Wow this place gets tore up. It's all about expectations, this place is not a good restaurant and the service tends to be a bit standoffish, but if your expectation is to enjoy a low maintenance, quality beer, then this is the place for you. I've been here multiple time and their beer is tasty and really hits the spot after long days of playing outdoors.

No locals here, why? Because Fearless is notorious for bad food, bad service, and treating their staff poorly, the permanent "help wanted" sign in the window should be your first clue. Owners won't let the sound be turned up on the TV, charging out the nose for marginal food. If you want good beer, sure they have it. Sadly, that's all that keeps them going.

We went to Fearless for beer and lunch today--first time in Estacada. We thought in general the food was better than the beer. We both love IPAs, and both thought their IPA was OK, but had a very floral aftertaste that I just did not like. Since we weren't enjoying the IPA that much, we decided to go for a 4 glass taster, and tried the porter, Scottish ale, red ale and the cream ale. I think my favorite was the Scottish ale which seemed the most balanced. We both agreed we probably won't be back for the beer. The food was pretty good though. I had the Philly cheesesteak, and James had the catfish sandwich. We shared the cheese fries. Anything with melted cheese on it is great in my book! We both thought our sandwiches were pretty good. And the service was very good. We had two attentive waitresses helping us, and they were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere and decor of the brew pub is very nice too. If we liked the beer better, I would have given it higher stars! Just not our cup of ....beer.

I don't really love beer (I know I know) but it's the truth. And, that way, when I say what I'm going to say about Fearless's Cream Ale, it'll make all the more difference. We were hungry for desert after a hike along the Clackamas River. I thought we'd pop into the Fearless Brewing Co. to see what kind of sugary treat they might have, but fate had something else in mind. Their Cream Ale was what was suggested in lieu of a sugary treat, and I was mighty glad. My partner in crime (who does like beer) got their IPA and was very impressed. He reviewed it as being just full and hoppy enough. My take on the Cream Ale is that it was just what you'd look for in a beer, light, but full, a little sweet, but clean. I'm still new in this genre of description, but suffice it to say that I started with a half pint and ended up leaving with a growler. In addition, we got a fantastic veggie burger with real sauces and great veggies, and a fresh salad. Plus onion rings which hit the spot. The other cool thing about this spot was out of the about 8 other people at the bar we met 4 other cool couples who were friendly and interesting and made our night even more fun. I'd pretty much say that that's the ideal experience you could ask for in a Brewery. So big up to Fearless for really keeping it real!

I recently stopped into Fearless after a 16 mile backpacking trip. I have been here a few times before, and have always been underwhelmed by the experience. However, this is one of the few places to get a good beer between miles of backcountry and Portland, so it's a good place to stop. My hiking partner and I were ravenous, and decided we'd give the joint another go. Once again, I ended up leaving and swearing I won't likely return ever again. The beer is actually really good, however they have two different price points and the beers I like to drink are more expensive and not included in the happy hour menu. We both ordered burgers. It's $2.00 additional to get fries or another side, which I find really annoying. So now I'm paying $11 plus dollars for a mediocre burger and fries? Great. The service here is lackadaisical at best. Serve yourself water, which is fine, but the attitude delivered with the message was quite unnecessary. It was early dinner time, and the place was empty. The waitress couldn't even remember which of us ordered what, and did not come back to check on us and I had to go to the counter to get our bill and pay the tab. Why bother having table service if you're not going to do it well? Finally, the thing that really gets to me about this place is the negative signage everywhere telling you what not to do. "Don't touch this," "Don't even try to use a card for under $5," and on the front door, "Restrooms are for customers only. You may only use the restroom AFTER you have placed your order." WTF? If I'm a paying customer why the hell does it matter if I use the bathroom before or after I put in over $50 in food and drink orders? I know this is right off the Clack and the backcountry, and they probably get a lot of drunk and dirty riff raff in here, but come on! That sign being the first thing I see makes me want to turn around and find somewhere else to spend my money. After spending two days in the back country, usually any hot meal tastes fantastic. Upon leaving I realized that I didn't remotely enjoy the taste of my burger and fries. Unfortunately I was left with gut rot and wished our stomachs could have held out until we got back to PDX.

