Good crew. Good food. Don't come to a small town and expect portlandia experiences. These folks are amazing, local, and the epitome of what's right in the world. I suggest their steaks and soups.

We went in there the other night around 6:00pm. Took about 20 minutes to get our drinks and another 15 to get our order. Once we ordered we knew there would be a wait we were okay with that. 2 HOURS later we still had no food. We finally asked to speak to a manager and the owner came out and made a scene because we told her we've been waiting for a really long time. Very unprofessional! She then went and got her husband which told us "if you don't want to wait then you can leave" which we did. The only good thing about the evening was they offered to pay for our drinks. We went down to the Brownsville tavern to have dinner since we were told several times our food was ready, we never did see it. Bad experience all around which is too bad it has potential. My friends and I will never be back.

With a 3.5 star rating, we weren't sure about heading here at first, but I am so glad we did! The one star rating keeping this place down are almost all from years ago and I would recommend anyone give this place a try. Here's a quick rundown: It's very aesthetically pleasing. There is a great backstory about the building but most of the place is updated with great little accents all over. It has a rustic feel with a modern twist. We really enjoyed the ambiance. There is indoor and outdoor seating, or you can sit at the bar. Our visit was for lunch, but there is a dance floor and pool table in the back, so my bet is that in the evenings and on the weekends, the place gets hopin'. There were only a few other customers when we were there and I liked that. Our server was a cute little thing with personality but I don't believe she ever gave us her name. The wait was longer than expected for the food, considering the place was practically empty, but when it did arrive, it made us forget all about the wait. Now, for the food! I had the Summit Grange Grilled Cheese. which was a grilled cheese sandwich with a mixture of 3 cheeses and some tomato slices. They used parmesan to make a delicious crust over the sandwich. I was impressed by the presentation and the taste. The fries were delicious and cooked to perfection. My boys had burgers; one was a bourbon burger and I think the other was bleu cheese. They both loved them. The flavors were rich and delectable and the prices were outstanding for such gourmet quality taste and presentation. One of our orders had fries instead of the onion rings we asked for and that was a bit disappointing but since we had waited so long for the order, we didn't ask them to correct it, but that won't stop me from coming back. I also loved that the drinks were served in chilled mason jars. They hit the spot on a warm summer day.... I highly recommend stopping by.

We came out expecting to get our beloved Philly steak sandwich only to realize it was gone with new menu. We were so sad at first. We had to regroup and try something new. We decided to try the new "Mac and chizza" with stuffed crust and bacon. Holy cow the best Mac and cheese on a pizza. My son was the first to order this of the new menu so they told him he would go down in history as the first ever to have it and he renamed it "the chittza". We also had a pepperoni olive with white sauce and these were quite honestly some of the best tasting pizzas we have ever had !!! Go to kirks ferry. Atmosphere is fun and friendly and the food is the bomb. The food coming out of that kitchen all looked awesome we will have to try some of the other things!!

I loved everything about this restaurant. Great service, amazing food, all wrapped up in a pioneer setting. Worth the drive if your on 1-5 and need to eat. Not too far from the freeway.

On our road trip north, we heard the cry from our 4-year-old -- "I am hungry!" We looked around and saw a lot of ranches. We were drawn to Kirks because it was close and rating was high. Thank you reviewers! We were pleasantly surprised. Burger was delicious, salad had hearty chunks of bacon with well prepared steak, kids loved the wood fired pizza and chicken strips with fries. It did take longer than expected (1.5 hours from start to finish) but the service and food quality were superb. Thanks Kirks!

My wife and I went to Kirks Ferry Trading Post last night. It was our first time to eat there had toured the place before it opened. The food was good- wood fired oven roasted chicken and prime rib with twice baked potatoes and a cowboy cookie for desert (see photos). The place was busy but we were seated right a way and the service was good. The only negative comments I have are: The prime rib was warm not hot, however, it did taste good. And we were there on a warm summer day and the restaurant evidently does not have AC because it was warm inside too! They did have several fans running which did help. We will go back someday soon for their wood fired oven pizzas!

Wow all I can say is Wow. Great food and service is second to none. Small town feel with big city food.

We came here after a K9 Nosework competition and brought a fairly large group. They worked to accommodate us and did a great job. Most of us ordered the prime rib and it came out beautifully cooked, juicy and tender. My husband had the chicken fried steak and although he did say it needed a bit more gravy, that it was excellent!

Came in for lunch on Friday. I had the Kirk's Ferry cheese steak and fries it was great and the fries they serve are addicting. Great selection of beer on tap. I had a Worthy IPA the bartender recommended it, good stuff. I can not wait to go back for dinner Thank you Kirk's Ferry.

Super friendly place! The service complaints are typical of a small town establishment with limited staff. They try very hard and love the customers. It definitely shows. We come here frequently and always have a good time. Get to know the staff and owners. You will be impressed!

