The best kept secret about Tequila Grill is the taco/burrito truck version that sits directly outside the restaurant doors. If you want a more formal dinner then the "sit down" restaurant is the way to go, but my 5-star review is based entirely on the taco truck experience. Because WOW. They pull out all the stops. For just under $2 you can get a freshly prepared taco with your meat of choice plus access to their toppings bar which includes grilled veggies, pinto beans, cabbage, cilantro, pickled veggies, onions, radishes, and 5+ salsas. It's easy to pile your plate high with all the freebies and walk away feeling stuffed off of one taco. But with prices so low and the quality so high (it doesn't get any more fresh) it's easy to buy two or more tacos and have a feast. There is outdoor covered seating at wooden picnic tables and tons of free parking nearby. Where else can you get lunch for $2-4 and be stuffed?

Wow... so bad. The service: It took forever to get our food and all of our orders came out wrong. Not sure whose fault this was. Our server didn't seem the careless type so perhaps the disconnect was on the kitchen end. The food: They don't seem to know how to make a burrito! It was constructed like a large enchilada. Rice and beans were folded loosely up in a smallish flour tortilla, and then the lot was smothered in a strong, garlicky sauce (causing sogginess), and topped with lettuce, pico de gallo containing an excessive amount of black pepper, and tons of cheddar cheese. The latter was an especially unpleasant surprise (allergies) and warranted my sending it back. The beans were decent but the rice left much to be desired; it was oily and bland and didn't have that distinctly Mexican flavor that I know and love. My dinner companions both got fajitas; they were swimming in oil and didn't appear to come with tortillas. I'm aware that Mexican cuisine varies from region to region- even from state to state- so perhaps I'm just being a spoiled Californian... but damn it... this simply didn't seem like the real stuff. It resembled Mexican food but was a little off, almost as if they've altered it to cater to local tastes. They were generous with the chips and salsa and there was a nice selection: bean dip, spicy red salsa, and a creamy green one (which I steered clear of but nonetheless looked delicious). This may be what saved it from receiving one star. The prices: It was actually affordable. My disaster of a "burrito" only cost $5. Fajitas are $11. Not too bad. Overall, I'd say skip it.

Review would be higher. But a few things they could work on is costomer service. And sanitation issues. When you have mushrooms growing out of your ceiling. It means you need to clean the place up. Since its on Facebook and people sent to channel 12 news. But usually food is great. Except for the flys and sanitation issues.

The tacos in front by the parking lot are the best. Don't even bother going in, just grab the food out front.

Great tongue tacos and burritos! The green hot sauce is excellent! I used to go to Muchas Gracias down the street but this restaurant is so much better! One thing I found out that they don't tell people is if you get a business card, that on the back of the card Is a punch card and if you buy 10 burritos you get one free! This is a good deal!

Good food, fast service, reasonable prices. So far this is the best Mexican food we have found in McMinnville, and is better than most of the Portland places we've tried too. Glad we found it!

"so-so" Kinda loud for a restaurant. Tables are too close. Food is ok, real saucy, and service is not present most of the time. Drinks are a little watery

Great service. Above average American Mexican food. Had the Chalupa and enchilada combo, all very good. Cadillac margarita had good flavor and kick. But, it was the California burrito that was quite special. Steak had great flavor and potatoes the right amount of crunch. Very tasty.

Great service but really average food... Really more Mexican American rather than the true Mexican I'm used to....

If you are in the area and looking for Mexican food, this is the place to go. I wouldn't travel from Salem to eat there. Service was good, parking is odd...Building is an old motel-and you have to walk through a breezeway with food carts to get to the front door. Out door eating area is where the pool used to be... It is now filled with concrete with tables on top of it! Food was ok. I think the best part of out experience was the chips and salsa... Three different choices that were all spicy (yay!) and beans as well. Chips were fresh and very good.

For the taco stand outside: great street tacos of all types. Simple, hot and tasty. No vegetarian options, but it's a taco stand! Have no idea about the inside restaurant. We will be back!

