If you want an old fashioned cafe experience, come to Connie's. Joe and Connie will make you feel at home. The banana splits are to die for. And you can get ice cream treats in so many flavors. Burgers, hotdogs, and good old fashioned food. Breakfast served all day. Try the scrumptious shakes served in any of the ice cream flavors. Oh,and old fashioned drinks like a Shirley Temple,Roy Rodgers,Malts and green river.
A different kind of Ice Cream Shop. My burger was delicious. BF got the turkey and thought it was good. Saw several ice cream items bought and eaten.
This place sells Cascade Glacier Ice Cream, from the Oregon Ice Cream company out of Eugene... its SO Good... Must try it. I had Strawberry -- Yum.. and my wife had their Lemon Meringue Pie Flavor - Very good. The guy who helped us out was very friendly and fun. Worth the drive or walk down the street. Skip Baskin Robbins and come here.

Phil’s 1500 Subs

I usually love small sub shops that aren't chains, but wasn't completely impressed by this one. The bread seemed fresh and pretty good which was a plus, but nothing special about the toppings. I got the turkey avocado, and it was pretty bland. My wife got the French dip and it was pretty disappointing. Bread wasn't toasted, just seemed to have a little layer of meat and melted cheese. Also, I'm not going to really knock them on this, but it would have been nice to know it was cash only. They had an ATM but it's like a paid an extra $2 for my sandwiches because of the fee.
We love Phil's subs.. We're vegetarian so we always get the 700.. It's always so yummy and the staff are always so nice! We don't live in Forest Grove but make the stop as often as we can.. Keep up the great work!
I don't know what's the big deal with there subs.....it's boring and bland. ...the cashier said our subs are better then subway. I don't agree with the cashier, subway sandwiches are a lot better!

We live in the Portland area and treated our friend to some wine country and a night at the Grand Lodge. We were looking for a good breakfast spot this morning, so of course I checked yelp. This place was the highest rated and the reviews looked good for the most part, so off we went. The first thing I was unsure of was the location. It is smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood, and let's just say that never everyone's yards were so nice to look at, and listening the the couple a couple houses down was not what we wanted to hear while eating and enjoying the sunshine. Let's get to the important part: the FOOD. My husband ordered the Chicken Fried Steak as per the recommendation in one of the reviews, I got the breakfast plate with your choice of meat, eggs, potatoes, served with a side of biscuits and gravy, and our friend got some cajun scramble of sorts. The CFS was frozen. Yuck. The gravy was NOT creamy nor delicious because it was from a powdered mix. My over easy eggs were over cooked. I ordered shredded hash browns and got the other version but was too hungry to even say anything. After our food was dropped off we were on our own. She didn't check back once. She brought the check 20 minutes later, and didn't even ask how our meal was. As a server, when I see that someone still has a plate full of food at the end of their meal, I ask if everything was ok, or if they need a box for the leftovers. And to top it all off, the coffee was WEAK. All in all we were not impressed, but I guess living in Portland may have turned us into "breakfast/brunch" snobs, ultimately all I want is fresh tasty food made from scratch by someone who actually likes to take the time to cook the food. Not by cutting corners for convenience sake. Will definitely not be returning to this place when we are in the Grove.
This place has a really "homey" feel to it. It's a family run joint and it made my college visit experience better. The regulars are friendly and even talked to us out of the blue. As for the food, the biscuits and gravy were good. I wish that I had tried the fresh berry crepes though. Maybe next time when I go back to Oregon in the fall!
Sweet Potato skillet rocks! This restaurant looks very funky, especially since its in a neighborhood, but the staff and food are amazing!

I got a 2 slice combo that came with a "big" drink. Both of my slices were older than I would have liked and the cheese slice I got was MUCH smaller then any slice I've ever had from schmizza which was very disappointing. The "big" drink was very small. This is the first time I ever went to this location for just slices, I've always ordered full pizzas which have been great. The girl that helped us was pretty rude the whole time she helped us and kept complaining that she couldn't hear us when we were ordering or asking questions. Maybe if the wasn't music blaring as loud as possible through the restaurant you could hear your customers. I don't mind music at all but if its so loud that you can't hear your customers just turn it down. I won't be going back to this location if I just want a slice.
I was most impressed at their tap beer selection, very local dark micro brews to an international weissen! Service was great and their crew made some great suggestions. The place was clean and stocked with the typically curious decor one expects at Schmizza. It was notable how much space there was in this particular Scmizza, great for children. Enjoyable experience! I'll be back.
The pizza is amazing. Definitely on the top list! This is some of the best pizza that I have ever had in my life, not to mention that the family that runs this place is very kind and welcoming!

Scottie’s Drive In

1702 Pacific Ave
Forest Grove, 97116
Reviews:
My first review would have only been one stars since I had called one evening to see what their hours were. A young man answered the phone who said "Scotties we're closed" and hung up the phone. I could definitely figure out that they are closed with that comment yet, it didn't help me understand when they are normally open/closed. I decided last night to give them a shot again, and happened to drive by and stop. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with a side of tater tots. The total cost was $7.90. I had to wait a while for the food to be cooked and delivered to me. That is fine since they were cooking to order, and I would much rather have that, then old food. I ate my food at home and it was not the best. The tatertots were cooked in old oil, could tell it just by the taste and look of them. Next the double bacon cheeseburger was okay, the burger was dry, and was like any old fashioned burger joint. I will be back to try their chicken, and ice cream.
I understand people think it has some sort of nostalgic quality but does that excuse poor service, a filthy kitchen and seating area on top of terrible quality food? The place smelled so strongly of old, well used grease and the teenagers behind the counter were all rude (like that popular cocky jock in HS you would have loved to beat the crap out of). We live in this town and know many people who say the same thing, it "was" once fun but now it's dirty and overpriced. Of course the ripe old drunk guy sitting inside when we dropped in for a simple ice cream (really how hard can that be?) added to the "overly lived in" charm. Two Hours later you'll be saying...pass the Pepto!
been coming here ever since I could remember. would always come here with my dad and get supers with fries. Its the only thing I have had on the menu. Good burgers and fries. yet to try their milkshakes but I will totally try it the next time I go there.

