From Arizona, so I am picky about my Mexican. But this place is good. Very friendly people.

*Vegetarian review* Okay, let me start by saying that I ate at one Ixtapa before this in Philomath and had some spinach enchiladas, and they were much too salty. I can forgive that. Too much salt is an easy mistake. On to the Dallas location. Servers were very nice, and the food came out with good timing. There was just one thing that really irked me. I asked the server if their rice was vegetarian, to which he responded, no. I then asked him which rice comes with the vegetarian dishes (as it is a side on all or many of them). He said the regular rice, cooked in chicken broth! I'm not sure if this is a corporate problem or a local problem, but it is a huge oversight. The title of the menu section clearly states, "Vegetarianos." This becomes false if you serve chicken fried rice. The server informed me that white rice was available, but I opted for more beans. I should rate very low stars to bring attention to this disrespectful gesture regarding the rice, but I know someone will get a lot more upset than me about it, just a matter of time.

Atmosphere and great food describe Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant. As you step inside the restaurant you will feel as though you were transported to a village in Mexico. They had us with the fresh, crispy chips served with a mild, tasty salsa. Next came the Combo Shrimp Enchiladas served on a large platter with rice and pinto beans. and Arrozcon Pollo, chicken with rice, mushrooms, onions in a zesty sauce. YES, we will have leftovers for lunch. The shrimp enchiladas were some of the best I have tasted. The Arrozcon Pollo is a favorite. Do not pass up the chance to taste some of the best Mexican food served up in the town of Dallas, Oregon! It is worth the drive if you want a real treat. As a treat with your bill you will receive crispy flour chip topped with whipped cream finished with a fruit drizzle. Am I making you hungry?

Great food. The nicest waitstaff. This place is probably the best value of any restaurant in Dallas. Real authentic Mexican food at a decent price served by very pleasent workers. A+ but I can't give it 5 stars because it is not really a classy place (this is Dallas afterall!)

Great food and fair prices. You can find coupons every month in local paper or ads sent in mail if you live in area. Only reason why it did not get 5 star is not my favorite but it is the closest. A nice place to take your loved one away from crazy world. It is small and that is part of it's allure.

This is a great family restaurant. The staff treats you like family. There are several other Mexican food choices in town, but we always come back to Ixtapa.

Quality food, good value, and friendly staff in quaint atmosphere. Not a lot of choice in Dallas for Mexican food but the folks at Ixtapa still maintain a competitive establishment.

Good food (though not what I'm used to from New Mexico), still, great portions, fresh cooked and tasty and great staff,. The owners (Guty) are some of the nicest people. In fact, they are so nice I'd probably return even if I didn't think the food was good:)

Good good good big big big! Wife & I stopped on our way back to Albany from a golf & coast trip. It was a Wednesday and we were early - about 5:30. Stopped in based on the Yelp reviews. I was glad we did. The tres chilies was excellent and enough for two meals. It was nice weather so we dined outside. Very pleasant.

Our favorite Mexican Restaurant! The staff is friendly and they take good care of you. I consider myself a Mexican salsa connoisseur and I must say theirs is the best to be found anywhere. It is just the right blend. The fajitas are a must experience dish! You just can't go wrong there. The other foods are excellent as well. Ixtapa is a gem in Dallas!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
