Great food! I travel quite a bit and was so thankful to find a friendly place... With tapas no less! I live near a big city where there isn't more than one decent tapa restaurant. Anyhow, the Tempranillo taste I had was terrific, the chile relleno was outstanding and beautifully plated. The yellowtail with plantain chips was tasty, too. Perfect amount for one person, not too heavy, but I was hungry when I went in there. Wish I could've eaten more! The dessert menu looked tempting. I will def be back.

I expected Del Alma to be super fancy with awesome selections of food but honestly I rather go to the Mexican restaurant down the street. The flavors were nothing like you haven't tasted before, for example cumin, chili powder, lime, and other South American spices. It just wasn't has elevated as I thought for the price.

Yum! We had a flight of wine to start with and tried a variety of tapas. 1. Cheese and meat try was lovely with down figs, fresh fruit over jam, and lovely pickles. 2. Yellowfin tuna crudo. Lovely plantain chips, avocado, and melon. Lovely combinations! 3. Pulled pork and scallops. 4. Roasted beets. The favorite of the night was the beets! Go here and taste many things.

I browsed the Northern Willamette Valley for something upscale. I was in search of something that would remind me of home, Napa Valley. After finding this restaurant on Yelp I decided to give it a try with my wife. We navigated our way to downtown Corvallis and took the road along the river. The restaurant is on the river side of a taller new building that appears to have upscale apartments or condo's above. Not complaining, I actually liked the set up. Plus it's far away from the other restaurants that you're not fighting for parking or tight spots. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is great. I really liked how there are about four different seating levels inside. If/when I return I'll ask for a window seat or something on the second tier. We were seated by the bar, which would be my last choice. Our wait staff was courteous and attentive. Never did my glass of water or other drinks get to the bottom. Also, after ordering the different courses the food was usually out within 10 minutes. My wife and I shared a Mushroom Quesadilla and Bacon Guacamole for an appetizer. Both excellent and you get a lot for what you pay for. I got the Fillet Mignon over Yukon potatoes and wife got the Butternut Squash Gorditas. Again, both came reasonably quick. The plating wasn't great, but good. The Filet was very tender and when mixed with the potatoes and the sauce covering everything, you remember each bite. I will note that I had requested medium rare, but mine came out medium. Still excellent, but that's just being picky (the plate is $36 after all). For dessert we tried the deconstructed chocolate cake and another dish I can't recall the name of, however it did have Cafe in the title and came with a salted caramel top. The cake, meh, but the Cafe plate, ten out of ten good. Overall, if your looking for a restaurant that can offer stellar service, a romantic setting, and pretty darn good food, look no further. We're happy we came here; I was definitely reminded of home.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Corvallis. They have the most delicious food and drinks in town. They constantly change the menu around to keep things new and fresh. Their service is top notch and keeps us coming back.

One of the only fine dining options in Corvallis and in this writer's opinion the best of all the options for a romantic date. The appetizers are all delicious and I have tried all of theat aboard menu ones. A couple of my favorite would be the tuna crudo and the brussel sprouts. The soups are rarely a let down accept for when you realize you don't get free refills. With a solid wine list and a number of solid martini options, you are sure not to go thirsty. Although the menu do change a bit throughout the year, the meals are all well prepared and a good portion size so that you don't go home too full. The only area I don't feel this spot does not surpass other restaurants in the area is deserts. Not that they aren't any good, I just feel they are a little overpriced as you can get similar ones nearby for less and enjoy it just as much. The help staff tends to be attentive, well versed in the offering, and friendly.

I work upstairs from Del Alma. I have eaten there a few times. I will say that working upstairs from them is pure torture: The scents and delicousness on their air is cruel and unusual punishment. We spend the days hungry in our office while they cook before the dinner service. The spiced hazelnuts are awesome. Get them.

The ambience is great, the food is fantastic, the servers are attentive and knowledgeable and the wine list is pretty amazing as well! My husband and I went here for our anniversary and called beforehand to make sure they would be able to accommodate for my gluten intolerance. The servers assured us that they would be able to and upon arrival, were told which items could be made gluten free and which could not. I appreciate this, so that I don't have to guess which items I can and can't have and spend 20 minutes talking back and forth with the server and chef. The food itself was pretty amazing, the presentation was great and our wine was paired perfectly with our meals, as per our server's recommendations. We also indulged in dessert and man, I am so glad that we did! Delicious! Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant! Perfect for a special dinner out, or a casual glass of wine and dessert.

