Normally I do not review Italian restaurants. The reason being I have owned one and was trained by the five star chef we imported from Italy. So even in San Francisco, I have been disappointed more often than not. So I took a leap of faith having lunch at La Pomodori Ristorante in Florence Oregon and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the 'Sweet Chile Pesce'... Pacific Snapper encrusted with panko breading, finished with a sweet chile bruschetta over linguini. The restaurant is small and intimate with a clean minimalist decor and no pretentious Italian art or the usual overdone attempts at trying to create a "little Italy." I ordered the salad instead of soup, which was european greens , tomatoes, red onions and a great raspberry vinaigrette. (I saved half for desert!) The snapper was better than I had hoped for as I had tried another recommended spot in Florence and their version was very disappointing. The flavor was excellent! The sweet & spicy chile did not overpower the fish and the breading was perfect. Large slivers of fresh shaved Parmesan with a hint of garlic and fused with encrusted panko breading...sweet chile bruschetta... made a great marriage. The linguine was done to my liking also (medium-well al dente) and at $11, I was pleased to make dinner reservations so I can bring our readers an in-depth review on their traditional Veal and Pasta dishes, and their Cioppino. So far, it looks like I have found a first class Italian Ristorante in Florence, Oregon. - See more at: deltanewsandreview.com/2…

La Pomodori is wonderful. Our favorite eatery in Florence. They haven't skipped a beat with the purchase in 2011 by the manager. Service is great. We had a marvelous gnocchi special and sirloin with risotto. Both done so fine. Had the green salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Make sure you request Gorgonzola for the salad - pay the extra $1.

I'm new to town and have been eating out every night for 8days and every spot is great but this place if you love Italian is spectacular. Not just great service but amazing fresh food and delicious wine selection, warm inviting, cozy atmosphere. I love this place so much it's a must if you love Italian.

We were very pleased with this restaurant, it certainly lived up to the yelp billing. Staff was very accommodating of our kids' requests even though they had no kids menu. All dishes were excellent, reasonably priced, and the environment was very nice.

This is a house converted to small Italian restaurant. Reservations required. Ok first of all I am a very picky Italian food eater. Don't like mass produced cheap junk. Gotta be good. Well I was really impressed. The ribeye was phenomenal. My wife had Italian sausage with penne and it was amazing. You could tell a lot of heart was put into making these dishes. Chocolate torte for desert was absolutely decadent. Highly recommended.

Can you say amazing? Small little place. Off the beaten path. Not part of the typical tourist fare. Just elegant atmosphere, low-key attentive service and delicious food. My hubby is not a pasta fan - not to worry, there are plenty of entrees that have nothing to do with pasta. He had the Halibut with risotto and it was delicious. I went for the Veal Marsala and it was to die for. Perfect combination of flavors, textures and colors. We've lived in Florence for a year and have tried any of the restaurants. This is our new favorites. Find your way to the post office - La Pomodori is right next door.

Really good, small Italian restaurant in a renovated old house. It's not in Old Town, but close enough. The owner/hostess works hard with the one server. We liked the blackened halibut. Nice garlic hit in the Caesar salad. My only issue is that we felt a bit rushed (check delivered to table while we were still working on dessert).

I absolutely love this restaurant. I live in Florence and this is where we go for special occasions. I love the fresh ingredients and quality and flavor. I haven't tried anything I didn't like. I highly recommend this place if your are visiting or live here. It's a small restaurant with a nice ambience. The homemade mango citrus salad dressing is so refreshing.

We had a terrific meal here and felt like it was VERY reasonably priced. Service from Sharon was very kind and attentive. Caesar salad delicious-lightly dressed.Meatballs were absolutely off the charts-dynamite tomato sauce. Ossobuco good. Chocolate torte was ridiculous!! One of the best desserts we've had in a long time. we shared it and were very happy. This is a great Florence restaurant!