This place is amazing. A breath of fresh air for the folks in and around Brownsville! If you are in Albany, Corvallis or even the Eugene area, you must come and have a great time. Last night 5 friends and myself went down for the "soft" opening. I figured it would be a mess, but no, the staff knew which end was up, how to pour a pitcher of beer and the food was amazing. Not your typical bar food! The atmosphere is one I would love to share, but it is best seen in person! I wish the owners and staff much luck and many years of amazing food!

This place has a great story behind it with the old house and the restaurant built around it. The owner has a pretty cool history as well. Definitely a fun place to go check out. The bar is great too with a nice selection of beers if you are into that sort of thing. This is the second time I have been to Kirk's Ferry. The food has been hit and miss. I loved the ribs I had the first time around. Spicy and delicious. This time I had the burger with blue cheese and bacon. It was ok. A bit on the dry side. Definitely a mouthful. We have four others in our party with mixed reviews. The stake was ok. The cheesesteak sandwich was pretty good according to the person who ordered that business. The meat pizza was ok. Finally, the chicken Caesar salad eater had no complaints. Our sever was a young gentleman who appeared to be new to the serving world. I do support restaurants giving people their first severing jobs as it is a tough industry to get into sometimes. I would suggest more training for their newbies however. The cost of food here is a bit on the pricey side compared to other businesses in the area. I would expect the service to match. The young gent was delivering our last plate of food and there was a couple waiting to be sat. The young gent decided to grab two menus and walk them to a table past our table with our food in his hand instead of asking the couple to hold on one minute while he delivers the food and returns to get them seated. A minor thing but still not appropriate with a $20 plate of food in his hand. The other mistake he made was grabbing the check holder before we were done at our table without saying anything at all. He completely forgot that he ran our CC card moments earlier, grabbed the holder off the table without asking or saying anything, opened it at the table and asked if anyone had run our card for us yet (there was a signed CC slip and a cash tip in the holder). I mentioned that he had ran our card about 5 minutes ago. Now I realize these are minor things but things that could be avoided with a bit of training. However, I still want to give a Cheers to Kirk's Ferry for giving people a chance to get their foot in the waiting business. I do recommend this place specifically for the story, the atmosphere, and some of the food items.

Just moved to Brownsville and have now ate at Kirk's Ferry twice since the kitchen isn't where you want to be after unboxing your life! So a great excuse to go out and try some local eats, must say I am very impressed with the food and the service. First time around we got pizza.. the special was a garden pizza with all the ingredients coming from there own garden! Even the pesto was home made which scored big with the wife, of course I had to get a standard pie to go along with the healthier option. Both were awesome pizza's and they have a great selection of tasty suds to choose from. Second time around I had my way with a full rack of delicious ribs (awesome taste and portion size) and a side of some home made mac n cheese that was phenomenal, the rest of the family went with the sliced prime rib sandwiches. Everyone was very full and pleased with the food and the service, I would recommend this place and will look forward to trying other options as the seasons change :)

Went in this place for diner the other night and loved it. The 12 inch pizza is a good value and very tasty! The service was great despite the fact that the place was very busy. Everybody there was so friendly and fun to talk with.

Just passing through Brownsville and needed a bite to eat. Saw this place & decided to check it out. There was plenty of easy parking. I was there between lunch and dinner and not starving, so only ordered a Cesar salad with grilled chicken. I usually ask for dressing on the side but forgot, then worried that there would be too much. The service was very good and the salad came perfect! Not too much dressing, warm grilled chicken, and very delicious. It was served with some kind of parmesan grilled toast which complemented the salad wonderfully. I could see diners around me had ordered pizzas. They looked delicious and I asked both tables if they liked their food. Both tables said the pizza was excellent! The place was clean with cool, western-style decor; although I ate in the bar, I could see there was plenty of seating in the restaurant area. I would rate this 5 stars except that the waiter was eating at the bar in between serving customers. I don't know if he was washing his hands in between or not. I noticed another reviewer mentioned this too. Having been a server in the restaurant business, this is something we did not do; servers should take a meal break, wash up, & resume serving.

