What a lovely B&B. I was lucky to find Bronze Antler at a bad time. The great weather I'd hoped for and that had been in the forecast turned into endless rain and even some early fall snow. I later found out I'd picked the rainiest September in Oregon's recorded history! As if we don't get enough rain in Oregon! The idea of camping in that mess of wet was unappealing, almost nauseating, just about against my religion, and the campground there is like camping in your local park, so I stopped at the Bronze Antler instead. Heather was a warm and friendly host and the place was comfortable, cosy and welcoming. It turned out to be the perfect place to hunker down for a couple of days until the worst of the weather passed. It was also in very good shape, being very well cared for something not true of all the B&Bs I've stayed at. Their cleaner is astonishing as I normally have to contend with dust issues because of allergies, but not this time. The place was immaculate. The bathroom had everything you could hope for and a few things you'd never have expected. The shower was awesome. The bed was very comfortable and I slept like a baby. The furniture, art and fixings also all added to the experience. I'm not sure I've ever stayed at a B&B with more nice touches. If they have forgotten anything I have no idea what it could be. They have some nice touches aimed at romantic couples so if you're looking for a romantic place to stay in a beautiful part of the world where you will be very, very well taken care of, then this is the place. It's also a great place for those doing work, with good wifi, plenty of power ports, a desk and so on, as well as public spaces where one can comfortably work. And if you just want somewhere to rest your weary soul, this is the place. I plan to return. And if the damned endless rain is around, this is a great place to stay dry and toasty.
We stayed here a few years ago on our anniversary, it was our first B & B experience and by far our favorite. Great breakfast, and in the off season the hosts can better focus on personalized service! We will most definitely be back!
We had the privilege in meeting Heather and Bill and staying for three nights in their fantastic B&B in one of the most beautiful settings in Oregon (sweeping views of the Wallowa Mountains and the Eagle Cap Wilderness), in perfect weather. We had the great joy of staying in their Mirror Lake Suite, which represents the bedroom and bathroom we both want when we win the Lottery! Beautifully decorated room, with huge king-sized bed, graced with a huge TV for watching DVDs (dozens supplied), Bose Bluetooth speaker for smartphone music, a nice CD player with a variety of romantic CDs supplied, it just goes on and on. And the bathroom! We hardly wanted to leave, as weird as that sounds. It had appliances we've never heard of: a toilet with heated seat, automatic lids, integrated bidet (and dryer!), and a 10-function remote control...; an enclosed steaming shower enclosure, with multiple choices of shower heads (including a foot wash), lights, and a radio; a huge tub for two, with lights and multiple-choice jets. Astounding...and fun! And then we get to the breakfasts, easily the best meals available in the Joseph/Enterprise area... Heather takes great pride in serving a wonderful variety of foods, too many to mention here, but rest assured you'll be impressed! She knows the area and its history and happily shares that knowledge. Wow. What an experience. You'll love Joseph and you'll LOVE this B&B and its hosts. Our highest recommendation! Mike & Judy

At first I was a bit worried... $13 for a plain single tall latte, a small cup of drip coffee and two scones... steep. And then we tried the scones. I would've paid the $13 alone for those two scones! If you're standing in line and someone from the back announces "We also have fresh baked _______ scones just out of the oven." Don't hesitate, just get 'em. Lovely setting. We were able to sit under the trees next to the small stream and enjoy our treats in comfort with our dog. (Yes, he liked the scones a lot as well. Two paws way up!)
Most chocolate mocha I have ever had. Who would as guess such good taste up here in Joseph!
Charming little coffee shop with great espresso, nice people, great baked goods, wifi. All you need!