Yikes. Grumpy waiter (I'm told she was the owner ?!) and really bland food. I saw more iceberg lettuce on the table today than I've seen in a long time. The panini sandwich I ordered was mediocre at best. The bread resembled cardboard in both look and taste, and the rest was the kind of thing I would make a home... poorly, I might add. You're at the coast. Go get some seafood.

Excellent dinner! The seafood pomodori was fresh and so tasty and so was the classic ravioli dish my husband ordered. Try the bruschetta for appetizers and finish off with the table side flambé of bananas foster. Great local destination for special occasions! Intimate and personal yet just enough fancy to make you want to come back. We sure will!

Oh. My. Goodness! I want to live in Florence, Oregon just so I can be near Pomodori!! Full disclosure: I have only eaten here once, and it was in May 2007. Hubby and I moved to Washington in May 2007, we drove up the coast (beautiful, a must do before you die!!) We stopped for the night in Florence. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in town (our favorite inexpensive hotel chain). The receptionist gave us a coupon to Pomodori. I love Italian food, so we went. The photos on Yelp are perfect. It is a cute house, in a residential neighborhood that has been converted into a restaurant. I don't remember exactly what we had, I think I had ravioli and Hubby had something with seafood in it. I also had this delicious corn chowder-but-not-really-chowder dish. It was soooo good! We had something for dessert, because our coupon was for a free dessert. I know, this review may not be entirely helpful because I cannot remember specifics. BUT, what I do remember is that Hubby and I raved about the place the rest of the night and the rest of the way to Washington. Every time we talk about going down to Oregon for a quick trip, we say that we want to go back to Pomodori. I found their website, and it looks like they have opened a new location since we were there! Oh man, writing this review reminds me of the wonderful experience we had here. I want to go back now! Hubby and I might just have to drive down to Oregon tomorrow! :p

This restaurant was extremely delicious and the quaintness of such a small eating area really adds ambiance to the whole experience. I was in a party of four, we started with the best bruschetta I have ever had! I ordered the bacon wrapped filet mignon which was cooked perfect and the memory of the spices in the rice pilaf are making my mouth water right now. My boyfriend and his friend had the sausage linguini which they loved, and his friend's girlfriend had a seafood dish with mussels, clams, shrimp and maybe something else in a lovely red sauce. I truly loved this place, I left feeling satisfied and not overly full, they had delicious wine. La Pomodori is a great great experience and the servers constantly check on you and are warm and approachable as well. It's just a bit pricy but you get what you pay for, and everything here including the service is worth more than every penny. Enjoy!

We had a wonderful lunch in Pomodori last week. Early spring chill and raining made us crave soup. We had an amazing Tuscan Tomato soup with a touch of cream and italian spices. I had the stuffed chicken with pine nuts chevre and spinach which was sublte, perfectly cooked . Not the usual over cooked chicken rolled around too much filling. My friend had a delicious italian salad . The restaurant is in a house on a corner. It is a cozy, romantic spot with deep pumpkin colored walls . The day we were there the resturant was filled with women having lunch. clubby and fun. Our wait person was friendly and efficient. We will go back. The cuisine is northern Italian-ish

This place used to have great food, but the cook moved to Medford to start up another restaurant, and now its just overpriced, bad, Italian food.

The food may be good, but the staff is horribly unfriendly. They don't seem interested in attracting or retaining customers, and with so many other great places in town, why bother? Head down to Bay St. and find a friendly place.

I was treated to dinner at Pomodori this summer by the restaurant's original owners/operators. Even though ownership had changed, the food was excellent. I had several very traditional Italian courses and found everything immensely satisfying. The chicken picatta, for instance, was far more exciting and delicious than its commonality would suggest. I didn't notice anything exotic on the wine list, but every bottle was a solid choice and seemed to be priced reasonably. The atmosphere was bright but cozy, and consequently I suspect people come here to enjoy food rather than to romance a first date. In any event, I had a fantastic time and ate so much food that I could hardly breathe or sit upright after dinner. If you're ever in the beautiful Florence area, make sure to have a meal at this great little restaurant.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
