I agree with all the reviews. Great family spot with extremely reasonable prices. The tuna sandwich and burgers with great. They accommodated nine of us bikers with no issues. Nice family that owns it too.
Yum! What an unexpected find in the small town of Heppner. Delicious food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere make for money well spent! Vegetarians and vegans, don't forget to stop here when you're in Eastern Oregon! Lots of great options for you =)
Wonderful place to stop for breakfast. They bake all their own bread and pastries so if you order toast it'll be fresh, yummy, and delicious. The stawberry rhubarb roll was to die for! Owners are very sweet, friendly and welcoming as well as are a pleasure to talk with. Prices are very reasonable, if not too low and the home made food is amazing!

Not that you have any choices of where to eat in Heppner but this place was a pleasant surprise. The owner is a descendant (great grandson I believe) of the founder of Shakey's Pizza and Howe's does his ancestors proud with an identical pizza. I was visiting from Portland on business and my coworker and I sat down and immediately said to each other that this pizza reminded us of our first memories of eating at a pizzeria. His being Shakey's and mine being Pietro's. Only when we spoke with the owner before we left did we discover the true lineage of the restaurant. How cool! Either way, it's a fantastic thin crust pizza destined to send you back in time if you're familiar with: Shakey's, Pietro's, or Abby's (Abby's being a spin-off of Shakey's) The interior is unassuming but the people and service were fantastic.
Seriously... I have eaten many hundreds of slices of pizza and I don't think I've had a pizza crust that I've liked better! Dude knows how to make a pizza crust! It was a very thin, cracker like crust that was still strong enough to support the whole piece of pizza. I had the barbecue chicken pizza and it was phenomenal! Unfortunately, the place has 0% atmosphere with the exception of the very friendly and fun to talk to family that owns and operates the business. You can always get it to go! If I lived in this state and near this town, I would make a special trip for this pizza!
I never liked thin crust pizza until i ate here. Awesome. Good burgers. Good fish and chips too. Don't forget to have some DeSalvo Italian ice cream made fresh on the premises. I took away one star because of the price of the pizza is on the high side.

We asked around in the mercantile, in the paleo museum and on the street and most recommended RJ's over the Big Timber. So we went on a Saturday night. Half restaurant, half bar. We sat in the sparsely decorated restaurant which had a steady stream of patrons. I ordered the prime rib (12 oz) and was amazed at the size for under $10. My wife ordered the halibut and got razzed for ordering a fish plate in the middle of the freaking Eastern Oregon desert! Amazingly, the fish was quite good and the owner told us she had it drop-shipped (whatever that means) weekly. One of our friends ordered the shrimp combo and I thought it looked kinda measly compared to the prime ribs and halibut dinners. Salad was crisp and fresh. Baked potato good. No veggies for prime rib dinners, but I suspect it was because there was no room on the plate! Not that we frequent Fossil often, but if we do, this is a must do again.
