We stopped in here for an early breakfast on the way out of Portland - headed over the mountain toward Warm Springs, OR. Excellent down home American breakfast! Hot, crisp hash browns with onions and bell peppers, two eggs over easy, a biscuit, and thick, chewy, buttery bacon! Plus coffee and water. Good service! Would eat breakfast here again! NOTE: The correct name of this business is: Elmer's Restaurant elmers-restaurants.com

I love elmers it is right down from my apartment. The rock salt prime rib on their dinner menu is the bomb, and there is always enough to home with me, I love leftovers. The staff is always friendly and happy to see me and very helpful. If I don't have time to dine in for some reason I can get it to go and my dinner is just as good if I was to dine in. I recommend this place to anyone it gets 5 stars in my book

Just went to Elmer's yesterday with a friend. Had a wonderful small portion (not going to say Senior) Chicken Fried Steak and the wonderful waitress Brenda got my order just perfect. I did not want to yummy biscuit or hash browns but she offered me fruit instead. Thank you Brenda for a wonderful breakfast

So after my lackluster review, a few days later I was contacted by the Social Brand Manager for Elmers, who apologized for the poor service and quality of the food, also saying that my comments were passed on to the manager. I was also offered a complimentary meal for two, with beverages, if I wanted to come back. I seriously did debate accepting this, because I'm not hanging out looking for free stuff, but in the end, I opted to give it another go. Because honestly, every place can have a bad day, and there really aren't that many joints in Gresham, that I've noticed. So my girlfriend and I went back, to the same location, and I will say that I'm glad we gave it another shot. The service was marginally better, and I think that's just the way it is. They're not a busy, bustle and hustle place, I guess, more laid back. Not really what I look for in a restaurant that I'm not a regular at, but I guess that just shows that this particular place caters to a "family regular" style of business. Our order was taken quickly and since last time I didn't particularly enjoy my choice of the chicken fried steak, I went with the flatiron steak and eggs. Yes, I also noted that this was the most expensive item on the breakfast menu. What can I say; I'm a user. My girlfriend went with the same thing she did last time, eggs, bacon and pancakes. Our food came out very hot and quick, this time, though my soda refills were still a tad slow. I'll admit, I might be a little nitpicky on that, but only because I watched two waitresses circle the area and not stop by our table. But the morning we went, it was pretty busy, so I'm probably just being over sensitive. The steak itself was actually very tender and flavourful. I ordered it well done and it was cooked perfectly, with a very delicious steak butter over the top. The hashbrowns and eggs that came with it were very good, and the biscuit was a pretty decent biscuit. My girl enjoyed all of hers and agreed that the bit of steak she tried was very good. All in all, I've been to better places, but I have definitely been to worse. On further consideration, this is a pretty solid joint, though it would be nicer to have a little bit more of an attentive wait staff. The food, at least with breakfast, is standard fare, and what you see is what you get. Actually, though: the Northwest hash browns with Tillamook cheddar cheese mixed in with them should be the hashbrowns every restaurant is required to serve. What would make them better would be the addition of bacon pieces in it. Not necessarily good for your longevity, but good at the moment.

Delicious! First time here, and the wait staff was very inviting, courteous, and friendly. The food was great, and my kids loved it! Coffee at 4pm was fresh, the fruit was fresh, and the fries were deliciously crispy.

Is this really an Elmer's Restaurant? The place needs a good cleaning...and then they need to visit some of the other Elmer's locations to see how it is supposed to be!!! The Vancouver, WA locations are VERY different. I think the Gresham location is using frozen products and the quantities are so much smaller than other Elmer's, it makes one wonder what is going on. Please, dear Manager and dear Kitchen Manager...order the fish at another location & then try to tell yourself that it is the same at yours...NOT. Corporate needs to visit and FIX it or DUMP it.

Clean, friendly service, and great local photography. However the food is just average fare. Large chain restaurant style menu with no fresh ingredients just Sysco.

We frequent this place on a regular basis and are impressed by the fact they try and use local produce and foods from the PNW! Keep it local! They are always willing to accommodate any dietary needs!