The beer was really good --- we shared a pitcher of Quaff session IPA and it hit the spot after biking out from Portland on our way up the Clackamas. I had the brat and saurkraut which was reasonably priced, my friends had burgers. Food was ok and service was ok, but we were also the only customers in there. I was also able to buy a can to go, which was nice once we got up to the cabin.

Great beer, fun servers. OK food, the burger is served with what appeared to be velveeta but was still tasty. My girl ordered a $10 chicken salad and it was literally a pile of iceberg with some shredded cheese and a few pieces of chicken breast. I did not like that! Overall I'm a fan because the beer is bomb and it hits the spot. Mikey is hilarious.

We went there yesterday after a cold Clackamas river trip. The cream ale was on special for $1.50 a pint. It was a great beer. I'm sick of craft and micro-brewers simply competing to make the hoppiest beer. The Cream Ale was perfect. We had a great cheese steak sandwich, and my wife had hungarian mushroom soup that was as good as you could get anywhere. Wait staff were friendly and accommodating, even when we asked for 7 separate checks. We went home with a growler of their peach cream ale.

If you want good service don't go here. The staff was more interested in conversation with one another than taking our order. As far as the beer and food....lackluster. high prices for poor service.

I love this place! The food is always fresh and its locally owned and ran by some great people. I love the fact you can talk to the brewer Ken about the different beers. The Scottish Ale is my favorite. Food = Great Service = Fantastic Beer = Wonderful Its worth the drive just for the beer, but stay for the food!

Wow. Just wow. I have never in my life had worse service than at this place. Don't waste your time, unless you literally want to waste you time.... Like sitting down at the bar and being completely ignored for a ridiculous amount of time, even though you are literally sitting directly in front of the staff, like they have to actively go out of their way to ignore you. Then waiting a full hour for a "corn and black bean salsa" appetizer; which, I will remind everyone, is 1) some tortilla chips, and 2) canned beans, canned corn, and shitty salad dressing. Freaking ridiculous this place is. I had to buy a book on my Kindle because I had reached the end of the internet waiting for this crap. This place does not deserve to exist. Literally one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to in my life.

I'd love to give this place at least a 4 star review, but..... Great service. Friendly. Great beer. Food was okay. (Not a fan of American cheese when asked for cheddar. And please get better buns. Cheapy white buns are nooo good.) I'll be back for the beer only.

  • Alishia L.

I love the beer. I have for years but this is the second time we've been here lately and not felt welcome. The waitress made us feel like she didn't trust our IDs and brought us our checks halfway through our first beer. We had to ask for more rather than be offered. Then once again our checks were slapped on the table. The owner Ken did stop by and was friendly. The staff and customers (sorry were not local) need a serious attitude adjustment. I guess we will stick to buying our fearless in the store.

Biker Friendly Brews their own award winning beers, and they are worth it! Beer only, bu don't let that stop you. Casual environment for families and singles. Bar and booth. Casual food is good and fast.

Let me pile on with another negative review. After volunteering for five hours a the Estacda summer festival, right outside Fearless brewery, we entered & sat at the bar to get beer and maybe some food. Not so fast. We sat down. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands as I had paint on my hands, etc. from the volunteer activity. I wanted to wash my hands before I got any paint on the bar, stool, etc. believe this was the beginning of the end of our Fearless experience. The owner refused to serve us. Other customers walked in after us - one of them pointed out to the owner that we were there before him - and she waited on him anyway. And the other customers who came in after us. The owner instructed a member the wait staff to get our order - finally! And then SHE graced us with her presence, brought our change, slammed it on the bar and said "here you go." And of course no "thank-you" or "is everything good?" Jeez lady - maybe you should get out of service business and get a desk job where you don't have to deal with the public. Husband reports the beer was bad - little flavor in his IPA - so not going there was no loss to us. It might be a loss to her, as the kayak tours we lead each week at Estacada lake - just down the hill from Fearless Brewery - give us plenty of opportunity to interact with customers looking for a local place to taste beer and dine. We wiil ensure our recommendations DON'T include fearless. Have no fear!

