High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

Modifying food at a restaurant for a vegetarian seems to always be necessary. This Applebee's in particular really made an effort to meet my needs and customize the meal to fit the bill; I didn't just get a sandwich with no bacon or chicken etc. The manager came back to the table to see what my likes and dislikes were, then had the cook make a customized vegetarian club sandwich. I have to say, Applebee's was not one of my first choices but now I crave that customized sandwich. I just hope the Applebee's back home can recreate this delicious club sandwich. I will be recommending this Applebee's to all my friends and family in Medford Oregon. I didn't catch the managers name but our servers were Winona and Heidy... Thank you for a great experience. :).

A lot of flies that drove us crazy- they should and could do something about that. The Triple Hog Dare Ya is not worth the price. Actual contents: a tablespoon of pulled pork, 2 strips of bacon, 2 thin slices of ham (like sandwich meat), onion straws and sauce (if they remember it) Perhaps they try to make up the value deficit with re-fills on French fries.

I got my order messed up twice and the food was bad :((((( -We got their four cheese mac and it was soupy and abnormally sweet. -The sauce that came with our mozzarella sticks was crusted over and cold. -We also order buffalo wings, but it came as bbq wings and our server wasn't around to help us for so long. :( Overall it was a disappointing experience.

  • Karmic K.

Poor service by our server, her saving grace was her support staff- hostess, assistants and other servers. She way too clueless to be having such a big section. Probably last time going...

So, what to say about a ubiquitous chain? Applebee's is adequate. Their options are not overly inspiring, though they do change it up somewhat and feature "new dishes!", their salads are almost always a good option, and they have lots and lots of your standard kids menu choices. This location, like most others, has good and bad days depending on your server. The menu items are not excellent, and mostly not horrible, they have a full service bar which can be fun, but it's just your standard, typical chain. We eat there when we're feeling equally uninspired.

This place keeps going downhill! You can stand at the front door and wait to be seated while they walk by you and stare at you from the bar absolutely insane! The food hasn't gotten any better either. Very poor

I'd rather eat at hometown buffet and if you follow me you'll know that's no bueno. Are here a while back and the food wasn't great and the service... Oh the service. Thought Applebee's was cool when I was younger but I was eating the food after I had hung out in their bar for a while so my judgement was skewed. too many other mediocre chain restaurants in the sea to go back here.

Sat at the bar, the bar tender and manager were awesome! The restaurant was crazy busy and the kept their smiles and you could see everyone busting around like crazy. Had excellent service. Good was great! Will totally come back!

I've never liked Applebee's because none of the food tastes fresh. It all tastes like it cam from a bag in the freezer. Recently however, I wanted a casual sit down dinner for a hamburger. Where to go? Red Robins? Well, but I needed something new. I'm not sure where folks go for a decent sit down atmosphere burger meal around here, but this time I tired Applebee's. The burger was not bad. I think I got a blue cheese or whiskey burger, not sure, but it was good. The fries were good. They even had a porter to offer me. Points! It wasn't the best, but it was worth the money. The attendants and servers were are polite, attentive, and clean. The bathroom was clean, the atmosphere was not too noisy. So, overall It was an ok experience!

Yeah you don't want to eat here. Food is made bad. Servers don't care and just overall bad. The crowd can be deceiving don't eat here

I actually have never had a bad meal here, and Ive ate here around 10 times in just over a year...while this place wont win any food network "chef of the year" award plates, I have enjoyed everything I have had...good solid grub and service also

Applebee's is cool cause you know what to expect, decent food for a decent price. However, If you see that your server is "Kimmy" just unwrap your serrated knife and stick it in your neck. It's just better that way. Helen Keller would make a better waitress. Food was good :)

Nice staff, the place is clean, food is good, huge menu, not overly busy. I would definately go back.

Awful, awful, awfull! Went here for my birthday and I swear I aged another year waiting for them to take our order and then try to get it right. Sorry, a server repeating over and over that she was new is no excuse for all that went wrong. Tried to flag down a manager-she was too busy fanning herself with her swipe card and laughing with the servers at the bar. Oh, and taking complaints from another table not far from us. Drinks: half the order after 15 minutes of waiting to order, then 10 for half the order to arrive, another 10 to get the other half, 5 to get the straws. Food: cold fries, missing condiment, never got a bottle of ketchup to replace the empty one we told her about. Dirty glasses and plates piled up until the server arrived and tried to clear while precariously balancing an armload of dirty dishes which were disgusting shoved in my face when she leaned in. I thought she was going to drop them in my lap. Another server brought my check with a cheery reminder about their survey number on the top copy. When I complained, her demeanor changed and she removed the slip immediately along with my payment. No "thank you", no apology, no more business from me!