My favorite restaurant in Corvallis. Always the best service, and great food. The bacon guac is to die for, and so is the tuna crudo! They have very creative and tasty cocktails. The Sargent Pepper is my go-to. Del Alma is really the only up scale, nice restaurant in Corvallis. It's the only place that I will recommend to people in Corvallis. Having moved away from Oregon, I always make sure to visit Del Alma when I'm in town.

  • Tom E.

I've been remiss about leavimg a review for this place. It is, hands down, the best restaurant in Corvallis, and, IMHO, among the best in the Valley. I have eaten here three times in the past month and been tremendously impressed every time. The food is innovative, leaning toward Latin American, with a deep passion for local ingredients. Imagine guacamole with apples, hazelnuts and bacon or wild mushroom quesedillas. The tuna ceviche is fabulous! The small plates are quite ample making dining for two from three of those options a perfect choice. The bar is very good, the service is professional and quick, and the overall pace of the place is nicely relaxed.

  • John C.

Everything here is top notch. The food is tasty, the dishes are well prepared and served with style. The decor and atmosphere are relaxing and welcoming. The bar is the best in town, as are the drink makers. My wife and I often come here to just sit at the bar with a cocktail and a small meal, to take in the atmosphere and unwind. The only drawback to Del Alma is the price. A full course meal for two will get you to three figures without drinks.

This is the real deal for fine dining in Corvallis, possibly the only place to have a really nice restaurant experience. The ambiance is great, with elevated tables over looking the river through sky high windows. Good lighting, ample space for privacy despite how many people fit into the space. The food is decently priced and tasty. There is a Spanish flair to the cuisine, but its definitely a fusion restaurant. If you're trying to decide between Magenta, Luc, and Del Alma, I'm telling you that Del Alma will give the best experience. The others are just trying too hard.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Corvallis. Excellent atmosphere and the food is divine. The servers are some of the most professional that I have ever encountered. If you are unsure about a menu item, they communicate very well with what to expect. Flavors are spectacular, the plates are perfect....make sure to save room for dessert though :)

My husband and I came here for his birthday dinner, which happened to fall during Corvallis Culinary Week. We'd heard raves about del Alma and figured this would be a good excuse to give it a try. At the waitress's suggestion, we ordered two of the culinary week specials and then an order of albondigas off the tapas menu. First came the bread... two kinds of bread, with amazing little spreads. The white bean dip was my favorite, but my husband favored the olive tapenade. The roasted piquante pepper dip was also superb. When you're already oohing and aaahing over the bread, you know you're in for a treat. I had a pork dish with a barbecue-type mole over roasted potatoes and mixed greens. The spices were subtle and rich. My husband's chicken tacos with fresh guacamole were delicious. But the albondigas, big spicy pork and beef meatballs with foccacia and dipping sauce, blew us away. Since it was my husband's birthday, we knew we had to top this off with dessert. The waitress suggested the molten chocolate cake... another excellent recommendation. We were surprised when she brought it out with a candle, since we weren't playing up the birthday thing at all... and even more surprised when we received the check and the dessert was complimentary! Everything here was utter perfection... the service, the food, the drinks, the atmosphere. We can't afford to eat there every week, but we will definitely come back often.

what a find! We stumbled onto this place near the river just as it was opening and were able to take advantage of happy hour. Every plate of tapas we enjoyed was a masterpiece, tasty and beautifully presented. We especially enjoyed the quesadillas, prepared with locally foraged mushrooms. Very creative dishes, warm and friendly service, and the restaurant itself is a great setting. A little hard to find in a larger building (the entrance is a little hidden), well worth looking for. PS, the portion sizes are generous, even at happy hour, so it is a good value to boot!

We are lucky to have a restaurant this good in little old Corvallis. The food is great, I love sitting at the bar and watching Kinn and Mark do their bartendery wizardry, and although the atmosphere is upscale (for Corvallis), you can wear jeans and a clean shirt and be comfortable any evening. 5 stars for the Best Restaurant in Town!

My husband Steve and I went to del Alma last night for the first time. We'll be back for sure! Superb food, beautifully presented and lovely atmosphere. The restaurant was almost to capacity on a Friday night, every seat at the bar taken. Yet there was not a hitch in service. Our waiter made some great recommendations for different tapas and entrees. Overall, an excellent very cosmopolitan experience.