We try to get to Fearless a couple times each month. The beer is great and the food is good. The Loki Red, the Strong Scotch and the IPA are fantastic. The servers are all personable and accommodating.

We had good food here and think the beers are solid. I had the veggie wrap which was tasty, the fries were very good. It's great that there is a brewery with good food and beer in Estacada. The atmosphere is nice and we had a good server.

So after a quick motorcycle ride out to Ripplebrook Ranger station my wife caught a glimpse of the Fearless Brewery sign on the way back to town. After a few punches to my ribs to get my attention we found the place right off the highway and stopped in. The interior looked very comfortable and inviting. You can sit at the bar or at a table or even a comfy highback chair. Anna came over right away and welcomed us. I don't drink alcohol when on the bike but my wife was eager to try the sampler. Anna brought out the samples in 4 generously sized glasses. I'm guessing 5 to 6 oz. One included a Peach Cream Ale. Ok my wife forced me to taste the Cream Ale and it was delicious. I did a taste of their IPA and was impressed as well. We took home 4 cans of their IPA amd Loki Red Ale. Growlers are available as well. Anna was great and told my wife that they have LADIES NIGHTS on Wednesdays and all pints are 25 CENTS. We will be back. CHEERS!

This was my third time here in as many years and I have watched service and food quality drop. They have a self serve water Gott box but I forgot. So when I asked the waitress for water she said, "it's over there," and she pointed. WTF, just get me some damn water.......then tell me about your weird water station custom. Anyway.....not even a COSTO quality frozen hamburger or chicken breast sandwiches and I am not sure of the cheese in the cheese tater tots. Oh, most of the service staff there was rude except for a young Asian girl.

A little confused by all the negative reviews, but I guess it depends on context and what you are comparing it to. My fiance and I stopped in here after 5 hours of hiking in the Molalla wilderness (translation: starving and thirsty) and after previously stopping at a "brewpub" down the road in Sandy that ended up having no food and possibly poisonous beer (tasted like rubbing alcohol) so after that experience Fearless was awesome. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and had barely sat down when the waitress was over to take a drink order. My fiance had a question about the Loki Red and they brought her a free taste and she liked it and ordered a full pint. I got the full taster tray to try everything. The Loki Red was a little hoppy from what I was expecting but a classic NW Red, the Scottish ale was good as always (i had had it before). The Quaff ISA, Porter and Cream Ale were all pretty good, the Peaches and Cream Ale blew me away and although I normally don't do IPAs that much I think the Mjolnir IPA was actually my favorite. I ordered the catfish and fries, my fiance ordered the BLT with fries. The food came out super quick and the fish and fries were fresh and rocket hot. The better half didn't really care for the thin shoestring fries but I liked them. Personal preference. Not in this area very often but would certainly plan on coming back.

Well, what can I say? The owner came over and helped us with our beer order, we tried the sampler so we can try all of the beers they had available. Great beers. We ordered lunch, bacon and blue cheese burger, catfish sandwich with cheese, hot French fries. The food was cooked just right, hot juicy and fresh. The fellow cooking did a great job. The place was clean, prices were good, cold beer & great food. The problem, service was just not at the level you would expect from a place like this. Fearless Brewing Company was recommended by someone we met at Wade House antiques during the vintage flea market. We were told that they were not open, even though the door was unlocked. We waited out side on a bench, looking at Yelp to see what the rest of you said about this place, we thought maybe we should give them a chance even though it was not rated very good. We would buy their beer if we see it for sale some where else, just will not come back. There are too many other choices to choose from, When they did open no greeting, we finally went in, no greeting nothing, after the waitress was done talking to another waitress, she said sit where ever you like. We waited for a while and if the owner had not come by we were about to leave. There only a couple of other people in the dining room, the rest of the meal went the same way, little or no interaction, we even had to wave her down to ask for another round of beers. Tidbit of information for the server- Your tip is based on a percentage of the bill, if you ask all of your customers " would you like anything else" or " can I get you another one of those" you tip gets bigger. The restaurant makes more money, you make more money and the customer a better experience when you give good service.

