husband a biscuit to try, to which he proclaimed, "this tastes like a cloud of butter." And onto my review... My brother and I go to Buttercloud multiple times when he visits. There really is no other bakery and cafe with the same delicious food and friendly service. My favorite is the Rogue Scramble. These delicious biscuits use Rosemary Touvelle cheese made locally by Rogue Creamery. And for dessert, the Orange-Pecan Sticky Bun are perfect (for those of you who aren't crazy about "orange" in your cinnamon rolls, Buttercloud doesn't overdo it at all).

  • Carmelita P.

The service was great and fast. We sat outside because all the tables were taken, wich is a good sign. I had "The Works" which is two biscuits with ham and gravy. Topped with two eggs. I have come to realize that with each different place, I am always ordering biscuits and gravy! My breakfast here was ok. Good portions. But not the best I've had.

OMG! This place hypnotized us with their home-made chocolate cake and banana cream pie. I'm still dreaming about that delectable chocolate cake!

We found this gem while traveling during the holidays... I am still thinking about the meal! Fresh ingredients, the PERFECT biscuit, and I loved the aioli sauce. My boyfriend does not like biscuits, but easily found the exception in these. Super friendly staff. Cute, clean, and cozy place. I'd go here every week if I lived close! Looking forward to the next time I find myself in Medford :)

Delicious coffee, fresh and sweet orange juice, crazy good biscuits, amazing service and the best sweets in town! Plus the weekend breakfast menu is fantastic!

After reading the reviews for months on end I was finally able to coincide my visits to Medford to a time that Buttercloud was open. Anytime I see anything with "bakery" in the name I am game (sweet treats are my nemesis). Housed at the former location of Great Harvest Bread a cute remodel spruced the place up. The location is easily accessible with a small parking lot. This review is solely on the baked goods. I ordered cookies and their cupcake of the month (I was quite surprised that with bakery for a name they only offered one cupcake flavor per month). The cupcake was double chocolate blackberry, and while adequate, it didn't completely wow me (or my wife), the frosting was a bit lackluster, it had the texture of butter cream but lacked the sweet creamy flavor that reminds me to take my Lipitor. The cookies were a better, but still didn't quite do it for me. The chocolate chip was okay but lacked that brown sugar sweetness I crave and the peanut butter chocolate chip seamed to have oatmeal or some other similar grain mixed in. You could tell that everything was scratch made, service was friendly and attentive. The biscuits looked amazing, on a future visit I will go when I'm looking for a meal rather than a treat, from all of the reviews on the "cafe" side I'm sure they'll live up to the hype.

Came into Medford for business and was recommended this place! As a Southern girl, I was eager to try the biscuits, as good biscuits are hard to come by on the Left Coast. Wow!! My bacon biscuit was so tasty! Great fluffiness, taste, etc. I could have eaten another 2!! The lemonade was also amazing! I am tempted to go back tomorrow before we head back to Portland!! We also had very friendly service!! Great place!

I discovered Buttercloud Bakery via Yelp and decided to get lunch when I arrived in Medford. I wanted to eat something local, fresh and different. I ordered their Beef and Blue and the Buttercloud Salad along with an iced tea and the Maple Bacon chocolate chip. I enjoyed the meal and the cookie was okay. I appreciate the ambiance and the cheerful employees. I would come back again and recommend this place to friends.

A biscuit lovers heaven. If I wouldn't be a 500 lb whale I'd have a farmhouse every meal of the day. The basil aioli they use gives it such a nice flavor and the biscuits taste like my grandmothers Mississippi biscuit. Mmmmmm so good! The staff at buttercloud are truly AMAZING! The type of people that remember your name and greet you with a smile. In the midst of customers out the door this staff still shines. This is the type of atmosphere you can go everyday and feel like they are just good hometown people.

My son and I stopped in for breakfast a few weeks ago. I've been hearing about a couple new places cropping up around town, this one having opened in November, and finally made it. Buttercloud offers a limited menu, but a delightful one, with biscuit sandwiches and miscellaneous baked goods making up the majority of items. If you have ever been to Bakesale Betty in Oakland (CA), the feel of it slightly reminded me of that place, even if just for the types of food items they offer. The food is simple and good - a combination I have grown to love and appreciate. We had a bacon cheddar scone and Rogue Scramble sandwich (with scrambled egg and Rogue Creamery rosemary touvelle cheese), and a Dagoba chocolate mocha. The sandwich and mocha were incredible. The scone, well, I only got a nibble, so I can't speak with much authority, but that was pretty good too. I do know that they do a lot of pre-order business, so if you're looking for tasty biscuits or a yummy fresh baked pie for a gathering it sounds like you would benefit from ordering well in advance. The couple who owns and operates the business is really nice. They are transplants from Seattle and said they came in search of warmer and drier weather. We are glad they came! They have brought with them a fun spot of sunshine on the Medford dining stage and I hope they stick around a long time. We will be back often! This is one of my new local favorites, hands down.

  • Masil M.

The bacon cheddar scone was perfection. The coffee good. And the couple running the place are delightful. I wish it had been the day they served slices of their lemon tarts. I will just have to return and find out if it tastes as good as it photographs. ***I've gone back to this place again and again. Each time, it was a great experience. The owners are fantastic, the pastries are great, the coffee is good. It will be one thing I will truly miss about Medford now that I won't be traveling down there often.

This was the type of breakfast I needed! The menu looked all too good to make a decision. I ended up with the farmhouse and the biscuits were tender and perfect, with high quality ingredients. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I wish we weren't just traveling through the area, we would be regulars at this spot for sure!

Fantastic. My group of 4 road trip buddies stopped here for a late breakfast, our first meal after 3 days of mac & cheese and ramen cooked on a camp stove. We are all from the Alantic southeast, home of biscuits and hearty breakfasts, and we were all equally amazed by the quality of Buttercloud's food. I tried the Rogue scramble, which sandwiched perfectly scrambled eggs and a fantastic medium sharp cheese with a touch of rosemary inside two layers of fluffy, hearty biscuit. The biscuits, in particular, blew me away. So much so that I went back to the counter TWICE to order more. First, I purchased the peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich, made with local raw honey, then a second plain biscuit with more honey and butter slathered on top. Everything at this cozy little shop, run almost entirely by women from all walks of life, invites visitors to relax and enjoy a solid, well-priced breakfast. Bravo, Buttercloud Bakery. I'll be buying some pastries for the road.

Can I get an option to add another star or 2 please? This place is a gem in the valley. Outstanding people that love the area, support the community, and source their menu from the local area. Their food is out of this world... try the Beef and Bleu, slow cooked southern style pulled beef, (Tillamook?) bleu cheese, with a sweet and tangy tomato compote. Totally.To.Die.For.

  • Christina S.

It doesn't get any better! This place it wonderfully scrumptious! It's now my "Go-To" place for breakfast and lunch. Their biscuits, homemade soups, salads, everything is delicious. I had some fresh pear butter with my biscuit the other day - OMG! So fresh, sweet, and flavorful!!

Amazing place, I their coffee was wonderful, and their French biscuit plate has ruined regular French toast for me.

--Star rating is always in comparison to other similarly priced establishments-- Very friendly service! We were there for lunch on a road trip and on our way to Crater Lake. I'm glad I found this place on Yelp. Lots of fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

I've been eating here since they opened and it is no surprise they are doing so well. Fresh local ingredients artfully combined for delicious flavor. I love love love their signature biscuit sandwiches! Desserts that are off the hook!! Friendly owners and staff in an upbeat and busy location. Gibson & Ellen are part of a new wave of eateries coming to Medford that gladdens my Foodie heart!

I just wanted to give an update, as it's been a couple months since this establishment has opened. We are very frequent customers, have been going just about every weekend since they opened. We don't eat out too terribly much, so this is normally our once a week go-to place. My boyfriend is still in love with the rogue scramble, as he gets it time and time again and I've just about tried everything on the menu- sandwich wise. I'll have to say though, nothing beats that breakfast egg sandwich, it's just too good. We've also tried the salad which my boyfriend said "is one of the best salads he's ever had at a restaurant" and both the brownie (amazing) and bacon-cheddar scone (also just, amazing, and totally a meal in its own). I've had a couple of their hot beverages but will admit their chai and mochas are my favorite thing first thing in the morning. The fact that they serve daily specials now like pies and cheesecake and other delicious baked goods and daily soups just makes it that much more appealing. There is always something new to try and that's an exciting aspect. I've yet to try the salad, the mac n cheese, or the baked beans (pretty much any side, as the sandwich is usually quite enough) but I plan on it! Having some more vegetarian options or the ability to build a vegetarian sandwich might appeal to more people- my boyfriend really likes the rogue scramble but I feel like maybe he orders it because it's one of only a couple "entree" dishes he can eat being vegetarian. We've brought friends and family here and even had their biscuits with our Thanksgiving dinner (courtesy of my boyfriends brother and wife who are also very big fans). You have our vote!

Consistently absolutely delicious food! Biscuits that melt in your mouth, changing seasonal treats... and that roast beef breakfast biscuit... OMG like having a little party on your taste buds!

  • Jonah K.

I've been here a couple of times and have never had a bad experience, but I really wanted to show up on a weekend morning and try the biscuits and gravy. I did, and it was really great. Awesome consistency in the gravy and the biscuit was fluffy, delicious and inherently superior to the biscuit-in-a-tube biscuits with which many of us are accustomed. Now, Fruit Cup. When you order a fruit cup at a place, you just expect a small bowl filled with assorted lackluster melon chunks and awkwardly-large grapes, and maybe some pineapple too. Not so at Buttercloud! Much to my surprise, the fruit cup contained delicious blackberries, raspberries and strawberries. A member of the staff informed me casually that the strawberries, at least, were local and very fresh, and I find that pretty easy to believe. All in all, an amazing experience, rounded off with a French-press coffee and sunlight on the newly-installed deck out front. I'll certainly be back.

Herself and I drop by the Buttercloud Bakery every now and again when we are in the mood for a leisurely breakfast and a good cuppa coffee and our last visit was no exception. We were having some work done on our car, the Blue Bomber, at Expert Tire just across the street. Our mechanic figured the work would take about two hours, perfect for a Sunday brunch at the Buttercloud. We arrived a little after 10 am and found that quite a few people had the same idea. Happily we didn't have to wait long for a table. After a quick perusal of the menu, I ordered their pepper bacon biscuits and gravy with a large latte while Herself ordered the Rogue Scramble and a large mocha. We then pulled out our pads and logged into the café's free wi-fi , and began to catch up on the news. It is important to note that the Buttercloud is not a fast food joint. Don't come expecting to grab and go. They take their time preparing your order. And let me tell you, it's well worth the wait. While I usually prefer biscuits and sausage gravy, the Buttercloud's pepper bacon gravy is very tasty and goes very well with their fresh biscuits. Herself is very particular when it comes to scrambled eggs. She prefers a soft scramble with the cheese incorporated into the eggs. She found the Buttercloud's choice of Rogue Creamery's Rosemary Touvelle cheese quite delightful. The only drawback to our Sunday brunch was the noise. The architecture of the café is such that sounds tend to echo. As a result, the noises of the kitchen combine with the other conversations in the dining area create a rather cacophonous mixture. It's not so bad that one needs to raise one's voice to be heard, but it does detract from the otherwise relaxing atmosphere of the café. Price wise the Buttercloud's menu is a bit higher than average for the Rogue Valley but well in line with similar establishments in Portland, Eugene, Seattle and San Francisco. When you figure that they use local ingredients whenever possible and make everything from scratch, they really do offer an excellent meal for a reasonable price.

