Worst service! Walked out and wasn't even served! Get more help or close down! We weren't the only ones that walked out, the numerous times I had gone to Manzanita this place was closed. Find it open for the first time and don't get anything !!
I stop in here and buy 2-4 individual pies every time I'm in Manzanita. The cherry with coconut crumble is my fave. The all-American Berry and peach are my other go-to flavors.
This is just based on the 3 pies I have tried. It's a must stop if your right on 101, it's across from the Market. Apple, Cherry and Pecan. All top shelf. I really want to try the Banana Cream Pie. Nice and friendly staff.

One of the best meals we've had on the coast - or anywhere! Kind of place that makes Manzanita a bright spot on the coast. Whether you are at the counter by yourself or with a table of friends, you can count on a great meal, excellent service, and a great dining experience. Loved the menu offerings, and while a bit on the higher-priced side for typical Manzanita spots, it's a welcome addition to our favorite Oregon coast town. Love it!
Over from Bend Oregon with another couple doing some Geocaching on the coast. Stayed in Manzanita at a VBRO Seaward Dream, over the top, highly recommended and within walking distance to this restaurant. Overall, I we would rate this restaurant a full 5 stars, for the food, service and ambiance. We had a few appetizers and the lamb burger, more than excellent. The bacon wrapped apricot, yummy. But best of all was the Pot of Cream. A true 10 star. The folks running the establishment, server and chefs, were all friendly, not snooty, thank god. Nothing worse than a snooty restaurant. Thanks
Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly All your life You were only waiting for this moment to arise [1] I'm haunted by those lyrics and while I have no idea if this song inspired the name of the restaurant, I've been singing this song all week. Blackbird, the restaurant, is a delightful date night destination on the Oregon Coast. The seating is cozy (only an arm's length distance between tables) and we were glad we grabbed reservations although not all the tables were filled. We had a small table for two near the back of the restaurant, but my favorite seats were probably the four bar stools by the kitchen. The interior has a Portland vibe and the menu is quite small. I would advise that you check it out in advance, but it isn't posted on their website. Many items mentioned by other reviewers were not on the menu, so it is definitely seasonal and ever changing. Service was sweet, local and mostly on point. There was just a lag getting our second round of drinks, but that was easily rectified. The food was absolutely delicious. We were hungry, but not starving, the day after Thanksgiving, so we ended up ordering a beet salad to share and it was delicate and delicious. But, that dish was barely enough to share. I was worried the rest of our dishes would be equally petite, but they were just right. And the crusty bread dusted with salt to accompany our meal was a nice touch. The highlight of the night were the steamed mussels and frites. The delicate broth of wine and shallots, with seasoned fries on top, makes this a must order item. Our other entree was the sweet potato spaetzle with mushrooms and greens, topped by a runny egg (one of my favorite things). The cocktails were delicious, although the second Old Fashioned was MUCH stronger than the first. I was very happy with my Blood & Sand cocktail served in a quaint old fashioned glass. It's good, fast burritos and tacos. You cannot expect great Mexican or tex mexish food in this part of the country. I mean, you're on the ocean, so for a family it was a reasonable lunch stop in. There was a line the whole time we were there. Good customer service, order at the counter.
Not impressed. Taco salad was bland and not how I ordered it. Taco shell was cheap, stale, and not edible. Don't like to complain, so I just ate the salad part anyway. Half way through I bit into a cluster of taco seasoning salt and about gagged. It wasn't even a flavor of anything in my salad. Had to spit into a napkin and that was the last straw. Done! The outdoor seating is adorable and inviting, and the patio was full. So misleading. After reading Yelp reviews, I wish we wouldn't have stopped.
The taco salad was terrible! The food was cold, and the shell was inedible. While I was there I watched 2 people take their food back to get it reheated and or changed to the correct order. Lastly, as we were finishing eating one of the staff members came up to my friend and I and let us know very rudely we could not eat in the restaurant if we got our food "to go." As I understand this is a standard policy when we ordered it was very busy and I knew I would have to ask for a to-go box eventually and I was trying to save them time. There were over 8 tables open at the time. I would gladly accept this policy if there were people waiting for a seat but by that time there was no one in line and only 2 other families eating with plenty of open tables. It didn't make a difference if we stayed or not. P.S. the food was so bad I just threw it away and didn't even eat half of it.