This place is so wonderful! I've been here so many times. I am a college student, this place is a little pricy for college kids but I still manage to try to come once a week. And I love coming here for date nights! Note: I am constantly adding to this review as I try the seasonal dishes. The tapas are out of this world! I definitely recommend asking them what kind of tacos they have! They come with two tacos! The prawn tacos are very good! The grilled prawns are always cooked perfectly! The milk braised lamb tacos are super tender and tasty! And the pulled pork tacos are soooo delicious! The salmon fish tacos are very flavorful! I don't eat anything spicy and these are subtly spicy but nothing I couldn't handle. The flavors in all of the tacos are nicely balanced with their guacamole. Beware they can get messy!! I really didn't think I was a fan of tacos until I had them here. The roasted beets are also a favorite when I had them they had yellow beets and they were great. Pulled pork and scallops are so yummy!! My mom loved this dish! I love scallops! They are cooked perfectly and when eaten together with the pork the flavors are so exciting! The Chilled Carne Asada is a nice dish! I can't say I've had a lot of carne asada in my life but this plate was pretty good, nice quality meat. And I definitely would recommend getting the ceviche, it is one of my favorites! The yellowfin tuna crudo is also a good option if you're looking for a nice raw fish combo with avocado and melon! I wouldn't recommend the bacon guacamole, I know anything with bacon sounds tempting but there's not enough bacon and wayyyy too many hazelnuts. The beef tenderloin pinchos are amazingggg. The jumbo shrimp pinchos are good too but not as good as the beef ones. The Ensalada del Alma is usually always on the menu and I love ordering it to share so that I have enough room for all the tapas! I usually don't like blue cheese but it was not overpowering at all in this salad. The Spanish olives and the pear make this salad! The mashed potatoes that come with the filet are also heavenly! Sometimes I just order a side of mashed potatoes by themselves! The filet is always cooked perfectly to order and is my favorite! I'm so sad I have to go home for the summer and be so far away from Corvallis! Hope your experience here is as good as mine are!

Classy, delicious, and a great atmosphere. Doesn't matter if you're just stopping in for drinks or a big night out, I always recommend del alma. Some of the best mixed drinks around, hands down.

This place is pretty spendy, so we only go every month or two. But I look forward to every trip. Besides the large wine list, they offer some very unique cocktails. I highly recommend the margarita, the pina colada, and something spicy they have there called the Sergeant Pepper. I love the tacos and the mushroom quesadillas. The sauces they swirl all over the plates are to die for. Go. And the waitstaff is stupendous. We had a young man with dark hair as our server last week and he was very friendly and professional. First class experience.

Broke the seal and ate at Alma last evening. The restaurant is in a nice location, at the south end of downtown. It's a relatively large space, with ample bar seating for those without reservations (like us). The full menu is served in the bar, too. As the current best-according-to-Yelp restaurant, I'll admit: I had high expectations going in. The front of house and wait staff did not disappoint. We were seated promptly, tended to often (without being pushy), and our plates were cleared lightning fast. These dedicated professionals add one full star to the restaurant's total. But the food, though, the food I didn't understand. Alma bills itself as a tapas place, and I think that's where the main problem lies. It's Mexican-American with a bit of Tex, and sometimes Asian(?) mixed in. The "tapas" plates are HUGE. We had the chile relleno and albondigas to start, along with a salad, to share. The chile was good--true Tex-Mex style. The albondigas were ok. The salad was covered with a smoky blue cheese that killed my palate. Although our food was ok, our waiter came back to ask if we wanted entrees and we were stuffed! With food leftover! While some might find these large portions a good thing, I found it confusing. Waaaay too large a tapa to share even as a snack. And if a small group wanted to get several plates to share, well then there would be too much food. In part because of my curiosity, and in equal part because I knew I was going to write this review, we tried dessert. My man had the cafe con leche and I had the cake of three milks (cuatro leches! Get it?). The cafe was supposed to have been made with a bit of caramel and served with a chocolate tuille. It arrived as pudding, with a ton of caramel, mostly an orange flavor with a hint of coffee taste. Wha? The tres leches cake was also served with caramel...on a plate of it, actually. We couldn't finish the cake or the pudding on account of the sugar rush. One of the biggest dessert disappointments in recent history. I can see how Alma could be for some but, other than the great service, I am not a fan.

Beautiful dining atmosphere - and always wanting the food to be memorable, which it really is not. Great wine selections! It would be smart to host some wine events to get adventurously further down the wine menu. The food tries a bit too hard - and doesn't quite deliver. What is it Corvallis? Lovely restaurants with beautiful ambiance and staff with "not quite it" food. How can Portland get on the spot every time? I need a new food life.