The service was ok but the food that looked remotely good was sold out and the food that I got was horrible I had to pick it apart just to find something edible in it if I go back ill just have a drink.

Drive 60+ miles from Crater Lake to come to this bakery. They had about a dozen different items, the average cookies and scones. Decided to get a half dozen of their biscuits and a jar of the house jam. Two girls at the front desk started freaking out they didn't have enough to sell us. One touched the biscuits with her hands to count and realized they had plenty. Then they lectured us on giving them advance notice for large orders. Six biscuits, really? We told them we didn't know the rules because we are from Washington. The other girl replied, "Now you know." Yes we do. Sorry we made the trip. =(

Won't go back. Tried the famous macaroni and cheese, really dry and over baked. Thought the breakfast biscuits were just too heavy for our taste. Just not that great. I really like my dining out to count, not feel like a waste of time and money.

I ate breakfast here two mornings in a row while visiting Ashland, Oregon and I can tell you that is always the sign of a great restaurant. The food and service is great and I just love the overall ambience of this restaurant and its management, cooks and wait staff. The service can be slow during busy times and this is because they are preparing you some ":morning goodness" and that takes time. The cashier let me know that the kitchen was a little behind in preparing the breakfast due to the morning rush but this is the way to handle these type of situations by keeping the patron informed. I did not mind since I know what was going to come away from the cooks was going to be a great tasting and filling breakfast for a very reasonable price. The only thing I could see others complain about would be the lack of available tables when the place is busy and the wait on the food. Americans have to realize that great food takes time to prepare and if you want low quality food then go to Denny's or IHOP and enjoy your breakfast!!!

I've been hearing about these guys for months and haven't had a chance to get in there. My loss. The food is great. The biscuits... Awesome. The staff was great too.

It's all about "the works!" This place has the best atmosphere and great for dining in with friends. The wait can be a little long and they need additional seating but the food is worth it! The service is friendly and fun and if your in need for that morning cup of joe the French press for two or four is just delightful and a great way to start your morning wake up.

Stopped in today, road trip from sacramento to portland. Wanted to try something new and what a find! Great food, friendly staff and very pleasantly surprised. Would highly recommend it and, yes, the biscuits are crazy good!

I brought my boss/friend here, and she is one of the most picky eaters I've ever met. I told her to trust me, and try the Farmhouse biscuit, and mentioned the amazing French Press coffee. She took my advice and tried both, and now (like me) this is her new favorite place for breakfast!! We also decided to share an order of the baccon biscuits and gravy for fun, and we all devoured it lol. Way to go everyone, you are all great at what you do, and your passion shows in everything you make.

A MUST GO . THIS IS AS CLOSE TO GRANNY's gravy as you will find. The bacon is great . The people are supper friendly .and the pressed coffee was the bomb.

A Haven for Foodies! Another great reason to LOVE Yelp! My boyfriend and I had just drove up from Campbell, CA to try out the ZipLines in Rogue Valley. I pulled out my Yelp app and looked for some tasty treats in Medford OR. First, I love the name, Buttercloud Bakery & Cafe...so cute and implies that indeed they do not skimp on butter. I am a fan of the Buttery in Santa Cruz, CA so I just had to go and check out the Buttercloud. To say the least, I was not disappointed. My boyfriend and I both try to stick to a vegitarian diet, so we went with the Zuk & Bell sandwich. I also ordered the buttercloud salad and a cup of Cheddar and Spinach soup. The Zuk & Bell sandwich was a pop, pop, pop, explosion of deliciousness! Every bite was tastetastikness! And the darn thing was made beautifully inside of a buttery, moist, crumbly BISCUIT!!! For the love of Pete! My boyfriend also ordered a side of collard greens and they were the best greens I have ever had, but don't tell my southern grandmother that. Seriously, the soup was delicious, the salad was refreshing and tasty with fresh delicious tomato's. But the creme de la creme or the butter de la butter rather was the Orange layer cake with honey butter frosting... I can never eat cake again. The Buttercloud Bakery & Cafe... Shame on you for ruining cake for me! Honestly, we are not leaving town this week without going back for one more meal. You have spoiled us. We bow to your deliciousness!!! Thank you for the yummies!

I wish I could come here more often. I love that they serve French press coffee. The food really is wonderful and thoughtfully put together. You cannot go wrong with any of the food options. The staff are very friendly and the new deck was a much welcomed addition. Buttercloud will be here for a long time to come. Welcome

YES YES and YES! Super cute place, very friendly staff. Gave us great recommendations and chatted with us about their local fare. Biscuits were outstanding. Made a fantastic cappuccino. Had the chicken and pear biscuit, with lavender cheese from Rogue Creamery. Just amazing. My friend got the pulled pork and was absolutely delighted. Messy but delish!! Has little seating though, could be really busy on the weekends. Outside seating was fun tho, can't wait for a sunny morning to come back. ABSOLUTELY will return and would highly recommend to anyone.

An Update: Really glad I gave them another try. Here's the lowdown: Today I had the Farmhouse Biscuit and cheddar-bacon scone. I also walked in and experienced first hand the ambiance and service (last time I ate their food it was takeout). It is a really cute place that is very clean and the server was very friendly. The Farmhouse is simple (bacon egg, tomato and cheese on a biscuit with Aioli sauce) and it is flavorful with a deliciously textured biscuit. The cheddar bacon scone had much more cheese than the last one I ate and was quite good. I will be back again to try more of their offerings. Great work guys!

  • Steve W.

Love this place! Friendly staff, wonderful food, local, organic produce! I had the Farmhouse, a great breakfast sandwich. Get it with sides of the house made jams (my new fave is lavender blueberry), and eat the sandwich open-faced while munching on the half biscuit with dollops of the jam... Life is good...

Six of us were looking for a quick lunch driving through Medford and came here though yelp. Absolutely awesome lunch: biscuit sandwiches were had all around, including a scramble, pulled pork, beef and blue... All were fantastic and the collards were the best I have had since leaving Georgia. Cookies reported to be great, as was the chocolate Nib brownie. I thought of the brown sugar crumble cake, but the June special was strawberry chocolate torte. The torte deserves special mention, because it was truly extraordinary.; beautiful compote (?) over a luscious chocolate later and yummy crunchy crust... And not overly chocolatey. Great place, highly commendable... Too small, limited menu and parking is right, bug on the other hand, where cans you have you order taken on an iPad, get you receipt by e,mail and use their free WI-do to write up your review!

Visited yesterday for the first time, cannot say that I will frequent here often because I don't want to have to buy bigger clothes, but it was delicious! My S.O. And I got biscuit sammies, me the green eggs and ham, him the farm, both were delicious affordable and filling and the biscuit was ridiculously good, my daughter got a giant pecan Caramel roll that was divine! Coffee was great, supports local, what's not to love?

Stopped into this place while driving through OR on my way to Portland. The place is very cute and there was a guy playing guitar for the guests - definitely seems like the kind of place I would frequent if I lived nearby. The coffee and breakfast sandwich I ordered to go was DELICIOUS! All the sandwiches come on their homemade biscuits and, man, are they tasty! Staff was super friendly too. 5 stars

Food is great but the space is cramped. During the warmer months this place would be nicer to visit because it won't be too cold for the outdoor seating. I had the cheddar bacon scone and the maple bacon cookie - both were delicious. I also asked for a shot of espresso in my hot chocolate. Not an item on the menu but wasn't a problem to order it or have it made.

I was so excited to eat lunch here and was surprised at how Bland everything tasted and in my opinion overpriced. Go check out the cupcake company.

Hands down our favorite place to eat breakfast on the weekend. This restaurant is owner-run and the owners and staff are really nice people who care about quality and consistency. Don't miss their specials board - there is an item called (I think) "The Works" that is the biscuits and gravy with ham and a perfectly fried egg on top. Get it with a side of southern collard greens. What a treat! And the french press coffee is so smooth and delish. Their desserts are seasonally fresh and amazing. Friend them on Facebook to see all the latest offerings.

Such a great spot to stop and sit outside for a mocha and breakfast sandwich!! I am a chocolate chip cookie fanatic and the maple bacon chocolate chip cookie is so tasty and unique, a definite must try!!!

I ordered the Zuke & Bell biscuit sandwich, brewtopia, and shared the bacon cheddar scone and oatmeal cookie with my husband. The sandwich was nothing to write home about, which really surprised me. The brewtopia was absolutely amazing! The bacon cheddar scone was delicious as well as the oatmeal cookie. Next time, I'd definitely like to try the maple bacon cookie. My advice is to stick with the coffee based drinks and pastries.

Stopped by on my road trip week. Fantastic customer service, inside looked great, the coffee is THE BEST and the food? Wonderful! brownies were amazing as well. Biscuits were light and fluffy, the jam was incredible. I don't get the negative reviews for the price, but then again, I'm from L.A. The quality of the food seemed well worth it. Next time I'm in southern Oregon I'll be sure to stop by and stock up on yummies.

I was really excited to try this new little spot but left highly disappointed. The dining room is not well utilized and there is very limited seating. More importantly the food...I had the Rogue Valley smoked cheddar mac and cheese and the chicken biscuit sandwich. The mac and cheese had little to no flavor besides the taste of smokiness, it needed salt severly and a regular sharp cheddar, it was also over filled with bread crumbs. I took two or three bites of this item and couldnt eat anymore. The chicken biscuit sandwich followed in the footsteps of the m&c. The chicken had no flavor and was very chewy, the biscuit was very dry, I also could not finsih this item. It was overall a very disappointing experience and I will not be a returning customer.

LOVE this place :) I heard about it here on Yelp, and after looking at the online menu, I have been wanting to go here for a few weeks. I talked my sister into going to Buttercloud with me today, and we decided to split a Poultry with Pear and a side order of the Smokey Mac and Cheese. O M G They were both AMAZING. Really, really good. The biscuit was good, but the chicken, cheese and fruit on it were sooooooo yummy. The one thing I didn't like was that, for a $7 sandwich, it's a little bit on the small side. A biscuit that's a little bit bigger would probably make people feel better about it :P It would also be AMAZING if they had gravy, too. I would TOTALLY dump gravy on that thing and eat it with a knife and fork, then die of happiness. The mac and cheese was REALLY good. Just the right amount of smokey flavor, and the pasta isn't soggy. I loooved the breadcrumbs on the top. You also get a pretty decent amount at $4 a plate. I can't wait to go back and try their cheddar-bacon scone and coffee. The location is a little unexpected (down a residential street), but the cafe itself is SUPER cute. My sister and I loved their giant Mason jar water dispenser, and I'm pretty sure that the handsoap in the bathroom is homemade (yes, I notice that stuff lol). There aren't a whole lot of tables, but there is a bar by the window, and a table as well as a bench outside, which will be nice during the summer. Parking isn't great, but there's a bigger parking lot across the street. All in all, I am a fan :)

Excellent hot chocolate and yummy bakery treats. Downside is the sandwiches were overpriced for such a small portion. When you order a biscuit for $1.50 it should come with butter and jam, not cost $1.50 extra! They need to make the biscuits bigger. Will come back but probably not for a meal, just for a sweet treat/snack.