Stopped in here with a friend. Very friendly staff, quick to take order. Food promptly arrived fresh and hot. Coffee was decent. Lots of menu items to choose from! This chain doesn't exist in California as far as I know, so I expected Denny's-style food and atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised with much better food and service. Great prices too.

I've been going here since I was very young and even through ownership changes Elmers remains one of the best breakfast houses around. Lunch and dinner plates are pretty good too but this is a very good place to eat breakfast. It's always very clean with nice service and excellent food. Great for families with a comfortable atmosphere.

Like Burgerville, Elmer's is a greater-PDX institution. And waaaay out here in Gresham, Elmer's is a satisfactory no-fuss All-American kinda breakfast/lunch option.

Ate here for the first time and the food was DISGUSTING and the service was very disappointing. Who can go wrong with a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato? Elmer's can. My sandwich tasted extremely sour and there was no cheese on it. One half had a tiny bit of cheese on it and the other half had NO cheese on it. I showed the server, she responded with "I know they put the cheese on the bread at an angle"! I just spent $8.29 for the worst tasting grilled cheese sandwich, with NO cheese!! She offered in no way to make it right. My husband had the waffle, eggs and sausage (which was nothing to write home about). There was someone sitting right next to us enjoying his food so I chose to call the mgr as soon as we left to let him know how awful it was. He said I appreciate you not saying something in front of others but there is not much I can do now that you left. The most I could do is take your name (which he never did) and give me a free dessert. We just spent $26.93 for the worst meal and give this restaurant 2 thumbs down, including the server and manager! I do not recommend this place to eat!

Great breakfast the bacon is thick and wide with good hash browns. First time eating a German Pancake. Feels like your eating a giant crepe thought it was pretty darn good wish I had the berries with it. This place does circle around I Hop for breakfast and more affordable for the family.

Stopped by this morning for breakfast prior to The Mopar Summit Car Show. Elmer's is predictable and always good no matter which one you choose. I had a ham and cheddar omelet, hash browns and sourdough toast. It was very good, tiny bit cool by the time it landed, but it was indeed tasty. The sourdough bread was excellent I wish I knew which brand they used. Everyone else in my party seemed to enjoy their breakfast's as well.

Has a diner-like feel inside, and the service is quick, solicitous and friendly. Coffee and water are served immediately, and our order was taken within 5 min of being seated. I had the veggie omelet with egg whites only--it was perfectly cooked, light and delicious. Good ratio of veggies to egg, and the veggies were sautéed separately from the egg. And they didn't charge extra for whites only! My husband had the apple baby--crisp a and light and flavorful. The restroom was really clean and modern also. I'll definitely be back!

Service and food is always great! My only nit pick is the lingonberry crepes they are tasty but for the love of the sweet baby Jesus please stop mixing the lingonberries with the butter and it shouldn't be cold!! Cold butter mixed with he berries is gross and even warned up its too much butter...yuck!! Separate those delicious ingredients

Dined here on a recommendation for a good brunch with the wife. The food was well prepared, with the delightful characteristics of a home cooked breakfast without the inevitable burnt taste from the wife's cooking. The menu had a few interesting items I look forward to trying in the future now that I know they do the basics right.

I'm eating here right now! The service here is amazing and the staff is so sweet! Even now I can here the staff laughing in the back (even as they get all their work done, and make sure all their customers are happy), and it just makes me think what a happy place it is to be here, and it looks like such a nice place to have a job! I love it here!

Extraordinary service. No wonder they've been around so long. Great food quality. Anticipated my needs on where we wanted to sit and welcomed us to a quiet corner where I needed to get some work done. Really outstanding customer service.

Elmer's is one of the best in their field. Their consistency is their absolute strength. I have never been dazzled by the menu but have never been disappointed. Every thing on the menu is tasty, I enjoy the atmosphere and the friendly fast service.

Always a good breakfast stop. Nothing out of the ordinary but always consistent and good. I have been going to this location for over 20 years and though it used to be better it never disappoints. My favorite is the German pancake!

it's not too common to stop into a restaurant on the road not knowing what to expect, hoping for the best. elmer's was our best breakfast choice this roadtrip! hubby's denver omelette was the best he's had in a long time. fresh and plentiful ingredients, perfect hash browns. my breakfast sandwich was perfectly cooked. and to top it all off, chelsea, our server just made my day totally. her smile and happy attitude was wo contagious. we'll be keeping our eye out for elmer's whenever we travel!

