Love, love this place!! I eat here 3 times a week and EVERYTHING on the menu is great,, never had a bad meal! Service is wonderful!! Authentic tacos! Great carne asada!! Best Mexican food in Independence/Monmouth area!!!
Great food! I go here once or sometimes twice a week and usually order tilapia (a whole fish) with rice, or a fajita plate and it's delicious! I told a lot of my friends about it and they really liked it! So glad! The service is always great! I would definitely recommend this place!!
Everything on the plate is stupid good, expertly prepared, fresh and well presented. Tender, juicy beef, tangy crisp cilantro, fresh tasting beans and rice. I'll definitely come here again

Very cute. And good breakfast. Really nice people.
Loved our lunch here. Beautiful presentation. Food fresh and flavorful. Excellent service and attention. We dined outside on the front porch. I had chicken curry salad on greens. Delicious! Dining partner had the special which was thin sliced prime rib with carmelized onion and melted cheese on a french roll. Also delicious. The sides were good. I had some lovely fresh berries and melon. The sandwich was accompanied with homemade potato salad. Good salad but the portion was very small. Looking forward to dining there again.
Decided to have breakfast here while on vacation. I had the bacon, cheddar frittata. And a chai. My boyfriend has biscuits and gravy. Both were decent. Lacked flavor a little. The homemade biscuit was really good! My chai tasted like milk. It was not the best food I've ever had! Portions were large though. I probably would find another place to try before I went back.

I had crab puffs egg foo young my boyfriend had cashew chicken and a combination. The crab puffs at an odd texture and the won tons were Stale. The sauce on my egg foo young was plain bland and tasted like flour water and it was yellow in color not brown like it is anywhere else. The cashew chicken out of the whole dish had like 5 cashews in it and the chicken tasted bland and not seasoned at all. The place smelled musty and there was no beer on tap. There was no one else there when I went it and I can see why. I won't be going back.
I've heard such great things that I had to try them out. I ordered teriyaki chicken and I was shocked that it tasted like turkey and gravy!! Umm? It was awful! I ended up returning it and just sharing in the the large combo meal. It was ok. Not great service either. Just not a positive experience. I won't be back.
My friend and I went there for some take out. I got the lemon chicken and the curry chicken. They were both awesome. There prices are also really great. Can't wait to eat there again.

Good food trumped by substandard, slow service. We had to wait to be seated...its not crowded (four tables seated). We were more or less ignored once we ordered. "I'll be right back with some bread!" Oh yeah? When? Oh how about ten minutes. Great. There is no hostess...this is not the problem of the customer. I was pleasantly surprised by the food, but extremely turned off by the service. The service alone might keep me away. This is too bad because decent food is hard to find in Monmouth/Independence.
From scratch. Handmade burger buns, fresh-cut French fries, huge breakfasts, and a chef that likes to visit. Does not get much better than that! I am heading over soon to try his hand-selected ribeye steaks and homemade tater tots. Quality, great service, good prices and a beautiful building. One more thing-expect to wait a bit longer for your meal......cooked fresh from scratch takes a bit of time and is definitely worth the wait.
They try but appears the service has not improved. Watched as 4 groups left . The burgers are fantastic. Rolls are soft. Tots homemade. Greg makes some of the best he made foods. I think once the services gets better , mostly good, this place would be a place I would take friends and family. If you want fast food don't go in. You want food you would have at moms ... Go on in..

So my 11 year old brother only eats chips and salsa, and he managed to fill up on theirs because it was really good. I had chicken enchiladas, which they happily substituted rice for beans (and no dirty looks!). The chicken was shredded, and really well seasoned, so good to eat it. My dad was with me, and while it didn't meet his from Phoenix test completely, his plate was empty and he was full of happiness when we left. I will definitely go back, sans family, and try the monster margaritas!
My family always come here when I come home for Christmas break. They have the BEST chips, salsa and bean dip that I've ever had. They always refill out salsa and bean dip if we run out. The service is excellent. I'm not big on the booths (they can use a little updating) with stains and such on them. But the food is amazing. I usually get the enchiladas with tamale and it gives me a flavor of explosion in my mouth ever time. GREAT mom & pop place and for the price, its even better. I wish they had this in DC...
Casa Tequila has some great reviews, so we decided we should try it out for an early dinner. When we walked in, the décor was friendly and inviting (although the level of cleanliness was a bit nerve-racking.) We were seated quickly, but most of our other service was quite slow (we were literally the only customers in the restaurant at this time, so I expected quicker service than was provided.) We ordered two Carne Asada burritos, as well as a Chile Colorado burrito. The traditional chips and salsa were brought out, which were both quite tasty (and there were plenty of them.) The meal started out well with the chips and salsa, but ended on a lower note. While the Carne Asada burritos were mid-range as far as taste and quality, I was super unimpressed with the Chile Colorado (which happens to be my favorite Mexican themed dish in general.) It honestly tasted like the Chile Colorado you purchase in cans from Winco for $2.00, and the Colorado sauce truly looked as though it was from a can (overly reddened with separating oil, gritty texture, taste of tin.) It was disheartening, since my hopes were high after tasting the fresh, lovely salsa and chips. The meal ended with two free dessert chips (cinnamon with fresh whipped cream and strawberry topping) which would have been delicious if they hadn't been slightly overcooked with a hint of burnt taste to them. All in all, I would consider giving this place another try if they cleaned up their décor a bit, and didn't appear to pour my meal out of a can.