This is a great place to grab a bite as well as a bakery for cakes and pastries. Their biscuit sandwiches are delicious! Coffee is strong and yummy. The cake I ordered for a birthday was moist and flavorful and everyone complimented the choice. I love sitting outdoors in the sun on the cute patio.

Pretty good. Little expensive but it's a slightly more upscale breakfast made from scratch. French press coffee is very good. I would go back.

Love yelp for finding local spots like this. Overnight in Medford during long road trip and wanted a non-fastfood breakfast (since there are no chikfila's around!) Instead, we scored ginormous homemade biscuit sandwiches and french press coffee. Delicious!

Buttercloud was a perfect find for our road trip stop. The works breakfast was delicious and plenty. We even took baked goods and stuff for later. Probably won't be up this way for a while but when we do we won't miss a chance to stop here. Staff was so nice, it was like the icing on the cake.

Super good food and service. What else can I say? These folks are the best in every way. Not only is the food superb but the friendly atmosphere and good service is the icing on the proverbial cake. To make it even better, they are also very community minded and give back to local causes. This makes them the " trifecta" of business perfection in my mind. Good food, good service, good neighbors

Had breakfast there Sunday morning. So darn good! Even what I believe were farm fresh eggs and REAL maple syrup! The French press coffee was amazing. Will go again and again:)

Love this place! I know the signature is their biscuit, just wish they had a little more variety. Good chai.

I picked up a couple of scones to go and they were both outstanding. The bacon and cheddar had big chunks of bacon and plenty of cheese nicely incorporated into a flakey, biscuity large scone. The banana walnut scone was even better, with rich banana flavor and nice chunks of walnut. It was very moist and had similarities to good banana bread. Top tier for scones and the service was fast and delightful. I'm really glad I stopped in here while I was in Medford.

Really like this place and very excited to see it come to Medford. We unfortunately got there just as the last two biscuits went to make someone else's sandwiches, but that just forced us to try some other stuff on the menu. Guy said they are working on the supply/demand part and so far sounds like demand has outpaced the supply. We tried their mac n' cheese (regular and chipotle), a bacon/cheddar scone (this time WE got the last one), special of the day salad (greens, avocado, pine nuts, and orange), and two beers. They had some great local bottled beer options (Caldera, Deschutes, Full Sail, and Cascade Lakes) but it would have been awesome if they had one on tap. I know most people won't be going in there for beer, but how cool would that be!? The food was really good...salad was flavorful and the bacon/cheddar scone was as awesome as you'd expect a scone w/bacon and cheddar in it to be. The mac n' cheese....I've had better but definitely have had worse. The chipotle mac had a great spice to it but neither were "oh wow". The shop itself has a great feel to it already and they've only been open a few days. The owners were also super friendly and welcoming. Might suggest a few old comfy chairs by the window, and loved the old doors as tables. I think they either need to increase the size of the biscuits by 20% or drop the biscuit sandwich price by 20%...we were after all just named the 5th brokest town in the county! But even for similar places in Seattle and Portland that use local, sustainable, etc. etc. ingredients, the price point seems high. Regardless, we'll be back for sure but unless the biscuit sandwiches knock our socks off, we might just stick to the other more appropriately prices items.

I love the idea of all these different ways to have a biscuit. It's similar to Pine State up in Portland. I've had a few different things now--the French toast plate, the peanut butter, honey, and bananas biscuit, and the scrambled egg with Rogue Creamery Rosemary Cheddar biscuit. All have been tasty. They can get a little crowded and so they suggested to order your food at the counter and by the time the food is ready, there should be a spot to sit. It's a cute cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. I'm dying to go back and try their other baked goods.

Just finished a wonderful fresh breakfast at the Buttercloud. The hot chocolate was smooth, rich, creamy and not too sweet, and topped with real whipped cream straight from the bowl. The homemade Chai was perfect, slightly sweet with a perfect blend of spices. The food was just as good and the atmosphere was welcoming. Our whole family enjoyed the banter with the owners as my daughter lit up the corner like a disco ball. Our Family was welcomed and comfortable. We drive from Cali to Oregon a few times a year and this will be a permanent stop for us.

I have eaten here three times -- two on the weekends around brunch time and once during the week before 11:00 a.m. Both weekend experiences were great - food was hot, fresh, and served quickly; especially considering each item is cooked to order other than baked goods. Cinnamon Crumb Coffee Cake is yummy -- sweet, home-baked fresh, generous portion, and goes well with their salads (helps justify the coffee cake as far as the diet goes - ha!). Three stars and A-OK rating is due to most recent experience that was this week when I arrived shortly before 11:00 a.m. I had a 12 p.m. appointment and thought I had more than enough time to order, eat, and cruise to my appointment that was about 8 minutes away -- WRONG! My order - the biscuit with scrambled egg, spinach, and horseradish aioli and ham slice took over 40 minutes to be delivered. I waited so long, I had time to count customers waiting along with me -- two on the deck, party of 3 w/child inside, another party of 2 and one couple who came in to purchase baked goods and left. Meanwhile, I kept stealing glances at the young woman who was standing over the grill - standing, standing, standing. At one point near the 35-minute mark, the other young woman who was at a station next to the grill, stepped in while the first woman said, "I'm not sure, but I think I messed up." I'm not sure what happened either except orders began leaving the kitchen area soon after - party of 3 w/child were served, twosome on the deck were served and then my biscuit item arrived. All was fresh, but tepid - not warm, tepid. My sympathies to the young woman who seemed to be challenged by the task and my appreciation to her teammate who stepped in to help out. I am hopeful this was an 'off day.' We all have them, but we cannot afford to have them too often. I ate 1/2 my biscuit, took the rest to go and finished it as I crossed town and the many stop lights along the way. Four stars if the next visit is as good as the first two.

I had the Farm House Biscuit, a cup of French Roast Coffee, & a Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookie for $10. The Farm House ( Fried Egg, Tomato, & Bacon biscuit ) was just "Alright". I'd prefer McDonalds bacon & egg biscuit because it's cheaper and doesn't taste much different other than the tomato. The coffee was exactly what I expected, French Roast goodness and the cookie was delicious. If I'm in the area again, I will return but only for coffee and dessert. I think the biscuits are over rated & over priced.

Fabulous spot that we found while traveling through Oregon. The Butter in Buttercloud should be taken seriously. Everything we sampled and ordered was butter-riffic in a good way! The way that adds flakiness and moisture to a biscuit or pure chocolate to a brownie. Specifically, we ordered a steak/blue cheese sandwich on a butter biscuit. The steak was perfectly tender and the blue cheese was from a local award winning producer. For desert we shared a brownie with cocoa nibs. Totally amazing. Everything found in the bakery is sourced locally and made from scratch. There are no short cuts in this spot. Well worth the stop and I plan on making regular trips to this little Butter perfect world!

Ok, let's come down to earth off of the Buttercloud bandwagon. We visited Buttercloud soon after it opened months ago and were not impressed...see my review on Trip Advisor. Since that time this place has apparently become the spot to eat in Medford...or so it seems if you read the Yelp reviews. I had to go back and see what all the fuss is about. Unfortunately, I stand by my initial review...ehh...that's it. Not much to crow about, although the French press coffee was decent. We had the biscuits and found them to be average at best. The jam, which was an extra cost, tasted as though the plums were beyond ripe and were infused with spices to mask the plum flavor. I suppose that we will bid adios to the Buttercloud. Hope you have better luck there than we have had.

We got there too late to have sandwiches but we were able to still order soup and salad/sides. The staff was wonderful. The biscuits came with the salad and were delightful just wish there was another option besides $1.00 for jam (although I am sure it is wonderful). Really cute building.

I was driving my daughter to school at the University of Oregon, and we stopped in Medford along the way. Breakfast at Buttercloud Bakery was my favorite meal on the trip! The cafe is cute and welcoming, and so was the staff. I had the scramble with rosemary cheddar, and my daughter had the biscuit with peanut butter, banana and honey. Both were great--but very filling. The chai was delicious and the oj was fresh. We look forward to coming back the next time we drive through!

Wow, from LA and checked the reviews before stopping by for a Chili Chicken sandwich. Amazing good, great open atmosphere and service. Prices better than average considering the quality. I will stop by when in town again. Went at lunchtime and wondering why not real crowded. It you want it to stay open be sure to reward the quality of food with patronage.

Delicious biscuits! This place is bright, clean, and minimally decorated. The menu is diverse and the coffee is great. Had the "local" special and was hoping for a little more acid to balance out all the chicken and biscuit, but was still quite pleased with my breakfast.

Buttercloud's biscuits TASTE like a cloud of butter! They are light and fluffy but absolutely melt in your mouth. They have amazing sandwiches and a decent array of caffeinated beverages. They use mostly local ingredients, and cheeses from Rogue Creamery (one of my favorite places!) All in all, I would say this is going to become one of our staple brunch and lunch places!

Loved the biscuit sandwiches. Service was great. Very clean. Simple decor. I will go back next time we are in town! Cons: very small eating area. Pros: the owner is cool and friendly.

Trust the reviews and go to this place. We shared a French press of coffee (delicious) and split a green eggs and ham sandwich (best breakfast sandwich I've ever had) and a peppered bacon gravy and biscuits. Perfect servings (not too huge), nice people working, great prices. Definitely stop by there again.

Best latte and biscuit sandwiches ever!! We were so thrilled to find this little piece of culinary heaven nestled in an out of the way neighborhood of Medford on our way back home to WA from CA. The stellar staff prepared for us not only the perfect 2 shot, non-fat, hazelnut latte, but the most scrumptious biscuit sandwiches we've ever eaten. Both the Farmhouse and Beef & Blue (for which they kindly subbed chevre for the blue) could not have been better. The Farmhouse egg was perfectly over easy and the roast beef on the Beef & Blue was the best I've had in any sandwich anywhere - ever. The yummy mac & cheese and the fantastic baked beans were tasty compliments. And what can we say about the biscuits that hasn't already been said? Pure Biscuit Bliss - comes close to doing them justice.

Quaint place where the food was delicious and atmosphere was just as good. Menu is different than anywhere else. They are known for their biscuits and they are mouth watering good. My daughter had the French Toast (made from the biscuits) and she craves them now. You won't be disappointed and we can't wait to return

I have been here on several occasions now, for work as well as pleasure. This is a quaint cafe' with indoor and outdoor seating. The general customer base is pretty diverse and friendly, as well as their staff. I love the fact that their drinks are served in mason jars, as well as having a mini recycling station (thing) set up for when customers are done with their meal. It gives some responsibility to the customers, and in a way it kind of brings everyone together, like you were eating at home. I have tried to stray from my favorite sandwich... The "Beef and Bleu" which is delicious, so I haven't been able to try their other meals... I wish that this particular sandwich had a bit more Bleu cheese on it. But I'm sure they would accommodate my wishes should I ask. This has been a good establishment to bring clients or a friend. I will of course refer anyone there who's looking for a homemade taste with a little Oregon Flare!

The best biscuits in the world. The place is great. However the wait can be long and its quite busy at breakfast and lunch. I ordered the PBJ biscuit and could not even finish it. It was so good and rich and full of PBJ that it was too much for me. Thats all a good review!