Worst customer service, EVER. The food is decent, but the sarcastic and snide comments from that snooty waiter ruined my meal. Just because I am a student on a budget does NOT mean I should be treated like trash. Will not return anytime soon.
I just had the chanterelle paparadelle special. The mushrooms were hand picked just this morning and served with an exquisite cream sauce. To die for.
Absolutely terrible! I came because I heard such good things about this place. When I walked in the place was packed but my party was seated fairly quickly. I later realized that almost all the tables had no food on them and most of the people looked bored while waiting for their food. The specials menu, a chalkboard on the far side of the room was too far and small to read and our waitress didn't seem to even know what the specials were or even what to recommend ordering. We ended up ordering the bruschetta appetizer which the kitchen ended running out of the ingredients that were stated in the menu. Then we waited an entire hour for our entrees to arrive, and our waitress had totally forgotten about us. She didn't come to refill our waters or even give us the complementary bread. We had to ask another waiter. And when we asked for another tiny basket of bread he said he would ask... Whatever that means. Our waitress came back after 45ish minutes and asked us if we wanted dessert, and we told her our main course hadn't even arrived. Without much of an apology she walked back to the kitchen to check our food. Or so I thought. She can back saying only 2 more minutes and that it was because it was such a busy night and I looked around the room which looked mostly empty. When the food finally arrived, my entire party was sorely disappointed. The food was cold, had a strange consistency, and overall unappetizing flavors. The Seafood Pasta had good flavor but the noodles were like packaged ramen noodles. The pork loin which was a special was dry and the sauce was sour and thick. I can't even remember the last dish we tried it was that memorable. And the icing on this terrible cake was the overpricing. I was not impressed. Not worth even half the price we paid. Fin.

My son and I love Mexican food, however when we go out as a family, we seldom indulge in this favorite of ours because my mom is not a fan. She has been out of town this week, so it's just my son and I. I placed an order to have it delivered and couldn't have been more pleased. When I placed the order, the gentleman on the phone was very kind and helpful not to mention completely professional. After he was finished taking my order he informed me that it would be arriving in 30 minutes. I kid you not, within 20 minutes they were knocking on my door. My food was just as hot and tasty as if I were sitting right there in the restaurant. Not many people (other than the standard pizza joints) deliver in this area and I think they should all take a cue from La Sierra. Kudos on delivering to me better than what I expect when it comes to take out food. I will definitely be calling you again.
Carnitas Burrito! (((insert Homer Simpson Drool Face here))) This thing was... - huge - flavorful - came with rice and beans (duh - gotta have it) - not spicy (I drenched mine in the their homemade salsa) - needed sour cream on the side - ask for it. Love the fact that they give you a lil dessert treat - free of charge. I'll definitely come here again.
The pork chunks int he chile verde were so overcooked they were like chucks of sawdust. Totally inedible! The flavors of everything else was actually quite good. The chips were fresh and hot, the chile rellano was cheesy and flavorful, the beef in my wife's burrito was cooked nice and tender. Even the refried beans were more flavorful than most Americanized Mexican restaurants. And despite the friendly service I'm still giving this place only two stars due to such an extreme oversight as to not be able to serve a passable classic Mexican pork dish.

Fantastic food. Perfect sized portions. Excellent, personable service. Worth the drive!!
My mom is in a care facility out west so we're on constant lookout for breakfast places to eat prior to visiting her. This was today's attempt. It wasn't fancy but it was clean. Think small town diner with locals. People serving us were nice. When Princess wasn't sure about ordering biscuits and gravy the sweet woman brought us gravy in a cup with a spoon for her to try. She noted it was homemade and we could get it just white without pork sausage as well. Princess liked it, with the sausage. I tasted it and it was surprisingly well seasoned and tasty. Unfortunately the "biscuits" were weird. Spongy squares baked in a casserole dish they reminded me of beer bread in texture. Too bad because that yummy gravy deserved better. My denver omelette and hash browns were fine, neither bad nor stupendous. Same for hubbys pancakes and scrambled eggs. Coffee was a bit watery but passable. I don't like their puffy blobs of margerine for toast and pancakes but prefer foil wrapped butter pats. They do have sugar in a pour cannister and cream in little pitchers. That's cool.Princess liked her chocolate milk and the bacon was ordered crispy and came that way. I don't know that I'd go out of my way to return but its an ok place to grab an egg and some toast.
Great wait staff, but, Ewww... I could make better food at home. And the biscuts and gravy: Naaaaasty.... And all this for $12. Not worth the money I paid. The positive feedback on this site must have been from freinds and family because this stranger thinks that this food sucks. The interior of the restaraunt needs an updated overhaul by a professional interior designer, it looks like a family shrine with tastless family photos everywhere. Restaurant impossible HELP THIS PLACE!!!!