$5 Happy Hour Tequila Sunset was excellent. Fish tasted fresh. Fries were very good, you get an ample portion as a side order. The coconut prawns were better than expected. The Clam Chowder was a miss. I didn't order it, but the shrimp in avocado looked delish. Patio seating was just right on a sunny day. Fish and Chips took a very long time, everything else about average.
What a great night and lovely spot! We planned poorly and didn't make a reservation, but they were sweet enough to fit us in. (Don't make the same mistake we did... You might not be so lucky!) I had the pork chop special, topped with Brie crumbles and fig and topped with a wonderful sauce, and my husband had the surf and turf. Everything was done to perfection and the service was excellent. I especially loved the rosemary potatoes... subtly flavored... We're so happy to have discovered this place and will definitely be back!
Booked through Opentable. Arrived 5 minutes early. We're rudely told we could wait outside. We were never asked for the name on the reservation. We noticed that our table was very sticky. It was clean but but needed a good refinishing. A good wine list to compliment the menu. The food was good but not great. The sole was overcooked. The sauce had no taste and added nothing to the dish. The server was good as was the service.

I AM SO IN LOVE! After reading some of the other reviews, I am fairly certain that when my boyfriend and I went to Terra Cotta it was under new ownership. This was a week ago, May 2015! NEVER have I had more delicious food! And coming from a family with a mother straight from Mexico that loves to cook, this is a high compliment! My boyfriend and I were absolutely starving, so we quickly ordered an appetizer, the Cajun Shrimp. I don't deal too well with spicy food but I was craving seafood and was hungry enough to give it a go. The dish came with plenty of sauce, bread, and butter. It was nowhere near "too spicy" for me, just flavorful! Each of our meals came with soup, and as there were two options, we each chose a different one. I had a tomato-y shrimp bisque and bf had a seafood chowder. While they were both delicious, the winner had to be the seafood chowder with its creamy deliciousness and large chunks of shrimp and crab! My bisque was also delicious but lacked substance. It was great for dipping breadsticks into though! We then received our meals, I had the seafood alfredo and bf had the steak with mushrooms on top, rice and asparagus on the side. WOW! I ordered the "safe" and "plain" dish because I was craving noodles and shrimp, expecting a rather boring experience but I was blown out of the water. There was so much flavor in this dish, and the shrimp were massive! The steak was even more amazing if that was possible. We also immediately asked for the recipe for the asparagus as asparagus is usually delicious but plain. Can't wait to make it myself! (Johnny's Seasoning and put it on the grill) We made it about halfway through the tender medium rare steak and buttery noodles before we were just full to bursting. Our lovely server came by to offer us a piece of dessert (all beautifully laid out on a tray so as to be ultra tempting!) and we decided to take the Reese's cheesecake slice home that she had made herself that day! We had it for breakfast the next day and it was beautiful. :) Apparently she also works at the pie shop that was next door, and that is where she was headed to prepare the pies for the next day after we left (we were her last customers but we NEVER felt rushed or like we had to leave). The restaurant is labeled as "casual fine dining" and it is fairly expensive. I would say the food absolutely justifies the price, as well as the fact that we did order seafood and steak. The inside is definitely "casual" but definitely cute and quirky. Definitely don't pass this little place up if you are going through Manzanita or visiting the cute little town!
Please ignore the repulsive and RUDE negative reviews below (I don't find someone's personal opinion of an "annoying" server to be of general use to me in selecting a restaurant). This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Oregon, and that's saying something. I feel the need to defend this place as it's quaint, charming, and serves delicious food. Not to mention the very friendly waitstaff. I have no idea how someone could come to this restaurant and give it a bad review. My husband and I vacation in Manzanita for 1 week every summer and always have dinner here at least once or twice. Just take my word for it and enjoy your dinner here!
We're back in Manzanita and came back to this restaurant after a wonderful experience here last year. All I can say is - see last year's review. Everything was just as good, and the service was perhaps even a little better. We love this place.

When I am feeling fancy, I get coffee with filbert juice and extra electricity. Most times it turns out like a sweet confection, not what I am looking forward for as my most important meal of the day. Hosanna! I had a coffee that was creamy without being too rich, filbert juice that, gasp, tasted like filbert; a slightly sweet shot of flavor. I got this and a lovely coconut macadamia cookie from Wanda, who seems to supply such things all over this part of the world. Not cloyingly sweet, just right. They have a huge selection of magazines and newspapers. They have gift items that are wonderful and reasonably priced. In Manzanita, or for that matter, most everywhere I have ever been, this is the stop. Just go and see that I am right.
My favorite coffee shop ever. The Americana's are fabulous, thick creme on top. Iced drinks come with coffee ice cubes... No watery drink after 10 Minutes! Sit under the trees and enjoy the fresh baked good too. Thanks Starr!
We spend a good amount of time in Manzanita. The last several times we've stopped in at Manzanita News, it's been terrible, rude and downright nasty service. They definitely don't care if they snap at you, make rude comments about using too many napkins and refuse to serve you when you arrive 3 minutes before closing. The barista needs to be fired! We will never go back. Manzanita has many other shops more than happy to kindly serve coffee.