Read the yelp reviews and picked up breakfast here before we headed home to NorCal. Ordered "The Works" and the one with zucchini. The gravy on the works=yummy. Both choices were delicious. Menu leans on the spendy side especially for portion you get but quality is outstanding. It's worth a try when in Medford for breakfast. Parking is kind of sucky and be prepared for a little wait on your food.

Best breakfast EVER!! We stopped here for breakfast on our way to Seattle and it was delicious. The service here is amazing they are all so sweet and on top of everything. The french press coffee is a must, and the biscuits are to die for! You have to try the biscuits and gravy, and the french toast biscuit, and the eggs are fresh. We ended up back here again on our trip back from Seattle because it was so good. This will definitely be a stop for us next summer when we are passing through.

We came during a lunch rush so we had to wait a long while for our food (30 minutes worth) but once we got our food it was quite delicious. The only problem I had was that they are a small store and therefore only have two people cooking. If they just bumped that number up to four they could double the speed of orders being made. If it's not very busy you should definitely stop here

  • Marissa G.

Hands down, best breakfast in the Rogue Valley. The staff is always friendly and nice, even when they are crazy busy (which is almost always), and the food arrives fairly quickly considering it is made from scratch and they are serving a lot of people at once. I always get a rogue scramble with bacon because it is incredibly delicious and features cheese from another favorite place of mine, Rogue Creamery, and really no breakfast is complete without bacon! My husband always orders the biscuits and gravy (with bacon) which is also amazingly delicious. Whenever my in-laws visit from out of town, we bring them here and now they love it as much as I do! If you haven't eaten here, I definitely recommend it (although I would suggest going on a weekday when it is not as busy!).

A little pricey for a biscuit sandwich but the lemonade is super tart and amazing and their scone and gravy are yummy as heck. Staff is also super nice and decor is cute as heck.

This place is yummy! It gets packed early, so we don't go as often as we should. I had the Zukenbell (sp?), so good. Fresh ingredients and honestly, who doesn't love homemade biscuits? The place is a tad on the small side, and the patio fills up quick. We've seen people bring their dogs, so it's nice that its pet friendly. It's a must try for good breakfast food. You won't be disappointed.

This is something we need in LA or Long beach! I have to say the homemade biscuit is over the top . The ppl who work there was helpful and very nice, it's always lovely to walk into a big smile . Their bakery goodies is like heaven (hands down on that.) Thank you guys for giving me the best experience can't wait to go back home and spread the word in Kali !

The Point: Eat here, or you missed out. Biscuits are reliably moist, meals are consistently delicious, & they offer french press coffee. Order at the counter, then find a seat. Dog friendly on the porch (about 4 tables out front) :) .

This is my favorite place to eat in southern Oregon. I probably go about once a week. They have an amazing and unique menu they often use local ingredients, and make everything in house. Plus the service is great. It can be pretty busy early in the morning, especially on weekends but from what I have seen it starts to calm down after 11. I really would suggest this place to anyone, and if your just swinging through the valley it's a must! They have food, dessert, coffee, etc. If you don't have time to wait order or pickup.

  • Ruthie N.

I must say, this place is very cute! Great outside seating for when the weather permits. The parking is lacking, but you can always part on the street or at the parking lot across the street. The employees are always friendly and service is with a smile. They have samples of their biscuits at the counter and it's always hard not to eat the entire plate! It's a walk-up and order type of place. Once you get your order, they give you a number and you pick your own table. So let's talk about the food, shall we? First off, the biscuits. They're pretty awesome. Fluffy and buttery, but not TOO buttery. They are perfect for sandwiches. My favorite has I be the Beef and Blue, which has the famous Rogue Creamery bleu cheese. I also like their biscuits toasted with peanut butter and bananas. The warmed peanut butter oozing all over the biscuit....mmmmm Their biscuits are also good simply toasted with one of their house-made jams (any jam, just pick a jam). They have other baked good such as the addicting coffee cake and cocoa nibs brownies! So gooood! They do have a dessert menu that changes monthly. So it's a nice surprise every 30 days :) So if you're in Medford and can't decide what to have for breakfast, check out this little cute place

The coffee here is great and the staff solid. Warning: this place is crazy busy, so be prepared to fight for a table on weekends. Highly recommend the brewtopia! Their regular coffee is also some of the best around. If you are hungry, the Farmhouse is very good and their baked goods are fantastic.

We have eaten here many times since my original post and I have to say that I never been let down. Last weekend I went with two new people and they were both thrilled with their meals. The staff was very friendly, the coffee (french press) was delicious, and the biscuits were fluffy and balanced with their fillings. We never felt rushed and the outdoor seating was perfect for an early summer morning.

I came here on a gloomy Saturday around noon. There weren't any lines, but I could see how this small cafe can get potentially crowded during brunch. The layout is very cute, and service so friendly. I was ravenous for my first meal of the day after working out, so I ordered the mixed greens salad, Zuke & Bell sandwich, and Blue Sky chai with soy milk. The wait to get my order was about 30 minutes, but I didn't mind. In the meantime I browsed the small table with ads and homemade collage envelopes that the cafe was selling. The mixed greens salad was delicious! The portion is also great for its price, but it could do without the blue cheese. My Zuke and Bell sandwich was also very good, especially because of that homemade romesco sauce. I probably shouldn't have ordered two dishes with cheese, but I nevertheless enjoyed my big meal. I've never tried biscuits so fluffy that melted in my mouth. I can safely say the name of this cafe is very fitting for the food it serves.

  • Haley C.

The biscuits are absolutely worth five stars. The sandwiches are by default amazing due to the biscuits. The soup was disappointingly not hot and thinner than a chowder should be, or this place would have gotten a glowing five stars. Definitely amazing little cafe. We'll be back.

The food here is awesome, always. But, I could use bigger portions. I do admit leaving still hungry after a meal. And the price is a bit high. Love the atmosphere inside and out!

Easily one of the best breakfasts in the Rogue Valley. I don't usually like biscuits unless they're doused with gravy, but the biscuits they make here for their biscuit sandwiches are so good, you don't need gravy: they come out hot, with the crust the perfect amount of crisp, and moist on the inside. Because the biscuits are so good, you can order any sandwich, and it will be good. Nothing else needs to be said: biscuits so good, gravy not required. How awesome is that?

Stopped by here on the way from Crater Lake to Ashland and boy am I glad we did. The Zuke and Bell sandwich was outstanding (it inspired me to try to make it at home). The taste of the veggies was great and it was served on a biscuit. I savored every bite. My wife really enjoyed her salad and the bagged brownie bits made for continuing this wonderful experience on the road.

Great little cheery place with a simple yet delicious menu. Everything I've ever had here was fantastic. The desserts especially are amazing. I never even liked cake before eating here, now I make it a point to try their monthly special every time. I'm BAFFLED when people say its expensive. I can get a "homemade" fresh, local, whole foods sandwhich there for $6. That's less than a regular size burger meal at McDonald's... and FAR less than other trendy bakeries/cafes in the area (HELLO $9 turkey sandwich at Pony Espresso!) Likewise I'm puzzled by complaints about the portion s. I'm not exactly known for a dainty appetite and yet I can never finish an entire sandwhich. I usually give half my biscuit to someone else. But complaints about seating and wait time are totally valid. You have to go here during off-peak hours and avoid weekends. Even when they are slow you sometimes wait a weirdly long time for what amounts to scrambled eggs and bacon. But the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff make it worthwhile anyway.

  • Ob S.

Incredible food, despite that I don't particularly like biscuits. However! I couldn't give BC five stars due to the very limited seating and subsequent wait times. (I guess that's the trade off for switching buildings with Great Harvest!) Beautiful presentation and consistently yummy.

I've been to Buttercloud many times and have never been disappointed in the food! The only negative is it is a small building and always crowded, so be ready to wait! It's worth the wait through!

Just what you don't want when you go out for breakfast on a Sunday morning: pressure to hurry up. I'm sad to say we don't plan on returning to Buttercloud, ever. We've been Buttercloud regulars since they opened, eating there once or twice a month. The food is expensive for what you get but it's very good. High-quality, fresh, local ingredients and amazing desserts. I've never gotten a warm, welcoming vibe from the staff but the service has always been fine, until this morning. There were no inside tables when we got there so we sat down at a table on the deck. While we were deciding what to order the waitress came over to tell us that people were in line ahead of us placing their orders with no place to sit so we should hurry up and order. My husband got in line to place our order but apparently it was too late; the waitress came back over to tell us we would have to get up and give the table to someone who had already ordered. She wanted us to place our order and stand around waiting until we got our food, then we would be eligible for the next available table. Um, no. Obviously they have outgrown their tiny space and that's a good problem to have. Good for them, I guess. They've got hipsters lined up to stand around on a Sunday morning with no place to sit. The wait staff doesn't seem to care if you're offended that they kicked you out; someone else will take your table right away and one customer is as good as another. Perhaps they should just start handing over the biscuits in a paper wrapper for people to eat in their cars. We're done. I would recommend Pony Espresso instead.

The Staff at this little quaint location is really what makes this place shine, The Owner , Mr . Gibson H. and Staffers Nicole , and Mariah are especially stellar with customer service, even if you are picky and have a long drawnout order! I almost always have a more complicated order and they are always glad to accommodate it ! They have amazing prices and great homemade food, and let's not forget lots of lovely yummy baked goods! Obviously you must try the biscuit, and any of their baked goods ( they usually run a Dessert of the Month ); try the Salad too ! They use many local products in their down-home cooking! They make homemade granola too , so make sure to grab a bag of that. Their Jams are delicious , ( Pro tip , ask for a side of Jam to swirl unto your Cupcakes when they make them ) . I honestly wish that they had longer hours ( though I should add , that when I come in towards closing times , which has been more then once , they have gladly taken my order without making me feel awful for coming in so late ) and offered some sort of Dinner option too . If you are in Medford you will definitely not regret your experience stopping in and nibbling here !

100% Yelpalicious: sleek, chic, and absolutely delicious. [BACKGROUND] Looking for something off the freeway on a roadtrip, and of course I was browsing on Yelp. This popped up and the stellar reviews grabbed my attention. [AMBIANCE] The open and airy feel with plenty of sunlight pouring through large windows, coupled with the name "Buttercloud" makes you feel like you're in heaven. There is ample outside seating on wire patio furniture, and the inside seating consists of a few large tables as well as high chairs facing the window. It's an open kitchen, and surprise, it actually looks like a kitchen. In fact, I've never seen a restaurant kitchen look so much like a home kitchen before. [SERVICE] I was clearly a tourist, but their friendly service and genuine interest in conversation made me feel like a local regular. [FOOD] For 2 hungry people, we ordered: CHICKEN & CHILE BISCUIT $6.75 (Chicken breast, cilantro mayo, roasted poblano pepper, Tillamook pepper jack cheese, tomato): has a nice kick to it, and not too cheesy if you don't like the strong, intense taste of blue cheese. BEEF & BLUE BISCUIT $6.75 (Beef brisket, housemade tomato chile jam, Rogue Creamery Smokey Blue Cheese): 'nuff said. Could not ask for a better sandwich. SMOKY MAC N CHEESE $4.50 (with Rogue Creamery Smokey Touvelle cheese): must try! It's interesting because the penne pasta for "macaroni" are stacked so it looks something like a beehive. The cheese on the inside is warm and melted, while the top is wonderfully browned and crunchy. Very cheesy though, so quite filling. [TIPS] - There's a private lot, though it's small so parking can get difficult. - Self-serve water is on your right, served in mason jars - I realize my tips section is not very useful, because the servers were so nice and helpful! No need to do your homework and look up secret tips on Yelp. [CONCLUSION] The biscuit sandwiches lean on the pricy side, but definitely worth trying. If you don't know already, Rogue Creamery is a local, high-end cheese store. I would recommend anything on the menu with ingredients from Rogue. At this rate, Buttercloud is definitely going to have the Yelp effect, with insecure urbanite tourists flocking to this Yelp gem instead of exploring review-deprived businesses. But the unique vibe and memorable food truly merit 5 stars. PS They even serve something named "Green eggs and ham"! Omg...

