Thai Bay

Reviews:
This is one of the best restaurants in the Lincoln City/Newport, OR area. I'm not a huge Thai food fan, but I enjoy a number of the dishes at Thai Bay. The food always seems really fresh, and the seasonings are good. The view of the harbor is nice, and the atmosphere is relaxing. It's a great place to eat, and getting take-out is also a possibility.
This place is pretty good. We had 6 people and we ordered a bunch of random things to share. The food are delicious. The place is not busy. But It is by the water so you do get a view. Only thing I found at this restaurant is that its quite smoky. Not sure if the smoke is coming from the kitchen or its dust from outside. Its not expensive. And there are not a lot of restaurants near by. As well I think this is a family ran business. Ceiling can be a bit low if you are a tall person. Portion is ok. Because I am only reviewing base on its food, I give it 5 stars for its yumminess
I eat here every time I am at the coast. The service is always friendly and the food fresh and healthy. (The chicken used is white meat breast!) If you enjoy thai food you will not be disappointed. It has been consistently great for the 3 years I have been eating at Thai Bay.

Oh what a fabulous spot this is. Perched at the foot of the ocean, each room in this B& B is uniquely furnished. We had a ground floor suite which had a gas fireplace and a hot tub on the deck. The bed was so comfortable, the sheets so soft, that one could have luxuriated there all day. Step outside on the deck, and not only is the ocean lapping almost at your feet, but you can see the whales cavorting nearby. Truly 5 star accomodations.
Stayed here in the Whale Watching suite with my girlfriend for her birthday. We both absolutely loved it. The room was fantastic with a view of both the ocean and the channel to the harbor. The staff was helpful and welcoming. We both enjoyed the way the room was furnished and the hot tub on the deck. By the way, the room was aptly named - we saw a whale from our bedroom! Stay at the Channel House and enjoy Depoe Bay.
Our first stay here will not be the last, what a gem hiding on the Oregon coast. When we arrived we were greeted by Elliott, very Friendly and informative. He walked us to our room, and explained everything about our room ( the Cuckoo's nest) then he showed us the view from our deck, just as a whale broke the surface of the water, are you kidding me did they plan that. the room and the view are great. Watching the sun set from the hot tub on our deck was the best. The gentleman in the breakfast room could not do enough for us, the fresh baked rolls and pastries are great, we will be back next time we head up the coast. Thanks Channel House staff for a great stay.

Best coffee at the beach. I would drive from Lincoln City down and Newport up to get a cup. I'm an addict so I need my coffee fix and this place provides just enough. This would be a 3 star in Denver and a 2 or a 1 star in Portland, but 5 stars is accurate for the coast...I've never had a decent cup there.
Nice place. Great tasting coffee. Roast their own right there. Friendly folks. We ordered up two lightly flavored lattes and were very satisfied. 4 Yelp stars is pretty high for us. They were about 6 on our personal scale of 1-10. Also had a tasty slice of carrot cake but we were primarily interested in the coffee. We bought a bag of their medium blend beans to take home. We would recommend this place to our friends.
Great customer service. The owners are very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. My girls said their hot chocolate and chai tea were some of the best they've ever had. I had a caramel white chocolate that was very good! A new favorite of mine.

I've lived in Lincoln county my whole life but just recently moved to Depoe Bay. I love this pizza! I just tried it for the first time a few weeks ago and was really impressed! Will be back!
This place will be a regular stop of mine when travelling to the Lincoln City area in the future. They have a restaurant side and a bar side and the whole place is decorated with a mix of NASCAR and Oakland Raiders items. Service was just great. The man behind the bar promptly brought our drink order out and made sure all of our questions about food were answered. We ended up ordering a large garlic lovers pizza. Holy crap was it good! The pizza had pesto sauce, huge artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, and garlic (duh). The pizza was super cheesy and the crust was perfectly crispy and not dry in the slightest. The bar had many beers available and two hard ciders to choose from. Everyone in our group was more than satisfied with everything and we even stayed for a game of pool before heading back to the house. If in the area I highly recommend stopping in for some pizza.
The wait for a pizza was over 2 hours for a pick-up order but their pizza was tasty. There is some decent pool tables here too.

Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant

Reviews:
The BEST Mexican food on the Oregon coast!! Family owned and operated. Very friendly. Beautiful view of the rugged ocean. We eat here as often as possible. Price are good, quantity is generous.
Tasty, made-from-scratch Mexican food at good prices. Beautiful view of the waves crashing on the rocky shoreline of Depoe Bay. We moved to the Oregon coast after living in Las Vegas for almost 20 years, so we've had our share of Mexican food, both good and bad. Mazatlan was a very pleasant surprise. The refried beans are made from scratch daily, and have incredible flavor. Purists might freak out a little over the chile relleno, which is more of a fluffy omelet or frittata 9stuffed full of chopped green chilies, but it really tastes great. The service was fantastic; their young servers were much better that most of the lackluster slackers here on the coast. There are two other Mazatlan restaurants on the Central Oregon Coast - here, one south in Newport, and one north of here in Lincoln City. The one in Newport is pretty bad, so we were a little nervous trying this one. Apparently the one in Newport isn't closely associated with this one. Some people don't realize that "traditional" Mexican food can vary widely, with Tex-mex being different from Arizona-mex, which is different from Vegas-mex and Mexi-Cali, and even different regions of Mexico. Keep that in mind when you're trying Mexican in different parts of the country.
good but not as authentic as I would like. Very nice service.cute place great view.pruces are god and open on mondays.nit many are. We would stop in again.

At first, my family and I were concerned that we might have put ourselves in a town with not much going for it food-wise. Depoe Bay is tiny. We weren't sure what we were going to do for dinner, and so we settled on going here, to Tidal Raves. Talk about falling upstairs! The views are breathtaking and the service staff are quirky and fun (we didn't have a reservation, so we joked that we were here to cause trouble. The owner laughed and said, "I have a table right here where I can keep an eye on you then"). The food, while not cheap was awesome! I highly recommend the pan fried oysters- they were the best I had on the entire Oregon coast. The place is small, full of mostly older married couples, but the decor is very spacious and modern. Huge, wall to wall windows open up on the Pacific, a short cliff drop away. It has to be an incredible place to take a date.
Today 4 of us drove to Depot Bay to have lunch at the Tidal Raves Restaurant. The leisurely drive from Eugene took us 3hours.Since we had reservations we only waited 15min. For a window table overlooking the ocean. Our waitress Jennette was pleasant, patient and prompt. The food was colorful and had a beautiful presentation. Everything we ordered was delicious and cooked to perfection. We highly recommend the ciopino, clam chowder and snapper. The deserts were to die for and such a variety was offered. We are all Raving about this delightful experience today and will recommend our friends in Eugene to make a coast trip to Tidal Raves in Depot Bay. One last thought ----the prices were very reasonable. We are already planning our next visit there. Karen Grace Del Valle
We've eaten here before for dinner on the advice of a B&B owner, for a special occasion dinner. That meal was a memorably romantic dinner a few years back. Today while cruising back up the coast toward Salishan about 1:00, we decided it was time for a light lunch a few hours before our scheduled massages. So, without reservations we decided to stop in. We weren't disappointed. As most have noted, the VIEW IS TREMENDOUS and surprisingly, for a sunny Saturday in February, at lunchtime, we were immediately seated at a window seat. The wife had the crabcakes and I had the panfried Pacific oysters. Both lunches came with bread as well as a choice of soups or a small shrimp salad. We chose the latter. The salads were perfectly portioned for a light lunch and delightful. The bread was a hearty sourdough. The wife said her crabcakes (2) were very good, and even noted chuncks of crab, easily seen on the outer surface of a perfectly seared cake, the inside of which was equally tasty and creamy with sufficient meat to determine it was indeed a crab cake. These were served along with a light and fluffy rice pilaf and sauteed vegetables. My oysters came just the way I like them; small, lightly dusted with seasoned flour and flash-fried in a pan, so as not to overcook them. They were perfect. A side of crispy fries completed my meal. Our waiter paced our lunch precisely, kept our waters and my iced tea topped off without our even having to request it (an indicator of great service) and was all anyone could expect of a server. All in all a great meal. We commend this establishment to all Yelpers out there and congratulate the owners on doing a fine job.

