Oh Great Harvest, how much you have helped keep this poor student survive with your delicious breads, sweet treats, and generous free slices of bread, you will never know. I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. While I used to rarely buy things, they always were kind enough to give me free slices and sometimes more. They have some great breads, the top five for me being garlic cheddar, whole grain gusto, honey whole wheat, dakota whole wheat and cinnamon swirl. They have a mesmerizing selection to choose from and use very basic, quality ingredients and no preservatives. There is no cutting corners here when it comes to quality, that is for sure. They make some great (and huge) sandwiches, the best cinnamon rolls around and serve stumptown. Doesn't get much better than this. On top of the great food, they have some of the friendliest, most genuine employees around. You won't get any attitude here, as they are all about customer service, and getting things done fast and accurately. The place does get extremely busy and can get a bit hectic during the rush, and I would like to see some better organization when it comes to managing the lines. It can be a bit confusing and overwhelming, especially if you haven't been here before, but the food and the service and awesome employees are worth it. It can be a bit pricey compared to store bread, but it is well worth it

wow, I didn't expect every item I ordered to be a home run, but it was so. the staff is very friendly and helpful with samples. -jalapeno cheese cornbread - hunks of melted cheese in grainy cornbread? yum. -cinnamon roll - light cinnamon flavor which allows the amazing pastry flavor to come through -tillamook pepperoni breadstick - garlicky, + thin tasty pepperoni I'm hoping to find a closer location to buy all of my bread from.

These people have been so helpful every time I have slammed them with an order of 15 box lunches over the past three years. They have dense and well-crafted bread of many different flavors, gigantic cookies and a super friendly and flexible group of stars behind the counter. They don't deliver, but one time one of their people actually got in her own car and drove out to our office after I had already left and realized I'd missed a bagful. Unbelievably sweet. I can't say anything about other Great Harvests, because these are all independent franchises, but the owners of this one go out of their way to get you to return, with bread specials, punch cards, free slices and selective staffing choices.

Love that they give bread and desert samples while you wait in line. The tuna sandwich was one of the best I've had. LOVED the jalapeno cheddar cornbread bread. Yum.

Great fresh breads, a health-conscious sandwich, and a free buttery sample to clog your arteries with Stumptown coffee! If the thick tasty breads won't do it, come for the great smiley service. They won't disappoint!

Carb lovers unite! This place has all things carby, with a mean array of all things bready. I have always liked the Harvest Bread chain and this location is certainly no exception. The best time for me to head out here is during the morning when their batches are the most fresh. The aroma is amazing during this time and the sandwiches / rolls / muffins taste as good as they smell. While I remain a fan of the food, I haven't always been a fan of their service, especially this location. Depending on how busy it is, some of the ladies behind the counter can be a tad pushy. I know its part of lunch time rush, but it's not always necessary. Plus, the prices aren't necessary a deal, unless if a near $10 meal (which includes a drink, chips, and a sandwich) is worth the trouble. Recommended is their breakfast rolls, which contain a mix of peppers, cheese, eggs, and hashbrowns, just enough to satisfy most breakfast lovers.

I am joining the 5 star club for Great Harvest! Just saying, it is about time someone made a decent cinnamon bread with OUT raisins!!! GH's cinnamon burst bread is so good, it should have a 12 step program for it. And I don't even like bread!

    (5)
  • Ellen D.

The bread is overpriced. When I ordered soup it did not taste fresh. I was disappointed when they didn't offer to get me a new soup after I asked politely. I would not recommend getting your lunch or bread from here.

My wife and I have loved every experience that we have had here. The staff, the service, and the breads are extraordinary. I highly recommend visiting this location.

If you appreciate carbs, which I do... very much so. Then, YOU, are in luck! This is THE place to go. Fresh butter and a free slice to savor, greet you the second you walk in the door. Even better, they encourage you to try everything they have available to sample! WARNING: It is filling. So, pace yourself. I swear by the Honey Wheat, Apple Cinnamon and Garlic Cheese. Every loaf is delicious and fresh! In fact, my Apple Cinnamon was too warm to bag when I brought it home today. YUM!!! Even better is the service! Everyone is smiling and engaging! The staff is happy you are there and they WANT to help you. They work as an integrated team... smoothly and together. I was so impressed! It was an amazing experience from start to finish! Can't wait to go back and get my fix!

