Hey, this place is easily a solid 4-Stars! Had the Carne Asada with Prawns and Mushrooms. WOW! The Carne Asada wa probably the best, even a little better than my favorite Mexican place in Woodburn. A touch thicker, cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The Prawns and Mushrooms were equally great and cooked just right. The topper? They put drawn butter with spices in it on the plate. The rice, beans and Pico Degio (sic?), were all good. The place, including the restroom, were clean and the service was first rate. This is a hidden gem worth getting to and I plan on going back more sooner than later. Oh, Yes, the kids menu on Sunday is like $.99 !!

This is a nice place located off the main highway through Canby in a strip mall and has a wide variety of Mexican dishes including several vegetarian options. I always order the gallo vegetarian burrito which has rice, beans and vegetables in a gigantic burrito smothered with chile sauce. I order it without the cheese to make it a really good vegan dish. The service is great. The only thing I would improve is turning up the music a little. It was so low we couldn't hear it, and it would make the atmosphere better in my opinion. We'll definitely go back.

One of my favorite places. Good food for good prices. Friendly service and nice atmosphere! The Chili Colorado is one of my favorite dishes but I have never been disappointed with anything I've ordered!

Love this place. The brothers that own it are some of the nicest guys I've met in a restaurant setting. Excellent margaritas, tortillia soup is the best i've had, great salsa, flank steak is perfect. Can't be beat for Canby; price, service and atmosphere is 5 *!

My favorite Mexican Restaurant! Delicious food, generous portions and really friendly staff. We are always greeted with "Hello Amigios!" When we arrive. My favorite thing is the chicken fajitas but also recommend the combo dinners, quesadillas, taco salad. Portions are huge so we usually have a lot of leftovers for another meal- yum!

Meh food. Good service. Good atmosphere. I rarely come here--maybe five times in the last 10 years. Some of my friends rave about it and come here at three times a month. I've never found anything on the menu to like enough to order again. Part of the problem is that the beans lack the depth and flavor that I rely on in Mexican food. Still, the staff is friendly and delivers consistently good service. An average meal here can still feel pretty good, compared to an average meal with lackluster (aka McMenamins) service.

I want to give this place 4 stars so bad, but it's more of a 3.5 with bonus points for being exactly what my friend and I needed at the time. The scene opens on a beautiful day. Sun is shining, sky is blue, the dahlia festival is in full swing. Two women (myself and my friend) decide to take a trip out to see the flowers then decide to stop in town for dinner so they don't die of starvation. Enter parking lot boy, who recommends "this Mexican place" near blah-de-blah. He then proceeds to give the longest most confusing directions ever. We could not follow past the third or fourth step. Ladies: Uh, thanks! (to each other) We'll figure it out. Cut to 1-1.5 hours later when we finally find the $%*#@^% place. It wasn't busy, the waiter was there right away being super friendly and taking our margarita order while we looked over the menu. Standard fare of the Mexican restaurant variety. Not just tacos and burritos. I think I ended up with a taco and chile relleno. Taco was tasty but hard to eat because the tortilla was falling apart. Chile relleno was everything I had hoped it would be and filed with hot cheesy goodness. The beans and rice were also exactly what I wanted them to be, nothing gourmet, just the standard kind you find at those kind of places. That's why I ended up giving the place 3 stars. Great experience, great food, but I wouldn't want to lead anyone to think it's more than just the standard type of Mexican restaurant. However, that is sometimes exactly what you want. Overall I left full, happy, would definitely come back, and have had a craving for more beans and rice since we were there.

The service was good, but the food was very generic! I was craving good salsa and guacamole, both were disappointing. The salsa was watery, with only a few chunks of onion, and the guacamole tasted very bland and not very fresh. They didn't serve pork, which I thought was weird, so I ordered chicken tacos, a bit dry, but huge servings sizes, and ample chicken in my taco. The tortillas were again generic. Average price to eat there was $15 per person with a drink.

This was a better place tobeat before they changed the prices. The food is average not good not bad just average. Service is usually really good. Salsa in nothing to write home about. If its not on the menu dont ask if they can do this or that. Tried ordering two chicken tacos al a cart and was told they only come in a meal. Long story short I spent $8:00 for 2 average tacos. Will probably be back because it is local and easy.

Very, VERY bueno. We were visiting from Coos Bay and discovered this gem. The service was excellente and the food was just wonderful. Didn't take the time to look for other Mexican restaurants after going there as we felt like we hit the jackpot! We didn't order fancy drinks.

I love this place. Now that said... some might say you sort of have to know what to order to get the best experience. I recommend the large chicken plates (pollo al la crema -or- pollo mexican style) We have tried a variety of things off the menu and I haven't found anything "bad" but like any place, some things are awesome while other things are just okay. Also, we are very friendly with the staff. We usually get Jesus as our waiter and he remembers us each time. He is happy to see return customers and treats you extra nice when you do. They make quite a good Cadillac Margarita along with the Cazuela and Loco which are both very good, especially when the staff knows your a regular *wink* *wink*

The service was really good and the food tasted okay. However; I got the taco salad and it was beyond greasy. I had a pool of grease on my plate and using my fork was able to squeeze more grease out. My parents food didn't seem as greasy though and they liked it. But; even then the food did taste really well and there was large portions. I will probably be back.

we used to eat here quite often, until they changed menu and food, the menus are from a different restaurant due to half of the items on it they dont even offer, kind of weird, food comes out within 5 mins of ordering so most of it is probably pre cooked. salsa not so good , watery, chips are stale most of the time so we usually dont eat them. they do give you a ton of food at a fair price, just have to ask if they have it or ask for a old menu.

