Awesome little Chinese food restaurant. We were on our way down 101 and decided to stop and check out this place. We asked a customer coming out how it was and she said it was one of the better places in the area. My husband loves Chinese food and has worked in the restaurant industry and this place went way over his expectations and mine too. Their portions were huge, the food was hot and delicious, and the service was super friendly. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the bathrooms were hard to find. You had to go down three different hallways pass a bunch of different doors. In fact my husband and son accidentally walked into a Mexican restaurant thinking they were back at the Dragon Palace. But besides that this is an excellent restaurant with awesome food and service.

My boyfriend and I just visited Oregon. My first time in Oregon. His parents took us to Dragon Palace the night before we left and it was SO GOOD! Service was GREAT. Very kind people! I never got his name but the young Man who is a server was very funny! He joked with us and made us feel very comfortable. Food came out fast. We ordered the Family of 4 Dinner. LOTS of food. That food was SO delish! I LOVE Chinese food and I usually go to a Chinese restaurants that I can't spell in Benicia ca, but its' on First Street. This place TOPPED them! It was just Very good! You can't really find a REAL GOOD Chinese restaurant. I live in Concord now and yet to have found one. I Really enjoyed eating there and that's saying something for Brooking Oregon. Next biggest food place there was Dairy Queen. So I you ever go to Brookings OR You should def go to Dragon palace.

Thanks for putting together an off-menu dish that I honestly needed but couldn't get anywhere else nearby, and for being so helpful on top of that. The ginger was a plus: I normally hate ginger but there's nothing like it to settle my stomach during a bad bout with motion sickness. We will swing by the next time we're in town, and bring friends if we can.

Again, this place is awesome. I had a bowl of wonton soup which was a huge meal in itself. I didn't think it would be so big so I also ordered house chow mein which is delicious. Plenty of left overs :-)

Love this place! Clean and great food. The pot stickers are worth the stop. Love the crab puff too. They always seem to have a very fresh special. Worth the stop.

Not as good as another local Chinese restaurant. The food made three out of four of us sick instantly within 30 min. Good thing there were several bathrooms in the house. The rice was bland and lumped together. Strangest fried rice I have ever seen or had. Out of the 7 items we ordered I only liked the fried shrimp and the chow mien.

Chinese food cravings are hard to fight off at times, so I decided to stop here for lunch. Very clean place. Fast and friendly service. I ordered the chicken with vegetables and my best friend ordered General tso's chicken. Everything came fast and hot. Vegetables were fresh and tasted good. My chicken, however, had a funky after taste. Kinda wild and gamey. Maybe....it was just the chicken.... Or was it? After thinking about what the pieces of flat white meat could possibly be or might not be, I decided to skip the meat and just eat the rice and veggies. They still tasted good and was very filling. I did have a few bites of my friends General tso's chicken and it tasted really good. Yes, it tasted like chicken. Spicy, candied deep fried battered chicken that is covered in red sugar sauce. MMMmmm... Yeah it's addicting. No, It's not true Chinese food, and no it's probably not healthy either, but ya gotta have it a few hundred times in your life. At least this place does NOT use MSG. So yeah, pretty good experience. My fortune cookie says..... I will be back.

we weren't sure what to expect, especially when we walked in at dinner time on a tuesday evening and there was NOone there. the hot & sour soup was excellent, although it could/should have been hot. it was nice a thick and hearty - very tasty. the gal who served us was terrific. very attentive and responsive to our request for water, extra napkins... the sesame beef was quite good! tender slices of beef with just the right amount of gravy and onions. we were so pleased and will definite go back for more!

Went in without any expectations. We just didn't want to go to the subway across the street and thank God we didn't. These guys make some really good stuff. A-Grade General Tao's Chicken. Would go again if I'm ever in the middle of Nowhere, Oregon.

The food was good ! Only thing that was not good was the crab puffs . They were way under cooked and did not have any crab in them. Prices were good and service was great !

Very impressed by the quality of Chinese food at Dragon Palace, a small restaurant tucked away in the small coastal town of Brookings, Oregon. I had the General Tso's Lunch Combo which includes Tea, Soup, Crab Puffs and Fried Rice. The waitress was very attentive and friendly and although I word give the meal a four for quality I will say the pot sticker sauce and Tso chicken sauce was pretty hot and might not be for the faint of heart. I would eat here again.

Our beautiful waitress was very friendly and the dinners were HUGE. We ordered 4 dinners and it was way more than the 6 of us could eat. It was better than average Chinese food! Tasted more homecooked than a lot of other Chinese restaurants. Highly recommend the Hong Kong dinner!!!

Had a couple of lunches here during a recent 10-day stay in Brookings. Service is friendly enough, but can be a bit spotty as both times we saw only one woman servicing the entire restaurant, acting as host, waiter, and busser. It took 10 minutes just to order the first time, even though the restaurant wasn't that crowded. Once I shared Mandarin Vegetables and Curry Chicken dishes. Both were large servings (especially the Mandarin Veggies, loaded with broccoli and zucchini, among other things), and pretty tasty. But when I asked if I could substitute brown rice for the steamed rice, she laughed (I'm told more of an embarrassed laugh, but still). The second time I split War Won Ton soup (which had a very good assortment of veggies and other ingredients, except -- ironically enough -- I didn't care for the wontons) and Shrimp & Scallop Kew Lo Mein (spicy), which was good, but not outstanding. Again there was a good selection of veggies, and quite a number of shrimp (7?) and scallops. Probably closer to a 3 than a 4, but I'm bumping it up (despite the lack of brown rice) because of the perceived value. I like getting a lot of decent food for a reasonable price.