In a nutshell: good simple food at great prices. Tried this place for the first time for lunch during the week. Food was good and the price can't be beat - we both had their lunch specials which give you a decent sized serving of tasty pasta plus a salad for $6.95. I had chicken with marinara, everything was cooked well and flavorful. My partner had something with sausage that he also liked a lot. The lunch special menu has about 10-12 choices, all are pasta with chicken, meat, or veggies (only two had a sauce that was not creamy/cheesy though). Everything includes a salad (either caesar or house). The service was fast and friendly and the space is large and bright - it's on a corner with big windows. There's also a patio in the back. The decor is just a smidge cheesy italian, with some fake bunches of grapes here and there, but nothing overbearing. We will certainly come back sometime soon to try dinner too.
In a word....boring. I had the Pollo Carbonara. It was okay. Nothing interesting about it and I really didn't like suddenly biting down on a clump of parsley....but nothing too bad I guess. My husband had the cheese tortellini di zuccha. Tortellinis and butternut squash, mushrooms and spinach. He added a meatball. The tortellini seemed store bought. It was bland and mushy. The squash was really good and the meatball was good. Everything else was...meh. And the wine I got I really didn't enjoy, but I don't know much about wine, so maybe I just picked a bad one... All in all, no huge complaints, but we won't be back.
We had lunch there during the hop festival and enjoyed everything. Will differently be going back for dinner.

I've flown in and eaten here NUMEROUS TIMES. The food is always delicious. It redefines the term "The $100 hamburger". This place is usually packed, but has outdoor seating, which is a great touch. It's usually pretty clean, but sometimes it's so busy the waitresses don't have time to keep up. I've never seen a waitress standing around. They are super friendly and very helpful... The place closes at 3PM so get in early for a bite. Always a good choice.
Not a very good dining experience. Noisy, crowded atmosphere and when we walking in the hostess sighed and said "okay what do you want in or out." Our waitress was not very friendly either. the busser over filled a coffee mug and just kept pouring all over the table, lol. My aunt found potato skins in her glass. My "homemade corned beef and hash" was mashed potatoes with a couple pieces of corned beef at the bottom. Wondering if they ran out and just gave me the dredges of what was left - so I had toast for breakfast... Which was fine. The eggs Benedict was gritty, gravy was greasy, skillet was bland. I don't have much good to say about this place but giving them an extra starve cause maybe I was just there on a bad day?
Only place to really get breakfast in independence. The building is so tiny and there is ALWAYS a long wait- BUT no waiting area. When its nice outside the outdoor seating is great and its fun to watch the airplanes come in and out. The staff is mediocre, they arent the friendliest bunch, the food is decent and for a good price. We have picked up lunch to go here, I wasnt the one who picked up the food so I cant comment on that experience but the lunch menu was delicious!