I loved this restaurant. We dined on a Tuesday evening so the place was filled with what appeared to be business dinners. The space was beautiful but most importantly quiet. It was the perfect spot to have a conversation over great food. I was driving so I couldn't partake of what looked like an amazing full bar. I heard martinis being made all night long which made me jealous but every once in a while you have to fall on the knife and be the DD. :) Our dinner was fantastic. I had the caesar salad, colleagues had the tomato basil soup. Everyone commented on the great starters. For dinner my colleagues had the beef small plate, I believe the dish was tenderloin over greens which looked like collard greens. Both comments on the great taste of the greens. Just from a glance, the greens looked amazing. I had the chili relleno and it was fantastic. The chili was not greasy at all which can sometimes happen and the chili was set on a couple of sauces which were really good. Sorry, I am not an expert in what is on the place but whatever it was made the dish. There was just the right amount of spice too. It has to be noted that one colleague had specific dietary requirements which included no animal protein or oil of any kind. The server and chef worked together to alter a dish so my friend could safely eat his meal. It was a very nice touch. I'll be back when I am visiting Corvallis.

This is a great place to enjoy a relaxing meal with friends or for date night with your spouse. Very classy ambience, combined with fabulous food. Who doesn't like a huge select of wine with chocolates. I sat at the bar and my server Lexi was top notch. Friendly, professional., and made great recommendations. I had the 8 oz filet tonight and it was cooked perfectly (medium-rare). I saw the dessert menu and wanted to order all of it. Unfortunately trying to lose a few pounds so I only was able to fantasize about dessert. They played very relaxing music in the background. Would love to return with my wife in the future when I am not traveling for work. What a gem of a Yelp find. I have this place bookmarked now. Give them a try.

Tapas restaurant with excellent food and service. The food is more Spanish gourmet than Mexican. Excellent chef. We had the hazelnut (!) guacamole, quesadillas filled with sautéed mushrooms, and tender, luscious beef brochettes cooked exactly as we asked with yummy greens. The sauces on each item were different and exquisite! The waiter was attentive, handsome, and charming. Full bar with some unique cocktails, like a del Alma variant on the Negroni, which was delicious and complex. Go there! You will be surprised! Prices were quite reasonable, and decor classy.

Anniversary Dinner last night was wonderful. Started with champagne cocktail and the Pulled Pork and Scallop Tapa. YUM! I'll come back and have that as my entree sometime. Salmon for him. El Bosque wild mushroom and tamale plate for me. Each time we've been here one of us has ordered the El Bosque and while it is slightly different each time, it is always a delight of flavours. The salmon was accompanied with sweet, sour and spicy elements that paired (tripled?) very well making each bite flavour-full. Our special night was topped off by a cava toast compliments of our server, who was attentive and quick with our requests. Del Alma's quality sourced foods and innovative plates rival anything Portland has to offer.

This is one of the few "fancy" places to go to dinner in this small town. I personally think that it is overrated. The food is alright but portions are small and prices are high. Service is alright. Everything about this place is average.

This was a really good meal. We went for a rehearsal dinner, so we had a limited menu, but my wife and I each ordered something different for 3 courses and everything was delicious. For dinner, she had the winner with a short rib/guac/black bean build your own fajita dish. The beef was amazingly tender, and the spicy sauce was great. Really a fun dish. The key lime pie was so rich I couldn't finish, and the chocolate tart was so rich a 10 year old girl at my table couldn't start. I thought they were both amazing. This place, like everywhere else, also had a great beer selection.

It was love at first bite. The steak. It was the 8oz filet mignon. How do I describe how good it was? Possibly the best steak I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned. Perfectly trimmed. Perfectly prepared. Smothered in sautéed mushrooms and bleu cheese butter. Truly sublime. It came with a fantastic au jus, smashed potatoes with a whisper of garlic, and greens. I started with Albondigas from the Tapas menu. They were delicious. Frannie had the gnocchi with Dungeness crab and loved it. Her Pina Coladas were excellent. The service was great, the room is beautiful, the ambiance unforgettable. As close to a perfect dining experience as one can have.

If you are looking for a perfect meal with awesome atmosphere this is the place to go. I have had several different dishes from the lamb to the salmon and I have never been disappointed. I would highly recommended the Del Alma mojito if Christmas had a taste this would be it. I have also had almost everything on the tapas menu and have always left full and happy. It is a beautiful restaurant with a great menu that is worth every dollar you spend there!