The waitress, Heidy, stole money from us. A friend and I came in tonight around 10:30 and the place was about half full. We ordered drinks and food which, along with the service, was just fine... up until we went to pay the bill. When we got the bill, we told the waitress we would split it right in half. My friend paid her half of the meal and tip in cash, which I watched her count out, and then I gave my card to cover the remaining half. When I got the bill for my half, it was $5 higher than it should have been. We flagged down the waitress and explained that $5 was missing from the cash she was given and she immediately got defensive and accusatory, claiming my friend hadn't given her enough money. She was not apologetic and she did not fix the mistake she made, whether it was on purpose or not. We felt like we had been shorted and lied to, and it was a completely inexcusable way to handle a guest issue. Heidy walked away again before the situation was resolved. I ended up paying the rest of the tab but without a tip (aside from the one she had helped herself to) and I will most definitely be following up with property and corporate management.

Some of the worst service i have experienced. Service was slow and when i got the bill i had some questions about some of the charges. Well the waitress became even more rude when asked about them. Overheard her complaining to another worker like the mistake was our fault. Then to top it off, being military i asked about a military discount. Got more rude faces from the waitress and recieved a 62 cent discount on a $60 bill. Will not recommend to anyone.

Ordered the 2 got $20....the steak was burned black, the fries were soggy and salty! I didn't receive a knife and fork after I requested silverware .... Place sucks!!! Save your money! Had a better experience at subway for god sakes

Hooooo, Applebee's. This is where I wound up recently on a late night with a group who figured this was the only option at the time. I entered and briefly contemplated the thought that maybe things had changed in the years since my last visit and, perhaps, the experience would be adequate, if certainly not thrilling. Turns out I was wrong! Place still sucks. You know it's bad when the waitress blames the new "computer systems" for a blatantly human order mess-up, then proceeds to get comfortable with you and badmouth the establishment and its management, despite your best please-stop-talking-to-me body language. Ordering problems aside, that was just weird. The food itself was mixed. Chicken wrap-thing was good, its sauce even better, but the accompanying french fries were lukewarm and actually stale. The hamburger, victim of the aforementioned order mess-up, came out after the rest of the party's food had been consumed, sporting a side of soggy onion rings that tasted like oily despair. Overall, this place is the kind of place that you only go to if the in-laws are in town and hell-bent on going here. The fact that you're reading this review indicates that you probably have the taste to already know that intuitively, but in case there were any doubts before, Now You Know. There are far better options at any time of the day or night.

Horrible.Went with my husband last night. He order the steak and I had chicken fajita,Ordered steak med-rare.It was well done and the baked potato was cold.Sent it back, got another steak well done and chewy. The potato was hard as a rock. They obviously microwaved it to death. You used to get warm tortilla shells in a warmer which kept them warm and soft. Now it comes wrapped in a piece of paper like you would get a taco bell. Doesn't keep them warm at all and they get hard quickly. This place used to have the best food and service but not anymore. We will never go back.

Probably won't be going back, Dinner took about two hours from start to finish. Our waitress seemed like she had better things to do. Drinks taste like crud and are overpriced. Disappointing!!!

  • Ane B.

The service is horrible. Besides getting food poisoning the last time we ate there, the food is average at best. Not sure why I gave them another chance, but nice me, I did. We had to wait 45 minutes while being completely ignored to be told they had accidentally erased our order. The lady shift manager who has linebacker shoulders, a truck driver's walk and circus cat eye makeup came over to ask how our food was after we finally got it. Not Good. It was salty with little flavor. Not worth waiting for. I am not wasting my money here again. Too bad since the restaurant use to be ran better. If you are above admitting you have made a mistake, well there is a reason you are working at Applebee's at your age. Food for thought.

    (1)
  • Victoria R.

Meh..that's really the best I can say. The food was ok. The fries were warm not hot. One of our sandwiches was pitiful. This location is in bad need of a facelift

My grandparents like to go here so I join them sometimes. Service was good. Food tasted ok but my grandma's food was served cold and looked like it had been sitting a long time before eating. My salad had lettuce in it that resembled shower drain sludge. Disgusting to think that's ok to serve. This is not the first time I've experienced bad food at this restaurant and I will not give them another try.

