Stopped for a beer while town and the bar staff was very friendly and attentive. Didn't eat a meal this time around but we have in the past and the food was very good. We will definately be returning the next time we come through town.

This place could be sooooo much better with so little effort. I have been here three times now and each time my expectations have been met, but only because they were not that high to begin with. Colvin's is in two parts each with it's own entrance. The bar is on the right and the dining room is to the left. I like the bar. It's a step up from the other options in town. The beer selection is interesting even if the prices are higher than their competition. It is a very comfortable place to stop and have a few. Every time I have visited the bartender has been easy to talk to and I have felt well taken care of. The dining room is a basic spartan affair with no thought to atmosphere. The food is not much different. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just be prepared. My last meal was the Homemade Meatloaf. Highly recommended by the staff. It started out with a salad.....I'm sorry....I don't know why they went to the trouble. This was one of those salads that places serve only because they feel they have to.There was no social redeeming value to my little bowl of lettuce. Unfortunately is was a harbinger of what was to follow. The meatloaf came to me as a huge double portion stacked high with a healthy plop of mashed potatoes with the aforementioned covered with a generous flood of brown gravy and believe it or not the star of the show, a freshly made roll. The meatloaf was indeed meaty. But that is as far as i would go. It wasn't bad by any means....just not in the least bit interesting. The potatoes were again basic with no character. And then there was the gravy. My server had assured me that everything on the menu was hand made in house. I have no reason to disbelieve him however, if the gravy was hand made then it was made by the same person who makes the gravy that comes in a can. It was terrible. What I would come back for is...the roll. I have no idea what they did but it was a light, fresh bread tasting of yeast. I held the roll up to my nose and I was transported back into the bakery from which it was born. It was delightful. It pulled apart with perfect resistance, the inside was flaky and warm. It was almost a crime to taint it with butter. Colvin's has a varied menu with lots of promise they just need someone competent in the kitchen to fulfill that promise. I will come back to Colvin's for a beverage and a roll. For food, I'll go elsewhere.

Great food and a super affordable price. Quick service and amazing Smoked Meat specials. I had the Brisket and it was awesome. My wife had a great chicken salad. A great stop along Hwy 30. Cannot beat the price for a date night.

I didn't even know this town existed until we went by today! Enjoyed shrimp basket, Reuben Sandwich and wonderful service. :) I will definitely stop by again...

My mother-in-law lives in Clatskanie, so we come here somewhat often. Colvin's breakfast is good - can't speak for the dinner or lunch, but it's definitely tasty. Service is usually pretty slow because the waitress is usually the bartender for the bar immediately on the other side of the wall. There are definitely a few places to eat in town, but I'd say Colvin's is honestly the best.

This is our "go-to" spot in east county. Colvin's makes consistently good food and we don't have many complaints. But we do have a couple... The chix cordon blu (grilled/crispy chix, ham and Swiss served on a pub roll) and halibut sandwiches comes with nothing slathered on the bun. Just a dry underside. I'd prefer a buttered grilled bun or at least a little dressing of some type. The lettuce and one slice of tomato/ pickle isn't enough to choke down a dry bun. Good g&t, fairly attentive servers.....the smoked prime rib on weekends is tasty and worth the trip. Yep, happy, happy tastebuds!

I went here on my way to Newport, Oregon. It was delish! They are known for their Texas Longhorn Burger. It was a very long drive to Newport (10 hours of non-stop madness!). Even though I watched some movies in the car, it was still boring. Then we found Colvin's Pub and Grill. We went to the grill part of it because me and my sis are too young for the pub. I had the 2x2x2. It was 2 pancakes. 2 eggs (I chose scrambled eggs instead.), 2 sausage links and 2 bacon. I replaced the sausage links with extra bacon cause I like bacon! Overall, it was a very decent meal and it was very good. If you are driving to Newport, you have to go there! We had a very nice waiter named Lacey and she was the best! Anyways, I wish to go there soon.

Because it was Regatta Parade day in Astoria, our circuitous detour took us out of town before we could locate a lunch spot. Since Clatskanie was the next place of any size, we drove into the town center and "discovered" Colvin's Pub & Grill. Not expecting much, my wife ordered the halibut sandwich and I ordered fish and chips. Exploring, I wandered into the adjoining room to find a beautiful bar. Even though I wasn't drinking because we had a drive ahead of us, the bartender poured me a sample of Apocalypse IPA. Back in the dining room we both enjoyed our lunch immensely. The waitress was pleasant and efficient as she tended our needs. Locals stopped in-always a good sign. We paid our tab and drove away.......without my wife's purse, which we discovered once we were about 70 miles away. The manager subsequently mailed the purse to our home in California at his expense. Of course we sent him a check to cover it, but the fact that he trusted us to do so probably speaks more to his character than ours! Needless to say we're giving this establishment a great big thumbs up!!!

We stopped here because we weren't going to make it in time before most reliable kitchens in Astoria closed. Great service here and incredibly fresh halibut. When fish is prepared this carefully, it's memorable. I'm not exaggerating when I claim that the only other time I tasted halibut cooked this perfectly was at Chez Panisse in Berkeley. Amazingly tasty and perfectly cooked. YUM, YUM, YUM!!! Lightly breaded fish to order with a delicious fresh made creamy tartar sauce. VERY glad we stopped. Very good price for freshly caught, juicy and flaky halibut. Salad was boring iceberg lettuce, but other than that no disappointments. Better than most places in Astoria. We'll probably stop here on purpose next time we drive to the coast.

The pub had been recommended by a local and we were not disappointed. The food was tasty, the atmosphere calm and friendly, until a loud patron came in and drove all the other customers out with her shrill voice. Would gladly return for more if only we lived nearby.