Worst burger I've had in long time. Service sucks and the attitudes of the staff is horrible, for a small town place you'd think they would want to retain customers. Plenty of goods eats in town that will treat you without attitude. WONT BE GOING BACK

    (1)
  • Aubrey B.

This place is a joke. Visitors to Estacada beware. Do not waste your time or money here. You will be treated poorly and receive forgettable food. The beer is good but it doesn't make up for the shortcomings. The owners obviously haven't been to a successful small town pub. They should go to Hood River and visit their many brewpubs and see how they treat customers, locals and visitors. It's unfortunate that poor management can sink a potential gold mine. As a local I wish I could support and recommend fearless but I can't.

  • Tara M.

I wouldn't recommend this place, the beer is just mediocre at best and service was really rude. $9.25 veggie burger with NO sides, none of the burgers or sandwiches come with fries or chips unless you pay extra FYI. Burger was decent but nothing special. The best thing about this place was the courteous bus person. There are too many awesome breweries around, don't bother wasting your time here. The SummerFest in Estacada was cool though.

Went here yesterday after a long but fun day rafting on the Clackamas river. We were hoping for some good bar food, good beer, and an inviting atmosphere. The experience at Fearless Brewing Company was so bad it was actually funny. Now I wasn't aware that Estacada had a big problem with people roaming the streets looking for a bathroom, but the owner apparently believes this is the case. If you've been in the car holding your bladder for a while, be prepared to hold it some more, because, as the inviting sign on the front door states, "restrooms are for customers who have placed an order." Oh yeah, and they want to charge you $10.00 for using the toilet without ordering first. WTF. You can guess where this is going. The service is terrible, and the owner is a crabby woman with a sign-making fetish. After a good 20 minutes, someone finally came to our table to tell us that someone ELSE would come over to our table to take our order soon. Keep in mind that this place was not what anyone would call busy, what with some guys sitting at the bar and two other tables occupied by customers. Eventually, someone came over to take our order. I ordered the cheeseburger, and my husband ordered the wrap and asked for extra sour crew. Our friend chose the bratwurst that comes with pretzels, and my sister got a quesadilla. The food is where things really got bad. My "Cheese" burger was the equivalent of a McDonald"s hamburger- the bun was the kind of soft, cheap bun that immediately flattens into a smashed mess when you pick it up to take a bite. The so-called "cheese" that I paid a dollar to add to my burger, was a cheese-like substance commonly known as a kraft singles. The meat was very "well done" which I guess was good because it is probably the cheapest pre-formed hamburger product that any restaurant could buy, so I should probably thank them for at least keeping me from acquiring e-coli at their establishment. My husband had asked for extra sour cream with his wrap. Wait for it.... He received a condiment cup with about a teaspoon of sour cream in it, while my sister's cup was completely full of sour cream. Whoever was doling out the sour cream was being passive-agressive toward people who ask for extra, or something. Not surprisingly, the had the nerve to charge us for the 2 sour creams he used, even though one had barely anything in it. I know that restaurants have to make money, but this place seems to be trying to make a buck by serving the cheapest crap possible. We didn't eat more than three of our "cheddar tots" because they were so god-awful. This is a bar, and I know bar food isn't gourmet, but it really seems like they went to Winco foods and bought the biggest, cheapest, bags of frozen potato-like substance and dumped them into a pan and fried the shit out of them. I could go on about the rest of our meal, but I think you get the picture. If you choose to spend your money here, you might want to think of it as your contribution to the town of Estacada. At least with McDonald's, you know what you're getting, and the staff will at least pretend to be friendly- oh, and you can use their restroom without being shamed first.

I dig this place. Good beer, tasty pub food. A great little pit stop on your way camping in the woods in summer time.

  • Matthew T.

While their beers may be a good local offering I was less than impressed with their burger. It was an overcooked cardboard thin patty of little to no flavor. I feel like I could have had a better offering at McDonald's for half the price.