This place opens earlier than others so that's why I chose it before starting early on a long hike. Definitely hit the mark. The bacon was delicious and cooked exactly the way I ordered it. I also had eggs which I ordered over medium (they were also perfect) and substituted a biscuit with gravy for the potatoes. All were delicious, the service was friendly and VERY fast, and the coffee was delicious! I plan on going here again tomorrow for breakfast!
I had the veggie breakfast scramble. Better than expected. Really delicious. And their potatoes were cooked to perfection. Small town charm but we didn't feel like "outsiders".
Great small town breakfast joint!!! This is our second year coming here and we will be back next year. The food is simple yet exceptionally made and you can tell there is love in it! Recommended for sure!

All in all pretty good. They had three beers on tap when I was there. I had the pale, it was good but a little malty for me. Food was great and view was rad. I'd go back.
This place is great! My husband and I are long time "vacationers" to Oregon's gem of a town and launch pad to incredible wilderness. Whenever we can ditch Portland for a few days we end up out here....that being said, we've been to every eatery in town numerous times and this new place is a welcome addition! Entrees are fresh and home cooked. There are many unique and healthy options here, not boring pub food that radiates across the state once you venture east of Bend. Service was great, food came quick and restaurant had a nice vibe, although I would have preferred a more "cozy" atomosphere. We sat outside, braving the sunny fall day to set up my husband's scope and view Big Horn sheep while we ate. Eat here and enjoy the great food and spectacular view of the Eagle Caps!
"Mutiny" stirs up visions of angry crew members, knives clenched in their teeth, swinging wildly from ropes and mercilessly taking over everything. There is nothing angry or merciless about Mutiny Brewing Company in Joseph -- it is instead a divine and tasty break from the same old boring, slapped together pub food. The atmosphere is warm, clean, bright and inviting. Lots of roomy tables inside and out, parking right near the door, and even a pretty little garden in front. The menu boasts vegan and gluten free offerings. We were greeted immediately and warmly. They had just two beers on tap, and that was it... kinda weird, but the taste made up for it. Please remember, I'm not a beer girl anymore, but my husband, Scooter, likes it enough for both of us. He says the strong red and the brown were very good..not amazing, but better than most. We were starving from our hike, but the menu made me wish I could eat for three. The hummus trio appetizer offered three perfect scoops of different flavors: garlic, kalamata olive and sundried tomato, ringed by pita bread, tomatoes, carrots, and celery. I ordered the chili lime fish tacos -- three on the plate and WOW, the wasabi sauce was amazing -- like taking yourself to first base. Scooter had the burger, and while our waiter skipped asking how he wanted it done, it was quite close to perfect. We liked this place so much, we returned the next day for lunch. Special that day was a chicken gyro. Whole kalamata olives, a wonderful sauce, tomato wedges and perfect chunks of feta all playing nice with thick strips of perfectly cooked chicken, cuddled in a soft, fresh flatbread, YUM! The gyro came with a choice of side --- I picked the sesame noodle salad which was delicious. Scooter went for the potato wedges. Both were most excellent. I had a couple bites of Scooter's dessert : dark brownie with a chocolate ganache sauce... there was a choice of sauces, one being chocolate lavender ganache.... ohhh. Will have to go back for that. The menu is varied, but perhaps a little pricey...? A spinach, strawberry, goat cheese salad with balsamic dressing was $10...add $3 for chicken breast. But the chicken gyros were $10, too, which seems just fine. Dunno, maybe I'm all crazy due to the high altitude out here. The soup o' the day on our second visit sounded delicious: sweet potato/chipotle squash. Didn't order it, as I was seduced by the Greek goodness, but suffice it to say that Mutiny is creating a food revolution in the genre of pub fare, and I for one am happy to show up, knife clenched in my teeth, ready to dig in.