On my girlfriends dads birthday, we decided it would be nice to come out to Brownsville to try this nice looking, brand new restaurant. I wish we would have waited a little while longer before giving this place a try, because they don't quite seem to have all of the "Bugs" worked out. The restaurant is nice, with cool decor that really gives it the old school, wild west feel. The menu was small and simple, but with some promising looking options. After waiting for a bit to get our orders taken, and drinks served, the waitress asked us if we want some jalapeno cheddar biscuits, and assures us, "they're free!". Free of charge they were, but free of bugs they weren't. As my girlfriend is pulling apart the biscuit, she noticed a black clump baked into it, she pointed it out to me and said she thought it was seasoning. I agreed, and continued to eat my biscuit, as she continued looking. After further investigation, she realized that it was indeed a fly, which also explains why there was another fly dive bombing our heads. He must've believed it was our fault his friend was dead. After waiting another 15mins, the waitress comes out to check on how we were doing, and to get us more water. We informed her of the winged creature that was in our biscuit, and she was bound and determined to make things right. She stormed to the kitchen, and returned a few minutes later, with claims that they will "make this right". "Dessert's on us tonight guys!" she claimed as she brought out our meals, another 20 minutes later. We figured that was better than nothing, as we looked down at the food we ordered, which mostly looked better on paper. Roast beef sandwiches for the parents and I, and a hamburger for my girlfriend. Now, I may not be a graduate of "Le Cordon Bleu", but I can tell you this: one of the key features of a roast beef sandwich is, the horseradish. They must've been out of horseradish this day, because ours were just slathered in unmelted butter. All three of our sandwiches were lukewarm at best, and appeared as tho they were initially heated in a microwave. The plain sourdough bread was not toasted in the slightest, and the cheese was just warm enough to start sweating. Not the tastiest dish I've ever had. When I asked my girlfriend how her burger was, she prompted me to give it a try. After giving it a try, and eating a couple fries to get the taste out of my mouth, we came to a conclusion. It was not a burger patty, but it hamburger meat shaped into the form of a patty. It tasted like a cafeteria meat loaf sandwich, that they serve the day after they have the meat loaf special. It wasn't even enjoyable, the meat was very bland and dry, with out any strong flavored toppings to rescue it. So it remained half eaten. After awhile longer, long after we had all decided to call it quits on entrees, the waitress came back out. She brought us out dessert menus and said "OK you guys get two free desserts". What seemed to initially be a gesture of kindness, for making us all disgusted before we ate, turned into an opportunity for them to make a few more dollars, forcing two of us to order desserts we never would of ordered. Well, we didn't fall into that trap. Each couple ordered a Rustic Raspberry Sage Cobbler, to go. Another 20 mins later she comes out with our boxes, and our check. $42 for the 4 of us. Not bad considering it's a sit down restaurant, but not good, considering I've made better roast beef sandwiches after a night of drinking, and 1/10th the amount of time and money. All in all, we were in the restaurant for over one and a half hours, and got little to no enjoyment out of any of it, other than each others company. So if you want a good atmosphere for drinking, and don't feel like driving across the bridge to the tavern, then I would highly recommend this place, but if you want some decent food, I'd drive right on by.

Terrible: Slow service, mediocre drinks, unappealing & unappetizing food, dark & hot atmosphere (in very old log building- not so clean?)- only went because we had a Living Social discount voucher...and because we had never been to Brownsville. What started as an adventure resulted in disappointment- sorry to say~

Celebrated our wedding anniversary here with friends last night. It's my 2nd time eating here and loved it both times. There is a new menu which was simple and straightforward to understand, I had a large delicious steak ($20)which was perfectly done (I ordered medium well), my husband had pulled pork sandwich ($12) which I sampled and loved. Our friend had roasted chicken, which he could only eat half of because it was so big and said it was delicious. I also loved the generous serving of french fries and the sweet potato fries which were gourmet compared to other places. The waitress was very friendly and helpful and the owner who is a professional knight and performs with horses all around the world came out and visited with us which we enjoyed. He said that in the future, he will be performing in the arena in the restaurant. Wow, I can't wait! There is an original homestead cabin restored inside the huge lodge type restaurant, a must see for everyone! This is a destination restaurant, one that won't disappoint.

Visiting friends in Eugene who were raving about this cool new restaurant. Always happy for a new experience, we headed out for dinner and what turned out to be an amazing dining experience. First of all, the menu is a complete departure from the standard ribs, steak and burgers that you would expect from the (really cool looking) log cabin-roadhouse exterior. At first glance, the prices seemed a bit high, but we changed our minds quickly when we actually tasted the fare! Whoever is doing the cooking really knows what they are doing. Our party of four eagerly sampled each other's choices (Cajun Steak, Fried Chicken, Trout and a Blueberry Salad). All were really nice. Beautifully seasoned, attractively presented. The waitress happily substituted the andouille mashed potatoes for the french fries and they are amazing. I noticed that the Blueberry salad was made with all local ingredients. It reminded me of the Alice Waters philosophy...buy local and use seasonal. I noticed a couple of less than enthusiastic reviews which is too bad. Apparently this place has only been open a short while but I'm thinking that it would be well worth a return visit when I'm back in the area next year. I hope that word of mouth makes sure it's still there when that time comes. (Although the dessert menu looked really appealing, we were way too stuffed to even think about it this time around). Parking is plentiful, dress is casual, the wait-staff is friendly and attentive.

One of the worst restaurants I've ever been to... service was slow and uncaring, food was awful. Ordered the lamb which was fatty and tough. It came with some kind of potato thing that did not taste good and was cold, waiter brought another one and it was still cold in the middle. There were only a few other patrons there on a Saturday night... now we know why.