I stopped here after a long hike and fell in love with the place. I will be coming here every time I make it out to the Clackamas River area / Estacada. I for one think that the Fearless Scottish Ale is one of the best beers I've ever had in my life. And, having been to Scotland and England and missing their beers like I do, the Scottish Ale is just as good is not better than any beer I had over there, tastewise. Also, I ordered both a cheeseburger and a catfish sandwich from them and though both were outstanding. Having been raised right by the Mississippi I can tell you that it was damn good catfish (and catfish is hard to find this far west). I personally think this place deserves 5 stars. Excellent, affordable food. Excellent, affordable beer, and all in a quiet place that lets you escape the city for a while.

  • LJ B.

It is really too bad that this place is so pathetic. The food is mediocre at best (basic greasy burgers) and, while the beer is good, don't try to have your own growler filled, because the owner can't be bothered to do a little math. One a recent visit, we stopped for lunch and to have our growlers filled; the owner could not figure out how to charge for 2 40oz growler fills (containers that are labeled to that effect) and refused to try to figure it out. She did offer to charge us for 2 64oz growler fills, which we declined. I guess she does not want to sell her beer that badly.

I live in Vancouver, WA. It takes me 45 minutes to drive to Estacada, OR. I say that to stress how much I LOVE Fearless Brewing. Not only are their beers delicious, but their staff and owners are a blast. I could sit and talk beer and drag racing with Ken for days. And that's the great perk about this place. Unlike the snobby breweries popping up all over Portland (you know the ones where some 30-somethings buy a spot, renovate it with daddy's money and then act like it's some underground joint)... at Fearless you're pretty likely to meet Ken or his wife Bennett. They're happy to answer questions and, if it's not too busy, you might find yourself on a one-on-one tour of the brewery tasting hops and malts used in the beverages you just enjoyed. I drive out to Estacada once every 3 months for their seasonal release parties. Live music and the chance to be the first of my friends to try a beer that won't hit the market for a few more weeks - I love it. Oh! And bring your kids!

I came for the beer, not for the customer service, food or to use the bathroom. Got a sample of the peach cream and did not even think of trying anything else. It was that good. Wish I had one right now. Hubby got their IPA, both of us hop heads really liked it. The young woman who waited on us was super friendly and even chuckled at my husband's lame jokes.

My partner and I stopped at Fearless Brewing twice in one weekend this summer, book-ending a camping trip that included an 8-mile hike on the Clackamas River Trail. We were starved and in good spirits both visits. The first visit, we split two meals - the southwestern chicken wrap and the 1/4 lb bacon cheeseburger. We added soup sides - potato bacon and chili. We loved the wrap and left the soup. The chili was okay, but the entrees had left us stuffed and so we left it untouched. The potato bacon soup was curdled and had sat on the stove too long to be edible. We liked the burger so much that we came back for another go on Sunday. Now, this is not a gourmet burger, people. I love gourmet burgers, but I also love a good, homestyle burger. This burger consists of a butter-toasted whitebread bun slathered in burger sauce, cradling a 1/4 lb patty, topped with American cheese, tomato, onion, iceberg lettuce. We added bacon because BACON! Happily, it was thick cut and perfectly crunchy-cooked. This is the burger my mom made for dinner while my sisters and I watched the Brady Bunch and debated whether Greg or Bobby was cuter (Sorry, Peter). This burger will take you back to your childhood. Mmmm! We didn't try the beer this visit, but we will next time and I'll update. The choices looked good! One note on the vibe: The tone on all the cautionary signs posted left something to be desired: "We don't take checks. Please don't ask." and "Smile you're on the security camera." and other stern food-allergy warnings. I know these can slowly accumulate over time, but as a first-time visitor I got the distinct feeling that the owners/staff expect you to annoy them or steal from them. Overall, good experiences- friendly staff and we'll be back for the burger!

Let's put on our Estacada- colored glasses, shall we? Ok. There's no truffle popcorn on the menu, but for a small-town brewery, it was quite good. We had a sampler consisting of the Loki Red (not as malty as some, quite tasty), the IPA (a bit rough, but good), the cream ale (very wheaty), and the Scottish ale (possibly the only one I've ever really liked). The black bean and salsa wrap was decent, as were the fries and catfish. I'd avoid the cheddar tots though: they're freezer food dropped in the deep fryer. Service was very pleasant and prompt. I'd go back if I was in the area!