Biscuits from edible heaven? Meeyess. Bacon seduces, eggs reminisce, and goat cheese gives me goosebumps?! Okay - I tried and failed at a blushing intro. Moral of the story is this spot is hot! Fat/hardy biscuits topped or sandwiched with delicious items are worth the stop. Digs: Open kitchen scene, where you can view the happenings of your breakfast or brunch treat. There's tables, but it gets cumbersome during the winter months since outside seating is not the best environment to relax in jack frost temperatures Food: As a rookie start with the Farmhouse. It's a nice intro to what they do best - biscuits. Can I say biscuits enough? What I'm gathering from drooling over the menu is they stick to the natural/ local ingredients which is very refreshing in a fast-food heavy city. Ate: Rare - French Biscuit Plate, spin on French toast, topped with local strawberries goat cheese (chevre), classic eggs + bacon combo Drank: Mimosa - Freshly squeezed orange/ champagne they say, and I believed it. Delightful. Bonus: In the same fam as Pine State Biscuits via Portland. Charm, health-conscious fare

Went here a few times when visiting Or - top notch food- love the biscuits here, and the great breakfast sandwiches. Gets a bit crowded, which is the only bummer because I always feel a little rushed. They're right at that magic cusp of expansion, or keep it simple and thrive with the space they got. I wish they'd expand, but not, of course, at the expense of their awesome menu & coffee.

I was visiting a friend in Medford and she told me we HAD to go here before I left. I am so glad that we did! We got there and the place was definitely busy. You order at the counter and then take your seat. I could tell from the line on a weekday that this place was the real deal. I ordered "The Farmer" biscuit breakfast sandwich, and my friend and I shared a veggie hash. The biscuit was buttery and flaky. The filling was a perfectly cooked egg, a healthy slice of tomato, and a flavor punch from the basil aioli. The sandwich was delicious, but the two things that put this place over the top for me was the coffee and the veggie hash. I ordered a regular cup of coffee and was delighted to find out that it was french pressed. The veggie hash was so flavorful! The veggies rotate by what is available fresh. This time it had crispy seasoned kale. I could not get enough of that hash. Definitely a crave-able dish! If you are in Medford come here for a delicious breakfast that you can't get anywhere else. So good!

This place was great! But crowded but I guess that is what we get going early in a Sunday morning Great biscuits! And great coffee! Loved this place! Definately will have to hit this place up the next time we're passing through

Back for some more...totally worth the 35 minute wait. They're known for their killer biscuits and amazing Frech press coffee. The peach tart though was my absolute FAVORITE. Today I refuse to count calories, fat or carbs! I know I will pay for it ha!! For the love of food!

What's all the hype for? Sure, this place is pretty cute with its shelf of homemade jam ($7) and modest but homey decor. But, after eating my Chicken & Chile sandwich (e.g., on a buttermilk biscuit), I was confused by others' orgasmic pleasure. What about the biscuits is so great? They are by no means bad in any way, but they do not stand out in my memory either. Rather, they taste like any other (decent) biscuit I have ever had, including ones I have made from those cans in the grocery store. In fact, the only "amazing" biscuit I have ever had was in the Blue Mountains of Australia, and this is a far cry from that! But, to be fair, that one also had the most amazing jelly on the side, and everything was so fresh and just melted in my mouth... Maybe a savory sandwich on a salty biscuit just isn't the right idea? Maybe a honey-balsamic dressing would have helped? Anyway... What about the rest of the sandwich? Well, the size of it was fairly modest--think European or the size you might get at a place that serves all organic, locally-sourced foods. Granted, $7 for the sandwich wasn't a bad price (I'm used to LA pricing), but the size and lack of sides (save for three slices of pickle) left something to be desired--especially given the average biscuit and the bland sliver of chicken on my sandwich. For the girl who thinks most things are too salty, I will say... season your chicken (and add a bit more, please)! The poblano slab on top gave the sandwich some flavor, as did the very thin (add more, please) spreading of cilantro mayo and slice of pepperjack. But, overall, the sandwich was pretty blah and needs some work. Granted, the work required isn't much--more seasoning, more chicken, maybe a balsamic honey glaze, and perhaps a little mini side of fruit or something other than pickles, and this place would easily earn more of my stars. Oh, and as for the strawberry balsamic jam, it's pretty good. It's a little different than Smuckers, as it has a hint of balsamic and cloves, but is a very "safe" choice for those who fear it would be too gourmet. In fact, my gift recipient couldn't taste the fanciness at all. One warning though: this "jam" is actually a jar of chunky preserves rather than jam. So, if you don't like chunks and expect the smoothness of jam, skip it. Bottom line: Thank the good cooks in your family for showing you how good food can really be and the small changes one can make to go from bland to brilliant. I trust the good chefs here will heed this advice and soon get the star of approval from folks like me.

My family needed some place to go to breakfast, so we chose Buttercloud Bakery and Café because it was the highest rated breakfast place in Medford. In my opinion it was an okay establishment. The chai almost blew my mind it was so good, I loved the spices they used, and the fresh squeezed orange juice was excellent! Coffee was a solid 3/5. We waited for 35 minutes for our biscuits and gravy to arrive, and they weren't all that special, also, a little cold. It's a really cute place, with fabulous drinks, but everything else is a bit of a whatever.

  • Neyba H.

BEWARE: All they serve are biscuit sandwiches, so if somebody in you group is not into them, go somewhere else. This place is the foodie version the fast food breakfast sandwich: a buttery biscuit with something great in the middle. All the good stuff is for their special Saturday and Sunday menu, so don't expect it outside those days. Minus 1 star 'cause we went there on a national holiday hoping to get some of the great stuff they post online on their weekend menu, nope, regular Monday menu is what we found. :( Biscuits sandwiches were good, Farmhouse was great. They don't have a kids menu, but biscuit w/ peanut butter, banana and honey sealed the deal with my little one.

I have found my new favorite breakfast joint in Medford! Forget Shari's and Elmers... The Buttercloud Bakery & Cafe is where it's at! I went on Sunday morning with my mother and my daughter. We got there around 9:30. It looks like a regular down-home cafe, with a modern touch. The staff was very friendly, and we got our drinks quickly. My mom and I both ordered The Works: biscuits, ham, gravy, two eggs, and bacon. Ohhhh my god, I've never had such awesome biscuits. It was delicious! My mom ordered a cappuccino, and I got the chai latte. It was a bit spicier than I'm used to, but the staff made sure to tell me that. It was great after I added some milk. My daughter had the biscuits, peanut butter, bananas, and honey. She is a picky eater, and never eats much in one sitting. It was gone within twenty minutes. If you order the kids' hot chocolate, be sure to tell them to add some cold milk because it was too hot for her to drink right away. The prices are very reasonable, the food is great, I highly recommend this place!!!

3.5 stars Great food. Overpriced for having to bus your own table and have counter service. Much too small, so probably 4 out of every 5 times we attempt to visit here we have to go elsewhere bc of so little seating. And I still don't understand why a biscuit place wouldn't offer biscuits and gravy every day they are open...

We came here on a Sunday morning after staying the night in Medford. We tried to get there right after they opened, and we had little to no wait. The atmosphere of the bakery is very homey, and the staff was more than helpful. I tried the Green Eggs and Ham biscuit and the mac and cheese, both of which they halved for me and my husband to share. The mac and cheese was pretty good, but not the best I have ever had. They use Rogue cheese in it, which is made just down the street at Rogue Creamery. The biscuit was amazing. It really reminded me of the biscuits I used to make with my mom as kid. Very fluffy and flavorful. With eggs, spinach, and a horseradish sauce, the biscuit sandwich was excellent. I would be happy to try their many other sandwich offerings. My husband and I also split the French press, our first ever. It was really good! I usually don't like black coffee much, but Buttercloud's was not bitter at all.

In town on business and wanted to find a place 'where the locals eat.' Yelp came through again by pointing out this place. The biscuits are what biscuits should be; light, a little flaky, and absolutely delicious. I had the beef & blue - awesome! I then decided to go for broke and try a plain biscuit with butter and jam to see how they stand on their own. Again, a great biscuit with savory sweet, salty, real butter and homemade raspberry jam. This would be a hard 5 stars but I'm not a big fan of counter service and busing my own table.

I cant even tell you how delicious this was. I am not a fan of biscuit sandwiches. I find them heavy and overly filling. But the FarmHouse I think it is called is A-MAZING. This delicious aioli, bacon, tomato and a delicious egg. The biscuit...OH THE BISCUIT was so good. I find that a lot of bakery/cafes that have good food dont have god coffee but this place has the whole enchilada! GO THERE NOW!

Stopped here on a road trip up north and boy I'm glad I did! Had the Farmhouse sandwich which was fresh, delicious, and completely satisfying all at the same time! It was like having a full country breakfast all packed nicely into a small breakfast sandwich. The place was small and quaint and the staff was overly friendly and attentive. Dropping by on a Monday was nice as they've recently expanded their hours to opening on Mondays and word hasn't gotten out yet apparently.

I was so disappointed in this place that I had to write my first review. I stopped in mid afternoon on a Monday looking for cupcakes for my children. There was only one left in the case but the lady at the counter said that they had some in back they just need to frost them. As I waited for them I saw another worker scrape frosting off some other cupcakes and fill a piping bag with this frosting. They proceeded to frost my order of cupcakes with the used frosting, I was disappointed but running late and figured I would just let it go. Once we got home and I went to hand out the cupcakes the frosting was dripping off the cupcakes and looked horrible. All of this could be looked past if the cupcakes even tasted halfway decent. They were ridiculously dry and had the texture of cornbread, the frosting in addition to being runny had hardly any flavor. Even my children would not eat these. I'm not sure if we just came on an off day or what but I will not be spending 2.50 per cupcake again there.

Went to this wonderful place over the weekend and it was wonderful! The wait time is a little long but the food and French press coffee were divine and totally worth the wait!! They were so helpful with our large party but I wouldn't really recommend going there with a party larger than 6 because we ended up just feeling bad with our party of 8!! Haha! Thank you for a great brunch Buttercloud and your wonderful staff.