Applebees Medford, Oregon September 18, 2014 12:30pm My wife and I decided to take a quick break from the busy day and stopped by Applebees in Medford Oregon - it has been quite awhile since we came by what used to be my favorite watering holes (location near my home and the excellent staff at the time). They always have a large selection of brews and full bar Even though they were in the middle of the lunch rush seating was prompt and service friendly. The restaurant is quite clean, looking like an update since the last time we visited. For drink my wife tried the Malibu Red Tropical Rita - it was not very good. After noticing her making a face I tasted it and we both compared the flavors to what perfume or bath room sanitizer must taste. Our waitress without question exchanged it for one of our favorites the Bloody Mary. Since I was driving I had water which the waitress immediately asked if I would like lemon in it - not a frequent request at many restaurants For lunch my wife and I shared appetizers and an entree': starting with the Won Ton Tacos (excellent!) and Buffalo Wings (great) and then we tried the Bourbon Street (Cajun) Chicken & Shrimp which was excellent! Overall our visit was great

Absolutely the worst Applebee's I've ever been too! Had the two for $20 special, We both got the ribs with very little meat on the ribs also not very many French fries! Service was some of the worst I have ever experienced in my life! Our food took forever and people around us were getting there food before us. My girlfriends son had the same experience in Eugene! Applebee's has gone way down hill!

Got to the restaurant at 10:15 pm after driving 8 hours from Washington The bar was half empty. We sat for 15 minutes in the bar while the servers refused to take our order or even acknowledge us. They were apparently having an important meeting at the POS. When we finally walked out still no one said anything. Worst service ever. The people down the street at Dairy Queen were very friendly.

Took my family of 9 here for my daughters birthday... called ahead to tell them there would be 8 or 9 and still didn't have a table ready for us. when finally seated it took them 15 minutes to take our drink order, watched our waiter Jeffery take 2 other tables(, that came in behind us), order. When I ask about our drinks he informed me, not so politely, that he was the only one in the section that they were under staffed.(at 5pm on Sunday). He also informed me I needed to be patient they were coming. Well I politely informed him that I understood he was under staffed but I own a restaurant and I know how to do this. when our food finally came it was below standards by far.... the steak came out looking so pale looked more like pork chops and had the taste of whatever it was next to in the freezer, Penne pasta was almost none in the bowl, chicken was freezer burnt and it was all, to put it politely, CRAP. the only good part of the evening was who I am assuming was a manager, stepping in and helping poor Jeffery that was obviously overwhelmed by the amount of tables he had.,,.,. The price I paid for this meal could have been spent better elsewhere,... NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Worst experience I've had at a restaurant in years. The place wasn't busy at all, which was surprising as it was around dinner time. It took eight minutes to receive a server just to order drinks because our booth wasn't in her section and the male server was behind. People who arrived after us received their food and beverages before us. We waited twenty three minutes for our appetizer and almost half hour for our entree. No one came by and offered to refill our drinks or take away our dirty places. Multiple employees, even the manager, walked right past us and never made eye contact. We had to flag someone down for boxes and our check. Then, we had to wave around the check just for them to notice us so we could pay and leave. Almost two miserable hours spent being ignored. Will never go back and would never recommend!

With a majority of the tables open, we expected an uneventful late lunch. Instead, after placing our order, we waited and waited for our lunch to arrive. My Thai Shrimp Salad came with one lettuce leaf in it - one! They did bring me more when I requested more. My wife ordered a small Caesar and a cup of tomato basil soup. The soup had the consistency of tomato paste. All in all a bad late afternoon lunch. We are crossing this Applebee's Restaurant off our list of places to eat in Medford, OR

Terrible Applebee's. Wasn't sure really what to expect since they aren't really known for their product, but we gave it a shot. This was the worst experience at an eat in restaurant ever! At first they tried putting 9 of us at a circle table in the bar (we had 5 children). Undercooked--very--steak...twice. Wait time was nearly 20 minutes for appatizers and another 20 for dinner.

    (1)
  • Carla W.

Had the most disgusting steak ever served to me not once, but twice. There were fat curdles on the steak as a garnish and the mashed potatoes were runny and old. The veggies looked soggy and old too. Instead of getting my money back I got a free entree coupon. We used that tonight to get a trio sampler to go. Well, we ended up home and found that we got some riblets instead (I don't eat pork). So yeah, needless to say this place is pretty bad and not worth wasting your money when there are MUCH better restaurants in town to go to. Service was horrible and the cooks must have no idea what they are doing. Ew, ew, EW!!!!

