It's set in a cute town in a very old building. My house made pasta was excellent and had an incredible smoky flavor that could only come from good smoked meat. I would make the drive to eat here again.

My meal was 15 minutes late from my companions which there was 7. No exaggeration. The explanation was "we are working on it" When the meal was delivered, all my companions were finished. When the bill came, no offer or apology for ruining he dining experience. So we asked what they would do to compensate, they offered only 10% on a $34 entree. Not good customer service. It overshadowed the meal of short ribs which was not really worth $34. Customer service and appreciation should be foremost in keeping your customers coming back.

I try to make it here once a week for a beer and a steak. I think about coming back all week. Very good service. Attentive waitress and chef! Quality beer and menu that is on rotation. I'm stuck on the diablo rojo right now. Easy going environment.

Rarely have my wife and I taken my parents to dinner and have them rave about each and every dish. My dad is quite the chef and to say he has high standards is an understatement. Yet when we ate here, every bite was spot on. Amazing meals from scratch every time and reasonable prices to boot. You will not be disappointed.

Definitely worth the drive from the Tri Cities! My wife and I love this place. The food is always fresh, we love the rotating menu. I highly recommend giving this place a try as I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Great food and drinks. Only negative is that its in echo and not somewhere closer. Rotating menu is great and they serve local beers on tap.

Great food! Fun Atmosphere. Great to get out of Hermiston without driving too far. We had the trout appetizer, and it was delicious! We don't usually like trout, but our waitress talked us into it and I'm so glad she did. I love supporting the locals!

Echo may be small, but this restaurant stands up to any of its peers in nearby Portland. All the best ingredients, delicious house-smoked meats, and excellent cooking make this worth a stop if you're anywhere nearby.

We headed down to Echo on Friday to celebrate a birthday. Service was immediate and attentive. I had seen reviews of the pork online, so I ordered it instead of my normal steak. Absolutely outstanding, juicy, delicious, cooked perfectly. The other entree we ordered was a Pasta Bowl. It was excellent as well, homemade noodles and fresh ingredients. Terminal Gravity fresh hopped beer on tap that night, further awesomeness! There were several other local beer selections were on the menu too. My wife ordered a cocktail, that was very good too. Friendly service and just about the best meal I've had in a long time. We'll be back soon!

If you're looking for a very unique atmosphere with great food, eclectic drinks and friendly service, then definitely go HERE! It's a little gem of an upscale pub, set in Echo, which is just a neat little historic town. Worth the drive from pretty much anywhere! A perfect setting for a first date, regular night out or even just a quick drink to wind down after work. My personal faves are: oh EVERYTHING!

Went to this restaurant on a Thursday night. It was excellent. Chad was our server and he treated us very well. The smoked trout -- smoked on the premises -- was delicious and served as an appetizer and an entrée. Ate the ribeye which was cooked exactly the way I wanted. Being able to drink Sno Road Winery -- an Echo winery -- was a real treat. We had a great time and plan to go again. It was spendy -- the ribeye wss $30 -- but well worth the price. The appetizer of smoked trout was served with pepper crackers, green apple slices and white cheddar. Yum! The entrées were served with purple, red and Yukon gold fingerling potatoes and sautéed Brussels sprouts and turnips. Excellent meal and fun atmosphere.

I simply can't get enough duck gnocchi! Wheat and Barley have yet to disappoint us with a meal and we couldn't be happier to help support such an incredible group of people. Everything they make is worth the short drive from Hermiston.

So the new owner contacted me and asked me to try the restaurant again in hopes that I might have a better experience and change my review. Although it would've been tough to have a worse experience, I will say that I have changed my mind. Our service was good. It took quite a while to get our food but the servers were very attentive to our needs and we felt welcomed. You need to know that this is a "fancy" place with fancy prices and a small menu. It does have a homey, comfortable feel though. I would suggest to the owner to put a light over your beer chalk board so that people can read it and do something about the ventilation. It got really smokey in there. Also, maybe add a pasta to the menu so the kids can have something to eat under $23. My steak was good but for $26 it should be great (more seasoning) and come with a salad. It says a lot when an owner asks you to come back. It shows that they care about the customer's experience and feedback. I deliberately didn't tell them when I'd be back. We were presently surprised.

We couldn't believe our luck when we stumbled upon this place. Great selection of craft beers, interesting menu with delicious food and quick, friendly service. If you're in echo, check out the mountain biking trails, then refuel here.

I love this place. It has elegant food with a easy going and friendly environment . Me and my husband had the steak. I normally don't like steak but it was fantastic. The portions are very generous. The staff treat you like family and I love the decor so much I wish that they would do my house. This place completes echo :) I'll be going there again soon!!

New in town (Echo) after relocating for a job, I was delighted by my good fortune to be living close to this excellent restaurant with amazing wait staff and a cool vibe. The first night I came in, instead of looking at the menu, I asked them to surprise me and boy did they! Steaming hot Schnitzel, breaded pork; Spaetzle, Germany's answer to pasta; and braised carrots. I didn't eat German food this good even when I was in Germany! The portions were more than I thought I could eat but I cleaned the plate and then followed it with a beautiful and delicious mini apple pie served with the Four Roses Whiskey recommended by the bartender. Now this is how to eat on a cold winter's night! On my next visit, I'm definitely going to try the smoked trout I smell wafting through the streets several nights a week. Check this place out! You'll be treated like family.

Wow! A real Eastern Oregon Jewel! Fantastic food and wonderful ambiance. Wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I had the Jambalaya, best I've EVER ate! Great beer selection and signature cocktails. Planning to go back soon, well worth the drive.

The best dining experience at The Wheat and Barley Pub! We had a party of four self-proclaimed "foodies" and all agreed that the food, cocktails and service were as good, if not better, than any Portland restaurant. And, you can't beat the price!! We will definitely be back!