Such a lovely little place to grab breakfast on a roadtrip! We were on a long drive from Portland to SF, and stopped in Medford to visit Rogue Creamery and grab some breakfast. Good ol' yelp did me right and helped us discover the deliciousness that is Buttercloud Bakery and Cafe. Here's the thing, they make biscuits, so do yourself a favor and get the biscuits. The hubbs and I ordered the beef and bleu (brisket, Rogue creamery bleu cheese, tomato jam, on a biscuit) and a regular biscuit with butter and homemade raspberry jam. Dang! That beef and bleu was the business!! Well balanced, and the bleu cheese complimented the beef and biscuit perfectly. Suddenly I wanted to eat all future biscuits with blue cheese. The biscuit by itself with butter and homemade jam was sublime as well. We were lucky that we came on a week day so it wasn't crowded, but if you do come on a weekend, be prepared for a bit of a wait I'm told. Makes a great stop to or from Portland!

Stopped in for breakfast at random around Easter- & lemme tell you, I'm glad I stopped in. Their bacon cheddar scone is light & airy, with a nice, big 'confetti' of bacon & chunks of cheese. The clambering of salty & sweet was just right & flaked off nicely, like a biscuit. Then their 'blue sky' chai- it was frothy & delicious! Not too sweet, hot & kept in a cute blue mug. I also made sure not to miss out on grabbing one of their hot-crossed buns- the last one on display- which wasn't bad, especially as it wasn't too sweet. Overall, it was a lively experience for under $10! Definitely would recommend coming here ^_^

Very good! Great, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Some independently owned cafe/bistro type places TRY to create a certain feel and cohesion with their menu and atmosphere, but fall short. That is certainly not the case with buttercloud. Everything worked! From the vintage type decor, to the use of local ingredients. Speaking of ingredients, the food was fantastic! Biscuit sandwiches, you might ask? Trust me. It works, and it works well. The flavors all worked wonderfully together. I will definitely return when I'm in Medford in the future.

I'm so glad that Buttercloud is a solid 4+ hour drive from anywhere I'll ever live, because as it is, I'm clinging to the very last threads of my skinny jeans, dangling over the cliff of potential obesity, and an accessible Buttercloud would be my imminent undoing. Aptly named, this cafe must use unimaginable amounts of fresh cream butter. The biscuits are the most amazing I've ever eaten. The breakfast sandwiches are pretty small, but so hearty and satisfying. My friend and I ventured over here from nearby Talent at about 10am on a Sunday, and there was a good 15-20 minute wait. We were given delicious espresso drinks while we waited, and there was an option for incredible large french press coffee as well. The smells were delightful. There was also some wacky old dude playing guitar and singing loudly right in the middle of the very small cafe, just to the right of the registers. We chose to sit outside on the sunny deck and enjoy our drinks out there while waiting. We got to listen to some wacko religious nut start flipping out about redemption or something, which was fairly entertaining also, but a relief when she and her disciples left. In summary, 1)amazing, heavenly breakfast and 2)amazing, terrifying people-watching.

Saw ratings on Yelp and Came here for breakfast to see what all the rage was about. We love breakfast and wanted something local close to relatives in the area. Food was fabulous! The biscuits are definitely worth it and the fruit was fresh. Coffee is all french press and was very satisfying if you're a coffee lover. Service/seating-the only reason I'm rating 4 stars is because service is slow (Saturday morning at 9am) and seating/parking are hard to find. However, I did notice that people were able to find seats once they had ordered, don't let the line intimidate you-it's well worth it.

While visiting my folks in Oregon, my brother told me to stop by Buttercloud Bakery and bring home some of their Biscuits. Mind you that we live in SF and have access to a plethora of great biscuit joints, he insisted I bring back at least half a dozen. I kindly honored his request but couldnt imagine what all the fuss could be. After surviving the 6 hour trip back, we finally toasted them up the next day for breakfast. The outside had a slight bite to it without being too crumbly. As for the insides, it was fluffy like a cloud, no pun intended, with a rich butter flavor throughout. I certainly thought it was a good biscuit but not out of this world. Perhaps, if I had tried it as a sandwich or with some organic local jam in Oregon that would have uped the "awesomeness" of the biscuit. Overall Thoughts Next time I'm in town I will have to try Buttercloud again and see what I'm missing out on

4 out of five only because I reserve five stars for places such as Morning Glory in Ashland (on par with the best breakfast places I've ever eaten at). Otherwise, these owners have brought a wonderful place into Medford and I'm so glad to see it thriving. Have had multiple meals and always found the staff helpful and polite - but with the right amount of relaxed feel. Enjoyed various breakfast sandwiches (they are potent, so be careful) and meals there. Fun little cafe atmosphere, enjoy the deck despite jackson street being right there, and you can see how the neighborhood could turn some day and be a really fun little downtown place to live with these guys anchoring a corner. Hope it happens. Always enjoy the food, had good service, and like the vibe. Prices seem fair as well.

Came here for the first time this morning. They're super busy around 9-10 am during Sundays. The line was out of the door and there were no seats to be found. We came back around noon when the lines were gone and ordered some stuff to go. I tried the Lillie Belle Mocha and it was delicious. We got some of the bacon cheddar scones (I believe that's what it was called) and a brownie. My mother also purchased a Buttercloud mug which was a nice thing because my mom likes to collect mugs from cafe's and eateries. When there're not many people, the service is great and fast. The staff are friendly and the food were prepared well. Definitely coming back again around times that aren't so busy.

Best breakfast in town. Stayed in Medford for the weekend and ate here for breakfast twice. If you are there on a weekend try their "The Works." They have the tastiest biscuits and best gravy ever!

  • J C.

I love this place. The service is always fast and friendly, the baked goods are sinful, and while not cheap, the meals are delicious, artful, and thoughtfully and conscientiously prepared. I especially love their chai latte, which is easy on the sugar and heavy on the spice and a bit peppery - just like I like it! The brewtopia is also a great treat! I'm here about once a week with either my husband, my best friend, or both. My friend and I love splitting the farmhouse (with rogue creamery Rosemary cheddar!) and the salad with Apple slices and rogue creamy blue cheese. The biscuits are perfect - a bit crunchy on the outside, and soft and flakey on the inside (not doughy).

  • Jennifer H.

We were a little put out because of the wait but hoped that it meant it was because the food was that good. When we ordered the guy at the counter let us know it would be at least 25 minutes for our food (I love that). My husband got his french press right away and said it was delicious! Both my husband and daughter ordered the French toast biscuits special and said it was the best they've ever had! I ordered the rogue scrambled with added bacon. It was off the charts! To say this place was worth the wait is an understatement!

I wanted to give a quick update: I have pretty much tried everything on the menu by now, and I can honestly say that the Pulled Pork and the Beef n Bleu are the best sandwiches in my opinion. Order 'em! Breakfast sammies are all great too. They got rid of their spicy mac due to little interest which is a shame, but I have discovered a great replacement side: their salad! Absolutely gorgeous in presentation, simple and fresh in taste. It's pretty exquisite and their homemade dressing divine. Love this place!

If you come here, you have to get the Farm House, and the French Plate!!! It's so delicious!!!! It's super cheap here, and seriously the kids can share the peanut butter and honey biscuits. (Amazing) The farm house is amazing it's a biscuit with tomato, eggs, and bacon!!! The french plate it's biscuits as soaked in French toast flavoring, bacon, and egg!!! The only problem is the place is pretty small! I wish it was bigger!

  • Rose P.

I saw the chipotle porter pulled pork in the menu, however, they were out of it today. So I went with the chicken and chile biscuit and it absolutely rocked my world. Had a whole poblano pepper that provided the perfect amount of spicy. I would definitely come here again, I'll be thinking of that sandwich for days!

    (5)
  • Adrienne B.

Delightful! Kind service, yummy biscuit sammies, and good coffee. It's no frills, but always satisfies. The reasonable prices (under $10 for a breakfast biscuit sandwich and a cuppa joe) are appreciated, too.

What an awesome find for breakfast in Medford. While returning from Portland and en route to San Jose, the Yelp app points us to this cute little breakfast place. We initially think biscuits meant only old fashioned biscuits and gravy but they have far more, much more. The place is small so it was crowded on a Sunday morning. Still, we score a spot by the window. The Farmhouse - Bacon, fried egg, tomato and slathering of basil aioli between the oh-so super biscuits to make your taste buds explode with joy. The ingredients are simple but fresh since they are locally procured. Green Eggs and Ham - Liked this less than the Farmhouse but still good in it's own way. We ask for the horseradish mayo to be provided separately and they happily comply. Less flavorful due to lack of bacon (of course right?) but adding the horseradish mayo adds an interesting flavor dimension (think wasabe). Coffee is served French press style which is pretty unusual. The better news is the coffee is excellent. Locally roasted coffee wins for freshness. Service was slightly slow but understandable considering the weekend crowd and that they have a small kitchen. The biscuits are the highlight here since they bake them fresh in-house. Oh, plus they have someone playing guitar to keep you entertained while you eat breakfast. How great is that? If you're on I-5, skip the usual IHOP crap on the freeway and head here for breakfast. It's absolutely worth the detour.

This place is my new favorite breakfast spot! I've had to many things there to list but everything is superb! I wish you got a little more food because the portion sizes are small but the flavors are explosive! I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Do NOT come here on weekends IF you do not have patience. It's takes a LONG time to get your food. But... I don't care, it's worth it. Everything is good. You have to try the Farmhouse at least one time. JUST DO IT. Also, try the biscuits & gravy with The Works. If you eat here... you will not regret it.

Welcome to biscuit heaven!! I've eaten a lot of biscuits all over the country, and this is the best one. Truly. I'll drive 45 minutes out of the way when I go to Portland just to stop by and get one for the road. Uh-may-zing!

Great biscuit breakfast sandwiches! Flavors are outstanding, but the Mac n cheese was disappointing. It lacked flavor and tasted like old reheated mac from the day before. Outdoor seating was nice but very limited. All in all I would go back for the biscuit and fried egg sandwich! Nice staff too!!

The food is awesome, very much like going to grandmas for the best biscuits ever. The French press coffee is smooth and no bitterness. We'll absolutely return to get the best breakfast!

M husband and I have been here twice since moving to the area in January 2014. I have gone one other time with co-workers. WE love it, one of out favorite breakfast places to go. The scones are delicious along with their buscuits. My husband loved the cappaciono.

So delicious! Had the ice tea, romaine salad, & ricotta peach tart. My husband ordered the zucchini veggie biscuit sandwich and dark hot chocolate. We also bought a bag of brownie edges to go / on impulse and we were so glad we did - once we got in the car, we sampled some of the chocolate goodness and omg!! Hands down the best brownies in the world. If you love chocolatey (& not sugary) super moist brownies - these are the ones for you. Super nice wait staff too!

The food was amazing ! I had the rouge scramble biscuit with tomato & bacon. Friends got farmhouse biscuit with a side of mac & green eggs & ham with no ham. All of it looked and tasted fantastic! Would definitely come back

We came here in our road trip because of the yelp reviews. I have to say that it was different than I thought it would be. This is not a sit down, waited restaurant. However, there are a few tables and chairs inside as well as outside. We ordered the farmhouse biscuit and a beef blue cheese biscuit (not sure of the name). The wait was a bit long, but worth it. My biscuit was amazing. The aioli they use is delicious and they cooked my egg so well that it had a firm, but still gooey yolk. The biscuit itself was crunchy/flaky on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It tasted fresh and was perfect to start off the day. It was so good we ordered more to go. If I ever find myself in the Medford area again, I will definitely stop by again and again and again.