Soooo Good! Great fresh salad bar. Terrific rib eyes. Best baked potato ever! Couldn't save room for dessert but they looked great too. Next time:)
So. What a pleasant surprise. Would have given 5 stars but but who gets 5 stars really? Yelped for steak and seafood on our way to Depoe Bay at 7pm on a Saturday nite in Feb. Very clean! Huge in our book. So friendly. Unassuming staff. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Kate was our server and we remember her name. Does that tell you anything? Ordered a steak w/ baked potatoe and fettuccini Alfredo w/ sautéed prawns. Both delicious. Steak was nicely seasoned and spot on wellness of med-rare. You could tell the pasta was made to order. We frequent the coast between Pacific City and Newport. We will be regulars at Jack's. Love the story... Love the family vibe!! Support this family owned diner!! You'll be glad you did.
Went here tonight on recommendation from our hotel. We were looking for good clam chowder that was not the flimsy excuse for chowder that has somehow become famous in Lincoln City. Great suggestion. We had wonderful thick chowder with large chunks of clam, potato and bacon. The special was the 8oz. pub steak, which we split. Perfectly cooked and seasoned with no fat or waste. Love to support family- run businesses who don't rest on their laurels.

If you want to have a blast with the locals, this is the place to go, always a great time here!
If you are looking for affordable dinner past 8 pm around at Depoe Bay, pretty much you are out of luck. Originally, we were going to try out Jack's but they closed after 8 pm. Booooo...! So the other option was Wing Wa Chinese Restaurant. We got there about 8:30 and there were only two other diners there. Food is standard Chinese American fare. We ordered out of the Light Dinner menu. I got the Kung Pao Shrimps which came with Egg Flower soup, crab puffs, and pork fried rice. My dinner was $8.95. Jesse ordered the Sweet Sour pork with the same pairing and his was $7.95. The soup was tasty. My Kung Pao Shrimps was decent. Shrimps were fresh (woohooo) and it was good amount of spice. Jesse's sweet & sour pork was pretty good and it came with Pineapple chunks which was a surprise. Crab puffs were tasty. The only downside was the fried rice. It tasted burnt and tasteless. Service was in the weird side. The lady was nice in the so so way. When she gave our check, she stood there and waited for us to fill out our check. It made it very awkward. I've never been to a restaurant where the server waited next to us and stared at the check to see how much tip we were going to put in. It's not a big deal, but it's pretty weird. Now, we know that we have to eat before 8 pm if we are staying at Depoe Bay again because I don't really want to end up eating Chinese food when I'm at the coast. :).
bad, over fried, soggy egg rolls...do not go! cheesy interior almost scary dark...

Small diner/ice cream shop off HWY 101. When you walk in your overwhelmed with the smell of fried food. They definitely need a better ventilation system. I had the fried clams which were tremendous! The fresh cut fries lacked eye appeal, but once in the mouth, they were good. Nice "hole in the wall" place.
Had a convenient bathroom and some really tasty Tillamook Ice Cream. The Marionberry Pie flavor was awesome! Too bad our brother loaded up on everything EXCEPT that flavor. Makes us want it even more.
We waited at least 45 minutes for our food only for fries that were just warm, chowder that had been dished up so far ahead that it already had a skin forming (also just warm and not as good as other reviews say) and food that wasn't much better than what I could have gotten at a fast food restaurant (for much cheaper). My friend got the gluten free chicken strips and said they were just ok and complained that the coating kept falling off when she tried to eat them. The excuse given for the food taking so long was that they "got slammed." Yes, they did. However, the people who came after us mostly purchased drinks or ice cream (which should in no way interfere with the cook making our food). Besides, shouldn't you get the food out in the same order as the orders were placed? The group that came in after us ended up cancelling their order because they had been waiting so long that if they waited any longer they were going to miss their whale watching boat. Also, the (I would presume) owner came out and told us that we needed to scoot the table back (we were seated outside) because of city ordinances. We didn't move the table, we simply sat down at it. Doing this resulted in my being pressed up against the building unable to move my legs because the table was pressed up against them. When it came time to leave, we had to move the table out in order for me to be able to get out. The only redeeming quality is that they gave us a discount due to our long wait.

This is a very cute restaurant! My boyfriend and I were stopping by depoe bay to get some lunch and decided to try chowder bowl and I'm glad we did! It was clean, friendly and the decor was very cute. I got the cheddar tuna melt and it was delicious! My boyfriend got the pulled BBQ salmon sandwich and that was the best thing I have had in a long time. I think I have a new favorite meal at the coast! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and made good time even though he was the only waiter there. I will definitely be returning to chowder bowl again!
Delicious, thick, creamy and tasty chowder. Great ambience, too with the train that goes around the restaurant. Good service.
the chowder was excellent we have it whenever we come to the coast. and the hamburgers were a juicy delight