You need to have the German pancakes with powdered sugar and lemon butter it is hugh and so good made with lots of eggs so it is very airy. Hubby had the turkey dinner with all the usual stuff which he also enjoyed

I frequent this Elmer's in Gresham and always have a good eating experience, plus the staff are always super attentive. The only thing I would suggest is to change your club sandwich back to normal bread! Because the club is delicious and deserves better.

I had been coaxed here by a breakfast lover, once again. I do stick with the lunch menu, however, being the anti-breakfastie that I am. I usually get the grilled chicken sandwich, but lately they've changed it ever time I order it. It used to be a nice piece of chicken breast on a ciabatta bread, then it turned to what seemed like boiled chicken breast on a sad little bun. So, I tried the basic burger and added avacado to it. It seemed like it was a preformed discus of some sort, not bad, but not great, the sauce was barely noticeable, which was fine, it looked like a thousand island base? Overall it was just okay, Sizzler up the street has a good charbroiled tasting one, for less money. My burger was $8.95 and came with a small side of fries. Usually, at Elmer's they are constantly checking on you, but this waitress let us sit forever, running out of drinks, more than once. We were right by where they come out of the kitchen and we could see her just standing there talking to somebody, so we probably weren't the only ones being neglected. My husband got the Hungry Rancher special and it looked pretty good, from my anti-breakfastie perch. I could see 3 eggs, hashbrowns, ham, bacon and sausage, with a biscuit. He said it was pretty good. That is $9.99. Overall, not a bad place to eat in Gresham. They do offer desserts that are $2.49 and we split a strawberry sundae, which I expected to be pretty small but it was a full size version, covered in whipped cream and strawberry sauce with bits of strawberries in it.

We love this Elmer's. It is always very clean, and while it can be crowded, it is one of the few breakfast spots in Gresham. We had GREAT service from Marissa yesterday morning. She was very attentive and friendly. Food was great----I had the very naughty German pancake with lemons and butter, served with a side of crisp bacon and 2 eggs for about $10. Hubby had the German pancakes with caramel apples---oh yeah. All was delish. Very generous portions and friendly service---love it.

Has always been a good go-to place for a good meal. I've had a friend work here so I was coming quite a bit until she left. Food was always good and the place is bright and friendly looking. It's a bit pricey for a breakfast place but it's always been tasty. I go in expecting something and I don't leave disappointed. I LOVE the prime rib and bleu steak meal, I can never really get anything else. Never been let down and service is decent.

Consistently good. Quick service. I am always amazed at the amount of friendly staff. I tried the shrimp skillet. WOW! Loved it. This is one place that even when you go for your tried and true favorite you get tempted to try something else. Glad I did I found yet another favorite. Good job Elmer's.

My husband and I stopped in for dinner. We have never eaten here so not really sure what to expect. It was rated as a 1$ and there were some good reviews, so why not try!? Well, the food was really bad. Maybe an off night but some of the things we did not like are probably a constant here. Things like the vegetables being (soaked) in some fake margarine type spread. Artificial butter, really? It was really greasy and tasted like the fake stuff that they put on popcorn. My fish was badly overcooked and dry. My husbands food was no better. The price was not what I would rate a 1$. We paid $23 for two of us. I drank water and he had a cup of coffee. Nothing but the two meals were ordered. The wait staff were nice and on the ball. No issues there at all. It seemed funny, when we walked in they were already waiting for us with 2 menus in hand! Very polite and all that.

I'd never been to Elmer's in the 20+ years I've been here. I pictured an outdated restaurant where I'd be surrounded by great-grandparents. I was wrong! The restaurant was bright, cheerful, and inviting, with tons of great local photography. The service was outstanding. The menu was impressive. Best of all, breakfast was extra-ordinary. The coffee was really good too. I can't wait to go back. I think I have a new favorite breakfast place. I can't believe it!