I travel on business to Corvallis almost every other week, so I've eaten at many restaurants in town. I had heard great things about Del Alma, but I was disappointed. I don't have much to say other than the fact that it certainly was not worth the cost.

Wow, little 'ol Corvallis has changed a lot since my childhood. I return once or twice a year and am always struck by how so many things have changed, yet the downtown remains the same. It's still reminiscent of Main Street USA, save for the Renaissance Building high rise (high for Corvallis) that now claims a large footprint right on the riverfront. On the ground floor of the building is Del Alma, a place that looks like it could reside in San Francisco. My godfather has a standing table at the Latin fusion restaurant, if you don't believe me, just ask for table 203 and the host will reply "oh, you mean the Lew table?" We dined at Del Alma a few days before Christmas, and in my godfather's grandeur, we ate like kings and closed the place down. The waiters knew him by name and the service was excellent, giving it that small town Corvallis feel that as an adult, I love. The cocktail program is robust, with quite the menu of signature drinks. We ordered a variety of small plate appetizers and they all were standout excellent and paired well with our cocktails. The scallops and pork belly served in a squash was a beautiful preparation and the scallops were cooked to perfection. The dessert flan and a glass of sherry was a nice way to end the experience. The space itself is rather cavernous, not in the least bit intimate or date night-ish as the other reviewers mentioned. My hometown is definitely growing up!

WOW! This restaurant is not to be missed. We tried a variety of menu items and each was superb--they have an incredible chef. The service was attentive and restaurant had great ambiance. It was a little pricey for Corvallis but worth every dollar. We had Albondigas, tuna Crudo, Cochinita, El Bosque, and the cheesecake for dessert. Absolutely one of the best meals I've every had. Can't wait to return! TRY IT!

My husband and I came here for a date night and absolutely loved it. There aren't many high end options in Corvallis so we decided to try this one out for a special night out. Our server was attentive and sweet, and had great advice about the dishes. The food was fantastic. For appetizers we had the Beef Tenderloin Pinchos (skewers) and the Ahi Tostada. Both were a great size and had a ton of flavor. The beef was super tender and the ahi tostada's salsa was to die for. For entrees, I got the short ribs on orzo, and the meat was fall off the bone delicious. I could have gone without a littttle of the sauce - there was just too much of it. The hubs got the Filet Mignon and he said it's one of the best that he's had. And let me tell you, the man knows his filet! I skipped dessert but my husband got the cheesecake and his eyes got HUGE on the first bite. Always a good sign! We will definitely go here again for a special occasion.

Great menu that changes often enough, yet has some standby's. Awesome bar great drinks. Nice atmosphere, as close to elegant as you'll get in Corvallis. Informed and helpful wait staff. Tapas, South American style dishes. Interesting choices, never been disappointed. Great appetizers and desserts. Costs a bit, but it's in line with the quality, service, and surroundings.

Just have to say: I'm local and returning to del Alma periodically just feels like I'm returning to a very gracious home. This restaurant is spacious and yet warm and cozy. The wait staff could not be more helpful and gracious. The foods are fabulous. Tonight I shared roasted Brussels sprouts that really were perfectly seasoned with bacon and wild mushrooms. Other tapas were our old favorites and always perfect and fresh. Thanks you del Alma for being here.

Del Alma is the best restaurant in town. Del Alma is the best restaurant in town. Really. The new-Spanish cuisine here is interesting, ever-changing, and always fantastically prepared. The prices are slightly lower than other upscale restaurants in town, but the quality is something unmatched. The location is very nice, but it's also a little out of the way. I think a lot of people don't even know about it. Definitely worth a cruise-by if you want something special. And the cocktails are amazing! Yay!

Del Alma in Corvallis, wonderful location by the Williamette River. Very chic ambiance! Had been there before, and were lucky enough this time to get a ground floor table. The food is a Latin fusion, with entrees and tapas, which is what we enjoyed. Good selection of wines and other beverages. This is a popular restaurant so be warned, especially on a day when the OSU Beavers are playing a football game.

This restaurant is way OVERPRICED. I don't know if it was because I was in a large fifteen person group, but the food portion was way too small. I love Corvalllis and I'll definitely be back, but this is the last time I'll be visiting this restaurant. I mean $34 for a steak and there isn't even free refills on the lemonade. The food isn't even that good, especially for the price.