Unbelievable. We were taking a road trip for my birthday and we were fresh out of our hotel in Medford. So I decide to Yelp some places to have my 40th birthday breakfast. Buttercloud came up #1. After reading everyone's glowing reviews, the lady and I decided to check it out. This place was AWESOME. The biscuits were like none I had ever had before. I had the Beef Brisket, Bleu Cheese and Tomato jam. Couldn't have asked for a better start to the morning. The food was amazing. As a graphic designer, I loved their branding. It was just a great experience. My only disappointment in Buttercloud is the fact that there isn't one in Sacramento, CA. *hint hint*

Excellent breakfast- food, ambiance, friendliness and advice from staff. Rest room had a space heater that was most welcomed.

Looking at the menu it seems they try to stick to Rogue valley ingredients, aka local. I had the Cheese and egg biscuit, "rogue valley scramble" and a cup of French press coffee. Staff was friendly and answered my questions promptly and politely. Great way to start the day.

Excellent coffee, baked goods, service and food. It would be a highlight in any town, but especially for Medford. Fresh ingredients, homemade, often local. Very tempting stuff if you eat everything but they gladly made me some eggs with veggies minus the biscuit when I was staying off the breads.

If you're passing through Medford you must stop at the Buttercloud Bakery & Cafe! Friendly staff, great coffee, outstanding biscuit sandwiches!

Just came out of the woods and we found Buttercloud cafe. Some of the best breakfast I've ever had. Highly recommend the rogue scramble and the chicken and chile. Super friendly staff and no wait at all. The water was also fantastic.

Absolutely delicious, creative, fresh breakfast. the menu centers around homemade biscuits, reminding me of my grandma's southern Texas style buttermilk biscuits from childhood. exquisite homemade jams, nitrate free bacon, special home made chai tea, Incredible gravy. I would give it 5 stars except there was a wait of 20 mins and not many tables. it is also counter-style ordering where you get a number for your table and wait in line (no exclusive wait staff). However, it was worth the wait for the spectacular food.

One of the Best breakfast biscuit sandwiches I have ever had. Don't remember the name. But it's the first one on the menu and it had a runny fried egg (ooooooooo), tomatoe and pesto (I think). Oh my god, it's gooood. Will go back and try the other items on the menu. And to add to this, the girls are really nice and pretty too. (Wink winkj

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, spacious and organized business. I ordered the Works, biscuits & gravy with ham pieces, topped with 2 over medium eggs. It's amazing that through the gravy, you can get the texture of the fluffy biscuits. You can tell that the meal was crafted, not just cooked. I would return to try other menu items, or just go back to anything with biscuits. The meal was very well done. Great job, Buttercloud!

Well we tried to eat here. The place was small and there was no parking. Since I was dining with a elderly person today, we couldn't stand too long, and there was no place to sit while waiting to order. Also, there was no table after the order was place- so we left.

Oooh! Buttercloud was real deal biscuit goodness... Our party had quite the array of biscuit diversity going on at our table... I had mine smothered in bacon gravy, yes you read that right, bacon freakin gravy! The country style gravy packed a good amount of bacon bits running throughout and was loaded with bacon flavor... The biscuit was fluffy with a golden exterior (after I unearthed it from its gravy tomb)... My better half had the 'rogue scrambler' sandwich, and she enjoyed every bite of it! The last member of our party (and the pickiest) had frenchtoast style biscuits, and she was lovin Buttercloud's take on frenchtoast! The place is pretty small and we had to play musical chairs a little bit because they don't really have a setup for 4 or more parties (unless you sit outside) without joining tables together... The pricing was a little high, but the quality was worth the extra bit we did pay... Other than the place being pretty small, it's pretty clean and charming (my gf's way of describing it)... The place is a little bit of a madhouse because it's so busy and on the smaller side, but the staff rocks it out and was very friendly! The only that sucked about our visit was the flies... I know it's that time of the year, but there were flies crawling in and around the baked goods cases (which wasn't cool and detered is from taking any sweet treats home like we had planned on)... With the exception of the fly thing, Buttercloud was legit... I will definitely be back for more delicious biscuits! ***Eat Local***

Long wait, but amazing food. The chicken and chile biscuit was a great balance of flavors and the sauce really brought it all together. The only thing they could improve is to use milk for the chai since it tasted a bit watery.

Relaxing small-town cafe serving up hot, fresh biscuit sandwiches, pastries, and coffee. The name is a pretty accurate descriptor of their biscuits. Imagine a cloud. Now add some butter. and voila! But actually they are pretty tasty piled high with eggs, bacon, tomato, and basil aioli. Your sandwich will most likely disappear from your plate before you know it, and you will only realize you have consumed it when you feel a strong urge to go back to sleep. The vegetable hash is, on the other hand, a sad mistake. It's overcooked, even burned, and has a stringent, bitter taste. Try a different side dish perhaps? Buttercloud's outdoor seating is a plus, definitely utilize if you plan on sticking around a while! I'd return to try some of their nifty desserts.

My only complaint- I try to avoid this awesome place on the weekends as it's super busy. Every time I've gone here (it's been years now) the staff and owners are always super friendly. The food is always amazing. The mocha is to die for. The baked goods are tasty and very fresh. It's so nice to be able to finally have a consistently friendly restaurant with very yummy food. And it's local and family owned and run!! Love to support them!

  • Harry B.

They call their biscuits/scones Butterclouds, deservedly so ... mine with Beef & Blue cheese (rather light on the cheese for me by request, I'm lactose intolerant). Order at the counter before finding yourself a table -- a few inside and more outside on the deck under umbrellas. They'll bring your order out to you when ready. Fast, friendly and attentive service. Take your coffee cup back up for a $1 refill.

  • Mary F.

We love Buttercloud. Great staff, good service and good food. Seriously, my only complaint is that I wish they would serve a higher quality coffee like Case Coffee Roasters, who are also local. But their food is always fresh and yummy.

During our trip to So Cal we stopped in here for lunch. Some of the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had! Creamy and populated with yummy bacon it's a must have! To wash it down, check out their strawberry lemonade! They've got some amazing sandwiches on the menu as well, made with their delicious biscuits of course.

We stopped here on the Yelp recommendations while driving through Medford. Husband was dubious and determined to check out the menu first until we pulled in; he liked the look of it so much he parked and went on in. We were there on a Saturday for lunch. It was busy but there was no wait and our party of five was seated without an issue. There was nice seating on the patio, but that was full. The biscuits, a key component of just about everything on the menu, were incredible. And everything they put on them was wonderful. I went back for a second one with just butter and jam after I finished my BLT. I think we'll stop here for breakfast or lunch any time we're in the area. Bathroom was very clean, but no changing table. I have a changing pad though and would have been fine using the floor (which, as I wrote, was nice and clean). The staff was super friendly and I liked the open view to the kitchen. I bought some granola to enjoy later; cannot wait to try it!

This place is rad! Locally owned and operated, great menu, delicious food and super nice people. We just got the farmhouse breakfast sandwich and coffee. Simple, well-priced and really fresh, natural ingredients. There's a really mellow vibe here, feels good in the morning!

My husband and I stayed in Medford overnight on our way home from our honeymoon, and found this place on Google. I figured if it had butter in the name, it had to be good. Oh my god. Best. Biscuits. Ever. I had the Farmhouse sandwich and a latte and he had the Rogue and a Brewtopia. Both amazing, and we shared a biscuit with butter and raspberry jam. I cannot rave enough about how good it was. Everything was so delicious and the people were so friendly. Absolutely the best part of our drive through Oregon. We even had to get two Brewtopias to go for the drive home. You guys rock!

Definitely don't ever come here if you only have 10-15 minutes to pick something up to go. They have only one person to wait on people and take the order and half the time they spend 2-3 minutes chatting as well.... Right now I have been standing in line 5 minutes and not a SINGLE person has moved .... This will probably be the last time I come back. For the poor service the last two times, has to down to 3 stars OH - I also tried to call ahead to order before I got here, phone is BUSY for 10 minutes straight.... In the 21st Century, who has a busy phone... And get here and don't see anyone on the phone .... Curious Just bad... On the verge of a 2 star just for the horrendous service

I was in Medford for a few days visiting family and found this place on yelp. Sure enough, all the rave was true! the biscuits are scrumptious. My husband who normally never eats breakfast finished his entire plate. (I forget what he ordered)

I've been hearing about this place for months and I'm finally in town visiting and was able to try it out. I ordered the bacon biscuits and gravy and a piece of chocolate cake. YUM. It was sooooo good. My cousin and I are sort of obsessed with cupcakes and cakes etc so we have alot of opinions and likes and dislikes. We sort of "know" our cakes :) this cake was amazing, so moist that it literally tasted wet, and the frosting wasn't like anything we've ever tasted before, very creamy, not too whipped but not to thick either. The biscuits and gravy were also really tasty. They tasted like they were "fresh" and not as gelatinous as regular biscuits and gravy. The staff was really friendly as well. Not "fake" friendly but genuinely friendly. I will definitely be eating here again!

After having a couple friends rave about the buttercloud I thought I try it with lunch for with a friend. There was a long line, the person taking orders appeared to be new, and some people were nervous because apparently they were just on their lunch hour. Food is a little pricey, but was good, and definitely fresh. Nice place to meet for lunch and sit outside if you don't mind a little street noise. Rs

This place is so overrated. Very small portions, hipster atmosphere and expensive. The food is tasty but more like a light snack than brunch. Medford needs better breakfast restaurants.

We've seen the glowing reviews on yelp and been very excited to try ButterCloud for the past 18 months or so. We have gone in twice over the last year but we're not anxious enough to endure the 45-60 minute wait. Today (a rainy Tuesday morning) seem to be the perfect opportunity to try the revered little bakery. Entering, we were not exactly sure if we should order or have a seat, after being a little confused we found you go to the counter to order first (FYI). This experience is not so bad except you pay when you order your food and are asked that time to leave gratuity. My experience is always been the tip is based on food and service. I left a 20% gratuity, if I would've known that you have to bus your own table before you sit down and are expected to bus your own table when you leave and there is no waiting staff, I would've only left a 5% gratuity. The food: I had the scone with bacon gravy, my wife had the farmhouse biscuit. We also ordered A orange sticky bun as kind of an appetizer. The cinnamon bun seem to have a hard candy coating which sticks to your teeth like taffy (not bad, not good) it was also cold. Both my gravy and my wife's biscuit had a tangy sauce that did not agree with our particular pallet. After busing our own tables we received a warm thank you and goodbye from one of the staff and asked if we'd like a to go cup for a coffee (very thoughtful) and took our two block track back to our car in the rain. In conclusion, it is not the place for us but seems to be the favorite for a lot of people and does have a fantastic little atmosphere.

Buttercloud provided a wonderful and much needed break on my way from LA to Seattle. The staff are friendly and humorous and the food & coffee are beyond good. I would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone in the area whether you are local or just stopping through. I hope I'll be able to stop be again and test out more than just coffee and cake!

Very good biscuit sandwiches. Cozy little place with fresh baked goods. Owner served us and recommended items and my picky teen even ate the green eggs and ham with spinach! Got 3 sandwiches, brownie, and a milk for $25.