We came here for lunch just before the Pa's Day rush. The waitress took our order without writing it down; some time later she returned to say that she had forgotten to submit the order and 'what was it anyway?' After another long wait the wife received a basic hamburger with fries and I got the grilled chicken, bacon, artichoke hearts, cheese and tomato on a toasted ciabata bun with fries. I didn't have the smoky mayo. The sandwich was too thick, so I removed the bacon and tomato. By-the-bye, if this is supposed to be a healthy sandwich (chicken) why the bacon? The sandwich was good; the fries had too much salt. The strawberry quencher that was ordered did not have several sliced strawberries as shown in the menu photo--it had just two slices. Generally, I have found Applebee's restaurants have a little above average food and good service; but seeing the other reviews for this place; it seems to need better management.

Went back to Applebees yesterday for the first time since the remodel... looks bare. I have to admit that the previous décor was kinda cheezy, but fun to look at all the local memorabilia... It's all gone. Nothing on the walls except for a couple LARGE murals, NO Pictures. The only thing left was a barber pole (I guess to let you know that is where the bathrooms are???) The Disco music was replaced by more contemporary music... I guess to serve the 50+ crowd? The service has not improved much, my wife had her glass of wine 10 minutes before I finally received my Iced-T or water. I was shocked when I received my bill... the receipt has an item called (no joke) "GRROSE CHX" Well maybe they should name it this on the menu too so people know they are ordering gross chicken. Nice for a chuckle. The food was just OK, the service was just OK, the atmosphere went from a "Neighborhood bar and grill" to a sterile food chain without any decorations. Really boring... At least they kept the televisions, gave me something to look at while patiently waiting for my food and drinks.

Contrary to popular belief applebees did not have any bees, or apples for that matter. Upon sitting down my company and I were applaud to find a rusty hatchet on the table. This shocked us as we believed we were in for a nightmare of a dinner service. Applebees did not have chocolate waffles.

I think the food here is usually pretty good. They have some great salads, although sometimes it takes a while when they're busy. The burgers are usually good and all the appetizers. The service is great and all the staff is super friendly.

On a road trip you learn to appreciate the fact you are spoiled for food. When arriving into a strange town at 9pm at night, you learn to appreciate that you are absolutely screwed for choice when you have no idea where you are going (or remembered to install the yelp app on your cellphone of choice). As a result, we ended up at Applebees. This is my second visit to an Applebees and I pray to any lords that might feel like listening to me, that this should be my last. Why the resentment? After a few days on the road, I really craved some vegetables. My diet had been woefully lacking to this point. Ah ha! I see something on the menu that doesn't incorporate anything fried and comes with veggies. Hurrah! Something close to nutritious. Oh but Applebees vegetables are premixed with broccoli. I'm allergic to the stuff. So no veggies. What am I offered in its place? A baked potato - to go with the mashed potato side already as part of the meal. You are killing me. As for the meal I eventually ordered, well, it was pretty unmemorable. Dried out rice, blackened chicken and beans. Whatever, it was just a little dull.

Although I go out of my way not to usually make Applebee's my dinner plan choice, I do like it that if you are coming back late and need a quick snack; they are open late and have a pretty nice selection of late night snacks.

I wasn't expecting much, and they didn't even reach that goal. The waitstaff was ok, the food was mostly ok. The big disappointment was not reading the fine print closely enough on the kid's menu. I ordered mac and cheese for my son, with a side of broccoli because he loves the stuff. The mac and cheese was fine, but the broccoli was under-cooked and could not be eaten by my kid. No big deal, I thought. Figured I would just take it as left-overs and it would finish cooking when I reheated it later. When the bill came I found out that the broccoli was not included in the kids "meal." Only the mac and cheese was. Not much of a meal if you ask me. When I asked my husband to see the kid's menu to see if I had missed something the waitress was happy to tell me that the mac and cheese does not include a side. Great, thanks lady. You couldn't have said something when I placed the order?! Instead of asking which side I would like with my kid's meal? Not that the side had a big charge, but the fact that I had to pay for something my kid couldn't even eat is irritating. I've been to other restaurants in this chain, but I think I'll skip them in the future. For the same price I could have taken my family of three to a local, non-chain establishment.

This is a great Applebees's and the main reason is if you are at the bar or in the bar area. They have a phenomenal bar tender Shanon, he is quick, and on top of things. Food was adequate and the service and timeliness in getting my meal was good as well. Definitely better than some applebees i have been to.