Place was great. Typical Chinese food, but very good. Large portions. We split a combo meal and were stuffed when we finished. If you're feeling like Chinese this a good stop in Brookings.

Very accommodating and yummy. We had a cup of tea waiting for us by the time the last chair was in place. We chose a family style meal for 5 although we had an extra child. We figured she didn't need an entire full meal's worth of food. The staff very sweetly provided each of us with a bowl of soup although we'd only ordered for five. It was very kind and thoughtful. We had hot and sour soup - which was FABULOUS!! The heat was JUST right and I was left with an empty bowl all too soon. Our appetizers included the ubiquitous fried shrimp (fresh, hot and yummy), BBQ Pork (yummy and served with a tiny bowl of sesame seeds to sprinkle atop of the slices), crab puffs (a little light on the crab but that suits me as I detest crab in general), and spring rolls which were hot and crisp. The sweet and sour sauce came out in a larger sized bowl with tiny ones for each person to use for their own dipping pleasure. The meal itself was incredibly delicious. Coconut chicken which was not only beautiful to look at, but also tasty to the last nibble. Happy Family which is a mixture of all meats: beef, pork, chicken, shrimp in a great sauce along with veggies. Shrimp and Scallop Chow Yuk was light and breezy both in color and taste. It was wonderful. Everything else (rice, pork, more shrimp, tsing tao beer, etc) was perfect. Highly recommend to others. The only thing lacking was a little more ambiance. Pleasant Asian music was playing and the waitress was perfect. Chairs were a little hard for me as I have a terrible back problem. But that's my own problem.

Wife and I went for lunch today - 12/31/2014. Service was good/friendly. What was excellent - the General Tso's Chicken. It is pictured on the lunch menu which encouraged us both to order it. We are glad we did! The portions are generous, the crab rangoon x3 that came with it were great also. The price for two lunches, tea, 1 soda was 16.25 - hard to beat.

Wow, this is sad the last time I reviewed dragon palace was 3/12/11 and I came here on 9/11/11 for dinner. They weren't packed, only a few customer's, my husband and I were seated promptly, given menu's, and were brought water's. We went over the menu's and decided on what we would order. It took a bit for the waitress to come take our order's, but when she did we each ordered The House Special $9.75 which come's with. Fried Shrimp-This was terrible this time, they were soggy and cooked to long that the shrimp were tough, it tasted old. BBQ Pork-This was very tasty, I love the bbqued pork :-) Pork Fried Rice-Very well made, tasty yummy. Pork Chow Mein-It had really good flavor, I saved some of it for a snack later at work :-) There was supposed to be sweet and sour pork, but we substituded for Mar Far Chicken- This was pretty good but not their best. I had a small bowl of egg flower soup that I really enjoyed, it was flavorful and had the right amount of everything :-) I also ordered an appetizer the combos: Fried Shrimp, Crab Puffs, Egg Rolls, BBQ Pork for $8.95 Again the shrimp tasted old, over cooked, and soggy I was not impressed one bit. When I was here a few months ago the shrimp were plump, the breading a golden crisp, and it was juicy and flavorful, now it tastes old and soggy. The crab puff had good texture, was just pastry with cream cheese in it and a speck of crab, I took a picture and posted it as proof that it was only a speck, again not impressed. Everything else was ok. My husband as an appetizer had ordered a large hot and sour that came out to him cold, the waitress took it back and microwaved it. This was one of those Eh moments, the soup didn't taste bad, but after being microwaved it had that microwaved taste. I am just not very impressed with this visit so I am only giving 3 stars over all.

Really good Chinese dinner April 2015. Senior combination plenty of food at good price $8. Sweet/sour chicken, chicken sub gum chpw mein, egg roll. Egg roll was dripping with cooking oil but good taste. Spouse had house special and said it was just ok.

Stopped in really late for dinner. They close at 9, and we showed up about 8:30. They were really friendly, and we had really fast service. The food was excellent and hot. We ordered the combination plates, I got a #3 and my hubby got a #6. All the food was fantastic : )

The food service here is very poor. It took 30 minutes to get my dinner, and my order was wrong. How hard is it to make Mongolian beef at a Chinese restaurant? The tea that was served with my meal was cold and tasted very bitter. I have been to Chinese restaurants all over the U.S. and this place was the worst place that I have eaten at. The sauces were very watered down and actually tasted like they were store bought. Fortune cookie was stale, and there is nothing special about the modeling of this Dragon restaurant. I would not return back to this restaurant.

Where are the dragons? This place could use more dragons. The inside is barren for a Chinese restaurant, but the remodeling they've done is still nice and I like the extra wooden touches on the doors and the sideboards. The food is fairly average Americanized Chinese food (though with so many Chinese restaurants in this town I was hoping for better). The Sichuan chicken is pretty good, though it could be quite a bit spicier for having a star next to it's name on the menu. We also had the broccoli saute which was nice but that's rather boring and hard to mess up. Meals are served with complementary tea and individual bowls of rice. The sauces are in mustard squeeze bottles which is sort of strange, but sanitary, I suppose. The bathrooms are shared with the Mexican food restaurant next door and are way, way, way, down the hallway in the back. The waiter was polite but not as attentive as I might have hoped and a bit slow in the beginning. The best part of everything is that you are served heaps of food for reasonable prices. We took about half of everything home. If I lived here I would probably return occasionally because of that, but I don't, and I won't miss it.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