The Carbo-holic in me has to give this place 5 Stars! I have cravings for thier Sunrise Roll which is stuffed with bacon, hasbrowns and cheese YUM! It's pretty filling, split this with mom and I it was the perfect amount for a light breakfast. What I adore about Great Harvest is that everything is always very fresh and the smell of all that fresh baked goods draws you in! I'm also a big fan of thier snickerdoodles, pizza bread sticks and cinnamon bread. They also always have seasonal items, don't miss the pumpkin bread!

Was contacted by the owners after emailing them about our experience and, 'Wow!' what a positive response! They have straightened things out and have invited us back and are taking care of the concerns we raised. We couldn't be happier about the response we received and would definitely recommend Great Harvest Bread Company in the future!

Great food with the built-in entertainment of pigeons dodging cars and pedestrians! Little do they know that we're fattening them up for Thanksgiving.

Every time that I have been in here (except the other morning, but I'll chalk that off to her not being awake yet) the staff has been super friendly, helpful and cheerful - all the things that you want when you're spending your hard-earned cash on a sandwich, some chips and a cookie. The box lunch is $8.50 and not worth it unless you like sun chips and carrots, which I do not. It's a better idea to just go for the $6.50 sandwich and follow that up with a $1.45 cookie... most of the time I just go for the 1/2 sandwich, and no cookie - but I'm boring, what can I say? Today I had the BLT, and let me tell you - holy bacon, batman! Plus, it's on the garlic cheese bread... wooohhh... I think that I just ate all my day's calories in one meal - worth it, for sure when I followed it up with an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie that is chock-full of oil/butter. I think that I feel the artery that goes to my heart clogging as I type... oops, nope, that's just heart burn. I have had the morning roll that has the egg, hash browns, and other sinful things - awesome, but again with the arteries. The muffins are good - but a little too grainy... and sometimes you just want some fat in your muffin (ugh to their fat-free muffins). But overall pretty good muffin - and for your vegans out there... there's egg in there! They are really quick about getting your food out to you... word of advice though - if they ask if you want your cookie in with your box lunch, the answer is no. We've said yes before and walked out of there without the cookie - and what good is that? It's so hectic in here most of the time that I won't blame the employees for that folly... I'll blame my friend that didn't check his lunch box prior to walking out of there. Come on, man... everyone knows that you check for the good stuff prior to walking off with you take-out!

This is one of my favorite places to drop into. The breads are always a winner and the staff are soooo helpful! I had a simple turkey sandwich on one of the grain breads that made it a perfect sandwich. i always buy the breads and love the samples...with real butter! Exceptional staff!

    (5)
  • Jack D.

They give huge samples of their delicious bread with butter, their deli sandwiches are yummy, and the coffee is hot and fresh! Also, the employees here are friendly and efficient!

  • Mark L.

Probably the best service I've had a counter-service restaurant in my life. My sandwich was very good, but not amazing; probably 4 stars on that part. I need a 4.5 star option.

  • Jeri L.

I love love love Great Harvest. The staff is happy and friendly. I ordered a honey mustard ham sandwich and it's delicious. They give you a nice large slice of bread as a sample. I had the cinnamon swirl with some butter. I'll have to go back for a loaf later in the week when I'll be home to enjoy it.

    (5)
  • Bethany L.

The best cinnamon bread! Lightly toasted with butter, and a coffee, makes for a great snack. I love the wheat bread too, we have food allergies so finding a wholesome bread without dairy has been a challenge. Here I found bread that only has five ingredients, and no dairy. My son can have toast and sandwiches now, and I can breathe easy knowing he's eating well. My only drawback is that it's a bit on the expensive side for bread, at least for our household. But well worth the money!

  • Nicole G.

Never been to a bad great harvest! Love this place. Always makes amazing sandwiches! Good drinks. Always free slice of bread. Sweetest staff. Nice fresh bread! LOVE!

    (5)
  • Kathryn K.

They have the best bread goods and sandwiches. I went for breakfast one morning and ended up getting the turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce. The bread was super moist and dense. The quality of the breads are outstanding and the prices reflect that. Almost 8 dollars for a loaf of garlic cheese bread is a little much for me. I know its fresh and made with healthy ingredients so you pay for what you get. Maybe next time I will be able to get one. I would definitely suggest checking them out for the sandwiches so tasty.

    (4)
  • Katherine R.

Some of the best bread you'll ever have, in my opinion. I never miss an opportunity to stop in when I'm nearby and they're open.

  • Bernadette M.