The biscuits were just that buttery and cloudy - the fillings whichever you choose is just as amazing as the buttery cloudy biscuit base. I ordered the beef and blue and my BF ordered the chicken and chile. I rarely eat sandwiches with no accompaniment of some sort - like fries, chips, salad - this sandwich is so good it doesn't need any other "noise" to eat with it. It is beyond delicious. All I can say is - it is perfect in every way. The restaurant is airy and modern but homey and cozy. It is very clean and the open lay out makes it very welcoming. The bathroom is crisp clean and smells of citrus. We will definitely eat here again on our way back to Portland. Try this place as soon as you can. It will be a favorite. I wish they had one here in California.

Can't say enough about this cute place. Want a delicious breakfast and it's healthy too, come have what I get the farmhouse without the biscuit on a bed of spinach.... So good and then top it off with a lemon tart. I only did this today because I'm celebrating my bday!!! Otherwise, no tart!! Lol, it's so good I had to splurge. What is life if we don't splurge a little!

After reading the reviews on Yelp, I couldn't wait to go here when we got to Medford. It did not disappoint! I had the hardest time choosing something because everything sounded so good! Finally settled on the green eggs and ham and it was yummy! BFs biscuits and gravy were good too. FANTASTIC coffee! Stop by if you're in the area; all the staff I interacted with were really really nice too.

If you want to impress friends and not loose your wallet, come here. Don't be scared to order a and which that doesn't sound like breakfast before 11am! You'll be content. Chicken Chili and Beef and Blue are great sandwiches anytime :)

  • Christopher M.

Great place! We stopped here for a late lunch. The biscuits were very yummy! Topologically, I thought it a bit odd to use the biscuits to make sandwiches (the sandwiches get quite vertical - you'd need an unhinged jaw like a snake's to really eat it). That said, the results were excellent. Very tasty sandwiches, albeit I needed to eat them with a fork. Fresh ingredients. Very nice and friendly staff. Good vibe all-around. Feeling adventurous I got a slice of their home-made apricot cheese pie. OMG it's the bomb. I'd go back there just for that. This place is definitely worth it. A real find.

  • Charlie K.

Nice little place. Food was good. Biscuits were delicious. It is pricey $7 for a single breakfast sandwich. Granted the sandwich is good, but for that price I really feel like it should come with something. Space is about as limited as their menu, so seating can be a pain if theres more than 2 of you. Overall worth a try, but I can't say that I'll be headed back.

Their biscuits and gravy are to die for! Such a wonderful place to have a breakfast or brunch date! The customer service is wonderful and the atmosphere is fun! So happy on the hours that they are open! I seriously can't wait to eat here again! :)

Great stop We're on the way to our way north and the reviews sounded good. Well, its easy to find and easy to get back to i5. Absolutely great food. Had the green eggs and ham biscuit. Amazing flakey light biscuit. Eggs were soft and just yummy. My sandwich was in all ways wonderful. Just enough and completely satisfying. My wife had the chicken chili biscuit and chicken was cooked perfectly and moist and she loved the dressing. 5 yr old grandson had peanut butter banana biscuit and chowed it down. Not huge parking lot but easy to access. There's ourside seating which is accessible! The servers were very helpful. We go to medford once in awhile for shopping and this will be must stop. We felt the prices extremely fair for quality food. The cost for our brunch was about the same as mcd's but our taste buds and tummies much happier.

  • Amanda O.

First time here ! It's a little bit of a wait but it was Mother's Day so expected to be a little busy! Great experience, could be considered a little pricey for the amount of food you get but the quality beats that! Can't wait to go back! Definitely will be a regular customer.

  • Sylvia D.

This place is like biscuit heaven. The biscuits are amazing! I only wish that I was hungrier when I went there. After having a huge meal the night before, my stomach didn't have much space in it, but I did manage to fit a biscuit with honey, peanut butter and banana in there and oh boy was my tummy happy. As I was sitting there, there were so many other options that I would have loved to try (the biscuits & sausage gravy being at the top of my list). Luckily for us, it was busy but not too busy when we stopped by so we were able to get a table pretty easily. The seating is limited but the atmosphere is very comfortable and homey. This place is a must stop the next time I'm in town so I can indulge my biscuit cravings.

When I met the owners of Buttercloud I wanted them to succeed. They always make me feel welcome and have remembered my name since the first time I came in. I am glad to say that their menu and service continue to please and they have done so well in their endeavor. The farmhouse breakfast sandwich is HEAVEN. My Husband and I love it! My business is just around the corner and I love coming to Buttercloud to get goodies for my staff and my Husband. Thanks for your wonderful food!

I've been back in California for almost two weeks, and I still think about what a great meal I had here! The service was great and fast, everything was clean. I traveled to Oregon with a co-worker for business, and we were so happy that we stopped here! I had the Rogue Biscuit. What a great experience.... I know it's a cafe, but it should be on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!!!

  • Patricia D.

Disappointing place for lunch. Ordered a "sandwich" and was presented with a poor little biscuit on a plate. It looked so lonely and small. Granted the greens were fresh and delicious, but it amounted to a couple pieces of gourmet mixed greens, a piece of chicken that was cold and seemed precooked, and a thimbleful of dressing...nothing on the side, like a pickle, more greens, carrot slices... The "special tea" of the day was bitter. Even if it had tasted good, it was overpriced. The bottled beer is ok. IMHO a biscuit is not fitting for a sandwich.

This place is a new hidden gem of Medford. The staff is really friendly, the coffee is amazing and the food, OMG so good. Their buttery biscuits serve as the bread to which they slather on amazing ingredients such as their beef brisket that melts in your mouth and Oregon blue cheese, best ever!

My husband & I were passing through on our way home to California. He wanted lunch but I'm a breakfast gal. After reading reviews and checking out the menu, we decided to give the Buttercloud a whirl. We are so glad we did! The biscuits are perfect and a little cakey but that is how I prefer them (as opposed to the biscuits some places make that are clearly loaded with excess butter). I had the eggs with rosemary cheese biscuit while my hubby had the chicken chile. We shared a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie on the way out. Staff was kind and attentive. Food was delish and just what we were looking for. I hope my in-laws move up north to Oregon so we have more reasons to stop by again! A great neighborhood gem.

OMG......is what I have to say this place is AMAZING to say the least. Okay I was visiting my son in Oregon & asked at the hotel where there places for a good breakfast so when I went to the place she suggested and saw it look like a rest home......I said NOPE let's look around and Thank God we did & we found this GEM of a place it will be my go to Place from now on. My son ordered "The Farmhouse" Fried egg, bacon, tomato, basil aioli on a Buttercloud Biscuit & the look on his face when he took that first bite was priceless, he was like OMG mom I feel like I just died this is so good I have to eat it slow to enjoy every bite. I had the "Rogue Scramble" Two scrambled eggs, Rogue Creamery Rosemary Touvelle cheese on my Buttercloud Biscuit and it was the best thing I have ever eaten I could of died and been the happiest person there it was AMAZING my son & I could not speak with every bite we closed our eyes and enjoyed all the flavors having a party in our mouth yummy, yummy and Yummy. I would recommend this place to everyone. I love the style of the shop it is small but it is very nice with outside eating available but you have to go early because we went back just to buy the biscuits and eat thru the night and a lady bought every last one they had so we were bummed out to say the least. The biscuits were to die for so fluffy and flavorful usually I don't order them because they are so dry but on NO not these they have you addicted the first bite. I can't wait to go back because I will be there every morning and oh I don't want to leave out the customer service which was the BEST they have everything covered. Love - love - love this place you have to stop in on your travels you will not regret it.

I'm becoming a regular and highly recommend making a stop here to either satisfy a sweet tooth or have a savory biscuit sandwich! And the coffee is great. Ellen and Gibson are terrific people and their attention to detail is noticeable. Just ordered the blood orange tart for a birthday celebration and we're stopping in on Sunday for biscuits and gravy.

I will keep this short and sweet. The beef and blue biscuit sandwich is amazing the biscuit was soft and moist and held together through the entire consumption of the sandwich. I will definitely be back

Just went for breakfast here to check it out. Wow soooo Good! We had the biscuit and gravy with the eggs and ham. It was so fresh and good. They use quality eggs, and the biscuits were fresh. The gravy was delicious. The service and customer service was excellent. So nice to finally have a good bakery again and reasonable pricing for breakfast. We spent 20.00 and had more food than we should have eaten. Love it!

Just what Medford needed. If you like a cafe the truly pays attention to the details this is your place. Starting with amazing rich local coffee beans down to adding just the right herbs to enhance an already fantastic dish. The fresh local ingredients are a nice finishing touch to this adorable place. Looking forward to my next visit.

Heaven! Great place to eat breakfast in Medford. Love the patio, but the inside is a little tight. The staff is friendly and attentive. Food came quickly and was accurate to our order. There was a gentleman playing guitar, which was really nice. I love that they go local with their products and that they welcome kids. A step up from typical commercial restaurants found in Medford. Well done!

Seriously that good! I had the Poultry and Pear. Hubby had the Beef n Blue Cheese. Everything is so fresh! The biscuits were the fluffiest most buttery beautiful biscuits I have ever had. Great service too. The entire staff is cheery and helpful as can be! This is a must go spot! If I am ever road tripping thru Oregon again it will forever be on my list!

It was so good I went twice this week! Highly recommend The Farmhouse (fried egg, bacon, tomato and basil aioli) as a biscuit sandwich and Zuke and Bell (roasted zucchini and red bell pepper, housemade romesco sauce, goat cheese and spinach) also as a biscuit sandwich. The French press coffee was excellent too. It's a very comfortable, feel-good room and the staff is friendly and efficient.

I'm relatively new to using Yelp, and it DEFINITELY came through for us this time :-). We arrived in Medford by air at 2 am, slept, and needed good coffee and adequate breakfast before driving onward. Yelped on my phone for coffee near us, and Buttercloud came up. OMG, what a great find! Enticing array of baked goods, egg and biscuit sandwiches, rolls, coffees, etc. For once, our picky-eater 18 and 22-year old sons just kept ordering more and more: raspberry-goat cheese scones, cinnamon buns, chai, egg and biscuit sandwiches. (And my equally picky wife was very happy with the coffee.) The staff was very friendly and talkative, helpful about giving directions. The space (just a few tables, with an open kitchen so you could see the cooking) felt very spacious.

Delicious food, but very small portions (unless you order the biscuits and gravy)

Great option for a hungry person breakfast. Get The farmhouse - the basil makes it!

An oasis in Medford! Stoked to find a delicious lunch spot with fresh, healthy food options. Had the pulled pork and a side of mac and cheese. Loved it. Will definitely be back. And super nice folks working the scene. Check it!

Found this place on yelp as we were looking for a good breakfast before flying back to Atlanta. Great food and coffee. As a southern boy I'm impressed by the biscuits!

Must try the Buttercloud Buttermilk biscuits. They are to DIE for!! Breakfast has always been good. The one time we had lunch it was just okay.

We make the trip between California and Washington several times a year and this will be on our itinerary every time. The biscuits are light and fluffy (like little butterclouds!) and the sandwich fillings are top quality and unique. The chef takes no shortcuts and they serve seasonal and fresh all across the board. Good value for the money (I know some reviewers have mentioned that it wasn't a good value, but I disagree! You have to pay for quality!) and a lovely space. So happy to have this new addition to Medford!