I agree with a prior reviewer that this is definitely the best restaurant in Corvallis. The atmosphere was sophisticated, yet warm and inviting. Service was outstanding. We tried two of the salads as starters, and then two of the dinner entrees. Everything was excellent, especially the poached pear served with the "Ensalada del Alma". My filet mignon was tender and delicious. We will definitely go back, and highly recommend that you try out this fabulous restaurant!

Holy yumminess. What a gem! I was totally surprised by this place and can't believe everyone in town isn't talking about it. Okay, maybe that's because it is a little pricey, but as a special occasion place, the prices are definitely worth it. The service was also pretty fantastic, and I loved sitting upstairs on the mezzanine. The food had everyone in a great mood, and we stayed for dessert and more wine, basking in the lighting and post-deliciousness haze. I can't wait to go back.

So great, and I can't say how wonderful this place was for an epic date night. My boyfriend took me here, and since it was our first time here, we chose to try a lot of the menu. Just from the three pairings of spreads with the bread, I can say the olive tapenade was so delicious. A perfect starter to the night. We also ordered drinks, a Hurricane for me and a Mate Sour for my date. The freshness of the drinks was super evident. The tapas we ordered the Yellow Fin Crudo, Rockfish Ceviche, and Dungeness Crab Tamale. So light and fresh. Our waitress was super kind and personable, and worked with us to make sure we had breaks in between courses. Our entrees consisted of the Rockfish and the Filet. The filet was like butter, and the smokey blue cheese butter was a great compliment. My one downside to this plate was the garlic au jus. It was just too strong for the plate, and I would have preferred it left off. Lastly, we finished with two delicious desserts: the Coconut Tres Leche Cake and the Cheesecake. The cheesecake was more savory, which wasn't for me, but the Tres Leche was to die for. Perfect way to end the night. I realize this is a more expensive restaurant which is a deterrent for a lot, but as a college student, it was so nice to enjoy a more upscale night with my boyfriend. Everyone we were in contact with were so kind and polite, and made our night great. The ambiance was wonderful, and was so nice. Thank you for helping us have a wonderful date night that was a long time coming.

Alright. Let's be real: this is Corvallis's best fancy restaurant. That being said, it's just not the real deal. To summarize: the food and wine is really tasty. Most of the entrees consist of slow-cooked well-spiced meat. I had a very tasty and tender lamb dish. Overall, the food was pretty good, but nothing stood out the way certain entrees at upscale restaurants I've been to in Portland or S.F. have. The wine list is expensive, but with a good selection, and the bottle of tempranillo we ordered went really well with the lamb. The downside is that the bread was all completely doughy. It was so undercooked it was inedible. So we told the busser who was nearby, and she was apologetic, but left the inedible bread on the table and didn't bring any more cooked bread, but brought chips instead. We sat outside, which was nice, but meant that we rarely saw our waitress. Ordinarily, I would never judge these sorts of missteps in service so harshly, but for the price, I feel like they should be providing the complete dining experience.

We have been here twice, and ended up eating in the bar both times (and have not actually seen the restaurant). Wine list was lovely. Food was good. Service was great. Nice to be in a restaurant that didn't have 1/3 of the menu devoted to local, grass-fed beef burgers. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just sayin'.

Great place for a date - we had a secluded table on one of the upper tiers, ordered three rounds of tapas to share and split an incredible piece if key lime pie (goes great with the house margarita). Del Alma is exactly the kind of relaxed decadence we look for in a date night restaurant.

  • Killer S.

I'm a little reluctant to review them based on my culinary week experience, since a single mass-produced dish probably isn't the best representation of their overall quality. Eh, ah well. Their offering was "Braised pork shoulder in a pineapple cascabel mojo and a blood orange hot sauce made with honey, chile de árbol and serrano and habañero chiles, all served on a bed of frijoles negros with a side of achiote rice." The good - the sauce was killer. Absolutely killer. Just the right sweet-spicy blend. It was a good match for the pork shoulder. Service was prompt and it's a pretty neat setting down next to the river. Big space to fill but they did a nice job on the interior decorating and lighting to make it feel inviting. The bad - the pork itself was a pretty poor cut of meat, and very overdone. I hesitate to complain about the cut itself but if you're putting out several dozen of these a night you darn well should have the preparation down. Maybe our late seating meant that it sat under a heat lamp for a while. Hard to tell exactly what happened here, but it makes me hesitate to go back. Their tapas menu looks awfully tempting and maybe it'd be worth the risk for the smaller plates in the $7-12 range. I'd hate to order a $30 entree and have it come out like the pork shoulder did...

