Best Thai food that I've had, since visiting Thailand last summer. Actually their yellow curry is better then the ones I tried in Thailand! the prices seem kinda high for the food, but it's a small town, so I think they have to make up for less foot traffic here. I'll happily keep paying he prices though, because it's that good!

No other restaurant let alone a excellent Thai restaurant such as Lawan's would inspire me to give a legit 5 stars but this place ranks up there with Seattle's all-time favorate the Wild Ginger! but... I can testify Lawans is better (IMO) then the vaulted Wild Ginger yes I'm a Thai food junkie whose eaten in most of the best Thai places in Seattle--Mariners fan afterall so where else would I eat? :) incidentally...the Tricities isn't even on the same planet when it comes to this level of Thai, we are so lucky they settled here but the Tri-cities would have been better for me..evenso I will be here on a very regular basis!

An absolute gem in small town Hermiston, OR. Sunday Lunch: Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) Chicken w/ extra broccoli. This personal favorite typically requires an appetizer to fulfill my needs, but Lawan's left me satisfied with the entrée standalone. They have an All-You-Can-Eat Buffet Mon-Fri (10:30am-2pm). Not typically my jam, but doubtful any negatives there. Clean, very friendly, great service, and took pride in their food being served. Without question I'll be back, alongside some hungry co-workers.

Seriously, a restaurant this good in Hermiston? I have eaten Thai food at dozens of restaurants all across North America. I've eaten on both coasts and in between. I like spicy, fry your tongue, authentic Thai food. The food at this restaurant is easily in my top five favorite Thai experiences anywhere. Fresh, fragrant, spicy, delicious. I've been here twice now, and both times it was consistently fantastic. The service is friendly, but the atmosphere is a little "divish" so that's why I subtracted a star. Still, it's a great value, and I'll go back -- maybe tomorrow for lunch!

I have been working in or around Hermiston for quite some time. there are basically two Thai places in town. One of them is basically watered down with a large menu designed to cater to people that are not ready for authentic Thai food. and the other one is Lawan's Thai Garden. I have traveled up and down the West Coast my whole life and I grew up in a melting pot where authenticity is extremely important. the food here is extremely delicious. When you order from the menu you will be pleasantly surprised with whatever it is you receive. they have a little lunch time buffet which is a great bargain and awesome if you do not have a lot of time. however I do recommend you dine in and order from the menu and take your time the family will take good care of you. If you have a little bit of adventure in you then order the Thai hot! You will definitely need a cool rag and a cold beer close at hand. One thing I try at every Thai restaurant I go to is the green papaya salad it is extremely flavorful and super spicy if you like that sort of thing I order mine with the prawns. my other go to favorite is the drunken noodles with beef that is some next level shit right there (pardon my french) and you can not lose with the muscles as an appetizer. take a walk on the wild side and try it you'll like it

Felt welcome as soon as we entered, greeted with a smiling hostess who appeared, and sounded, as if she were Thai. Immediately seated in a clean and comfortable booth. Huge menu, with photos for every dish, good explanation. I asked the hostess for a recommendation, wondering what was popular. She was vwry helpful, making a couple of good recommendations. She seemed enthusiastic about the food, quite friendly and patient. We ordered Pad Thai with seafood, Terriaki Noodles with beef, and a half-order of Tom Kah coconut milk soup with vegetables. A full order of soup was priced as a complete meal, and I desired only a taste. The hostess had especially raved over their Tom, and she asked, and received, permission from the owner to serve us only half an order. The soup arrived first, served in a large, metal dish, heated with a self-contained flame, something like sterno. The flames were actually leaping out of the top of the dish! Quite exciting! I liked the soup. It was sweet, too sweet for my wife's liking...she took one sip and refused any more. But I liked it a lot. Strongly flavored, lots of different vegetables...much different from any other soup I've had. I would not recommend a full order...the half-order was more than sufficient for three or four full servings. The other two dishes were delicious. Intense, full flavor, nicely plated, ample amount. The service was great, very attentive, polite and friendly. The atmosphere is informal, comfortable, plenty of room between tables, contemporary Thai music in the background. None of the dishes are spicy hot, according to the waitress. They do not offer their soup by the cup, and they have no alcoholic beverages. I prefer traditional Oriental music. These were the only negative aspects of our experience. We enjoyed our meal and will plan to return.

This is one of our favorite spots in town! Excellent Thai food. Our favorites are the Chicken Pad Thai, Kow Soi with chicken, Green Curry and Pad Cashew. Good service, good food, good prices. We are definitely repeat customers.

The best thai food in Hermiston. Much better than "A taste of thai", unless you enjoy a terribly americanized thai food. This restaurant is as authentic as you can get in these parts of the state. The portions are nice and well priced. I do suggest you order at least 3 in spice or else the food is bland. I highly recommend. We will be going back.

I typically try a Pad See Ew my first time at any Thai restaurant ... and Lawan's passed my test with flying colors! The place has zero ambiance but the staff are so friendly. Come for the food and you'll leave happy!

The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly and fast. I've tried multiple dishes and loved them all. My favorite restaurant in town!

Fresh food, great soups (Tom ka), and decent prices. I almost gave them gave 5 stars, but they recently switched up the crispy orange chicken to something I am sure is prepackaged. That was a great dish and it will be missed.

