I've driven by the Greasy Spoon Cafe for years, but never when it was open. Today I got lucky; the open sign was hanging in the window. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries, and it was better than I expected. (Hmm, I'm not even sure what I was expecting.) A warm, soft bun with a thin but large enough patty topped with two slices of cheese, fresh onion, tomato, and crispy lettuce. After the couple at the next table raved about their milkshake I wished I would have ordered one, but I'll be driving past here soon enough to try one, and maybe some pie too. I give it 5 stars, but don't confuse the rating with some yuppie San Francisco burger bistro. The name of the place says it all. And for $6.50 including a soft drink what do you want? The best part is the sign on the menu board that reads, "This isn't Burger King. You don't get it your way. You take it my way or you don't get the son of a bitch." Ha! Inexpensive food and a priceless sign. A winning combo for this greasy spoon.

My boyfriend and I were road tripping down the Oregon coast and happened upon this gem, unpolished as it were. We felt like we literally walked into this woman's kitchen and asked for breakfast. The food was awesome, and the banter from a group of locals didn't hurt either. It's a humble, no frills backwoods kinda place. If ambiance doesn't matter much to you and you're passing through, you must stop here. Also, they DO take credit cards!

We stumbled upon the greasy spoon while driving one day and decided we need to eat. The place is small and at first we got a feeling that they weren't very friendly. However, that changed quickly. The server was attentive and friendly, and she was the only one. The cook didn't have brown gravy ready and didn't really want to make it, but made it anyway for my husband. She made sure that we enjoyed our food, many times. He got the chicken fried steak and I had the biscuits and gravy. Everything was great and portions were just right.

Great redneck loaction. Great menu with home food like milkshake floats and breakfast with names like second childhood. I had the everything but kitchen sink omelet. Located in single wide mobile home. This place will take you back.

We were in town for Cape Blanco music festival and were looking for a place for lunch and decided to give the Greasy Spoon a try. All 4 of us were more than happy with our orders: clam Chowder, Grilled Cheese, Langloi Stack Up, Bacon Double cheeseburger and Everything But the Kitchen Sink omelet (which was huge). Overall great food and great service. They were very friendly!!

My husband and I ate at The Greasy Spoon after reading about it in a USA Two-lane Highway Tour Book. The sausage gravy and biscuits was homemade fresh to order and it was amazing. As well, the pancakes melt in your mouth and our over medium eggs were cooked to perfection; thick tasty bacon was to die for. We totally enjoyed our server and we even got a chance to chat with the owner/cook. Truly good folks and great home cooking!

I was passing by at lunch time on a summer roadtrip. The greasy spoon was perfect roadtrip fair. i had the ham melt with fries. Thick slab of ham with googy American cheese on perfectly grilled sourdough bread and the fries were good. My traveling compagnion had the tuna melt and these tater tot jalopeno poppers that I kept stealing off the plate. She is a self proclaimed tuna melt fanatic and she proclaimed it a great example of the golden sandwich.

Now just called The Spoon is a must stop! The breakfast is delicious for a good price. The pancakes are amazing as was the Mexican omelette. The portions are big! The coffee is typical dinner coffee brewed well but burnt. The service was good and friendly and the environment is simple but charismatic. This place feels hip without trying, serving local pasture eggs, fresh flowers on the table and every coffee is severed in a unique cup.

Traveling north on 101, the Restaurant was actually about 2.5 mi further up on the left from where yelp brought us. Stopped in for lunch at 1pm. We sat out front with our dog. We ordered the blue burger and the BALT (bacon lettuce avocado tomato). The food was delicious, especially the burger and thick cut bacon. Perfect fries too! But, the side salad was very small, and they had no pie left. Unfortunately, the waitress was not very personable or friendly, so low stars for service.

Don't pass this great little restaurant up! We've drove past it for years because of the name! But finally read the yelp reviews and decided to stop for lunch en route while road tripping the coast. So glad we set aside our prejudice for anything... Greasy. This was our second time here. First time was a delicious lunch. This time a brilliant breakfast! Mr. Picky choose an Andre the Giant size b'fast of biscuits & gravy, eggs and cottage potatoes. As if that wasn't enough for him he stole one of Mrs. Picky's four pieces of thick cut bacon from her simple Bacon & Eggs order. For being caught red handed in the theft of the bacon, he was punished by forfeiting 2 bites of biscuits and gravy. Excellent Mrs. Picky acknowledged. Now the Greasy Spoon is our stop doing the coastal run we do on business every two weeks. Can't wait to stop again!

Just what we needed after days of hiking and working our way up hwy 101. Tasty clean food. The pancakes were huge, the bacon was thick, the granola was tasty and the service was on point. I would totally go back!

Follow-up: breakfast is just as good as lunch, and I love that they're using local ingredients. The pie is crazy good.