A perfect pub for a rainy night of camping. The beer and food was delicious. Only exceeded by the service. The owner Theresa made us feel warm and welcome as if we were locals. The best pub in town.
This will be a short review as I only stopped here for drinks, but I loved sitting on the terrace. This brew pub offers a reasonable selection of microbrews. They say their selection is largest in E. Oregon, though I counted only 11 that they had in stock that day. (That number includes Widmer, the 9th largest brewers in the US at 450,000 barrels a year, so perhaps not quite a microbrewery) The best thing about this place is their charming wooden terrace out front and on a sunny day, this is it great spot for people watching. With a view over the beautiful, historic main street, Embers is perfect for a relaxing drink with friends. Not too loud either, because Joseph is a small, calm little town. I'll bet Embers is a lovely apres-skiing place in the winter too. Recommended!
We ate at The Embers on a lovely, if hot, late September afternoon for lunch. We sat on the main level of the three level outdoor deck which provides a perfect opportunity for people watching at Joseph's main street and a partial view of the mountains. Overall the setting and people watching were better than the food. We ordered the special of the day, a BLT with avocado sandwhich, which is a pretty hard thing to mess up, but we have to say the kitchen seemed to try to do just that. Although we ordered the sandwich with no mayo it was slathered on to the point that the toasted potato bread which was already pretty cotton ball in texture was made more so. The house salad that was the side was a disappointing composite of wilted iceberg lettuce and bottled (it seemed) dressing. The only thing more plentiful than the people on the deck were the flies. We realize that those pesky things are tough to control in an outdoor setting, but all the diners were swatting them away continually. Not a pleasant experience. The wait staff was very friendly. We'd go back to Embers for a beverage and people watching were we in Joseph again, but for dining we'd look to another Joseph restaurant or pick from a couple of very good options in nearby Enterprise.

I can't speak to the quality of the food, but the service is primo, the ice cream was fairly priced and delicious, and the decor is...well...for the tourists like us :-) Very fun! The young lady serving ice cream is simply a breath of fresh air. Nice to see a sense of pride and service in someone fresh out of college. Give'em a try at least for a beer at the outdoor bar and the ice cream. I bet the food is pretty good too.
We were told we HAD to eat here by some locals in Baker City. We are so glad we listened! It was too late in the evening to eat anything heavy, so we both had salads. They were large, fresh and super yummy. The honey mustard chicken salad was great and the chicken was phenomenal. The owners are super nice and the fellow patrons treated us like we were regulars. Ever one here is polite and welcome you with a smile.
We had a dinner at the Outlaw based on the recommendation of the motel we were staying at. The food and service was excellent and we had a great time. Having been traveling for 7 days we'd had a few bad dining experiences and the Outlaw was a real highlight of our trip, so much we came back a second night to try it again. The food and staff did not disappoint. We will definitely visit the Outlaw again next time we are in Joseph.

Some of the worst food I've ever eaten. Their burgers taste like a frozen patty that was thawed, cooked, re-frozen, and then microwaved. The service is impeccably slow.
The Stubborn Mule is a great place to stop and enjoy a great drinks, good food, and make a new friend!! the staff are easy going happy go lucky type of people! If you are there during the summer be ready to be around a lot of people since the place gets PACKED! Every time I'm in the area I have to stop in and have a Jack and Coke!! The only down side is that they are closed on Mondays! (I think it was Monday!!!)
My Favorite place to eat in joseph i eat here at least twice a year if not more if i get a chance during chief joseph days and our family camping trip to wallowa lake . its regular pub food but the burgers are really good. i like the feel f this place and the service is always really good.

Good food, good price, great views.
Coco's has a lot of potential. First off, the place is super adorable and the outdoor seating is very comfortable. We had good, friendly service and the food was out fast. I got the pulled pork salad, which was huge and great. My husband got the peanut shrimp tacos, which he says we're very very good. My only qualm is the prices--they are high. It was $13 for each of our entrees, and my husband had two tacos. Just two tacos. Nothing on the side or anything. Them are some expensive tacos! It was fine for lunch, but for dinner it would definitely have been disappointing. Also, it's a mix of Thai and Hawaiian food, for those like us who had no idea!
Delicious fusion food, great drinks & atmosphere, but super unpredictable hours! Took me several lunch & dinner attempts before we caught them open in high tourist season, but it's been open more now that it's off-season?¿?