Visiting from CA didn't expect to find really good Thai restaurant here in this small town. We enjoyed the fresh spring rolls with shrimp. Fresh & delicious. I had Pad Thai my husband had the Barbeque Pork both fresh & delicious. Fast service & they had WIFI! Oh, I forgot to mention how clean & nicely decorated it is.

At first, my husband and I were a little scared coming here for lunch. The place was completely empty, but we think it may have been because of the awkward timing we had: it was in between the lunch buffet and the dinner special. We ordered the green curry with beef and the drunken noodle with chicken. Wicked good. We were very surprised.

We were looking for good food and the local Denny's and Shari's just didn't cut it. Yelp reviews led us to Lawan's and did not disappoint. Pad thai noodles were right on, green papaya salad refreshing, and my favorite was the vegetable tofu roll with two type of sauces. My only complaint is that the mango sticky rice dessert was slightly undercooked. I've had this dish at many different places and the rice was not so, for lack of a better word, al dente? Otherwise the dessert was just the right sweetness which perfectly complemented the slight tartness of the mango. Also staff was nice, place was clean, and again food was delicious.

Some of the guys and myself was in town training and had a taste for Thai. Some of the locals suggested this spot and it was a sure thing. Didn't expect a small town like Hermiston to have good Thai food, but it was a good surprise. Whenever we're in town we will certainly come back again.

This is the best Thai food in eastern Oregon. Large plates of delicious food. Their thom kha soup is so good i have to get it regardless if it's 105º outside. The service is amazing. They're friendly funny and always attentive. Their Thai coffee and tea is omg fantastic. The vegetables are grown and picked fresh from the owner/chef's garden every morning. This is the place to eat Thai if you find yourself in hermiston hungry.

I love this place! the setting is appropriate and bright and the staff are wonderful and very attentive when you eat in and respectful and fast when you order out. Phad Thai Noodles with Beef is great and this last trip I tried the Salt and Pepper Calamari which was good, a bit chewy, but still overall good. If I would give one negative it is the hugely loud bell that rings when you enter and exit it is ear-numbing. My second visit is as good as the first and I will definitely be back.

Visiting Hermiston for work, I looked for somewhere to grab dinner without much hope. Wonder beyond wonder, I found this place! I can't believe this place was empty when I walked in, considering how good the food is and how large the portions are. I highly recommend the Drunken Noodles with the Seafood combination. Delicious wide, homemade noodles. Very tasty sauce with a kick ("Medium" they said) . And the scallops, calamari, and shrimp was quite fresh, to tell by the satisfying texture and taste.

The food and service were excellent. Surprised to find this gem in the small town of Hermiston. We ordered the mixed appetizer plate, which was a delicious sampling of wontons, spring rolls, chicken, and coconut shrimp. My husband ordered the crispy garlic chicken which was ok, made better by adding chili sauce to it. I ordered the chicken red curry which was divine. The portions are generous and we both had leftovers.

Had their green curry and it was amazing! The restaurant is very clean and the appetizers were excellent. We always get the variety appetizer and it never disappoints. The pad thai had too much fish sauce when we went last trip, I would suggest asking for less if you order that. Otherwise this is our go to place in town so far.

We also do family style at Thai restaurants. We ordered some fresh rolls, Tom Kah soup, ginger beef dish and a green curry. The food was quickly made and they use good fresh produce. I'm usually one to not complain about price, but this meal with 2 beers was $55 with tip, a bit on the steep side.

Clean, spacious, and pleasing Thai decor. Don't let the appearance of the outside of building deter you from dropping in. Friendly attentive staff. Good food. We did not order appetizers or desert this time. We will come here again when in town.

We ate at this place last night. Very clean and well decorated. Wait staff are very courteous. The food was very good. All fresh, well plated and reasonably priced. The fresh salad rolls are addicting. Hubby had Steamed mussels with basil and cilantro and I had the Tom Kah, a spicy sweet, coconut soup with mushrooms and prawns. The menu is quite large with pictures of each item so you know what you are ordering. No adult beverages. We will definitely return for more.

BEST Thai food we had in a while. Don't be afraid by hole in the wall place with ugly decoration. The food speaks for itself. Absolutely AMAZING!! Wish we can take this place to Seattle with us.

Wonderful, flavorful food with great service! Our first trip was lunch this past Wednesday and we tried the green papaya salad (a 3 really IS hot!), beef pad see ew, shrimp yum, and chicken larb. We loved all the flavors. The green papaya salad and pad see ew were our favorites but it was all good. Only minor complaints were the big pieces of beef in our pad see ew were tough and the chicken in the larb was very hard. It all tasted fresh and delicious though! Hands down the best Thai food in town!

Just...WOW!!! I had the Basil Fried Rice and my wife had the Drunken Noodle. I don't know how a small out of the way place in Oregon managed to get so lucky but you are truly blessed to have this establishment! I have traveled all over the world and spent a lot of time in Asia, including Thailand. Many times you will go to Thai restaurants where the owners have 'Americanized' their food, not so here! I can say this is truly authentic and delicious food! If you have a chance to eat here, do it!

As someone who lived in Thailand for years I was overjoyed that they serve som tum (green papaya salad). Looks, smells and taste like it should which is a victory of epic proportions for the states. The sticky rice was too moist though and a tad overcooked. You couldn't for nice balls out of it, it just mushed. Over all I'm very pleased and will return, esp. in summer when they apparently serve pak boong, a staple Thai veggie dish that is rarely on a menu.