My boyfriend took me here on a date night, probably after looking up reviews on Yelp, and it was an amazing choice! They were offering a three-course dinner for $25, so we both got that. First of all, the bread they brought out was delicious, and it came with three spreads - we couldn't help but ask for more and more! When our food came out, every dish was very good, especially the steelhead guacamole and the pork tacos - the food has the perfect amount of spiciness, and they use really interesting ingredients. For dessert, we were obsessed with the apple citrus pound cake! The restaurant was clean and elegant, and our server was awesome. We highly recommend Del Alma!

Went for Tapas. My wife ordered a drink and they were out of the ingredient. I ordered a beer and they were out of that too. Ordered a tapas plate, guess what? We're out! This is 7pm on a Saturday night...who the hell is doing your purchasing and inventory?!? Get your shit together! The food ranged from "Meh" (both empanadas) to "Great" (the shrimp skewers). For the amount of money we dropped though, the value for dollar just wasn't there as the portions were quite small. I know, it's tapas, but seriously these were 2-3 bites and done. For $9? C'mon. But like many other Corvallis places, if the bourgeois are willing to fork it over, then that's what they'll keep pumping out. Me? I was more impressed by the atmosphere than the food, and that's never a good sign. Won't be back, sorry DA.

An amazing find! Went there with my skeptical teen daughter who was disgruntled with my dining choice, until she had a couple of delicious tapas, followed by the best tenderloin steak...topped off by an assortment of homemade ice cream, and a Spanish coffee for mom! Fine dining...not a good place for younger kiddos!

Dined here on a Tuesday night in November of 2011. Or maybe Wednesday, whatever. My companion had eaten here previously, and dubbed it a "ghetto" Andina's. So after a couple of cocktails elsewhere, I suggested we have a bite. Very good service, polite, attentive. The chairs were comfortable. But both the food and drinks were disappointing at best. Started off with a house cocktail. Top shelf-ish, and priced at around $8.75, It was surprisingly unbalanced and just off. I mean, everywhere from michelin-starred restaurants to (some of) the $4 happy hour libations at the downward dog-- bartenders taste their drinks. It is kind of a basic concept which should be adopted here. At the bar as well as in the kitchen, since I doubt that our dishes would have been served to us as they were, had any member of the kitchen staff taken an interest in the flavor of the food being sent out. Began with a tuna tartare of sorts- very fresh but extremely underseasoned raw tuna, alongside diced fresh avocado and I believe papaya. It really could have benefitted from a sprinkling of salt, but of course there was none to be found on the table. What next: a smoked, roasted pork item that had a horribly oversmoked flavor- and a Queso fundido which was actually a small bowl of scaldingly hot black bean puree topped with an assortment of melted cheeses which, based on flavor I'd say had been sitting around the back of the walk-in since august. Would not return, sad to say.

Cara and I went here with another couple last night. Here's what we had- Beef Tenderloin Pinchos, Crab and Shrimp Bisque Sopa, Queso Fundido, and Dark Chocolate Peanut Lamb Mole. We finished with the four of us sharing a Mocha Chocolate Torte. The Crab/Shrimp Bisque was totally rad. Rich and full of flavor with chunks of crab and large shrimp. The Beef Tenderloins were the best dish of the night. Perfectly selected cuts of beef, prepared medium. Easily cut with a fork, perfectly seasoned with a pepper/mustard rub. Amazing. Frankly, Cara and I are tempted to go back tonight just to get the $9 Tenderloins again. The only slight letdown was the Lamb Mole. Don't get me wrong, everything was delicious about it, but it was missing a companion- chips or maybe lettuce wraps to roll it in. Not sure, but it was just served with some tortilla ribbons sprinkled on it. A little too heavy to just eat with a fork. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed the leftovers the next morning all by themselves... Hard to find anything critical to say. We will be back, many times I'm sure.

Returned to Del Alma for anniversary, again so good. Ask for a table on an upper level, try the fixed price dinner on Wednesday or Thursday. I enjoyed the steelhead and Maria the pork chop. Also, Del Alma has a good wine list; we enjoyed a Mosel Reisling which went nicely with the somewhat spice food. Going back.