I don't know how I became "The Duke" of this place because I only checked in two times during the course of this year's Slurp & Burp Homebrew Competition. I guess there aren't a lot of Yelpers coming out this way. Anyway, I'm afraid I have to concur with the sentiments of some of the other reviews: the food is sub-par and the beers are a bit inconsistent. I did enjoy the Porter, though. And Mjolnir IPA is good, despite being a bit rough around the edges. Ken and his wife are super-nice, though. And their head waitress (Jessica?) is a champ. I'm glad to have finally tried this place, but I'm also glad that I didn't drive all the way out to Estacada just to go to this brewpub because if that had been the case, I would have been highly disappointed.

The staff and service are extremely rude. We bought a keg of the Clackamas River ale. My wife picked it up, and they told her that it didn't need to be returned for 90 days. We have has the keg for about a week, and there was about 1/4 of the keg remaining. I overheard her in a heated phone call from them this morning, claiming she was late in returning the tap. This was not explained to her, and was clearly a misunderstanding. I have never been there before, drove all the way out to Estacada, had a hard time finding them as they dont have a sign, and the old woman was very rude. She proceeded to give me a Tongue Lashing for being 3 days late, would not help bring the partially full keg in. She threatened to charge $15 more dollars and told me I was lucky. I will never go there again, or purchase their beer. In this town, you don't have to go that far to get superior brew and service !

I would have given this 1 star for the food and service, but I really did enjoy the beer. The server had much more important things to do than to serve his customers. He spent quite a bit of time talking to a group of people outside and ignoring his tables inside. After waiting about 30 minutes for our check we go up to the front to pay and he tells us "Sorry about that, I just had to set up my next tattoo". I'd say this place really isn't worth your time.

Beer was great. I had an IPA and their reward-winning red ale. Burger bun great, burger itself ok. I wish I had read that "Ken's special sauce" was slathered on the burger because I'm not really a fan of mayonnaise on burgers. We were sitting in lounge chairs with the sun reflecting off a car windshield. So my wife got up to half close the vertical blinds. A dark-haired waitress immediately appeared and said, "Our owner doesn't allow anyone to touch the blinds, not even the employees" instead of something like, "I'm sorry may I try and block the 5 pm sun for you.?" So we moved to a booth. The burger came delivered by one waitress but I had to order my second beer from another waitress; a little odd. Then the dark-haired waitress comes back, puts the check on the table (it's 5 pm, one other booth is occupied, they're not real busy) and she doesn't first ask if we want another beer or dessert; again a little odd!! She brings my credit card back and the receipt to sign and mumbles something like, " your signature has to be verified" and walks away with no explanation. Then some pleasant woman comes over to look at my credit card and verify my signature. "I'm sorry but our owner asks that we verify each signature on a credit card." I don't recall ever having a signature "verified" at a restaurant for a $20 check! My wife and I are in our early 60's and really don't look like we would skip out on a check. So instead of buying a growler and several 4-pack cans of their tasty beer we left. Ken should keep brewing quality beer. Bennett should find another line of work that doesn't involve being courteous to customers.

One big mess! Me and my boyfriend were coming back from Bagby Hot Springs about 40 miles from Estacada (Pop. just over 2,500) and we were Hungry gurlz! Food was on our mind so much that it kept coming up in conversation; "Mmm burger this, "Mmm burger that." We said the word food so much it began to slur out of our mouths and food quickly became foon. We drove through this town's somewhat charming little downtown and decided this looked like a place that would have a good bacon burger, except not. Everything on this burger seemed frozen, store bought and it tasted as such too. The patty was a frozen store bought piece of meat and the fries (which were extra btw) seemed to be poured out of a bag and over fried for that "crisp" result. The burger was over sauced with their "secret sauce" that the bun kept sliding off. My boyfriend thought maybe they should have toasted the bun vs simply warming it to avoid some of the sliding. Honestly though, there was just too much of that mayo-y sauce. I would recommend getting their "secret sauce" on the side. On a good note, they had some fun board games we could play while we waited for our food and their pepper bacon was good. Didn't try the beer.

