I'm not sure what all of these bad reviews are about. My first experience at Mazatlan was pretty good. I had the steak fajita burrito and it was really delicious. I also had a huge margarita that was not bad. The service was decent and everyone there was pretty friendly. So for all of you guys that are deciding not to try this place out because of all the negative reviews, well, stay home then. Bitch.

The service was slow and the owner does not care for newcomers. We got sick from the beans and not treated very well.

Nothing for us to complain about! Fast friendly service, excellent food and drinks! Clean and nice atmosphere. Thumbs up!

Nice atmosphere, the Mazatlan chain does a terrific job of creating authentic decor. I'm pretty sure that they must bring in workmen and materials from south of the border. That said, the menu is standard, the service indifferent, and the quality of the food pretty ordinary. It's got a great space for groups, which is about as much I can think of to say on the positive side. In a town like Madras with superb Mexican food (Rio for upscale, La Posada for authentic) and even a great pupusería (La Salvadoreña), why eat here?

How can a mediocre chain stay in business in a town with so many excellent Mexican restaurants? If you like chain restaurants, you'll like it here. It's about the only restaurant that has a big meeting space, so I eat here a couple times a year for work or parties. The people are nice, the prices aren't bad, but the food is so unmemorable that I can never remember what I didn't especially like the last time.

The look of the restaurant is pretty decent.. However, the customer service is the worst I've seen so far in the history of customer service. We came here for dinner and the server came to our table and asking if we are ready to order, he did not even ask if we want any drink aside from water, we gave our orders . The table is missing a set of utensils, I asked for another set (he nodded) took ten mins and follow up finally showed up, I asked for water (he nodded), I asked for a new glass because the beans fell on it (he nodded). He never visited our table to ask "how's the food", " Is there anything I can get you?" , more chips folks? This questions are basic when you are a server Everytime he comes by to bring food to the other table he NEVER looked or check our table at all. I have to ask him for water the last time and again he just passed by and nodded without looking at me. I couldn't believe I was eating here. The homeless people get more service , politeness and smile at Portland Rescue Mission than this restaurant and we are paying for our food, the homeless people are getting their food for free! PEREZ ( by the way, that's his name) always have high voice when you ask him questions, he never smiled, he never looked at you or stopped when you need something, he will just nod and continue walking, I couldn't believe the owner hires staff like Perez. Also, I noticed no one smile at this restaurant. Also, the place is big and when we came we waited for several minutes for a front desk staff and no one came out , I have to look for someone to seat us! The food wasn't good. My daughter did not even touch her sizzling fajitas, she just took some meat and covered it with sour cream. Oh well, maybe we are not used to sizzling fajitas with sweet tomato sauce and there are about six slices of meat. I ordered the same entree , and mine had 7 thin slices of meat. But they were generous with onions and peppers. I don't know what to think but paying $14 for each entree I expect more than six thin slices of meat. It was our first time and definitely our last. The owner needs to train Perez, he needs to learn the basic of how to serve food with a smile, politeness, attention to details, ability to understand the needs of one full table and always VISIT the table he is serving ,not only when it's time to give us the bill. My family and I are very disappointed with this restaurant. There were seven of us and we all ordered full meals. Wasted money. Lots of choices in Madras. Never again.

Just ate there tonight. We ate there last year and it wasn't bad, just the sake as every other Mexicoid restaurant. This year it was waaay worse. The staff clearly didn't listen to our orders, as both of them were wrong. My dinner was bland like no other Mexican restaurant I've been to. The only good things about my meal were the bean dip and the dinner company. At least I had a good friend to talk with.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