I dont really care about bread until I discovered this place! Its bread heaven! the staff is the best, nicest, and they really make sure you come out with a smile on your face. My favorites are the Red, White & Blue, Caramel Apple, Garlic & Cheese, and Spinach & Feta Bread. For sandwiches I like the Chipoltle Chicken and the Vegetarian. You cant go wrong at this place!

    (5)
  • Andrea C.

it really is just so good. friendly, fast, so kind is what I would describe the service. the bread, sandwiches, cookies all to die for. yum!

Every time I visit Clackamas, I stop by their Great Harvest. While the bread tastes good at every Great Harvest I've been to, it's the atmosphere that makes this one the best. The employees are all so nice and you can tell that they really love working there. I've never seen anyone unhappy. And of course, who can forget about the delicious, thick slices of bread they give you while waiting in line? Clackamas Great Harvest should definitely be on your list of places to try.

Once upon a time, I only stopped into Great Harvest (and this was back in Denver) because I was super broke, and the free slice was lunch. Sometimes I would change my shirt or re-do my hair and go back into the same shop and scam another slice. I'm sure my half-assed "disguises" didn't fool anyone, but I'm sure they don't care anyway- those people always seem thrilled to hand out the free bread, am I right here? Fast forward many years, and I'm still broke, but responsible for buying my own lunch once in a while. I've been to this location of Great Harvest probably 6-8 times, and have been consistently pleased with the service especially... it's like they staff that place with the Glee Club from the local HS- those gals are beyond chipper, and quick, to boot! They had my whole order ready in about 9 seconds. Pleasantries aside, Great Harvest is a fine place to buy breads, a couple of bucks more than the grocery store, sure, but made fresh in the store, with all-natural ingredients, good-for-you whole grains, and a healthy dose of glee-club cheer. Lunch is pretty standard sandwiches and soups- build your own or choose from their signature sandwich menu, and they usually have 2 soups available daily. Yesterday, I had a 1/2 veggie (which was plenty... it was about 6 inches tall, crammed with fillings) on their fabulous white bread and a cup of tomato bisque (not so good... chalky?). While the soup was a downer, the sandwich was excellent, and ran me about $7 for both. Most sammies are $6.75, box lunch (add carrots, cookie, and Sun Chips) is $8.75. I believe each Great Harvest is a franchise, so I can't speak for the other locations around Portland, but this one is a pleasure to stop into, their service rocks, and their goods are delicious. They've got seasonal specials, too- September is all things pumpkin. Great Harvest makes great bread, and turns out... a pretty great lunch, too.

Best Customer service I have had in a long time. My sandwich was fantastic, the cookies tasty and the bread was very flavorful. You will do yourself a favor by stopping by.

I loved this place, I came just to get half a sandwich for lunch, and ended up buying a bunch of bread to take home. The Dakota is amazing, whole wheat based with pumpkin seeds and more. The apple cinnamon was delicious too. I think that would be great for french toast or even bread pudding. I am getting ideas. I think I have to go back soon for more.

  • Rachel D.

Great customer service! The people working here are very welcoming and very helpful! Tip#1: Defiantly try the bread sample-You may not want to because of low carb thing, but it's really good!

  • Melissa P.

Remember when Great Harvest was all new and cool 8 or 9 years ago? I'd wander in, poor ass, wanting only a thick slice of whatever to slather with tablespoons of butter and honey for lunch. The wooden altar of butter, crumbs, and honey sticky with drippings and smears, the utensils with a fine sheen of buttery fingerprints. Then with no intention of buying anything, I'd toss on my invisibility cloak and lurk out. With a paycheck now I generally buy a cinnamon roll, but the desire for a free (although smaller) slice is quite enticing. The sandwiches are nothing special. The bread itself is alright, but with the advent of New Seaons/Whole Foods/FreshNatureGoodForYouExpensive stores, you can get good if not tastier bread closer to home.

Great place to carb up! The team is fantastic!

  • Levi L.

Incredible bread- but a little too spendy. I love the free slice though- that's always good. I just wish a loaf of bread here wasn't so much. Honey wheat is good here and the cheesy bread is good...very good!!!

  • Shad L.

Sample the bread, take in the great aroma, and build a great sandwich. Great place to go for a tasty sandwich on freshly baked bread.