The best thing about the place is the quantity of beer you get in a taster. Unfortunately the quality of the beer and especially the food was lacking. As a Fearless Scottish Ale fan, I was disappointed. Oh, and don't get the 'fondue' definitely a joke and rip off!

This place leaves much to be desired. It's a shame because the beer is pretty good, and we love beer. The food is not. We actually live in lovely Estacada town so we go here about once every six months hoping it will get better. The place is cold and unfriendly. If we could ever even get a small smile out of the owner lady who is often behind the bar, we would be more prone to stop in for a beer from time to time. But we get nothing and will continue to NOT frequent this place. Really too bad.

Maybe it's because Portland has spoiled me but I was not impressed. Our server was friendly and the space was clean but beyond that.... The vegetables in my salad had gone off (we aren't talking mushy in a spot or two, actual fungal growth people), the tots were bland and the beer was ok. If it was offered to me I would drink their Scottish ale again but I wouldn't go out of my way. So two stars for our cool server and maybe the chef was having an off day, there aren't a lot of options in Estacada so if I find myself in the area I may just give them another chance.

I had the Loki Red Ale and it tasted like a red ale should. The burger was generic...but it was well prepared and not too greasy. And the price was good...as were the fries. They costed extra...but when you add it up the price is no different than a McMenamin's.

I rolled in here after a 20 mile backpacking trip famished. You know how it goes when you are that hungry, anything decent tasting is amazing. How did I walk out of this place $25 dollars later and say to myself, "that sure was some awful tasting food"? I had a turkey sandwich with a 1/8" slice of turkey on it, and about two pounds of iceburg lettuce. Gal had a cheese burger which was almost good. I love fearless Scottish ale, but their IPA was severely wanting of flavor and character. WTF?

I thought to write this review after making a comment elsewhere involving the term "meh". I'm going to stay away from a beer review here, which in itself says that I haven't been blown away by it. But we stopped by Fearless today for some grub after working up an appetite on the Clack. It was colder out than anticipated for a 95 deg July forecast, and it was cold inside as well, which didn't help our wet asses. We are a pretty friendly bunch but the waitstaff (consisting of one at the counter, probably the same from Dan B's review, and the kitchen staff) was short and surly. Unfriendly, I'd say. This might be a minor gripe but it peeved me a bit. Two of us didn't have beer (oddly, I was one). I asked for water. She scowled and told me it was self-serve. I don't mind grabbing my own water, but you're more restaurant than bar, and it's totally quiet inside. Hook me up with the first one like I was a paying customer, and I'll take it from there. On the other hand, the burger was terrible. There was this massive bun surrounding this puck of a burger that McMenamin's would be embarrassed by. As I started eating it, several bites (deep) into bun, wondering if I'd hit meat yet and just hadn't realized it. I kept checking it visually to see if I was missing something. When I got there, it was so slathered in secret sauce the nothing changed but the texture. The other burger-eaters at the table ended their meals with large hunks of bun leftover. They didn't take it home. The cheddar tots were probably the highlight of the meal. Not great, but fun. Pretty small serving unfortunately, and some at the table felt that ranch or similar would've made a nice accompaniment. The fries were far better than the onion rings, so save you $1.50. On cost, it's not outrageous for what you see on the menu, but it would be more reasonable if fries weren't $2 extra, rings $3.50. And if the burger wasn't so lamentable.

I stop here often on the way to the river. The beer really is superb, and some creations are quite unique. Obviously, the famous Scottish Ale is excellent. Personally, I really like the Peach Cream Ale which is remarkably peachy without being too sweet. The seasonal Malbec will surprise you... you'll end up ordering 2. The food is average and the service is fine... nothing special here.. but this is a brewery first, not a restaurant chain, and the unique and delicious beer and good natured staff make it a must stop for anyone passing through Estacada. Oh! You have to try their beer sampler! You get 6 full glasses (not shot glasses) of beer for under $6.50. It's a bargain.

Truly decent cheese steak and $2.50 pints of Cream Ale. We also sampled the Mai Bock which was respectable and made the drive worthwhile.