First visit. Totally worth coming back. Clean, courteous, good dishes, good portions, good margarita. Very solid.

First bowl of chips were stale, replacement bowl of chips were 50/50 stale to ok. The food was at best average Americanized Mexican food. I was hoping for something a little more authentic. Just a little. Beyond being covered in sauce and cheese, the cheese in the center of my enchilada was not melted. it was just shredded cheddar. I don;t see a reason to return here. I will keep looking.

Wonderful family oriented Mexican food. The restaurant atmosphere is warm and inviting. We have going there for almost 8 years and have never been disappointed. I would definitely recommend this to anybody who visits canby.

Food is excellent but has very large portions. Staff and server were very helpful and efficient. I appreciate the staff's concern with their customers' well being.

Food average at best... Drinks BAD!!!! We ordered "top shelf" Cadillac Margaritas and was told by waitress it was $5.95, (Price was actually $7.75) plus she said a shot on the side was $3.00.(price was $5.50)..So my margarita was actually $13.25. It was Premixed and artificial. Like Gatoraid. Anyone who thinks these drinks are good, should re-think their drink knowledge. After our meal, the waitress said, "only the non-alcoholic Margaritas are $5.95" That's great!! Who wants a NON alcoholic Margarita??? That's insane. The chicken was decent, so I can't complain about that, but the food came out WAY too Fast, like it was sitting out back under a heat lamp. We are never going back, and it's sad... There are an abundance of Mexican restaurants to try. F

Los Dorados is a strip mall restaurant with the most wonderful tropical theme. Piñatas hang from the ceiling and the walls are decorated with paintings of parrots and the beach. Coming in from the Canby rain into this warmth is refreshing indeed. The warmth extends to the staff. They are as pleasant, friendly, and attentive as can be. The menu is reminiscent of so many Mexican eateries with various combinations and regional Mexican specialties. However, that's where the similarity ends! Los Dorados makes their own corn masa and to say that their tortillas are delicious is the understatement of the year. Their sauces are outstanding and pack the correct amount of heat without being painful. The plating at Los Dorados is superb. One of my pet peeves is Mexican food that fuses into a mess of rice, beans, and cheese. Los Dorados conquers that problem by putting condiments (onions, cilantro, etc.) and sauces in separate bowls. Mexican fast food restaurants take note! On our visit we sampled the chicken enchiladas, Tacos Al Pastor, and the bacon wrapped shrimp. All three dishes were outstanding. The Tacos Al Pastor was the best version of this dish I have ever had. Delicious barbecued pork in a two doubled handmade corn tortillas. The bacon wrapped shrimp was so tasty that it was brought home in a box to be savored. Oregon's Willamette Valley is home to so many magnificent Mexican restaurants. Los Dorados should be on anyone's list of outstanding Mexican eateries. Delicious food, warm atmosphere, and friendly service. That's Los Dorados!

I don't know how you could rate this under 4 or 5 stars. The place is clean, the staff is attentive and friendly , very nice people....the food is excellent! I have never had a bad meal there even when every seat is full, they remain friendly, and very aware of you and your drink and dining needs. My husband has their drinks and never a complaint. We have been going here for about 7 years now and I wouldn't go any where else for Mexican food. Maybe the people in Portland don't realize what great food and service is!

The food here is very good, the service is very good. happens to always have the same waiter. Weird but whatever. But I rate my Mexican restaurants based on their salsa. And really the only reason I'm giving them a 3 star, is because of the above. They are sub standard when it comes to there salsa. Basically, red water with some ingredients in it.. Its llike it was made in NY. If you want good food, great service, and good environment... Great place to visit. But if your after the chips and salsa... Meh, skip it. BtW, the Super Nachos are Fab!!

Pleasantly surprised! That describes how I feel about this mexican eatery. My boyfriend and I ordered the Mixed Fajita sizzling platter which came with rice and salad on the side, as well as tortillas... very tasty and very filling. Chips and salsa were on the house and quite tasty although the chips were a little too thick for my liking. We also ordered the Flautas which are my absolute favorite, we got it with chicken and it definitely didn't disappoint. All in all, this place was a good find, if ever in the area again, I wouldn't mind eating here. Service was friendly and food was good, not amazing (I'm spoiled from all the CA mexican eateries) but good. One thing I like about this place is the fact that you don't feel bloated and fat after eating mexican food and we also brought home left overs for dinner! That's always a plus :)

Yelp, you really let us down with this one, We had high expectations for this place and were really disappointed, especially with the drinks, which were weak and tasted like a bad Sport drink. The food was average, depending on an abundance of melted cheese to hide an otherwise undistinguished Tex Mex offering. We would have overlooked a lot of this had we not been cheated on the bill. There were no prices on the drinks and when we inquired, we were quoted one price by our waitress, only to have the prices appear substantially higher on the bill. When we pointed this out, they made no apology for the overcharge. We left, feeling like we had just been hornswaggled and disappointed.

Food and atmosphere are four stars. Service (at least when seated in the back room) is only two sadly. The staff is friendly enough but never around. I have been there a few times and I think it's worth going to, just don't have too high of an expectation when you get there.

My favorite Mexican ever. Great carne asada, try the camarones apretelados, (bacon wrapped shrimp with cheese on top) OMG. Muy especial es the muy bestest ever, and the tortilla soup I would agree with the other reviewer, is the best I've had as well. Casuela and locos are the drinks to get. Mmmm mmmm mmm. Don't miss this place , the service and the prices are great too.

Good peach margaritas. Friendly Service. Decent Prices for the large portions you get. Im cheap so I typically get their Tiajuana Salad bowl which always has tons of meat, beans, and veggies in a fried tortilla shell for about 6 bucks.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