The only thing I can say that is at all negative about this place is that it costs around $6 to $7 for a loaf of bread. That being said, it is worth every penny! When you walk in the door they promptly greet you and give you a free slice of bread. Of course you are first hit with the smells of freshly baked bread and cookies. The staff is always happy and energetic and they all seem to be 100% content with their job. I usually go there for lunch and get 1 of their 5 or 6 choices of a sandwich. You can get a half sandwich and sunchips or carrots for around $5 and the sandwich is plenty big. If you want to really splurge you can get one of their amazing cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing. It's probably about 1200 calories but I went to the gym today right? haha They always have a variety of bread and it changes from time to time. You can't get bread like this in very many places unless you go overseas! Great job Great Harvest!!!

Fun atmosphere and friendly people! My kids enjoy going in and getting their large sample of fresh baked bread (we get to choose from 5 or 6 different kinds). I love their sandwiches! Made on fresh bread and made to order! Everything is so fresh and yummy! I'm sure I couldn't ever be disappointed!

This location is VERY busy at lunch time. So just be ready for that if you go around lunch time. Luckily the line moves pretty fast. This also seems to be a go to spot for stay at home mom's with kids. The free samples are of course awesome. I highly recommend their breakfast though. Their cinnamon rolls are amazing and come with frosting on the side. Way better than the large cinnamon roll chain at the mall. They also sell these sunshine rolls that are crazy good. Eggs, bacon, hash browns and cheese, all roll up in bread just like a cinnamon roll. They are ginormous as well. So you will be very happy and full! Also a tip, watch out for the birds around here. They are not afraid of people or even cars. Try not to run any over.

Great Harvest Bread in the Clackamas Promenade has been at that location since the nineties. This was my first experience years ago with Great Harvest Bread. When you walk in you get a free slice of their daily choices of the day along with some butter. Who doesn't love fresh baked bread and butter??!! Most everything there is delicious. From all the different breads; cookies and their amazing scones. Marionberry scones are my favorite! They also make great sandwiches. When you have a delicious canvas to build from it is easy to make the sandwiches tasty. I have been to other locations and they were good but this location is my favorite. Not only for all the delicious baked goods but the warm friendly service. The people that work there seem to really enjoy their jobs and the combination of delicious products and people enjoying making the products is a perfect recipe for a great customer experience.

Dear Great Harvest Bread Co. Clackamas, OR: Today I had my day-date with my FAVORITE 3 year old boy and You gave us 3 great lessons today: 1. You schooled us on the fine art of making beautiful breads 2. You gave us a lesson on generosity by offering us free bread & scone samples (WHICH WERE DELICIOUS!) 3. By treating the homeless man (who came into your storefront) like he was any other customer, you gave us a lesson on HUMANKIND - to be both (HUMAN and KIND). Thank You for your service and lessons today!! Sincerely, Customer For Life

This place has been open ever since I was in 6th Grade. We have been coming here for snacks and bread for a long time and continue to drop in for delicious bread. Even when we are just shopping around the area, we love to stop by for free slices of their daily choices with butter. SO GOOD. I think the main reason we always come back is because of their great customer service. Always smiling and always accommodating. I really hope that never changes. Love it here!

The Marion berry rhubarb is where it's at!This place is amazing, and literally everything is delicious! The people working there have great attitudes and aren't put out to put in a special order for you.

I went to great harvest bread based on recommendations from friends. The bread is good and they have generous samples. It is a lot heavier than other brands I've tried. I will say it is a little bit expensive at eight dollars a loaf. I got a sample of the garlic cheese loaf which was delicious, but wound up buying the white bread at 6 dollars a loaf. It actually tastes very good but it smells a little off. I can't quite put my finger on it, I'm not sure if it smells moldy or stale and even though it's good it's kind of bothering me. I would probably giving a 3.5 but there is no 3.5 rating so I'm going to give it a three. Maybe next time I'll try the sandwiches and see how they rate...

  • Ruth S.

Dropped in for breakfast and was cheerfully greeted with offers of a free slice of bread. Enjoyed a Chipotle Turkey sandwich on fresh, delicious bread and a frosted cinnamon roll. The option of carrots with the sandwich, beside the usual chips option, was a refreshing change. Unfortunately, there is no seating with tables to enjoy the food inside, only a couple of waiting benches indoors and 2 tables outdoors.

This place's customer service is outstanding! I was trying to Locate a couple loaves of the spinach feta bread, for weeks at another Portland area location. They were less than helpful. I called this location, which is further than I wanted to travel, but they were SO nice and helpful on the phone, they had what I needed, and set it aside for me! They were equally awesome when I got into the shop. They were amazing and wonderful! I don't go to Clackamas often, but if I need bread, this is my place! Keep it up! And THANK YOU!!!

