Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Just sat down and the server wss very prompt and friendly. Answered questions about the menu. She was very accommodating. The chip are warm and the salsa is delicious. Can't wait for the meal. I have high hopes. Our meal came and it was great. Now some sopapillas for dessert. ;-)

Delicious ...loved the salsa the chips but even better, the shrimp coctail. Coctel DE camerones. CLEAN and friendly

Best mojitos E.V.E.R.!!! Omg they're so addictive and their chips and salsa are awesome too. The entrees are huge and really good too. Definitely our go to Mexican restaurant!

For a Mexican restaurant food is pretty bland. Only good thing about the place is the bar. Service was decent but taste is below par.

The food wasn't up to their usual. Everything didn't have hardly any flavor or texture. It all ran together. This was a Tues night. The marguerita was really weak and it's like the Agave was forgotten. Not up to par on both our meals.

Tasteless food. Tasted like something you would microwave. Horrible. Decent bar. Clean bathrooms. But for the price you pay was horrible food. The wait staff was not very attentive either. Avoid this place unless you just want a margarita or something.

Decent Mexican food. Stopped in for lunch. Was promptly greater, seated, and given a batch of fresh (spicy) salsa and warm chips. Ordered the Burrito Express. It's a decent sized burrito with rice, beef or chicken, beans & topped with shredded lettuce and tomatoes. It was enough to satisfy my hunger, and then some. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. I especially enjoyed the murals painted on all the walls. If I ever come back this way, it's on my list of places to try again.

Love this place. The food is great and the service is always good. They are very good about my allergies to certain foods.

Solid family restaurant. Particularly impressive was the guacamole made at your table with fresh ingredients. Also, suitable for yound kids, with enough space for birthday parties.

Love their food and the service is great! We eat there regularly.

From the outside, you'd never believe this place would be quality mexican. We stopped here based on Yelp reviews. They started us out with the usual chips and salsa. Ok salsa but chips were marginal. Bummer. I tried the Chile Colorado burrito. The chile colorado was flavorful and the tortilla was fine but not outstanding. Good compared to what I'd expect from a random restaurant in Hermiston but not a four or five star place.

Good family restaurant. The food was fast and very good. My younger son, who is hard to please sometimes, asked if we could go back there for dinner. The restaurant is very spacious and very clean. If you're looking for somewhere in Hermiston to eat, this is the place.

I've been here twice and both times I was full but not really impressed. The food is acceptable, bordering on the bland. Not very authentic, in my opinion. The menu is quite large and offers almost ever item you might want from a Mexican restaurant, though I found both times the quality was lacking. There are better places in town to eat, but not many. Don't cross it off your list, but don't make it your first choice, either.

The ribeye and camarones are delicious but the margarita left much to be desired. Still a good hispanic restaurant in a small town like the Herm.

This place is flat horrible!! Expensive kids meals, bland food, salsa was like watered down tomato sauce with no kick at all. Not to mention the tummy ache my husband and I received tummy aches the next day. Never will I go back. Thought it would be a convenient stop on the way to families while we were in town but wish we would have skipped it altogether.

For such a little town, I was surprised at how busy this restaurant was when we walked in, but I fully understand why based on the great food, great service, and great value! Thanks for such a superb meal!

Even better the second time around! I had the deep fried beef burrito with rice and beans and chips as you see I included in the pictures. I'm going to miss this place when I leave.

Have been here twice service had improved the second time around. Last visit had the Steak Mexicano, liked it! A good meal.

Pretty good Mexican restaurant! Great selection of different dishes from south of the border. I had the carnitas de pollo which were delicious. I'd have liked some more spice to my food but that's just personal preference. Great place to take the family! Not the place for a romantic dinner.

Ixtapa recently opened near the Burger King in Hermiston and it took me a few months to get a chance to visit. I'm sorry I waited so long! Awhile ago, the go-to Mexican restaurant in Hermiston went out of business and, unfortunately, the restaurant that moved into their location is not near the quality or service. Ixtapa thankfully fills that void. On my first visit my friend and I had a delicious dinner that filled us both and, with drinks plus tip, was less than $30! The service was also excellent. My second visit, I took my niece to lunch and was pleased to find they had an extensive lunch menu. My niece, a notoriously picky eater, devoured her cheese quesadilla and said it was the best one she'd "ever had!". High marks, in my book. And, again, excellent service. The atmosphere is typical of many Mexican restaurants I've been to, but the dining room is large with tables that can be easily arranged to accommodate a large group (which is something most of the restaurant in Hermiston are lacking). They also have a full bar/lounge area with special drink menu, if you're just stoping by after work. I'll be back to Ixtapa in the future and while probably be planning a few family dinners out here, as well. Give them as shot, you will not be disappointed!

My husband and I have to visit Hermiston every month or two for his work, and we always eat at Ixtapa when we're there. The owners are absolutely wonderful people, the food is delicious, and the service is always great! Sadly Hermiston is not a dining mecca, so considering the town, it's pretty darn good! They have a separate lounge area with a full bar, and if you ask, can thankfully make you "real margaritas" on the rocks, for those of you that know the difference.