I know it's Americanized mexican food, but surely the cooks can bring out a little more amor? I'm a born and bred Californian, so along with my tendencies towards aggressive driving, I have the knowledge of good Mexican food. This wasn't it. A Monmouth resident had encouraged us to try this place, it was late, I didn't get a chance to yelp it before arrival, and didn't realize there were other places in town with better reviews. Live and learn. The interior is lovely, the 6 of us were seated very quickly, and most of the table was thrilled with the chips, salsa and bean dip provided as an appetizer. After a few chips I noticed the unmistakable 'old oil' flavor and spoke of it out loud... the feeding frenzy tapered off some. Yeah, I'm like that. Wuhn-Wuhn! Mom and Dad ordered the fajitas, the chicken was DRY. Mom can be picky so I tried it and it was kind of 'off' in flavor, too. That citrusy cleaning solution (fake flavored marinade?) kind of flavor. :P My chile relleno was like scrambled eggs encompassing a chile. Not worth the calories, but certainly low carb. Flour with the eggs, people. It's an art, but you're a restaurant, and with real Mexicans as staff, from what I saw. What's the excuse? I may be white, but don't dumb it down! My friend had some sort of yummy looking meal with a bunch of sauce and cheese - enchiladas, perhaps? He said it was topped with spaghetti sauce. Yup, no heat, no flavor - I've made Mexican food for potlucks and know how much heat to put in, I imagine Oregonians may have a sensitive palate, but don't try to pass off such boring fare as authentico. Since I'm just a visitor to the area, I almost didn't review, but for those of you wanting REAL Mexican food in the area, try another place. For what it's worth, the server was very sweet and the *manager?* was pleasant.
We went here for a late lunch, and I was immediately unimpressed. As I walked through the door, I was forced to go through the restaurant and into the bar in order to find someone who could seat us. I soon realized that our female server was the only person working both sides of the restaurant, and with minimal customers (less than 5), she was still not very attentive. However, we thought the food might still be worth a shot :) Until we received it. We started with the bean dip and salsa. The beans were bland and had a strange unorthodox aftertaste, and the salsa tasted like it came out of a jar of El Paso. Unfortunately, a bad start just got worse. My lemonade was so overly sweet that I preferred to just drink water (I really tried to choke it down, but it just wasn't going to happen.) Followed by shredded beef enchiladas (not hard to perfect), and chicken mole enchiladas. The shredded beef was quite fatty, overcooked, and all around just bland. The chile sauce poured over it was oily, and rather disgusting. It appeared as though the cook has just given up and decided to serve sub par food to customers. I tried the mole enchiladas, and they were the outright star of a D rated show....the mole sauce wasn't terrible, and the chicken was at least well seasoned (although it too, was dry and overcooked.) I thought "At least this wasn't too bad" until I got up to leave and realized I was already feeling ill. We waited approximately 25 minutes to receive our check, and then we were forced to hunt down the same server/hostess/bartender/cleaner to pay. By the time I got into my car, I felt as though I needed to vomit. Which I did as soon as I got home. Please note - This was not food poisoning, just disgusting food. Anyhow, I will not be going back.
My entire time at Western, I HATED Monmouth. But FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, the last few weeks, I've had a craving for the manteca-licious grub at Los Dos. I'll be honest...I get the same thing every time I go: the mole enchiladas. The only reason I keep getting that is because they're so damn good! I mean, I try mole almost wherever I go (even in Mexico, which is a whole other breed of mole), and this is definitely my favorite USA-ized mole...ever. A little sweet, a little not, it's just so yummy! Also, I'm really, really, really ridiculously picky about my Spanish rice, and they get it right here. Perfecto! The margaritas, though, are another story. They're fine, but not maravillosas. They have really strong tequila flavor, but don't pack nearly as much of a buzz as the taste would suggest. Also, they always seem to be out of some of the bar ingredients. Take tonight, for example. Someone wanted a Sol beer. The waitress comes back and says they're out. Then he wants something else, to find that they're also out, and that they had Negra Modelo, Modelo Especial, and a few others. Service is also slow on soda refills, etc., and no extra chips and salsa if you're out. :( Price really can't be beat, though. You can get a full meal for less than $10. Muy bien, en mi opinion.

Really great toppings. Friendly staff. The reason I am not giving four stars-- update the decor.
Love mendis pizza! The pizza is a bit over priced and you have to pay extra for silly things like ranch or pineapple on the side. But the pizza is pretty good, no complaints about service and they have a drive up window which is nice when picking up!
Good regular pizza. Very good gluten free crust also offered. High priced though and the place could use some updated cleaning and love.

The food here is decent and you get a lot of food for what you pay for. I haven't really had anything I didn't like, but I haven't had anything that was so amazing I was talking about it after I left. The staff is friendly enough, though they can be a bit slow on refills. I do enjoy their blend of tea and they sell it as well.
Not good Chinese food. Would not recommend to anyone who is looking for good authentic or even Americanized Chinese cuisine. Bu hao.
I came to Jade Terrace because it's Saturday afternoon and both Yang's and Rice Time are closed. I got sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and almond chicken chow mein. The only thing that I really liked was the chow mein :-/