Del Alma is a great spot for small plates or dinner, and especially for cocktails from my favorite bartender in Corvallis...Kinn. They've warmed up a large space and their staff are professional and thoughtful, and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Go!

My girlfriends & I finally made it to Del Alma - we tried before but is was too busy to get in. Now I know why - the food is amazingly innovative and creatively delicious - appropriately spicy, flavorful & rich. I had the Tierra Y Mar - shrimp and sausage on a sweet potato tamale drizzled in crab creole sauce. My friends enjoyed the Conchinita Pibil, BBQ pork with mango salad, fresh guacamole served with homemade fresh warm tortillas. Don't worry if you can't pronounce the dishes - we just pointed to them on the menu. You can't go wrong with anything. Kinn, the bartender, mixes up a mean Zombie (remember those?) and a fierce martini. Great service, gorgeous riverfront setting, and great food. Call ahead for reservations though on weekends. Del Alma means food from the soul and it is.

Best food in Corvallis. The menu is diverse and specials are enticing enough to pull you away from just sticking to old menu favorites. The service is solid and the bar is excellent, you can just go up and ask the bartender (also the owner) to make you something tasty and he will turn them out one after another. You can enjoy a meal simply ordering from their tapas menu, which has excellent variety, or get one of their great main courses. Either way you can't go wrong. Prices are on the spendy side but it is well worth the quality of meal that you are getting. Visit and enoy!

My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary dinner at Del Alma and we had a fabulous time. The food was great - not the best I've ever ha but still very very good - and the nouveau Latin style isn't like anything else in town (in fact I think it would be unique in bigger cities, too). My fave part of this meal was the white bean dip and the watermelon/chiffonade salad. Loved the creative house cocktails (get the green acres, it's delish and the garnish is super cute!) and the attentive, friendly and personal service. Only real complaint was the pacing - I felt our courses came out faster than I was ready for them and wish that the staff had kept an eye on how quickly (or slowly) we were eating; I ended up feeling a little rushed.

Delightful. Finally made it here. Mother's weekend at OSU so reservation was for 8:45 pm. Got there a bit early and enjoyed an excellent drink at the bar... simple a Hendricks gin and tonic. All 4 of us had different meals and all were excellent although the buffalo ribs and pork in the banana leaf were the groups favorites. Waiter was friendly, attentive enough without being annoying, and helpful. A wonderful meal. Not cheap but worth the price.

Excellent happy hour here. Wonderful menu, tapas, small plates, exotic cocktails, local beer on tap. They have a happy hour menu, as well as a bar menu. The regular 3 or 4 course dinner looks wonderful too, and we look forward to going back for dinner.

Finally made it to Del Alma for an anniversary dinner. I was looking forward to everything good I'd heard about the place. It was disappointing to say the least. While the atmosphere looked inviting, it was impossible to carry on a conversation between two people. NOT good for a special evening. I ordered off the four-course menu. Have to say the squash bisque was good but it went downhill from there. Avocado, cheese salad was nothing special, although I love avocado so it passed. The main course was crab cake and steak medallion. The steak was just that, a small (tiny) steak. But the crab cake was a huge letdown. It tasted like it had been nuked out of the freezer. Meh.The little steak wasn't enough to carry to carry the main and the kitchen was out of the potato cakes that were supposed to accompany the dish. Mashed potato substitution was nothing special. Dessert was OK but, again, nothing to rave about. My husband had no specific complaints about his salad and steak but said he didn't need to revisit the place. We left as soon as we could to seek a quiet place to enjoy drinks. Bummer to find it only mediocre. Definitely wouldn't take people from out of town.

Get them.

Delicious food, amazing service and on Wednesdays they have special 3-course meals for just $25. Their cocktail sours are also soooo good!

Great place for a date - we had a secluded table on one of the upper tiers, ordered three rounds of tapas to share and split an incredible piece if key lime pie (goes great with the house margarita). Del Alma is exactly the kind of relaxed decadence we look for in a date night restaurant.

The service is always good. The meatball tapas are delicious. Actually, you can't go wrong with any of the tapas. Their filet mignon melts in your mouth! Tuna crudo and ceviche very light and full of flavor.

Love this place! Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. It's where I take out of town guests for something special. My husband and I often go there for our anniversary or other special events too. They also have a great happy hour!

TRY IT!

Delightful staff and one of the best meals I've ever had in Corvallis. Blackened salmon was flaky, tender and delicious. Chorizo salsa on beets tapa was amazing!

  • Jason B.
