Every vacation I take has at least one amazing meal. This was it! Corned beef hash was the special, and special it was. Possibly the best breakfast I have ever had. You cannot come to the wine country southwest of Portland and not eat here. Trust me.
Awesome place to get some made to order great food. My daughter got some fresh biscuits and sausage. I got the special: Carlton Bakery brioche French toast with Caramelized bananas and crispy bacon. We brought the dogs to sit outside and enjoy breakfast, but it was too stormy. Love how they have this place set up like a park and so welcoming.
My girlfriend introduced me to this place and I must say that I will make a point to come here every time I am in wine country. This was by far one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have had and hands down the absolute best bacon I have tasted. Do yourself a favor and try this place out.

I'll preface this by saying that my husband and I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, so consider that when you see the 5 stars, but I must say I can't imagine we could have had a better experience anywhere else. The innkeepers, Rosalyn and Mike, keep a lovely bed and breakfast in a perfect location for touring Willamette Valley. We stayed in the Lavender Room which was HUGE and felt very private (something we didn't expect from a B&B). The bed was very comfortable, the room decor was quaint, and the room had multiple sitting areas for lounging between wine tastings. Additionally we had a huge jacuzzi tub and separate standing shower plus two sinks - very luxurious compared to the hotels we had been staying at earlier on our vacation. In terms of location, Carlton is only about 3 blocks in total, and has just a few restaurants, and the Thompson House is pretty much at the center of it all. Stay two nights and walk to Cana's Feast and Cuvee - you'll have the best meals! Driving to the wineries was a breeze, and it was lovely to wake up to a delicious home cooked breakfast every morning. We had a fantastic time, and if we ever find ourselves in Willamette Valley again, we'll definitely be staying at the Thompson House.
LOVELY B & B This is a very nice little B & B in the heart of Oregon's Willamette Valley wine country. It's a great location from which to explore the area. The Inn itself is pleasantly hosted by Mike & Roselyn. The rooms are large and "well appointed." Point, point, point. :) Breakfast is also excellent. So far, we've always had fruit plus either French toast, a pancake or an omelette. Warning to coffee lovers, like me: the earliest breakfast is 8:30 and coffee is not available prior to that time. There is none, for example, in the room.
We just returned from a week-end at the House and it was fantastic, no complaints. Mike and Roselyn were great host/hostess. Both breakfasts were near perfect. The only minor negative comment I would make is the coffee and that came down to personal taste. We're somewhat Starbuck's French Roast snobs. We really loved their "Greeter Cat". Well, he's really not their cat. He's the neighbors cat, but he sure is friendly. All in all, we'd recommend the R.R. Thompson House and I'm pretty sure we'll be back someday.

The Horse Radish

Great sandwiches but not real fast.
This was our first visit to the horse radish and all we can say is WOWZA! We had one ham and cheese sandwich with the fig sauce and one without. Both were excellent. The quiche served with bacon was delicious! The salad was very fresh and the bleu cheese dressing was amazing. THEN we had dessert. Oh my god. The chocolate cake - superb. The cheese cake was very good and the crem Brule was also delicious. But the chocolate cake..... :) :) I ordered a decaf with cream to balance out the dessert. It came in a French press and was excellent. Made 2 full cups. The whole experience was nothing but GREAT and we will definitely be going back! I wouldn't say the menu is geared towards kids which is fine. There was a baby there and he was very happy and very well attended by his parents. Actually there was a TV but happily the volume was either off or very low. Gotta love Yelp cuz that's how we found this place.
Someone recommended this place to us because we wanted to find some picnic food. The lady at the front cash register was so nice and passionate about helping us find the perfect things to eat. We got the pastrami sandwich which was probably the best sandwich I have ever tasted in my life! We also got a cheese plate and the butterscotch oatmeal cookie. Everything was delicious!

Farmer’s Plate & Pantry

Yet another new and welcomed restaurant opens in Carlton! Farmer's Plate and Pantry serves a menu of casual but nicely thought out items, emphasizing local ingredients. Including breakfast. Very fresh, very tasty. I've been for lunch, menu of sandwiches, pizzas, soups. Homemade potato chips are to die for, especially when they're sprinkled with blue cheese powder! The "pantry" part of the name refers to shelves and coolers of some of their own items (pickles, pizza dough) as well as other interesting local ingredients (like the aforementioned blue cheese powder). In the future, they've said they'll do classes/workshops, etc. and lots of other interesting stuff. Definitely worth a visit when in Carlton. They've just open, I *think* they're open Friday-Monday, don't know if that will expand and if so when... They're in the spot of the former Cielo Blu --- but they've really opened up the space, it is now bright, airy, and cheerful!
Wow talk about a shining gem in a other wise drab and dreary area to grab a great lunch/dinner after touring the excellent sorounding wineries. I had the calamari for an appetizer. You could tell it was fresh and not the pre frozen crap that gets thrown out there. For a drink i ordered a mohito that was made from their house fresh mint. A lot of times mohitos are too sweet and artificial.. This was right on point. Ordered the Salmon BLT for entrée and it was amazing!!! Staff and owners very welcoming and professional. Would recommend this place to anyone who's is looking for a great place to eat after a day at the local wineries.
The real winner is the salmon BLT. Scrumptios. Parmesan potato chips and pulled pork are great as well. Service is very friendly!

We eat here every Memorial Day weekend when we come out to do wine tasting. It never disappoints! The specials are always a great choice--we really enjoyed the apricot tart on this last visit. The french fries are also really dangerous! Owner/chef has a unique personality, but that is part of the charm. Definitely a must try!
Charming little French bistro in town! Started with mushrooms in the most delicious sauce. I didn't want to share. Lick the plate good! And great clams. Husband got the rib eye which came with fries. He noted they were the best outside or Brussels! Nearly the perfect fry! I had the pork loin. Delish! Gilbert, chef, server, maitre d. Was lovely as well. Great meal!
charming for sure! oysters, if on the menu, nuff said. Order 2 or 3 of those. The rest of food is OK but not 4 or 5 star ratings.