Food is fast and flavorful. This is a family owned business and the food is good, huge portions and very well priced. We used a entertainment coupon which she gave back so we could use it again. Got to love customer service like that.

Was looking for good Mexican food and found it on yelp. This place has the best Mexican food that I have eaten. Very reasonably priced and friendly service. I now make it a point to eat here whenever I am in town.

American Mexican food at its best. make their own chips, check. fresh made salsa, check. juicy but crispy delicious carne asada, check. love this place. go inside for a huge plate of meat, rice, and beans that are delicious. stay outside for the best taco stand in oregon. the flavors change daily, an indication that someone is actually making the food. consistenly the pastor, carnitas and pollo are the best. watch them grill your meat and then load up yourself with onions, cilantro, carrots, radish, sauces, grilled onions, and beans. !!!!!!! for an added bonus go on friday and saturday nights for the crowds of chillers coming and going from the club next door. LOVE THIS PLACE!

Everything I could ask for on any random night of craving Mexican food. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food was great and very reasonably priced. Everything was clean and well kept. The Tequilla Grill is an active little restaurant for good reason!

Amazing margaritas, good for the tastebuds-and-soul food. Everything was fresh, service was kind and efficient. Management stopped by during our meal to be sure all was perfect. My only complaint and it barley is, bring a sweater in winter if you are someone who tends to be chilled, the dining room can be cool. Ask for the extra spicy house salsa to warm up.

My daughter and I ate here at the spur of the moment because it was walking distance from our hotel. What a fortunate turn of events! The chips come with 3 dips (loved the spicy green one!). I had an a la carte roasted pork taco, and it was maybe the single best taco I've ever eaten in my entire life. The pork was tender and flavorful. My daughter had the beef fajitas and said they were great - she loved the sauce the veg and meat came in. My only sadness was that their liquor license had been temporarily suspended (it should be restored by now) and I couldn't have a margarita. But the place was packed despite that deterrent. :)

Tequila Grill now has good prices on lunch specials to compete with other options down the street. They're $5.99+ and come with a drink and the staple chips, salsa, and refried bean dip! That's a plus for me. I usually mix the salsa with the beans since the salsa is a little hot for me. You can eat at the small a la cart grill outside too for lunch! that always smells good. Pros: Nice servers, extensive lunch options, good food and great portions for the price! Con: the most uncomfortable seating EVER. Really. The picnic tables outside may be more forgiving on my bum.

Born in San Antonio, Texas, grew up eating Mexican food. It's rare for me to find something that satisfies my TexMex taste buds. This restaurant knows what to do with tortillas, queso and meat. I had grown beef tacos, enchiladis, beans. So good I went back the next night. Who would guess you could good Mexican food on a small town in Oregon? Good service. Desserts so so. But who goes to a Mexican restaurant for sweets?

My fiancée and I love Mexican food, so much so that we could probably eat 2 if not 3 times day. We have been to all Of the sit down Mexican restaurants in mcminville and tonight was our first time here at tequila grill. We really enjoyed it! The service was wonderful and attentive! You get two different salsas chips and warm delicious bean dip to start. He got their pork carnitas as that is the dish he used to gauge all Mexican restaurants an he was not disappointed it was juicy, tender and flavorful but not over seasoned as often happens. I got their #53 I forget what is was called but it was a steak dish. The steak was juicy tender and so good. The sauce used brought the flavor of the beef and it at that wonderful charbroiled flavor. It came with 2 enchiladas with your choice of filling. I chose chicken they were good but the steak won the night and my pork loving fiancée agreed. Their retries beans were rich and full of flavor our 8month old could not get enough and neither could we! We will definitely be back and look forward to the service and wonderful food! I should probably mention there prices are much better than the other places in town for much better food!

We just ate here for lunch. I haven't been here in years. We shared the special (pollo asado plate) for $8.95. We couldn't finish it even when sharing. The portions are very generous. They also bring out beans, salsa verde and regular salsa with the chips. Everything was very fresh and tasted really good. Our only complaint was the server didn't come back to check on us much, waited awhile for refills and for them to bring us the right tortillas we ordered. Other than that it was great and we will be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