I absolutely love this place. Such friendly workers. Samples are always HUGE- and me love some gooood yummy samples. Breads are always full of flavor My favorite is the Red, White and Blue. SOOO GOOOOD.

  • Grace S.

always frresh bread. This place is dangerous!!! They always have free samples so you can try before you buy. Different locations vary with how helpful the staff is but I do not think they should be graded down for minor things.

  • Stephanie H.

I've been here twice before and was happy with my customer service both times. Today I came in for a coffee mid shopping trip and was so impressed with my barista/cashier, Jessica. Not only was she totally sweet and friendly, she helped clean up a huge mess I had made, with a smile:) Thanks girl, my coffee was delicious!

  • Amanda W.

Not only is the food excellent (best turkey sami ever) but the service is fantastic. I've eaten here over 50 times in the 4 years I've lived over her and I've never had bad or even average service. Everyone working here is delightful. The jalapeño corn bread and the feta bread are AMAZING.

    (5)
  • K U.

The customer service here is amazing. The bread is a little bit more on the expensive side (compared to bread from Fred Meyers), but it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. They also give you a huge slice of bread as a sample when you buy something. The staff is always smiling and welcoming.

    (5)
  • Jessica S.

Long wait today, which I would be okay with, except when I finally got my sandwich they really skimped on the turkey. For ordering the $8.00 turkey Cobb I was really disappointed.

Forget Disneyland! The happiest people on earth are at the Great Harvest in the Clackamas Promenade! You will not find friendlier more eager to help you staff anywhere! And the bread is to die for--well worth the carbs!

  • Alyse H.

I realize that I am merely adding to the plethora of five-star ratings for this place, but it has to be done. Whenever I'm staying across the street at the Monarch hotel, I walk over and order myself a sandwich made with their delicious honey wheat bread, Tillamook cheeses, and fresh deli meat. There is nothing out of the ordinary about their sandwiches, but the combo of all their fresh ingredients creates a delightful lunch concoction. Everyone who works at this location is so friendly and helpful. I love the free slice of bread just for stopping in. I'm a HUGE fan!!

    (5)
  • Connie C.

Been coming here for years and I love their products and they have such friendly service. Maybe it's just this Clackamas location that has great service though because I've been to one in Montana as well and it was meh. Looking forward to many more years of visiting this location!

  • P V.

Found myself at Clackamas Town Center so stopped by to pick up a turkey sandwich on their famously good bread. They offer a free slice from a selection of breads. You can take that and go or be thankful and actually buy something. Turkey sandwich wasn't anything spectacular but it was good and came with a side of chips for about $7. Given what fast food costs these days, I'd rather stop by here for a sandwich if I'm in the area and hungry. Plus the workers here are so nice!

    (5)
  • Marissa G.

This Great Harvest is ALWAYS hoppin'! I love the friendly staff here, and I love the samples. They always have fresh bread I swear! Plus, they always donate great raffle baskets!

  • Francis L.

Went here for bread today, because my neighbor had given my husband and I some. It was the cinnamon swirl and it was sooo good so we bought some, and they had one called cranberry white chocolate so I got one of those, having never been here before they were super nice and there was a girl slicing bread who asked me if I wanted a piece and I said "sure" she cut this huge piece of Dakota bread and handed it to me and my eyes grew wide and I asked her how much for the slice, she said "nothing,it's a sample?" I was in the holy cow mindset.....the slice was huge. I put some of this butter rum jam on it, it was kind of gritty with sugar but it was good, I loved the Dakota bread and I will definitely be back:-)

  • Jenny Y.

This store has the friendliest workers! The feel of this store is sooooo different than the one in South Pasadena, CA. The cheese sticks are amazing when heated up on the pan so that the cheese is a bit crunchy =d Great place to grab a bite while you're shopping =d

  • Michael B.

Had a great Cobb sandwich here on their freshly baked whole wheat and honey bread, busy place. If it were my restaurant I would get rid of the tables with packaged cookie and breads to make room for a little seating. There are 2 benches to sit on and eat inside (no tables) and 2 small tables outside. I bet they would have more return customers with more seating. The fresh breads looked and smelled wonderful.

I can't say enough how great Harvest Bread Company is! Great prices and great food! Their Thanksgiving stuffing bread is to die for! Robin the owner is an amazing gal! She runs a great business and has an outstanding staff!
